YEAH YOU GET IT. they act like it’s a Fiyero thing but it’s not. Glinda did it first and differently/better. It’s also why I hate “you’ve been Galindafied/you don’t have to do that you know” like. all Glinda is doing is letting other people see the beauty in Elphaba she’s not trying to change her.
Popular is such a song bc it acts like it’s gonna be the classic take off glasses + let down hair = sudden beauty but that’s really not what they’re doing. because Elphaba’s green. the makeover does not change the fact that she is green which is the only impediment to her being seen as pretty. Glinda doesn’t suddenly make her pretty. Glinda just places Elphaba within a framework she understands so she can see the beauty that was always there. Glinda’s “you’re beautiful” is not her bragging the way she does throughout the rest of the song, it’s not her going I made you beautiful. it’s her being genuinely stunned by the realization that Elphaba is beautiful and always has been. Glinda just needed to place her within a familiar framework (makeover, makeup, accessories) to see what was always there.
#wicked#salix talks#I am not a Fiyero or Fiyeraba anti at all I just wish they did them justice in act 1 bc they really. don’t.

so,i just realized what irks me with fiyeraba,,
just lemme take this out off the way, i didn't read the book - and i dont plan on doing so ‘cause im lazy as fuck- so its musical fiyeraba,anyways....
besides feeling that fiyeraba kinda comes out of nowhere (like i know they cant spend too much time developing the relationship its a live show, other things needs to happen,we understand!),its the fact that fiyero was glinda’s boyfriend that piss me off,,,like ‘im with this girl bUT HER B E S T F R I E N D caught my attention, and i think im falling in love with her,but im so NOT breaking up with my girlfriend!’ and then elphaba becomes a wanted criminal disappears for like years, fiyero in love with her while STILL BEING WITH GLINDA,they get engaged (that one is on glinda, but he still accepts)then elphie is all BIBBIDI BOBBIDI BOO IM BACK! AND WHAT HE DOES????FUCKING RUNS AWAY WITH ELPHABA WITH THE LAST THING FIYERO SAYS TO HIS FIANCEE (that rightfully assumes they are cheating fucks i would assume the same girl) IS ‘’well,it was...but it wasn’t...’’ THATS NOT A EXPLANATION LIKE WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUCK UUUURRRRRGHHHHHH,,,,THAT PISS ME OFF SO MUCH ( i know i know, later glinda is all ‘’ he loves her more’’ or sumn) THE POINT IS why w h y WHY didn't you just wrote fiyeraba from the beginning without all that stupid ass love triangle drama,so this ship wouldn't feel so fucking DIRTY ,, and I KNOW ITS NOT, and its very unfair to the ship but it really irks me.
#they run off like fiyero didnt spend the last years fucking glinda#like????#i dont know about yall#but i would feel so BETRAYED if my fiancee left me for my best friend#its not a fiyeraba bashing but i will tag like it so i wont be attacked#anti fiyeraba#wicked the musical

Imagine how good it would be if Netflix based a series upon Gregory Maguire’s ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.’
That novel really does have everything Netflix does well in producing:
YA coming of age? Wicked has you covered.
Political allegories/Critical view of modern Western politics? It’s is Oz, so Wicked has you covered.
Pathetic villain with more ego than power? Meet Maguire’s Wizard of Oz.
Real villain that definitely read Machiavelli’s ‘The Prince’? Madam Morrible loves her literature.
Anti-hero with villainous tendencies? Oh, hey, Elphie.
Queer representation? Crope and Tibbet are the stars (and they fit perfectly within the problematic ‘bury your gays’ trope).
Queer coding/Queer baiting? Cute, popular blonde girl is forced to room with awkward, antisocial tall girl, and they form an ill-fated unusually close friendship that dominates the rest of their lives… I think Glinda and Elphaba more than cover it.
Shipping? Netflix love a good ship war, and the Gelphie (Glinda/Elphaba) vs Fiyeraba (Fiyero/Elphaba) debate has been passionately argued since the early 2000s, so again, Wicked has that covered.
Bonus/follow-up series:
Season 2 - ‘Son of a Witch’ (never hits the heights of season 1, but there’s more explicit queer rep in Liir and Trism. Plus, loyal Gelphie shippers will return to watch how poor Glinda lives the rest of her life in Elphaba’s name.)
Season 3 (Limited 3 episodes) ‘A Lion Among Men’ - (a pretty boring main plot, but creators will love destroying that queer rep that basically made their show. Sorry Liir and Trism, no happy ending here - but Liir, you get a child as compensation. And, Glinda, sorry, you’re far too much of a lesbian to ever be happy, so we’re just going to enjoy torturing you until the end. Here, woman who could never conceive despite wanting to be a mother, raise the granddaughter of the only person you ever loved)
Season 4 (‘Out of Oz’) - by this time creators surely realise that their femmeslash ship was the backbone of the show… They can’t make Gelphie canon, so let’s introduce a new incarnation that’s basically the same if you squint; enter Rain and Tip. But here’s the twist, we’ll have the obvious gay moments appear straight; we’ll make Tip a long-lost Princess trapped as a boy, and when their identity is revealed, we’ll split them up. And Glinda? Let’s kill her off in typical ambiguity- did Elphaba come and save her, or come and take her to the afterlife? Who knows…)
Season 5 (‘The Brides of Maracoor’ and the ‘Another Day’ series) - Lmao, we’ll never know if Rain and Tip reunite, or find out what happened to Glinda for certain - or anyone else - because Netflix will cancel the series after the backlash over season 4.)
#This has been on my mind for too long#ngl#I’d kill for this#(I’ve got the whole cast worked out in my head)#Sort of like The Crown#where the actors change every season to reflect time jumps#Lilly James and Natalie Dormer for Glinda#Natasha Negovanlis for Elphaba#and I might as well throw Kristin and Idina in there#because I’d 100% want Glinda’s dreams/flashbacks in ‘Out of Oz’ to be shown#and Miriam Margolyes has to be Madam Morrible#(and Fiyero’s race and Nessarose’s respective heritage and disability must be accurately portrayed)#wicked#Gelphie#fiyeraba#gregory maguire#Netflix

Don't know if this makes much sense, but
I can imagine/like imagining Mon-El and Kara as Elphaba and Fiyero in "As Long as Your Mine", but Karmel is still sparkless/platonic to me :/
