It's strange to me how people fixate so hard on Ocean's ableism when they bash her. Yes ableism is bad but is her fatphobia, racism, slut shaming, xenophobia, dehumanization, and homophobia not also worth mentioning or calling out to you? Because I'm going to keep it 100%, it feels like people are acting as though Ricky is some baby who needs to be protected from ableism. Which he very much is not. I'm convinced some of you didn't watch the same musical.

Saying it here cuz I don’t wanna get bashed in the fandom(I have never been active in this fandom but from my experience with others just playing it safe 👍)

Dismissing Ocean as just a "problematic/flawed female character" and acting like people only dislike her because she's a girl is extremely disingenuous and dismisses actual misogyny that's present in the RTC fandom. She's actively ableist to Ricky (and just generally) and no she was not "redeemed" for that or whatever the fuck. Y'all just don't care about disabled people

replying to the reply: actually she does not! She gets a *start* to character development but it’s at the *very end*, if the writers had made the show longer then maybe she’d have better written development that we could see throughout the show? Like as the rest of the choir end their songs she could realise some stuff but she only really does after TBOJD (and even then she’s a tiny bit iffy to Constance) and Sugar Cloud

I don’t HATE Ocean but she and the other characters definitely could’ve been written better than they were

oceans character arc is basically non-existent and rushed and people saying she wouldn’t be as hated if she was male are incorrect, i hate her since she’s ableist, himophobic, xenophobic etc if she was a male i’d still hate her.
