get to know me(me)
@deadgirlsupremacy tagged me in this a while ago, it's taken me this long to actually get on desktop tumblr where I can type like a human being lol. tag whoever you want to get to know better!
Three ships: Let's say Mulder/Scully because I'm watching their show now, Geralt/Yennefer because I love them, and still Amy/Rory even 10+ years later.
First Ship: I have a vivid memory of first seeing the scene where Arwen gives her Evenstar pendant to Aragorn playing on the tv in a video rental store when I was like, twelve, and SHIPPING IT.
Last song: Spotify says it was "Needlessly Wild" from the new Sleater-Kinney.
Last Film: The X-Files: Fight the Future, because I started season 6, realized I missed the movie, and had to go back. If it weren't for that dang bee Scully and Mulder would have kissed by now!
Currently Reading: Death Valley by Melissa Broder. I am also pulling a bunch of comics and am woefully behind on most of them. Mostly reading X-Men stuff, but also have been really into G. Willow Wilson's Poison Ivy ongoing.
Currently watching: The X Files season 6! I had seen a handful of episodes but never the whole show so I finally decided to put it on. I love Scully and I love Mulder and the 90s TV vibes are very soothing to me. Also speaking as a bisexual, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are both, like, exactly my type lol.
Currently consuming: Does this mean food? Other media? Let's say I have become obsessed with marzipan lately. It was everywhere for Christmas and I even got some marzipan flavored tea at the German Christmas market downtown.
Also have been playing crazy amounts of MTG: Arena, if you want to add me over there let me know.
Currently craving: Again, is this food? Something else? My great desire is for my brain to be in book reading mode (TM) as often as it is in book buying mode (also TM).
Tagging @bendingwind, @tardis-stowaway, @traincat, @aimlessglee, @karolinasdeans, @softbrah, @aleksrothis and anyone else who feels like it!

☕️ not really a topic but i would LOVE it if you try to convince someone who has not seen a single episode of x files (me) to watch x files
thank you for this dream assignment. I’m unhinging my jaw now.
Mulder and Scully aren’t like their reputations. they get talked about like these big ideas—the Believer and the Skeptic—but they are so not dry or one-dimensional or anything else that you might be expecting. they’re the most human characters I’ve ever seen on screen. Scully is curious and earnest and so eager to succeed, but she throws away her definition of success to do the right thing (and because she’s a little rebel. I’m not spoiling anything beyond the first few minutes of the pilot to say that she’s assigned to Mulder to spy on him, but she likes and respects him too much to do it). Mulder is hardworking, kind, restless. so idealistic it looks selfish. he sees his lost sister in every victim. he has trouble sleeping, and I love that it’s not part of the plot. it’s just part of him. some procedurals don’t like to go home with the characters at the end of the day. The X-Files feels like it’s always going home with Mulder and Scully, even when they’re on the road.
every good thing about the show goes through them. that’s the whole point of the story: you think the truth is “out there,” but it isn’t—it’s in other people. and that might sound sentimental or obvious, but The X-Files makes you feel how heavy it is to love and be loved. a lot of Mulder and Scully’s connection is unspoken. and yes, sometimes that gives them communication issues, which I personally think is very sexy and interesting of them, but it’s also so powerful. here are these two people whose job forces them to question everything about the world, but they don’t question each other.
I know I’m getting very Always Sunny conspiracy board about this, but nothing else feels like The X-Files. it’s a mood at the highest level. the whole philosophy behind the show is that knowing there’s a monster in the shadows is scarier and more interesting than seeing that monster. the most powerful things are the ones that can’t really be understood or explained. it’s the same with Mulder and Scully. Chris Carter, the creator, fought so hard against making them romantic, but the joke is on him for a lot of reasons, like (1) he cast David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who have more chemistry than anyone else on this sad little planet and who like kissing for fun, (2) nothing is more romantic than an intellectual partnership between equals based on trust and mutual respect, and (3) the more he refused to define their relationship with words, the more powerful he inadvertently made it, because, again, the most important things are too big for words. it’s like the show respects Mulder and Scully’s connection too much to try to explain it.
The X-Files made me realize how sick I am of bickering on TV. a lot of shows want us to think that love looks like a little boy pulling a girl’s hair on the playground. but Mulder and Scully have a friendship between adults. they like each other. I know I literally just went on about how their relationship is so powerful it transcends the bounds of fiction etc., but it’s not stuffy. there’s a fun little kernel of madness and codependence at the center of their relationship, which I love because I love watching women in fiction pick their own poison. and Scully’s is Mulder. they’re a little bit mutually destructive with each other, but they’re even more self-destructive on their own. it’s compelling.
shifting to a different corner of my conspiracy board. Mulder and Scully are as great as they are because The X-Files understands exactly where they fit in the world of the show and what brings them together: their shared integrity in the face of the FBI’s manipulation. The X-Files is really about the abuses committed by the government; the villains are men in suits who would do anything to hold on to the power they feel slipping away. this show can go hard when it wants to. I can’t and don’t want to absolve it for being written and directed almost exclusively by white men, which comes through in all kinds of toxic ways. but as far as cop shows go its perspective on the world holds up impressively well—better than shows that are on right now. I can think of a hundred ways The X-Files could have been a better version of itself, but every other show still wants what it has.
even when The X-Files is bad it’s good. sometimes the frustrating things about it only make it more interesting. it’s a show that draws you in; it makes you part of the process of interpreting what’s happening and assigning meaning to it. there wasn’t a writers’ room for the writers to communicate with each other (a concept), which means the story can sometimes feel fragmented, but that also gave the show the capacity to look at Mulder and Scully through a lot of different lenses, which ultimately only makes them more vibrant. they can fit into a comedy or a tragedy or a thriller. they can be unbearably sentimental one week (or one scene) and unbearably withholding the next. but that’s real. people are inconsistent. it also makes it possible for the monster-of-the-week episodes to keep getting better and more inventive even as the mythology starts to fall apart. the great standalone episodes are like short stories, and even the worst ones have Mulder and Scully.
I don’t find The X-Files scary in a jump-scare kind of way; it’s cozy, and it’s got a powerful sense of wonder at the the world. but it does get at the creeping horror of realizing the world doesn’t make sense. what makes the story hopeful is that Mulder and Scully keep trying to make sense of it anyway. they tear down everything they thought they knew because the comfort of a lie is less important than the truth. I just love that the little grey men and the UFOs and the tractor beams all look exactly like you’d expect them to, but belief still isn’t easy. it’s not a show about what exactly real-ass aliens might look like. it’s about how the truth can be really simple and really hard to accept at the same time.

Story #7 "David Duchovny"
Tumblr media
What can you do in three minutes? In three minutes, you can boil water for tea or eat a banana. You can make a phone call, brush your teeth, or take an extremely quick shower. If you are on the subway, you can hop on the train and travel to the next not-so-far station. Three minutes seem to be just enough. Three minutes might take forever if you’re waiting for an answer from a girl you finally summoned up the courage to ask out. If you’re a defendant in a court waiting for the jury to reach a verdict, three minutes might drag on agonizingly slow. One hundred and eighty seconds of tickling as if a bomb is about to set off. All-in-your-head ticking.
However, if you talk to someone like David Duchovny, a person you were dreaming of having a conversation with, three minutes pass in the blink of an eye. Literally. You blink and then it’s over. David says that they are counting on us, and it is nice to see you again and then he’s gone. You are left with a mixture of euphoria and disappointment but unable to process it at the moment. It’s four in the morning and though you are so tired you cannot see straight, sleep is elusive. Your emotions are too raw to let go and grab so well-needed rest. So instead, you do some writing, keeping in mind what David has just told you - it’s all about discipline. And you write till letters start jumping on the screen and everything gets blurry. And then you brew some more coffee. A real thing. Not that decaffeinated crap you bought on a whim convincing yourself that this is what mindful people do. For they say it’s healthy. Sure. Fine. Whatever.
I got over my Duchovny crush in my early twenties, too busy to lust after anyone but my first-time-ever long-term boyfriend and struggling to major in English and Law simultaneously. Once my puberty was complete, I forgot about “The X-Files”. I didn’t think about David until I turned 33, which was 2018, the year when we moved to Moscow. It was a period of boring days dragging one after another in nothing but taking round-the-clock care of kids. Being acutely aware of my routine existence and suffering from the lack of babysitters, work-related stuff, and English altogether, I tried to fill an expanding void with books and series. I could read up to hundreds of pages a day and binge-watch Netflix every single minute whenever I had free time. It was my sea of tranquillity, and I was literally drowning in it.
I started watching Californication, the series I’d been deliberately neglecting for a little over 10 years (first released in 2007), due to my reluctance to shape Duchovny as anyone else but Fox Mulder. One more year later, I stumbled upon the news, that two more seasons of the X-files had been shot. You are so out of the loop, girl, exactly my thoughts. What are you? Some freak, living off the grid? How could you miss it? For what it’s worth, I loved it.
One day, almost accidentally, driving along the city center, I caught a glimpse of the billboard with his name and the word concert next to it. A concert? What the hell, the guy is an actor! Well, also a novelist now, but what does it have to do with music? Upon my arrival at home, I googled him thoroughly only to be struck by the fact that David indeed was a singer and it wasn’t even his first album. The same day I bought a ticket, including the meet-and-greet session pass, downloaded some of his previous tracks, and just like that, my affection was resurrected.
That first meeting we didn’t really talk. I remember my shy “May I hug you?” and his encouraging coarse “Yeah”. I remember warm strong arms around my shoulders. We took a photo, he sighed whatever it is I had on me to sign. It happened to be a tiny red notebook as nothing else seemed to fit in my lady’s purse. And then, there was an hour of pure bliss as the concert began. He may or may not be a good singer. If truth be told, it’s probably the latter. But he’s full of the heady dark intensity that shakes you to the core and makes the overall experience simply unforgettable. I could only hope that it wouldn’t be the last first time.
But then. Pandemic. It brought several good tidings, albeit being a catastrophe of the world. Virtual interaction is still booming. Back in the day, you either hoped that the flame of your heart would honor your country with a visit, or traveled over the ocean for the slightest chance to get a glimpse of them. Now all you need is broadband and a cell. Well, and some extra bucks on you. Virtual meet and greets, zooming, 1-on-1 calls, livestreams. You can get up to 10 minutes with the celebrity of your choice. At times, you can enter raffles they organize to raise money for charity, and then it’s a chance to win up to half an hour of a private talk. How cool is that?
So, the question posed, is it expensive? You bet. Is it worth it? Every second of it. Will I see him again? Well, I might. But then again, I might not. After all, I’ve already seen him three times. And two out of three I had a chance to talk with him. However, since we’ve already established that it was worth doing, I could only add that anything that is worth doing is worth doing well.

Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with Piper Sargasso
Piper Sargasso has 25 stories at Gossamer, but don’t miss her website where the fics each have cover collage art. If you are a fan of Mulder/Scully romance, there are a lot of MSR fics to read that are set in different seasons of the show. But like the show that never stuck to one type of story, Piper’s stories have variety, so you can also find AUs and /Other.  Big thanks to Piper for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
It does, but I love that people are still into it! Writers back in the day put so much work and love into their writing, and it's nice to know that the stories are still being appreciated to this day. As for my own stories, it puts a huge smile on my face to know there are still people out there checking them out and hopefully enjoying them.
What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience? What did you take away from it?
It was such a positive period of my life. I made some amazing friends who became something like older sisters (and some brothers) to me, even though I was a little ridiculous when I was in my early to mid-twenties. It was also a much-needed confidence booster. I was a pretty shy person and loved writing, but never had the nerve to show anything to anyone. My first fanfic was completely horrible, but because of it I made my first XF friend and super beta, Mimic117. Between her guidance and the encouraging words from my Yahoo group I was able to do something I really loved and felt great about myself and my abilities for the first time. That will stay with me forever. That first story was truly atrocious, but it was a catalyst for great things in my life when I needed them the most.
Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
I remember trying this cool new thing called an AOL chat room, but they were more interested in perving on each other than talking about the show. Once I knew about fanfiction I kept seeing that some of my favorite authors kept mentioning IWTBXF in their notes, a Yahoo group named I Want to Believe. I looked it up, joined, and with great trepidation made my introductory post. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and talking to my favorite authors in the group was a little like meeting a celebrity and finding out that they're awesome in real life. After IWTBXF fell apart, an off-shoot called Beyond the Sea was created with almost all of the original group transferring over. I stuck to my little family there and didn't branch out into much else, other than the rare dip into Haven. Ephemeral and Gossamer, of course.
What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
Mostly the overwhelming feeling of acceptance and confidence to write, something I was sorely lacking before in my life. I fell in with the best group, that's for sure! They made me feel like being a professional writer could be an achievable goal.
What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
The commercial advertising. The pilot spoke to my supernatural-loving, angsty 15 year-old soul. I watched it religiously every week. There was nothing like it. It was off-beat, but serious (most of the time) and fulfilled my insatiable craving for the paranormal and weird. You just couldn't get that from Melrose Place and Beavis and Butthead, you know? It definitely helped that David Duchovny was adorable and the character of Scully was the strong and intelligent icon we needed in the 90's and beyond.
What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?
In high school I had a friend who was as obsessed with the show as I was. Maybe more, since she once had a slumber party that was exclusively to binge watch her taped episodes (the other girls who wanted to mess around with spells and the Ouija board weren't thrilled that she couldn't be swayed away from it) and she often drove me from play rehearsals in her convertible with the top down and the theme song blasting to the heavens, much to my delight and mortification. A couple years after we graduated she told me about the piece of fanfic she wrote. Insert a record screech here. What?! You mean there are thousands of stories dedicated to my favorite show? And hundreds more get added every month?! I was obsessed. If I could've stopped working and slept at my computer desk I would have.
What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?
Sadly it's nonexistent these days. I have great memories and it holds a big piece of my heart, but I haven't been active in a long time. I would love to see a huge revival, and would definitely want to be involved in that in some way, were it to happen.
Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
I read a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction for a while, but I never could expend the kind of energy and time I did for the X-Files fandom. It came at a perfect time in my life, and so far nothing else has measured up to it.
Who are some of your favorite fictional characters? Why?
Besides XF characters? Off the top of my head I really love Hermione Granger, Buffy Summers, Elizabeth Bennet, and Claire Fraser for their sass and strength of character, Severus Snape for his complexity, and Christina Ricci's version of Wednesday Addams for her pure awesomeness. She's pretty much my spirit animal.
Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?
I do occasionally. I watched the series from season 1-7 so many times that I started to burn out, but I get on my X-Files kicks sometimes and binge it again.
Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom?
Like with the show, I'll get nostalgic and need to consume all the fanfics my greedy little eyes can behold until I move on to something else. It can feel a little lonely though, if you'll excuse the drama. We're not in the heyday anymore, so it feels a little like walking through a ghost town. Many of the stories out there are suspended in time because the show ended, or people stopped writing.
Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors?
I know I have dozens, but I'm drawing a blank. My ultimate favorite is any well-written MSR casefile with UST finally resulting in RST. Those are my unicorns!
What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
I have a silly one called Baby, It's Cold Outside that I sometimes read around Christmastime. It was a fluffy song-fic, but I can see the scene so clearly in my mind when I read it and it's just pure fun. I also like my Donnie Pfaster series. I can see the potential in my writing with those, which makes me feel I could really write something special someday. Plus, he's such an interesting little slimeball to write and read about. Bless his heart.
Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
I still think about the two WIPs I haven't finished. I wrote myself into a corner with This Mortal Coil, and honestly I think it needs a total overhaul. I think Dana Scully's Diary would be a fun one to finish. I hate that I never finished them.
Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?
I think about writing fanfic now and then and I've had a couple original novels sketched out, but there are so many other demands on my time that I haven't gotten very far. I still plan to see the novels through, even if no one but interested friends and family read them.
Where do you get ideas for stories?
I used to watch an episode and really study the actors' expressions and actions, always trying to find new angles to the stories we all know. A lot of times things would just come to me and I'd get so excited I couldn't sleep until I wrote a good chunk of it down.
What's the story behind your pen name?
The friend who introduced me to fanfic told me the best way to choose a pen name was to make sure it derives from the show. For a couple days I looked at the titles and summaries of episodes and agonized over just the right name. Finally Piper Maru and the summary from Triangle, which mentions the Sargasso sea, stood out and just clicked.
Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?
My now husband always knew, and he thought it was cool that I had a hobby that made me so happy, but he was never a reader. My parents found out when I was about 24 and my step-dad would tell EVERYONE about it, much to my horror. Most reactions were of the bland, "Oh yeah? That's nice." variety but I definitely got some weird looks from others. The worst was when I found out how much of my racier MSR stories my parents read. My step-dad thought it was hilarious and teased me a little. My usually open-minded mom was uncomfortable, but tried to be supportive. It's all fun and games until your daughter starts writing psuedo-erotica for anyone to see!
Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
Circe Invidiosa very generously hosts a page for me at http://pipers.invidiosa.com.

Review being a babyphile
Lololol will do! To fully set where my opinion’s coming from - I’m 22 (Born the day ‘El Mundo Gira’ aired) and I’ve been aware of The X-Files all my life, many people in my family enjoy it, and I always knew I would love it. I started watching in late 2016, took my sweet ass time, and then got into it HARD in late 2017 and binged it near the end so I could watch Season 11 live as it aired (but I didn’t make my fandom Twitter or Tumblr until after the show ended, I only fangirled through fanfiction authors notes and comments).
Also, during this, my personal definition of ‘babyphile’ is someone who started the show AFTER the original series ended (probably after IWTB too). Esentially someone who got to enjoy TXF in the new digital world rather than using the platforms that the OG philes utilized. So age isn’t really a factor, just by default all young people have to be babyphiles but at the same time not all babyphiles are ‘young’.
PROS:
- Aside from watching season 11 live, I always had the comfort of being like “hahaha it’ll be fine, there are x amount of seasons left, they can’t die here.”
- Honestly I could write a novel length list about different instances where the previous point eased my worry. I had to fear “omg are they going to be okay” JUST for ten episodes and it was honestly like all I could worry about until the next episode came out.
- Much like my generation, I was able to have a sense of immediate gratification with a lot of things. I tried to avoid spoliers (see more about this later in the con section) but if I so wanted to, I could google “Do Mulder and Scully kiss” and I would get the answer.
- I can interact with fans much easier than people from back in the day could (I’m being presumptious here being I never experienced anything other than my own perspective). But Twitter and Tumblr make it SO easy to get into contact with fans from all around the world and fangirl.
- I have 30+ years of fanfic, on multiple platforms, at my disposal. I saw a meme going around about someone being sad after “watching their show and going through all the fan content available already” and I could not relate. I will NEVER be able to read/watch/listen to all the fan content out there. It is impossible. Being a babyphile, I can easily find fics about any episode or scenario I want.
- During my time as a fan, easy catagorization of fic has always been available, as I’ve always had access to ao3 and liminalfic.org
- Thousands of photoshoots and interviews. I’m finding new stuff daily. Again, I’ll never catch up.
CONS:
- Without a doubt in my mind, my least favorite thing (this probably has more to do with the times we live in rather than the fact I’m a babyphile) is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to avoid spoilers. It’s impossible to be involved in the fandom while enjoying it for the first time and NOT have shit spoiled. I can say without a doubt that the fact Scully gets cancer, that they have William, that William is given up for adoption, that Mulder is abducted, that they kiss when the ball drops, and a countless amount of other plot points were spoiled for me and I will never get the experience of being able to view it with the same impactful shock that someone without acess to that would.
- I will never have the experience of being able to watch the whole show live and that makes me sad, despite the few perks that come along with it.
- The X Files fandom was so revolutionary in setting how fandoms could use the internet to gather and communicate and it would have been amazing to be a part of that. No matter how much I use gossamer/the old google forms pages/old discussion boards, I will never be able to have really been a part of it. The difference between appreciating history vs being an active part of it.
- Kind of along with the last point, sometimes because babyphiles weren’t around back in the day, our opinions are sometimes invalidated or seen as less important than that of OG philes. (Is that the term? OG Phile?)
- I wish I could have enjoyed more of the amazing things XFNews did in their time. I have an admiration crush on them. Hard.
- I didn’t get to experience the X-Files at it’s heyday. Did I already mention that? Yeah. It could literally be on this list 5000 times. I can’t even fathom being alove when my fave show is world renouned. If I talk to my peers about the show, all I get 99% of the time is “Oh, I’ve heard of it.” or “Isn’t that the show with the illuminati song as the theme?” I’m not kidding. So many people my age don’t realize the cultural importance of The X Files and I just sound like a fanatic trying to explain.
- I stumbled across an article hyping up season 11 or something that was titled something along the lines of “Will Mulder and Scully get back together after their apparent break up?” DO YOU KNOW HOW UPSETTING IT IS TO BE WATCHING THIS SHOW NON-STOP HOPING THEY GET TOGETHER AND BEFORE THEY FINALLY EVEN GET TOGETHER YOU LEARN THEY’LL JUST BREAK UP. WOWOW.
- Me: “This article I just found says they broke up!!!”
My mom: “It was probably when David Duchovny left the show in those later                         seasons or something.”
  Me: ..............” he does WHAT?!”
- As a babyphile, you have FOMO for expereiences that already happened.
-------------------------------------------
I know I’m missing points, but this is probably already longer than you’d wanted. Just a preface, I in no way am saying people are mean to me because I’m a babyphile. Not at all! I’m just probably projecting. And I am in NO WAY implying that people “ruined/spoiled” things for me - I did that myself by being impatient and nosy lololol.
Does anyone else have anything to add? Any opinions from fellow babyphiles or OG philes?? Everyone’s X Phile experience is so vastly different and rich and I think that’s one of the best parts of our fandom. :)
Just tagging others if you wanna add @admiralty-xfd @wholeperson @observeroftheuniverse @peacenik0 @kikocrystalball @kyouryokusenshi @fragilevixenfic @baronessblixen @viceversawrites @cryptidneet

thoughts on One Son (6x12)
Written by Chris Carter & Frank Spotnitz Directed by Rob Bowman
Tumblr media
Okay, that looks cool as fuck!!
Yeet yeet
There’s a lot of yelling and screaming going on
Tumblr media
They are sealed up
Quarantine time!
Hi Ms. Fowley
Tumblr media
I mean...I guess
But they’re...in quarantine...how did Diana just walk right in
Why is she talking so fast, slow down please!!
Tumblr media
Scully sees right through her…
“I think that woman is a…?”
Tumblr media
Scully has full right to be pissed and also to vouch for Cassandra...just validating her feelings cause I know no one else will
Those who they sacrificed could be returned to them??? Including, but not limited to, Samantha Mulder perhaps?
Tumblr media
Oh damn, this lady? I barely recognize her, and also definitely thought she was dead
The mythology storyline is just kinda...crazy?
Tumblr media
Scully out here digging up the dirt on Diana...iconic, truly
She visited every MUFON group in Europe, collecting data on female abductees? I don’t know about you, but that’s sketchy to me
Mulder’s like, ‘she’s reaching, your honor’ when, in fact, she’s not
Tumblr media
Damn bitch...it IS personal...and without that...she has no reason... to continue
Anyone else feeling a little bit of fear in these parts?
That’s one nice ass apartment building
Tumblr media
Uh bitch???? Where dafuq he get that???
Are we taking to the streets in protest or what
Hey dude (CSM)
“No more interesting than your apparent lingerie fetish” thanks for that CSM
Tumblr media
Mulder is snapping!! As he should!!
“You sent them away! Like things!”
David Duchovny maybe has some acting ability after all
Emily Sim...anyone missing her tonight?
Tumblr media
It feels weird to get so many answers...go back to being vague and making no sense please
They moved the Syndicate to West Virginia
Tumblr media
Cassandra does not deserve this
CSM did steal her past from her...like what the fuck
Why does he think he saved her? How CSM, how?
Tumblr media
Sir why the fuck
Fake bitch!!
El Rico Air Force Base
Tumblr media
Anyone else screaming bloody murder?????????
Chris Carter hates his audience, he really truly does
Tumblr media
Alien fetus, oh boy!
I just wanna say that...I do not like where this is going
So Scully’s going after Cassandra..will Mulder go with?
Tumblr media
He did,,,
Okay it’s lit
Y’all have some guts
So they went to stop the train but they did even actually?
Tumblr media
No they didn’t
Krycek is madddd
They’re getting the fuck out of there
Tumblr media
Ambush!!
Aww, bye Cassie
So M&S showed up afterward I guess?
Spender actually wants them back on the X-Files? For real?
Tumblr media
Oh...okay
Who’s he gonna frame for this
Remember when...Mulder and Ms. Fowley kissed like 20 minutes ago...crazy world we live in
Tumblr media
Consensus: Don’t know how to feel about this. It’s wild, that’s for sure.
4 out of 5 stars

TV Show Ask Game
Tumblr media
1. if you could reboot one TV show, which one would it be? Earth 2. But only if they could go back in time with the same cast at those ages. It was a brilliant concept that maybe just came ahead of its time.
3. have you ever quit a show before it finished? why? No. But I've wanted to. Once I start something I like to finish it.
5. what’s your comfort show? H20: Just Add Water. I seem to go back to it when I need something light and fun and that doesn't require a ton of thinking in order to enjoy it. I know it's an Australian teenage drama, but I absolutely adore it and the characters.
7. have you ever been inspired to start a new show based on gifs or memes it has produced? The Man From the High Castle and Westworld.
9. what’s one show you thought you’d hate but turned out to really enjoy? Family Guy. I usually don't care for shows with that kind of humor, but it has turned out to be a true gem and favorite of mine.
10. what’s one show you thought you’d love but turned out to really hate? Sons of Anarchy.
11. which TV show has the best musical soundtrack, in your opinion? Cold Case. And Supernatural.
12. have you ever watched a show just for a specific actor? did you enjoy it? I tried to watch Californication because of my love for David Duchovny. I didn't get past season one, and I haven't had the urge to continue it further.
13. what genre of TV show is your favourite? Science-Fiction.
14. do you tend to stick to one type of TV show (eg, short-form comedy), or are you into many different genres? I love a ton of different genres. I mean, sticking to one type is mega boring. And I'm not always in the mood for something funny or drama or sad or whatever. So I like to have options. Lots and lots of options.
15. do you feel like there are any overrated TV show formats? I'm not really sure what this means so I'm not going to comment.
16. do you feel like there are any underrated TV show formats? I'm not really sure what this means so I'm not going to comment.
17. have you ever written fanfiction for a TV show? I started with CSI and The X-Files a long time ago (2004) and still write it today. So yeah. I've written fanfiction for a television show that I love. Several of them in fact. Fifteen years and still going strong.
18. have you ever drawn fanart for a show? I cannot draw to save my life. So the closest thing I've ever drawn for a show was stick figures for The Walking Dead for another ask meme. LOL.
19. are there any shows on your “to watch” list right now? Oh my heck! There are a ton of shows and movies that are on my list to watch at a later date. I even go through it sometimes and delete things that I've added in the past that I know I will never get around to watching. It drives my husband mad to see all the crap in there that never gets watched.
20. Netflix, Hulu, or Prime originals? I happen to like some of all of them, but my favorites just so happen to be Hulu ones. The Handmaid's Tale and Hollie Hobby!
21. if you could be a guest star on any show, which one would it be? The X-Files but that won't ever happen because I'm pretty sure that the show is likely done this time around. I hope anyway. LOL.
22. if you could write your own TV show, what would it be like? A complete disaster. It would be a feel-good show with characters that care more about others around them than anything else. So yeah! A complete disaster. I'll leave the writing to the professionals and stick to writing fanfiction because it's so much easier.
23. are you a fan of will-they-won’t-they plots? Yes, I am. Some of the best ships have come from just that scenario.
24. how do you feel about bottle episodes? I have a love/hate relationship with them. When I haven't seen a character or a couple of characters for a bit, they are fun to play catch up with them, but then I would rather every episode have a little of everyone than focus on one group or character solely.
25. do you prefer proper opening credits, or a simple title card? A simple title card is all that I need because I'm ready to watch the show. I know who stars in it. I don't need to see it every time.
26. favourite TV show theme song? Pretty Little Liars.
27. which actor do you think deserves an Emmy for their work on TV? Melissa McBride and Andrew Lincoln from The Walking Dead.
28. who would be your dream cameo on your favourite show? Kathryn Erbe in the Zombie Apocolypse would be an absolute dream come true! I'd love to see her play in a scene opposite Melissa McBride's Carol.
29. do you tend to quote TV shows a lot? have you ever started using a word/phrase because of a TV show? No, I don't usually quote anything from a TV show unless I'm talking to a fellow fan and we're discussing the show. And I can't think of a time that I've ever taken a phrase from a show/movie and used it in real life. OHHH! Yes, I have! There is a contestant on Survivor that says, "Oh my heck!" and I love that phrase now. LOL.
31. do you use subtitles while watching TV if you can? I will rewind a scene and turn them on if I'm confused about something that is being said, or I'm making a comic strip/photo or gif set where I need the exact quote.
32. what’s one show you could watch over and over? Earth 2, H20: Just Add Water, Mako Mermaids, etc. I could go on and on with some of my favorite feel-good shows.
33. would you be interested in trying a show in another language? I've tried to watch a new series on Netflix, but it just really takes me out of it when I have to read the words. I can't focus on the actions and scenery if I'm constantly having to read the dialogue.
34. what are your top 5 shows right now? The Walking Dead, Law & Order: SVU, Heartland, The Rookie, and 9-1-1.
35. who are your top 5 TV characters right now? Carol Peletier, Lt. Olivia Benson, Athena Grant, Howard 'Chimney' Han, Rookie Officer John Nolan
36. what TV character would you die for? Carol Peletier. But not really.
37. which TV show setting would you most like to visit? The Walking Dead.
38. do you prefer hour long episodes, or 30 minute? It really depends on the material. Sometimes thirty minutes is long enough to tell a complete story, but sometimes, you really need that full hour.
39. do you prefer 22 episode seasons, or 13? It really depends on the show and the story being told.
40. is there a show coming out soon that you’re really excited about? The sixth season of The 100. There is nothing new coming out that I'm that interested in.
41. if you could change 1 detail about any show, what would you change and why? I would change the way in which season four of The Walking Dead was executed so that it made better sense. I wouldn’t necessarily change the main plot points, but I would change how the story was told and would elaborate on whatever needed to be elaborated on so that it made more sense narratively speaking. I believe that certain things had to happen to get the payoff down the road, but the way in which it was written and executed was entirely bogus. Scott Gimple did not trust his audience at all.
42. what’s the longest amount of time you’ve ever watched a show in one sitting? Five plus hours when binge watching ER with my Mom on the weekends.
43. what do you think is a good amount of seasons for a TV show? Six or Seven. But that depends on the show and material for the show. Some shows really can't be wrapped up in that time frame, but some that really should end on a good note. Justified is a wonderful show, but those in charge knew that it was time to let it go. But Supernatural doesn't seem to know that it should end already. The first five or six seasons were brilliant, but it got a little (or a lot) stupid after that.
44. if you could replace any actor on TV in playing their role, who would you like to play and why? I wouldn't want to replace anyone because I absolutely love and adore the people chosen to play their specific roles. I wouldn't want to mess with the chemistry of the cast for even one minute.
45. do you own any TV shows on DVD? I own several shows on DVD. Too many to list.
46. do you prefer to watch TV alone or with friends? Alone because if you watch with friends there is too much talking going on.
47. are there any shows you love but your friends aren’t interested in? Like almost everything. LOL. My tastes and theirs do not usually mesh. It's rare that we have overlapping interest in a show.
48. are there any shows your friends love but you aren’t interested in? Yes. Just about as many of my shows as their shows, honestly.
49. who are your favourite couples on TV? Well, most of them are really canon ships, but there is Carol & Daryl from The Walking Dead, Olivia Benson and Rafael Barba from SVU, Regina Mills and Robin of Locksley from Once Upon a Time, Mulder and Scully from The X-Files. There are several more, but I think those are plenty to list right now. I have an otps page if you'd like to see the ones that I love the most. Oh! Han & Leia from Star Wars.

I’m not even exaggerating when I say Mulder is undervalued as a character.
However you view David’s skill as an actor, he took a character who should not work and made Mulder someone viewers loved and cared for. We were like Scully, Mulder sounded not grounded to us at first, and then we get to meet him and entertain his ideas. We want to see if they’re true or not and how true.
Mulder is so caring and sympathetic to victims, monsters, and those who were framed as both. He’s the first to sympathize with a victim and the first to see humanity in a monster.
This man spent a chunk of his life looking for his sister who was abducted in front of his eyes. He has so much trauma and ptsd that he has low self worth, but god, does he fight on the behalf of others like hell.
People overlook all the fucking good Mulder does to call him a jerk because he isn’t worshipping the ground Scully walks on 24/7. Mulder isn’t allowed to be flawed or human. Moments that I can’t deny that Mulder was a jerk: queequeg’s death, beginning of never again, the Diana situation, and maybe a few others.
Mulder was the same guy who almost saved Scully when she was abducted, the same guy who literally almost quit his job before skinner tore up his resignation paper, he heavily considered dying for Scully as well as taking his own life, he was angry at Maggie and Melissa for giving up on Scully so fast. This all happens in a little over a year of knowing Scully.
Then when Scully comes back, Mulder looked out for her well-being and wasn’t trying to force her to work. He wouldn’t have even blamed her for transferring. Later on in the same season, he literally traded someone who he believed was his long lost sister FOR Scully.
Mulder also has tender moments with Scully that aren’t cancer arc related or a major life event.
Yet, his bad moments with Scully are the ones that define him. Yet, people find time to over exaggerate shit and take it out of context all while ignoring Scully’s shit bc she’s “long suffering.”
Like, Christ, I’m tired of reading this shit every few months bc someone has a major Scully slant and thinks Mulder exists just to please Scully.
He’s his own fucking person:
And let’s not forget: MULDER LITERALLY TREATS SCULLY BETTER THAN ANY ONE ELSE PROFESSIONALLY, GENERALLY SPEAKING, AND SINCERELY THOUGHT SHE COULD’VE RISEN UP IN THE RANKS AT THE FBI.
There is no bigger fan of Scully than Mulder and he’d be the first to tell anyone she deserved a better career than being stuck in the basement.
People love to talk about how hot, goofy, and in love with Scully Mulder is, but he’s a pretty great fucking person on his own merit.
Just like Scully gave up a career, Mulder did too. Mulder had so much professional capital he probably could’ve been an AD at a younger age then skinner. He probably could’ve been a director. People truly forget just how smart, how charming, and how good at his job Mulder could be when it came to the political stuff. It’s not that Mulder can’t do it, he refused to. His superiors are angry at him being in the basement because of how god damn talented he was. In case anyone forgot: Scully was assigned to debunk Mulder’s work to get him back into the mainstream at the FBI. You don’t do that for an average ass worker.
And Mulder didn’t just throw away his careers to chase monsters, he cared about the victims. If not him (before Scully), then who? No one cared or took them seriously. And Mulder had to find cases, prove their merits to be investigated on the FBI dime, and then fight for them throughout the case and after. Mulder was constantly advocating for others.
And he’s written off by some for being a jerk at times??? I need people to please review Mulder’s backstory, and then take a closer look at the fucked up shit that happened during the show and honestly say that most of Mulder’s behavior isn’t understandable. His critics be saying like his behavior is unfounded or always on 10. Like, no, y’all only focus on the uncommon shit, and then make it something it isn’t.
Some may think I’m full of shit, exaggerating, or I have a point, but not a strong one, consider this: why is Mulder constantly criticized and called a jerk by some because he wasn’t super supportive during Scully’s pregnancy as if he wasn’t literally abducted and buried alive for months? As if Mulder hadn’t just gone than an indescribably traumatic ordeal and doesn’t know how to process it. Sure, Mulder was a jerk, but wouldn’t you say that the reason why is fucking important? It’s not right that how he behaved at times, but how would anyone of us deal with such a situation?
People going through personality changes over less dire situations, but Mulder can’t be a little jerkish just because Scully’s pregnant???
Okay. 😒

I love how people always talk about how Harry made good choices unlike Snape despite his abuse.
As some Snape fans like to quote Mia from “Little Fires Everywhere”, Harry didn’t make good choices, he was given good choices.
This may sound weird to say because of his background, but let’s think about this.
Snape came from a background of poverty, which stayed with him even at Hogwarts. We see examples of his bullying referencing his dingy clothes. Making him feel further shame for something he couldn’t control.
Comparatively, Harry came into a shit ton of money when he turned 11. He could afford to buy new things and not rely on secondhand things, which people would tease him for. Also, even though the weasleys were poor, I think Snape was poorer than that.
How often have we’ve seen teachers come to the aid of Harry, where as we’ve never seen any teacher come to the aid of Snape despite him being flat out bullied. Snape couldn’t rely on even the teachers to protect him. How often did Harry run to a teacher when something was wrong because HE KNEW they’d have his back. Hell, he even went to Snape for this reason when it came to sirius.
Friends. Harry’ s friends had his back no matter what. He could make mistakes and be forgiven for them. He could be mean and use dark magic, which he did, and not framed as a bad person and unworthy of being redeemed/forgiven. Where as every mistake Snape made was held against him (I’m referring to before the mudblood incident) and used as further evidence as to how Snape is bad and evil.
People might try to say how “it’s different” why Harry behaved the way he did and did what he did, but is it really?
Snape was constantly bullied with no one to turn to and almost killed because he was poor, moody, and existed. How does that not put anyone on edge? Both he and Harry faced different stressors that put them on edge.
However, Snape never blindly used dark magic and almost accidentally killed someone. In school, the worst thing Snape ever did was call lily a mudblood. But how dare he create spells to protect himself when four students attack him. Whether or not remus and Peter jumped in, how was Snape supposed to know they weren’t. How was Snape supposed to feel as they sat by and laughed, one of them being a prefect?
Snape had no one. And for people who want to say he had lily, even she barely defended him. Do you think Hermione would’ve bargained with draco if he had Harry hanging in the air? No, she would’ve immediately cast a spell. She wouldn’t have ever let it get that far without acting and people think lily bargaining with James is sufficient and don’t understand why half assed defense is lacking.
There are so many examples that can be given about how Harry was given better choices, Snape had to play the hand he was dealt, and then crucified for not making better choices. No wonder he was bitter when all was said and done.

Nate clearly has self loathing issues and both an oversized ego and an inferiority complex. He made Ted a stand in father figure because he confused support and genuine care for special attention.
He’s projecting his issues with his father onto Ted because he cannot address his father himself.
I’m not sure if I’ll say he’s paranoid, but it’s interesting he assumed the play would fail—not due to sabotage—and that Ted would lay the blame on him. He’s made up issues to be mad at Ted about and that are completely unfounded.
He resents that people love Ted even during difficult times. How they have so much faith in him and would follow him.
Like this respect that literally everyone has for Ted, the players, the owner, the coaches including the great Roy Kent. To see that Ted can change people for the better and that they’re receptive to it.
And maybe Nate is upset because he realizes that Ted wasn’t giving him special attention, but just being himself. The first time he felt important, it was really Ted treating him like anyone else.
It’s fascinating that Nate rants about being ignored and abandoned all while knowing that Ted was having mental health issues. Keep in mind, this was where Nate lost respect for ted—after ted revealed he had a panic attack.
I’m interested in how Nate will redeem himself, but he truly has to take a hard look at himself and not rely on his troubled relationship with his dad and being bullied to excuse his behavior. That explains some how of how he behaved, but leaking Ted’s mental health issue, kissing Keeley, his tantrum before, during, and after the game, him abusing his power as a coach, etc—he needs to own up to all of that, be accountable, and apologize.
Akin to Jamie’s apology, but much more in-depth and fleshed out. Because at this point, even before then, Nate has done far more that he has to atone for.
Despite all that happened in this last ep, I don’t hate Nate, but I’m also not rushing to defend him. Nate has to actually show self awareness first and make the active steps to make better what he tried to destroy before I even consider defending him.

What Trent did is remarkable because he did not have to do that. And look at the character arc of this minor character. From calling Ted a fucking joke to extending him a courtesy about the bomb he has to drop. Because he fucking respects Ted.

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #226 - Zoolander
Tumblr media
Spoilers Below
Have I seen it before: Yes
Did I like it then: Yes.
Do I remember it: Yes.
Did I see it in theaters: No.
Format: DVD
1) This film’s opening sequence is actually very interesting. We get an early feel for the film’s sense of humor as well as the surprisingly tense intrigue which gives the movie its edge.
Tumblr media
2) Fuck, there’s a Donald Trump cameo in this movie. Fuck that guy.
Tumblr media
3) Ben Stiller as Derek Zoolander.
Tumblr media
This is one of Stiller’s more unique performances, as it doesn’t rely on as much of a dry sense of humor like many of his other movies do. The idiocy of Zoolander allows for Stiller for some more room to play around. It is a trick to make Zoolander stupid but still likable, someone the audience sympathizes with and roots for. There is a risk of wanting him to fail because he’s so vain, but Stiller is able to get the heart of the character across. Yes, he’s stupid and vain, but you never get the sense that he’s being malicious. It’s this performance which is a key reason Zoolander has become the cult classic it is today.
4) Owen Wilson as Hansel.
Tumblr media
A little less outlandish than Stiller’s Zoolander, Wilson still is able to define Hansel with a number of quick/off the cusp lines. His chemistry with Stiller is a standout part of the movie as he is mostly an enigma/enemy for most of the film before becoming an ally by the time the credits roll. His idiocy is on par with Zoolander’s and Wilson is still able to play the character as sympathetic, but he’s cut from a different cloth. He’s a different kind of idiot than Derek. The one thing I don’t get is, why is Hansel the rookie? Aren’t Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson the same age?
5) The tone of this film is unique for a broad comedy. The story is surprisingly dark (?), largely about Derek’s downfall and the risk he has of being a murderer. In most of the film, every scene just makes things worse and worse for Derek. His three best friends die an explosion, he’s largely mocked/humiliated/manipulated, he’s dealing with an existential crisis about who he is, and he’s rejected by his family. All of this gives the movie a unique edge, a defining flavor which has helped it be so endearing for so long.
6) Oh look, Jerry Stiller’s character just sexually harassed a woman by pinching her butt without consent. And it’s played off as a joke. Ah, 2001.
Tumblr media
7) Will Ferrell as Mugatu.
Tumblr media
One of the best scene stealers in a film FILLED with scene stealing performances, Ferrell (who is funny in pretty much all the movies he’s in) plays Mugatu with such bizarreness and occasional mania it’s hard not to find the performance funny. He’s the bad guy, a total weirdo with some serious self worth issues he’s covering for, and Ferrell just has so much fun in the part (meaning the audience has fun watching him).
8)
Maury [played by Jerry Stiller] (after Matilda asks for his opinion on Mugatu): “You want an opinion? With a good push up bra you could actually have a nice rack.”
Was this ever funny and not just painfully sexist?
9) Milla Jovovich doesn’t get enough credit for this film as Katinka.
Tumblr media
Her role may be smaller than say Will Ferrell’s, but she owns it completely. Every moment she’s on screen is hysterical and defined by her bravado. I didn’t even realize it WAS Milla Jovovich the first time I watched this movie, she’s that good.
10) Derek’s hypnotism scene (and following karate scene) is wonderfully bizarre and represents the film’s sense of humor well. It’s all so strange and outlandish, unlike most other broad comedies of the time, it’s hard not to be memorable.
youtube
11) Christine Taylor as Matilda.
Tumblr media
Taylor is largely the straight woman in the film but plays against Stiller well. She’s not the worst written female protagonist in an early 2000’s broad comedy I’ve seen, but she could be better. The character is made interesting more by Taylor’s performance - which imbues her with a sense of humanity, realism, and passion - than the writing, which has her more as a plot device than anything else. But, like I said, could be worse.
12) Ah! Winona Ryder is in this movie! I forgot about that.
Tumblr media
13) The pre-walk-off encounter.
youtube
This scene is supported almost exclusively by the chemistry between Wilson and Stiller. Wilson in particular takes command of the scene, stealing it even from Zoolander with great lines like, “Don’t you know I’m loco?” It’s a lot of fun.
14) DAVID FREAKING BOWIE!
Tumblr media
15) The Walk-Off
youtube
Quite possibly the most fun scene in the entire film, it is once again made by Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson just letting loose on screen. It just keeps building, the ridiculous of it all, supported by strong editing and fitting music, before reaching its inevitable and hysterical climax.
16) This film features a wonderfully weird character detail of Derek not being able to turn left. I can’t even imagine how anyone even thought that up but it just helps to define the movie.
17)
JP Prewitt: “The fashion industry has been behind every major political assassination over the last two hundred years.”
That’s it. That’s the plot of this movie. That’s the concept. And how totally freaking random and wonderfully weird it is. That idea on its own is hysterical.
18) David Duchovny’s role as JP Prewitt in this film is brief but a strong one. Definitely calling back to his role as the conspiracy obsessed Mulder on “The X-Files”, he helps support the film’s unique mystery driven tone.
Tumblr media
19) According to IMDb:
Derek's repetition of the line "But why male models?" for the second time, in the cemetery scene, was an ad-lib by the actors; Ben Stiller forgot his line and simply repeated the earlier line again, and David Duchovny ran with it and gave him a straight answer.
20)
Matilda: “That shemale Katinka is not messing around.”
Ugh, I do not mis the early 2000s transphobic humor.
21) The heart to heart between Hansel and Derek is surprisingly poignant and sweet. They’re able to communicate honestly about their insecurities and move past it to be friends. I wish more of my gender was like that.
22) Matilda’s backstory is a double edged sword. On the one hand, her feeling about unattainable standards of beauty are incredibly realistic and great to feature on film. On the other, Derek and Hansel make jokes about her being bulimic (even if they apologize for it later). So, take that as you will.
23) Did we REALLY need an orgy scene?
Tumblr media
24) The breakdance fight between Hansel and the DJ is pretty funny, specifically in the constant changes in music it yields.
25) Sometimes, I’m Mugatu.
Tumblr media
26) And Derek stops a throwing star with a look. That’s how this film ends. Because why not?
Tumblr media
27) The ending at Derek’s school is surprisingly sweet. It feels earned, sincere, and sympathetic. He’s worked past the BS of his life to actually help people (or at least, what this film presents as helping people). Hooray!
Zoolander is not for everyone. But if you’re a fan of kinda dumb comedies then you’ll dig it. It’s very funny, supported by Stiller’s performance as well as those he surrounds himself with (Ferrell, Wilson, Taylor, Jovovich). It’s a good movie to relax to and just enjoy. So maybe give it a shot.

I don’t think I’ve ever been able to pay attention throughout this episode, so I know the basic premise, but not the details.  That’s probably irrelevant because I plan to completely ignore it all in favour of a stupid story to fit the screen caps I have anyway.
***
Mulder's spooky reputation has preceded him, so he proudly wears his Spooky Swirl tie to New York.  Whenever he wears this tie he has the compulsion to ask people if they think he’s spooky. Scully’s pleaded with him to stop because it creeps people out, but he won’t listen.  So far the response is 97.3% in favour of his spookiness..
They arrived at the precinct and Scully took one look at the detective before shaking her head, wondering to herself why Duchovny doesn’t have a casting credit.  Meanwhile, after creeping out the entire Buffalo PD, Mulder’s quickly put in a room alone with only a broken doll to ask.  At least the doll answered no.  He was asked to point on the doll to where the bad man hurt him but he didn't know where not to point.
It took a change of tie before Mulder was let out in public again.  Donning his Golden Triangle tie, he decided to do some scientific testing on the tie’s previously observed crotch avoidance properties.  He kept positioning his crotch in the vacinity of Scully's face while she continued to look everywhere else.  He was about to consider the experiment over when he was called back to the precinct.  He was surprised to see that the NY cop was focused on his crotch despite it being nowhere near her face.  More experiments would be required.
With all the dejection he'd already felt this episode, he figured he may as well wear the Diamonds of Dejection tie so he could blame it all on that.  He and his dolly, who he’d named Spookalicious, worked the X-File out together, and with Spookalicious at his side he was pleased to notice that for once he didn't feel dejected wearing this tie.  I have no idea where that blue light came from, but Mulder bathed himself in it with childlike curiosity, wanting to see how his tie would look if he accidentally washed it with his new jeans.  Then he remembered that he doesn't do laundry.
At the end, as Mulder walks beside the pool while we appreciate the glorious monotone of his first voiceover, he's wearing his Tie Candy tie and appears to have a static issue.  But he should be thankful he's not in the pool because it looks like it's fucking freezing in there.  This ep was filmed late March/early April and aired late April 1994. When I was in Vancouver in March 97 they had to de-ice the plane twice before we could take off so I imagine it would still be pretty cold.  But once again I'm going off on a tangent and really should take my meds before I write these.
The Tie Candy tie was so named for its propensity to make Mulder look like eye candy.  More than usual; he seems to always look fresh from the cover of a GQ magazine when he wears this tie.  As he stands there looking hot enough to heat up that pool while he watches the young girls turn blue without aid of a light, he gets a wistful look on his face and you just know he's trying to picture Scully in her bathing suit.  He quickly has to excuse himself and make a hasty exit before anyone gets the wrong idea.
I'm sure this is another tie Scully got rid of because it was dangerous for both of them having Mulder look that good.

FanWorks Wednesdays - avocadoave
Tumblr media
by Keva Andersen
This week’s author may have cut her fic chops on a series that would make any 80′s kid smile, but we’re glad she made the leap to X-Files fic. Meet avocadoave! As a long-time Phile, she brings a great understanding of the characters and a sense of humor that sounds distinctly Mulder to her work.
A great example of that humor is “Sartorially Speaking.” Post-Season 10 Mulder and Scully share some banter over Daggoo and it cracks me up every time. I can picture the eye-rolling that’s going on in this dialogue-only story.
I love road trip Mulder and Scully, and Mulder’s ways of entertaining Scully in “In the Bag” are funny, sweet, and another great example of “so them, I can hear it.”
We all know TV can bring people together, and that includes our wayward heroes. A collaboration with pinebluffvariant, “Manca Qualcosa” shows Mulder and Scully re-opening communication after bonding over a recent TV show that stars someone who looks oddly similar to our favorite redhead. Do yourself a favor and go read this one now, I’ll wait!
We talked with avocadoave about writing, characters, and of course The X-Files.
How long have you been a Phile?
Since almost the beginning. I became aware of the show near the end of the first season. I had to watch on the DL. My parents were really strict about what and how much TV we could watch, and we definitely weren't allowed to watch FOX, so my brother and I had to sneak and watch episodes when and where we could. I didn't see the entire series until college when one of my roommates had the entire series on VHS. Watching it chronologically from the beginning was a transformative experience.
What was your first episode?
“Darkness Falls.” I remember the "nice trip to the forest," and Scully's jacket so clearly.
How long have you been writing fic?
Fic in general? Forever. I filled notebooks with stories as a kid, but they were all based on books--Sweet Valley Twins, The Baby-Sitters Club, Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, etc. The first time I wrote X-Files fanfic and posted it online was fall, 2015.
What inspired you to start writing?
@leiascully's weekly writing challenge. Here's a topic, write for an hour, don't worry about beta-ing. It was doable and took the fear out of the exercise.
Who is your favorite XF character to write?
I love writing both Scully and Mulder, but probably Mulder by a hair. Mulder being a smartass, pushing Scully's buttons and generally being a dork is something I really enjoy writing. I love the way that David Duchovny writes them--smart, funny and flirty. The basement scene in “The Unnatural” with the nonfat tofutti rice dreamsicle is the kind of thing I aspire to. I like to write those light moments in between the darkness, the monsters, the conspiracies, and the angst.
Are there any XF characters you dislike or find too difficult to write?
I've only written stories with Mulder and Scully. I'm not really opposed to writing any character, but I don't feel like I ever connected with or know Doggett and Reyes well enough to write them.
Is there a story you're most proud of or that's a favorite?
The most fun to write was “Manca Qualcosa”  with scienceandmysticism aka pinebluffvariant. It was my first time collaborating on a fic, and man, what a fun way to write. Bouncing things back and forth and building on each other's ideas was amazing. If I had to pick something I've written solo I guess I would probably pick “Pumpkin Guts and Other Stuff.” I like writing about Mulder applying that laser focus of his on other projects besides X-Files and seeing what happens.
Where can people find your work, and what's the best way to send feedback?
It's all on AO3 as avocadoave. I need to tag and organize my fic better on Tumblr. Send feedback via a Tumblr message or ask, an AO3 comment or to [email protected]. All feedback, positive or constructive, is appreciated. I'm still learning to write fic and having others tell me what I did well, or what didn't work for them is the only way to get better.
Do you take fic prompts from fans?
I never have. But it would be a fun challenge.
Have you written your own original characters outside of fandom?
I have. I have a story about a female amateur detective that I've been tinkering with for years.
Anything you’d like to share about your writing process?
I tend to get inspired as I'm trying to fall asleep. I usually have to get up and either scribble down ideas in a notebook or pull out my laptop. I wake up in the morning and have to try to figure out how to organize this mess of dialogue and ideas into something resembling a story. I do not recommend this process. I wish I could be one of those people who could outline, craft the skeleton story and fill in the meat with research and dialogue, but I'm not. I aspire to be one of those writers one day.
Do you have a favorite author? (fanfic or published!)
This fandom is so full of amazing writing talent, this answer could be pages long. But @aloysiavirgata, @dashakay, @icedteainthebag, @leiascully, @scienceandmysticism and @contradiction-to-nature (who definitely needs to write more), are my fanfic heroes. All masters of writing with unique styles. I always learn so much from reading their work. Dashakay's “Blinded by White Light” is the first fanfic I remember reading. It was different from anything I'd ever read and it captivated me and brought me to tears. It will always be a favorite.
Is there any advice you'd give to aspiring writers?
Oh man, I'm so new at this I don't really feel like I'm qualified to give anyone advice. But I would say read. Read a lot. Read, read, read. Sit down and write. Just do it. Even if it's just a sentence here and there. Like most things, you can't get better unless you practice. Find a beta you trust. Find more than one. Feedback from different readers is always helpful. Find your own voice. I think there's a tendency to mimic writers that you admire and enjoy, but you have to be yourself. Don't let your unfinished works haunt you. A half-finished fic is not a failure. I probably have 37 partly finished things on my laptop. Maybe only two or three of them will ever be completed. Maybe none, and that's okay. View it as an exercise. Any writing is good practice.
Anything else you'd like to share that I missed?
Thank you for asking me to participate. This fandom is such a gift. The talent is astounding. I'm blown away every time I scroll through Tumblr. I've never been part of a fandom before, and everyone has been kind, welcoming and encouraging. Being surrounded by people who share my X-Files obsession, and having a place to fangirl has been an extraordinary experience.
Thanks to avocadoave for talking with us!

A Moody Blog
This blog was requested by a fan back in March but it took me a while to think about what I wanted to write about Hank Moody.  This week-end my life has taken on some twists and turns which makes me think of the crazy scenarios in Moody’s life.  So it seems appropriate to write this.  Unlike my other blogs about the work of Duchovny, it takes a little bit of strange, a couple of beers, a shot of Tullamore Dew in me to feel like I might brave the complex and challenging task of writing about Californication.  Tonight is the night for me to write about Moody.
As I write this Warren Zevon is playing.  I have to disclose up front that as I was working on the final version of my (yet to be published) novel “Blue Dreams” I agonized as it got close to finish over what tradition I would establish for finishing a novel.  I assume there will be many more finished novels before my life is over and I wanted to really think about the tradition.   I  love Moody’s Whiskey, Weed and Warren.  Alas, I am not in a legalized marijuana state.  So for me it was Cabernet, Cigar and Clapton.  I am a person who love the rituals of food and drink.  Moody doesn’t seem to me to be a character who appreciates tradition or rituals, so the fact that what he holds Holy is the ritual of his completion of a written project - which, of course, has to be alliterative, touches the writer in me.  If I love Moody it is mostly as a fellow writer with the fantasy of a writer’s life that is so extreme that I will never experience it.  I was saddened by reading “ A Crazy Little Thing Called Love”.    The Moody writing in my dreams is a combination of Bukowski,  Hunter S. Thompson and, since there has to be a bit of the feminine perspective in Moody’s writing, some Erica Jong.    Until I knew of Moody I never thought of a ritual for ending a novel. Now I kind of feel my ritual is locked in stone.  Cabernet, Cigar and Clapton.  How does that change my writing from if it was Whiskey, Weed and Warren?  Anyway, tonight as I write about Moody I have two of the three going for me - Whiskey and Warren!   Most importantly, though, I have the strange going on and if you love Moody, you love the strange.
Watching “Californication”  requires you to have all the brain synapses firing at once.  You have to have your intellectual, creative, crass, lustful and romantic brain functions happening at the same time.  Also, you need a strong sense of smell.  Watching Californication is a little like attending a posh LA nightclub, followed by a walk down the most foul Long Beach alley, finding yourself watching an episode of Father’s Knows Best and waking up in Malibu not sure if the beach scene you’re waking up to in the morning, hung -over, is reality or a movie scene.   Its a long Hard Day’s Night to try and examine.
It took me a while to warm up to it. As i have said in previous blogs,  until 2015 I had never seen David Duchovny in anything but “the X-Files”. In completing a watch to prepare for season ten,  interviews led me to discover my favorite Duchovny- the writer and song composer.   However, in season nine of the X-file I missed Duchovny and watched the “Californication” pilot but did not make it through the whole way.    Luckily I watched “Aquarius” - I am so lustful of Hodiak- and then watched every movie I could find; eventually finding myself back to “Californication.”  I had assumed that “Californication” was a a sex pornography comedy for men with no merit in plot.  I was wrong.
I decided, after some time in examining Duchovny’s oeuvre, that the X-Files is actually the side step in Duchovny’s career.  It happens that Mulder made him an international sex symbol and is my favorite of his roles, but it does not fit into the progression of his work prior to the X-Files in the way that Californication does. Duchovny’s first named part was as a man unable to resist women in “New Year’s Day.”  The scene where Duchovny and Jaglom discusses “Billy’s” motives and Billy says he wants to pay back women who are nice to him with a kiss, with sex and its confusing when the conversation should stop and the kissing begins, could be a much younger Hank Moody.  He then appears as a swinger with multiple sex partners in “The Rapture” .  Kalifornia, Julia has two lovers and Red Shoes Diaries follow.  All of those movies also demonstrates that Duchovny would have no fear of being naked on film.  Even the role of the transgender Denise Bryson on “Twin Peaks” or the role as himself on the Larry Sanders show demonstrate that he is not afraid to confront sexual norms.  It makes perfect sense that he would be Hank Moody.
It is a testament to his acting that Mulder and Moody are so different and, yet, I cannot imagine anybody else in these roles.  Duchovny is a comedic genius with perfect timing and great instincts about when to play over the top and when to play subtle.  There are so many reasons to love Californication, but people who have read my blogs know that I love the yin and yang, the lightness and dark, the sweetness around the pain. It should come as no surprise, then, that if I have to choose my three favorite things about Californication, it is all the contradictions.
1.  Californication stretches my ability to suspend my disbelief, but is in many ways the most realistic portrayal of humanity I have ever seen.
2.  Hank Moody is the most sexy in the scenes with  less clear nudity or sexual depravity.
3.  Californication is an intellectual show with crass humor.  The reason it is so funny is because of the combination of the two which lends itself well to the upside down quality of the chaos.
1.  California stretches my ability to suspend my disbelief, but is in many ways the most realistic portrayal of humanity i have ever seen.
In much the same way that I didn’t realize Mulder was supposed to be an attractive man when I first watched the X-Files, I have difficulty thinking of Moody as all that sexy.  They both have the advantage of looking like David Duchovny (more of that later), but Moody is a man often drunk/ stoned, unhappy with his life, self-indulgent man child, who is chronically unemployed with writer’s block and always getting fired from Hollywood jobs due to being an ass, he dresses sloppily and, while he drives a jag, he doesn’t keep it clean or well maintained.  Also, he is a writer - not an A list celebrity or rock star, a fucking, boring writer.  So, the fact that women not only can’t resist him, but often are seducing him as he valiantly and half-sincerely  tries to resist them is incredulous to me and I really had a hard time dealing with it.  However, Moody finds something special about every woman that he cannot resist  and he wants to be the one that makes sure each woman know how special she is for that unique quality they alone possess.  Well, that’s extremely erotic and sensual.  It takes him from being a misogynist to a character very respectful and caring of women- the way he treats the hooker, for instance, or coming to the defense of women time and time again.  Also the fact that he is a truth teller; always telling his own truth,  that is very charming.
As the seasons progress Moody is in some ways the most calm of the people in his circle.  So many of the scenarios seem ridiculous and absurd.  Rick Springfield portrayal of pure egotism and selfishness.  Rob Lowe discussions of taking a man in his mouth.  Bates alcoholism and his sexual exploits.  Those three guest stars stand out the most to me.  Absolutely over the top absurd !
Then there is the masturbating agent and cokie smurf.  Charlie and Marcie are my favorite couple.  They love each other through it all in a way that seems more real than the ethereal and fairy tale way that Hank and Karen love each other.  While they are immoral, depraved and the upside down version of Fred and Ethel, the fact is couples get bored with their sex lives, they find adventures in other places, they fall into addiction and they have career failures and sometimes do outrageous things to keep financially afloat.  So as impractical as the scenarios are, they seem real in the most natural of ways.
The reason we laugh at these impossible scenarios (such as Hank accidentally going down on the wrong women) is that we know that they are absurd, but we recognize the characters and qualities in ourselves.  Every single damn one of us is a fuck up in some way. This is the truth of humanity.  We are all wonderful creatures who all have some routine and persistent way of fucking it all up.
The character who most demonstrates this is Karen.  Supposedly she is the normal one, placed on a pedestal, but the genius of Tom Kapinos writing is that she is the most fucked up of any of them.  Certainly more than Moody and all because she is not a truth teller.  She marries two other men during the course of the show while never not loving Hank.  She gives Hank back his ring because he might have (turns out he didn’t) impregnate a woman she set him up with when they were apart.  She knew he had sex with her when she accepted the ring, but suddenly the pregnancy meant they couldn’t be together and she never apologizes or admits to any of her part in keeping them apart.  Hank and her both have illusions of who she is which is not consistent with her actions.  Yet, Karen is never over the top unbelievable.  The fact is that when you really consider it she is far more fucked up than any of the foursome -Moody, Runkle or Marcy-makes the show more contemplative about the human condition than in the first casual viewing.
2. Hank Moody is the most sexy in the scenes with less nudity or sexual depravity.
Does anyone really think that the threesome scene with Hank, Charlie and the “squirter” is erotic?  It is sad and funny simultaneously, but there is no eroticism in it.  The Hank and Karen in bed scenes are beautiful but less exhibitionist than most of the scenes with Hank and other women.  When Hank cares about a woman - say Faith - he is intensely attractive and sexy, but when he is having sex for fuck’s sake, he is not.  The women might be sexy and beautiful - often at least a decade younger than Moody (which is a different blog to write), but Hank is not sexy to me in those scenes in the least.
In fact Moody is the sexiest in the two relationships where sexuality is not a part.  The scenes where he plays a father with his innocent and confused daughter are the most beautiful of all.  I watched a scene today of Hank trying to explain to Becca why he had sex with three women on campus and his pain at her pain is so beautiful.  By the way, watch that final scene from Season 3 episode 8 and then watch the Duchovny/ Jaglom scene from New Year’s Day and tell me the rationale for why the two characters are unable to resist seducing multiple women are not eerily similar.
The other great relationship is that between Hank and Charlie.  I often find Hank at his sexiest in those scenes because he is sincere, funny, and full of love and the voice of reason.
Now, I said I would talk about the fact that Moody has the advantage of looking like Duchovny.  The stills of Moody are among the most beautiful things in the world.  They are essentially still pictures of Duchovny naked or mostly naked.  OMG!  His ass is so beautiful I once wrote a poem comparing it to an apple (I think I would like a bite).  His arms and abs are those of a triathlon athlete.  The man can pose nicely in a pair of black briefs and even manages to pull off a kimono.  My favorite shot is the shot when he is on top of the television chef pouring chocolate sauce on her.  A still of that scene brings all kinds of sexual fantasies to my mind (TMI?).  I start every episode thinking to myself I am going to concentrate on...., but, as a credit to Duchovny’s acting, I become so drawn into the story, the humor, the facial expressions and body language that I forget that i am looking at Duchovny’s ass.  Case in point is the hilarious dialog in the chocolate sauce scene.  It simply is not as erotic as the still, because the character of Moody, or the depravity of that moment etc. distracts from the beautiful nudity.  However, the scene where the same cook is thrown out of the car and Moody insists on waiting with her for her husband to pick her up and he tells her not to allow herself to be ordered off the television like chinese take-out, Moody is sexy in that scene; a man I could see myself falling in love with it.
If we are all of us fucked up, the fact that Moody makes no excuses for being fucked up and tells the truth makes him the most adorable fuck ups of us all.  He owns his faults and the part of him that cares about his daughter, her mother, his best friends and women in general is beautiful.
3.   Californication is an intellectual show with crass humor.  The reason it is so funny is because of the combination of the two which lends itself well to the upside down quality of the chaos.
One of the things in common with all of Duchovny’s television characters is that Moody is a well read, erudite, witty and intellectual man.  Love listening to the man talk in the same way I love a long monologue from Mulder.  Tom Kapinos writes intellectually.  I like the fact that each season is a separate and distinct “arc” but the story always returns to the “old fashion love story” ,to quote Duchovny, of Hank and Karen,  I like that season two harks back to “The Great Gatsby”.  It is a show splattered with great literary and musical references.  It is a show which sarcastically asks why women don’t have pubic hair anymore and asks for people to be less shallow in how they interact with one another.  Yet it is also a show where Moody defecates on a car and where fart, masturbation and stinky finger jokes abound.  I am not usually a low brow humor type of gal, but I do believe that without this lower brow humor, Californication might seem pretentious and a little full of itself.  So in the end, even for a snob like me, the jokes such as the mangina, Rick Springfield’s name being said in its entirety every time, the falsetto mother fucker, and a man eating a chocolate bar out of a woman’s most intimate part make me laugh.
I am glad that I gave Californication not only a second but a third chance.  Moody is my third favorite Duchovny’s character behind Mulder and Hodiak, but that is probably because I tend to be drawn more to serious drama than to light comedy.  As a self-proclaimed foremost authority on David Duchovny I can say that Moody is a role for which Duchovny’s early work prepared him and that his comedic ability is truly genius.  I hope he does more comedy- romantic comedy.  Would love to see him in a remake of the Philadelphia story but I am not sure which of the two male characters he would be better in playing.  The writing of Tom Kapinos and the great acting of the rest of the ensemble:  Evan Handler, Pam Adlon, Natasha McElhone, Madeline Martin are amazing.
I hope a movie is made.  i would love to see a movie made with the plot that the Broadway production of “A Crazy Little Thing Called Love” finally is made.  Hope it occurs soon!

Ok I didn’t send the first anon but I sent the second one and I was just shooting the sh*t leaving idiotic anons and now I can’t believe I’m actually going to write an RPF but here it is !!!
Title: Nursing ur twig legs back to health
Author: DavidDuchovnyFrustration
Pairings: David Duchovny X Karmic force, Gillian Anderson X Poetic justice, Annabeth Gish X Happiness, Mitch Pileggi X a daiquiri
Summary: Ok I have no clue what will happen in this story.
Rating: I don’t think anyone should read this story.
Chapter 1: The Gilliovny Tent 🎪
“No! I don’t want a crepe, Gillian!!” David Duchovny yelled at no one, as the edible he just munched pumped through his system. He was stomping amongst the food court tents of Spooky Empire in his red Vibram “shoes”, trying desperately to escape but finding it impossible with all the tempting food smells pulling him in different directions. For some reason, tents made him think of Gillian Anderson. Everything made him think of Gillian. Tents. Tent poles. Tent ropes. Tent buttons or zippers. Even David’s current wife, Brick Duchovny, made him think of Gillian. David felt so tortured.
But then his eyes laid upon it, square and encased in pink tarp: a GI GI GI GI GI
GILLOVNY TENT?!?!?!?!!? 🎪???!?!
David felt a surge of adrenaline just like when he ran that triathlon all those years ago. Ever since his 58th birthday, David had been preparing for any opportunity like this one, and finally, he thought, the day has come when he could re-live this younger self. He ripped his clothes off and underneath it all he was wearing one of his old triathlon wet suits. It was way too tight but it made him feel young and hip.
Since David’s favourite hobby is to break into a flight response at any sign of anything remotely dangerous, David booked it into a run from the harmless pink Gillovny cube. But his twig legs immediately snapped from the chain reaction of, not only all the bad karma that had been awaiting for him from above, but also from the fact that his gimmicky Vibram “shoes” that he loves so much do not actually provide any sole support and were sold to him by a careless retail worker paid through commission. This worker told David to his face that they cared about his twig legs, but deep down in their heart, they did not.
From up in space, the Karma God looked down upon David and broke into uproarious Gillian Anderson Laughter™. This God, I will refer to them by the completely random name of Karma God Mark Griffiths, had been waiting for David’s defences to be lowered by both an edible and food court smells for them to exact their revenge. They had finally unleashed their karmic force when David was at his most vulnerable. True, it was cruel, but Karma God Mark Griffiths regularly read up on the feminist discourses occurring on various online sources and tumblr that attacked David’s choice of behaviours from September 2017 onwards, so they did not feel much guilt.
Chapter 2: Karma!!
Meanwhile,
“I’M FREE!!!” Gillian Anderson screamed!!!
She did a shoulder shimmy while running across the smelly public washrooms in the hallway, and did a heel click in front of an impressionable child. And then she ran out into the street, did a front flip, and landed in the splits in the middle of a four way stop, ripping the skirt she was wearing down the sides. But she didn’t care, she was free from The X-Files forever!!!! Several cars honked at her.
“GILLIAN, WHY ALL THE RACKET?” David screamed as he was being loaded into an ambulance with a loud blaring siren. The ambulance was also playing his “Every Third Thought” “music” “signed CD” in the driver’s compartment to soothe David’s ego.
“oOH shit!!!!” Gillian gasped as she caught sight of David’s destroyed little legs. They looked like zig zags.
“David I thought all those workouts were helping you” she said, then she burst into uproarious Gillian Anderson Laughter™ in sync with Karma God Mark Griffiths’, who was still laughing from above up in space. The ambulance drove away, and seeing David’s face so damn angry right before the ambulance doors closed shut only made Gillian laugh harder.
Chapter 3: The hospital
At the hospital…
David was alone in the hospital room with only Scammer Brad Davidson by his side. Scammer Brad was trying to arrange an opportunity for David to perform his music for whoever would listen in the hospital, since the ego rush of that would be potent enough to heal David’s broken legs. But the nurse declined, saying that the patients were in enough pain as is.
Meanwhile in the food court…
David’s visitors: Gillian Anderson, Annabeth Gish, Robert Patrick, and Mitch Pileggi were all sitting in the food court thinking of ways they could help David. Because they knew David so well and so personally, they knew the key to David’s healing would be to appeal to his ego. They brainstormed ideas, made a plan, and decided they would each have some one on one time with David.
In the hospital room…
Suddenly Mitch Pileggi came into the hospital room with a photo of a young, handsome Mulder. Mitch was also sipping a daiquiri to celebrate David’s healing in advance.
“David, could I get your autograph buddy?” He held out the photo and was happy knowing that this would be good for David’s ego, especially the fact that this was a photo of young David and that David was in complete denial of his age.
David always kept a sharpie on hand, even in his hospital gown pocket, for when his minions, I mean fans, who would love to have his autograph. But right before his sharpie could touch the photo a nurse stormed in.
“SIR THERE IS NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED HERE” and the nurse dragged Mitch away by his neck.
“Sorry David!!” Mitch screamed, then took a sip of his daiquiri.
Then, Annabeth Gish walked in with her cellphone.
“Hey David! Could I get a selfie old friend?” She took a snap of their heads side by side, David tried to smile through his injuries.
But in the end this did not help David’s ego because he was so in denial about his age that he did not associate himself with the image in the selfie.
“Please refer to my “Every Third Thought” album cover for my current appearance!!!” He tried to tell Annabeth to make this the caption for this selfie, but she had already darted out of the hospital room without a second glance. She at least hollered a “thank you!” before she left, however.
“Wheee!!!!” Annabeth ran out of the hospital room, screaming “START THE CAR” at Robert Patrick who was waiting for her in the parking lot just like in that IKEA commercial. She wanted to get out of there before David realized she had acquired a selfie without paying his overpriced Meet n’ Greet fee. She also wanted to get out of there before David would try to sell her one of his albums.
Now, it was Robert Patrick’s turn to try to help David. He dialed up David’s hospital room from the parking lot, intending to shower him with verbal compliments to appeal to his ego. David picked up,
“David Duchovny, rockstar extraordinaire” David mumbled.
“Yeah uh hi David, its Rob-“ David hung up immediately. He still never forgave Rob for REPLACING THE THESPIAN EXTRAORDINAIRE DAVID in his own show despite David being the petty one to throw a tantrum and stomp out of The X-Files.
Now, David’s ego hurt.
“BRAD? BRAD!!!!” David screamed, but Scammer Brad Davidson was at his bedside the whole time, David’s ego was simply so large that it could fill a space to the point that he couldn’t detect anyone else in the room. Scammer Brad Davidson looked up from his cellphone where he was leaving smart-ass replies to David’s fans who were asking for their year-old delayed CD’s.
“Yeah, David? What is it?”
“Please, my ego hurts. I need my “music”, my audiobook, one of my breakfast television interviews… blare something throughout the hospital speakers, something, anything!” David flailed around as if he were drowning.
“OK, OK, bank, I mean buddy, I’m on it!” And Scammer Brad Davidson shuffled out of the room to get the hospital staff to keep his meal ticket on life support.
Just as Scammer Brad had turned the corner in the hallway, tiny footsteps were coming towards David’s hospital room from the other direction.
Chapter 4: Gillian’s hug.
Gillian Anderson came into David’s hospital room and didn’t say anything. Her face was blank.
Even if David and Gillian loved each other deep down to their cores, they could not recognize who they were looking at on the surface right now. David could see that Gillian had fully blossomed into a successful, powerful woman, but David’s psychological defences typically blocked women like this from his vision and he literally never learned how to interact with women like this so he was paralyzed into silence and stillness. From her end, Gillian could not see anything recognizable from David, and it had nothing to do with his appearance changing due to old age.
Gillian gave him a hug and he hugged her back. But this couldn’t help his ego because David was no longer the man that she knew. This was a man who was sustained by fake affection, so the genuine warmth and love of this hug was lost on healing his legs. But, David thought, this was the first time in a long time that he had felt real warmth.
After the hug, Gillian saw that his legs were still broken and her loving hug did not heal him. So, she held his hand for a bit then left without saying anything. She thought, maybe by February 2019, when this man comes to London, he will also come around and snap out of his daze. Until then, she had her own life to live.
Chapter 5: The Healing.
Brad was not able to convince the hospital staff to blare David’s “music” through the hospital speakers but he was able to purchase David a set of Hello Kitty headphones from the hospital gift shop so that David could listen to his own “album” in private.
A doctor came in and his name tag said, “Dr. Magic”. He touched both of David’s legs and they healed immediately. David was astonished, and was about to say “thank you” and express gratitude for the first time ever in his life, but Dr. Magic simply motioned for David to remove his Hello Kitty headphones. Dr. Magic did not need anything from David. But he would not leave David without a damning premonition to accompany his generous miracle:
“If an empty life is enough for you, so be it. If the empty affection of fakers is enough for you while you alienate those who actually care for you, so be it. If you are sustained by expendable affection and you choose to give others only expendable affection yourself, then so be it. Good luck David!”
Dr. Magic left with a smile. David was quiet, but not angry.
Epilogue:
When David left the hospital, there was no one left waiting for him in his train(wreck) except for his wife, Brick Duchovny. David loves dogs because humans are too damn complicated. Why couldn’t humans just do everything they could to appeal to his ego like dogs? David thought. He went home, sat on his couch, and had a conversation of nonsensical barks with his wife.
THE END.

Note
Based on your posts, you really want Season 11 to happen. Any thoughts on how it should play out?
Okay, Anon I hope you are ready. You are in for a ride. This is definitely too much to ask for, so let’s just state the fact, that these are my crazy wishes and not my rational demands.😂😂😂
Writers: Frank Spotnitz, Darin Morgan, Vince Gilligan, Glen Morgan, James Wong. Also, I want a woman writer/director! Rob Bowman should direct at least one episode. Chris Carter is only executive producer!!! He cannot write anything. ANYTHING. For reasons…
Sveta: I have alien DNA. For sure.
Scully: Have you had a doctor confirm that?
Sveta: No.
My Struggle, written by Chris Carter
Anne Simon stays out of this season ‘cause honestly I ain’t scientist but I’m pretty sure this can be done better than season10 was. (And her tweets make me go insane…)
Now, about the stories; I really think that - if there is a news season - it will be the last season. We will see Mulder and Scully for 10 more episodes and then we have to say goodbye. This is how I would prefer to do that:
*I just realised that most of my ramblings are against how CC wrote Season 10. so basically if he will not write, many of these things shouldn’t even come up. Cause the other three episodes from Season 10 were solid….But here we go!*
We need no Miller or Einstein or whoever else they think should steal screentime from  Mulder and Scully. NO THANK YOU. I’m waiting here patiently, being supportive for decades and it’s not for you to introduce me to new characters. It’s for you to finally give me what I’m waiting for, for what it seems centuries.
We bring down Mulder and Scully from that damn bridge. No one is being abducted, because that’s just lame, we’ve been there, done that. *Okay, if you really want anyone to be taken by aliens, CSM is good to go. He is dead anyway and we don’t need him*
Scully saves Mulder’s life, they reunite with their son and the plot will make sense. Yes, it is absolutely doable, this fandom’s greatests already came up with scenarios and wrote stories of the ‘How to continue this mess CC left behind’ part.
I need a very solid explanation on why Reyes was working for CSM. She cannot be remembered like this. Her character is so much more and I need an explanation of why she did what she did. Obviously, she was given no choice. Maybe she works for CSM because of William. Give me something good.
More Skinner, Poor guy was barely in the new season. Give him more interactions with his agents. He’s been with them long enough to give him some cool plot-lines.
Could we maybe bring back The Lone Gunmen somehow? They deserved so much better and I want them back and alive. I want them to visit Mulder and Scully in their cute countryside house. They would totally geek out with William and teach him ‘cool stuff’ while Scully would be watching them, smiling and rolling her eyes.
Tumblr media
Mulder and Scully are definitely not estranged and they have a big conversation about their past, (Flashbacks) present and future. It can be done with William being there, and asking questions and later on they continue just the two of them. Preferably on the porch of the Unremarkable House. William could be playing with Daggoo.
We’ve been ripped off of so many great and important MSR scenes and I want to see them. (At least some of them)
Scully’s cancer is in remission conversation
The whole IVF plot
When Scully tells Mulder that the little tiny being growing in her belly is his baby, it’s his son. They made him together, it’s their miracle what they were waiting for…
Mulder finding Scully and William, bringing them to the hospital. The three days they spent as family, and the conversation of Mulder going into hiding
Scully - no, not Skinner, damn it - has to tell Mulder that she gave William up
When they working through all the shit while being on the run after so many horrible things happening to them
When they finally buy the house, whey they move in
When they are happy and just adorable, casual Mulder and Scully. Cause, guess what CC, you can write these scenes without them being boring. I mean, not you. But someone else….
I want Gillian and David to play these scenes and I wanna die while I’m watching them. Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are great actors. You know they will bring their A+ game, given the chance! Let them shine.
Tumblr media
Let them do a brilliant job with brilliantly written scripts. Give them the opportunity to show off their talent. Give them the humour, give them the drama, give them the creepy cases, give them their dynamics. Embrace their skills, their strength and use that chemistry!
Listen to them and let them have a word in what is right or wrong to their characters. If they want to touch or kiss on the cheek, you should bloody let them do just that!
HAND HOLDING, KISSES, and SEX SCENES are a must.
*I’m sorry but just like Jimmy Kimmel said: “You two, should have sex. You should. It’s been like 24 years, everyone knows.”*
And one last thing:
I really really want David Duchovny to write and direct the last episode. When I say goodbye to Mulder, Scully, William and Daggoo I want it to be a proper goodbye. And if there is one thing I learnt during these years while being a shipper and a fangirl of this show, is that:
No one knows better, writes better, understands better these characters than David Duchovny. He writes Dana Scully & Fox Mulder in such a unique way like no one else can. And I am so here for it. I’m so here for how David imagines the end of their stories. I trust him more than anyone else with the series finale of The X-files.
Tumblr media
*Of course, if it is ‘only’ a season finale, that is totally fine, too*
