Another look at Kamala Harris, Part 2
By Mike Huckabee
Last week, given the difficulties President Biden was having just getting through an incomprehensible townhall meeting, we took a look at what Vice President Kamala Harris brings to the Oval Office if (when) the 25th Amendment is used to “retire” him. It’s not encouraging news, as you know if you read it.
https://www.mikehuckabee.com/latest-news?id=01A2837A-8710-4A6B-9A96-3021399FE349
Of the many reader responses we received, a couple of them pointed to a report on her that appears in the book PROFILES IN CORRUPTION, by Peter Schweizer. In fact, she’s Chapter 2.
http://www.jack-ass.net/art/pic/pic2a.html
The chapter begins with a story that shows the close connection between Harris and President Obama. She first supported him when he was running for the Senate in Illinois in 2004. Then, after he was elected, he flew to San Francisco to attend a fundraiser to help retire her campaign debt after being elected San Francisco district attorney. In 2007, when Obama announced he was running for President --- SO SOON after winning the Senate --- Kamala and several family members joined his campaign and, as Schweizer described it, worked tirelessly. When Obama won, Kamala was there in Chicago’s Grant Park for the celebration.
As Schweizer wrote, “Harris is widely admired in progressive circles as the ‘female Obama.’ Smooth, polished and confident” –- this was obviously written before that unnerving cackling began –- “she has worked hard to ‘cultivate a celebrity mystique while fiercely guarding her privacy.
What we wrote concerning her early life and Marxist influences is confirmed in Schweizer’s reporting.
And, yes, Harris’ political rise is tied to “one of California’s most corrupt political machines,” namely, the one connected to former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown, Jr. As Schweizer put it, “Kamala Harris’s entre into the corridors of political power largely began with a date.” At the time, he was Speaker of the State Assembly, the second most powerful political figure in California. Brown’s relationship with Harris was well-known; as Schweizer reports, “Their affair was the talk of San Francisco in 1994.” Though he was married, her own mother is quoted as defending the affair: “Why shouldn’t she…?”
Schweizer has detailed the various boards and commissions Brown put her on; these did not require approval from the legislature. These were an extremely lucrative way to pad her salary of $100,000 a year as a county employee. He also bought her a new BMW. But most important of all was the access he gave her to “his vast network of political supporters, donors and sponsors. Soon she was arm in arm with Brown in the most elite circles of San Francisco, including lavish parties and celebrity galas.” And this was before he was even elected mayor.
In fact, it was shortly after Brown became mayor that he and Kamala split up; details aren’t known. She started dating TV talk show host Montel Williams. She and Brown were still political allies, though, and he continued helping her career, through “the most powerful political machine in California,” which he ran.
Kamala went on to head the Career Criminal Unit in San Francisco, and apparently the DA who hired her, Terrence Hallinan, soon regretted his decision. When he didn’t give her a promotion she had wanted, hiring someone else instead, she ended up with Brown’s political machine backing her to run against HIM, and, as Schweizer wrote, “the flow of money directly into her campaign was unlike anything the district attorney’s race had ever seen.” The SAN FRANCISCO WEEKLY said, “She’s hauling in money like there’s no tomorrow.” The San Francisco elite with whom she’d connected while dating Brown forked over the big bucks. Schweizer’s chapter details the various ethical conflicts concerning this money and her use of city employees to do political work.
Harris outspent Hallinan two-to-one and came in second behind him in a three-person race. But in the run-off, she won and was sworn in as San Francisco DA. She took her oath on a copy of the Bill Of Rights rather than the Bible. Given her party’s anti-constitutional proclivities, I doubt the Bill Of Rights was any more honest for her to use than the Bible would have been.
Schweizer’s chapter also tells of Harris’s unimpressive history with the issue of sexual abuse of children by priests. This was a widespread scandal in California. Hallinan, as her predecessor, had uncovered documents going back 40 years, previously sealed by the Church, and had prosecuted numerous cases of child sexual abuse by priests.)
It turns out that according to San Francisco election disclosures, the Catholic Church donated big-time to Kamala Harris’s campaign against Hallinan, though she had no particular ties to the Catholic Church or Catholic organizations. And once she became DA, even though she had prosecuted sex crimes earlier in her career, she oddly moved in the opposite direction of Hallinan and worked to cover up the records. Victims’ groups wanted those records made public and were outraged that she wouldn’t do it.
From 2004 to 2011, when she was San Francisco DA, and then from 2011 to 2016, when she was California attorney general, she never brought a single documented case forward of an allegedly abusive priest.
There’s much more in Schweizer’s chapter about her performance in these jobs, and it is not pretty. He provides numerous examples of her selective enforcement of the law, to benefit friends of her “ex,” Willie Brown, and also of her husband, after she married Los Angeles attorney Doug Emhoff. We’ve also heard from readers in California who told us of her dismal performance there. Recall that when she ran for President, she bowed out even before her own state’s primary. She didn’t win one primary. And yet here she is, virtually destined to be the next President of the United States.
Throughout her career, Kamala has used her associations with powerful people to help her move forward, so it’s not surprising that her closeness to former President Obama would have led her to her current position. Before Biden was nominated in 2020, some had thought Michelle Obama might be the choice. (One of my staffers went on record with that prediction, writing at length about why she believed this would happen.) Certainly if Michelle had wanted it, she would have been the nominee and probably the next President, as the fawning media would have made sure of that. But the Obamas managed to accomplish the same thing, in a way that would still allow Michelle to sit at the beach with friends, sipping exotic drinks with little umbrellas. They did this by putting the woman known as “the female Obama” –- the far-left woman who shared their views in every way but who could never have even made it to her party’s nomination –- on the ticket with “moderate” (ha) Biden, knowing that Biden would never make it through a first term.
At this point, Biden can hardly make it through a town hall meeting.
What the left has done to our country through this scheme will not be forgotten --- or forgiven.

How to Download Marvel comics for free!
I’ve been thinking about writing this for a while especially since we’re all stick inside but last week Marvel made the shitty decision to transition various print titles to digital only, meaning they’re directly taking revenue away from local shops rather than delay the titles, so since Marvel thinks digital comics is such a cool idea I’m gonna show you how to download as many as you’d like! (oh also this is for windows only, idk how to do it if you own a mac but also you’re rich anyways so who cares buy the comics richie)
I don’t want to take money away from the people that need it, not the actual companies of Marvel and DC fuck them they’re dying and they deserve it, but for my own rationalizing I want to take a minute to plug the Hero Initiative, basically what it is an organization that provides for comic creators that are having hard times, comics are a rough industry and you don’t get into it to get rich, I won’t go into it too much you can read for yourself but it’s been endorsed by Stan Lee, Justin Ponsor, Mike Grell, Skottie Young, Rags Morales, a lot of big names, so I’d ask if you do follow this guide and download some comics for free please consider donating to the Hero Initiative (they also sell autographed prints and you can commission some really famous artists)
anyways onto the good stuff! I’m going to be doing a fairly brief but easy to follow guide, there will be links at the bottom of the post so look for those, I’ll probably be making a few other posts with some more info so also check back for those if my blog is still here
What do I need?
You’re going to need 4 basic things if you want to do this as easily and safely as you can
1) a good anti-virus
2) anonymous web browser (Tor)
4) a safe and reliable source for the comics
4) a torrent program to download the comics
Also optional: VPN
Anti-Virus
it’s good to remember when torrenting that no one is your friend, everyone is out to trick you and no one cares, honestly you should also have a good anti-virus though, I’m not really gonna tell you which one you should have but Norton 360 is pretty good but say that in a room of CS majors is the quickest way to start a fist fight, honestly just google it, you’re gonna have to do some research, but really you’re good as long as you don’t go with Avast or Kaspersky, I’m going to go over typical tricks and traps later to ensure safety, this is just basic overall security thing
Anonymous Web Browser (Tor)
next we’re gonna download Tor (you can do this before getting a VPN, like I said either one is going to put you on a list but using one to cover you getting the other at least mitigates it lol) Tor is a great open source project that allows for basically complete anonymous web browsing, it’s a project dedicated to privacy and disruption of corporations ability to control every aspect of our lives, also a friend of mine bought K off silk road with it once in highschool, really not too much you need to know about it before using it, just download it, let it configure and you’re good, also use Duck Duck go that it comes with, don’t switch it to chrome or anything, Duck Duck go is anonymous search service which better lends to Tor’s protection
Where to get the torrents
Now this is really important because you can have everything else set up but without a safe reliable source none of this is gonna do any good, but this is the dangerous part, torrent sites are notorious traps (I bricked more than on family PC on limewire) and this is why I said earlier to remember these people are not your friends and are out to hurt you, don’t click banner ads, don’t believe pop ups, make sure your virus protection is on and it’s a very good idea to have an adblocker on, also look out for another post I’ll be making on what download buttons to trust for different popular torrent sites
when talking comics (and remember specifically only Marvel comics) there’s no other name out there than Nemesis43, he is a god and he’s going to be your new best friend, there are groups and sites out there that do comic scans that you have to pay to join or like apply to join, that shit’s dumb as hell and I’ve never used them once and I’ve got more comic than I can read in my lifetime, you don’t need em and you especially don’t need to give them money, donate to the Hero Initiative instead
Nemesis has moved around a bit in the past (if you remember the WWT debacle) right now the main site for him is ettv (there will be a link at the end of the post) sites a bit barren but he’s there, he also has a reddit he gives updates on very rarely, generally if he moves he adds where his new home is in a text doc in his recent uploads, I fully trust him and his uploads, he’s been doing this for years and I’d never have a second thought downloading from him, also because he uploads so much he’s often very highly rated and verified on whatever site he’s on
The second place I’d recommend is getcomic (again there will be a link at the end), now this is very important, never donate to them, they kinda suck, basically they’re plugged into a bunch of different scanner groups and just steal those scans and put them up and then ask for donations, basically they’re just an aggregate (Nem kinda is too but he doesn’t ask for donations and stuff), they usually use browser downloads which are a complete pain so I’d really recommend Nemesis over them but they do have TheComicGuy on torrent galaxy for larger files but that updates a lot less frequently then the main site, again I trust these guys (as long as you’re on the actual site) but don’t trust any banner ads or pop ups, also for downloading they give multiple options, a lot are very sketchy, just use the main server
also there’s other sites like readcomics or newcomics, never used em, don’t like em, use at your own behest
On sites like ettv you’re gonna want to use the magnet, someone years ago told me it was safer and I just believed them and have always used em, not sure if it’s true but it’s worked so whatever, really you shouldn’t be too worried about this stuff and if you follow this guide you’re going to be way over prepared to download comics, really no one cares about comic torrenting, movies, video games, tv shows that’s the stuff people really get caught on, this is just nerd shit
I’m going to be making another post showing how to use these sites, and other sites comic can be found on so look back at my blog for that
Torrent program
This is pretty basic, just get utorrent, it’s what I’ve always used, it works, whatever, definitely look this up with a VPN on or on Tor, it’s simple to use, I’ll be doing a short tutorial on how to make it even safer
Lastly this one is optional but a pretty good idea, for more than just this
VPN aka Virtual Privacy Network
honestly you can get the anonymous web browser (Tor) or the VPN first, their both going to help cover you downloading the other and honestly both are going to put you on a list for googling them (which is why I suggest looking for someone who just already has the .exes ((I always keep them on a thumbdrive for when I have to reset one of my computers)), I might try to make a google drive with em but also I might not bc that sounds like work and I’m already typing all this up), anyways I’m not really gonna explain what a VPN is, there’s a lot of resources that can explain it better than I can but basically it masks what you do on the internet, there’s a lot of choices when picking a VPN but the big thing I looked for when choosing mine was 1) non-US based so it’s harder for US investigation agencies to request stuff for them or get anything from them 2) one that doesn’t keep logs, honestly they all do even if they say they don’t, but you wanna look for one that hasn’t turned over many logs to US agencies and 3) unlimited peer 2 peer connections which is complicated but basically means you can torrent stuff anonymously and with decent speed. Like Anti-Virus there are a ton of different VPN’s out there, you really have to do research because there are actual accounts of FBI agencies crating VPN’s telling people they’re anonymous when really they had direct access to all the info, I haven’t done any research but NordVPN seems kinda like one of these, really the more they advertise the more suspicious I am, Just google “best vpn 2020″ and look at like 5 lists and read the the stuff, personally I use IPvanish which unfortunately is US based and while it gave over logs in 2016 even thought they said they didn’t keep any but now they’re owned by a new company that super double promises they don’t (again who cares they all do) but they’ve allow P2P and use 256-bit AES encryption
I wanna take a second to mention that this isn’t going to be free, this is the only place you’re going to be spending money (besides donating to Heroe Initative of course), a good VPN is about $100 a year which all in all isn’t terrible, technically you can just get by on the anonymous browser but this gives you an extra layer of security to pretty much ensure you won’t get caught and plus in the ever worsening internet hell world a VPN is becoming more and more important, I’m sure you can find articles about it but yea you don’t technically need a VPN but it’s useful for more than just this
How to work it all
Ok so this is gonna be a little stream of consciousness, as this all kinda has been, so sorry but I’m gonna try and explain it as best I can and also feel free to ask any questions on this blog, I’ll check back eventually I’m sure
So first thing first, make sure you’re virus protection is on and you’re connected on your VPN if you’re using it (you can google “what is my IP” to double check it’s working) then load up Tor, let it load and connect up and whatever, then go to https://www.ettvdl.com/user/Nemesis43 (I’m just gonna show this with Nemesis43, maybe I’ll make another one for getcomics but that’s pretty straight forward, also nem is better)
now remember we’re only here for Marvel comics, so scroll past all those thousands of other comics this would work exactly the same for, I’m gonna go for Ant-Man #4 which was released on the 13 as a digital only comic despite the first three issues being physical copies and now sit on my shelf forever unfinished making me look like a complete penis
it may take a while but it’s going to look like this, click on the blue words, it’s gonna take you to a page that looks like this
now from here we’re going to get the magnet link, right click and select copy link address, I like doing this because it limits my interactions with the page, note the advertisement at the top telling me I need a VPN despite thinking I’m in Guadalajara (which for legal reasons I am)
just copy that and then go to utorrent and click the add link
it’ll open a little box, it should add the link automatically, if it doesn’t just hit ctrl+V
hit ok and it’ll load it up, it might need to download some metadata but after that it should be good, oh also it might bring up a window basically asking where you want to save it and what to name it, you can set all that up in preferences, I did so I just turned that window off and can’t be assed to turn it back on, just hit ok if you don’t wanna bother with that stuff, it’ll go into your downloads by default
and that’s it really, it’s that easy, I might make another thing talking about how to make utorrent more anonymous or whatever so look for that, but stock it’s fine, also when it’s finished downloading it’s gonna start seeding (like uploading to someone else) I’ve always been a scumbag and I never seed but Nemesis seeds stuff so much you really don’t need to anyways, just select it and hit the stop button (the black square on the tool bar)
here are all the links I could think of
Hero Initiative
download Tor
here’s a guide for VPNs
download utorrent
song I found recently that I like
getcomics
Nemesis
so yea that’s pretty much the basics, be smart, be safe, any viruses you get are on you but I hope you found this helpful and feel free to ask any questions
oh and also this is all parody and I’ve never actually torrented anything, I don’t even own a computer

The Maker Movement and its discontents
*Via nettime mailing list
James Wallbank:
Fascinating to hear about personal engagement in Making, Graham!
I, too, have been personally, hands-on involved in Making since Access Space's turn towards digital manufacture, and the interface of the physical and the digital, since around 2010.
(For those of you who aren't aware of Access Space, it started as a "DIY Media Lab" which I and various friends who had accreted around "Redundant Technology Initiative" (lowtech.org) in 2000. It re-interpreted donated digital debris as resource, rebuilding computers, installing free operating systems, making them available to participants, and encouraging and supporting creative, self-directed projects.)
Part of the motivation behind Access Space was our hope that digital engagement and skills had the potential to empower. This proved to be the case in the early 2000s, and numerous time-rich participants engaged with Access Space, taught themselves and each other technological skills, and became web designers, graphic designers, technicians or even better-known artists. (Though whether "art" is, in the context of networked global capital, a viable or empowering career for a statistically significant proportion of its participants is, I suggest, in question.)
By 2010 we'd seen far less business incubation, and proportionately fewer participants able to self-teach to a level that it made a real difference to their life prospects or creative leverage. We saw that hardware and software skills devalued as pre-installed devices became cheaper, and that the digital realm was becoming dominated by global digital services, including social media, that, while they didn't do a great job, diverted the vast majority of potential digital design clients away from bespoke, local service providers.
In short, the window of opportunity suggested by the first phase of the graphical internet was closing. While, in 2000, speed-reading an HTML primer, combined with a little design flair, a few copywriting skills, and some sales confidence could make you a web designer in a month, in 2010 this was no longer the case.
We concluded that when any new technology is introduced, there's a period of opportunity, before that technology has become fully adopted or systematised, in which the individual can get involved, and (in a short time, with a level of skill only one page ahead of their clients) can empower themselves, converting an interest into saleable skills, products or resources.
We've seen the same window open and close with blockchain (which I believe to be illusory, unproductive, and, in the end, simply gambling). A vanishingly few people made money though cryptocurrency trading, but now it's dominated by grinding Ponzi schemes, viral mining fiddles, or blockchain is being repurposed by multinationals. The moment of opportunity for the individual has passed.
At Access Space we saw Fab Lab or "Maker Technologies" as a more genuinely productive line of approach, and, even though many of the technologies had been around for a decade or more, saw that the window of opportunity had not yet closed. As technology requiring significant physical engagement and investment (you need to buy real-world machines and materials!) the timescale of its adoption and exploitation by capital would be far slower.
So at Access Space we raised money (thanks EU structural funds!) and bought a CNC, a Lasercutter, a 3D Printer, Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, a digital embroidery machine... and set about a research partnership to explore the potentials of these technologies for creating local jobs and enterprises.
In the end, for those not in the highfalutin' and disconnected academic realm (sorry, researchers - you're my friends really!) a key element of whether a technology is empowering or not is "Can you get paid for using it?"
And "using it to engage and educate" doesn't count - actually using it to create product or paid-for service is key. In Access Space's particular case, we took the position that we didn't care about "industrial transformation", nor "increasing supply-chain efficiencies". We cared most about actual, tangible jobs in Sheffield, not abstract (however numerically significant) jobs in San Fransisco or Shenzen.
The research engaged with local makers, both individuals and startup enterprises, and concluded that the technology we looked at with most potential to generate local jobs and enterprise was lasercutting, and the one with the least potential was 3D Print. Even seven years later, we still agree.
This failure, it seems to me, to engage with the economics of making is exactly what's thus far marginalised the "Maker Movement". It's also true of the Fab Lab - while it's a powerful context for education, the economics of fabbing just don't work.
To give a simple example: one of the Fab Lab founding principals its to engage with a wide range of materials and processes, on a wide range of scales. For a business to become profitable, the imperative is EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE. To optimise manufacture, it's necessary to reduce the number of processes, and minimise the variety of materials. In terms of marketing, the key is to focus on a particular product and market. It is supremely irrelevant to a person who wants to buy a new pair of shoes to know that you can also make customised wifi amplifiers, repair bicycles, design lamps or sell toy robots.
Shoe advertisers (physical or digital) sell shoes, not "Anything... uhh... including shoes".
The Maker Movement comes out of academia, where the core product is learning. To the business world, high skill is the enemy. Skilled processes are expensive - you want your highly skilled people to be doing as much as possible, over as wide an area as possible, so you can employ as few of them as possible.
So, with this context, my wife Lisa and I opened "Makers". It's a shop, where we make things. You can commission us to make things, or come and make things with us. We run educational workshops, too - but it's not the mainstay of our business. We did this with the intention of further exploring the opportunities afforded by digital manufacture, with a view to uncovering the sustainable business models that might emerge from it. Having just done two and a half years of research into the employment potentials of digital manufacture, I thought we might have a head-start.
Makers is now coming up to its fourth birthday, and we haven't gone bankrupt yet. (Not to show off, but that fact alone apparently puts us into the top 5% of UK retail!) We've discovered a whole load of stuff about digital and analogue making, the economics and sustainability of local manufacture, that we just didn't know, and we've not seen the wider Maker Movement really touch upon.
We've rejected whole categories of product lines, and focussed on particular processes and products to make our living. We still make a wide range of things, and we're constantly experimenting with new ideas, but bearing in mind that we need to create things that aren't characteristic of the typical maker-space product ("really fascinating, but I have no use for it!"). The objects we make must have the key characteristic that people are prepared to put their hands in their pockets and buy them - for a sensible price - and that means that they must be appealing.
We have a range of clients for our making services, including individuals and businesses. For individual clients, we're typically making home decor, but for micro-businesses we're at the cutting edge of business incubation - people come in with an idea (often its something crafty, with a very specialist market) and we help them design and produce their products.
But... get this... around 80% of clients who commission us to make things, or make things with us, are women. It's a completely different demographic from the typical "maker dude" who inhabits our friendly neighbourhood makerspace. Our repeat making clients are often making money out of making - we're helping to design and manufacture stuff that they sell. There's also an interesting line of products that helps people to sell - signage, packaging, point-of-sale displays.
We're also thinking about how making impacts on our locality. Traditional retail is in freefall - but we're finding that shops are being replaced by "makey" and "crafty" services. Our shop was (twenty five years ago) a greengrocer. Now it's "Makers". On our little block of 16 shops we see computer and phone repairs, a dressmaker, bicycle repairs, baking, and of course, a barber and takeaway food shops. Very nearby we find micro-brewers, woodworkers, picture framers, upholsterers, photographers...
These sorts of services seem, over time, to be replacing the once ubiquitous mini-marts and retail outlets that have been displaced by online shopping.
Recently, we've been a research partner in research into making (MakEY - Making in Early Years) which has been very interesting, but again does what academia is wont to do - assume that the product is learning. In my view, far from being over the hill, making may now be transforming from academic and hobbyist interest to actual economic models. I think it has huge potential to revitalise localities and communities, and I urge researchers to get involved. (Will lecture for food!)
But let's lose the glamour - and start thinking about real products, real places, and real business models. Want an example of "sustainable superlocal digital manufacture"? How about key cutting? Yeah, it's not so cool now, is it?
All the best,
James =====
On 11/06/2019 18:43, Graham Harwood wrote: I just want to interject a little into the Post-Maker universe.
I work a lot these days with the maritime, a technical culture of wooden boat repair that in Essex, I also worked a lot with people who restore old telephone exchanges and people who build steam engines - through having run a free media space in 00 ties were we hacked, pirated recycled at will. Among the many things that are interesting about these technical cultures is that they produce value for those engaged in the process - but this value has only a limited relation to the accumulation of capital. The maker phenomena could be seen in this context as a way to monetise the non-discursive technical cultures - a tinkering world that has an unbroken line back to at least the enlightenment but probably before. In 1799 the Royal Institution of Great Britain was established to put science to work for particular class and keep the theoretical away from a populace that presented a threat (the demon of the French revolution) - The Royal Institution was a place where an artisan class built technicals object but where not allowed in, or allowed to lecture.
Faraday had to have elocution lessons, learn how to eat properly before being allowed to lecture and even then had to be deemed a genius to escape the his class background and address gentleman. What Im trying to suggest is that non-discursive technical tinkering exist within many technical cultures and long may it remain so.
I'll tag on a little introduction this I wrote.
“The science which compels the inanimate limbs of the machinery, by their construction, to act purposefully, as an automaton, does not exist in the worker’s consciousness, but rather acts upon him through the machine as an alien power.” Karl Marx(1858)
In 1958 the French philosopher Gilbert Simondon published On the Mode of Technical Objects to address just this form of cultural alienation implicit in the quote above. He writes, among other things, about two ways in which people come to know technical objects. He says technology viewed from a child's eye, which I imagine he is seeing as, naive and innocent we gain an implicit, non-reflective, habitual tendency.
A baby strapped into a buggy, is given a parent's mobile phone and is happily learning to play a game but cannot yet utter the words to express these interactions. Simondon then imagines an inverse, a trained adult engineer, reflective, self-aware using rational knowledge that is elaborated through science. Something like an Apple engineer who creates closed technologies imagining its users still strapped in that buggy unable to articulate their critical needs.
Simondon seeks out another form of relationship with technical objects which he finds in the Enlightened Encyclopaedism of Denis Diderot and Jean le Rond d'Alembert (Encyclopédie (1751–1777)) in which concrete knowhow is abstracted and assembled into a technical orchestra. Contemporarily, is it worth considering our networked technologies in this mode of encyclopaedism? An evolving off-grid, red-neck, student, coder, geek pedagogy producing technical information, hacks, howto’s, shakedowns, and open source code repositories, that respond to an evolving technical culture. This technical republic is nothing new, it’s genealogies can be traced to and beyond the amateur experimentalistsof the London Electrical Society and William Sturgeon (1783 - 1850) and the artisanal formation that knowledge can be contained in the object built and it’s functioning is its explanation.
Is a tinkering internet a critical technical republic? A social space that potentially can break down the state actors with encryption, corporations by opening up software and proprietary technics by hacking them open, making things public? Is the marginal technics on a teenagers dirty bedroom, the dank basement of a bored salaryman, the ham radio garden shed a strategy to unfold the clean room and its magic men in white coats? Or is this largely a white male space that has eradicated other forms of objectivity and subjectivity from view? How can we attempt to instate a devolved technics that refuses misogyny, racialisation and yet envisages technology outside of the paradigm of human slave or potential human enslaver.

Looks good, I'd like to build a recycling machine and melt down some plastic at some point.
On a more local and mainstream level, my town has a show that sells 'upcycled' furniture which has been done up (new handles, repainted with flower motifs etc). Recycling and maker culture is great but I'd like to see more projects which are local or community oriented: this is essential to truly address the problem of waste. We separate glass in my borough, maybe we could feed that into local double glazing firms, or something else.

Best Selling Apps
If you have tons of stuff lying in your home and you want to get rid of all the used stuff that you have no use for, then selling them online is the easiest and fastest way to make a quick buck. There are several selling apps that let you sell your stuff online without you having to leave your home.
So, why use a selling app? Getting rid of all the stuff around your home can have plenty of benefits. And, apart from keeping your house cleaner and clutter-free, selling stuff can help to bring in extra cash. In the past, if you wanted to sell stuff, you would have to post listings in the classifieds section of your local newspaper or organize a garage sale, both a very tedious and cumbersome processes.
Now, there are several online selling platforms and apps that let you sell your stuff very quickly and earn a good profit with minimal hassle. In this article, we have listed some of the best selling apps and a lowdown of why these may be ideal for getting rid of your junk.
Decluttr
Decluttr is a great platform to sell the stuff you don’t want online and selling on Decluttr is quite simple.
You can download the Decluttr app from the Decluttr website for free and get an instant evaluation for what you want to sell by either entering the barcode of the items you want to sell or by scanning the items with the app free of cost.
You can enter around 500 items for each order.
If you accept Decluttr’s offer for your stuff, you need to put the items that you’re selling into a box and fix the prepaid shipping label sent to you by Decluttr.
You can then drop the box with the stuff at any UPS store with an authorized shipping dealer or a UPS driver.
You will receive your payment from Declutter via PayPal, check or a direct deposit, as soon as they receive your package or if you wish, they will make a donation to your favorite charity on your behalf.
Decluttr is a great and safe way to sell your stuff as you are not selling to individuals directly but to Decluttr, who will buy from you and sell on their website. You can sell your video games, DVDs, CDs, textbooks, smartphones, Kindles, iPads, iPods, iPhones, gaming systems, Lego sets, etc. on Deculttr.
While you may make a much lesser amount of money for your stuff with Decluttr than you would get by selling it to an individual, Decluttr offers you money on the spot saving you a lot of hassle. Also, you don’t have to meet people for the exchange.
Amazon Seller Marketplace
This is an excellent platform where you can sell your used stuff online. You can sell various categories of stuff such as electronics, books, tech gadgets and jewelry on Amazon Seller Marketplace. Amazon also offers paid monthly memberships for serious sellers who sell a significant number of things on a monthly basis. And, if you’re looking out to sell things occasionally, then you could opt for an individual plan, for which you will not incur a monthly fee but you will need to pay fees for listing and selling for every item you sell.
Letgo
Letgo is an extremely popular selling app, which is extremely easy to use and you can put up an item for sale in a jiffy on Letgo. You can sell various items on the Letgo app like clothes, tech gadgets, furniture, cleaning supplies, cars, etc. All you need to do is click a picture of the item you want to sell, set a price for the items and select a category that the item fits into. You also have the option of adding more details such as a title and a description of the items.
You can also change the price of the item or the location if you wish and share the item you want to sell on Facebook. You can easily list whatever you want on the Letgo app and it is displayed on top of the feed for the people who live locally in your area. The search feature of the Letgo app allows the buyers to search items by category, distance, listed date or/and by the price.
You will be contacted by potential buyers via Letgo’s chat tool for any clarifications or questions about the product or agreement to buy the product. The only limitation of the Letgo app is that you cannot make any transactions via the app and you need to do this between the buyer and yourself. However, the ease of use, neat user interface and in-app tips are some of the things that make the Letgo app among the best selling apps available in the market.
Facebook Marketplace
Facebook is one of the best selling apps where you can sell your stuff online. From the Facebook homepage, just click on “Marketplace” and then you can select the “+ Sell Something” option and then the category such as vehicle, item or place for rent and then create your listing.

Some groups may have themes like toys, baby clothes, etc., some are for individual item listing and others are for yard sales.
The Facebook Marketplace makes use of location-based listings to enable buyers and sellers connect with the people based locally to make the pick-up of the items much easier. Listing your items on the Facebook Marketplace is very easy. You just need to post a photo of the item, along with the description and fill some forms to describe the items. Chairish
Chairish is a selling app that basically acts as an online consignment shop for furniture and household items. It takes only around 2 minutes to list your items on the app. This app allows you to list only items related to home décor, but is an excellent way by which you can get rid of unwanted stuff in your home either locally by opting for a local pickup option or via the facilitated shipping. You can sell your furniture, rugs, lighting, mirrors, art, décor and other household items via Chairish.
All you need to do is click a picture of your furniture or other household items you want to see, create a listing of the items along with a title and description of the items and set a price. Chairish also offers tips on how to take the best photographs of your items you want to sell and displays the items to people whose home style matches your item.
Chairish verifies all the offers for your items before they are sent to you and the website allows you to offer discounts to buyers for a quicker sale. The site works on a consignment basis, which means that listing your items on the site is completely free but when the items are sold, Chairish takes around 20% commission on the sales. Chairish also helps with the pricing of your items, if you require the help, and also helps to organize the shipping of the items.
The buyer can return the item within 48 hours and if they decide to keep it, you will get around 80% of the listed amount or more immediately. Although the app charges you for their services, it a great app for selling for high-quality, high-value furniture items.
Carousell
This online selling app was started in Singapore and is now available in the US too. You can sell practically anything on Carousell, from clothes, furniture, kitchen appliances, beauty products, kids and baby stuff, items for him and her, books, textbooks, housing, toys and games, bicycles and parts, gardening and outdoor, musical instruments to automobiles.

Once your listing is up on the app, you can chat with the buyers via the app and arrange for the sales.
While you can list your items on Carousell for free, you need to arrange your own payment and pick up. You can either browse the listing via the homepage of the app or through the specific category you are selling or buying in, or you can also search via location. Carousell also offers a cool feature you don’t get with other apps i.e. “the bump”. This is a paid feature which lets your items get more views and gives you a better chance to sell them more quickly.
OfferUp
Offerup is a free-to-use seller app which is like eBay in the local version. The app allows you to add your products to a watchlist, use the chat feature to ask questions to the seller and also make counteroffers. OfferUp is a great place to sell and buy antiques, arts and crafts, baby and kid stuff, health and beauty products, DVDs, CDs, appliances, mobile phones, clothes, shoes, furniture, toys, games, books, home stuff, vehicles, auto parts, etc.
To list your items on Offerup, you need to click a picture of your items, you can upload between 1 to 4 pictures of the particular item, select a category and the condition of the item, enter the details of the item, set a price, verify your location and finalize the listings that allow your items to be viewed by the buyers. Offerup allows you to check out the profile of other users, their transaction history, ratings, badges to show their positive attributes, etc.
Both the buyers, as well as the sellers, can leave their feedback for any transaction and Offerup gives rewards to repeat sellers who offer good and satisfactory customer experiences. To ensure additional security, you can link your Facebook account also in order to prove your identity.
Vinted
If you want to clean out your closet, but don’t really know what to do with all your outdated clothes and accessories you want to get rid of, you could do it on Vinted and earn money. Vinted is an app especially dealing in clothes and accessories and allows you to swap your items or sell them.
There are no fees involved for swapping stuff and the only cost involved is shipping charges; however, you need to pay a commission if you’re selling your stuff. The app has started allowing listing of kids’ stuff like clothes, toys, games, etc. The Vinted app is very cost effective, especially if you’re swapping clothes with another user.
Listing of your items on the app is free and you can list your gently-used clothes and accessories. The interested buyer may ask you relevant questions about the products and once the deal is struck, you need to pack the stuff up and fix the label you receive from Vinted to the box and ship the items to the buyer.
Once the site confirms that the box has been received by the buyer, you will receive your payment. The biggest drawback of Vinted for sellers is the cost. Vinted charges a commission of 5% of the sale price of the item and also a $0.70 fee for each transaction.
eBay
eBay is a classic selling app that has been around for decades and is among one of the most popular apps for selling stuff online. When you think of selling stuff online, the first name that pops into your mind is eBay. You practically sell or buy anything on eBay, electronics, tech, gadgets, shoes, video games, phones, furniture, DVDs, etc.
The audience on eBay is huge and no matter whatever obscure an item you list, you’re sure to find a buyer for it. And selling on eBay is not all about auctions, you can even list the item with a steady price. eBay allows you to accept many methods of payment and you can also avoid shipping the item if you want by listing them for a local pick up.
The drawbacks of selling on eBay are the intensive process of listing, the fees which you pay for selling stuff and the issues you may have with selling the items because of the emphasis that is placed by buyers on the reputation of the seller.
Trove Marketplace
Trove Marketplace is a great online selling app for buying and selling new or used furniture both in your local area or town. First, you need to click a picture of the furniture that is for sale and select the category that it best fits into and add a title and description for the item.
You can list the item on Trove by setting a fixed price or you can also accept bids from buyers. But before you list the item, you need to sign in with Facebook or Google in order to complete your listing with Trove.
You can decide whether you want to accept the payment via credit card, debit card or cash. Once you accept the offer and confirm the price and the mode of payment, you can then meet with the buyer for the exchange. However, it is a good idea to first receive a notification from Trove about the receipt of payment from the buyer before handing over the item to them.
Cash4Books
This is a great online selling app to sell your old textbooks and other books. On Cash4Books, you need to enter the number below the barcode (ISBN Number) of the book that you want to sell and Cash4Books will give you an offer price.
Once you accept the offer price, Cash4Books will send you a prepaid shipping label. You can pack the books in a box, affix the label and ship the books to Cash4Books. When they receive the books and assess the condition, you will receive your payment via PayPal. It will take around 2 weeks to receive your payment.
Although Cash4Books buys all types of books, you can get the most amount of money from current, used college textbooks. So, if you’re a student who wants to make some money getting rid of old books that are of no use to you any longer, then you could sell them easily on Cash4Books.
5miles
This is a great selling app that allows you to sell any of your used stuff. The mission of 5miles is to create an online selling platform that is fun and simple to use. With this app, you can filter your search results to within 5 miles of your present location.
The app requires you to upload at least one photo of the product you are selling. You can add more photos if you want to. You need to then select the category that your product fits best into and you can also upload a video if you wish.
You then need to enter the description of the item, the price, your location and post the listing. Once you have posted the listing, you can also share it on popular social media platforms to gain additional traction. Apart from items like electronics, clothes, furniture, mobile phones, auto parts, watches, jewelry, sports, etc., you can also list local services, jobs, housing, garage sales, etc. on 5miles. While you can pay in the traditional way for what you buy on 5miles, you can also pay via the 5miles wallet, using your credit or debit card.
Depop
This is an online flea market in an app (incredible, isn’t it?!), which has plenty of vintage stuff for sale. The app does not charge any fees or commissions on the sales or on the things you buy. The site does not have any specific categories for the listings and most of the items on the site are clothing and accessories such as jeans, hats, shirts, jewelry, etc. Depop is an easy-to-use the site and if you have some cool, vintage clothing or accessories you want to sell, then this is the place for all of it.
So, which selling app is the right one for you? Well, there is no right answer to that question. You can determine the best app for selling you stuff on basis of your location, the items you want to sell, your payment preferences and the reputation of the app. By choosing a selling app carefully, you’re sure to not only get rid of all your unwanted stuff but also earn yourself some pocket money in the process.

Phan Cam: Open Mike Nite
WARNING: This may not post in time as this is suppose to take place on the last week of August.
Hiya, folks! Welcome to Day 2 of Dream FES: Open Mike Nite! This year’s Open Mike promises to be spectacular... And a bit short. First up, we have some lovely ladies who are about to prove just how strong they can be.
It’s just something a friend of ours wrote for us sometime ago. I know most people wouldn’t think she could do it, but she has more heart than any of us.
Yeah. If it hadn’t been for her, there are somethings we wouldn’t be able to do.
MC: She sounds like a great person. Does she have a name?
If you please, she wishes to remain anonymous. For certain reasons.
MC: So she’s shy? Okay, I won’t pry into it. Don’t want you Women of Power to beat me to a pulp.
>The audience laughs.
Oh well. I guess they wouldn’t believe an AI could be capable of writing a song.
I’m sure you’ll be getting credit someday. Just be patient.
MC: After that, we have Ryuji Sakamoto and his boy friends. So, this is the famous Skul5 I’ve heard about?
I wish. But I already have other guys in mind. My friends are just fillin’ in. We don’t even have a fifth member. But I ain’t givin’ up.
MC: I see. Hope you succeed.
Though I’m hopin’ Renren would consider joinin’ for real.
Sorry. But I think if I joined, Skul5 wouldn’t make sense since you’re suppose to be the leader. Besides, I still like to try other things.
As do I. Though, I’d like to try my hand at being an idol myself. But I think I have enough admirers to last me a long time.
>The audience laugh.
MC: A little too late for that, Akechi san. Although, one of your friends here might be showing what you mean.
(trying to back away from some girls trying to get on stage) No doubt.
MC: Sorry, ladies, but you have to keep off stage. Partly for health reasons. You don’t want to give our performers the coronavirus... Okay, bad joke. But seriously, stay off the stage. You should control yourselves.
Besides, he’s taken.
Indeed. My heart is already yours, Ren.
You heard ‘em: Access to Inari: Denied.
>All the girls whined in disappointment.
Don’t be sad. I’m sure, if Yusuke would agree to it, you can commission signed paintings. Is that okay?
Fox: I’ll see what I can do.
MC: Looks like you dodged a bullet there. And after the Substitute Skul5 performs, we have a special treat for all of you. A performance by one of the world’s newest superhero teams, the Future Avengers!
I don’t know how I got talked into this. I know I sang that song, but this is embarrassing.
Hey, this is Bruno’s idea. Any complaints you have now, direct them to him.
I just thought about doing this. I just wanted to see what it was like to be up here like this.
MC: So you signed in on a whim? (laughs a bit) Oh, man, I hope you know what you’re doing.
Bruno: I’ve watched enough of these concerts and previous Dream Festivals to know what to do. So I think we should be fine.
It also helps that Ryuji and KUROFUNE have been coaching us for this. We owe them thanks.
Skull: (a bit proud) You bet. We’ve done a lot.
We’ve also had help from a friend of ours online.
MC: Really? Who?
Kei: (nervous smile) You probably wouldn’t believe me if I told you.
MC: Try us.
Kei: ...
??????: Is this proof enough?
MC: Wow! I didn’t know you could throw your voice. Is that another power besides summoning kaiju?
Kei: No.
??????: I’m right here. Or, did you forget about us.
MC: (shocked) Oops! My bad. I forgot to introduce our co-hosts who will be joining us via video phone. First up, all the way in Paris, France, teen model and heart-throb, Adrien Agreste!
NOTE: I’d like to apologize in advanced for the following image.
Konnichi wa. I hope you all have a great show for us.
MC: By the way, Adrien san... Is that a sock floating over there?
Adrien: ... My cousin’s a great magician. I thought I’d try a trick of my own... Now watch me make the sock disappear.
>With that, the sock floats away off screen.
MC: Amazing! A model and a magician? Is there anything you can’t do, Adrien san?
Adrien: Well, the only thing I can’t do right now is actually go to Japan to enjoy Dream FES. Me and some of my friends were really looking forward to it. Especially if it were to take place at the Summer Olympics.
Skull: We actually didn’t think we were gonna have it this year because of the Summer Olympics. But D-Four said that we coulda still have performed there.
Adrien: And we all hope you will.
Skull: We will... If I could properly get Skul5 together.
Adrien: I’ll look forward to it. Me and my friends.
Thanks. We’ll look forward to it, too.
MC: Though distance separates them, their friendship holds them close. If this were the Love Meets Bonds Festival, this would be an even bigger tear jerker. Now, all the way from America, a rocker who who’s rocked New York even more than the virus or an alien invasion, sensation Ross Caliban!
What’s up, Tokyo! This is Dream FES!
>The crowd cheered.
Ross Caliban: Alright. I just I wasn’t trapped at home and have to watch this on screen. But no matter the distance, nothing can stop the beat. I bet even Spider-Man would agree.
Crow: I’m sure he will.
MC: Next, who decided to show up here in person, famed enka singer, Misuzu Hiiragi!
Thank you all for having me here.
MC: Now, Misuzu san, I know it’s going to sound like I’m prying, but I just herd you just got remarried. I guess that mean you and Taro Namatame really are through.
Misuzu Hiiragi: Pretty much. Though to be honest, even before the affair, Taro and I were pretty much drifting apart what with our jobs. But, we worked it out in the end and now we’re still good friends. He even introduced me to the man who is now my husband... Unofficially, of course. We’re still working some things out. He’s in the audience right now. How are you enjoying the show?
>Someone stands up.
Real fine. It’s no End of Summer or Summer Olympics, but it’s still a great show.
Misuzu Hiiragi: I’m glad you think that.
MC: (a bit surprised) Whoa! The King of Stride? Guess that makes you the Queen of Stride.
Misuzu Hiiragi: (laughs a bit) No, I think my stepdaughter’s claimed that title. Sorry.
>The audience laughs at the joke.
MC: Well-
>Suddenly, a stagehand rushes to the MC and hands him a note. He reads it.
MC: Well look at this! It appears we have a couple of last minute guest hosts.
Ross Caliban: Are you serious? Who?
MC: (reading the note more) I’m not sure. They say they wishes to remain anonymous. They’re even sending a couple of guys with personal computers because they don’t want to be traced.
>Suddenly, two men come up to the host table, each with a couple of laptops.
We’re here on behalf of our employers. They apologize for the sudden appearance.
They’re even willing to make a donation to make up for wasting your time.
MC: Well that’s very generous of them, but Stark Enterprises backs us up. But I’m sure it’ll be fine... It’ll even raise my pay check... (laughing) I’m just joking.
>The audience laughs as the two men set up the laptops. They turn on.
We apologize for the sudden appearance. You may refer to me as “E”.
And me as “H”. We just wish to enjoy your Dream Festival.
MC: So what have to mysteries on our hands. This Dream FES is really getting more and more exciting.
Adrien: I know. Now I really wish I was there.
MC: No doubt. Anyway, aside from our first two acts, we have plenty more... Including a mystery entry. Now, without further ado, let’s get on with the show!
Panther: We’re the first to go! Are you ready?
Queen, Oracle, Noir, and Violet: Ready!
Then let’s do this!
>The Women of Power begin performing You Are Stronger.
>After the song.
Adrien: Amazing! That performance was so cool! I bet even Clara Nightingale would be impressed.
Ross Caliban: No doubt. I’ve seen girl groups perform before, but wow... You girls really stole my heart!
Misuzu Hiiragi: You girls are no Rise Kujikawa or Kanamin Kitchen, but you five really show promising talent.
E: Yes. You all dance so beautifully. And that song about how people can be stronger than who they are? Sounds like an absolute inspiration.
H: So wonderful. I bet even the hard-hearted would be moved.
Panther: Thank you. And we thank our friend who responsible for it.
Sophie: (happily whispering) Thank you.
MC: Now on to our next group. Substitute Skul5?
Skull: It’s just the song I did last Dream FES. I hope you all like it this year.
Joker: Because it’s important to continue perusing what is in your heart.
Fox: Beauty exists in dream and your dream will not wait.
Mona: Though they may seem out of reach, this song will keep you going.
Crow: So let us sing and you will reach your goal in the speed of light!
Substitute Skul5: So, KEEP RUNNIN’ DREAM!

REMINDER: The following images are not in violation of the Tumblr policy as they do not actually contain sensitive or adult contain. They only show the upper half. Please do not flag.
>We change clothes.
Cheerful Jam Series! Complete!
>With that, we perform KEEP RUNNIN’ DREAM. Skull was right. If we could, we could become a real Unit with him instead of substitutes... But, we already have our paths set. Though they still go side by side, they are different, but our bond is unbreakable.
>After the song, the audience went wild.
Adrien: That was so cool! Even a close friend of mine agrees that you guys ere great.
Ross Caliban: I think you guys are awesome together. I know you guys are just armatures filling in, but wow!
Misuzu Hiiragi: My thought as well. It’s remarkable on how the song goes.
E: Yes. If my own friends could see this, they would love it.
H: Indeed. I think there may have been someone who may have had his heart touched by this... Despite him claiming that he didn’t have one.
>I can sense that’s right. But hearing about someone touching the heart of someone who claims to not have a heart does sort of remind me of Sophie creator... So why does my thought keep turning to Boss?
MC: Now, on to our next act! You know them as superheroes, but tonight, you will know them as stars. Give it up for the Future Avengers!
Bruno: I know Makoto is the leader, but are you ready!?
Makoto: We’re with you all the way, Bruno!
>Adi, Chloe, and Kei agree.
Bruno: Then let’s do it! This is a song I’ve been working on. The only down side is that we didn’t have time to pay for the Dream Festival System.* Now, let’s do this! Our song, Storms of Glory!
NOTE 2:* Actually, we forgot to add the Future Avengers act. We didn’t have time to use the Dream Festival System and I’m having trouble saving things on Tumblr, most likely due to how long this post is. But we’ll see if we can put up the song. Also, we like apologized if it sounds a bit rushed.
Bruno Little did you know, we’re not just some punks We’re what fly the air
Makoto You’ll never see it coming, you’ll be sunk Then you’ll know we’re there
Adi Don’t bother looking up, you’ll be down We bring the justice right now and here
Chloe Power and the sky will not let you frown The storm of glory is near
Kei Let’s go
Future Avengers Storm of Glory, blow your winds this way Your flight will lead us to victory No darkness will stand this day The day we shine and see
>After the song.
Adrien: It sounds a little rushed. But I suppose you deserve an A for effort.
Ross Caliban: But you do have a point, the song doesn’t really connect. But it was a good try. I’m sure you’ll get it next time.
Misuzu Hiiragi: I can tell that you have potential in the music depart ment aside from being a hero. Perhaps a little more pactice would be good for you.
E: I agree. It pays to practice. How about if things calm down, I can help you?
Bruno: You really mean that?
H: I believe she does.
Bruno: ... Thank you.
>A few acts later.
MC: And now for our last act. A mystery act because she wanted to surprise us. Now give it up for...
>Suddenly, the lights go out. Then, a spot light shows on stage... We were surprised by who was in it.
Surprise, everyone!
A- Akane!?
MC: Wow, Akane chan. I guess you had the Phantom Thieves in mind for this, huh?
Akane: Yeah. My friends helped me out with it.
Panther: I was in charge of the long socks and shoes.
Queen: The skirt, belt, and corset were me.
Oracle: I did the coat and gloves.
Noir: I commissioned the mask and top hat.
Violet: And I did the make-up.
MC: So it was a team effort? You have some great friends, Akane chan.
Akane: Pretty much. Sorry, Dad. I just wanted this to be a surprise.
Wolf: ...
MC: Looks like your pops is still having a hard time processing this. I’d explain why, but that would be entering some thorny territory. So, is the song also after the Phantom Thieves?
Akane: That’s right. This one’s for you, my Thieves!
>With that, Akane performs He’s a Trickster⭐.
>After the performance, the crowd cheered loudly. Even Wolf couldn’t resist... Then he mouths something to her.
Wolf: We’ll talk about the highly inappropriate outfit later. Right now, you did great tonight.
Akane: Thanks.
Adrien: I can really feel the Phantom Thief vibe. And I thought Cat Noir appears to be the mysterious type... Or especially Ladybug.
Ross Caliban: Well, I think the outfit’s a bit of an overkill, but it definitely shows your devotion to the group. Believe it or not, I’m a bit of a Phan-boy myself. Don’t worry, Spider-Man’s still number one in my book.
Misuzu Hiiragi: But I agree, the outfit’s overkill. However, red is definitely your color.
E: Yes. You really put your heart into this. Believe me, I know.
H: I sense it too, even though I am not there. You wanted to show your appreciation to your heroes.
Akane: Thank you.
MC: Well, that about wraps it up for tonight. Tomorrow night, we will see which Idol will make it to the Top Three and become True Idols and get a music deal. We’ll see you then!
>The audience applauded.
>Later back stage, the MC was taking some coffee when he heard someone talking in the shower room.
WARNING: Some nudity ahead, but nothing will be shown. Just the upper half. Please don’t flag.
I think tonight was rather exciting. I think that’s the first time me and Morgana have ever used the System.
Mona: (no picture available) I know. I hope Lady Ann was watching.
Are you seriously thinking about that? We know about your infatuation with her, but asking if she saw your magical boy transformation? Don’t you think that’s a bit much?
Crow: Can you blame him? It’s a whole new sensation. Is this how it always feel when you use it?
You bet. It feels like you’re bein’ empowered by the fans and everyone else who believes in you. Kinda like our Personas.
Fox: They say clothes make the man, I think this takes it up a level.
Crow: Yes. But of course, we shouldn’t forget the actual performance. Singing and dancing our hearts out. We’ve come a long way since Dancing in Starlight.
We sure have. It seemed not too long ago when we did that. I know we were told that it was just a dream and that we would forget about it when we woke, but the experience will always be in our hearts.
Mona: That’s right. We’ll never truly forget.
>We all smiled happily.
Skull: It’s just a shame the others weren’t here. Oka, Nobu, and Ichiro. And we still haven’t even found a fifth guy. Because of the virus, we can’t have any auditions.
Crow: You could try hold online auditions.
Skull: ...
FOR REAL!? You coulda said so earlier!?
>We all laugh... Even the MC couldn’t hold it in... And he got an idea.
Crow: Is someone there?
Joker: (using Third Eye) I have something... It’s the MC.
MC: (nervous) Sorry! You just had the door open and I couldn’t help it. Don’t worry, I didn’t peek. But I have thought about what you said about Skul5 needing a fifth member. I know I shouldn’t be saying this because it may seem like favoritism, but... I think I might know a guy who might work out.
Skull: For real? Who?
MC: He’s this really nice kid I met while I was staying at this nice little pension... in Karuizawa...
>To be continued...
APOLOGY: Sorry. We know the MC said this would short, but it wasn’t.
Also, the Joker sprite is by Hex.

Help, my family and I are getting kicked out of our apartment next week because we couldn't afford to pay the rent and we barely been scraping by. I'm not sure I can handle living in a shelter, like my mom says we might have to. Do you know what I should do? Any experiences?
I’m sorry to hear that. Getting kicked out of the place you live is one of the worst experiences you could ever have. This is going to be a long answer so I’m going to put it under a cut.
First, check your options. Do you have any family or friends in the area that would be willing to house you for a while? Even if it’s for a month or two, it’s at least time off the streets. My mom was lucky enough to have a co-worker that would sublet to us before their lease on their house was up, and I was able to stay with my girlfriend at her mother’s place for almost half a year.
I will stress this but DON’T TAKE OUT LARGE LOANS AND USE THE MONEY ON HOTELS/MOTELS. It sucks not having a real bed to sleep in after a while, I know, but don’t do what we did and take out a loan to fix the car and then spend the remaining money on hotel rooms. Even with third-party sites like Hotels.com, Hotwire, and Booking, it can get really expensive really quickly, especially if you miss things like microwaves and fridges which always make the room cost more.
If those options aren’t available, I would recommend finding a job (if you both don’t have one already) and putting up donation links on your tumblr or any social media site that will allow you to have an external link just as a start. Open up commissions for drawing or writing if you can. While I want to say not to rely too much on the kindness of strangers, just putting a post out there means there is still a chance at least that you’ll get something.
I will say to try an invest in a gym membership, not to stay active though that is a bonus, but to have access to a shower. We went through the YMCA but there’s other places like Planet Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness that are also good options. Believe me, depression when homeless is awful and sometimes having a shower is an instant mood lifter.
Like with the shelters, look into low income housing as soon as possible. Apply for organizations that will work with you into getting you into another apartment or house as soon as they can. The wait time on them can be tricky since some people wait over a year for a place, but that’s makes applying early all the more important. Having a guaranteed place a year from now is better than not having a place for three or four years.
Second, finding a library nearby is also a good idea to check on said links and checking job search websites like Indeed. I highly recommend Indeed since they not only show jobs around your area, but they also allow you to upload a resume directly to the website that you can use on their easy application postings.
Third, finding a shelter now before you’re evicted is a good idea because sometimes they won’t take people right away or they’ll need you to have a reservation with them. Make sure the place is clean and has a decent reputation. My family and I never had a chance to get into a shelter mainly for the reservation reason, but we did have an alternative that I’ll talk about now.
If you have a car, sleeping in it’s not as bad as you think, but that’s going to be your home until you have a spot in a shelter so you have to take the utmost care of it. Make sure you have sheets of fabric (preferably thick or dark) or towels that you can put over the windows when you sleep and plenty of blankets because, depending on how well insulated your car is, it can get cold really fast especially during the winter and fall months (At least that’s how it was for me, but then again I live near San Francisco). Find nearby rest stops on highways and get there as early as possible to ensure a spot (I cannot tell you how many times we had to find another spot to sleep when we came late). In my experience, rest stops start filling up around 5-6 pm and are full by 8-9.
You’re going to have pretty much everything you own in the trunk of your car, so try to keep it as organized as possible so that you know where everything is. Have cans of dry shampoo (I recommend Not Your Mother’s spray on dry shampoo. They’re relatively cheap, about $2.50 to $5 depending on where you get it from) for when you can’t take a shower. When it comes to food, try to get things that you can eat in your car and throw away without much fuss. I wouldn’t recommend canned stuff since, unless you want to eat it cold, you’ll have to buy a miniature stove/hotplate and a pot for it. Dried and cured foods like jerky is good for a quick meal but those can get expensive depending on the brand. Thermoses and reusing water bottles also goes a long way since you’ll need to stay hydrated as much as you can.
I’m sorry I don’t have much advice on the shelters, but this is the best advice I can give you. If you’re confused on anything, please don’t hesitated to send another ask or send me a direct message through the chat here. Homelessness is not fun, and it helps to have someone to talk to who’s had experience. Hopefully your situation gets better sooner rather than later!

It’s no secret, especially on this blog, how much I love Beetlejuice. However, there has been an unforgivable shortage of Beetlejuice merchandise on the mainstream market until fairly recently. Apparently, it has something to do with the movie’s 30th anniversary, even though that would have technically taken place sometime in March. But hell, I’m not complaining.
I’m a simple girl. I see black and white stripes in a store - I walk in. Consequently, I’ve been practically abusing my poor wallet who I believe is now intending to write a callout post on me in the foreseeable future. It’s gotten so bad that at the first opportunity I actually darted out of school to catch an unbearably lengthy bus ride to get to the mall so I can grab what appeared to be the last tiny Beetlejuice bag in the store. I did this because when I was binge-shopping online, the bag was already sold out. This gave me anxiety.
This gave me anxiety.
Yeah, it’s gotten that bad.
So I’m in Hot Topic, and a sales associate, who is basically radiating customer service, keeps insisting we’re friends and is helping me to spend more than I intended to. This is in no way a difficult feat, and frankly, she’s very good at her job.
I leave the store with my prize, my little Beetlejuice bag, as well as a small assortment of other unnecessary items, including a poor-quality makeup palette, pins for a project I will likely never start, and a patch inspired by Stephen King’s IT, because I am part of the cancer that is eating away at Tumblr.
After this, I made my way out and back to the bus stop. As I’m sitting, clutching my treasures, a visibly homeless man sitting next to me points to the large building beside us and asks “is that the mall?”
I was a little confused by the question because the answer seemed obvious, so I said: “uh...yeah.” He thanked me and started heading in that direction.
As I watched him go, I saw that even with his walker, he could barely walk. He had to pause every few steps because each step took considerable effort. As I watched pitifully, not knowing what to do, I realized that the easily accessible mall entrance was closed for construction. Leaving him with two options: Go up a large and narrow stairway to get to the top of the parking lot, only to have to make a long trek around to get to an entrance, or go even further down to follow the road itself to get in. Not thinking of any better response, I rushed up to tell him.
I don’t know what I was expecting to accomplish. I half-expected he’d give up and take a seat that it seemed he so desperately needed, despite having been seated earlier. But no, he starts going up the stairs. First his walker, then him; dragging himself up step by step. And with every step, My heart broke.
Now maybe I’m an idiot, but I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t have the strength to help him up and I didn’t know if I should stop him. How could I help?? It wasn’t until he was halfway up that I realized I should have called an Uber or something to get him to the entrance. By that point, I was afraid of making him come back down. So I watched fearfully as he continued. Slowly making his way to the top.
Once he had done so, I waged an internal war as to what to do now. I was afraid of running up to him again and seeming creepy like I was following him or something. The last thing I wanted to do was add to his discomfort. So I went up the stairs and tried to casually walk by. As I was doing so I said “Sir...I’m about to call an Uber to get home. Do you want a ride to the front of the mall? Is there somewhere you need to be?”
He replied: “Oh...I just really need shoes. These ones are really worn down and my feet are getting worn down.” I looked down at his black, plastic slippers which were falling apart, and what looked like hospital socks caked in layers of dirt, which were also in decay. I don’t know what his plan was. Perhaps he was going to beg for shoes. Either way, I couldn’t let that happen. I guided him to a side entrance to the mall and go with him inside, offering to buy him shoes and socks, just like he wanted. He was so grateful. He said I was a blessing in disguise.
It was then I realized I didn’t have any money left.
I guided him to a seating area and asked him to wait just a few minutes while I went to get some money. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I was trying to figure out how long it would take to get an Uber all the way back home so I can get my card and take it all the way back to the mall. I didn’t want to keep him waiting.
Randy, as I learned was his name, was very forgetful. He spoke very slowly and seemed to struggle at times to think of words. He also forgot things that were said in short-term, resulting in him asking the same questions sometimes. This didn’t bother me. He spoke like a man who had likely experienced a stroke in his lifetime. However, I was afraid he was going to forget that I was coming back and he was going to wander off if I took too long.
After a couple minutes of panicking, I resolved to use my phone to withdraw money from a nearby ATM. Thanks to a foot injury, though, I needed a ride to get there. During this time, my battery was at 1%, and I don’t think I’ve ever felt more stressed withdrawing money in my life.
Which is saying something because I’m a college student.
When I got back, money in bra (as per usual), Randy was thankfully just sitting there. He said he had never been in a mall before, and it was really nice. We went into a nearby shoe store and with some help from the associates found a nice pair of shoes that fit him and a pack of new socks.
He was so happy, as was I. As we left the shoe store he said he wanted to get to know me. Though I knew he would likely not remember any of the things I told him, I decided to tell him a little bit about what I was studying. Then I asked about him. He said that his last name used to be different, but he changed it to his mother’s last name. He confessed to me some of the mistakes he had made in his life, which, out of respect for him I won’t write, but now all he wanted was peace.
I asked if he was hungry and he admitted he was, so we went to the Food Court. I got him whatever he wanted.
I’m saying all of this not to get praise or be told “good for you for being kind to a homeless guy!”
No, I don’t care about that. I don’t need to be commended for acting decently. I don’t need a pat on the back for goodwill. That should be the bare minimum we all strive for. It doesn’t have to be buying shoes or socks, but it should be a basic amount of kindness that we are all willing to extend to one another. I don’t see myself as a special or saintly just because I helped Randy out once. I just wanted to share this eye-opening experience with you. Because I had never been so acutely aware of how privileged I was. I had been so anxious over a Beetlejuice bag.
A Beetlejuice bag.
And Randy just wanted - and desperately needed - a pair of shoes.
The juxtaposition was not only eye-opening but alarming.
As we parted ways, I regretfully told him I couldn’t join him to eat because I had a lot of work to do back at school. This was true. But I gave him some bus money. Now, I’m not naïve. Whatever he decides to do with that money is his business, I’m not here to pass any form of judgment. I just hope he ends up alright.
The funny thing is, he asked me how he could repay me. Of course, I said not to worry about it, that I didn’t need anything in return. But the truth is, he already did. I’m really grateful for his company and the opportunity to get to know him.
I can’t guarantee that I won’t stress over something stupid or frivolous ever again. But I do know this - I am no longer taking any of it for granted. Despite all of my struggles, I know I am so lucky to have all of the things that I do, including the roof over my head. And if I have enough left over to buy merchandise for my favorite corpse, then the least I can do is spend my money on something that will actually help someone.
Randy, I’ll keep my promise.
If you are like me in any way - firstly, I’m so sorry. Second, if you want to help those in need, in addition to buying the occasional art commission that floats around on here, I recommend donating to help the homeless. Here are a few organizations to look at which are inclusive of people within the LGBTQA+ community.
Let’s do better together. But I won’t depend my actions on anyone else or project my decisions either. I’m holding myself accountable too. Because I made a promise.
In a country like the USA with so much privilege and opportunity there is an increasing wealth gap which is resulting in an unacceptable dichotomy of classes. Homelessness is a major issue. As someone who’s family emigrated to the US to escape poverty and hunger, who saw the US as the Land of Opportunity, it breaks my heart when we let those who believe in that dream down. Everyone deserves a chance to live, not just survive.

The reel deal
Hannan Majid and Richard York run the Rainbow Collective – a film production and training company that uses film to bring about social change. They tell us about the work they do in Peckham and Nunhead

If you watch a film screened at a cinema in Leicester Square, or at an international film festival, it’s usually adults who are listed during the credits.
Sometimes, though, it could be the names of Southwark schoolchildren running down the screen, and they have probably made their work with Rainbow Collective.
Hannan Majid and Richard York met at film school in Leeds in the early 2000s, and went on to found their production company in 2006, specialising in creating documentaries that highlight human rights issues.
Hannan and Richard began making documentaries together in 2004, in South Africa and then in Bangladesh, creating films with a childhood angle. They have since worked in countries including Turkey, Jamaica and Iraq.
“When we started in South Africa we were focussed on children’s rights, their right to education,” says Hannan. “Then in Bangladesh we started doing documentaries looking at street children and child labour.”
The team also focused on the garments industry, working with trade unions to create films like Udita (which means “arise”) in 2015 – a documentary about female garment workers in Bangladesh’s sweatshops.
Rainbow Collective has also made films for broadcasters like Al Jazeera, but always ensured anything that was filmed could be taken apart and used by campaigners like TRAID (which has a shop on Rye Lane).
“It [Udita] was successful when it got broadcast, but what really inspired us was how it could be used as a campaign piece,” says Richard. “It was released at the same time as a report called Fashion Victims so could be used alongside it.
“Not many people knew about garment workers, people knew about ‘fast fashion’ but not necessarily the people behind it and what it meant.”
Unlike the usual, presenter-led pieces made by broadcasters, everything was told through the eyes of the subjects. Hannan says: “It opened our eyes, showed us that you can make a great film but it still has a practical use, a social impact.”
Four years ago, with technology changing and becoming more accessible, the pair began to hand creative control and direction over to their subjects – “putting the artistic control into the hands of the communities”, explains Richard.
They took equipment like little cameras and iPod touches – all small, relatively affordable and easy to use – to the street children in Bangladesh, working with LEEDO, a charity that aims to improve the lives of street children.
Richard describes this as a creative revelation for himself and the children. “They would come up with storyboards,” he says. “A lot of them couldn’t read or write but they would tell a story in say, 10 images, about something important in their life.”
Hannan and Richard would teach the children how to film according to their own storyboard. They’d get other children they knew to be in the films, and do voice-overs to go with the footage. “They’re neorealist,” says Hannan of the films.
“The street kids are actual street kids, their surroundings are all real, but then they have a script. And that’s an old-fashioned technique that the masters of Bengali filmmaking were using in the 50s and 60s, which I think is really special.”
The films were shown at conferences, to politicians and lawyers and at universities, and the children’s lives were changed. “They went from being street kids – basically seen as vermin – to being looked on as directors and ambassadors,” says Hannan.
“There would be 50 to 60 people in a theatre, and a Q&A with the street kids. Journalists from Bangladesh and all over the world, sat on the floor listening to these kids. What does that do for a child’s confidence?”
It was a sustainable, permanent project, too, and Richard and Hannan go back to visit regularly to see the films being made there.
Among all their other projects – focusing on subjects like women’s centres and screening their work all over the world – Rainbow Collective started using a stop-motion animation app with the Bangladeshi children.
They made animated films about how many young people don’t have a birth certificate in Bangladesh as they’re so expensive, which means they don’t have access to schools or hospitals and basically become undocumented people.
The films showed in India, Europe and America, and the team did similar projects in other countries such as Cambodia and Jamaica. Then they brought the project to the UK, holding a session at a community hall in Camberwell over the summer holidays.
The animation the children made was named Film of the Month by the Into Film scheme run by the BFI, which encourages watching, making and critical understanding of film for five to 19 year olds.
Richard and Hannan then visited tenants’ and community groups in Peckham, Nunhead, Camberwell, Elephant and Castle, Borough and Bermondsey to let people know what they could offer to local young people.
“It was a great experience,” says Hannan. “We met some really interesting people, but also found communities fighting demolition, surrounded by gentrification.”
They saw how useful projects like theirs could be, how many stories there are to tell and issues to highlight.
“One of the main things about moving our work back to England is that for years we’d been working on issues like the right to education in the so-called ‘developing world’, and the disparity between here and there is closing so fast,” says Richard.
“We only started realising recently that a lot of the issues , from workers’ rights to the rich/poor divide – which we’ve been campaigning against and highlighting abroad – are happening right here in London, in Southwark. It's incredibly messed up.”
The short films they’ve helped children make in places like Peckham and Nunhead are impressive. They’re aesthetically reminiscent of The Magic Roundabout and feature the children’s voices.
They cover difficult subject matters, such as families using food banks, the pressures of playground life and bullying. Another film focused on the closure of a much-loved public playground in Peckham’s Leyton Square, which the council is set to rebuild.
Hannan and Richard have just held a community conference when we meet, with more than 100 residents’ groups in attendance, organised with Southwark Council and the community. The children’s films were presented there.
“It’s important to do things like that so the community can see what the children have done and say, ‘Keep our community centres open, so our children have a safe space to come and be creative,’” says Hannan.
“And to say to the council, ‘You’ve got to support them in doing this!’ Whether it’s film, music, sports, the arts… the council have to make sure they are funding these types of things, so the tenant and residents’ associations are in a position to keep things open.”
But it doesn’t stop there. “Doing activities in the community centre is great, and showing the work in the community centre is great,” says Richard. “But in terms of the aspirations of these young people – their stuff has to go further into the world.”
They are both passionate about addressing representation in filmmaking and the media, especially behind the camera: producers, directors and camera crew. “It’s still rich, white and super-educated – very elite,” says Richard. “It had started shifting, but now it’s closing ranks again.”
Rainbow Collective can help here, by getting kids’ films shown at Films for Food events (where movie-goers give food bank donations rather than cash for tickets), the Barbican, the House of Commons and the BFI.
They’ve also organised screenings at Odeon cinemas, Tate Britain and the Equality and Human Rights Commission, museums, universities, film festivals (including those in Peckham, Nunhead and Camberwell) and schools around the world.
The children’s work has been played alongside productions by Bafta-winning directors and award-winning films from Tribeca film festival, and it has been watched by “high-brow” directors, critics and audiences.
“It’s on a level, one is presented alongside the other,” says Richard. “It’s looking at their stuff and giving it that respect, saying, ‘People around the world want to watch this’.”
This all builds towards something that young, aspirational filmmakers can use to further their careers, despite not necessarily coming from the affluent background that can make a creative career seem more realistic.
“In the end what we get to is that when these kids are 16, their showreel and the places they’ve shown their films will outstrip any super-rich kid who’s done their A-levels,” says Richard. “They might have loads of fancy kit their parents have bought them, but have they shown their films in the States, or India?”
It’s wider than that too, says Hannan: “It’s not just a great showreel – it’s a confidence thing as well. Going into a university environment, young people from very different types of backgrounds and who look very different, can still be confident, with experience and expertise.”
The aim is to create a generation of young people from Southwark who aren’t phased by the technical language of academic and professional film institutions, who are confident in their own skills and in communicating, thinking up and executing ideas.
One of the children at a Southwark workshop recreated Peckham High Street in animation form. “They're all proud of where they’re from,” says Hannan. “They love Peckham.
“But Peckham's changing so much, and those of us who have been here for a long time – kids and their families – they can see it changing and as it changes we know how gentrification works. People get edged out, and how do you combat that?”
The next topic children at the Peckham workshop will be looking at is presenting their own version of Peckham: what makes them feel proud about being here, happy about where they’re from and growing up here.
“It’s a nice sentiment,” says Hannan. “But like the other animations it will also have a bit of social commentary. It’s got something to say.”
With projects in the pipeline linking up young people all over Southwark, work with older people exploring issues that affect them, and a documentary film looking at the battle to save the Ledbury Estate, you can be sure that whatever Rainbow Collective do next, it will have something to say.

TouchArcade Needs Your Help to Survive: Here's All the Ways You Can Support Us (Some for Free!)
Two years ago now we launched our Patreon and since then while support from our community has been encouraging, we're still only half way to our goal to get back to firing on all cylinders. As you've likely noticed, there haven't been any new names on the site since Brad Nicholson left quite some time ago, as we're largely treading water trying to stay alive on the incredibly limited resources we have. I personally think third party editorial outlets like TouchArcade are very important to the health of online ecosystems like the App Store, and I believe we provide a significant value to our readers and iOS developers every day. All we're asking for is a value for value exchange, and if you feel you derive any value from reading TouchArcade (or anything from the TouchArcade community), please support our efforts to continue doing what we're doing. Here's all the ways you can do that:
Advertising
If you're an iOS developer looking to raise awareness of your game, advertising on sites like TouchArcade is a great way to reach a hyper-targeted audience of iOS gamers and industry influencers who view the site multiple times a day. We offer options ranging from sponsoring our podcast, advertising on our forums, or even completely re-skinning the site. Apple's editorial featuring games team constantly visits TouchArcade, along with (obviously) our whole staff, so having well-placed ads on a site like TouchArcade can be exponentially more effective at getting word out about your game than paying a PR person (likely way more money) to send us emails. For more information, contact our ad sales manager at [email protected].
Supporting Us on Patreon
Patreon is our primary funding source these days. If you're unfamiliar, you're able to more or less "subscribe" to creators (like us) whose content you value. We offer several different tiers of support, which grant things like cosmetic rewards on our forums, as well as access to a Patreon-only chat channel on our Discord server. All Patreon backers also get a video version of our podcast. Developers who support us on Patreon on the "Indie Developer" tier and above get access to a developer chat on on Discord for direct access to TouchArcade staff (and other developers), along with other developer-exclusive content like a business insights email newsletter, event reports, and more. We're also in the process of working with a few different highly relevant companies for exclusive discounts for Patreon backers, although nothing has been finalized just yet.
Overall, a good way to look at our Patreon is to think of TouchArcade as a magazine you'd subscribe to. If you used to pick up a copy of GamePro every month for five bucks (back when magazines only cost five bucks), kick us $5 instead. We provide way more content than print magazines ever could, in an infinitely more timely manner. If you'd like to support the site for more than that because we've saved you money over the years by helping you avoid bad games or by highlighting games you wanted when they were on sale... Even better! The way we look at it is that there's nothing more valuable than time, and we work well over a full time schedule to try and save YOU time by not having to sort through the crap on the App Store. If we've provided value to you in any of these ways, please consider giving back to us with your support.
Amazon Prime Members Can Subscribe to Us on Twitch for Free
If you're an Amazon Prime member, you get way more benefits than fast shipping that you might not even be aware of. One of those perks is Twitch Prime. Once you link up your Amazon account with Twitch, aside from a bunch of random gaming-related freebies, you'll also be able to subscribe to one Twitch channel per month for free. We hope you use that free subscription on our Twitch channel. Something to keep in mind with these free Twitch subscriptions is they do not auto-renew. You'll need to manually re-subscribe every month, so if you'd like to go one tiny step further for us, set a recurring reminder on your iPhone's calendar to remember to do this.
Subscribe on Twitch and/or Cheer with Bits
If you're not an Amazon Prime member, you can still subscribe to our Twitch channel, it just costs $4.99. Something to keep in mind with this is the Twitch revenue share is 50/50, so if you just want to support the site and don't really specifically care about Twitch, your dollars go way farther over on Patreon as they take significantly smaller payment processing fees. But, hey, if you just love Twitch and want the perks that come with a subscriber, rock on.
Twitch Bits Donation
Another thing you can do on Twitch to help us out is cheer us with Bits. It's a new thing Twitch recently added that let you more or less "tip" the active streamer with a Twitch-exclusive currency that gets added to our account which Twitch eventually pays out on. Much like subscriptions, the revenue share on Twitch Bits isn't great, but you can get them for free if you're willing to view some ads on Twitch. Cheering is pretty fun while streaming as there's a whole lot of fanfare when Bits come in, they get added to a tip cup, and Twitch chat gets all excited.
Shop on Amazon Through Our Affiliate Link
If you do a lot of shopping on Amazon, visiting the easy to remember URL toucharcade.com/amazon and clicking through our link gives us credit as the referral for everything you buy. Amazon then gives us a very tiny percentage of the sale, which they'd otherwise just keep for themselves. They have widely varying commission rates, but everything (short of just buying cash gift cards) awards us something.
Amazon Pantry items are among the highest commissions Amazon pays, so if buy a lot of non-perishables and other home goods on Amazon, clicking our link first would be amazing- It also helps keep the joke alive that TouchArcade is in part supported by toilet paper sales since mobile gamers spend a lot of time playing on the toilet.
One-Time Contributions via PayPal
One thing a lot of people have asked us for is the ability to do one-time payments via PayPal. As part of setting up everything to make our Twitch channel work, we also have a more user-friendly way to do one-time payments. Click here, fill out the form, and it'll toss you over to PayPal to complete your payment. All of your PayPal information remains confidential, so we'll really only know what you fill out on the one-time contribution page. If you want to cover PayPal fees, there's a checkbox for that too. One thing to keep in mind with this is that since this whole thing is built with Twitch in mind, it's outside of all the automated stuff we've built for Patreon. If you don't care about those rewards, rock on. Additionally, if we're streaming when you donate, it'll automatically read your note on stream.
Whitelist TouchArcade on Your Ad Blockers
I know this is a ultra-touchy subject for some people, but if you use an ad blocker, please whitelist the TouchArcade domain. We (to the detriment of our own success) run the site with minimal ads which are manually screened to avoid anything that spawns pop-ups, auto-plays sound, or anything else annoying. We respect our readers, and while we'd be doing tons better if we had full-screen and totally irritating interstitials, I think all that does is encourage more people to block your ads. If you just block everything because you assume all sites these days have in-your-face ads, just try whitelisting us. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. And, hell, if you really want to block our ads, just kick us a few bucks in one of these other ways and we'll be square.
Tell Your Friends and/or Share Our Stories on Social Media
If you love TouchArcade, but really just aren't interested in supporting the site financially, you can still do us a solid via word of mouth. If a friend of yours just got a new iPhone, recommend they check out TouchArcade to find some great games to download. Additionally, we go out of our way to produce great long-form content which typically doesn't generate that much search traffic. For instance, Shaun's amazing RPG Reload series, which I think is some of the best content we publish, are among the worst performing articles on the site. If you read something here that you find insightful, or otherwise interesting, please take a moment to encourage your friends to check it out on Twitter or Facebook. You might think one share doesn't mean much, but we can clearly tell the difference in site analytics.
Thanks for Reading
As always, thanks so much to everyone who has supported us over the years. You're the main reason we're still around, and we hope to keep doing what we've been doing for years to come. Hitting our original Patreon goals would allow us to hire more writers, attend more events, refresh the site, and potentially even explore options with our iOS app. We've managed to successfully fight against the tide of needing to run SEO-bait listicles, get involved in sponsored content, and all the other gnarly things web sites are doing to stay alive all because of you.
Thanks everybody!

Borough residents will stock Birchwood Lake with hundreds of rainbow trout; donated by the borough. The average length for the trout is 11 to 16 inches, but a few bigger ones will be thrown in the bunch. And those giants will be swimming around, waiting to be hooked by a lucky angler. On average, the derby sees 300 young people trying to catch the biggest rainbow trout. The heavier the fish, the bigger the prize and the bigger the trophy. Prizes can include new fishing equipment, toys, camping supplies, and even bigger stuff like a kayak. Prizes are given for the first trout caught and then throughout the derby for any trout caught and brought to the prize table for measurement and registration, said Morlock. The derby ends at 10 a.m. when the overall winner and multiple runner up winners are determined based on who has caught the longest fish, and next longest fish, etc. The Mountain Lakes PBA has been generous in donating prizes for the event. The derby attracts numerous donations, and is a big draw, according to Mayor Peter Holmberg. The trout derby is one of the great events that takes place in town each year, said Mayor Holmberg. Not only does it does it bring the residents together around one of our most beautiful parks and lakes, but it allows one generation to pass on the camaraderie and sport that fishing has to offer.

Step 1 Hold the swivel between your thumb and forefinger with one eye of the swivel exposed. Insert the end of the fishing line into the eye. Pull about 8 inches of line through the eye as the tag end that is used to make the knot. Step 2 Wrap the tag end of the line over the fishing line five times, starting next to the eye and working away from the swivel. Wrap without creating tension on the line in order to form a loop near the eye of the swivel. Insert the tag end through the loop near the eye of the swivel and pull it through a few inches without tightening the knot. This will form a second loop atop the wraps you've made along the fishing line. Step 3 Make an additional wrap and insert the tag end through the loop atop the wraps. Pull the tag end until both loops close. Hold the tag end firmly and pull the swivel in the opposite direction to tighten the knot. Step 4 Cut the tag end about 1/16-inch from the knot using nail clippers or small scissors. Hold the fishing line in one hand and the swivel in the other. Pull the line and swivel in opposite directions to make sure the improved clinch knot is secure.
