Edit because I’m a fuckin moron that forgot the Soul-Mate Aus for Little Fortune. Sorry about that.

Alright so sorry about this, I swear I’m halfway through the first Chapter for both Run Boy Run and New Beginnings. But anyway here we are, these are the 14 stories I’m working on, and yes I am well aware that it’s not a good Idea but fuck it, I’m havin’ fun so Anyway. These are the title’s and they will have Descriptions of who is in it and what the Au is and also, yes all of them have soul-mate Au's (y'all couldn’t even rip this from my cold dead hands) many of them are different ones from each other. (Also each of them are embodiment's of something for each other which will be explain at the bottom) Also some of these are inspired by or have parts that are inspired by @oh-itskitkat and I’ll put Links to the ones that Inspired what and if they inspired the story are something that will happen in the story. 6. Family Against All

Scp au type thing (I’m using what information my brain can retain but I know alot of it is inaccurate, please don’t hate me).

Liru is a lot shyer and quieter in this one. She is avoiding the SCP Foundation heavily because they are looking for her after an incident where she lost temporary control of her abilities which had caused a temporary rift in the fabric of reality. Mark and Jack are still YouTubers in this and Chase is too.

Liru will find the more innocent or even objects of SCP's and take them home. She also has some that the SCP foundation hasn't discovered.

Henrik doesn't tell his brothers where he works. He tells them he's a doctor though and leaves it at that.

His first chapter will him discovering Anti and just straight up Freezing in his tracks because that's his little brother. And he doesn't know why he knows or knows how he knows he just does. and repeat for Jameson, and Marvin and Jackie(but they're older siblings except JJ of course) And when he discovers Robbie he nearly loses his shit but manages to keep it together because Holy Shit Thats A Child.

He's never met them before. And now he has to figure out why he knows them before anyone else can figure out that they aren't doppelgangers or something and has to figure out why there is a 6 year old child that never talks but when he does he's screaming for his mom.

7. A Burning Soul

It's a Hero x Villains Au, Jackie is the "Hero"(unknowingly works for the bad guy) and Liru, Celine and Yancy are the "Villains" who are in a polyamorous relationship and are trying to get Jackie to switch to there side so he can be protected. A bit more insight is that Jackie was threatened with the safety of someone close to him to be a "Hero" and the other "Hero's" He works with are there to keep him on a leash. While Celine, Liru and Yancy(mostly Liru because she's the one he interacts with the most) Try their best to convince him to join them so they can help him.

Soul-Mate Au: Where you have a splotch of color of your soul-mates soul where your soul-mate touches you skin to skin for the first time. It burns when touched for the first time so there's no missing it. It will only stop burning when you accept your Soul-Mate.

8. A Chase Down the Rabbit Hole

This started because of the one-shot I made for Chases birthday and now it’s gonna be a story. I can’t really tell much without spoiling a lot of it so here are the characters in it and the soul-mate au.

9. Death and Her Soulmates

Alright so the first one is Gonna be Called Death and then whatever soulmate is in it. It's all connected to one story though but they come in one-shots. For instance Liru and Remus would be "Death and Green Sword" or if it's Liru and Roman It's "Death and the Red Shield". Anti and her would be "Death and the Angel" or her and JJ would be "Death and the Master of Time". Robbie and her would be "Death and the Lavender Boy" (every time I see the words Lavender boy my mind sings it to the tune of "Calendar girl") Thomas and her would be "Death and the Rainbow Heart" and the ones that don’t Involve her Would be “The Lightning bug and The Angel”(Jack and Anti) The entire character List is in the story.

Soul-Mate Au’s:

2. The ability to send gifts to your soul-mate/s once a year (You choose something and it appears to them but nothing “living”)

10. Sacred Motives

Alright so for what led up to “You got your ass handed to you by” “a man in a cat mask, yes!”. Marvin was getting an Artifact back that belongs to JJ that humans have taken. It's not the only artifact as well. Humans had raided a sacred place, where a bunch of important artifacts were and they stole, which now they are trying to get back. And they’re gonna get more than they expected.

1. You can see numbers over your soul-mate’s/soulmates’ heads indicating how dangerous they are 1-100 anything higher than 100 is “Most-likely” Inhuman. The number is in their favorite color and their hand writing.

11. Little Fortune

So the best way I can explain it is that It started with Anti meeting Liru at a Park and because he had nothing better to do he just kinda sat and talked with her and after that they just kept meeting up Until Anti actually takes her on a Date one night. She gets into a fight with her Acquaintance on the phone(she's visiting Brighton for work) So Anti invites her over so she doesn't have to go back to the hotel room(I should mention that they are ego's in this) So the go back to the Septic house and she stays the night(nothing dirty happens don’t worry) And the others wake up before Anti and Liru and notice that there are heels by the front door so of course they rush up to Anti's room only to see them both Dead asleep on his bed just cuddling(Anti's the little spoon). They freeze at the sight and due to both the door slamming open and the light bleeding in they both wake up. After an explanation and a near attempted murder on Anti's part they let her stay for the time being and despite the fact that they were supposed to erase the memories of anyone who finds out about them they don't because they see the way she reins in Anti before he can even start. And over the months she keeps visiting and they all begin to notice something is a bit strange about her. And on top of that they have to juggle trying not to let Jack find out about her and trying to ignore the feelings that they gain for her(can't wait to write those parts:) ). And the thing is Liru doesn't even notice something is off about her but Anti does and just assumes she knows and thinks that she'll tell him when she's ready. And more often than not she is seen at their house even when she goes back to Oregon, Anti just keeps bringing her over via teleportation.

12. Songs of the Lost Souls

It's kinda a Hero and Villain x "Civilian" type things and it's Jackie and Anti but the others are also into her(Liru) The Characters in this are Jackie, Angus( the survival Hunter) Marvin, Jacques(the french "ego" from passepartout), Henrik, Chase, Jack, Anti, Shawn Flynn, JJ and S34N(he's an android "underdevelopment"(he was considered to be to human) who Anti accidentally saved).

This takes place in some random metropolis that Liru Moved to to get away from a rather bad past. She's friends with Jacques, Shawn and Sam(S34N) and they Helped her get a rather expensive apartment that she doesn’t need to pay because Jacques already has(“To help a fellow painter out.” “Jacques I Will throw you off this balcony. WHY?!”) Jacques, Shawn and Sam are all types of Artists, Jacques is a rather Famous Painter, Shawn is a hand drawn animation artist. Sam is a sculptor.

Liru’s Older brothers are Roman and Remus and they live in Florida with Roman’s husbands and their three adopted children but they came from Oregon. The reason why Jacques paid for her apartment is because he wanted to help her out of her bad situation despite the fact he knew virtually nothing about it. So the story starts a few days after she moves into the apartment. Also I should mention that Marvin helps out Jackie in his fights against Anti when Anti is particularly aggressive.

Soul-Mate Au’s:

1. When you and your soul-mate touch for the first time, what your song together is will be written on your body with your’s and your soul-mates handwriting and favorite color. And it doesn’t matter how small it is or if it’s in a different language you can always understand it.

2. When your soul-mate is singing you can’t get the song they’re singing out of your head.

3. When the two soul-mates finally sing their song together that their souls essentially connect to each-other finally and it allows them to gain certain abilities they have. Like in a human sense if one could speak Spanish and the other couldn't and when they sing their song together for the first time the person who couldn't speak Spanish now can but not as well as the original. And say the one that couldn’t speak Spanish was really flexible but the Spanish speaker wasn't so when they sing together for the first time the Spanish speaking one becomes somewhat flexible.

13. Soul Pack

(Harry Potter au sorta it doesn’t take place in his time) I do not have a description for this so when It comes out I hope you’ll enjoy it.

Characters: Everyone, every single one of them will wind up in it.

Soul-Mate Au’s:

1. Telepathic Connection since birth but gets stronger the more you know your Soul-Mate.

2. Whatever you write on your skin appears on your Soulmate’s/Soulmates’.

14. For The Divine

It's Kinda different from the others. This one is where Liru, Roman and Remus start out as humans and the others are Gods or Divine beings whatever you wanna call them. And the others are looking for the last pieces of themselves(aka soulmates). And eventually they one by one begin to stumble upon Either, Roman, Remus or Liru.

With Roman, Remus and Liru. Roman and Remus are Liru's Legal Guardians (although she is 21 in this, they're 34 though they don't look it, just like Thomas doesn't look like he's thirty in real life.) Roman, Remus and Liru inherited everything that they're family owned after they all mysteriously died off,(Remus killed them but Roman doesn't know but he suspects but he never said anything because that is A. his brother and B. He thought they deserved it as well(they did) Liru knows because she remembers him telling her that they ever laid a hand on her he's kill them all(He did) and she never said anything because she knew that they deserved it as well. and this was when Roman and Remus were 19.

They both quickly adopted Liru before they could put her in the system and when Liru was in school one day and a teacher made a horrible remark about her brothers taking her in, she mentioned it "Offhandedly" to Roman where Remus would hear. And the next day when Roman and Remus(for the sake of appearances) went to go talk to the teacher about it, the teacher had already been murdered the night before by some of Remus' "Friends". Roman is both a Fashion Designer and Model, Remus is a Painter, Liru is a Fashion Designer(Both Roman and Remus model for her when she needs help figuring out what to do with it) and Painter, she also makes jewelry and Masks to go with her and Romans designs. They all base their outfits/paintings/statues around the animals that represent there Soulmates.

Characters: All of them Minus Jaym and Katie.

Soul-Mate Au’s:

1. You have an animal(or in their cases, animals) that represent your soulmate/s

2. Gained Telepathic Link through getting to know your Soulmate. The more you know and trust them, the stronger the Link and the more control you have over it.

Alright now for the embodiment thing.

So I was Originally Only gonna do it for the Sanders but It just bleed over into the others. But anyway so it's essentially that they are an embodiment of certain things for there soul-mates For example, Logan Is Logic (so when any of them actually stop and think instead of diving right in Logan can tell) or Anti is Curiosity (for instance if on of the were to notice something they are unfamiliar with and they can't help but investigate Anti can tell) Or Robbie is Child-Like Wonder like the feeling you get when your a kid and you see presents under the tree on Christmas morning or Like that one Here Be Dragons from that SCP Unity episode Mark did. Robbie can feel when they feel that but at the same time it doesn't necessarily mean that they have to be a feeling or something you use. For instance Damien is the Embodiment of the Day and he can get a sense of where is soulmates are and whether or not they are in danger.

The Paranormal and the Sitcom: A So Weird & Girl Meets World Crossover Essay

Introduction

From 1999 to 2001, Zoog Disney aired a paranormal show named So Weird, the Disney version of the X-Files. Micheal Jacobs revived Boy Meets World with a continuation called Girl Meets World. On the surface So Weird and Girl Meets World have nothing in common. The former show filmed in Canada, the latter was filmed in California. Cooksney and Jacobs couldn't be more different, Jacobs is known for comedic sitcoms like My Two Dads, John Astole and producer Jon Cooksney, focused on speculative fiction. Astole worked on Stargate, and the 1980s Twilight Zone revivals. Disney Channel hosting their television shows is their only commonalities so far. What made these programs successful was pushing Disney's Astole limits on what considered acceptable. As a result, So Weird was the darkest show Disney Channel aired where Girl Meets World was one of the smarter television shows of modern Disney Channel. Audiences don't think of Disney tackling death acceptance, religion, or feminism

Fiona "Fi" Philips (Cara DeLizia) along with her older brother Jack, join their mother Molly Phillips (Makenzie (Phillips) on her comeback tour. Having a Rockstar mom isn't easy, especially when evil spirits begin stalking Fiona. When Annie (Alexz Johnson) arrives a paranormal panther follows suit. Riley Matthews (Rowen Blanchard) along with her best friend Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) continue the lessons her father learned almost Boy Meets World. At six years old I loved stories about hauntings and dark creatures, so, So Weird naturally appealed to me. Nostalgia over Boy Meets World influenced my decision to watch its sequel and the quality of it surprised me. This cross-over essay's purpose is dissecting these shows popularity and their similarities rather than their differences.

Surface Similarities & Differences

At the surface level SW and GMW's similarities are minor., Fi Phillips and Riley Matthews are our brunette primary protagonists; Annie Thelon and Maya Hart are our blonde secondary protagonists. Fandoms hated Annie and Riley because they interfered with the fandoms' favorites then subsequently blamed for the lackluster third seasons. Celebrities Carpenter and Johnzon used their shows as advertisement for their music careers. Actually Disney gave Carpenter a record deal before casting her as Maya. Carpenter is talented but still sounds like a Disney pop star, however, Johnson has more experience. SW had better music because there was a larger variety of genres like Rock, Pop, Blues, and Celtic music. SW alluded to Celtic and Greek mythology like changelings and sirens. GMW alluded to BMW and nothing else like Cory and Shawn's jellybean scene. Both shows had actors who appeared in crime shows including Carpenter and Eric von Detten.*1

What else SW and GMW had in common was that they had realistic friendships and family dynamics. Friendships weren't used as problem-solving devices but to deepen the characters. Jack (Patrick Lewis) and Clu (Eric von Detten) hung out because they wanted to not because the plot required them to. Parents were written as people. Molly struggled with widowhood and had goals outside of being a mother. Irene felt inferior to her younger sister and Ned Bell was a biker before he married Irene. In addition, Cory taught History yet offered fatherly advice to his daughter and her friends. Single mother, Katy, struggled with her part-time job and caring for Maya. As siblings, Jack/Fi and Riley/Auggie neither fought constantly nor always got along. 'Singularity' Jack and Fi do nothing but argue but in 'Medium' Jack uses "colourful language" when a psychic angers Fi. In GMW, Riley and Auggie argued in 'Forgiveness' then have a touching moment in 'Christmas Maya.' When writing only children Jacobs and Astole never relied on only child stereotypes instead showing the complexity of being one. Not to mention, as an only child myself, I loved this. Maya and Annie weren't spoiled were confused over siblings concepts, like sharing. Trapped in endless detention, Annie's confused by Jack standoffishness finding out that he falsely believes that Annie's replacing his sister. After assuring him that was never her intention, she and Jack become friends. Likewise, Maya confuses Rucas' (Riley/ Lucas) relationship with that of a brother-sister one because she doesn't understand how siblings act. Siblings are loving and friendly but also bicker like Lucaya (Maya/Lucas). Eventually, they develop sibling dynamics with other characters, Annie/Jack and Maya/Lucas.

Neither show's focus was on romance. SW focused on family while GMW focused on friendship and love interests didn't appear in more than one episode. Jack's girlfriend, Gabe, appeared in 'Angel.' Ryan was Fi's first kiss in 'Second Generation' and GMW had two date episodes. 'Brother' was about Cory and Topanga's date night; 'First Date' was about Lucas and Riley first kiss. If romance wasn't plot important then why did GMW develop a shipping war while SW was immune to such disputes? In comparison to GMW, SW had limited couple options meaning there weren't many options before couples became slash or incestuous Those options are: Annie and Fi with either Clu or Carrey. GMW avoids this pitfall with a diverse amount of characters but started shipping wars by introducing the leads and love interest simultaneously. Fanon favourites were Jack/Annie, Carrey/Molly, Lucas/Maya despite the intended couples are Cory/Topanga, Riley/Lucas, and Fi/Clu.

Why did Anti-Annie fans hate her less than Anti-Riley fans? Again, the fandom hated Riley more because of differences in character casting. If a Jerkass character is among the main cast the fandom automatically absolves them, giving their retribution to the kinder characters. Maya's the "broken bird" so fans will prefer her and discount Riley giving fans reason to pair Maya in a love-hate romance. For extra information on this, TvTropes offers an analysis using Nickelodeon television as examples. SW main characters aren't jerkasses toward their friends meaning Annie gets less hate and Friend-Lovers are on equal levels with Love-Hate ones.

Seekers: Fiona & Riley

Seekers of the 12 Archetypes are constantly searching for expanded knowledge of the world at large or themselves. Riley and Fi want to understand other people's perspectives in a worldly sense (Riley) and supernaturally (Fi). However both are open-minded toward unproven phenomenon as opposed to our blond protagonists who rather "go with the flow." Also as the primary protagonists they possess the most contradictions of their worlds. Fi's an amateur parapsychologist but wants a normal life to protect her family. ('Lightening Rod') Fi is a computer geek struggling academically but loves learning new subjects ('Tulpa', 'Escape', 'Vampire'). In comparison, Riley succeeds with her schoolwork but is naïve to the world around her. ('Pluto') She insecure often becoming victim to peer pressure but craves uniqueness away from her peers ('Popular', 'Jexica') Riley and Annie love feminine hobbies – makeup and shopping – but love masculine pursuits too. Both of them love the outdoors, athletics, but are terrible at sports. ('Ski Lodge' in GMW and 'Sacrifice' in SW) Riley can't make the cheerleading team but loves basketball; Fi fails at baseball but tries appreciates the sport. ('Singularity', 'Rah Rah') Contradictions make them rounded characters but causes internal conflict when they attempt to form a stable Ego.

Upon waking up in the middle of the night, Riley eavesdrops on her parents where she doubts if she's good enough compared to her parents. After all Topanga is a successful lawyer, Cory is a successful teacher, and have a perfect fairytale love. ('Cory & Topanga') Unable to connect with her father, Rick, Fi seeks resemblances between herself and him. Just like Riley's atelphobia, Fi feels disconnected from her family because of her paranormal interests. An example is 'Strange Geometry' where Fi feels betrayed that her mother kept Rick obsession a secret. Since Lucas doesn't differentiate between Riley and Maya during the love triangle, Riley further doubts her worth as a girlfriend. In the pilot and a deleted 'Upstate' scene, Riley molds herself into Maya so she'll have an identity. Constant identity searching is another aspect of the Seeker archetype.

Caretaking drives our protagonists to seek out the world's answers. Fi wants closure with her father yet her investigations aren't just for her benefit, but for the benefits of her loved ones. Molly's friends Rebecca left when she was Fi's age, thus Fi confronts Rebecca's "daughter" so Molly will have some closure of her own. Reluctantly, Fi leads the two of them to Rebecca's house where history repeated itself again; Rebecca's family disappeared again leaving Molly more betrayed and confused. 'In Forgiveness' Riley back talks to Kermit wanting answers as to why he left her best friend when she was younger. Town members become annoyed by Fi when she forces them to remember the alien invasion the day before. ('Memory') Fi helps a coma girl's mother and grandmother with technology to revive the girl from her coma even though these people are strangers to her. ('Lost') Riley invades her friends' boundaries so Maya will have hope ('Master Plan'), tries jumping into a bull pen to save Lucas ('Texas'), and keeps her friends in a stairwell so they'll reflect on their surroundings ('High School'). Fi challenges Bricriu to hangman so he'll stop possessing her brother. ('Will-o-Wisp') Riley gives up her relationship with Shawn, her godfather, so Maya will have a father. She forgets her affections for Lucas so Maya will have a chance at love. ('Texas', 'New Years') Occasionally their actions cause annoyance among their friends but its for the greater good. Sacrificing one's own desires is the key component in the Caretaker's goal.

Creators: Annie & Maya

Creators turn illusion into reality and similar to Seekers, Creators are invested self-identity and possibilities. When we're introduced to Annie and Maya both are immediately drawn to creative fields. By the ending of 'Lightening Rod', Annie confides in Fi that she's always had an eerie connection to music and find inspiration from something as insignificant as a stick. Furthermore, Mr and Mrs Thelon inform Molly that Annie has the ability to master most any instrument. 'In the Darkness', the theme song, shows Annie playing as well as popular instruments like the guitar. Maya gained that same artistic guidance from the stars or a paint war. ('Meets Boy', 'Upstate', 'Maya's Mother'). Partly due to Carpenter portrays her, Maya masters singing and guitar quite easily. ('1961', 'Creativity') An added bonus to Annie's is that they act as retrocognition from her past.

Both blondes quickly give up old lifestyles for chances at an art or singing career. For example, Annie's ecstatic she'll join Molly's band on tour, granted her parents reason this is so Annie will have a normal and balanced life. ('Lightening Rod') Impulsive, Future Maya leaps at the opportunity when she receives a SoHo gallery internship. ('Bay Window') Creators share the fear of not having an identity. When a recording agent steals Annie's voice and likewise when the art teacher grades Maya's painting as incomplete, the girls doubt their self-worth. In 'Carnival' Annie's reflections mock her abilities when she rescues her friends from an evil ringmaster. Season one Maya wonders if Riley was right and Maya's troubled past is responsible for her artistic ability. What's more is that the Creator archetype gives the character a dangerous duality; either they're practical with their art or they drown themselves in their disillusion. Which is why the Orphan archetype lurks beneath the Creator.

The Thelons and Hart families are alive but their actions produce an orphan effect on their daughters. Traveling across the globe before the So Weird eventsprohibitedestablishing permanent roots somewhere. Kermit's physical abandonment compounded with Katy's emotional abandonment ensured that Maya wouldn't have a support system. Although being an only child isn't problematic, not having someone to depend on made connecting with others difficult. Neither would form a real connection until they made surrogate families out of the Phillips and Matthews families. Its not surprising their friends would find them selfish at times.

Death Acceptance

The major difference between Cooksney and Jacobs is Cooskney never intended lessons for So Weird whereas Jacobs' moralizing hindered character development on Girl Meets World. Jacobs's lesson was the vague statement, "People Change People" I'd argue his actual moral is not taking people for instead. Cooksney's moral, if you could consider it one, was sacrifice. Fi gets lost camping and sacrifices immediate help to save Big Foot. ('Sacrifice') Barring those morals, the writers over-arcing themes of both were acceptance. SW's primary theme was death acceptance for the Phillips and Matthews family with the minor theme of childhood acceptance Annie) and Maya. All stories lead back to sex and death, Disney's not going to discuss sexuality, but death resounds through every film since Disney's inception. Also no SW or GMW character was exempt from death confrontation. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross's Five Stages of Grief: Anger, Sadness, Denial, Bargaining, and Acceptance aren't linear and one may never gain acceptance. All the characters are stuck in one of the stages and only Fi gains acceptance.

Earnest Becker's seven reasons why people fear death are as followed:

1. Fear of pain

2. Fear of not knowing what becomes of our bodies

3. How our dependents will manage after our death

4. How our loved ones will cope emotionally after our death

5. Fear of an afterlife, such as eternal oblivion, or Heaven/Hell

6. Fear of dying with an unlived life

7. Fear of dying with uncompleted projects

Thantophobia is why humans behave the way they do. Rick's untimely death when Fi was three-years-old affected her because she has no memories of her father. She often resented her brother and mother because they knew him and she did not. Rick/Fi's shared fear is emotionally coping of his death. Maya struggled with coping with the metaphorical death of her father, possibly thinking he's dead to her. Kermit intentionally abandoned his family, whereas Rick intended on returning to his family, but he didn't plan on evil spirits murdering him. Fi and Maya are stuck in the anger phase of grieving. When her grandfather is visited by a banshee, Fi tracks the creature down and asks Death personified the fairness in taking her father away from her. Death responds that it will even the imbalance by extending her grandfather's life for a time. But for seasons 1 and 2 Fi copes with death by actively seeking the paranormal afterlife to escape and accept death.

Jack's death phobia is similar to Fi's except he fears losing his sister and mother like he lost his father; his nightmare is a manifestation of that fear. In the midst of gang's lucid dream, Jack leaves them for a method to awaken from the dream but is transported to the night of Rick's. Dream Rick promises he'll return, but knowing the future Jack chases after his father. Fear trapped Jack in Grief's denial stage subsequently causing his resentment of the paranormal his dad loved so much. And it's not until 'Changeling' when Jack accepts his dad's death when he starts singing again. Surprised, Clu comments that Jack hadn't sung since Rick died. Jack responds with, "Well, maybe it's time I started again."

Minor episodes such as 'Fall' (SW) and 'Gravity' (GMW) discuss death on a smaller scale. 'Fall' details Ned and his childhood friend, Sam, on the death anniversary of their other friend's drowning. Haunted by the memory, Sam is literally haunted by Pete's ghost leading to Pete's recent. The men's responses to death are vastly different; Ned would rather forget Pete's death and Sam tries to confront it. Both are part of the grieving sequence but overall, 'Fall' discuses the myriad of complex emotions after death. Childhood deaths are rightly considered "Bad Deaths" whether or not loved ones are complicit with the death, we often feel that we could've prevented it. Sam is stuck in the bargaining and grieving stages before he can move on. As the men relive that fateful day admits he was scared of dying and can finally accept death now. In 'Gravity' the teens are crushed when a beloved bakery owner dies leaving the bakery to Topanga. The episode ends with Auggie opening his gift with a note reading "It's not My-Kranian bakery, I'm dead." Cory phones telling him that he is glad Feeney isn't dead, perhaps this was an allusion to 'I Dream of Feeney' when Cory wished him ill. Riley gives the eulogy and everyone learns to cherish their loved ones while they're alive.

Next is Molly and her death phobia in the series. Molly's emotions toward her husband are erratic in all three seasons. It's been over a decade since Rick's death and she still hasn't accepted it. In the Christmas episode 'Fountain' Molly admits to a young Fi that her loss bothers her. In 'Medium' Molly began to resent Rick's memory because she felt haunted by him wishing that she could forget him. Molly misses being a lover but is guilt-ridden because she feels like she is betraying her husband. ('Fathom') And in season 3's 'Muse,' Molly and the band travel to the town of their first concert to recapture the inspiration she felt there. Molly never gains acceptance over death and I loved that this option was shown as well. Not everything is wrapped up in a happy ending.

The final lesson is accepting your own death. Self-death may be literal like the episodes 'Rebecca', 'James Garr', 'Angel' or 'Grave Mistake'. Or death can be metaphorical like Riley becoming new personas, Maya losing herself, or the death of love. The former episodes dealt with the concept of immortality and coming to terms with one's final moments. Fi investigates a girl claiming to be Rebecca's daughter in truth, she's Rebecca herself. Amazed at how much this immortal girl knows and has seen in her years, Rebecca refutes this saying that she hates her immortality. She can never marry, she had to leave Molly, her only friend, behind. Who wants to live forever? 'James Garr' is about the titular character undergo cryonic preservation as a cancer cure. The procedure's successful, but James Gar hasn't a soul anymore with this realization he gives his life to an elderly patient Jack met. In the subplot that elderly man dying of cancer beleives that whenever death comes for him he will greet death with willingness and bravery. James Garr realizing his hollow life switch places with the man so he can live a little longer. 'Grave Mistake' is about a family friend of the family who's been receiving death threats and runs to Annie and the Phillips for help. With Annie's guidance, the woman discovers her dead husband wrote "You're dead" so that she'd remember she died. It's rare that a children's show relays the message that death isn't ominous, it's part of life.

During an interview Cooksney admitted that if Disney had allowed them to, Fi would descend into Hell to rescue her father's soul.*2 Jack would have discovered his past life as a Celtic knight who begged that his next incarnation would be as Fi's older brother. Moreover, it explains that dragon's fear of Jack in 'Strangling' and aside from familial bonds, knight life explains his overprotection of him mom from a mermaid siren. ('Fathom') A tenet of the Order of the Good Death's death positivity is "I believe that my open, honest advocacy around death can make a difference, and can change culture." Cooksney probably didn't intend for SW to have so much death focus but it's applicable to the show.

'Yearbook', 'Triangle', and 'Ski Lodge' are examples of metaphorical death. Whenever Riley embraces different personas, she's undergoing an Ego Death in an attempt to discover her true self. She becomes a Goth Girl so her classmates visualize her shadow side. Contrary to her masquerade, Riley's shadow side isn't Goth but is a metaphor of her dark side coexisting with her light side. Maya lost herself during her dalliance with Lucas to understand her relationship identity contrasting he singular identity. Later on during the love triangle's conclusion, Riley's first comment is "This love triangle needs to die. Nature knows that it needs to die." Of all her friends Riley mentions death the most, examples are 'Yearbook', 'Gravity', and 'Pluto.' Continuing with this death theme involve the teenagers' fantasies as a metaphor for the death of their romance. During their respective daydreams, Riley and Maya inform each other that their dream romance isn't reality. In Dream Riley's fantasy she dies, in essence, the girls kill their ego and their romances to grow.

Childhood Acceptance

Transforming themselves from childhood trauma are Annie and Maya's ultimate goals within the series. Annie's panther and Maya's hope are key in reaching their transformations. For this essay portion, I'm using Widow's Walk', 'Pen Pal', and 'Annie's Song.' For Maya's episodes, I'll use are 'World of Terror 3', 'Forgiveness', and 'Goodbye.'

Symbolically the panther represents the death-rebirth cycle and confronting fears. According to Spirit Animal's website, those with the panther guide are blessed with powerful protectors. In addition, panthers indicate supernatural journeys with occult leanings. Therefore her character's introduction served a purpose in So Weird despite being unplanned. Finally as Annie's panther endows her with strength to confront any obstacle before her.

'Widow's Walk' acts as a transition between death acceptance into childhood acceptance. Tired of her age limiting her privileges Annie swaps ages with an elderly woman. Shocked by her transformation she finds a bottled message from the woman's husband. Desperate for her youth back Annie begs the woman to reverse their ages. Selfishly, the woman refuses due to her thinking that her husband's waiting for her at home not realizing he died in sea storm that turned the woman into a widow. Growing weaker daily Annie knows if she can't convince the woman of the truth she will die. When Annie feints in an attempt to reach the woman and true to its nature, Annie's panther appears at her side giving her strength to continue on. Obviously Annie's successful getting her age back. What's interesting are the contradictions between the elderly woman and Annie. Both characters fear death desperately clinging to life, but Annie's aware of death while the woman would rather delude herself of human mortality. At the climax the women's remorseful of her selfishness wishing she knew how to reverse her wish. Annie's regrets her wish understanding living in the present is better than living in living in the future.

Similarly 'World of Terror' along with 'Pen Pal' shows the girls' adolescence if their positive influences were absent in their lives. By befriending Jennifer and not meeting Riley, Annie and Maya become rebellious Goths. Maya no longer believes that she deserves good things; Annie pushes her friends away. Following this change, Alternate Annie's panther is a worthless tattoo, Alternate Maya begins bulling Riley for not letting her in her bedroom. . Deprived of hope or understanding our alternates protagonists cannot accept their pasts. Being Disney, these girls defeat their alternates. Annie through using her panther power, Maya through befriending Riley in the parallel universe.

These last three deal with Maya and Annie discovering the truth and making amends with their childhoods. In 'Forgiveness' Maya writes and letter to her father, Kermit, in an attempt to forgive him as part of Cory's homework assignment. That following day Kermit returns to town hoping what his daughter said in her letter was true. Unable to forgive Kermit, he leaves once more reducing Maya to tears. As a result Maya realizes she's forgiven herself for believing she had caused Kermit's departure. By forgiving herself, Maya's ability to accept her past and find a new father figure in Shawn Hunter when he adopts her in 'Goodbye.'

In the penultimate episode the characters travel to a Native American reservation as a break from touring. Unlike her friends Annie can't enjoy her day off with strange flashbacks coming to mind. Coyote possesses the tribe's leader when a little girl becomes lost in the forest, forcing Annie to remember her childhood memories. Years earlier the Thelon family visited a jungle for a research assignment, little Annie awakens before her parents do and wanders into the forests. She happens across a petrified tribal man and it's only when a poisonous snake attacks her she realizes the danger she's in. As her parents discover their daughter's disappeared, the man rushes her to his village in an attempt to save her life. With shaman magic, the man's father removes the venom and takes Annie to a location where her parents will find her. Grateful Annie sacrificed her life to save his son, the father promises to protect her all her life in the form of a panther. With full understanding of her childhood, Annie manages to accept her past as Maya did.

Conclusion

Girl Meets World and So Weird are different shows catering to wildly different audiences. Still, each character follows similar archetypes as well as themes people wouldn't expect of Disney Channel to allow on their network. More importantly, the fact that it does shows its capability to portray mature, darker subject matters for all audiences. Readers may disagree with my argument but these are shows the current generation should watch. Girl Meets World is a television show that my generation should watch. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my essay and I would love it if you gave me your opinions on each program, as well.

Frollo damns Esmerelda to Hell if he can't possess her and little mentions God and Satan. (Hunchback of Notre Dame) CoCo takes place primarily in the afterlife. Disney Channel could've done a Hell episode.

Does Michael Jacobs realize how bad the continuity on Boy Meets World 🌎 is? First there are three versions of the story on how Cory and Topanga fell for each other. I thought they liked each other after the awkward puberty video that everyone watches in 5th or 6th grade, then Cory knew he loved her when catching fire flies at six, then I loved you since I was two. Then the issue of how Shawn met Cory and Topanga . In one episode they said they have been friends since kindergarten, another episode said they met at 8 years old but in another episode Feeny and him are sharing a memory about Cory and Topanga in preschool. One actor played three different characters. Then Topanga had a sister named Nebula never saw her again and not mention the fact she five actors play her parents. three actors for the dad, and two actresses to the mom and even weirder her mom went by two different names. Rihannon and Chloe. Then where in the hell is Aunt Prudence I mean she was the one who let Topanga live with her so that Topanga could finish out her school year. Then there is the fact Shawn had a half or Full sister named Susan who was giving advice on how to relax Cory’s hair but she was a one off, then Shawn’s half brother Eddie who was a thug and almost beat up Cory but never mentioned again and the only brother to stay was Jack. Eric was a tutor in the first two seasons then got stupid. The actor for Angela’s dad appeared as one of Shawn’s professors. Stewart Minkus disappeared for five seasons but suddenly reappears at graduation and even got more ’ time on GMW than Angela. Shawnangela was so beautiful for so many reasons and not just because it was an interracial couple, but they dealt with real adult problems. Shawn was the one to push Angela away because he had abandonment issue but season 7 tried to frame it the other way around. Cory was the one who wanted to be friends with her I mean he followed her into the cowhand locker room and shared a seceret between them. He was the one pushing for this relationship and he was the one talking her up the most everybody was. I was just rewatching the scene where Cory and Angela were holding hands, they kissed and even cuddled. None of it meant nothing but still you don’t cuddle with aquaintinces. Cory and Angela had an underrated friendship and to think it gets thrown out the window because two white women needed to be pleased? Katy and Maya both come off looking like they cannot function without some man in their lives. Another thing Angela was the Maid of Honor for Cory and Topanga’s wedding 👰🏽 🎩 and is Michael Jacobs telling me there wouldn’t be wedding pictures? They can call Mr. Turner Uncle but they don’t know who Angela is? The other thing I don’t get is how did Jack know who Riley was? I thought Shawn and Jack would grow closer after college and they are half brothers but then again I am not close with my half siblings. Angela was also Topanga’s best friend and roommate for a while. So if BMW can have horrible continuity then Shaty can be erased and be corrected with Shawnangela.

Okay i am posting a link to an interview that Micheal Jacobs did about Shawn and Angela. He implied that they never meshed together and were never meant to end up with each other. I can’t even believe the way that he is discrediting this relationship, especially since he was the one who created them in the first place. If they weren’t meant to be soulmates then why the hell did all the fans believe them to be? This makes no sense. Some feel the reason he is discrediting them is because of Racism. I don’t know the man, have never met the man so i really can’t judge, however i just know that what he said was not cool at all. I’m glad that Girl Meets World got canceled. Shawn ended up with the wrong woman and we all know it. The real fans know the power of Shawn and Angela and we can’t let one man’s ignorance get us down. Shawn and Angela will forever live in my heart and i know they are soul mates and i don’t need Michael Jacobs approval for that.

POLITICS/NEWS

U.S. Coronavirus Numbers

More than 11,695,500 people in the United States have been infected with the coronavirus and at least 251,100 have died.

The number of people who have died from Coronavirus in the U.S. is equivalent to 84 times the number of U.S. citizens who died in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. It is 56 times the number of U.S. soldiers who died in the war against Iraq. It is 7 times the number of U.S. citizens who died from the flu last year.

On Nov. 18: 1,923 deaths (+52% 14-day change), 172,391 infections (+77% 14-day change)

The rates of infection and death remain disproportionately high in the Native American communities across the country. Just last weekend, 600 Native people died on the Navajo reservation.

Sen. Chuck Grassley from Iowa has contracted coronavirus. The nation mourns :-(

Global Coronavirus Numbers

The coronavirus pandemic has sickened more than 56,661,800 people, according to official counts. As of Thursday afternoon, at least 1,355,100 people have died.

On Nov. 18: 11,133 deaths (+13% 14-day change), 598,877 infections (+25% 14-day change)

Election 2020

President-Elect Biden claims that Trump’s refusal to concede the election is preventing him from accessing critical data about the U.S. outbreak and that this could slow the vaccine distribution process.

President-Elect Biden names Cecilia Muñoz as part of his transition team. Muñoz served as a top immigration advisor for Obama, justifying harsh immigration policies, including the deportation of thousands of Central American children and the killing of an executive order that would have halted deportations.

Nancy Pelosi is re-elected as Speaker of the House.

World News

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo toured an illegal Israeli settlement and said he has plans to tour another in the occupied Golan Heights. This violates multiple U.N. resolutions and the Geneva Conventions. He also labelled the B.D.S. movement “anti-Semitic.”

In Central America, at least 30 people have died from Hurricane Iota. About 160,000 Nicaraguans and 70,000 Hondurans were forced to flee from their homes.

The head of the Australian military has apologized to the people of Afghanistan after Australian special forces committed war crimes by killing 39 noncombatants in Afghanistan over the past 4 years.

A nearly three-decade-old ceasefire has ended in occupied Western Sahara — what many consider to be Africa’s last colony. Fighting has broken out in several areas between the Moroccan military and the Polisario Front, the Sahrawi liberation movement seeking independence, after the Moroccan military broke into a no-go buffer zone in southern Western Sahara.

Both of these sentences separately are not true; both of them together are not true.

First of all, Marx has not been an outright advocate for a gender-queer society.

Second of all, I think she’s right. Socialism and gender/queer theory are intertwined in so many ways.

And I think she’s right about this, too. Socialism and gender/queer theory all are an attack on the cis-hetero white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.

“Bring back manly men.“

Okay, this is where I think she’s wrong again.

1) "Manly men” haven’t gone anywhere...

2) Is she basically arguing that a couple of men wearing dresses means every man is no longer “manly?” This makes no sense.

3) In a society, “manly men” can coexist with “feminized” men. There is enough room for everyone. And there will always be men who want to take up the “manly” MANtle. And there will be queer/trans masc people who will want to do the same, though I’m sure Candace would hate that.

So Weird & Girl Meets World Crossover Essay

Introduction

From 1999 to 2001, Zoog Disney aired a paranormal show named So Weird, the Disney version of the X-Files. Micheal Jacobs revived Boy Meets World with a continuation called Girl Meets World. On the surface So Weird and Girl Meets World have nothing in common. The former show filmed in Canada, the latter was filmed in California. Cooksney and Jacobs couldn’t be more different, Jacobs is known for comedic sitcoms like My Two Dads, John Astole and producer Jon Cooksney, focused on speculative fiction. Astole worked on Stargate, and the 1980s Twilight Zone revivals. Disney Channel hosting their television shows is their only commonalities so far. What made these programs successful was pushing Disney’s Astole limits on what considered acceptable. As a result, So Weird was the darkest show Disney Channel aired where Girl Meets World was one of the smarter television shows of modern Disney Channel. Audiences don’t think of Disney tackling death acceptance, religion, or feminism.

Fiona “Fi” Philips (Cara DeLizia) along with her older brother Jack, join their mother Molly Phillips (Makenzie (Phillips) on her comeback tour. Having a Rockstar mom isn’t easy, especially when evil spirits begin stalking Fiona. When Annie (Alexz Johnson) arrives a paranormal panther follows suit. Riley Matthews (Rowen Blanchard) along with her best friend Maya Hart (Sabrina Carpenter) continue the lessons her father learned almost Boy Meets World. At six years old I loved stories about hauntings and dark creatures, so, So Weird naturally appealed to me. Nostalgia over Boy Meets World influenced my decision to watch its sequel and the quality of it surprised me. This cross-over essay’s purpose is dissecting these shows popularity and their similarities rather than their differences.

Surface Similarities & Differences

At the surface level SW and GMW’s similarities are minor., Fi Phillips and Riley Matthews are our brunette primary protagonists; Annie Thelon and Maya Hart are our blonde secondary protagonists. Fandoms hated Annie and Riley because they interfered with the fandoms’ favorites then subsequently blamed for the lackluster third seasons. Celebrities Carpenter and Johnzon used their shows as advertisement for their music careers. Actually Disney gave Carpenter a record deal before casting her as Maya. Carpenter is talented but still sounds like a Disney pop star, however, Johnson has more experience. SW had better music because there was a larger variety of genres like Rock, Pop, Blues, and Celtic music. SW alluded to Celtic and Greek mythology like changelings and sirens. GMW alluded to BMW and nothing else like Cory and Shawn’s jellybean scene. Both shows had actors who appeared in crime shows including Carpenter and Eric von Detten.*1

What else SW and GMW had in common was that they had realistic friendships and family dynamics. Friendships weren’t used as problem solving devises but to deepen the characters. Jack (Patrick Lewis) and Clu (Eric von Detten) hung out because they wanted to not because the plot required them to. Parents were written as people. Molly struggled with widowhood and had goals outside of being a mother. Irene felt inferior to her younger sister and Ned Bell was a biker before he married Irene. In addition, Cory taught History yet offered fatherly advice to his daughter and her friends. Single mother, Katy, struggled with her part-time job and caring for Maya. As siblings, Jack/Fi and Riley/Auggie neither fought constantly nor always got along. ‘Singularity’ Jack and Fi do nothing but argue but in ‘Medium’ Jack uses “colourful language” when a psychic angers Fi. In GMW, Riley and Auggie argued in ‘Forgiveness’ then have a touching moment in ‘Christmas Maya.’ When writing only children Jacobs and Astole never relied on only child stereotypes instead showing the complexity of being one. Not to mention, as an only child myself, I loved this. Maya and Annie weren’t spoiled were confused over siblings concepts, like sharing. Trapped in endless detention, Annie’s confused by Jack standoffishness finding out that he falsely believes that Annie’s replacing his sister. After assuring him that was never her intention, she and Jack become friends. Likewise, Maya confuses Rucas’ (Riley/ Lucas) relationship with that of a brother-sister one because she doesn’t understand how siblings act. Siblings are loving and friendly but also bicker like Lucaya (Maya/Lucas). Eventually they develop sibling dynamics with other characters, Annie/Jack and Maya/Lucas.

Neither show’s focus was on romance. SW focused on family while GMW focused on friendship and love interests didn’t appear in more than one episode. Jack’s girlfriend, Gabe, appeared in ‘Angel.’ Ryan was Fi’s first kiss in ‘Second Generation’ and GMW had two date episodes. ‘Brother’ was about Cory and Topanga’s date night; ‘First Date’ was about Lucas and Riley first kiss. If romance wasn’t plot important then why did GMW develop a shipping war while SW was immune to such disputes? In comparison to GMW, SW had limited couple options meaning there weren’t many options before couples became slash or incestuous Those options are: Annie and Fi with either Clu or Carrey. GMW avoids this pitfall with a diverse amount of characters but started shipping wars by introducing the leads and love interest simultaneously. Fanon favourites were Jack/Annie, Carrey/Molly, Lucas/Maya despite the intended couples are Cory/Topanga, Riley/Lucas, and Fi/Clu.

Why did Anti-Annie fans hate her less than Anti-Riley fans? Again, the fandom hated Riley more because of differences in character casting. If a Jerkass character is among the main cast the fandom automatically absolves them, giving their retribution to the kinder characters. Maya’s the “broken bird” so fans will prefer her and discount Riley giving fans reason to pair Maya in a love-hate romance. For extra information on this, TvTropes offers an analysis using Nickelodeon television as examples. SW main characters aren’t jerkasses toward their friends meaning Annie gets less hate and Friend-Lovers are on equal levels with Love-Hate ones.

Seekers: Fiona & Riley

Seekers of the 12 Archetypes are constantly searching for expanded knowledge of the world at large or themselves. Riley and Fi want to understand other people’s perspectives in a worldly sense (Riley) and supernaturally (Fi). However both are open-minded toward unproven phenomenon as opposed to our blond protagonists who rather “go with the flow.” Also as the primary protagonists they possess the most contradictions of their worlds. Fi’s an amateur parapsychologist but wants a normal life to protect her family. (‘Lightening Rod’) Fi is a computer geek struggling academically but loves learning new subjects (‘Tulpa’, ‘Escape’, ‘Vampire’). In comparison, Riley succeeds with her schoolwork but is naïve to the world around her. (‘Pluto’) She insecure often becoming victim to peer pressure but craves uniqueness away from her peers (‘Popular’, ‘Jexica’) Riley and Annie love feminine hobbies – makeup and shopping – but love masculine pursuits too. Both of them love the outdoors, athletics, but are terrible at sports. (‘Ski Lodge’ in GMW and ‘Sacrifice’ in SW) Riley can’t make the cheerleading team but loves basketball; Fi fails at baseball but tries appreciates the sport. (‘Singularity’, ‘Rah Rah’) Contradictions make them rounded characters but causes internal conflict when they attempt to form a stable Ego.

Upon waking up in the middle of the night, Riley eavesdrops on her parents where she doubts if she’s good enough compared to her parents. After all Topanga is a successful lawyer, Cory is a successful teacher, and have a perfect fairytale love. (‘Cory & Topanga’) Unable to connect with her father, Rick, Fi seeks resemblances between herself and him. Just like Riley’s atelphobia, Fi feels disconnected from her family because of her paranormal interests. An example is ‘Strange Geometry’ where Fi feels betrayed that her mother kept Rick obsession a secret. Since Lucas doesn’t differentiate between Riley and Maya during the love triangle, Riley further doubts her worth as a girlfriend. In the pilot and a deleted ‘Upstate’ scene, Riley molds herself into Maya so she’ll have an identity. Constant identity searching is another aspect of the Seeker archetype.

Caretaking drives our protagonists to seek out the world’s answers. Fi wants closure with her father yet her investigations aren’t just for her benefit, but for the benefits of her loved ones. Molly’s friends Rebecca left when she was Fi’s age, thus Fi confronts Rebecca’s “daughter” so Molly will have some closure of her own. Reluctantly, Fi leads the two of them to Rebecca’s house where history repeated itself again; Rebecca’s family disappeared again leaving Molly more betrayed and confused. ‘In Forgiveness’ Riley backtalks to Kermit wanting answers as to why he left her best friend when she was younger. Town members become annoyed by Fi when she forces them to remember the alien invasion the day before. (‘Memory’) Fi helps a coma girl’s mother and grandmother with technology to revive the girl from her coma even though these people are strangers to her. (‘Lost’) Riley invades her friends’ boundaries so Maya will have hope (‘Master Plan’), tries jumping into a bull pen to save Lucas (‘Texas’), and keeps her friends in a stairwell so they’ll reflect on their surroundings (‘High School’). Fi challenges Bricriu to hangman so he’ll stop possessing her brother. (‘Will-o-Wisp’) Riley gives up her relationship with Shawn, her godfather, so Maya will have a father. She forgets her affections for Lucas so Maya will have a chance at love. (‘Texas’, ‘New Years’) Occasionally their actions cause annoyance among their friends but its for the greater good. Sacrificing one’s own desires is the key component in the Caretaker’s goal.

Creators: Annie & Maya

Creators turn illusion into reality and similar to Seekers, Creators are invested self-identity and possibilities. When we’re introduced to Annie and Maya both are immediately drawn to creative fields. By the ending of ‘Lightening Rod’, Annie confides in Fi that she’s always had an eerie connection to music and find inspiration from something as insignificant as a stick. Furthermore, Mr and Mrs Thelon inform Molly that Annie has the ability to master most any instrument. ‘In the Darkness’, the theme song, shows Annie playing as well as popular instruments like the guitar. Maya gained that same artistic guidance from the stars or a paint war. (‘Meets Boy’, ‘Upstate’, ‘Maya’s Mother’). Partly due to Carpenter portrays her, Maya masters singing and guitar quite easily. (‘1961’, ’Creativity’) An added bonus to Annie’s is that they act as retrocognition from her past.

Both blondes quickly give up old lifestyles for chances at an art or singing career. For example, Annie’s ecstatic she’ll join Molly’s band on tour, granted her parents reason this is so Annie will have a normal and balanced life. (‘Lightening Rod’) Impulsive, Future Maya leaps at the opportunity when she receives a SoHo gallery internship. (‘Bay Window’) Creators share the fear of not having an identity. When a recording agent steals Annie’s voice and likewise when the art teacher grades Maya’s painting as incomplete, the girls doubt their self-worth. In ‘Carnival’ Annie’s reflections mock her abilities when she rescues her friends from an evil ringmaster. Season one Maya wonders if Riley was right and Maya’s troubled past is responsible for her artistic ability. What’s more is that the Creator archetype gives the character a dangerous duality; either they’re practical with their art or they drown themselves in their disillusion. Which is why the Orphan archetype lurks beneath the Creator.

The Thelons and Hart families are alive but their actions produce an orphan effect on their daughters. Traveling across the globe before the So Weird events prohibited establishing permanent roots somewhere. Kermit’s physical abandonment compounded with Katy’s emotional abandonment ensured that Maya wouldn’t have a support system. Although being an only child isn’t problematic, not having someone to depend on made connecting with others difficult. Neither would form a real connection until they made surrogate families out of the Phillips and Matthews families. Its not surprising their friends would find them selfish at times.

Death Acceptance

The major difference between Cooksney and Jacobs is Cooskney never intended lessons for So Weird whereas Jacobs’ moralizing hindered character development on Girl Meets World. Jacobs’s lesson was the vague statement, “People Change People” I’d argue his actual moral is not taking people for instead. Cooksney’s moral, if you could consider it one, was sacrifice. Fi gets lost camping and sacrifices immediate help to save Big Foot. (‘Sacrifice’) Barring those morals, the writers over-arcing themes of both were acceptance. SW’s primary theme was death acceptance for the Phillips and Matthews family with the minor theme of childhood acceptance Annie) and Maya. All stories lead back to sex and death, Disney’s not going to discuss sexuality, but death resounds through every film since Disney’s inception. Also no SW or GMW character was exempt from death confrontation. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross’s Five Stages of Grief: Anger, Sadness, Denial, Bargaining, and Acceptance aren’t linear and one may never gain acceptance. All the characters are stuck in one of the stages and only Fi gains acceptance.

Earnest Becker’s seven reasons why people fear death are as followed:

Fear of pain

Fear of not knowing what becomes of our bodies

How our dependents will manage after our death

How our loved ones will cope emotionally after our death

Fear of an afterlife, such as eternal oblivion, or Heaven/Hell

Fear of dying with an unlived life

Fear of dying with uncompleted projects

Thantophobia is why humans behave the way they do. Rick’s untimely death when Fi was three-years-old affected her because she has no memories of her father. She often resented her brother and mother because they knew him and she did not. Rick/Fi’s shared fear is emotionally coping of his death. Maya struggled with coping with the metaphorical death of her father, possibly thinking he’s dead to her. Kermit intentionally abandoned his family, whereas Rick intended on returning to his family, but he didn’t plan on evil spirits murdering him. Fi and Maya are stuck in the anger phase of grieving. When her grandfather is visited by a banshee, Fi tracks the creature down and asks Death personified the fairness in taking her father away from her. Death responds that it will even the imbalance by extending her grandfather’s life for a time. But for seasons 1 and 2 Fi copes with death by actively seeking the paranormal afterlife to escape and accept death.

Jack’s death phobia is similar to Fi’s except he fears losing his sister and mother like he lost his father; his nightmare is a manifestation of that fear. In the midst of gang’s lucid dream, Jack leaves them for a method to awaken from the dream but is transported to the night of Rick’s. Dream Rick promises he’ll return, but knowing the future Jack chases after his father. Fear trapped Jack in Grief’s denial stage subsequently causing his resentment of the paranormal his dad loved so much. And it’s not until ‘Changeling’ when Jack accepts his dad’s death when he starts singing again. Surprised, Clu comments that Jack hadn’t sung since Rick died. Jack responds with, “Well, maybe it's time I started again.”

Minor episodes such as ‘Fall’ (SW) and ‘Gravity’ (GMW) discuss death on a smaller scale. ‘Fall’ details Ned and his childhood friend, Sam, on the death anniversary of their other friend’s drowning. Haunted by the memory, Sam is literally haunted by Pete’s ghost leading to Pete’s recent. The men’s responses to death are vastly different; Ned would rather forget Pete’s death and Sam tries to confront it. Both are part of the grieving sequence but overall, ‘Fall’ discuses the myriad of complex emotions after death. Childhood deaths are rightly considered “Bad Deaths” whether or not loved ones are complicit with the death, we often feel that we could’ve prevented it. Sam is stuck in the bargaining and grieving stages before he can move on. As the men relive that fateful day admits he was scared of dying and can finally accept death now. In ‘Gravity’ the teens are crushed when a beloved bakery owner dies leaving the bakery to Topanga. The episode ends with Auggie opening his gift with a note reading "It's not My-Kranian bakery, I'm dead." Cory phones Mr.Feeney telling him that he is glad Feeney isn’t dead, perhaps this was an allusion to ‘I Dream of Feeney’ when Cory wished him ill. Riley gives the eulogy and everyone learns to cherish their loved ones while they’re alive.

Next is Molly and her death phobia in the series. Molly’s emotions toward her husband are erratic in all three seasons. It’s been over a decade since Rick’s death and she still hasn’t accepted it. In the Christmas episode ‘Fountain’ Molly admits to a young Fi that her loss bothers her. In ‘Medium’ Molly began to resent Rick’s memory because she felt haunted by him wishing that she could forget him. Molly misses being a lover but is guilt-ridden because she feels like she is betraying her husband. (‘Fathom’) And in season 3’s ‘Muse,’ Molly and the band travel to the town of their first concert to recapture the inspiration she felt there. Molly never gains acceptance over death and I loved that this option was shown as well. Not everything is wrapped up in a happy ending.

The final lesson is accepting your own death. Self-death may be literal like the episodes ‘Rebecca’, ‘James Garr’, ‘Angel’ or ‘Grave Mistake’. Or death can be metaphorical like Riley becoming new personas, Maya losing herself, or the death of love. The former episodes dealt with the concept of immortality and coming to terms with one’s final moments. Fi investigates a girl claiming to be Rebecca’s daughter in truth, she’s Rebecca herself. Amazed at how much this immortal girl knows and has seen in her years, Rebecca refutes this saying that she hates her immortality. She can never marry, she had to leave Molly, her only friend, behind. Who wants to live forever? ‘James Garr’ is about the titular character undergo cryonic preservation as a cancer cure. The procedure’s successful, but James Gar hasn’t a soul anymore with this realization he gives his life to an elderly patient Jack met. In the subplot that elderly man dying of cancer beleives that whenever death comes for him he will greet death with willingness and bravery. James Garr realizing his hollow life switch places with the man so he can live a little longer. ‘Grave Mistake’ is about a family friend of the family who’s been receiving death threats and runs to Annie and the Phillips for help. With Annie’s guidance, the woman discovers her dead husband wrote “You’re dead” so that she’d remember she died. It’s rare that a children’s show relays the message that death isn’t ominous, it’s part of life.

During an interview Cooksney admitted that if Disney had allowed them to, Fi would descend into Hell to rescue her father’s soul.*2 Jack would have discovered his past life as a Celtic knight who begged that his next incarnation would be as Fi’s older brother. Moreover, it explains that dragon’s fear of Jack in ‘Strangling’ and aside from familial bonds, knight life explains his overprotection of him mom from a mermaid siren. (‘Fathom’) A tenet of the Order of the Good Death’s death positivity is “I believe that my open, honest advocacy around death can make a difference, and can change culture.” Cooksney probably didn’t intend for SW to have so much death focus but it’s applicable to the show.

‘Yearbook’, ‘Triangle’, and ‘Ski Lodge’ are examples of metaphorical death. Whenever Riley embraces different personas, she’s undergoing an Ego Death in an attempt to discover her true self. She becomes a Goth Girl so her classmates visualize her shadow side. Contrary to her masquerade, Riley’s shadow side isn’t Goth but is a metaphor of her dark side coexisting with her light side. Maya lost herself during her dalliance with Lucas to understand her relationship identity contrasting he singular identity. Later on during the love triangle’s conclusion, Riley’s first comment is “This love triangle needs to die. Nature knows that it needs to die.” Of all her friends Riley mentions death the most, examples are ‘Yearbook’, ‘Gravity’, and ‘Pluto.’ Continuing with this death theme involve the teenagers’ fantasies as a metaphor for the death of their romance. During their respective daydreams, Riley and Maya inform each other that their dream romance isn’t reality. In Dream Riley’s fantasy she dies, in essence the girls kill their ego and their romances to grow.

Childhood Acceptance

Transforming themselves from childhood trauma are Annie and Maya’s ultimate goals within the series. Annie’s panther and Maya’s hope are key in reaching their transformations. For this essay portion I’m using Widow’s Walk’, ‘Pen Pal’, and ‘Annie’s Song.’ For Maya’s episodes I’ll use are ‘World of Terror 3’, ‘Forgiveness’, and ‘Goodbye.’

Symbolically the panther represents the death-rebirth cycle and confronting fears. According to Spirit Animal’s website, those with the panther guide are blessed with powerful protectors. In addition, panthers indicate supernatural journeys with occult leanings. Therefore her character’s introduction served a purpose in So Weird despite being unplanned. Finally as Annie’s panther endows her with strength to confront any obstacle before her.

‘Widow’s Walk’ acts as a transition between death acceptance into childhood acceptance. Tired of her age limiting her privileges Annie swaps ages with an elderly woman. Shocked by her transformation she finds a bottled message from the woman’s husband. Desperate for her youth back Annie begs the woman to reverse their ages. Selfishly, the woman refuses due to her thinking that her husband’s waiting for her at home not realizing he died in sea storm that turned the woman into a widow. Growing weaker daily Annie knows if she can’t convince the woman of the truth she will die. When Annie feints in an attempt to reach the woman and true to its nature, Annie’s panther appears at her side giving her strength to continue on. Obviously Annie’s successful getting her age back. What’s interesting are the contradictions between the elderly woman and Annie. Both characters fear death desperately clinging to life, but Annie’s aware of death while the woman would rather delude herself of human mortality. At the climax the women’s remorseful of her selfishness wishing she knew how to reverse her wish. Annie’s regrets her wish understanding living in the present is better than living in living in the future.

Similarly ‘World of Terror’ along with ‘Pen Pal’ shows the girls’ adolescence if their positive influences were absent in their lives. By befriending Jennifer and not meeting Riley, Annie and Maya become rebellious Goths. Maya no longer believes that she deserves good things; Annie pushes her friends away. Following this change, Alternate Annie’s panther is a worthless tattoo, Alternate Maya begins bulling Riley for not letting her in her bedroom. . Deprived of hope or understanding our alternates protagonists cannot accept their pasts. Being Disney, these girls defeat their alternates. Annie through using her panther power, Maya through befriending Riley in the parallel universe.

These last three deal with Maya and Annie discovering the truth and making amends with their childhoods, finally able to put the past behind them and move on. In ‘Forgiveness’ Maya writes and letter to her father, Kermit, in an attempt to forgive him as part of Cory’s homework assignment. That following day Kermit returns to town hoping what his daughter said in her letter was true. Unable to forgive Kermit, he leaves once more reducing Maya to tears. As a result Maya realizes she’s forgiven herself for believing she caused Kermit’s departure. By forgiving herself, Maya’s ablity to accept her past and her new father figure in Shawn Hunter when he adopts her in ‘Goodbye.’

In the penultimate episode the characters travel to a Native American reservation as a break from touring. Unlike her friends Annie can’t enjoy her day off with strange flashbacks coming to mind. Coyote possesses the tribe’s leader when a little girl becomes lost in the forest, forcing Annie to remember her childhood memories. Years earlier the Thelon family visited a jungle for a research assignment, little Annie awakens before her parents do and wanders into the forests. She happens across a petrified tribal man and it’s only when a poisonous snake attacks her she realizes the danger she’s in. As her parents discover their daughter’s disappeared, the man rushes her to his village in an attempt to save her life. With shaman magic, the man’s father removes the venom and takes Annie to a location where her parents will find her. Grateful Annie sacrificed her life to save his son, the father promises to protect her all her life in the form of a panther. With full understanding of her childhood, Annie manages to accept her past as Maya did.

Conclusion

Girl Meets World and So Weird are different shows catering to wildly different audiences. Still, each character follows similar archetypes as well as themes people wouldn’t expect of Disney Channel to allow on their network. More importantly, the fact that it does shows its capability to portray mature, darker subject matters for all audiences. Readers may disagree with my argument but these are shows the current generation should watch. Girl Meets World is a television show that my generation should watch. My Top 10 Worst Couples Ever

Now keep in mind this my own personal opinion. I welcome other opinions as well but kicking off the list at number 10 Shaty (Girl Meets World)

I absolutely hate this couple for several reasons. Shawn and Katy have no chemistry, they are slapped together all so Shawn could play Daddy to Maya and worst of all it shoves a side a black woman and dismisses an interracial relationship and as a biracial woman who is half black and half white I wanted to see Shawn and Angela (Shawnangela) an interracial couple suceed. If someone tells me this isn’t a race related issue then you find a way to tell me why Angela the only black female/main black character was brushed to the side and treated like shit? No other characters who happen to be white never once got this shitty treatment Angela got. Another reason I hate this ship is because it shits on single parents and treats single parents as if they aren’t enough. I also think it makes both Katy and Maya look dick hungry. I wanted Shawnangela to suceed because it shows little kids who watch this show that Love knows race, gender or sexuality. I wanted kids to see that people can fall in love no matter the struggles and backgrounds people come from.

# 9 Litterai Jess/Rory (Gilmore Girls)

Oh I know a lot of people aren’t going to agree with me on this but I honestly think this is one of the most over hyped ships and to be honest I cannot understand why. Yes Jess reads and he is a bad boy but all in all this relationship was hardly a relationship. First Rory cheated on Dean emotionally and then physically when she kissed Jess and cut school for him where she missed her mom’s grad party. Then Jess just treated Rory and her family like shit. He lied about such stupid things such as, him failing out of school, showing up at Emily’s and Richard’s with a black eye and wouldn’t tell Rory the truth, and taking the bracelet Dean gave to Rory. Like why does he feel the need to lie to her? It makes no sense. Then when Rory went away on a trip comes back and Jess dates a girl who he doesn’t even care about just make Rory jealous. Then those two finally gets together he flunks out of school where he had to repeat his senior year, he tried to force himself on Rory. He then ends up in a fight with Dean granted Dean did throw the first punch. Jess then leaves for a whole year and doesn’t even bother telling Rory where he is or going then he comes back. Few years later shows up again and asks Rory to run away with him. She has since moved on. Now as adults Jess has it together and Rory is a train wreck and Adult Jess is too good for Rory.

#8 Danny & Sandy (Grease)

Okay another unpopular opinion but Danny and Sandy are not a healthy couple but the songs in Grease are supposed to distract from how unhealthy they are. Danny treats Sandy like absolute shit. He is sweet to her in private, but when he gets around his friends his personality does a complete 180 and he becomes a total jackass in public. That is a red flag. People if your partner becomes a different person around his or her friends then that is a sign you are in unhealthy relationship. Two Danny completely ignores Sandy after Sonny pulls her off the dance floor and dances with Cha Cha. He also seems to act embarrassed in public to be seen in public which is another red flag of unhealthy relationship your partner/significant other should never be embarrassed of who they are dating” He also sexually assaulted Sandy at the drive in. He did the classic boob grab and Sandy started screaming saying “Get off me” instead Danny smiled like a jerk and said “Nobody is watching”. Worst of all Sandy and Danny do a complete 180 on who they were but only Sandy ends up changing all so Danny would be with her. Again another red flag that this isn’t a healthy relationship. If your partner significant other can’t accept you for who are then that is a good time to break things off with that person don’t change who are just because your partner doesn’t agree.

#7 Jaige (Jake & Paige Famous in Love)

I have expressed my feelings before but I will here too. I honestly cannot stand this ship or more so Jake. Jake is ungrateful little whiny asshole. He treats Paige like absolute shit. He gets mad at her over the littlest things and it is so frustrating. His jealousy of Rainer isn’t cute because it comes off as him being possessive of Paige. Even before they dated his jealousy was annoying but yet he has the nerve to be jealous while he goes off to another state with Lexi, he has sex with her to try and help his directing career then people want to make changes to his script he gets mad and then ghosts Lexi. He confesses his love at a conference that was held after Rainer’s meltdown where he punched out Paparazzi. He doesn’t move in with Paige, but she goes foreword anyways, he doesn’t respect her choices. He gets mad at Paige for the stupidest stuff like not spending enough time with him even though she is going to her damn job. Paige however does try to include him in things she can. However the minute something doesn’t go his way he bitches and moans. Paige is kind enough to invite him to a celebrity event even if it is hosted by Rainer Devon. Paige invited Jake to try and help his directing career. Now keep in mind Paige didn’t want to go this event and said she wasn’t drinking and that she was leaving early because she had to get up for a photo shoot the next day. She sits down with some rich producer guy who has some tequila. He offers and Paige respectfully declines. However the guy keeps agging her on and she looks to Jake for help. Does he defend her choice? Nope instead he gives her eyes saying “You better drink so my career can take off” finally Paige wanting to support Jake more starts drinking. She then gets super drunk and wanders off. Jake doesn’t even bother to worry or care about finding her until hours later and ends up flirting with Billie. Rainer finds Paige brings her home safely. However when Jake sees Rainer at Paige’s house he gets jealous and starts accusing Paige of cheating with Rainer. Um Jake you left your drunk at a party all because you are self absorbed in your own future directing career. Then he didn’t bother waiting for Paige to finish “Stealing Georgia”. His possessiveness of Paige is gross and I am glad Paige dragged him with the “Nothing is ever your fault” speech. Paige dragging Jake was damn good tea 🍵

#6 Emison/Emisoff Alison/Emily (Pretty Little Liars)

For people who follow me on my here you know I absolutely hate Emison. No it’s not because they are interracial and no it is not because it is a lesbian couple I have much better reasons to hate this couple. For starters Alison is a manipulative bitch. She treated all of her friends like shit especially Hanna and Emily. She fat shamed Hannah. Her treatment of Emily however is just gross. She knew Emily had feelings for her and let her kiss her. Emily took that to mean that Alison also had feelings for her. When Emily tried to kiss Alison again, Alison could have said a pilot but respectful no thank you instead Em gets “Those kisses were for practice.” She tricked Emily into sending her money and knows Emily is the easiest to manipulate and control out of all the liars. She only wants to be with Emily when she needs or wants something and so Paige can’t have her. Alison constantly manipulated Emily and treats her and people she cares about like shit. The only reason they are together is because Alison became impregnated with Emily’s eggs and to please the fans. Oh and if my significant other treated my loved ones like shit their ass would be kicked to the curb.

#5 Olicity Oliver/Felicity (Arrow)

This could have been a good couple but honestly it came out of no where and it ruined Felicity as a character. Oh and I can’t stand Oliver but we will get into that on my number 4 worst couple. I honestly liked how they met and how they worked together but their relationship is just awful. Felicity is ablist as hell at times. She referred to Lian Yu as fantasy island all because Oliver were there with Shado and Sara despite Oliver referring to it as his personal Hell. She called his mom Moria diabolical at her own funeral but Oliver wasn’t around to hear it. She also tried to Black mail Moria but it backfired or at least I hoped. She told Oliver who has ptsd from the island .”Part of you will always be on the island” that doesn’t help at all. Then the William situation comes up. She is all mad and his face the first time she finds out because he lied but only found out that William is his son and he respectfully asks for a minute to himself but she doesn’t back off. The second time she finds out she shades she is mean to him and whines because she isn’t included. Then Samantha comes forward and confessed it is her fault for putting Oliver in that position. When Oliver sends Sam and William away after his own son was kidnapped Felicity still gets mad and gets up from her wheel chair and walks away (So disrespectful to people who cannot walk) Then there is those two being the shittiest wedding guests at WestAllen’s wedding party and Oliver begging Felicity to Marry him. Then Felicity finally decides to Marry Oliver by interrupting Barry & Iris’s wedding. Then those two shits had their own without inviting WA.

#4 Lauriver (Arrow)

Such a shame these two could have been a great couple. Comic book accurate, childhood friendship and great chemistry. However I put them on the list for a few reasons. One Oliver serial cheated on Laurel, he had a baby with one woman and then he was had an affair Sara, Laurel’s sister while he got on that boat along with her. He thought of Laurel every time he wanted to die. He hooked up with Shado and had sex with her. He comes back tries to win Laurel back but she moved on to Tommy. His hypocrisy towards her is angering and aggravating as hell. Then in season 2 Sara comes back. No one tells bothers to tell Laurel that Sara is back. The worst episode in season 2 was episode 14. That was the episode where Dinah (Laurel’s mom) Quinton, Sara and Laurel are going to have a family dinner to welcome back Sara and where the two sisters could reconcile their relationship or at least start to. Nope that doesn’t happen. Keep in mind Laurel is all ready at a low point in her life. She is dealing with Tommy’s death along with having to deal with an alcoholic father and her mom abandoning her along with her sister and her boyfriend dying while they betrayed plus she all ready yelled at Sara the previous episode saying how much Sara’s actions hurt her and the family. Now back to dinner. Sara and Oliver show up at Laurel’s apartment for the family dinner despite Sariver having an affair started the Lance family drama and caused Laurel a lot of emotional pain. Both Sara and Oliver rubbed their relationship in Laurel’s face. Laurel chews everyone at the table out besides her own mom which they all deserved. When she leaves Oliver and her get in a fight and he tell her to go have a drink and that he will pay for it. So Oliver is an ablest piece of shit as well and not once has he shown the the amount of compassion for Laurel and her family. He is a home wrecker along with Sara. Yet Laurel continued to be there for him and his family despite him not deserving it. Then her death was bullshit and disrespectful. He told Black Siren I never want to see your face nor hear your name again. Okay asswipe go get rid of all those pictures you have of Laurel, you know since both her and Black Siren share a face, and name. Ugh I need Black Siren to beat up Oliver so much.

#3 Karmel/Karmayo Kara/Monel (Supergirl)

If you are wondering why I call them Karmayo it’s because this is another generic white ship that shoved aside a black character. Not only did they shove aside a non problematic black man aside they replaced him with a former White slave owning prince and no I don’t care that he was from another planet. Mon El or as Kara calls him Dude bro or Frat Boy of the universe. I hate this relationship because Mon El doesn’t respect Kara at all. (Which she drags him for in the episode where J’onn’s dad mind is having problems a side affect of Martian dementa.) Kara tries to set Mon El up with a job instead he goofs off eats candy and screws Eve Tessmock (sorry if that is misspelled that) he called Kara selfish after bullying another aileen for money and admitting that he wants to use his power for muscle. Left civilians hurt and a cop even got struck by lightening which James had to go back for which he tells Kara and everything he said about Mon El is true. Mon El had no intention on telling Kara the truth it only came out because his parents came to earth. He also said he missed objectifying women. He left a woman behind after sleeping with her when his planet was crashing he didn’t bother to help others even though he is the prince and didn’t bother helping the slaves on his planet. Oh and Kara shouldn’t have gotten back with him she can do so much better. #2 Rumbelle

Rumple is a wife killer for one he killed Milah twice. He manipulates and is super controlling of Belle. He beat her father to a pulp. Manipulated his way back to Belle despite her not wanting anything to do with him. Stalked Belle by putting a magic tracker bracelet on her again not wanting anything to do with her and just manipulates her. He locked her on a boat and almost got her killed and didn’t lift the spell when she asked him to. Belle was so scared of Rumple because he wouldn’t give up power even for her that she felt she had to give away their son. Rumple did nothing but like and manipulate Belle. He gave her a fake dagger until she found the real one with the gauntlet and she banned home him from Storybrooke. Even Emily Da Raven the actress who plays Belle doesn’t like Rumbelle. Anyways Rumbelle is toxic.

Finally Cominf in #1 Ezria

Ezra litterallt stalked Aria and her friends. He is a canon predetor, stalker, and statutory rapist. He knew Aria was going to be his student but still had a relationship with Aria. Even if he didn’t know it was up to him to stop the relationship because she was the child and he was the adult. Instead those two end up married. (I will make a list of illegal things Ezra Fitz has done in another post) He also had an inappropriate relationship with Alison who was also underage at the time. Ezria getting married sends a bad message to young teen girls and boys stuck in abusive relationship. I feel this is basically telling these young people that they have to stay with their abuser. Ezra Fitz needs to be in prison for the rest of his life for being s predetor.
