i got myself one of those gacha mermaid bjd boxes and....got the one i didn't want haha but!!! i'm going to custom her into a red/gold goldfish (not a big fan of the teal)

they're strung (which i did not expect), they pose pretty well, the elbows are double jointed as you can see, the only issue is that the heads are pretty dang heavy so the head posing is a little limited

on the plus? side, these are probably okay-sized for other 1/12 heads and there's a clear/headless custom option too! the neckpiece fits well on the nendoroid faceplate but not so much on the headback because the bottoms of the nendo headbacks are curved (also the neckpiece is just thicker). you could probably cut into the headback to fit the neckpiece and it'll be okay? maybe? idk

i'll be testing the fit with the sommungchi head when it comes in in like....three months but for now, thinking about customs.

here’s a slightly better photo of my Antu Tidal Secret Language mermaids!

their transparent parts seem to shift colors in different lighting, and they have iridescent shimmer powder suspended in their fins. Dawn’s bow (middle) and the tips of Jellyfish’s hair (far left) shimmer in the light, too.

I’m in love with them. 10/10 purchase!

Doll mail!

today, i got my kikagoods package, i ordered two different dolls because i wanted to get one of my friend (who had been eyeing one of them) and i wasn’t sure which one she’d like more. and i kept the other one

they were the one of the Antu tidal secret language mermaids, and one of the Kukaka insect cafe girls!

first, the Antu mermaid

i have less pics of her, because she is wasn’t for me, but here’s the box. it’s very large. if you’ve gotten a bjd blind box before, you’ll notice how much bigger it is

my friend got gang coral, the purple one! i don’t have a pic of all the contents of the box, but they come with

-a seashell bra (and mini sticky dots to attach them to the doll)

-two extra sets of hands

-a set of hip fins that peg into the tail

-a dress (different patterns for each doll)

-the usual faceplates (1 face, 1 front hair, 1 back hair)

-a flexible coral crown

i’ll say very worth the price compared to what you get for other bjds blind boxes, plus the fact they’re huge.

they are not super easy to display (very top heavy, no legs) but they can kind of “sit up” on their tail. (i have a pic later on)

next up, the maid cafe insect girls!

i was very excited to get this one, they’re very unique looking and you all know i’m big on bug girls

apparently i didn’t take a picture of the box this time, oops.

here we can see all the parts, as well as the unique body sculpt these girls have!

this takes the cartoony proportions of the series 2 bonnies and pushes them up to 11. i adore their giant hands and feet

here’s their extra hands next to the antu mermaid extra hands, for reference.

here’s her dressed! i did have to take the hands off to fit her sleeves, and they were quite difficult to put on again. a good amount of trying to re-string her with a wire and holding my breath and hoping i wouldn’t drop the string and dissemble her further.

the dress is open for her abdomen and magnetic wings to show. it only velcros a small amount

here she is! i got the white moth, rongrong. she was my third choice (behind orchid mantis and scarab) but seeing these now, there’s not a single one that could have disappointed me.

Doll of the Day! July 20, 2024!

I got myself a few more trading dolls this year. I purchased them last year, bu they just got here yesterday (thanks to Amzn slow-poke service, and the obvious Holiday season slowing everything down during these times). I am in-love with the NAGI Exchange Student Series Lanlan Lang boy I got! I really wanted one of the three boys, and I got one! I feel so lucky, I rarely get any of the ones I really want from trading toys, whenever there are few that I would rather not get. Those are usually the ones I end up getting! Lol! With this series, I really didn't want to get any of the girls (they are beautiful, but I rather own mostly boys, if the series has a mixed release). I wish they had made this one an all boy series, but they made the "plainer," everyday looking one the all boy series, instead of these one. Regardless, I am thinking of getting the other two boys from this series, because Lanlan is super cute, and I love the look of the other two as well!

I also got my first Penny Box Antu Tidal Secret Language Mermaid Series doll, she is stunning IRL, I got "Shimmer." I imagined these dolls would be mind-blowingly beautiful in person, more so because I have seen what the previous series are like in person (I own four centaurs and one OG PB Antu release). These mermaids are incredibly beautiful in person, I am so glad I was able to get one. I am not sure if I'll get more, I wish the one I got had a jellyfish on her hair (I love jellyfishes!), but otherwise she's so beautiful! I love her, but I already knew I would, regardless of which one I got from this set. They are all so pretty. (:

I also attempted to get a Paula Purrfect from the Nanana Surprise Minis, because I've had no luck finding her in stores. Unfortunately, I didn't get her. I wish I had known they would lower their cost, I would have gotten at least four at the time. I'm probably not meant to have her, but I'll keep trying! T__T;;

in a despicable twist of fate, my second kikagoods mermaid was a double of my first 😭

if anyone in the US is looking for the green mermaid i'd be happy to trade her for any of the other characters. the box has been opened but the doll has not been taken out at all, and she comes with all her accessories.
