14 lipca 1896 r. urodził się legendarny kataloński anarchista i bohater Wojny Domowej w Hiszpanii Buenaventura Durutti. Pracując na kolei dołączył do anarchistycznych związków zawodowych CNT (Confederación Nacional del Trabajo) i wziął udział w strajku generalnym. Następnie współtworzył działalność grupy Los Solidarios walczącej z dyktaturą monarchii i kleru poprzez rabunkowe napady na banki oraz zamachy na życie wyższych rangą przedstawicieli władzy państwowej. W 1923 r. został zmuszony uciekać do Francji, a następnie na Kubę, do Chile, Meksyku i Argentyny, aż do powrotu do Hiszpanii w 1931 r. po proklamowaniu II Republiki. Znów zaczął organizować działalność strajkową i wzniecanie buntów, za co spotkało go deportowanie do Gwinei Hiszpańskiej (obecnie Gwinea Równikowa). Durruti znów wrócił do Hiszpanii i wraz z wybuchem Wojny Domowej w 1936 pomagał organizować rewolucyjne milicje robotnicze do walki z prawicowymi nacjonalistami generała Franco.

On July 14, 1896, the legendary Catalan anarchist and hero of the Spanish Civil War, Buenaventura Durutti, was born. While working on the railway, he joined the anarchist trade union CNT (Confederación Nacional del Trabajo) and took part in the general strike. Then he co-founded the Los Solidarios group, which fought against the dictatorship of the monarchy and clergy through bank robberies and attacks on the lives of senior representatives of state power. In 1923 he was forced to flee to France, then to Cuba, Chile, Mexico and Argentina, until returning to Spain in 1931 after the proclamation of the Second Republic. He again began organizing strikes and inciting riots, for which he was deported to Spanish Guinea (now Equatorial Guinea). Durruti returned to Spain again and, with the outbreak of the Civil War in 1936, helped organize revolutionary workers' militias to fight the right-wing nationalists of General Franco.
