Saw a whole lot of ants on the sidewalk this morning... 🐜 🐜 🐜 #ants #insects #insectphotography #antvideo #summervibes☀️ #2021 https://www.instagram.com/p/CS-BQshLLg1/?utm_medium=tumblr
This is a video of an entire #AntColony moving across our property and into the woods behind the house. I gave them safe passage, but had they tried to set up the #nest closer to my house the story might have ended differently. There are at least 4 different species of #ants I've noticed so far. Distinct from one another, I just need to learn which ones are a threat to wooden houses... Gotta protect my colony's nest! 💪👍 Two versions of the same video, the first is just for enjoying the ants, the second is @david.attenborough_official pondering the subjectivity of existence. I had posted that audio before, but it was with chickens, and I appreciate this audio enough to include it again. Enjoy! 💡📽️🎬 🐜🐜⛰️ #ant #insect #insects #queen #larvae #pupae #eggs #bugs #nature #Italia #Lusiana #MountainAnts #AntVideo @antscanada #ACFam #brood #colony #insectsofinstagram #insectstagram #insectsphotography #AntLife #Cinema (at Lusiana)
🐜 Most Leaf cutter ants are infertile females & can carrying up to 50 times their own weight! All ants have different things to do in the nest. The small ants you see here tend to be the fungal gardeners. The larger ants are either workers (whom carry the leaves back to the nest) guards, soldiers or reproducers. The closer one looks the more one sees. 🔍 #leafcutterants #entomology #tiffanybozic #antvideo (at California Academy of Sciences)
Yup, I just took a video of my new kitchen clean up crew. She (?) took a lot of time preening her antennae after that. #ants #bugslife #kpduty #insect #antvideo #nature #worldinminiature
Tulip, the eastern black carpenter ant (Camponotus pennsylvanicus) is a median worker. She likes to hang out at the highest point of the driftwood branch. Like most elderly ants (she is nearly 2 years old) she no longer enters the main nest. (I think older ants avoid the nest chambers to prevent disease) she spends a lot of time looking up… she has escaped twice. On her first escape I gave her the pink dots.
