Kilowog's music festival celebratin' the last days of the United States continues!
It was hard ta' decide which version of this song ta' include. It's one a' the best workin' class songs ever written. Ultimately I went fer ZZ Top 'n Jeff Beck, both cuz I like the sound and cuz they show such respect fer Tennessee Ernie Ford's landmark version.

British singer-songwriter and guitarist Eric Clapton promoted the antisemitic conspiracy theory that Israel runs the world during an interview last week on the YouTube channel “The Real Music Observer.”
The Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, 79, referenced recent US congressional hearings where lawmakers grilled presidents of elite universities about surging antisemitism and rampant anti-Israel demonstrations on their campuses.
“I was so enthused about what was going on at Columbia [University] and everywhere. And then I saw, what I couldn’t believe, because it freaked me out, were the Senate hearings, which were like the Nuremberg trials, you know?” Clapton said during his guest appearance on “The Real Music Observer,” hosted by David Spuria. “The Senate committee would be asking pointed questions to presidents of universities, saying, ‘I just want to hear yes or no. Don’t talk to me about context. Yes or no, are you promoting antisemitism in your college? Yes or no.’ And I thought, what is this, the Spanish Inquisition? And it is! It’s AIPAC [the American Israel Public Affairs Committee], it’s the lobby. Israel is running the show. Israel is running the world.”
The hearings that Clapton referenced were held by the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, not a Senate panel.
In November, a little more than a month after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel, Clapton released an instrumental song called “Voice of a Child.” The song’s music video features photos from pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel rallies around the world as well as images of destruction in the Gaza Strip. The music video completely overlooks the Oct. 7 massacre that sparked the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
Clapton has recently been performing with a guitar that he painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag. Talking about the guitar while appearing on “The Real Music Observer,” he said, “We’re doing a thing now on this tour that I wrote originally as a tribute to Jeff Beck [who died in 2023]. I performed it at a tribute concert and then I didn’t play it anymore. But for this tour I’m doing it under a different guise. It’s the same tune, but I devoted it to the situation in Gaza. It’s called ‘Blue Dust’ because that’s what’s probably going to be left there. And I play a guitar that’s painted like the Palestinian flag.”
Clapton is a close friend of former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters, who has openly expressed antisemitic and anti-Israel sentiments, and has performed in garments that resemble a Nazi SS officer uniform. Clapton has defended Waters in the past, claiming that people “misinterpret” the latter’s position on Israel, and said last week that it takes “guts” to share political opinions like his.

So I called Pepose out, and he blocked me as well, he was like “writers are people too” and I pointed out so are his readers and he has no right to attack people, especially small accounts that don’t even tag him or systems who are hurt by what he’s done. Clearly he is just a narcissistic man child
David Pepose is such a disappointment. What an absolute ass. He really needs a publicist to tell him to get off Twitter.
Maybe if he didn't attack systems on Twitter; maybe if he didn't take MK System and turn them into a singlet self-insert character for exploring his own issues; maybe if he didn't write a Jewish character through a Christianized lens; and maybe if he didn't twist Layla El-Faouly into an Orientalist-troped "spirit guide" character who is at the beck and call of a white person ... maybe then he wouldn't have people calling him out for his shitty behavior and his ableist, anti-Jewish, and racist writing!
MK System are one of the few sources of representation that systems have in popular literature. They're also one of the few Jewish superheroes. Layla El-Faouly is the first Egyptian superhero in the MCU. And in "City of the Dead," Pepose takes all that and says, "No, I'm going to throw all that in the bin and write a story that will help *me* instead." He's taking characters that serve as desperately needed representation and using them for his own self-exploration.
Pepose, this is not about you!! Dude, you should be writing in service of these characters and the communities they represent, not using them as some sort of therapy session for dealing with your own shit. If you want to do that, just write an original story with original characters! Do what Jeff Lemire has done and focus on your own writing, you insufferable asshole!

LGBTQ RIGHTS Group can host ‘Protect Kids’ panel despite
Fort Worth allows event
The city of Fort Worth will allow a conservative political action group to host an event Saturday on LGBTQ issues at the Fire Station Community Center after revoking an event registration from the same group in April.
The decision comes amid concerns from LGBTQ residents and local faith-based organizations.
The event, titled “Protect Kids,” will feature a panel of activists discussing “the impact of LGBT ideology, the social contagion of transgenderism, and the dangers of pornography,” according to an event flyer.
The panel includes Kelly Neidert, a University of North Texas graduate who has protested drag shows across the state, and Jeff Younger, a former Texas House candidate known for his widely publicized custody battle over his transgender child.
Texas Latinos United for Conservative Action is hosting the event, along with the Tarrant County branch of Citizens Defending Freedom and the Texas Coalition for Children.
LGBTQ residents and local faith organizations have voiced concerns about the event, contending it promotes anti-transgender ideology and poses safety concerns.
Event opponents have spoken at City Council meetings and sent letters detailing their concerns to city leadership.
The dispute has sparked a debate over how far cities can go in regulating the use of government facilities and the practice of free speech.
Mayor Mattie Parker’s office did not respond to specific questions regarding the event, but the city published a statement May 30, saying “the renter submitted a complete application and acknowledged that they will follow the city’s policy.”
“By accepting facility rental reservations, the city of Fort Worth does not condone or endorse the content of facility rentals,” the statement adds. “The city is reviewing all facility rental policies thoroughly and will update the community on any relevant changes to those policies.”
Council member Elizabeth Beck, who represents the Fairmount neighborhood where the event will be held, said staff reviewed the organizers’ application and chose to approve it.
Local leaders criticize The Dallas Morning News for its alleged leftwing slant and bias
Local leaders are criticizing The Dallas Morning News for its alleged left-leaning bias.
“The news should be based on facts, not opinions. When media is clearly driven by political activism, most people are distrusting of it,” Texas Coalition for Kids President Kelly Niedert told The Dallas Express.
Recent content from The Dallas Morning News that has drawn the ire of critics include: An article focused on how Drag Queens struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the headline blaring: “It’s a struggle‘: How Dallas’ drag queens are making it work in the COVID-19 pandemic.” A piece that appeared to choose a side on a social-political issue, with the newspaper describing the state as being “harsh” toward transgender youth.
“Texas’ harsh moves against transgender youth provoke a backlash from big business,” screamed the headline.
And in a previously published opinion piece, The Dallas Express Chief Executive Officer Chris Putnam took umbrage with this loaded headline:
“Texas tollway authorities show little mercy for Texans for color, vulnerable communities.”
“The Dallas Morning News attempted to mansplain to its readers on how toll roads are racist with this headline,” Putnam opined.
Some local leaders say the DMN’s slant is part and parcel of an out-of-touch legacy media outlet.
“There is a reason people don’t trust traditional media, because traditional people are constantly under attack with radical ideology,” Tarrant County Republican Party Chairman Bo French told DX.
“Rags like The Dallas Morning News seem only able to focus on seeing racism in everything or shoving the debunked notion that there is such thing as ‘trans’ down everyone’s throat. Just look at their subscription numbers. Go woke. Go broke,” French added.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, a poll conducted last year by Garin Hart Yang Research Group on behalf of Mayor Eric Johnson shows that the most important issue on the minds of Dallas residents is public safety.
U.S. Air Force is paying for drag show performances using taxpayer money, records show
Crucial records have been disclosed, revealing that U.S. Air Force drag events have been funded by taxpayers’ money.
Judicial Watch and CatholicVote filed a Freedom of Information Act request to the U.S. Department of Defense regarding drag events, pride shows, and similar happenings hosted by the U.S. Air Force, reported Gateway Pundit.
The documents obtained showed a social media post advertising “Drag Queen Storytime” and various other pride events promoted by the U.S. Air Force.
The U.S. Air Force was also exposed for paying $400 for a bingo party with drag show performer “Miss Lexi Andrews,” per Gateway Pundit.
“We’re celebrating PRIDE month with our very first DRAG STORY TIME! Our local Drag King, Sauvage, will be reading some of our favorite stories about what makes each of us special. Story time begins at 1030!” the social media post in 2021 stated, per Judicial Watch.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton slammed the U.S. Air Force for using taxpayers’ money on such events.
“How on Earth is it appropriate to spend our limited defense dollars on promoting these sexually themed events for children and adults rather than on advancing the military’s mission. As we see in these troubling Air Force records, our nation’s military is being ruined by woke ideology,” Fitton said, per Judicial Watch.
Marine veteran and North Texas resident Aaron Rocha also criticized the U.S. Air Force for focusing on the wrong issues.
“There was a time when the military focused on the team, the unit, the GOAL, and now it seems like they have done a complete 180 and are weakening the men and women who serve this country by dividing them with this ridiculous DEI ideology,” Rocha told The Dallas Express.
“How does this help the armed forces?” Rocha challenged.
The Dallas Express contacted the U.S. Air Force and received an email response that stated the following:
“Consistent with Secretary Austin’s 2023 congressional testimony, the Air Force will not host drag events at its installations or facilities. Commanders have been directed to either cancel or relocate these events to an off-base location, provided [sic] no DoD funds are used for off-base drag events. Hosting drag events in federally funded facilities is not a suitable use of DOD resources.”
The U.S. Air Force has a habit of trying to host drag queen-related events on base, as The Dallas Express has reported.
In 2023, a U.S. Air Force base in Nevada canceled an all-ages drag show planned for Pride Month.
The Pentagon ordered the event to be shut down, citing that it was “not a suitable use of federal funds and resources.”
The year before, another June “Drag Queen Story Time” for children to be held in the library of a U.S. Air Force base in Germany was also nixed after backlash.
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) sent a letter at the time demanding the Air Force secretary cancel the event and “take appropriate disciplinary action against all involved.”

-also basic passages emphasizing again and again the need for humility, honesty, and sound words.....all virtues which Trump is bereft of. St. Paul warns of those "given to change" (inconsistency) and of those involved in extortion and excess.
Weird how the respondent to the OP knows so very little about liberal Christianity and those involved in Civil Rights and social justice movements in the last 100 years.
......or even those in the last 12-like those busloads of nuns who stood up to Paul Ryan's anti-charity rhetoric, Stephen Colbert (a practicing Catholic and former Sunday School teacher) inviting liberal priest James Martin to refute Glenn Beck's attacks on social justice, the pastors who stood up to Jeff Sessions during the draconian separations and incarcerations at the border super-charged by the Trump administration, the elderly nuns willing to get arrested at the border, the Mennonites protesting the murder of George Floyd, the churches that took in and gave sanctuary to BLM protestors being attacked by the police, or the movements created by liberal Christians protesting the exoneration of William Barr or Amy Coney Barrett.
....but then again, the respondent is a typical trolling BS-er hoping to reel in immature mindsets here on Tumblr, which is why I don't cast pearls and why I blocked them a long while ago.
EDIT-to add, what we see now with conservatives lashing out at "SJW"s, is no different then 60s activists being slandered as "bleeding hearts" by hardhat Joe types fueled by the "dumb person's smart man" rhetoric of William F. Buckley.
“My name is Jesus of Nazareth, and I approve this message.”

Paul McCartney Reveals Previously Unreleased Music Recorded with Jeff Beck in 1994
- Instrumental backs Beck’s Spoken Plea to Conserve Rainforests
As he mourns “a good friend of mine, and a great, great guitar player,” Paul McCartney finds himself looking back to a 1994 campaign for vegetarianism he did with Jeff Beck.
Beck, who died Jan. 10, recorded a radio spot and instrumental backing track with McCartney for the latter’s “Oobu Joobu”series of broadcasts. The music - a 90-second snippet which hasn’t been released until now - features Beck’s soaring guitar over a breezy rhythm that plays as the guitarist speaks of his concern for cutting down rainforests to create land for grazing.
“What worries me is what else we are killing besides the cows,” Beck says.
Citing then-contemporary statistics, Beck says nearly 25 percent of available medications were derived from tropical plants and 70 percent of flora with anti-cancer agents grow in rainforests.
“Yet, we are ripping up the rainforest - uncaring or oblivious to the fact that these forests may and possibly do contain plants that can provide a cure for leukemia or heart disease. Maybe even a cure for AIDS. Who knows?
“But it doesn’t make much sense to me to risk losing the possible discovery of a miracle cure just for a $1.50 hamburger,” Beck says.
Like Beck’s music, his “message remains as relevant as ever,” McCartney said in a statement.

Song Suggestions Wanted
My 16yr old (they/he) is currently in a youth residential treatment program after a psycotic break, planning to kill himself, and a stay in a psych ward. While they still can't have their phone they are now able to have a mp3 player. I'm putting together some playlists to put on the one I bought that's being delivered later today.
They asked for music I'm into as well as stuff I know they like but going through my & their liked songs a lot of it is too angst ridden and/or depressing. (It's almost like depression runs in the family.)
So I ask ~ what songs have helped you get through hard times? He's got an eclectic music taste so any genre is welcome.

Hello this is the same anon that talked about Eric Clapton. Another thing that I want to say is that I always used to watch the arms concert on YouTube. And I remember that when Jimmy would play, Eric would give him dirty looks. It irritates me because Eric dealt with substance abuse back in the 70s. Also at least Jimmy never went on a racist rant during one of zeppelins shows. What I’m saying is that I see people trying to excuse craptons racist rant with the fact that he was on drugs and alcohol. That doesn’t excuse it he has no right to say that. Because other musicians such as page had suffered from substance abuse, and the worst thing that would come out of it is his not so good guitar playing. Also he shouldn’t be in the top 3 best guitarists. It should be Jimi Hendrix Eddie Van Halen and Jimmy Page.
Agreed! Racism is one of those things that’s just inexcusable in the most black and white way. There’s no gray area. It doesn’t matter what substances you’re using or what the situation or time it is, you’re either a racist, or you’re not. There’s no excuse of racism and nothing to say to defend it. Anyone who makes it a non black and white issues and tries to defend it is also part of the problem. And he has carried his bigotry with him to this day. It wasn’t the time, it wasn’t substance, and it sure as hell wasn’t the environment because when the Beatles were preaching anti war, and Pink Floyd was wildly progressive and liberal, and Jimmy and Robert were protesting Nixon, Eric Clapton, from the same time and industry, was going on racist rants. Especially seeing him today, I think It’s absolutely safe to say Eric Clapton’s horrible ideologies weren’t because he was a man of his time or circumstances. And it also infuriates me when it gets lumped in with wild rockstar behavior. It wasn’t a one off occasion like many other questionable antics in the 70s, and it wasn’t ‘fun gone too far’ like Bonzo riding a miter bike in a hotel. People were hurt. Eric Clapton is just a horribly bigoted man, who gained a platform through appropriating the music of the people he was bigoted towards, and then used that platform to say horrific things about them. Its absolutely sickening.
About the ARMS tour, I never noticed that! I had heard a bit from somewhere I can no longer recall, about Clapton giving Jimmy shit during the ARMS tour, which I think I didn’t believe because it just seemed so shitty and juvenile, and seemed like middle school behavior, not established artist behavior? But nonetheless, if he was being an ass, that is just not nice? Being nasty to someone trying to recover from addiction is, once again, just a shitty thing to do. I’m sure it took a lot of courage for Jimmy to play in a major tour, knowing he wasn’t at his best and after everything that had happened, and I’m sure that Clapton wasn’t sounding all that wonderful when he took his hiatus when trying to get off of heroin. Again, just major asshole behavior.
And agreed, my top three guitarist will always be Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and David Gilmour

[Ranking Of Cozy music eras]
Well, as many of you know, Cozy did A LOT of things with many musicians and playing different styles. He appeared on at least 66 albums and counting another session work, some hidden works (Like Supertision and Ballroom Blitz) in total is nearly 90 things that he did! (that's why it took me so long, I had to listen to all again) but always one era will be better than other so... at the request of @thespiritofvexation (and I wanted to because is a excellent idea) here are the ranking of Cozy music eras.
Note: I'll try to be objective about this but also you'll get my opinion.
9. Whitesnake.
(As you can notice, Cozy's solo album is there. I put it because is in same era. I did this with all Cozy's solo albums 'cause the poor boy didn't have the time to make a proper solo career... he didn't like that very much anyway.)
Well first thing I'll highlight about this work... is the fact that his drumming is plain, so plain... for being Cozy Powell. You know, Blues rhythm, one bass drum and tomb with a little bit of cymbal... plain. But it's alright because the album needed that type of drumming (Not pun intended of course) I'm just saying that his drumming is so plain because the songs (Blues/Hard Rock) needed that, otherwise, it would have sounded a bit Rainbow-ish. Remember that Cozy was so versatile. He had a strong style but if the song needed the opposite of his style, he was going to do it.
Whitesnake era for me is not his best but LIVE. He on stage was another story. He was amazing.
Songs with Cozy's signature: Hungry For Love.
A side from Whitesnake we have his solo album which is one of his best works. Octopuss was a successful album. We have his mix between classical music and his drumming which is mind blowing. Hard Rock tracks like The Rattler, Formula One (Good one, Cozy) and Princetown and one ballad (Because he liked... a true sweetheart.) Dartmoore.
8. Michael Schenker Group.
His work here is what I like to call "Angry Drumming"
He didn't get along with Michael Schenker so they were fighting everytime. So all he did in this only album with MSG he did it angry... that's why is so good. He was "in mourning" trying to get over Rainbow so he had no better idea that making his drumming sound Rainbow-ish (I can relate) taking advantage of the situation that MSG was a heavy rock band. Not Rainbow, but still. There are a lot of Cozy's fills and Cozy's arrangements on the songs too more than Whitesnake.
Songs with Cozy’s signature: Attack Of The Mad Axeman, But I Want More and Feeling Like A Good Thing (Live).
Now, a side from MSG we have his second solo album. Tilt have jazz-fusion songs like Cat Moves. A rock tracks too like The Blister and Hot Rock. And with some funky thing like The Right Side with another ballad (Because he is a sweetheart) Sunset. Tilt was an anti-commercial album with a nice success. Also, the album have two “Dark” songs which are Living In A Lie and Jekyll Hyde (Inspired of course in Mr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde... Cozy’s favourite book... such a nerdy.)
7. Brian May Band.
We know how important Cozy was for Brian May’s solo career and Brian himself... (But I’ll not going to talk about this now, because I’m focused only on his drumming.)
Basically Brian told him “Be yourself, I don’t need a type of drumming” So that is what you listen when you listen those three albums... a free, happy Cozy. So powerful as always and creative. Of course Cozy had to be powerful because he was trying to cheer Brian up (He is so sweet). Believe me when I say that this is his best work in his last days! Its amazing the heavy-hand that he still had. For moments you think that you are listening Rainbow by the power of his drumming and the songs are completely stunning.
Songs with Cozy’s signature: Cyborg, The Guv’nor, Resurrection, Rollin’ Over.
Now, his solo album. The Drums Are Back was not a successful album with bad reviews saying that Cozy was recycling himself. I personally don’t think Cozy was recycling himself, I just think that he had his own way to do songs and make albums. In spite the bad critics and no success, the album was top ten in Japan.. HA! The Drums Are Back have really groovy songs like The Drums Are Back, Legend Of The Glass Mountain (He really never got over Rainbow..). Rock songs like The Rocket and Ride To Win. And three ballads (Because he is a sweet-... well you get it) Battle Hymn, Cryin’ and Somewhere In Time.
6. Peter Green Splinter Group.
This album is a proof of Cozy’s versatility and still young drumming.
He and Peter Green got along really well so their chemistry was reflected in the music and live performances (Unfortunately a very few with Cozy) Yeah, the whole album is basically blues, okay? But the thing is that Cozy, no matter how slow the blues was, he would let you know that was him playing the drums. And I need to say that: HE PLAYED BLACK MAGIC WOMAN WONDERFULLY... (just that, back to the point).
Peter didn't tell him how to play drums in Fleetwooc Mac’s songs, Cozy just did it and he did it fantastic. Also, his drumming sounded so young, so strong and with presence. Its mind blowing really because you don’t expect Cozy at the age of 50 playing strongly but he actually did. He did his drum roll thing with just one bass drum, he was still so noisy as always (I’m so sorry just this era puts me soft)
Songs with Cozy’s signature:Homework, Going Down.
And his solo-... oh... right... *Runs to bathroom to cry*
5. 80s Work.
Well, time to time (For not saying always) Cozy liked to participate in his friends’s albums when he had a little free time with the band that he was in at the time. I did this 80s work section here because I cant believe that amount of things that he did while he was playing in other bands (I mean, u r for real?)...I put the most popular ones but out there are a lot of unknown Cozy works in the 80s with several bands. I just felt that his 80s works deserved a position in the ranking. This is another proof of his versatility but, with a little of his style of course.
Songs with Cozy’s signature: Tender Babes by Jon Lord, Night Games by Graham Bonnet, Slow Dancer by Rober Plant, Believe by Tom Galley (Phenomena) Shakey Ground by Bernie Marsden, Running from The Storm by Gary Moore and well.. ETC (and many many etcs)
4. Black Sabbath
This is when Cozy turns his “Beast Mode” on.
I don’t know why, maybe because he knew what Black Sabbath was (Tony: Join my emo band.... Cozy: okay) and what it needed..? because that is his normal drumming..? (I'm sure that is his normal drumming.) But he literally blows your mind in every- fucking *wheezes* song. The three Black Sabbath albums are filled with unexpected Cozy's fills (No matter how many times you've listened to those albums, he is unexpected.) His beat is very heavy and very exact too. He was a fan of Bill Ward so I'll be not surprised if he tried to get that heaviness! (I mean, Cozy has his own heaviness but what I'm saying is that maybe Cozy wanted to make a proper Black Sabbath sound)
Songs with Cozy’s signature: Headless Cross, The Call Of The Wild. Basically all TYR and talk about Forbidden is forbidden... (I’m joking. Is a good album too)
3.Jeff Beck/ RAK
Well, for start I put them together because when Jeff Beck Group disbanded, the following year he signed a contract with Micky Most and RAK. So, he was a secessionist, a well-known secessionist. He was in the circle for someone who needed a powerful-jazzy style. It’s like the 80s works really (omg Cozy get a grip). He was a really demanded drummer, everyone wanted him and he eventually worked with everyone. He had a very well-known beat by that time, you easily can tell was Cozy but he also had to be more open to the different styles that he was asked to play (Basically he can’t play like him all the time). He also had some discredited stuff, like Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet (It’s so obvious) and Superstition by Steve Wonder (I know, I know that it says Stevie played everything BUT NOT IN THIS CASE DON’T BELIEVE HIM. What you hear in the song is Cozy playing.) and more like some Suzi Quatro’s songs.
Songs with Cozy’s signature: Ballroom Blitz, Superstition, Cosmic Wheels, Band Of The Salvation Army Band by Tony Ashton and Jon Lord.
Now his solo stuff: Here comes his baby, his household, his precious treasure, his (okay you get it) Dance With The Devil single. It’s a friendly instrumental which they did for a laugh but it became seriously successful... (Yes, they didn’t mean to do it but they did) Micky Most ask to Cozy if he wanted to be a single and Cozy said yes thinking that it was not going to be a big deal but *BUM* 1 Million of copies sold (Literally Cozy stayed at home two days laying looking at the ceiling because he can’t believe it) Of course they did the Dance with the devil part 2 which is Man In Black but it didn't work as well as the first one. They did Cozy Powell’s Hammer but it was kinda a fail too although the band had several tour dates.
This is when Cozy met his lost brother (okay no) This is when Cozy tried his best to play good jazz but instead came up this.. jazz fusion-rock-weird thing. So the thing here was: Jeff didn't know how to explain Cozy what the wanted him to play and Cozy was getting mad about it (Jeff: You can do ta.. tatada tss, ts ts ta da ta... Cozy: Honestly Jeff wtf?) so he did what he thought was better for the record and Ta-Da! Rough And Ready was born. Cozy’s drumming is a bit lighter and he uses a lot the cymbals for a swing-jazz rhythm.
Songs with Cozy’s signature: Going Down, Ice Cream Cakes, Situation, Short Business.
2. Rainbow.
(Omg Martina are you fcking crazy????) Yes I didn’t put Rainbow in the first place...A new hope for Cozy (This sounds like Star Wars movie or something)
Okay, this is one of his best eras because he was all recovered of his disappointment in music business in 1975. He literally gave up with music (poor babe) until Ritchie called him (Ritchie: Join my emo band... Cozy: okay) . He was ready and decided to show that he wasn't a poor drummer... and he did.He played all his tricks, he was so unpredictable and powerful. He actually was lead drummer (I’m not sure if that exists) He didn't played with the bass like a normal rhythm section, he played with Ritchie. Cozy live with Rainbow was so unbelievable, like the unexpected fill in Catch The Rainbow, Man On The Silver Mountain... To be honest, the first Rainbow album sounds so plain without Cozy, it’s like.. something is missing (Basically Cozy changed the band). His beat is so heavy, strong and incredible. Also his 1812 Overture which is just mind blowing. He was a happy Cozy in Rainbow, that’s why he played so brilliantly (and he was Ritchie’s goal friend... what is better than that?) Cozy did an amazing job in Rainbow... (No words...)
Songs with Cozy’s signature: Stargazer, Run with the Wolf, Mistreated (Live), Lost In Hollywood, Eyes Of The World, Gates Of Babylon, Light In The Black, All Night Long and.. all.(Literally all)
Now, his first solo work: Basically he had nostalgia for Hammer and the press still had bad relationship with Cozy saying things like “He is just Dance With The Devil and nothing more” so Cozy want to make an album so fantastic to shut them up. He called to his friends and all was ready... but they needed a bassist so Cozy took his chance and asked Jack Bruce if he can play in his album (Cozy was such a Cream/Jack fanboy.. he was almost his male crush lol.) Fortunately for Cozy, Jack said yes and they recorded it. The album had a fantastic success, extremely high success. The album had fantastic songs like Theme One (Courtesy of George Martin), The Killer, El Sid, Heidi Goes To Town and one sweet ballad (Sweetheart) The Loner (Dedicated to Jeff Beck... That is actually very cute).
1. ELPowell
(ARE YOU JOKING?????) No, i’m not joking and i’ll tell you why. Also this is when Cozy became a prog nerd.
The only one reason that I chose ELPowell as best Cozy music era instead of Rainbow... it’s because he stepped out of his Comfort Zone. This is the REAL proof of Cozy’s versatility. He did amazing things in Rainbow yes but in the end was rock and roll... This is different, this is progressive rock (I don’t really care about Progressive people’s discussion about 80s progressive rock... I’m talking only about Cozy) and Cozy didn’t know a THING about progressive and he still did it amazing. Of course, he took what Carl did and he simplified it to carry it to what he can do... and he did it very well. He had to learn all the ELP’s songs studying them (That’s when he accidentally listened to all elp discography and some Genesis, Yes and well... he became a nerd) He started to experiment with new percussion instruments that Carl used before.. (Like those bells that you hit them with a little hammer... no? okay) He became a KONG BOY too. He literally learned a whole new drumming style but of course with his Cozy sound. Tarkus played by Cozy is amazing, and when he is doing the Congas in From The Beginning kills me every time (That tank tee and those muscles...) and those drum solos...(Damn) they are really something else. And this is the same case of Rainbow.. he was recovering from his disappointment in Whitesnake so he was so enthusiastic about playing with Keith and Greg.
Songs with Cozy’s signature: Touch and Go, The Score, Mars the Bringer of War.
THIS IS THE END... GOD this took me an eternity and I explained so much i’m so sorry this is not going to happen again. This is the first and the last time that I’ll make a large post! (For my own mental health) This is so large, I didn’t mean to, sorry! Nobody will read it to the end but I don’t care... and if you do thanks very much this costed me two nights <3 (And sorry if there are any grammar errors)
