#dandy's doodles#magical girl#magical girl oc#an incredibly rough sketch just to get the idea down :)#for a while now i've wanted a character who unabashedly went around murdering people! so here she is!#lala is very kind but she also has the constant urge to maim and kill#as a magical girl she just picks random people and kills them with her heavenly chainsaw#and people assume she'd only kill people who deserved it - cuz she's a magical girl after all - so nobody cares#(the logic isn't really meant to be parsed through... morally or otherwise lol)#there's no real story here. there are no consequences to any of this or anything#it's just fun to imagine the horribly gory scenes lala would get herself into...#and yes there is a link between her smiley motif and mine :) though i promise i am not a murderous magical girl :)#a funny thing... i just read watchmen and there's this recurring symbol of the comedian's smiley face pin with a spot of blood on it#and i wasn't thinking about that at all when designing lala but she has smiley faces on her chainsaw and ribbon...#...and you'd imagine those smiley faces would get plenty bloody!#anyway i should probably go to bed. enjoy my little pookie

The image of the helmet left on the ground is living rent free in my brain
Partly because the visor is yellow tinted and that stood out to me (yellow is the colour of communication!) for a variety of reasons, but mostly because it shows the level of detail the show goes into. Acrylic or Perspex changes colour under high voltage because of the electrons (don’t ask me to explain how I’m not a scientist I’ve just seen it done!!) - it goes a yellowish green - just like the visor on Bucks helmet!!
But also because the light is still on.
If Buck were going to die permenantly (which we all know doesn’t happen) then that light would have been symbolically out - it would’ve been a helmet in the ground in the rain and that’s it.
But instead we have light - a feeble beam - but light - symbolic of Bucks life force - still there but weak and pointing in the direction the ambulance drove off in!
#I love this crew - 99% of people wouldn’t notice the visor being yellow or why it’s that colour#and if they did notice they wouldn’t know or think about why#props to the props/costume departments for this one#but the crew did it anyway so nerds like me could spot it and appreciate them#the guiding light#the whole light motif is so well done throughout the show but I love it’s use here so so much#so much imagery and symbolism in one helmet and shot#Brad Buecker I am sending you all the snaps!!!#911 spoilers#911 on fox#911 fox#911onfox#bucks helmet

indeedy! i've already posted about it i think but here's it again:
this shit sussy as hell to me ☝ and mutilation of body parts for whatever reason isn't such an unheard of thing irl either
it's not mendatory when one is living on top of the iterators/striving towards the religion and some May choose to rather wrap their hands up, but it is pretty common to cut the fingers off up there. some would rather do That to visually signal how good religious followers they are than actually work on themselves thru worship and other religion stuff. it's like a performance for everyone else, almost
the hands stuff in the oc lore is: • five fingered - the base for "higher" beings (aka sapient creatures capable of worship stationed on the planet) • three/four fingered - animalistic/way below the worshipping sapient creatures • fingerless hands - dedication to the religion in the form of renouncing using/taking anything the world has to offer. separation from the physical world is the whole theme of the Sins so goin as far as putting the body thru smth like that fits in real well
they sometimes take off the whole upper part of the hand (so half palm gone) or even the whole thing goes off. also thinkin that maybe the predecessor to this was just cutting the tendons that make the fingies move

I miss the days where the aus were wildly out of sync with the actual story when all we had was a few names a few tapes#and we all went wild making our versions of the story and characters and then got so attached to them we doubled down#when canon didnt deliver on em#umm oops this is long have a great new year folks! Get wild get weird with ur bendy aus and rewrites#lets have fun this year and take canon as optional bc lets face it Bendy isn't great but man is it fun and I care abt that way more than#the quality of the story tbh#it had great ideas and executed them uh badly! Last year I kept track of the series & films I watched; this year I've decided to keep track of whatever books I read! So this one is for the month of January – I'll share these sometime after the month is over, or if I read more than one book during the month, I will do their reviews as soon as I finish the book :)
#ben picks up reading again#ben rambles about shit#should note that this is not spoiler free (don't give much context but still)#i would read it again just to catch all the parallels and symbolism#chose to read this on libby bc of the option to highlight and keep notes in one spot bc jfc I would've annotated tf out of a physical copy#doing this completely from my phone and made my own little template because I couldn't find any good ones for free#what else ummmm oh right this is like a basic answer/question and I ramble off topic but still within some type of margin#read that fanfic I recommend really since I feel like it's better written aka maybe I just like it more bc it has a happy ending#and it includes all the same problems that the characters of the original book went through (for the most part)#anyway 4/5 stars and not 5 bc like I got tired of clare's pov bc it felt like there was no different between#the varying ages we get once we reach her at like 12 and up#henry also affected this bc like he's likable but so stupid and shouldve studied paradoxes or something to solve his problems#again rambling it needs a fix it but blah blah not really their suffering is a main point of the book :)#yeah so structured like a traditional one but I focus on not so traditional aspects bc I have a way of analyzing things#as if I have an essay to write on it lmaooooo#these are handwritten bc I like to keep track in case it worsens due to my cubital tunnel affected wrist#(im a righty; lefty on the other hand has carpal tunnel but that only affects when I do hand on projects like pottery or painting)#I'm giving free trivia/lore about myself here lol

Haplo/Marit has SO many rights
#thinking about them this morning#well originally i was thinking about patho au tbh#any au where marit raised rue tends to get me#i think it's about the cross purposes it puts her in when haplo inevitably returns to her life#like she's defensive of herself but also her child#adds an interesting element imo#even though an au where she gives rue up for adoption is arguably more in line with canon#and is also potentially interesting#what can i say ive always had a weak spot for kids in fiction#and meanwhile haplos pursuit of her is ALSO a pursuit of his child in aus where rue is there#like he wants to have this family which could almost make his feelings for marit seem symbolic#but they never do to me???#it always feels like haplo admires and respects marit and wants to support her and also be supported by her#admittedly the beginning of into the labyrinth i think haplos feelings for her DO feel kind of symbolic#it would be a bit impossible for them not to-- this is effectively a stranger#but i think the dynamic just works by the end. theres respect and trust and mutual admiration#it's not necessarily gushy it's just. alignment.#anyway i love them

the thing with making a gnoll character is that i like to get deep into animal-inspired characters, and ive discovered how varied and different hyena patterns and colors can be so im fighting for my life trying to figure out something i like the most
#:V#i think... i wanna go with a pale base with a reddish mane and spots#or maybe a darker base with some noticeable countershading would be fun. still a reddish mane tho#extremely dark and heavily spotted hyenas interest me too but im not sure if i could make such a 'sooty' look work#anyway. sorry friends i am so lost in the hyena sauce. i love to make a guy who is an animal#(tho funnily enough. this guy will probably get his own non-hyena animal symbolism)
