yet another oc that only exists because i wanted to write something very specific

(middle is a little older, hence her scar healing. i like to think she gets a glass eye at some point)

anyway this is mira! (they/she) since that wip is almost 20k words and counting i won’t give away too much but long story short she’s the result of meta going “one last time, i promise” and adopting yet another kid

also galaxia kinda indirectly picked the name :)

i’ve mentioned before that i headcanon that pretty much all astrals are autistic and this is just kinda an extension of that. whereas meta tends to suppress his emotions and conform to others, mira…doesn’t. she gets uncomfortable and upset and lashes out at people easily, and working through their emotions is no small task.

the main reason i chose to write them that way was for the sake of narrative but i’ve grown attached to it because there’s a lot of ideas there i’d like to explore. stuff about navigating emotions and relationships when existing is so suffocatingly uncomfortable. it’s not something i could center around Kirby himself, but i think it makes sense with a post character development meta knight.

kirby was definitely very excited to have younger siblings after being used to being the youngest in the room for so long!! (with the like. one and only exception being gooey.) he’s super affectionate with both of them and wants to have a close relationship one day, but for now mira is pretty unappreciative of that fact lol. they don’t like being pestered for hugs

everyone else is okay tho

mira also has a very love/hate relationship with the egg kid, being so close in age they kinda Have to get along but in typical sibling nature they also fight a lot. sure it’s probably rough for a while but i think in the end they’d be good buddies. maybe not as close as Kirby and Bandee but still.

anyway i have a lot of thoughts and am very busy but. i’m really enjoying writing about all this lately it’s been fun ^^

How would you see Slash beign reimagined for the Mutant Mayhem verse?

I wanted to make him look like the mutanimals in mm /tales (still cartoonish but with some more realism on their designs) but I just couldn’t do it LMAO

I swear I thought about him too but he was harder for me to come up with a tales / mm design 😓 he ended up looking like a Rise Raph duplicate and that wasn’t rlly I was aiming for pffftshfh

I remember you were working on designs for the old sages and stuff, do you have any thoughts on their characterization and the like?

Oh yes! I already kinda explained this but I want their personalities to be opposite from the champions!

The water sage has a more bold and confident personality, which makes her the leader of the group. She’s very loud and sarcastic which contrasts Mipha’s more quiet and sweet persona

The lightning sage is very cold and harsh, and she’s not afraid to insult people. She speaks her mind and she doesn’t care how blunt it is. Urbosa is more warm and caring and watches her words at times, especially around those she cares about. This lightening Sage tho? Not so much

The fire sage is very soft spoken and gentle, which i know is NOT at all how he is in the game but I’m honestly tired of all gorons acting the same. I know Yunobo is different cuz he’s a more timid guy compared to the bold Daruk and Darunia and Darbus, but I need more different gorons. So yeah he’s a very gentle and sweet guy. He’ll give you a nice hug cuz he knows you’re squishy and fragile while Daruk will unintentionally break your back

And the wind sage is a chill guy. Very slow to anger and is very encouraging to everyone. He doesn’t seem like a sweet guy but he really is. He’ll easily push you out of your comfort zone if needed to (but enough where you grow more confidence in yourself). Revali is a very complicated guy and feigns confidence to hide insecurity. And he is not chill. He gets annoyed super easily and berates everyone around him (except the princesses, he likes them).

But yeah! Obviously they’re more three dimensional than this but that’s the gist of it!

So do we think the non water flight version of the text is actually a cipher or nah?

I initially thought so, it looked like a replacement cipher with missing letters of based on the patterning, (potentially one of those plus sign replacement ciphers, I forget what they are called if they have a name) but now that I’ve seen the corresponding plaintext it’s clear it’s not simple substitution w missing bits at the very least.

Could potentially be looking at a more advanced cipher but idk if the devs would go that far especially since they pretty much gave us the plaintext, so they could’ve just created a cipherlike set of symbols that doesn’t decrypt to anything. If that’s the case they did a good job making something that looked reasonably enough like a cipher that I played around with it for a little bit. But it’s also not entirely impossible they used something a tad more advanced especially given that a simple substitution would get broken quite quickly.
