i get pissed off whenever i see people saying that rhaenyra was bi and that she was in a relationship with laena or that daemon, rhaenyra and laena were in poly relationship, or that daemon only loved laena and that was his healthiest relationship like what are you people even reading at this point.... the truth is daemyra were together as soon as their lovers dropped dead (maybe even before that), had a son not even nine months after laena died, daemon killed laena's brother to marry rhaenyra and they were criticised by everyone but it was not true love and they married for politics apparently and were only mourning their dead lovers😔

I don't ship Rhaenyra and Laena. And I can explain why, if you interested

I want to express my opinion about Rhaenyra's possible bisexuality and her romance with Laena. Usually I write in my posts that I do not exclude such a possibility since this theory is quite popular, and GRRM did not confirm or deny it, but still I do not believe in this relationship and I can explain why. If you ship Rhaenyra and Laena, please just stop reading this post. I just want to express my opinion, and not to start a conflict or heated debate in the comments and reblogs.

Let's start with the fact that GRRM gives quite clear hints about romances between characters. Littlefinger mentions Loras's appetite, which makes it difficult for him to marry, Aegon's son Daeron broke off his engagement for his lover, Sabitha Frey loved women, Jeyne Arryn too, Rhaena Targaryen was too attached to her ladies-in-waiting, which was considered inappropriate at court, Laenor spent all his time with handsome men and everyone knew about it.

On the other hand, it was never mentioned that Rhaenyra shared intimacy with any woman except Laena. It seems like the only one Rhaenyra was interested in was either Daemon (Eustace's version) or Criston (Mushroom's version). And note, Eustace did not miss a single opportunity to insult Rhaenyra. He commented on her first marriage, her appearance. Let me remind you that same-sex relationships were considered inappropriate at court, add to that Eustace, who hates Rhaenyra, but he does not say a word about Rhaenyra having feelings for any of her ladies-in-waiting. Mushroom is obsessed with sex. Wasn't he the one who gossiped about him having a group sex with Daemon and Rhaenyra, or that Rhaenyra was third in bed with Laenor and Qarl? But then again. Mushroom did not spread a single gossip about the sexual relations between Rhaenyra and Laena.

We know that Laena's younger brother, Laenor, did not hide his preferences and lived the way he wanted. It does not seem that Rhaenys and Corlys somehow limited their son or tried to make him what he wasn't. They even recognized their daughter-in-law's bastards as their grandchildren and did not put any pressure on Laenor. From this information, one might assume that they would have been equally understanding about their daughter, but Laena was not surrounded by one or more beautiful women, and there is no mention of Laena's closeness to any woman other than Rhaenyra.

We do have a reference to twelve-year-old Laena being more interested in dragon riding than boys, and not being upset that Viserys chose Alicent over her. But to me, that sounds more like a lack of ambition than a lack of interest in men. Laena must have been relieved to learn that at twelve, she would not have to marry a widower approaching his thirtieth birthday, and who had a daughter only four years younger than her would-be stepmother. Laena was only twelve, barely a child, a child who had tamed the largest and oldest dragon in the world. If I were Laena at the age of twelve, I too would prefer to spend my time in the company of a legendary dragon rather than a man. By the way, a small digression. It is quite interesting that before her death, Laena wanted to spend her last moments in the company of Vhagar, and not with her parents, brother, husband, Rhaenyra or daughters. It seems that this dragon really meant a lot to her.

Also, let's talk about this quote from the book: "Whilst Princess Rhaenyra misliked her stepmother, Queen Alicent, she became fond and more than fond of her good-sister Lady Laena."

I think this sentence is the whole tricky part. Because each reader interprets these words in their own way. Personally, I interpret these words as Rhaenyra did not like her stepmother and there was obvious hostility between them, but at the same time she got along well with her good-sister. As a friend. Not as a lover.

People can love each other non-romantic. It really saddens me that people tend to sexualize friendships. Wouldn't it be cooler if Rhaenyra had a real friend, the older sister she never had, and not another lover? Wouldn't it be more interesting if Rhaenyra and Laena had a platonic, familial love without any sexual overtones? Considering Rhaenyra's difficult life and her sad end, I think she deserved a real best friend, not another lover.

Anyway, if GRRM confirms that Laenyra is a canon couple, I will immediately admit I was wrong. But for now, to me, Laenyra's sexual relationship and Rhaenyra's bisexuality are just a popular theory, not canon or proven fact.

Or you want to satisfy your polygamy fantasies.

How can you think that living with a gay man who doesn't want you or even worse, would rather be anywhere but with you is great?

People who claim laenyra as canon are so annoying. It’s literally just a head canon. Had they actually been romantically involved, one of two things: one, Mushroom would have mentioned it in some capacity, and two, the greens would have used it against Rhaenyra. Yet neither of these things happened and we only got mention of their relationship to juxtapose the one Rhaenyra had with Alicent.

Literally people who said that, "Laenyra is a queer canon relationship", that's pure misinformation.

GRRM never hides its LGBTQ+ characters or uses any particular subtext, so why would it have done so with Rhaenyra and Laena ?

And if it was really canon and therefore obvious in the text, there is no way the Greens wouldn't have used it to spit even more on Rhaenyra. You have to stop the bullshit after a while.

And no, a sentence talking about love, which can be completly platonic, is not a subtext. Again, GRRM has never established its queer characters with subtext, it has always been clear. So why with Rhaenyra he would suddenly use language that requires subtext ?

Sorry, but this kind of thing annoys me.

And whether they made Rhaenicent in place of Laenyra friendship, doesn't change that fact.

By the way, Rhaenicent canonically in HOTD is a friendship, and that's what they replace in relation to Laenyra : A friendship.

And that's bad enough, especially after making Laena a black character, and therefore diminishing in HOTD the interesting material that this secondary character canonically had in Fire and Blood.

Why do that ? (Obviously for they pro Greens agenda...)

Laena & Rhaenyra canonically in Fire and Blood is a great friendship, and it's the one we should have seen in HOTD instead of this weird and disgusting Rhaenicent friendship fanfiction that the writers use as queerbaiting.

But the fact is that saying that Laena and Rhaenyra is a canon queer relationship in Fire and Blood is purely false. The fact they did Rhaenicent friendship / queerbaiting in HOTD doesn't change that for F&B.

It’s the year of our lord 2023, and people are still acting as if a small, grossly insinuated single paragraph in f&b translates to rhaenicent’s story somehow being taken from laenyra (or whatever it’s called) and given to Alicent and Rhaenyra.

We can all agree to the notion that Laena, all of the black girls/women on the show really, got the short end of the stick. No need to dispute or argue that because it’s just a fact. Mind you, the people that say they care about laena and her lack of development are the same ones that were cheering about those leaks (which more than likely could’ve been fake knowing how much this fandom likes making shit for the sake of it) depicting daemon possibly cheating on laena with a man. Pushing aside the cheating/disrespecting his wife to call him a ‘bi icon’ lmao.

Oh and this isn’t even touching how people pretend to care about Baela and Rhaena. They are more worried about how that leads back to Daemon’s characterization than how those girls are surrounded by people who undermine their best interest at every turn

I’m not interested in any ship that involves Miss Maegor(except her x the first van to the nuthouse), but if we are talking about the validity of the ship(there is none) then that’s a different story.

Show!Laenyra does not exist. I wished the morons who are trying to make fetch happen would stop using Show!Laena in their fanart because show!Miss Maegor viewed Laena as competition(see Missy Anne glaring at her at her wedding).

It’s disrespectful as hell to put show!Laena with the woman who shamelessly threw herself at her husband at her funeral(karma hit her fast though, see chokegate). This ship is worse than Rancid. At least that’s show canon.

The show is racist for making Laena seem like second place which is coincidentally the same thing that Becky and them are trying to do with Laenyra and Nettles when they say she should be fucking cut from the show because there are too many darkies around.

The show is racist for screwing over Laena. This show is racist for racebending a character and then proceeding to kill her off in the most brutal way possible in order to make a racist white woman’s death(she had it coming for her) look less pathetic while labeling your deplorable decisions as “empowering.”

Laena is treated as a pet or a prop by these deluded stans and not an actual character who deserved respect love and cherishment. Her purpose was not and has never been to bow down and thirst over a fucking lunatic.

Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge that isn’t ready to have a conversation about this shows biases and their own.

Moving on! The only basis for book!Laenyra is the word fond(which is used in as a comparison between how Missy Anne viewed Laena vs. her stepmother). That’s not enough proof to show that they were fucking or in a throuple situation with Daemon.

If they had actually been in the former Daemon would’ve gotten Missy Maegors dumbass pregnant and Joffrey would not exist(anyone who doesn’t think so is a dumb fuck who needs to brush up on their reading comprehension).

I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face. No one actually cares about this stupid ship. Notice how the only people who ship it are Rhaenyra/Dumbnyra stans.

The only reason why Rhaenyra’s dumbass racist white-supremacy lite stanbase pretends to care about Laenyra is so that they can squeeze Rhaenyra’s ass into Laena and Daemon’s marriage and make it seem like Daemon just can’t live without her.

(Which makes total sense considering he couldn’t live without her so much that he choked her the fuck out in the show after she gave birth to a lizard and abandoned her for Nettles when she went fucking crazy and tried to murder her in her sleep in the books. I guess it’s not true love unless you completely don’t care about your partners emotional and physical well-being☺️).

To wrap this up, I cannot express how much I loathe this nonsensical ship(that’s why I’m censoring any of my cursing). Period point blank show!Laenyra isn’t fucking canon and book!Laenyra has only lint to support it being “canon.”

*I should add that there are people who genuinely support Laenyra and aren’t trying to use the ship to insert Miss Maegor into Laena and Daemons marriage or only view Laena as a prop, but they are few and far between.

The fact that we were robbed of what was possibly Rhaenyra’s only genuine, loving and reciprocal female relationship for a terribly written fanfiction plot line with her canonical abuser. I know a good chunk of people are up in arms about the whole Realm's Misery Kiss, but for me, I don't care. At the same time, it makes a little bit of sense given how Mysaria held Rhaenyra's council in the book and successfully turned her against Daemon...but at the same time...the kiss could have been executed differently.

I don't know, the whole making out after trauma dumping gave me SEVERE whiplash, but I'm neither outraged nor angry. Rhaenyra's always been bisexual and besides, the creators of the show have proven time and time again that they don't give a flying fuck about GRRM's work and will piss on it because fuck proper character development. At this point, I've become numb to the show and all that matters are the Dragon Twins, Rhaenyra, her sweet boys, and the dragons. I no longer care for Alicent's floundering about in her own hypocrisy, Criston's constant failing upwards, the craziness at Harrenhal, and all the other shit that's been shoveled down my mouth.

I just don't care.

Rhaenyra is a girls girl, she is surrounded by women so her fans don’t have to resort to pairing her with the stepmother who stole her throne. Instead we can couple her with one of the many ladies who came to her aid and pledged their allegiance to the True Queen of Westeros.

Alicent doesn’t have this, there are only two people you can ship her with: the white knight who although devoted to her has no interest in sex or the stepdaughter who ordered the killing of her grandson.

They don’t like Rhaenyra, she’s just a self insert because Alicent has no one else.
