Not to mention legacy of abuse that is often passed for generations. Saying 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger' to victims of abuse is practically romantysizing the abuse. It's ignoring huge fact that the abuse victim isn't guilty of anything. That they are molested, humiliated, tortured, insulted, assaulted, starved, beaten up and so on only because they just were there. Because their abuser had access to them.

And if you think 'just don't make yourself accessible' think of adults imprisoning their children and abusing them their whole life over the years. Tell that to children that was exposed to pedophiles. I dare you to say kids that are being locked up in dark room and starved there as they spend days in filth because adults make such choices for one of their children. You think new born baby can make itself not accessible for abuse of their 'parents' ?

If you ask 'maybe they deserved it?' or anything like this congrats you aren't just ignorant. You are lacking emphaty to point you can consider having antysocial disorder!

People just want abuse victims that are soft and kind and gentle, the kind of victims who validate their beliefs that “everything happens for a reason”. It doesn’t occur to these people that abuse actually damages people, that it could turn victims bitter and resentful rather than into poster-children for resilience and inner-strength. Victims don’t just exist to pay homage to your worldview that “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” as if abuse could ever be a positive or an experience to be grateful for.
