Naturally I don’t want to get mine or anyone’s hopes up, especially bc i think it’s a bit loosey goosey, statement wise, but it’s definitely more affirmation than any other recurring writer/director would dare speak without some knowledge it’s something he is allowed to do

 and since we know jj abrams strongly supported a black main character/john boyega’s hiring when other people involved in the franchise didn’t want it, it wouldn’t be completely foolish to trust that he’ll at least give us queer side characters, since he seems so focused on mindful inclusivity, per se. 

this is actually one of the main reasons cishets aren’t happy with jj sometimes because he apparently focuses too much on “fanservice” ?

sionna & miriam, some gays pt2

She's seen Miriam fight before. It's nothing new, especially to them. They fight all the time, in a variety of places against a variety of foes with their motley crew. There isn't anything inherently special about seeing Miriam fight.

This fight, though, is completely different.

Sionna can't stop moving or risk being gutted by a darkspawn's rusty blade. She dances, light on her feet: her massive great sword cuts two of the vile creatures clean in half. They stumble, falling to the ground with a meaty thud. They're surrounded by a horde of the damned darkspawn. Sionna, Miriam (Sionna spent a lot of her time contemplating her, to her own bemusement), Wynne (her magic felt odd on Sionna's skin, akin to her grandmother's, but... older), and Shale (who wouldn't stop calling her by odd titles that weren't her name), had marched into this together.

So they fight.

Miriam moves like a devil freed from the pits of the earth.

More accurately: her short dark hair is a blur about her face as she whirls and flips her swords to viciously rip apart the torso of a darkspawn, only to duck low and sweep her legs to knock another off balance. She doesn't have to stand to cut off its head with one ferocious blow. She blocks one blade and uses the darkspawn's momentum against it to let it crash to the ground; a sword to the back, and it stops moving. Another half a heartbeat and she's twisting to kick an aggressive darkspawn into Sionna's reach. Sionna moves instinctively and it gets cleaved in half; through the blood spatter Sionna sees Miriam pause in her majestic fury.

Their eyes meet. Miriam's eyes rove over Sionna's body, following the length of her sword. Blood drips from the blade. Sionna feels large and lumbering, clumsy. Miriam gives her a crooked smile, blood staining her face. It's disgusting, but at the same time---

Miriam tips her sword from her head like it's a hat and Sionna's a lady she's encountering on the street. Sionna huffs, and at Wynne's alarmed "Sionna---!" she spins in place and beheads the final darkspawn.

The body crumples, and Sionna steps over it to approach Miriam, who's cleaning her blades and sheathing them, one by one. Carefully. She's never asked where Miriam's gotten the blades from, or where she's learned to fight like that. To move like that: deadly grace and power, all contained in a body eleven inches shorter than her.

"You fight well. Really well," says Sionna. Her smile is a little goofy.

"Flattery gets you nowhere. You're still gonna help with dinner, y'know," Miriam laughs, ducking her head. She looks up at Sionna and pushes a stray lock of hair behind her pointed ear.

"I'll remember that for next time I want Alistair to gather wood or whatever it is he's best at," Sionna exhales. "I wasn't tryin' to get out of anything, anyway. You--- it's like dancing, to watch you."

"You watch me?" Miriam's smile grows.

"Uh, yeah," she raises an eyebrow. Sionna's thankful for the blood spatters on her face to mask the deep blush she no doubt sports. "Especially when you move like that. I haven't seen anythin' like it since the sworddancers back home."

A big boulder moves to their side, voice grating. "If it is quite done with its mating dance, I think it best we loot and move on. Unless it has other plans."

Miriam shoots Shale an incredulous look, and rolls her eyes but waves for Wynne to join the three of them in picking through the bodies.

That evening, over the fire, Sionna sees Miriam contemplate her swords as they glint and shine. Her expression is withdrawn and pensive, as if thinking very far into the past. She hefts one blade, swinging it experimentally. She sets it down, cracks her knuckles, and enters her tent, alone.

Hell yeah an old friend of mine used a FC I still hate. Don’t know his name tbh. But our muses were A Thing and then she pretended I didn’t exist for like two years so!! Yeah good times, that bitch

It’s more stressful now. When I first joined as a small child it was so much easier? Less stress about formatting and themes, much easier to make friends. My drafts & asks didn’t make me cry. No one was elitist and rude. But I probably just didn’t pay enough attention!

yeah dude that mostly sounds like ADHD inattentive type (it's all under one umbrella now). also do some research into autism cause our symptoms overlap a lot (like your stimming) and the hyperfixation stuff sounds almost like special interests. I'm not autistic but it doesn't sound like the way I experience hyperfocusing. (basically hyperfocusing is like a mode you're in, while a special interest is a thing you focus on a lot.)

thank you! i just read a couple things on special interests and some stuff seems to resonate with me but not others. i’ll definitely do some more research on that. i don’t think i ever would have thought to look into that though, so thanks for the tip! :o

at the very least, i think i might do hyperfocusing anyways, because i definitely get into a mode when i start working on something, be it homework or a personal project or doing a hobby, and when i get into that state i can’t stop until i personally feel like it (unless that’s totally off the mark for what hyperfocusing is, if so i apologize)

It’s been a year of playing Hell’s Rebels for us, but only a few stressful af months for our poor, dumb characters. So here’s the Silver Ravens when they first met vs how they look now. Plus one mail order cleric who all but refuses to do normal cleric things like, you know, healing.

Would be better but no one would tell me the armor they wear so whatever. Live with my choices.
