You won’t convince me that it was actually Rhysand all along who wanted the book & he needed a way to get it & when Tarquin became HL he found his way. The way Rhysand kept saying that Tarquin was new & untested, the way he was adamant that Feyre NOT tell or ask Tarquin for help, told me everything I needed to know.

The way Tarquin genuinely wanted an alliance & maybe even a friendship & they screwed him & his court over.

The way Hybern wasn’t even interested in the book until he found out Rhysand had taken it from The Summer Court.

He wanted that book for himself & he knew that he could convince Feyre to take it under the guise that Hybern was after it when really it was him all along, he knew Hybern didn’t have an interest & I will ALWAYS be absolutely livid that Tarquin rescinded those blood rubies!!

Regarding the "Does RWBY like women?" poll (yes, yes it does BTW).

You know... the whole poll debacle reminded me of something.

RWBY helped me expand my media diet by telling me that just because people hate something enmass, it could just all be bullshit coupled with mob mentality.

Instead of hatedoms getting me to think:

"Damn, I don't even wanna be associated with that show based on the rage it inspires."

My more skeptical brain is like:

"Okay, so why is it reeeeeeeally hated? Is it reeeeeeeally bad or are people going along with the crowd because critical thinking is too much of a burden in this capitalist hellscape?"

Because bad media literacy is in part a result of the fact that most geeks and normies alike aren't out to be legit critics but rather just want to enjoy the thing, gush about the thing and so forth. They can't exactly articulate their reasonings why like they're trying to get an A+ in Therapy Studies.

And THAT is how the YouTube Video Essay and Angry Critic scene takes off.

We dunk on the Nostalgia Critic (often for VERY real IRL grievances) but his catchphrase: "I remember it so you don't have to" is something many who'd come after would take to heart. These video maker people are taking about a thing you like and are explaining it in a way you not only agree with but makes you feel vindicated.

Be it for love... or for hate.

Because hatedom circles like the RWDE looks to video essays that reassure them, keep them from doubting their stance on the thing and how they enforce it.

With the burden of actually seeing the thing and thinking hard taken off of them, people can confidently say things like "RWBY prioritizes Jaune" despite not looking at any potential evidence in the show that might contridice it.

Which is why this is a call for everyone to question the popular opinions.

Does Jaune Arc reeeeeeally get that much narrative importance at the expense of the main girls?

Was Jaune reeeeeeeally a self-insert?

Was Ironwood reaaaaaally derailed in his character arc?

Was Adam reeeeeeeeally representative of the Faunus?

Was the Faunus reaaaaaally offensive?

And of course...

Was Monty Oum reeeeeeeeally the only one who's vision matter to the show above all else?

Ask yourself these questions and do the work to back them up. If people are giving you responses that contridict you, responses that take evidence from the work itself more often than not, then try to do the same in turn.

Think about that show or movie being panned? What if... you actually like it?

Not everybody is a critic... but we can at least try to.

Narrator: After Salem's defeat and the departure of Ozma our heroes are back in Beacon as students beacuse after Atlas fall the were 'tecnically' not licensed Huntress and Huntsman. So they were back in a rebuilded Beacon who was directed by Headmaster Qrow Braween (Glynda Goodwitch retire after the war ended.). Now in Beacons courtyard we can see the 4 year student Cardin Winchester who still thinks that Beacon was still the same from his 1 first year (he is wrong)

Cardin: Why does Arc, Pine, Ren, Wukong and Xiao Long have hot girlfriends and I the most cool and handsome student dosen't have nothing (he is coping)

Narrator: You see dear viewer, Cardin was obssed with a tag in his +18 content that was call NTR, so he thinks that he can steal and humilated a pearson, beacuse he thinks NTR is cool.

I'm so sick and tired of seeing these posts. Ruby was HAPPY about the boba. Ruby WANTED the boba. She was EXCITED about the boba. All these posts about her somehow needing to be TRAUMATIZED by the ACT OF DRINKING TEA not only shows that you didn't actually watch the episode, but if that's your takeaway of Ruby's breakdown and emotional journey in Volume 9, then you don't understand what actually happened to Ruby in Volume 9 if you think her trauma somehow stems from tea now. (Although it's apparently asking a lot from THIS fandom to not only watch something but also UNDERSTAND it...)

The mass takeaway from volume 9 seems to be "Ruby is traumatized by tea now and Yang's a bad sister", and I just don't get how you could do the mental gymnastics to come to a conclusion like that.

Shut up about the tea already. Quit making such a mountain out of a molehill when it's very clear the tea isn't what bothered Ruby.

I always find it so funny when Rwby stans accuse rwde/rwby critics of hating women and yet are at the ready to defend their favorite mediocre, bumbling white boi Jaune Arc. Whenever we bring up how he's prioritized over not just Ruby Rose but all of team Rwby, the stans deflect by saying "Jaune is just as important as team Rwby! He's also a main character!" Yeah, he's treated as THE main character while the characters whose team name is the title of the show are nothing more than glorified mascots.

The show overall has issues of trying to juggle too many characters since vol 1. But Jaune, while not very good development, has been given consistent development throughout the show. Meanwhile Ruby has been pushed to the background, until vol 6 when dumb and dumber (Kerry and Miles) remembered Ruby is supposed to be the main character and decided to make up for it by making her into a fucking Mary Sue and then into Remnant Jesus

I really do love RWBY. I know this sounds stupid as shit, but I think that it has positively impacted me and the way I think about things. I love the characters, I love the weapons, I love the story, I love the art style. It’s one of three pieces of media that have made me cry, and sometimes I actually had to go lay down after an episode because of how much it affected me. It’s not a perfect show, but it is truly wonderful.

Ruby: *pulls out a collapsable scythe that is not Crescent Rose and she dashes at Jaune, then casually lops his head off* That's another one.

Weiss: Ruby?! What the fuuuuuuuuuu-?! *clutches her head as she falls to her knees* Wh...what's going on?!

Ruby: Don't worry, you're just going through Psychic Shock. Your brain will catch up in a minute.

Weiss: RUBY, WHAT IS THIS?! WHY DID YOU CALL JAUNE?!

Ruby: He wasn't Jaune.

Weiss: ...WHAT?!

Ruby: Well, not your Jaune. Just like how I'm not your Ruby.

Weiss then sees a memory of Jaune carrying her through the woods when she broke her leg. Then, the memory goes up in flames as the memory erases itself.

Weiss: W-wha...what was that?

Ruby?: That's the Psychic Shock. Those false memories are being erased from your mind.

Weiss: False memories?

Ruby?: You see, Weiss, this is not your Jaune. This Jaune is part of a cabal of Multiversal Jaunes. They're variants of a 'True Jaune', the dorky, try-hard, endearing man who wants to be a hero. These Jaunes, who we call 'Jaune Parasites' because they all have implanted themselves with a psychic parasite. It feeds on their aura, which they can produce plenty of, and they use their psychic powers to implant false memories into others in an attempt to insert themselves either into the lives of others or insert themselves deeper and make themselves more important.

Weiss: But...why?

Ruby?: To conquer. Mostly so they can have any woman, or women, they want in large, multiverse-level harems. It's humorous in a way, since conquering multiple universes are almost a secondary goal to them.

Weiss: Then...what are you?

Ruby?: Oh, right. I'm Ruby Rose. Or, well, not your Ruby. I'm Ruby-837.

Weiss: You're the 837th Ruby?

Ruby-837: Actually, my serial number is Ruby 837-93 GAMMA, but let's keep this simple.

Weiss: Then...is the Jaune I know...you know...

Ruby-837: Dead? No. He's in a broom closet on the second floor.

Weiss: Oh my God, how long has he been in there?! Days?! Weeks?! Months?!

Ruby-837: About 20 minutes.

Weiss: ...Oh.

Ruby-837: Come on, Weiss. Keep up. Psychic parasites. They implant a lifetime's worth of memories into your head. Though, it's good I caught this early. Your Jaune would've been infected with the parasite and made into another 'alpha male stud' to start trying to conquer other universes.

Weiss: That's horrible!

Ruby-837: Yeah. The fact he was knocked out though at least means this is a decent Jaune. So, you know, if you have any actual feelings for him, then he's clean.

Ruby's wrist starts beeping.

Ruby-837: Oh, gotta go. Got a Code Gold going on. It's a pretty big deal. *takes her scythe and cuts open a portal* Have a good life, Weiss.

Weiss: Wait! I have one more question!

Ruby-837: ...Alright, but make it fast. I've got a multi-dimensional tyrant to stop.

Weiss: ...What...what happened to your Jaune? Did he go bad?

Ruby-837: *giggles* Weiss, Jaunes don't go bad. *she pulls up her blouse and shows multiple scars around her torso. There's a burn mark in the shape of Jaune's crest under her ribs* Some are just more selfish than others.

Weiss: Oh my God!

Ruby-837: *lowers her shirt* Your Jaune is a good one. So even if you don't slap a ring on him, make sure he stays a good man. I'd hate to have to come back and cut 'em down. *leaves through the portal*

It's kind of depressing when you realize out of Team RWBY, Weiss is the only one who get's constant development. Ruby doesn't get any character development until maybe Vol 4, and it was still sporadic at best. Yang and Blake got some good development up until Vol 7 where it feels like if it didn't involve Bumblee, then they didn't get anything (And in some cases you could argue going backwards...). So, this might be my bias talking (Weiss is best girl), but Weiss is the only one on that team to me that got anything in a constant enough rate. Only time I think she didn't develop was in Vol 9, but that was Ruby's time to shine so I'm not really upset with that one.

Yeah, when you think about it, there really wasn't much character development for any of the supposed "main characters" of the series, especially since they're also the titular characters.

Ruby's character development was like a David Cage game of Beyond: Two Souls, showing us Ruby's highs, lows, lows, lows, and LOWS of her character development, all before circling back to a HIGH just in time for her series to get canned. It's a sad sight.

Blake's character was centralized on the White Fang. She was in the White Fang until she left, then she finds out the White Fang are up to something in Vale to the point that it exhausts her, then she helps stop the White Fang in Vale and Mountain Glenn, then Yang was framed, and Blake thinks she's becoming Adam again, then the White Fang attack Beacon and Adam cripples Yang so she runs away to Menagerie to protect Yang and everyone she knows and learns the White Fang are up to something in Menagerie until she breaks everything up in Haven. Things go right for Blake overall until Adam shows back up and she and Yang murder him with no consequences. It is from this point that Blake's character arc with the White Fang ends and her entire character now becomes Yang's girlfriend. I've said it before and I'll say it again; Blake is the worst girl of Team RWBY.

Yang's character trait is that she has no character trait. None that's ever properly established. She's Ruby's sister and/or mother figure, but hardly interacts with her. She likes to party and get into fights, but we don't see her do either. Her mom is a bandit, but we don't know if Raven really loves Yang or not. She lost her arm to Adam, but she didn't really learn anything from that whole experience; again, nothing that we can see. And now Yang's character is Blake's girlfriend. I put Yang higher than Blake only because what story COULD be told isn't just the same story over and over.

So, now that I've gone over some issues of the others, let's talk about Weiss' character arc. Weiss is physically scarred by a trial set by her father in order to get into Beacon, and once she arrives, she's an uptight spoiled brat who expects to be handed the position of Team Leader. After she's humbled by Professor Port, she steps up as Ruby's second-in-command. She's pursued romantically by Jaune, whom she rejects outright multiple times until Neptune shows up, whom she romantically pursues until he starts flirting with other girls in front of her, though Jaune helps Neptune ask her to dance, and from there she and Jaune are on better terms as friends (which can be seen in V3 when he calls Weiss after getting out of the locker Pyrrha shoved him in). During V3, she's approached by her sister and financially cut off by her father. After the Fall of Beacon, she's forced to return home and is basically put in a sort of Brittney Spears house arrest, where she's only allowed out by her father to do whatever he wants her to do (I think that's what happened, I'm not really aware of what exactly happened during the whole "conservative house-arrest" thing from a few years back), until she escapes and is then captured by Raven until she's rescued by Yang. They then go to Haven and reunite with Ruby and Team JNR, and once Blake comes back, Team RWBY is back in full swing!

Okay, I think that's enough to make the point, but I do want to bring up something that is going to piss people off, because of course it will. It's about Weiss' likely endgame ship, White Knight. I said before that RWBY doesn't know how to do romance, but... Looking at the character developments of both Jaune and Weiss and they just somehow start leaning closer and closer, contrary to how they started out. Like, I know I'm not the only one seeing two characters with full-developed characters starting to get closer, so how is it that BMBLB sucks so hard with their story if it's the canon flagship?

Don't believe me? Think about what I was talking about with these characters. Do you know what the biggest difference is between the stories of Weiss and Blake and Yang? The answer is that Weiss actually has a story. Blake and Yang just are just... two halves of one whole. Weiss is completely independent of Jaune, and yet they both managed to grow without each other. I'm no relationship expert, but if you're relying on another person to have a character arc, that's not a healthy relationship- That's codependency.

I would have liked that Team RWBY had a talk with Ironwood, individually

Yeah... some time I don't talk specifically about Ironwood. I think that if the characters have interacted more with him, things like the team splitting would end up being more painful. But well, let's do this.

1.-Ruby

Remember what Ironwood said back then?

"Ruby, I feel it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you did last night is exactly what being a Huntress is all about. You recognized a threat. You took action. And you did the very best you could."

They could have a conversation about what being a leader means. Ironwood would give some advices.

Also they would talk about how they don't agree with Ozpin's methods. Of course, Ruby would not reveal what happened with Ozpin. But still.

And about reuniting the world. About how they must do their things and such.

They could also talk about the duty of a Huntsman. Which would make more tragic when Ironwood decides to not help Mantle.

2.-Weiss

Something I would like would be for Ironwood to transmit certain idea to Weiss. Both are atlesians elites. Yet Ironwood doesn't see himself, the rest of the military nor Weiss like the rest of the atlesian elites. For him, they are actually doing something good.

Basically would be like "Weiss, I'm glad that you are on our side. We are different from Jacques. On us depends the future of the kingdom, and we must do our best to say Atlas and Mantle".

You know, Ironwood with Atlas complex. Thinking that he must carry the weight of the world himself. But he would try to share somewhat of that mentality to Weiss.

They would discuss somewhat of the decisions of the kingdom and what would be the best for it. For example. Remember this?

"It's just… Our kingdom isn't supposed to be like this. Fearful, and withdrawn. We should be opening our borders to help the world, not closing them down."

Weiss could say those things to Ironwood, and he would give his arguments.

All of this, to make more dramatic when Ironwood decides to not make their dream come true of a better Atlas. Since he would lift the city in the air and would leave Mantle to die.

3.-Blake

This is the most interesting.

Blake would talk to Ironwood about the kingdom oppression over the faunus. She would tell him that he should change the legislation for the faunus to not be oppressed.

She would also confront him about him not arresting Jacques or not stopping the SDC from exploiting faunus.

You could say "We all know why Ironwood is not stopping Jacques", but even so, I would have liked that we received an official answer.

Also they could talk on the fact that Blake left the White fang. That means that both were on different sides of the conflict. And yet, they are allies now. It could be very interesting, think about it, Ironwood decided to forgive and not arrest a former criminal, why? We could see his motivations.

All of this so when he abandon Mantle, she would feel like they lost a valuable ally.

4.-Yang

This is easy. She thanking him for the new arm.

"When you're out on the battlefield, your judgment can become clouded in an instant. Sometimes you see things that simply aren't there. Even after the fight is past..."

They would talk about the PTSD. Maybe even Ironwood could reveal how he lost part of his body.

Yang would tell about how she was affected by Adam cutting her arm. And would tell about how her friends are helping her deal with the PTSD.

They would even talk about the people close to them. About how they have to stop Salem to not only save the future, but also protect the ones they love.

5.-Conclusions

I think that these could have been interesting moments that would add to each character and make more dramatic the division that was going to come.

There have been plenty of nice characters that go off their shit! Pinkie Pie (MLP), Bubbles (PPG), Matsuda (Death Note), the Iron Giant and various others could get FUCKING PISSED when pushed to the brink! It made their outburst THAT more impactful due to the contrast between their anger and how they usually act! EVEN SUPERMAN ISN’T EXEMPT FROM THIS, ESPECIALLY IN THE INJUSTICE TIMELINE!

RWBY, let your female characters experience anger and frustration without demonizing them for it CHALLENGE FAILED.

the inability to let ruby be mad is so maddening because it just shows that the "one word" bullshit they had blake do about her friends shows that this is how they actually think these characters are. they're defined by one word, they're one dimensional puppets that need to adhere to that one word descriptor & can't deviate from it ever.

despite the fact that ruby has been mad before? she would get frustrated in the early volumes, she was furious at mercury & cinder in the v5 conflict, it's just that they don't want her to be mad at jaune. god forbid their precious author's pet is ever held accountable by the narrative or even made to acknowledge the fact that he killed ruby's first ever real friend. jaune killed someone & it's never acknowledged!

the vague realization is cut short by ruby fainting. weiss apparently informs them all off screen. nothing else happens & it's all just so frustrating.

God, just. The fact that Blake was trying to help Ruby the way that Ruby has always helped her, that Ruby earned her admiration for. Trying to be the one to keep them moving, to keep them determined that they can do SOMETHING.

And not only does it not work, but Ruby immediately rebukes her because she's so TIRED of being the one to do that. Blake was only trying to help, and she unintentionally hurt Ruby even more.

The way that Yang holds no anger whatsoever in her voice when she says 'hey' to defend herself and Blake when Ruby mocks their getting together. The look of guilt and horror on her face as she finally realizes that her sister is faring far worse than she suspected.

The pain and fear in Weiss's expression. She's gone from doubting Ruby's ability to lead to having complete, unwavering faith in her, and now her best friend is telling her that she doesn't have faith in HERSELF anymore.

Jaune realizing that Ruby is just as broken as him, realizing that he's only hurting her even more, realizing that she's carrying the same weight that he is, but that she's been keeping it so deeply buried until she can't anymore.

Somebody give them a hug ;-;
