Being able to read in your dreams is such a terrible thing.

Last night, I had a nightmare and in it I was like "this is a dream and I can prove it to myself by reading something" and lo and behold, the text was perfectly legible, convincing me it was real.

hi darling, i hope you're well 💖 i have made a few posts with general writing advice and advice for writing smut that i will link below as well as a great guide i found years ago that helped me. i feel like i might just be repeating myself but these are my main rules for writing smut/nonsmut.

there will come a point where you feel like your smut sounds repetitive, like it's bound to happen. there's only so many positions we can put these characters in and so many ways to say moans or whimpers or what have you. so when that happens i highly rec either taking a step back and reading something (with smut or without just read something that will get your own words out of your head), and or skipping to the end of the story. write what happens after the smut, write the emotional impact of this smut that's taking place or going to take place for your characters. completely remove your focus from the act itself, no p no v, just feelings. just all the mental stuff. even if it's just in a separate doc and you never use it, it's a good pallet cleanser.

and much like the above another tip i have is if you have one specific part of a fic / one shot / drabble you want to get to: write it first. skip to that part. more excited for the smut? write that first. more excited about whatever happens in the middle? write that first and then write everything else after. writing the best part can help keep the excitement for the piece as a whole i've found.

read read read read and read some more. you literally cannot write well at all no matter how you write or your writing style if you don't read!!!! fics, silly romcoms, horror, self help, whatever you like reading read it. not only are you reading which is amazing for the brain and imagination but you're helping your writing skill grow without even having to write. (but also if we are just talking getting better at writing smut then reading things with smut in it is a blessing to your creativity)

don't ever follow the crowd. if you don't like a trope, kink, character, don't write it because it's popular or someone else wants you to write it. write what you want. on your terms. always.

hi yall i know these posts are getting old but ive been kinda hitting a wall lately vis a vis pain management which has made art Kinda Rough (it's been getting progressively worse over the past few months which is why i didn't too great @ artfight this year), but. after going thru some of my sonic idw liveblogs ive realized that idw really is including more and more slice of life stuff as of lately. i hadnt noticed it truely as a trend until seeing it all laid out, but it makes me really happy and excited for future stuff :D

like all the examples i could think of for this i realized have all been pretty recent. winter jam, the sonic and blaze hanging out bonus story, the chaotix having dinner with vanilla and cream bonus story, the halloween special, the summer special... these have honestly been some of favorite bits in idw period so its really cool that it seems to be something theyre starting to do more!!

See, I love Izzy very much and would love to make an agere kit for him. However, I am admittedly more of a "shake him in a jar" type of fan than a "wrap him up in a blanket" type of fan, and I think this is contributing to my struggles in coming up with things that would properly suit regressed!Izzy

Excuse you, we're way hotter than that guy. We've aged out of being a socially anxious nerd in a cloak. Now we're a hot nerd in a trench coat and/or several different layers of jewelry and/or an outfit that has people say to us phrases like "you look like a time traveller who figured that the 1980s are basically the 2020s in the grand scheme of things and is only now realizing that the time periods are very different however you are indeed very hot" or the perhaps more descriptive "you look like harry dubois".

Actually, was nerd the one that originated from the guys biting chicken's heads off with their teeth? We should use that one. We're the guy doing that but hotter and also more likely to torment fictional characters for fun.
