Inspiration for a large, traditional, enclosed living room remodel in porcelain tile with beige walls, a typical fireplace, and a wood fireplace surround.

OMG, this Brooklyn Brownstown can turn into a DREAM HOME. It was built in the 1870s, in the Italianate style, and everything original is still here!  Plasterwork, mantels, marble sinks, lighting fixtures, interior shutters; it is all here, although in estate condition. (Meaning in bad shape.) You gotta see this place.

I wish I had the money to show it some love- would you believe that some time during the 20th cent., it was used as a boarding house? And, yet, her beauty endured. 

The sitting room door is off, but that may be it, leaning against the wall on the right. Look at the patina of worn wallpaper around the light switches.

Ooooh, shutters still on the windows. All of the marble fireplaces are pristine, and there are even a few pieces of antique furniture still here. 

Oh, look, there’s the door!  And, just look at those double frosted glass doors. Don’t you love the arched doorways? 

This beauty still has the mirrored inset. 

This is crazy- there isn’t even a chip in that plaster medallion. Plus, somebody kept it clean, b/c I once looked at a house w/a ceiling medallion and it was filthy.

Wow, look at the niche detail over the sink. I get that they matched the wood on the kitchen cabinets, but I would have to gut it and make it more authentic looking.

The home has the typical gracefully curving stairs on all floors. These look like someone replaced them. 

This fabulous bedroom has the original fireplace, light fixture, and sink. That sink! It even has the storage cabinet underneath intact.

The walk-in wardrobe closet is all there. Amazing.

The closet is between 2 bedrooms. This one also has a sink. 

This closet isn’t a bad size for an old house.

Either this fireplace is wood, or someone painted over the marble. I think it’s wood.

The floors are gorgeous. I wonder why there’s an inset wall in this room. Was it open at one time?

The bathrooms are godawful total guts, but that’s alright, they need pedestal sinks, clawfoot tubs, and Victorian water closet toilets, anyway. I adore this house. In the shape it’s in, the asking price is $2.795 million. I hope that whoever buys it, preserves it.

Lake House Interior Design Ideas

  Grace Hill Design worked with the homeowners and Michael Paul Design Build to design the Dutch Colonial style home which has an East Coast Hamptons feel. The homeowners wanted a classic, casual lake home to accommodate their active lifestyle. The home has a lot of fresh crisp surfaces like white shiplap, enameled cabinetry and marble countertops, so we wanted to add warmth with reclaimed wood ceiling features, wide-planked rustic floors and antiqued brass light fixtures. The white oak wood hood in the kitchen matches the natural wood counter stools made of nautical rope. Those, along with the open shelving give a casual, inviting “pull up a chair” kind of feel that the homeowners wanted when entertaining friends and family. The light floors kept every room feeling very coastal and the white oak is extremely durable for their family of five.

All of the lighting, furniture, rugs, artwork and accessories all came from Grace Hill.

“When asked to describe the overall design style, the homeowners said “they want a happy house”. We worked with a color palette of sky blues, navy, pops of raspberry and reds along with a whole lot of white to give the house a fresh, happy lake-y feel. The blue accent color used on the Front Door, Dutch Door and Laundry Room cabinetry was custom mixed on site. We blended some paints that we were testing until we found the perfect “happy blue” to be featured in several rooms. That thread of blues makes the open concept floor plan flow well.”

Beach House Interior Design ideas

  Beautifully designed by the host of HGTV Dream Home 2018, Marnie Oursler of Marnie Custom Homes, this beach house features plenty of coastal interior design ideas.

The 5 bedroom, 5.5 bath beach home is located just blocks from the ocean in Bethany Beach, DE with a sophisticated beach vibe. A calm, neutral palette reminiscent of refreshing salt air mixes with a variety of textures, wood tones, and rough stone, making this the perfect summer getaway.

This coastal home features many unique design elements by Marnie Oursler, including custom built-ins and molding throughout, reclaimed wood accents, hanging beds, exposed beams and French doors leading to a private balcony.

The custom designed kitchen is truly the heart of this home boasting white maple cabinetry, gorgeous white quartzite countertops and adding a touch of glam with a white pearl mosaic backsplash. White Oak floors throughout offer a feeling of casual beach elegance.

Beach House Interior Design ideas

  Beautifully designed by the host of HGTV Dream Home 2018, Marnie Oursler of Marnie Custom Homes, this beach house features plenty of coastal interior design ideas.

The 5 bedroom, 5.5 bath beach home is located just blocks from the ocean in Bethany Beach, DE with a sophisticated beach vibe. A calm, neutral palette reminiscent of refreshing salt air mixes with a variety of textures, wood tones, and rough stone, making this the perfect summer getaway.

This coastal home features many unique design elements by Marnie Oursler, including custom built-ins and molding throughout, reclaimed wood accents, hanging beds, exposed beams and French doors leading to a private balcony.

The custom designed kitchen is truly the heart of this home boasting white maple cabinetry, gorgeous white quartzite countertops and adding a touch of glam with a white pearl mosaic backsplash. White Oak floors throughout offer a feeling of casual beach elegance.

Outside the home, the entrance welcomes guests with a front porch and an extra wide blue custom front door, a signature of Marnie Custom Homes. The unique exterior design is accentuated by the cedar siding gives a classic beach house look. This home feels comfortable yet elegant and was built for generations to enjoy.

Modern English Farmhouse

  Hello, my friends! How are you feeling today? I hope you’re feeling good, in good health, and are able to take a few minutes to enjoy this house tour I have prepared for you. It’s truly a pleasure to share such a beautiful home!

Recently built by Macallan Custom Homes, designed by TS Adams Studio Architects (also featured here, here, here & here – yes, I do love their work!

), and with interiors by Tyler Colgan, this Modern English Farmhouse comes to detox our minds of cluttered spaces, and I don’t say that only because this home was just completed and it’s still unfurnished, but mostly because its empty spaces will allow you to imagine how you could decorate it and, most importantly, it will allow you to notice the architectural details in a way that you might not have had if this home was already furnished.

This two-car detached garage exudes charm with its classic architectural details.

Modern English Farmhouse

  Hello, my friends! How are you feeling today? I hope you’re feeling good, in good health, and are able to take a few minutes to enjoy this house tour I have prepared for you. It’s truly a pleasure to share such a beautiful home!

Recently built by Macallan Custom Homes, designed by TS Adams Studio Architects (also featured here, here, here & here – yes, I do love their work!

), and with interiors by Tyler Colgan, this Modern English Farmhouse comes to detox our minds of cluttered spaces, and I don’t say that only because this home was just completed and it’s still unfurnished, but mostly because its empty spaces will allow you to imagine how you could decorate it and, most importantly, it will allow you to notice the architectural details in a way that you might not have had if this home was already furnished.

Take notes on the sources shared such as paint colors, lighting, countertops and notice the inspiring kitchen and bathrooms details. I hope you have a really good time!

What a curb-appeal! A beautiful custom iron railing adds an elegant touch to this classic home.

Timeless Beauty

It’s impossible to not be impressed by this timeless home.

Grey Windows

If not ready to commit with black windows, grey is a color that is current but still subtle. These grey windows were painted in Mindful gray SW 7016 by Sherwin Williams.

Off-White Paint Color

Off-White Exterior Brick Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Soft Chamois.

Garage

This two-car detached garage exudes charm with its classic architectural details.

Gated

Custom iron gates create a sense of privacy and safety to the backyard while allowing easy access to the back of the house.

Front Door

This arched black metal and glass front door is a show-stopper! Notice the copper awning and the beautiful arch detail.

Kitchen

I always feel excited when I see a well-designed space and this kitchen feels perfectly balanced. It’s functional without feeling overly done.

The butler’s pantry features deep green/teal cabinets and ceiling. White marble countertop and White Oak hardwood flooring add a subtle contrast to this dramatic space.
