Yankees declined their 2025 option for Anthony Rizzo. Jed Hoyer, be decent for once and let the man retire in actual pinstripes (we had them first, Yankees)
CAN YOU IMAGINE!? like, i’ve learned not to expect anything from the front office so this sounds like a pipe dream lmao, but I WISH.
honestly, it’s what he deserves. let him be a platoon hitter. help uncurse our first base. be a great mentor on and off the field for the younger folks. RETIRE IN THE CITY THAT WILL ALWAYS LOVE HIM!!!!!!! 😭
jed hoyer, if you’re reading this, you know what to do.

Day 299: Friday October 25, 2024 - "A Freddie Freeman"
Started a new tradition tonight with William that I surprisingly fell in love with myself - I had saved 5 or 6 packs of 2024 baseball cards from mid-season for tonight - for the start of the world series, to pull out and open with William. Even if I got his attention for a half minute with it, thatd be fun. But as it was, with the first inning on the TV, and popped corn in the bowl, we sat and opened two packs together. In it, he pulled a Riley Greene card - way to go! I was excited for him, exactly what I needed - thank you baseball gods! I found his little collection box in his closet and opened a few more packs myself, what an old nostalgic dopamine hit!!! How fun! As I opened one deck, Stanton launched a magestic Home Run that stood to be the difference in the game until the 9th. Would be cool if I pull a Stanton card after that, I said. No - Stanton, but I got a Freedie Freeman, maybe he'll be the hero tonight.!"
The thought of a hero was on my mind, in this old timey historic baseball matchup. I had decided I didnt care for anything more from these two teams than just 7 good historic games that gets decided by a no name pinch hitter and a journeyman reliver and somebody wins in a way we call and talk to our friends about.... Its been a fun baseball season. I hope something really great for baseball happens in this next week. Something that everyone can love - even if it is LA and NY. Audrie was giving me some (admitted) pregnancy grump and I had a great idea - "you need to open some baseball cards!" YEA! I loved watching her flip through her pulls and pronounce the names of the guys. Just like a kid - to see who'd you get and how pretty and special they are. I fell back in love with this old forgotten feeling. What a neat trick. Especially at the end of the baseball year, when all but the most important part of the story has been told, but all the characters have been developed and we just need to see how it ends. Audrie pulled an Anthony Rizzo and it made her smile and I thought that was really great. "He's good right?" Totally, I affirmed. He's right there batting right now! And how loved am I, that here's my tired pregnant wife, that understood my enthusiasm and put on a baseball shirt for the world series.... I didnt even do that! I love her so much and it was fun watching with her and Deni (a Dodgers fan).
The game wound up tied in the 9th, as we navigated William's bedtime, and in the 10th the Yankees played old school national league small ball to get in a run. Buth in the bottom of the tenth, Shohei Ohtani loomed large with an opportunity to tie it....but it wasn't Shohei who'd be the hero tonight...itd be Freddie Freeman instead, with two outs and a no doubter to right field. A Game 1 Walk Off. The first ever walkoff grand slam in World Series History. First in History. Check. Game 1 delivered.
And it wasn't long before I was seeing on social echos of the same thing I was telling Audrie about - about Gibson's shot to Right Field against the Athletics in 88. It was my first memorable sports moment. She watched it with me as I told her vividly how my Uncle Ryan was babysitting me and let me stay up late to watch it. It was probably the first real sports moment for me like that, you know because sports wasn't on TV all the time like it is now. I shared with her that probably more than anytihng up to that point, Boxing was the sport most watched in my house. "Really?" ABC Wide World of Sports - yea it was a different time! But imagine how my Uncle Ryan would have been energized by the moment as it built - this Spartan of his generation who 4 years before led the Tigers to the Championship and now here he was hobbled in LA doing something dramatic - a disney moment, and probably the first time I was ever moved by Sports. Audrie and I watched that long at bat, how Gibby fouled off pitches and worked the count, and then launched a shot to the almost exact spot in the right field bleachers as Freeman's tonight. A Game 1 walkoff. It was uncanny. You know, I pulled a Freddie Freeman tonight? Now thats special... A good way to kickoff this world series tradition. A game Id call my friends about in the morning. William came out from his bath with Grammee and wanted to see the end of the game and sat with me after I backed it up and watched bright eyed as Freddie popped his homer and held his hand up in the high and started to run the bases. William promptly squealed and ran around the house. The Dodgers celebrated and we all agreed, I guess we're cheering for the Dodgers this year. Beacuse that was pretty cool.
Song: Shakey Graves - Dearly Departed
Quote: “You're not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You're by no means alone on that score. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them-if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry.” ~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

Anthony Rizzo #3
Requested by Anon:  Do you think you could do another Anthony Rizzo imagine? Something like where he asks you to be his girlfriend after you ask him why he was jealous that someone else was flirting with you? Love your imagines💕 keep up the good work! 😊
*HIII! Thank you so much for this, you all know I love our MLB boys. This is not as angsty as you might have wanted but it’s cute and I love it. I hope you enjoy this one. :)*
Word count: 854

The solid bang of the car door broke the silence but not the tension that has been following you and Anthony Rizzo for more than twenty-four hours now. With the way he frowned and muttered under his breath, you’d think he didn’t just hit a home run that clinched their win. He looked like someone just told him he was now forbidden to play baseball. And if you go by the way he was pouting, you’d say a five year old just outsmarted him in Scrabble.
“Okay,” you turned to him before he had the chance to drive off, “tell me what’s up so we can fix whatever it is that’s bothering you.”
He quirked an eyebrow at you, his lips forming a thin line, “what?”
Squinting, you gave him your Sherlock Holmes-esque stare, “I know you, Anthony Rizzo,” you wagged a finger at him, “what’s bothering you?”
“You know you have to tell me what’s up, right? Eventually?” you reached out to touch his arm, “it’s not that hard, boo, we’ve shared feelings and emotions before.”
You have known Anthony Rizzo for as long as he has loved baseball. Fun fact: you actually met on the first day of a sports camp for the littlest of kids. He was this bushy eyebrowed boy who just kept on running around and you were the little girl who stopped him by smacking him with a plastic baseball bat.
You tell people that’s how his love affair with baseball started; Lord knows that’s how your love affair with him started… not that he knows that or anything. You’re just his best friend.
Always his best friend.
“Is it the cancer?” you asked, voice as small as it could possibly be, you have always automatically thought of the worst. If you think hard enough, you could still taste the blood filling your mouth when he called you at two in the morning to tell you that he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
You’ve never wanted to quit college until you heard him say, “I’m scared.”
Back to the present, a very cancer-free Anthony Rizzo looked at you incredulously, “what the fuck, it’s not the cancer.”
You grinned, feeling like you just won the lottery, “so you are thinking about something,” leaning over to him, you smoothed the lines between his eyebrows, “you are bothered by something,” leaning even closer, you stuck your nose to his cheek, “tell me,” you pushed, “tell me, tell me, tell meeeee.”
Tony rolled his eyes before muttering something under his breath.
“What did you say?”
He huffed, “I said just go back to the boy with a blue shirt.”
Boy with a –
“Whaaat?” you scrunched your nose, looking at him to explain, “what boy with a blue shirt, like who even?”
OH.
MY.
GOSH.
“Stop it,” you laughed, playfully punching him, “Anthony Rizzo you are so funny,” you giggled even more, pointing behind you, “did you mean the guy who asked me if I knew where the bathroom was? The guy from yesterday?”
He scoffed, “he was so flirting with you.”
You leaned back, still grinning at him, “I didn’t know ‘where is the bathroom’ is code word for ‘girl, you’re hot’ now,” you shrugged, “you’re funny.”
For the first time in a while, he cracked a wacky smile, “he was flirting with you, you oblivious girl.”
“He was not,” you snorted, “he looked like a dad.”
He smirked, “what, dad’s can’t flirt now?”
You smacked him playfully once again, “shut up.”
“For the record,” he glanced at you before looking out at the road, “if I were a dad – a single dad – I’d totally flirt with you.”
“You’re crazy.”
He shrugged, “but you’ve always been oblivious, so okay.”
“I’m not oblivious.”
“Hmm,” he shrugged again, “you’re kinda dense.”
“I hate you so much right now,” you laughed, “I am not dense.”
He sighed, “my first foundation gala,” he started, “I asked you to come with me, remember?”
You smiled at the memory. It’s always a good time with Anthony Rizzo.
“And?”
“And you said,” he drawled, “it’s always a good time with my best friend.”
“It is, though,” you answered him softly.
Anthony looked at you, his eyes sweeping your face, “I’ve always wanted you to say ‘it’s always a good time with my boyfriend’.”
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.
“What did you just say?”
He gave you another soft smile, “potato, potahto, best friend, boyfriend, it works both ways.”
“Did you just say you wanted to be my boyfriend?”
Another shrug, like he’s not changing both your lives at this very moment, “I’ve wanted to be your boyfriend maybe for as long as I’ve wanted to win the World Series.”
Never in your life did you imagine that this would happen. Ever.
“Are you punking me?” you asked, sounding a little bit breathless.
“No,” he shook his head.
“Are you gonna ask me out?” well, you know, you’re not one to turn down this opportunity.
Anthony turned so he can face you fully, “do you want me to?” he asked, breathing slowly.
You nodded, like you were gasping for air, “yeah.”

Is there any fandom you regret exploring?
I want to say no, because of the connections I made with some people, over the years, and the chance to develop characters that honestly are like a part of me now.
Glee was honestly insanely toxic, but I have a close friend for 10+ years, and despite the fact that the actor is problematic, the character isn’t and I wrote Noah Puckerman for a very long time, and I will always have a little bit of him, in me.
Harry Potter, I have friends that I will love forever and I will love James Potter and Harry Potter and despise Severus Snape for all eternity. So much of me as a writer comes from writing James, for as long as I did.  He doesn’t come to me as easily as he once did, but James/Lily are my OTP of all OTP’s, and I would never have met @possiblypadme, who I could not imagine not knowing.
Sons of Anarchy could be a mess, but Jax Teller is my favorite fictional character of all time, and Sons of Anarchy is my favorite show. It was something that got me through a horrible time, so I can’t watch it easily anymore, but I love everything about Jax and met some wonderful people, again. I could not have developed Jax without having the Wendy and Tara that I did for so long, and am endlessly grateful to people like Vesta and Lisa, who I know how to find on Discord but not on Tumblr now lol.
Vikings could be a mess, but I played Ragnar, Bjorn, King Ecbert, Alfred, Hvitsert, Father Cuthbert, Judith, Aethelred,  I’m missing some I’m sure and I met some of the best people, and am actually really close friends with someone who was on Vikings. But, I would never take back by time in that fandom and I still do write Ragnar, Alfred, and Bjorn.  It gave me so so many people but so much development with @findablog and @contrecoeurs especially, along with a few others.
Star Wars, I am happy here, so I can’t say I have regrets. I’ve gone a little sour because of a few things, in the last couple weeks. Being gaslit and having people randomly soft block or block you out of nowhere is a weird feeling?  Sometimes, I feel like I want an exit interview but the unknown is better and there’s a situation that I’m just done crying over.
Baseball, which for me is the Cubs and the Yankees.  I was born a Cubs fan. My mom has been watching them since the 60′s. We broke a 108 year drought in 2016, and when they weren’t producing, the fucking piece of shit, moronic asseating upper management traded the core of the team, which also included the face of the franchise, the love of my life Anthony Rizzo. I’ll always love the Cubs fanbase but I’ll admit that they became a bunch of entitled assholes after we won the championship. We went from lovable losers to jerks.  But, I had to follow Rizzo to the Yankees, aka the Evil Empire.  So look, the Yankees fandom is toxic af, they threaten their players family and don’t know how to be loyal but my fave is happy there, so I have to support him. So, I can’t regret it.
Have you ever developed an OC for a certain fandom?
Yes. I developed Marlene McKinnon’s older brother Marcus in the Harry Potter Marauders Era. He’s basically the only one. Many people can make fabulous OC’s. I’m not one of them.
What are you looking for in a ship?
CHEMISTRY. I don’t like it without chemistry. I am well aware that Anakin has a canon ship, that he’s obsessed with, but if there’s no chemistry, I can’t and won’t write it.  It’s got to have that chemistry and dramatic pull.  I’m open to pretty much anything ship wise, but I have to have that chemistry.  He is 99% heterosexual so I do stick only to that, and Rex.  But, that comes to chemistry too.
Do you tend to focus on shipping or do you not care at all?
I’m somewhere down the middle. Anakin is the King of Attachment.  I can’t have him not get attachment to people, because it is who he is. His emotions consume him.  But, unless there is a significant amount of chemistry (like with Anakin & Sabe), it’s hard for him to fall in love with not Padme.
Also, I know everyone likes to think Vader has no emotions, but he’s capable of attachment too.
But, I’m not here to write ships. Anakin is just a horny mess, and things happen???? But, his development and complexity is my first goal.

Favorite MLB players?
Oh boy.. I have a bunch, but i’ll limit myself to top five. (in no particular order)
1. Christian Yelich- i feel like this one is pretty obvious.. but on the field he’s a fighter and a stud. off the field he is an amazing guy. his california strong charity with his teammates is just incredible too. also, his ig game is fire ngl
2. Anthony Rizzo- My CAPTAIN! as a cubs fan i have to love him. he is basically the heart and soul of our team. he always has a smile on his face, and just makes baseball fun. like his walk up song was “bad blood” by taylor swift for like two years. his smile is adorable, his puppy is adorable. all arouns good guy.
3. Mike Trout- i’m from jersey, he’s from jersey. his entire career he has been hof material and it’s incredible. like his numbers all around are actually insane. he definitely is someone special that we may not see the rest of our lives. also has a cute dog, too.
4. Freddie Freeman- a whole man. certified goofball. the reason why i root for the braves. i feel like he’s finally becoming a super star, and he deserves it. he is the face of atlanta, and i couldn’t imagine a better human being to be that.
5. Manny Machado- I know people don’t like him, but he was a huge influence for me when i played softball. I played third base, i wore 13. i wanted to be him. i literally would try to make the plays he made. so even if people think he has an attitude, i’m always going to have a soft spot in my heart for him.

Please describe for me another scenario in which Joble dresses super fancy that isn't a wedding. Because I'm v interested and im not gonna say that maybe this dressed up moment occurs during a Break (where they still cross pathz??? Lol @ that z. It didn't autocorrect and I'm gonna leave it) but according to the margarita(s) I had, maybe it does. No that Doesn't make sense. 🤔 BUT I WANT THEM DRESSED UP AND ANGSTY AND HORNY and I'd like your Input on this scenario.
👀🤔👀🤔👀🤔👀
Well an easy one is some kind of Event they/Jamie get invited to as the Commissioner’s Son. But I mean I already wrote that for Jamko and also I don’t know how it would work for them to run into each other in that context if they were on a break (WHICH UM,
Tumblr media
BUT ANYWAY).
We’ve seen Jamie in a suit for Work Reasons before. So there’s a possibility. 👀 he’s helping on some investigation OR MAYBE ON HIS WAY TO MEET WITH IAB re: the recent inquiry about his terrible judgment/behavior on the job as a result of recent events in his personal life that he struggles to move past. Maybe Jamie was walking past the Greenwich or otherwise moping at a Significant Location and oh hey, there’s Noble. I’m definitely here for that one yo.
Or here’s an Out Of The Box option and it’s not my favorite (aka I don’t know how this could be included from Noble’s point of view, and also gross @ Jamie doing anything Noteworthy without Noble by his side) but since we’ve had this Discourse about dress blues lately. Maybe Noble sees a picture of Jamie online/in the newspaper, attached to some article about how Jamie earned some medal or commendation for like, saving a dog (who will be played by our very own Good Boy, Anthony Rizzo of course). But no that’s dumb. Moving on.
Why could Noble be all dressed up? (Maybe it’s because I haven’t had coffee yet but if they’re on a break it seems tough to contrive them both dressed up somewhere and running into each other.) Is he making Unwise Decisions without Jamie to talk sense into him? A job interview in the city? They’d talked about him moving back, he lined up a few things and couldn’t bring himself to cancel even after he and Jamie canceled themselves 😭.
OKAY AND HERE’S ONE MORE just for your post margarita(s) brain. Vinny and Bianca. On their way down a Promising Road if your last chapter was any indication. And those lovebirds can’t handle seeing our boys alone and miserable. So they each work their own end and arrange a secret meetup. Fancy restaurant. Noble thinks he’s meeting Bianca there at the end of a busy day. Jamie thinks he’s dropping off some paperwork about a complaint filed by an employee, and he’s been promised a free drink for his troubles. He walks in, takes care of business, grabs a seat at the bar. He’s moping over two fingers of top shelf scotch when a familiar voice catches his ear. Jamie looks around but of course he’s not here. He asks himself if he’s going crazy, this being the third time in as many days he thought he heard Noble’s voice. But he hears it again, and that unforgettable laugh charming the hostess as she seats him. He turns and looks, but only because he needs to assure himself he’s imagining things so he can finish his drink in peace and head home.
But he wasn’t imagining anything. And there’s Noble, in a dark suit over a dark dress shirt, taking a seat at a dimly lit table across the room. And there’s a strong tug, a sensation Jamie’s convinced he physically feels in his gut as he shifts off his leather stool.... 👀👀👀👀👀

FBB 2022: Scrapping for 1st
Over the past two weeks, my team has slipped out of first twice, once by 3 points. Rick is working hard to make his team (108 Stitches) very competitive.  My team, though, my team has become less competitive. Franmil Reyes was so bad, he got DFA’ed by the Guardians and is not in the NL. So, that’s $23 that pretty much got wasted. Corey Kluber had been pretty decent for most of the first half, but he has gotten worse in his last 8 starts.  I put a question on FBT’s Facebook page as to whether I should cut him and pick up a surging Jose Suarez, but the two responses said no. One said Kluber had 10 quality starts this season. The problem was that those starts were at the beginning of the season. So, I dropped Kluber, but someone else has picked up Suarez. Next, I need to trust my gut and make the move. So, I got stuck with Chris Archer...again. Lance Lynn was also on the bubble for my team, too. His ERA is over 5.00, but he has been better lately and is striking out a player per inning. So, I’m holding onto him for now. Anthony Rizzo has cooled off some, dealing with a back injury. Andres Gimenez has been on fire and is approaching 15/15 numbers. I’m glad I got him over Rosario (who is playing well, too, but Gimenez has more power). Steven Kwan, while giving little power, is stealing bases. I picked up Nicky Lopez and he picked up 6 SBs in two weeks. Go Nicky. My $41 Trevor Story has been on the IL for the past few weeks with a broken wrist. With Reyes gone, I need Story’s bat in my line-up, but my expectations are tempered. On the pitching side, Luis Castillo has been great since I got him via FAAB. Alek Manoah has been very good. Martin Perez is coming back to reality, but is still over achieving. Sonny Gray has been solid, but not quite spectacular. One disturbing note is that Shane McClanahan is showing signs of slipping. Over the last 3 weeks, his ERA is approaching 5.00 and his K’s are well below 1 per inning. I would imagine he is getting tired and the Rays may start cutting his appearances.  On the closer side, I picked up Jonathan Hernandez and he has gotten me 2 saves. Gregory Soto has been a little rocky lately, but he is getting saves. There’s a month and half of baseball to be played and I’m currently up by 7 games. I hope it holds.
