Hi! I found your account through The Acolyte and just wanted to say I love your art and hope you don’t mind this long message (it got too big for a response).

Part of my reaction to the newest episode might be rose tinted glasses for Sol (because I was worried about his character going in) but my first thought to the whole conflict between Indara and him read to me as “old school” vs “new school” Jedi thinking.

In The High Republic we’ve met and made reference to many Jedi Wayseekers, who are still Jedi but follow the force’s guidance vs the direct council. At the time of this show we seem closer to the Phantom Menace mentality than anything, where I don’t know if that was really still a thing without someone just straight up leaving the order.

So to me it felt - albeit clunky like everyone else discussed - like Sol wanted to just follow the Force because he sensed this connection and had to keep coming up with excuses to justify it to Indara. But because the council said “no” she felt that was (understandably, and respectfully) the right choice.

It also felt parallel to Qui-Gon Jin - which the whole “Anakin was too old”, and the revelation of the twins birth are also harkening back to throughout the series.

“Choice” was a great (heartbreaking) name for this episode because there really are so many moments where if one person had just chosen differently, the outcome would have ranged so much and maybe not ended in such a tragedy.

I've not read THR book to get that reference tbh (im only a few pages into Light of the Jedi). And frankly, from a visual storytelling standpoint, if that was the intention of the writer to link back to that old school THR Jedi thinking, then they should've made it clear or at least hinted in the show so ppl who are not THR readers know oh there's sth up w this too and then go find out more for themselves. Again, clunky writing and short running time make everything worse.

Not related but there's a theory that Indara didn't call the Council cuz there was no data saying that Osha has a twin. Interesting detail if that is true haha. And again hammering that even if it was w good intentions, they all made questionable choices that led to tragedy and forever harmed the children's future.

I dislike the execution, but I like the idea and that it gave the characters more depth. This made Sol even more interesting to me, way more than Qimir now even. Even tho he's written so ooc here imo, he's still so intriguing and makes me actually think and analyze his character. The worst thing you can do to a character is make them so boring and 1 dimensional that the viewers just forget about them after the show is over lol (which, frankly, a lot of these characters are).

YES YES ALL OF IT!! PLEASE ALLOW ME TO BREAK DOWN THAT SCENE BECAUSE RENT FUCKING FREE

first we have pat voicing his thoughts, being honest about how he feels about the time they’ve spent apart and of seeing pran playing their song with someone else.

i’ve been saying for a while now that i really wanted to see pat’s pov, mostly because i wanted sincerity from him. unfiltered. and we got it here while he’s trying to communicate with pran. that made me so happy!

then he drops the question™️ but notice how hesitant he is about it. he does NOT want to be friends with pran but he needs to know if that’s what pran wants from him

NOW LOOK AT HOW DEVASTATED PRAN IS BY THAT QUESTION!! it’s not even that he doesn’t want to be friends with pat, he just CAN’T. he’s too in love with him and keeping him close but not being able to touch him hurts pran too much. he’s legit at his limit!!!!

(as i’ve said last week, either marry pran or fuck off forever aksksks) so he throws the question right back at pat

and then they both lean in!!!! they both know that this is inevitable!!! that this is the unexpected middle where they were born to meet each other!!

and if that was the end of the kiss, i would’ve still been very happy!

BUT AS I’VE SAID BEFORE!!!!! aksksksjsj ohm and nanon know their characters far too well, they know that the boys have been waiting FOREVER to finally kiss and if allowed (and they were) they WOULD give a proper good kiss.

I just read the last page of the comic and I have so many feelings. It's probably one of my fave pieces from you (and that's saying a lot because I love like everything you do and especially the Magicstone works) now. One thing though that hit me when I reread part 2 was that, timing wise, Goostave's argument was the last time he spoke to his mother and just kind of cements further the difference between her and Elvira, who didn't even get any 'final words' with her daughter. Just, so many feels

yeah, I also wanted it to be more unstandable why we never hear anything about Gladstone’s relatives from the Gander line- after that argument I figure they, and he, practically cut themselves off from one another. He kept his Gander surname because it keeps him connected to his father (and also prolly a little out of spite).

Sorry for a completely unrelated-to-Cipher post, but as some of you may know, for the past 3 weeks I’ve been trying to save up enough money for a Switch. Well, today I finally was able to go out and get my Switch and it was all thanks to the supporters from here, as well as Facebook and Discord!

We've ragged (deservedly) on Pran's mom but like. Pat's dad reminding us that he sucks too. When they were washing the car (and I for a moment forgot this bit from the preview last week) I thought "huh maybe he's not as bad- just kidding. There he goes. He even threw down the hose, alright then." I hope Pat gets to speak up for himself too (when he told Pran about how "he's never said that before" about being disappointed that hurt me heart) and they tell both parents off.

yep!! you know, it’s so funny to me when parents are like “i never intervened in your life because i thought you knew what was best for you” when in reality they’ve been pressuring you for YEARS to be EXACTLY what they want you to be, to the point where you just molded your personality and dreams around what your parents want for fear of disappointing them because they always praise you so much and act like you’re great because you keep following by Their rules and THE MOMENT you do something that goes remotely against your parents’ wishes you’re suddenly the worst child ever and that just crushes you so hard because you’ve spent your life being the good child and overnight you’re not anymore and then you don’t even know who you are anymore, all because you took a step into a different direction, towards something you Actually want, instead of anyone else.

pat’s father has the Same issue as pran’s mother in that area. they think they’re being good parents but they’ve been keeping their children on a leash for years, traumatizing them, making it Impossible for them to communicate what they want and in the end who’s gonna take the fall? the children. pat and pran.

because how dare they have their own dreams and feelings? how dare they want to date each other? how dare they exist in a way we don’t agree with?? like. you put them in this world!! they have the right to exist in whatever way they want! your job as a parent is to guide them, listen to them, not command them or take away their free wheel entirely!

they’re your kids but they don’t belong to you!!! you have to let them live their lives!! you have to RESPECT them!!!

anyways. sorry for the rant, i just have a lot of feelings when it comes to bad parents. i’m not a parent but i just can’t stand these things.

and YES. i’m dying for the moment pat and pran speak up for themselves. i wish they would scream and cry and just make a whole scene so maybe their parents would stop and finally SEE the damage they’ve been doing but like, whatever. i just really hope they get to live their lives in the way they want and deserve eventually.

We didn’t see this happen with anyone else. Maybe in this “Afterspark” Ten is being reformatted to their original self? Cause weren’t the Enforcers originally other Cybertronians?

Going by what’s said, we didn’t see this happen with anyone else because no one else is emotionally/spiritually prepared for the next level. Swerve and, to a more subtle extent, Cyclonus both recognize what happens to him and it checks out with what Pipes and Trailguy explain. Exactly why Ten is so very prepared to move on-- beyond the narrative purpose of demonstrating how this afterlife works and possibly setting us up for a scare later-- is beyond me.

Ten’s speaking would, I imagine, be related to having been rebuilt from someone else (assuming we’re both remembering that correctly), though I’m still scratching my head over what triggered it.
