They cute 🥺 they really grew on me in a short time lol.

I still have my reservations for Sonic's story in '06 and his role and how Elise spends the majority of time being kidnapped... but the scenes she shares with Sonic are very cute, and I really like the idea of this sheltered princess who feels compelled to repress her emotions learning how to let go and have fun with Sonic. And he, well. He likes dem tall girls :P

I admit that I'm biased. As a young Sonamy shipper in the 2000s, I quickly grew resentful of Shadamy shippers painting Sonic as an unlikeable/abusive jerk so that Amy would fall into Shadow's arms, and Sonadow shippers who would write Amy as either a yandere for Sonic, or make her commit suicide so that Sonic would fall into Shadow's arms. It's not the ships's fault, I'm aware! But I can't get the bad taste out of my mouth :(

Also it doesn't help how the majority of Shadamy content I've come across was a variation of "Shadow sees Maria in Amy" due to their famous SA2 scene, and personally I don't vibe with this. Amy should be seen as Amy, not as Maria 2.0. As for Amy, I think that everything she might like about Shadow, she already likes in Sonic, and what makes the two different are traits she probably wouldn't like.

So yeah, sorry, I really don't vibe with this despite knowing that I should :(

Well, on a positive note... I like that ShTH has a Shadamy path called Miracle of Love? Amy's sole mission in the game is cute. And Shadow says this in the recap between the mission and the Egg Breaker: "I arrived at the doctor's castle, and I ran into Amy. She was looking for Cream, who was missing. I didn't have any reason to help her, but since I was looking for the doctor anyway, I figured…. Anyway, I've wasted enough time already! I need to track down the doctor at once!" (lmao I can't believe ShTH is so peak that it can make me even accept Shadamy and Sonadow, truly best game <;3)

No no. This is all accurate. Toxic Sonamy shippers acting like Amy should’ve killed Elise for being near Sonic when in canon, Amy and Elise are friends and in the cookbook, Amy said that she and Elise would’ve loved to be friends with each other (mind you this happens after the timeline reset btw but Amy would still finals ways to befriend the Princess of Soleanna)

Also, I’m pretty sure that Amy attacking Elise would’ve been counted as regicide and also would’ve left Soleanna without a monarchy.

When Toxic Sonamy shippers say Elise "stole" Sonic from Amy and she should've beaten Elise up for stealing her man, or Amy should've kissed Sonic instead

I always thought that the "siblings" angle for Shadow and Maria was pushed by SoA to avoid accusations of promoting bestiality since Maria's human and Shadow is part hedgehog, part alien. They probably thought that having a human have an (implied) romantic relationship with an animal would have left a bad taste in many western mouths.

Possibly. Which is ironic, given that Sonic was always meant to be paired with human women, and given that '90s cartoons were rife with cartoon man/human women ships.

Antis move the goalposts so often, it's difficult to keep track of why Shadria is problematic on a day-by-day basis lol. Bestiality isn't as common an argument as the "incest" thing now that folks have pointed out the hypocrisy in criticizing Sonelise but not Shadria.

I'm old enough to remember fandom's keen interest in Shadria back in the early aughts. The atmosphere surrounding the ship was way different than it is now. Folks weren't as concerned about "purity" so much as "my ship is better than YOUR ship," a sentiment that often led to ship wars and character bashing (the art of writing an unwanted character out of a ship by mischaracterizing, torturing, killing, or otherwise humiliating them in fic).

This isn't to say "the good old days," because every era has its drawbacks. The 2000s were very homophobic and you had to warn for "boys kissing" in your fanfic lest readers take offense.

But on the flip side, I don't remember anyone being quite this pearl-clutchy over Shadria, let alone any other ship. Complaints ran more along the vein of "Why are you making Shadow emo?"

Not everyone shipped Shadria, ofc - Shadamy and Sonadow were equally popular, if not more so - but it was a pretty popular one. So it's kinda weird to see such pushback against an honestly milquetoast ship no one would have batted a lash at in 2004.

Is it true there was a sonic game where he fell in love with a human woman? I think I’ve seen clips of it. And they made Eggman realistic looking and he looked weird.

Yeah, it’s from what I and many others consider to be one of the worst Sonic games. I was just replaying it yesterday just to fuck around with the Egg Wyvern boss and the Shadow’s Radical Train level because I find amusement in those and Eggman is involved.  I want to use this as an excuse to dive in and discuss it now.

Also to preface this, I’m not against anyone that does like this game. I’m glad they can find genuine unironic enjoyment out of it. I have a right to have an opinion on this game because I’ve played and have owned it for years. I know it like the back of my hand as I do with all the main Sonic games.

The game is called simply called ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ because it was supposed to be a reboot (a failed one) but we call it Sonic 06. I wouldn’t say that I feel a burning hatred towards it anymore like I did back in the day- Unless I’m playing it because it’s one of the worst experiences I’ve had and the clunky gameplay makes me angry lol. But nowadays I play it for some kinda fucked up amusement or something, a couple of levels are a little fun and I like Silver? Idk.

But the game is fucked up in gameplay with the controls, glitches and lag. The story is basically a mess. It’s almost like they realized that since the characters erased the events at the end so they have no memory of it. The character models look uncanny and the attempt at realistic humans failed. Look at how scary the in game models are especially:

Human characters are actually my favorites most of the time in Sonic media but in this game all of them are demons and this is tragic. The only thing I kind of like is the in game interactions with some of the people in the hub worlds, to an extent.

The last woman on the right was Sonic’s love interest in the game. I’m generally not against human x anthro ships and that’s not the reason why I didn’t like it. This always irked me because of the weird creepy human models compared to the huge headed anthros. And spoiler alert, she kissed Sonic’s lifeless body. Why would you kiss a dead hedgehog? I don’t need any other reason to dislike it even though there are lots more.

MOST IMPORTANTLY: I really think they did my boy dirty because of the awkward design choices and the way they hardly made him look and act like himself. Like how did they go from this big, gorgeous, round, tall man that was full of life and energy with a nose that was bright red for some reason (it was the booze, all that alien invasion, black comet shit and dying three times in alternate cutscenes was rough):

He’s all over the place in proportion, his arms are still thin and his legs don’t look right, nor do the short cut boots. His teeth look a bit uneven, unlike the actual modern’s perfect set. His chin isn’t visible in this render but in the game, it’s got this flat turned up look?

Imo this is one of the first examples of a drastically skinnier Eggman predating Boom and the movie other than like, that bad Sonic bible inspired stuff. I’ve seen some say it’s to look more realistic or something. But how is not being as fat adding to any realism? That doesn't make sense and I am very certain that this is not what a more realistic version would look like as a whole.

And the outfit... For some reason, his tits are out. He also has golden nipple buttons instead of the usual square ones. The outline of stitching on his bodysuit makes it look like there's some kind of flap he opens to piss. 

Also, this was the first game where they showed Eggman eye color:

Show them on the actual modern Eggman already instead of on this imposter! And look, his glasses aren’t even pince-nez because apparently those aren’t a thing now.

OH and he doesn’t have a colored nose either. It’s not red, it’s not pink/peach- anything. There’s no blood flow, he’s dead, dead inside. SPOILER: he does actually die in the Egg Carrier crash in the game but it technically never happened because Sonic went back in time and stopped it. But in 2005 and 6 they really wanted to keep having Eggman non-canonically die for some reason. It was his fourth death in a cutscene in two years. That’s rough.

Anyway- it’s a good thing that the events of the game were erased so technically he didn’t ever actually look like this in canon!

To end on a much more positive note, the next main game after this was Sonic Unleashed- one of the games where they had Eggman looking so handsome in the most gorgeous CG cutscenes! And there were realistic detail to his model that actually look perfect on him and that's more like it! THERE'S the man that I miss dearly whenever I see 06 💜💜💜💜💜

To paraphrase a video I saw recently, I know this makes up like 90% of you people's politics these days, but not everything is about sex.

Yeah it's wild because they act like all the NSFW stuff gets shoved in their faces, and it's like girl what were YOU doing in the Shadria NSFW tag, hmm? 👀 I might need to don a hazmat suit to venture into the ship tag, but you forgot your Bible, apparently xP

That being said, two statements that can coexist: 1.) As long as the NSFW content is properly tagged, who cares? and 2.) Not all ship content involves NSFW dynamics. Truth be told, the Shadria content I like is very niche; old married couple!Shadria dynamics are difficult to come by.

With Shadria specifically, I love the sheer pulls people make to portray it as problematic because nobody agrees on exactly what makes it problematic or to what extent. They may think they do, but then their explanations inevitably boil down to "well I don't like it, therefore it's wrong."

"They're siblings, Your Honor" is amateur hour. "Shipping Sonelise is okay but Shadria is not due to #incest" is certainly a hilarious take, but it needs a little more spice.

"Shadria fans are young and new to the franchise and don't know any better/haven't played SA2" is objectively wrong, in addition to condescending. One glance at early 2000s Sonic fandom soundly puts that notion to bed. And the implication is Shadria fans who choose to ship it deserve harassment, which obviously rubs me the wrong way.

On the other hand, "Shadria is a sign of demonic possession" fucking sends my sides into orbit because are you really going to call Maekawa a Satanist for retweeting cute fanart? 🤣

After awhile of spending time with Arine and Raam, I couldn’t stop thinking about the Legion’s return. While I was in Dalaran when Arine was still in her coma, I met a worgen named “Clovis” who sold... breads, cookies, anything that you would bake. He ended up giving me a box of his cookies for free for my friend and I made promise to him that if the Legion ever attacked Stormwind, I’d make sure to keep his son safe. I don’t know why I made that promise but I intended to keep it. 

So after Raam and I recovered from our previous journey, I made my way back to Stormwind. I felt bad about leaving Arine but I knew she would be safe with Raam. I spent a week there, thinking of how I could fight back against the Legion and more importantly, Arakkazul. The one idea that kept popping up was a group dedicated to taking the fight to the Legion once they arrive. Something small enough to go undetected but big enough to do some serious damage. As much as I love my king, Varian, and the Alliance, they were not efficient when it came to taking out a large threat. So I figured, it might be worth looking into. 

But a week went by and it finally hit my birthday. My birthdays have always been the most unlucky days of my life and this... had to have been the worst birthday I’ve ever had. I went out to Westfall because I assumed if I was gonna have a bad day, I wouldn’t want to be around a bunch of weapons or sharp things. I thought that I finally found a loop hole... Until... The Legion came crashing down. Of course, that day would be the DAMN DAY that the Legion returns. 

I watched as a huge I think Raam called them a “ship” break into the atmosphere and suddenly infernals came crashing down. I aided where I could but I was sadly at the edge of Westfall and it would’ve taken me forever to get to the heart of the attack. I fought off felguard, imps, even a few eredar. But the attack eventually held off. 

After the incident, I reported to Stormwind and instead of tasking me in Westfall with the rest of the foot soldiers, I was told to stay in Stormwind and make sure there was no other threats. I took the time to listen to rumors and I set up a small task force with a rag tag group of adventurers to find out if the rumors were true. We eventually found out that a warlock was summoning in Legion to Elwynn and attempt an attack on Goldshire. I knew we couldn’t let that continue so we dismantled the operation. 

The idea of working with a squad ended up being a big success. While I didn’t exactly like the group I was with due to many of them not being the goodest people, this idea kept festering on. After I checked on Clovis’ son, I began to write up an interview script, set aside some gold for resources, essentially look for ways to create the ultimate group. 

The first real member was originally gonna be Naahil but he told me that he needed to take care of the library. He was very skittish about it too. He later came aboard but the first real member was Peyton Hallowmar. While we did have our differences, I knew having her on board would be perfect because of her history. Then after recruiting her, I was able to somehow get Raam and Arine on board.

Suddenly it was all coming together. When the Broken Isles were revealed to us as the Legion’s main point of attack, we took a boat out there and made our base in some old ruins within the forest of Suramar. I had finally gotten the squad I wanted and we are ready to fight back.

It's the same shit people pull with "Sonelise is beastiality." It was a chaste kiss...a CHASTE. KISS. It was not and never was on the same level of tongue eating in Preboot Archie. Nor was it the intention and context.

Someone having an innocent crush on someone does not mean they want to do the bedroom tango. For antis to claim that Sonamy (at least the bits and teases in canon) is pedo implies that Amy and Sonic - two MINORS - wants to do that ignoring the actual context provided in series.

And now that you mentioned it where was this Pedo argument with Knuxouge and Shadouge? Rouge is canonically 18 - two years older than Knuckles; and Shadow is a middle aged man forever trapped in a teenage body. Yet I have NEVER heard such argument against those ships compared to Sonamy.

God, were these people dropped on their heads a lot when they were babies, or did they just born stupid?

Reasons why this argument is dumb as it is false:

A) They are both underage AND fictional characters. The idea that this is equated with an unspeakable crime for which not enough words exist to condemn is something that undermines the real world victims. You are essentially minimizing their pain and trauma over the most trivial of things for fucks sake!

B) The relation between Sonic and Amy is that of a girl with a (very sincere) crush and a boy who panics / is shy / acts awkward because as per word of GOD, he literally cannot process the idea of romance because his heart is still that of a child. It will never go beyond this point yet that doesn’t mean it will not be teased, much to my enjoyment.

C) Sega of Japan and Sonic Team have standards and respect for their characters. They would never put them in situations of adult nature. Even when Amy does get to kiss Sonic, it’s always on his cheeks, never on his mouth… Unlike the vulgar display of saliva swapping Archie proudly shove on fans throats with their shameless Sonally pandering. They aren’t like that comic either were Sonic was to get cucked by a 20-something Pepe le Pew ripoff who has sexual intercourse with the underage squirrel in an untold story.

I still think about Sonic's reaction to witnessing Elise die on the egg carrier.

His brow goes up, and he reaches a hand out to her in desperation

Then it slowly settles in that she's really gone, and he's devastated. Elise, someone he had a close bond with and was implied to have feelings for, just died in front of him. He was too late.

He slams a fist to the ground in frusteration, regretting not being able to save her in time

Then he trembles and clentches his fists, looking defeated. He almost seems close to crying here.

1. Sonic has the sapience to consent

2. It's not rooted in sex esp since both parties are minors

3. Some of these same people who claim such ALSO happen to ship Shadow x Maria who are anthro/human, have an age gap of three~four years and canonically were siblings (but they change Maria into an hedgehog 😒)

Antis would literally pull any real world trauma/aspects to try to justify their dislike while excusing other ships that arguably have the same thing.

Always notice how some fandoms pick and choose? Some of the people who try to argue Sonamy is incest and pedo also ship Blaze/Silver (despite Sega confirming that they have a sibling-like relationship,) or they ship Knuckles/Rouge (Knuckles being a minor where Rouge is an legal adult) it's fine to dislike certain ships but people need to stop making up ''moral'' obligations to try to shame other shippers because then a lot of these are ''wrong''
