Another day, another media outlet trying to convince everyone that Kate has the power to grant royal warrants.
Kate Middleton is set to break from decades of tradition and bestow her first set of royal warrants for the first time ever, it has been confirmed. As reigning monarch, King Charles decides which members of the royal family are permitted to hand out royal warrants, signifying their own personal use of a specific brand. When the Princess of Wales announces her decisions, it will mark the first time in over 70 years that a royal bearing the title Princess of Wales has had the opportunity to grant the honour – an opportunity that was not bestowed upon Princess Diana.
Because outside of the royal media circles, there are NO signs that UK businesses are putting in applications to become grantees for Kate's royal warrants.
How do we know?
Just check The Royal Warrant Holders Association website.
In 2024 HM The King and HM The Queen granted their first two sets of Royal Warrants of Appointment of the new reign. The grants were made as part of a review of all companies that held Royal Warrants at the time of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. New Royal Warrants will be granted in 2025 to other companies with an established and ongoing trading relationship with the Royal Household as part of the usual cycle of reviews and applications.
Doesn't list The Prince OR Princess of Wales there.
The application section also does not mention The Prince or Princess of Wales.
Companies can apply for a Royal Warrant of Appointment if they have supplied the Households of HM The King or HM The Queen with goods or services for at least five years out of the past seven years.
Again, no mention of The Prince OR Princess of Wales.
Applications do not even open until mid-May.
Applications are open from mid-May until the end of June. Application forms and instructions are available from the Association upon request during this period only. Each application is scrutinised by the Royal Household Warrants Committee, which makes its recommendation to the Grantor.
All this hype about Kate issuing royal warrants soon is just that.
HYPE!
These stories about Kate are just pr cover to hide that she's not doing anything right now and has no plans to do anything in the near future.
She's probably still up at Anmer Hall right now, spending her nights away from William & the kids. Or maybe she's staying with her parents. Or in a different property in Windsor Great Park. Or back at Adelaide Cottage while William is sleeping on the couch somewhere else.
But she is NOT in the process of picking and choosing which companies are going to receive her royal warrants.
But Will & Kate fans are doing an excellent job proving that, once again, they are CHUMPS because they believe every word of these pr lies concocted by the KP comms chief, Lee Thompson.
#well there's your problem#fleet street#twitter#magazines#royal warrants#The UK's Marie Antoinette#kensington palace#pr games#lies lies lies#“Celebrity” Catherine Middleton#kate middleton#Catherine The Princess of Wales#Wales fans are CHUMPS

Top Travel Destinations in France & England with My Little Trip
France and England have long been two of the most beloved travel destinations in Europe. From the romance of Paris to the historic charm of London, there’s no shortage of incredible experiences waiting for you. Whether you’re seeking iconic landmarks, quaint villages, or scenic landscapes, these two countries offer something for every kind of traveler. Let My Little Trip be your guide to discovering the best that France and England have to offer.
1. Paris, France — The City of Love Paris needs no introduction. Known as the "City of Love" and the "City of Lights," this iconic metropolis is a must-see for any traveler. From the world-famous Eiffel Tower to the charming streets of Montmartre, Paris is brimming with culture, art, and history. Stroll along the Seine River, explore the majestic Louvre Museum, or sit at a café and let the world pass by you. Every corner of Paris is magical, so go there for romance, adventure, or relaxation.
Travel Tip: Explore the unknown places like the Le Marais district or the Canal Saint-Martin for a more Parisian experience.
2. Provence, France — Lavender Fields and Vineyards For a more relaxed, scenic experience, head to Provence in southeastern France. Famous for its fields of lavender, olive groves, and vineyards, this region is visually beautiful and has a very slower pace of life. Wander through the medieval villages built on hilltops, like Gordes and Roussillon, and don't miss the incredible Roman ruins in Nîmes or Aix-en-Provence. Whether you’re hiking in the Calanques National Park or sipping wine in a local vineyard, Provence is a perfect getaway for those seeking natural beauty and charm.
Travel Tip: If you’re visiting in summer, be sure to catch the lavender fields in full bloom — the sight and scent are unforgettable.
3. London, England — A Blend of History and Modernity London, the capital of England, happens to be a city that effortlessly blends history into modernity. From the ancient Tower of London to the majestic Buckingham Palace, London is steeped in history. But it's also always changing with trendy neighborhoods, high-end shopping at Oxford Street, and a fabulous cultural scene with world-class theatres and museums. Whether history, food, or a love for art is your fascination, London has something on offer.
Travel Tip: Experience panoramic views of the city aboard the London Eye or relax with a peaceful stroll through Kensington Gardens.
4. The Cotswolds, England — Picture-Perfect Villages For an quintessentially English experience, head to the Cotswolds. Located just a short drive from London, this region is known for its charming stone cottages, rolling hills, and idyllic villages. Places such as Bourton-on-the-Water with its picturesque bridges and quaint shops, or Stow-on-the-Wold with its antique stores and cozy tearooms are waiting to be explored. For those seeking a slower, more relaxed pace of life, with scenic walking trails and peaceful countryside vistas, the Cotswolds is the perfect destination.
Travel Tip: Don't miss a visit to Bibury, a frequently referred to most beautiful village in England, with picture-book cottages along the River Coln.
5. Versailles, France — Royal Grandeur and Gardens This Palace of Versailles, built outside of Paris, stands as the quintessence of French royal extravagance and majesty, as it remains one of the world's greatest monuments. Stroll through its opulent halls, among which are found the world-renowned Hall of Mirrors, and through the great, sprawling gardens of André Le Nôtre. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site and not to be missed for anyone with interest in history, architecture, or grand monarchial excesses of the French monarchy.
Travel Tip: If visiting in the warmer months, explore Trianon Palaces and Queen's Hamlet for which Marie Antoinette occasionally escaped to a less-urbanized retreat.
6. Cornwall, England - Seaside Beauty and Coast Villages To a lover of the ocean, there is no destination more pleasing in the southwestern part of England than Cornwall. Known for dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, and beautiful fishing villages, Cornwall provides a stunning perspective on the UK coastline. Take time to visit St Ives-the quaint town, the town that is a hotspot for the art galleries and white-sand beaches-and experience Land's End, England's westernmost end. It also has a rich history and folklore, including stories of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
Travel Tip: Try the iconic Cornish pasty, a pastry filled with meat and vegetables — it is a local delicacy you won't want to miss!
7. Normandy, France — History and Stunning Coastlines Normandy is a region that's both rich in history and natural beauty. Mont Saint-Michel, a famous place situated on a rocky island with stunning beauty and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is here as are the historic beaches of D-Day from World War II. Another historic seaside port town is Honfleur, with its colourful building, and the cathedral city of Rouen, famous for being the place where Joan of Arc was martyred. Normandy’s beautiful coastline and quaint villages make it an ideal destination for both history enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Travel Tip: The beaches of Omaha Beach and Utah Beach are must-visit spots for those interested in the Normandy landings during World War II.

Do you have any favourite non-fiction history books? Of any period
Oooo, lemme stretch my brain! Here's some from off the shelves:
On of my oldest favourites is Antonia Fraser's Marie Antoinette: The Journey; probably one of the first really long history books I ever read. It helped my tiny brain that it really read like a narrative story, and even thought I knew what was inevitably going to happen to poor Marie it was a brilliant read then and still is now.
Lesley Downer's Geisha: The Remarkable Truth Behind The Fiction, which covers not only geisha/geiko culture itself but the history of the women's space and role in Japan's art and performance culture for more than a thousand years. This was where I first learned about Heian Japan and The Tale of Genji, about the ukiyo (floating world) culture of the Edo period, the oiran courtesans and the rise of the female entertainer, who would in turn become the geiko.
Orlando Figes Natasha's Dance: A Cutural History of Russia - astoundingly written and researched, bursting with stories beginning from the very birth of St. Petersburg, and exploring numerous strands of Russian identity.
Catherine Arnold's 'London series', but in particular City of Sin: London and its Vices - exactly what it says on the tin. A history of the sex trade in London from its first founding, featuring all walks of life.
Joad Raymond's Milton's Angels: The Early-Modern Imagination - You'd think, after the Reformation, angels would be passé in England. You'd think wrong. One family in 1649 were seeing and conversing with angels in their kitchen! And of course, Milton wrote extensively of them in Paradise Lost.
Lucy Worsley's Courtiers: The Secret History of the Georgian Court: Chronicling the lives of al those found in a painting that still exists in Kensington Palace, from a royal prince's unwanted mistress to a feral child treated as a pet by the court, it's fitting to quote from the introduction - John Hervey said, 'I do not know any people in the world so much to be pitied as that gay young company with which you and I stand every day in the drawing-room.'
Doris G. Bargen, A Woman's Weapon: Spirit Possession in The Tale of Genji. While this is more a literary analysis of the book's narrative (you'd be surprised at how many people get possessed in it) it's also a fascinating anthropological insight into the rise of mono no ke within the polygynous marital system of the Heian aristocracy, and how spirit possession could have been a means by which noblewomen could redress the extreme imbalance of power.
Lizzie Collingham's The Hungry Empire: How Britain's Quest For Food Shaped The Modern World. I'm reading and rereading this for a fiction project I've had in the works for some time now, and every time I read it I have to stop, put it aside, stare at the wall and mutter 'you unimaginable bastards'. (You being the East India Trading Company to begin with, and carrying on from there.)

You’re My Best Friend
a/n: hey! i came across @quirkysubject‘s queen prompt meme the other day and as i was reading through it, i came up with an idea of my own - the boys just hanging out as friends. so i started thinking about it more and i decided to write a short little one shot about it!! i’m pretty proud of how it turned out, since i haven’t written much of anything, so hopefully you guys like it too! please give me feedback, that would be very much appreciated, and let me know what you think!! (i also posted it on my ao3 here)
words: 1.6k
no warnings, just friendship
The cool spring breeze came though the opened windows of Roger and Freddie’s flat. It was March and university had started, and work was piling up for everyone. After a short band meeting with Brian and John, they all decided it was better to stay here and do some work than to go all the way back home, they figured they could all study together. Although Freddie didn’t study much, being an art student, but he didn’t mind, he could find something to work on.
After the (very short) meeting, they all got to work, Brian reading an astronomy book (something about Zodiacal dust?), sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of the coffee table, across from the tan couch in the living room. John was working on what seemed to be some sort of schematic or blueprint, in between Brian and Freddie, on a yellow bean bag Freddie found in a random stall in Kensington Market. Freddie, on the floor with his back on the couch and across from Brian, seemed to be working on a number of things at once, flipping through a sketchbook, drawing a bit on each one, until he finally settled on one and paid extra attention to it, content with what he started with. Roger… well Roger was studying for a Biology test he had coming up, but got a bit bored and distracted, so he started to read some magazine that was lying on the coffee table in front of him, while he himself was sitting upside down on the couch, long blond hair touching the floor.
It was quiet, a good noise level for studying, but Freddie couldn’t take it anymore. He could handle it for a bit, but the sound of pages turning was starting to become deafening. He broke his view of his sketchbook and looked around. All three boys were entranced in what they were doing and didn’t seem to notice or be bothered by the quiet. He quickly did a double take of Roger sitting upside down and smiled to himself. What an idiot, he thought, lovingly, of course. He glanced down at Roger’s long locks and couldn’t help but give them a quick tug, causing Roger to yelp and drop the magazine he was gazing at on his face. His yelp also startled John, who looked up at the ruckus, and Brian, who also dropped the heavy book he was reading on his face.
“Rog!” Brian groaned, sitting up and giving Roger the biggest death stare he could muster. “What was that for?! I dropped my book on my face!”
“Don’t blame me, Fred pulled my hair out!” Roger whined back, rolling on his side and ‘accidentally’ kicked Freddie’s head.
“Oh, never mind then, thanks for that Freddie.” Brian gave Freddie and Roger a big smile, to which Roger just scoffed in reply and contemplated throwing a pillow at Brian, they were called throw pillows after all.
“Don’t be so dramatic, dear, it was just a slight tug. Besides, I thought you’d be used to that by now.” Quickly dodging another ‘accidental’ kick from Roger, Freddie stood up and looked at John who snorted and was giggling in amusement.
“Not sure you have room to talk about being dramatic, Fred.” John giggled again, watching Freddie as he got up from the floor and made his way towards the turntable in a corner of the room next to a window.
“Me!? Dramatic?! Oh, I would never, why would you ever suggest that Deaky dear?” Recanted Freddie as he took a random record from an old box on the floor. These records were Roger’s most prized possessions, and hated it when anyone even thought about taking one in case they weren’t careful enough, but he didn’t mind when Freddie took one – he trusted him. The record in questions was Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland, a band favorite. He put it on the turntable and carefully placed the needle to the first track, and let it play.
“Hendrix. Good choice.” Brian said and got up from his place on the floor and followed Freddie to the kitchen, where he was starting to put water in a kettle. Roger and John decided to follow as well, finding it extremely hard to work without tea or some snacks.
“Yes of course darlings, I can make you guys some tea, thank you for asking!” Freddie said – maybe sarcastically, the boys couldn’t really tell (they could, they loved to annoy him) – when he realized that they all gathered around the kitchen with him, picking at some sweets and other food that was left over from other flat mates.
“I didn’t know you can read minds, add that to the long list of things to keep note of when I’m around you.” Roger chuckled and ate some peanuts that were laying around, realizing that he probably needed to clean this table up more, it was a mess – he’d have to tell one of his flat mates about it.
“I don’t think Fred would want to see what’s going on in your mind.” John quipped and Brian stifled a laugh. Roger could really be thinking about three things – girls, cars, or music. And John was right, Freddie – if he did have mind reading powers, which unfortunately, he didn’t – did not want to take that chance.
“He’s right, if I could read minds, I wouldn’t waste my time with your minds. I’d read, I don’t know, Marie Antoinette’s mind, to see what she was thinking. And how she’d spend all her riches, oh, and what kind of jewels she liked best.”
“I’d read Jimi Hendrix’s mind, maybe I’ll be half as good as him if I knew what was in his mind and how it worked.” Brian contemplated this as Voodoo Chile played in the background, letting the bluesy guitar take over his senses. The rest of the boys nodded and quietly agreed, Jimi Hendrix also being one of their favorite artists, one of the few things they could all agree on. “Actually, maybe I’d read Leonardo Da Vinci’s mind. I like Italians.”
“How boring. I’d read John Lennon’s mind, a musical genius and I’d like to get in his head. He’s already had such a big impact on the world, it would be interesting to know what’s in his head.” Roger chewed with his mouth opened as he said this, so Freddie gave him a glare as if to say You better close your mouth before I make you.
“All interesting, but I’d probably read William Burrough’s mind. The man’s seen and done more than I ever will, maybe I can catch a glimpse of what goes on in that kind of… environment.” John ended with a laugh, and the others followed suit. As quiet and calm Deaky was, he could go wild and cause lots of trouble, never underestimate the quiet one.
The boys thought about their decisions and all agreed with each other, thinking Of course he would pick them, knowing each other so well, they basically knew each other’s answers before anyone said them.
Suddenly, the kettle started screeching and startled them out of their thoughts. Freddie got the kettle while Brian took some teacups out of the cabinets, already knowing where they were, having been here many times before. John also knew where the teabags were, third drawer from the right, and took a box of Earl Grey tea, Freddie’s favorite. At the same time, Roger got the sugar cubes from the drawer next to him and prepared the area to make room for the tea. Freddie poured everyone a cup and fixed themselves their tea to their liking.
The smell of the Earl Grey, the sound of Hendrix, and the cool breeze was calming. Feeling content and happy in the moment, John couldn’t help but smile. He was with his bandmates, who happened to be his best friends, drinking Earl Grey tea – of all things 20 something year olds would be drinking on a Saturday – listening to music and enjoying each other’s company. He only met the guys a few months ago, but he already felt at home and was completely comfortable with them. This wasn’t exactly what John imagined when he thought of college life years ago, but he wouldn’t trade it for the world.
“What’s on your mind, Deaks?” Brian asked, a hint of a laugh in his voice and small smile on his face, bringing his tea to his mouth and taking a sip.
“Oh, you know,” John laughed slightly, “just thinking about how I imagined life would be like in Uni versus what it’s actually like.”
“What, like we don’t party and have a really good time?” Roger and Freddie looked at each other and couldn’t help but giggle, reminiscing on all of the alcohol fueled nights at their little market stall, trying on ridiculous clothes and whatnot.
John almost spit out his tea with that interaction and he remembered all the debauchery that went on with his newer friends, especially with those two. “Well, yes of course but you know,” John started, “I just didn’t think I’d be drinking Earl Grey with Jimi Hendrix playing in the background on a Saturday having a study session with my best friends, you know.”
A couple of hm’s were heard, and again, the boys agreed. It was a bit unusual to be doing this when they could be doing practically anything else, but none of them minded. It was nice, spending time with each other, not just as a band, but as friends. They knew they had a good future because of it, a band that stays together have a very good chance to be successful. And none of them would want to share the fame, money, success, and the hardships, with anyone else. They were all each other best friends, after all.
“I’m hungry, you guys wanna get some lunch?” Roger broke the comforting silence, and a chorus of yeah’s followed. The boys quickly finished their tea and headed out the door.

Antoinette Type VII [BAPC-55] by Alan Wilson Via Flickr: One of a series of monoplane types designed by Leon Levavasseur and built in France, the Type VII first flew in 1909. It was the type used by French Aviation pioneer Hubert Latham, in his second attempt to cross the English Channel. This took place on 27th July 1909, just two days after Louis Bleriot had successfully made the crossing. Unfortunately the aircraft ditched just under a mile away from the English coast, so near and yet so far!! This example was built for Robert Blackburn, and joined the Science Museum in 1926. It is now on display in the ‘Flight’ Hall. Science Museum, South Kensington, London. 16-6-2015

Interesting how none of the UK media was at The Royal Marsden, an NHS facility.
Kate completely ditched the royal rota, and they weren't notified of her engagement until she was leaving the hospital.
Instead, only Chris Jackson and Andrew Parsons were on hand to record the event.
Will & Kate already have an in-house photographer and videographer on the payroll.
This approach is also in part due to the unedifying and, at times, downright cruel social media and public commentary around her illness in the first half of last year when, in the words of one insider, 'the world just went mad’. It upset – and angered – the couple more than many realise. And it has made them even more determined to continue to tell 'their story on their own terms’. As a result, they have massively beefed up their own media team, employing in-house videographers and photographers and working with freelance filmmakers such as Will Warr (who shot the much- talked-about family video released in September).
Looks like KP is in the progress of eliminating the rota, just like Meghan & Harry wanted five years ago.
Many will empathise with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to take tighter control of media relations and no longer deal with the tabloid press, but from a PR perspective it is likely to only ‘fan the flames’. Judging by the raging front pages across the red tops today, it seems Harry and Meghan’s desire to dim the spotlight on their private lives could be doomed to failure. Yesterday, the couple publicly announced they want to step away from "senior" royal duties and become more financially independent. They stated they would like to "balance" their time between the UK and North America, having recently returned from a long trip to Canada. They also want to take far greater control of media relations, which includes engaging with "grassroots media organisations and young, up-and-coming journalists", providing access only to "credible media outlets focused on objective reporting". A key part of their new media approach is no longer participating in the 'royal rota' – which provides exclusive access to members of the royal family to The Daily Express, The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, The Evening Standard, The Telegraph, The Times and The Sun. In a pointed criticism of the royal rota, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated: "Regrettably, stories that may have been filed accurately by royal correspondents are, also, often edited or rewritten by media editorial teams to present false impressions", which are then amplified by media outlets across the world. The pair also took a swipe at the four tabloids, which they said often published photos and information "simultaneously or in advance of their own release". "This formula enables these select publications to profit by publishing these images on their websites/front pages. Any breach in this understanding creates long-term repercussions," the statement read. More content will be shared directly through the pair’s social media feeds. But is taking such a radical approach to media relations wise for one of the most high-profile couples in the world? In a snap PRWeek poll this morning, 44 per cent of Twitter followers thought it was a good move, 30 per cent believed it was ill-advised and the rest say time will tell.
[...] "This media strategy is straight out of Hollywood, where publicists hold all the power. Celebrities only talk to ‘friendly’ journalists and, more often than not, have total copy and image approval. That is absolutely not a ‘free and open media industry’. Harry and Meghan’s objectives may be understandable – even admirable – but the way they’re going about this is a lesson in how to alienate the public (not to mention Harry’s entire family). They’ve disrespected the very institution that gives them their fame and their platform – and Royalists won’t forget (or forgive) that." Rob Lester, managing director, ThreeSixty
Was this visit by Kate just a one-off in excluding the royal rota? Will we see this repeated IF Kate does any in-person events in the future? Or was this Kate's last in-person engagement for a lengthy period of time, and she's just going to use the KP in-house media-recording team from here on out?
Interesting in that the media was not alerted until Kate was leaving the hospital, yet the hospital looked completely prepared with a group of people for Kate to talk with while being on camera.

You Can Now See Princess Diana’s Wedding Dress IRL

Ever since Netflix’s The Crown Season 4 aired the Princess Diana wedding scene, fans have been craving for another glimpse at her nuptials to Prince Charles. Now, Lady Spencer’s iconic gown (and its gigantic 25-foot-train!) is on display in a new exhibition at London’s Kensington Palace, titled “Royal Style in the Making.”
The ivory dress featured dramatic puffed sleeves and encrusted pearls and sequins that shone brightly during Princess Diana’s arrival at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral in June of 1981. She styled the gown, made by Elizabeth Emanuel, with her family’s tiara and a 153-yard veil, which sadly will not be displayed at this year’s exhibition, according to Women’s Wear Daily.
“Royal dress isn’t about fashion,” Claudia Acott Williams, curator at Kensington Palace, told Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s traditionally been about marrying stability and continuity with innovation.”
But some royals, including Princess Diana, still put style over duty, including the late Princess Margaret, whose irreverent fashion made her a style icon, as also portrayed on The Crown. In 1964, she attended a charity ball in an 18th-century-, Marie Antoinette-style gown, custom-made by stage designer Oliver Messer, which is also on display at the “Royal Fashion in the Making” exhibition.
Princess Diana’s gown was loaned to Kensington Palace by Prince William and Harry, who oversee their late mother’s wardrobe and jewellery collection. The two have gifted pieces of jewellery from Diana’s archives to Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, including Diana’s blue sapphire engagement ring, which Prince William used to propose to the Duchess of Cambridge back in 2011. When Prince Harry proposed to Markle, he, too, used two diamonds from Diana’s personal collection to design a three-stone ring that featured a centre gem sourced from Botswana, where they first went on holiday together.
“Royal Fashion in the Making” will be on display at Kensington Palace until January 2, 2022.
Like what you see? How about some more R29 goodness, right here?

We checked in to the Pilgrim Hotel - a wonderful quirky little place close to Paddington Station and not far from Hyde Park. Antoinette and I went for a walk to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park - it's a busy area but very lovely.
