Anthony's Stupid Daily Blog (835): Sun 30th Jun 2024

Bloody Hell, thirty five years old. The same age Mozart was when he died and the same age my friend Kevin Craggs was when he realised those mean kids at school were lying to him when they told him the reason a foreskin is called that is because if you don't wash it four times a day your penis will fall off. How in the name of fucking Christ am I already thirty five years old? It feels like only yesterday that I was in college studying hard…and it feels like only a few hours ago that I was in college pretending to study hard when in fact I was pissing about with my friends and trying my best to sneak a peak at the fit lasses arses. Thirty four has not been a bad year all things considered. Yes I'm still fucking fat as fucking fuck but I did manage to cross a few things off the old bucket list over the last twelve months namely going to AEW All In and finishing my Edgar Award winning book challenge. I also went to some kick arse gigs including Iggy Pop, Devo and Jane's Addiction. To my delight I got made permanent at work and to my utter surprise I got my first car which I wouldn't have predicted happening in a illion years because I'd sworn off driving over a decade ago but so far all has gone well. I went on my first ever solo holiday to Gran Canaria and went on my second ever solo holiday…to Gran Canaria which was even better than the first because this hotel actually had Wifi and fit lasses in bikinis unlike the first shithole I got stuck in. After years of hesitation I finally got to work on my tattoo sleeve adding images of Buster Keaton, my dog Lucy, Richie and Eddie from Bottom and Eddie from Iron Maiden to my left arm. I also got out of having to pay a £100 fine for fogetting buy a train ticket by pretending that the ticket was on my phone which had run out of battery…okay now I'm reaching but I am still incredibly proud of myself for that one. My main hope for year thirty five is that I finally manage to get my neck / spine / shoulder issues sorted out so that I get back to jiu jitsu because the inability to get back to sparring has created a huge hole in my life.

One of the artists i looked at was Tony Cragg born in liver pool most of his brutalist art uses things like concrete recycled materials and to create natural yet brutal sculptures which i find mesmerising and quite fun to look out, trying to follow the edges and ridges of the structures with the eye is confusing and quite entertaining.

I wanna include his style of statue making through the uses of colour and shape language, trying to create a more natural feel with rigid objects like bricks, metal, ceramic and other things like that.

Though obviously i would like to use more colours and shapes that i can relate to the area where i grew up around so instead of green i may use red, white or black.

Apart from that i would like to include more traditionally brutalist shapes like square's, rectangle's and triangles giving my piece a more industrial feel than a completely natural one.

İstanbul Modern, Beyoğlu’daki geçici mekânındaki ilk süreli sergisinde, Ferko’nun sponsorluğunda, heykel sanatçısı Anthony Cragg’i ağırlıyor. Sanatçının her dönemine ilişkin bir seçkiye yer veren “İnsan Doğası” adlı sergi, 23 Mayıs – 11 Kasım 2018 tarihleri arasında görülebilir

Çağdaş heykel sanatının en özgün, en yenilikçi sanatçılarından Anthony Cragg, İstanbul Modern’in geçici mekânında sanatseverlerle buluşuyor. Kültür ve sanata verdiği destekle dikkat çeken Ferko’nun sponsorluğunda, Birleşik Krallık İstanbul Başkonsolosluğu ve British Council katkılarıyla gerçekleşen “İnsan Doğası” başlıklı sergi için sanatçının da katılımıyla bir basın toplantısı düzenlendi.

Küratörlüğünü İstanbul Modern Genel Direktörü Levent Çalıkoğlu’nun üstlendiği “İnsan Doğası”nda, Cragg’in 1980’li yıllardan bu yana heykel sanatına dair sürdürdüğü denemeler, kapsamlı ve kronolojik bir bütünlükle bir araya getiriliyor.

Sergide, sanatçının erken dönem yapıtlarından duvar rölyefleri ve Cragg’in yıllardır çeşitli malzeme ve tekniklerle deneyimlediği “Erken Biçimler” ve “Akılcı Varlıklar” serilerinden örnekler sunuluyor. Ayrıca, malzemeye farklı bağlamlar kazandırdığı, sanatçıyla özdeşleşmiş eğilimleri yansıtan yapıtların yanı sıra, Cragg’in üretim sürecinin bir parçası olarak tanımladığı desenleri de yer alıyor.

Karaköy’deki yeni müze binamız tamamlanana kadar üç yıllığına taşındığımız Beyoğlu’ndaki geçici mekânımızda heykel sanatının en önemli isimlerinden Anthony Cragg ve yapıtlarını açılış sergimizde ağırlamanın mutluluğunu yaşıyoruz. Sanatseverler bir süre müzemize ev sahipliği yapacak olan eski Union Française binasındaki ilk süreli sergimizde, Cragg’in 40 yılı aşkın kariyerinin farklı dönemlerini izleme ve tanıma imkânı bulacak. Yapıtları dünyanın en saygın müze ve kurumlarının koleksiyonlarında yer alan Cragg, biçim, renk ve malzemenin sınırlarını zorlayarak yeniden tanımladığı heykel sanatına getirdiği çeşitlilikle çok katmanlı bir zenginlik sunuyor. İstanbul Modern izleyicisi Anthony Cragg ile daha önce koleksiyon sergilerimize dâhil edilen “Çirkin Yüzler” adlı yapıtla buluşmuştu. Dünyaca ünlü heykel sanatçısının bu kapsamdaki ilk sergisini İstanbul’la buluşturmamızı sağlayan değerli Ferit Meriçten ve Ferko’ya tüm sanatseverler adına teşekkür ederim.

Anthony Cragg, dünyanın yaşayan en önemli heykel sanatçılarından. Onunla ilgili yıllardır beni büyüleyen, kullandığı malzemenin sınırsızlığı ve malzemeyi bu kadar iyi tanıması. Onun bilime ve doğaya duyduğu ilgi, doğa ve insan arasında kurduğu ilişki heykel sanatıyla ilgili farklı sorular sormamıza, yeni keşifler yapmamıza neden olmuştur. Koleksiyonumuzda da çok önemli bir yere sahip olan Anthony Cragg’in Türkiye’deki en büyük dış mekân heykeli “Must Be” şu an Levent’te tamamladığımız Ferko Signature ofis binamızın girişinde yerini aldı ve binamızın sembolü haline geldi. Ferko olarak sanatla iç içe projeler yaratmak ve sanatın günlük hayatımıza değer katmasına olanak sağlayan projelere destek olmak bizim için her zaman öncelik oldu. Eylül ayında hayata geçireceğimiz “Ferko Sanat Alanı” oluşumuyla da bu misyonumuzu daha geniş kitlelere ulaştırma fırsatına erişeceğiz. Bu bağlamda, Anthony Cragg’in farklı dönemlerini,

sanat pratiği boyunca nasıl evrildiğini anlatan bu önemli ve kapsamlı serginin sanatseverlerle buluşmasına destek vermek bizim için çok anlamlı.

İstanbul Modern Genel Direktörü Levent Çalıkoğlu:

Anthony Cragg’in 40 yılı aşan kariyerinin her evresi heykel sanatına kattığı yeni fikirler ve kavramsal açılımlarla şekillendi, üretimleri her kuşağın merak ve ilgisi ile karşılaştı. Çağdaş sanatın disiplinlerarası dönüşümlerle yeni ifade arayışlarına evrildiği bu süreçte, Cragg heykel sanatının doğasını oluşturan kütle, boşluk, malzeme, ölçek gibi ayırt edici özellikleri kendi zamanının güncel fikir ve kavramları ile buluşturdu. Heykel sanatının tarihsel geçmişini referans alarak var olan hazır nesneden eşi benzeri olmayan üç boyutlu hacme uzanan, kendine özgü bir imge ve form dünyası oluşturdu.

Anthony Cragg kimdir?

Yapıtları dünyanın en saygın müze ve kurumlarının koleksiyonlarında yer alan Anthony Cragg 1949’da, uçak endüstrisinde mühendis olan babasının görevli olduğu Liverpool’da doğar. Sanatçı, 1966 yılından itibaren Ulusal Kauçuk Üreticileri Araştırma Derneği’nde laboratuvar teknisyeni olarak iki yıl çalışır. Böylelikle sanat okuluna gitmeden önce bilimle ilişki kurar. Sanatçının stüdyosunda bugün de sanatla ilgili kitaplar yerine paleontoloji ve biyokimya konulu yayınlar bulunur. Ona göre heykel ve bilim, fizik ve metafizik dünyaları düşünmeye yarayan birbirine denk ve birbirini tamamlayan vasıtalardır. Laboratuvar teknisyenliğinin ardından Cheltenham’daki Gloucester Sanat ve Tasarım Koleji’nde temel eğitime başlar ve ardından Wimbledon Sanat Okulu’nda 1969 ve 1973 yılları arasında üç yıllık bir lisans programına katılır.

1973 yılında Londra’da Kraliyet Sanat Koleji’nde heykel konulu yüksek lisans programına katılmaya hak kazanan Anthony Cragg, okuldaki heykel çalışmalarında, inşaat alanlarında temas ettiği “gündelik” malzemeleri kullanır. Kimi zaman tandem bisikletle tek başına Londra’da dolaşırken topladığı malzemeleri de bu süreçte değerlendirir. Sanatçı, öğrencilik yıllarını 1970’lerde heykel dünyasına egemen olan minimalist eğilimlere karşılık gelen bir içerik arayışı olarak nitelendirir. Cragg bu dönemdeki arayışı sonucunda biçime yoğunlaşan bir yaklaşım geliştirecektir. 1977 yılında hâlen yaşamını ve çalışmalarını sürdürdüğü Almanya’ya taşındıktan sonra Düsseldorf Sanat Akademisi’nde yarı zamanlı öğretim görevlisi olur. Kısa süre sonra bu kurumda tam zamanlı çalışmaya başlar ve 1988’den 2001’e kadar yürüteceği profesörlük görevini kabul eder. 2001-2006 yılları arasında Berlin Sanat Üniversitesi’nde görev alan Cragg, 2006 yılında Düsseldorf’a döner ve 2009’dan 2013 yılına kadar akademinin rektörü olur. Dünyanın farklı ülkelerindeki pek çok saygın kurum tarafından fahri unvanlar ve üyeliklerle onurlandırılan sanatçının yapıtları 1970’li yıllardan bu yana sayısız kentte sergilenir. 1988 yılında Birleşik Krallık’ın en prestijli ödüllerinden Turner Ödülü’ne layık görülen Anthony Cragg aynı yıl 43. Venedik Bienali’nde ülkesini temsil eder. 2007 yılında Praemium Imperiale Heykel ödülünü kazanır. Sanatçı farklı coğrafyalarda gerçekleştirdiği sergilerle heykel sanatı için yeni ufuklar açar.

Türkçe ve İngilizce hazırlanan katalogda, “İnsan Doğası” sergisindeki yapıtların görsellerine eşlik eden, Levent Çalıkoğlu’nun serginin kavramsal çerçevesini kaleme aldığı yazının yanı sıra, Anthony Cragg’in yazar Jon Wood ile gerçekleştirdiği söyleşi ile Paris’te (Sorbonne ve IESA) sanat felsefesi dalında öğretim üyesi, şair, sanatçı Demosthenes Davvetas’ın Cragg’in sanatsal pratiği üzerine kaleme aldığı metin de bulunuyor.

İstanbul Modern Mağaza’da sergi kataloğunun yanı sıra sergiye özel olarak hazırlanan bir ürün seçkisi de yer alıyor.

Çocuk ve gençlere yönelik atölyeler

İstanbul Modern Eğitim ve Sosyal Projeler bölümü tarafından sergiye paralel ve farklı yaş gruplarına özel olarak tasarlanan eğitim programlarında çocuk ve gençlere yönelik atölyeler de düzenleniyor. Sergi süresince paralel etkinlik ve sinema programları da sanatseverle buluşacak.

Tuned into last nights Collision which started off with the Blackpool Combat Club vs TMDK, Lio Rush & Rocky Romero. It was a good match but there was no build and no doubt as to who was going to win. Danielson, Yuta and Claudio don’t even have matches at Forbidden Door for Christs sake so it’s not like this was even building to anything. Since Naito and Moxley are going to fight at the pay per view could they not have had BCC vs LIJ while Mox and Naito watched on? Anywho the big story coming out of the match was afterwards Moxley got on the mic and cut a promo with a big booger on his nose. I think the major reason why the pay per view feels pointless is because most of the big former New Japan names are now IN AEW so it feels like it’s the big AEW names and the big former NJPW guys vs what’s left of the NJPW roster.

日本ではかなりマイナー。

でもこの曲は、かなりチャートを賑わしたから洋楽好きの人は、聴いたことがあると思う。(あとコアなゲーム好きも)。

宇宙ってかなり遠くの、遙か彼方の銀河系のお話だけど、Lyraには近くて、もっと内なる物と繋がっている気がする。

もっと身近で、貴方や私たちの内なるモノのことこそが、宇宙だってね。

Unpopular Opinion: The Japanese engine needs to be played by more Asian actors, CoCo is too much bossy and her inspiration from Coco Chanel is highly controversial, and the British engine needs more personality.

Favourite Actor

British Engine: Kevin Kohler, Luuk Hartog, and Anthony Cragg.

Bobo: Jeffrey Socia, John Williford, and Austin Garrett.

Coco: Molly McGuire, Jessie Angell, and Alexandra Regan.

Favourite Song/Scene

British Engine: I love his waddle and I love how he waves excitedly when Rusty comes on during crazy (this only applies to Brexit lol)

Bobo: I love his rivalry towards Espresso hehe

Coco: I love watching her in the race! That part her and Espresso are fighting each other.

Favourite Costume

British Engine: I prefer Brexit’s costume all the way. It just looks so nice with the colours and everything (apart from the gross neck tie)

Bobo: Bochum Bobo is my favourite! I also prefer when he’s just orange because orange is pretty.

Coco: I think she’s only had one costume? I like it though, very pretty.

British Engine: Brexit/Rusty and Brexit/Rocky 1.

Bobo: It HAS to be Bobo/Espresso. They’re literally husbands.

Headcanon

British Engine: I don’t know about the other engines but for Brexit I think he’s a bit of a germaphobe or a perfectionist. When I saw the show in March, I remember the gang messing with Brexit and he looks so frustrated as he brushed himself and fixed himself up. I’ve also noted that Brexit seems to be the only once who doesn’t really have any ill-will towards Rusty. At least the actor I saw, he always seemed reluctant to join in the taunting of Rusty which leads me to believe that he likes Rusty.

Bobo: One time he serves Espresso dried pasta from the packet instead of fresh and sauce out of a jar. Espresso wants a divorce.

Coco: I think the reason why Coco is so mean to Pearl and the other coaches is because she feels that coaches are inferior to her. Her being an engine makes her better if that makes sense.

Unpopular Opinion

British Engine: I prefer Brexit over the other British Engines. Prince of Wales and Milton Keyes just reminds me of a crusty old man 😔

Bobo: I don’t think I have any other than orange Bobo being superior 

Coco: I don’t mind her at all! It’s nice that we have a female engine now… though I miss Bobo
