The Stagemaster

(What's Kingswap?) Meet the Stagemaster, the main antagonist of this little Kingswap AU i've been cooking. The fellow who could have been Siffrin, had their life not taken a different path. In this post, I'll cover a bit about where he came from, their personality, what they're capable of, and other bits and pieces.

Well...maybe not everything. A fellow has to keep some mystery to himself.

As a blanket statement, this AU is just full on spoilers for 'In Stars and Time', and any content warnings that apply to the game apply to this post under the cut!

So...where'd the Stagemaster come from? How'd our Beloved Siffrin end up like this?

Truth be told, no one is born a villain, and the Stagemaster is no different. As I spoke a bit about it in the previous post, the Stagemaster starts in a different place than canon Siffrin; already a young adult, staying in Corbeaux before the Island is disappeared. Think of him as the equivalent of a university student away from home.

Awwww, look at them! So full of whimsy and so many thoughts in that little head of his! I'm sure nothing bad will ever happen to him ever.

He has a life, he has goals and desires, he has friends in Corbeaux (who aren't The Party we know), and he also has strange dreams but that's not a big deal.

Unfortunately, we know how this ends - The Fella Who Could Have Been Siffrin wakes up one day without a name, without any memories of where he came from, and a whole city and House of people who don't know him anymore. Sure, he has some memories, like why he was studying in Corbeaux, that he had people who he loved, but everything else is just swiss cheese in his head.

He doesn't take it very well.

At some point after the Big Forgetting, after trying to reclaim ANYTHING that's his (and failing miserably)...Not-Siffrin makes a request. A small, selfish wish...for just a little bit of control in their life.

You've heard of eating stars, but I present the thrilling sequel(?): Hugging a star so hard you shove it into your ribcage.

And so is born a stranger with nothing to lose and a general spite of having his life messed with...and a desire to mess with other peoples lives in some form of messed up retaliation. Crashing out and making it everyone's problem.

So, What is the Stagemaster Capable of? Is his gimmick still freezing time, or does he have a new skillset?

Both! But the focus for the Smaster is a new thing called 'Control Craft', inspired partially by ISAT Siffrin's view that he was controlling or puppeting his friends/family like actors...so, the Stagemaster takes that concept and makes it very literal!

He also has the floating Disembodied Hands because I Think That's Cool.

Well before the start of the Loops, and even earlier before the King starts his Time Freezy thing in the main timeline, the Smaster is living his best life, playing with their toys (the toys are other people.) He's sort of a travelling ghost, wandering at his whims to hone his skills, so he's messed with all sorts of places across several countries before even starting his grand torment of Vaugarde.

Vaugarde has it too good, in the Smasters opinion, so, he wants to just subject its people to being Crabs-In-A-Bucket and fighting among themselves before he freezes them. He's pretty petty like that.

The rarity of his Tears makes it a bit hard to do the freezing thing...so it's very convenient he is able to outsource them to this Suspiciously Present Sadness That Technically Shouldn't Exist In This AU!

What Kind of Person IS the Stagemaster, Anyways? What's Their Personality?

I'm going to be so real with you, reader, I just threw a bunch of villains whos vibes I really liked into a blender

But in all seriousness, I went with a more low down approach to the Stagemaster - the ISAT fandom generally likes focusing on the more Unhinged, Manic version of Siffrin we see from Act 5, and it's a good approach! I love unhinged manic Siffrin, but, I really wanted to explore the more quiet and avoidant aspects of both Siffrin and Loop (while still being theatrical and fun to watch), while also adding some new bits into them.

I will be so real with you, the Stagemaster is just fun to draw in general, especially peeled (Without the hat or the cloak)

Also...strangely...He knows a lot about the party. Weird!

Hey, I've read the Intro post to the AU, and there's this talk of the Stagemaster having a Big Form and a Little Form That Exists At the Same Time - whats with that? Are they Clones?

Not clones! But the same person with two bodies.

But...why does he need this?

You see...the Stagemaster did his whole Thing in Vaugarde, with ruining communities and friendships and stuff...and then went 'yeah, lets move on, time to do Dormont'. Unfortunately, for him Euphrasie, the Head Housmaiden, kind of planned in case he set his sights on the House of Dormont, and forced him to 'go loud' as it were.

Hey, do you also remember why there's so many locked doors in The House of Dormont in baseline ISAT? And the Party eventually figures out it was the Housemaiden's actively locking stuff up to keep the King in? That also applies to this AU.

Long Story Short: Euphrasie played him like a fiddle, put up enough of a fight to force him to Go Big Mode, and then before she was frozen, she activated the whole Orb Door dealio, trapping the Stagemaster in the House.

Even in an AU where Siffrin isn't the looper, Euphrasie still gets to be his metaphorical jailer. Because I think it's funny.

Sure, the Stagemaster could just sit on his laurels. He technically already won, the Time curse is spreading, Vaugarde will be trapped eventually...but so will he. And he would rather be Free than to Win, so...The Avatar comes into play, allowing the Stagemaster to pick up the pace of his Freezing Vaugarde thing, and to have some fun.

This also lets the Stagemaster have a presence in the Pre-Loop Orb Quest the Party goes on to open the Big Orb Door.

But uhhh...

yeah the smaller form is much weaker and the Smaster gets his ass kicked in a straight up fight, forcing him to be sneaky during Orb Quest Antagonism. Usually he cultivates and wrangles powerful Sadnesses for the party to fight.

Eventually, the party suspects that maybe the Stagemaster is weaker than everyone thinks, that he's hiding in the House of Dormont because the Party will easily defeat him, so he's stalling for time to freeze Vaugarde.

Yeah, he's turned the Party into a way for him to free himself. (Funny, then, that they're never getting out of this House anyways, because a certain long haired Knight trapped himself in a silly little Timeloop) (Unfortunately for Clovis, our swapped King...he's not the only one here who is aware of the loops. Good luck, Clovis!)

Living Harmony AU relevant character sheets/info: Harmony aka the "Tree of Harmony" Stygian Somnambula Starswirl the Bearded Shadow Lock is actually an official canon character from the IDW comics No. 51-53 and I really enjoyed his mini arc introduction enough to include him as a more significant part of my "Living Harmony" MLP AU animation project. When I found out he's a direct descendant of Stygian, one of the Pillars of Equestria, I had to find a way to work him in and give him a bit of an updated design to fit more into my story setting I have planned. My good friend Ori helped vector my finalized concept redesign in the very top image. Listed below is some character and story context for these sketches provided by my myself and Ori who's been a huge help in fleshing out the world building with this cast of characters I'm using in this AU so far. Shadow Lock's main abilities and canon backstory are expanded upon and/or flavored a bit differently here as well.

Stygian’s distant descendant, the last living branch in his family tree

Lives alone in his family’s castle after they retired to the town of Somnambula

Temporary antagonist to the mane 6 that stems from a fear of the Pony of Shadows returning to plague Equestria

Believed he was descended from a monster and desperately tried to erase any mention of the Pony of Shadows from written history

Was talked down from his history erasing spree by Twilight and ends up traveling around Equestria to find more info on the Pony of Shadows, without trying to erase the knowledge this time, and prevent it from returning

The symbol on the front of Shadow Lock’s cloak is his family crest that dates back to Stygian's time period.

There’s a glamor woven into Shadow Lock’s cloak that enshrouds its wearer’s face.

Shadow Lock’s special talent is the concealment and binding of dark magic. He can effectively bind malevolent “spirits” into vessels where they’re unable to cause harm. This can also be reversed as an unbinding spell. ("spirits" in this context are more like a culmination of lingering, concentrated dark magic that takes on a will of its own)

His family castle used to be quite “haunted”. It’s quieter nowadays, but he does have a large collection of miscellaneous items that most ponies would consider “cursed…”

Always carries a healthy stack of books on his person to read and use as a weapon. His spells can pull fictional characters and monsters from stories to fight for him

Created a spell that can trap a creature into experiencing a historical event on loop by using a small amount of written text. The spell can be broken by doing something significant enough that did not occur during the looped event in history.

Shadow Lock and Stygian are extremely hesitant to meet each other at first in present time. The mane 6 and Harmony step in as mediator eventually to help them work out their issues so they can reconnect as family

Much later in the story, Shadow Lock invites Stygian to live in his castle once their family relationship is repaired, the two becoming inseparable

Shiny knock out bug wooing breakdown while the rest of the stunticons stare jealously at the pretty (and fast!) bug.

They stop being antagonistic once they realize Breakdown isn’t like, leaving. Tho I’m sure the two sneak off to have fun and cause mischief often. Which’s probably common for the group anyways. And it’s not like the stunticons are short on members haha.

Actually I’m thinking about entomologists being confused bc reports and photos keep being inconsistent on the group- and for some reason unlike most other “combiners/gestalts” there doesn’t seem to be a common through line besides… car? I think I’d be funny if they thought it was just a particularly weird cybug swarm up until a few verified reports of different Menasor combos and then everyone threw their notes out the window. Entomologists who have their main body of work in trying to figure out what’s going on with the Stunticons.

Meanwhile, the cybug Stunticons are having fun being the local menace/bug gang wherever they are. They’re here to race and cause trouble and whatever happens happens.

im always obsessed w/ kobd in the context of breakdown being part of the stunticons. like the idea of KO and the rest of the gestalt... ough its so fun.

im not sure that "they stop being antagonistic" is a series of words that can go with the stunticons hfkfbggnk (/lh /lh) but i do think that whatever they dish out, Knockout would be able to spit right back at them. they probably end up somewhere in the ballpark of begrudging respect...

Before the oath of the sword, the three of you made an oath of your own. One of unquestioned trust and camaraderie. No matter where the string of fate would take either of you, the promise made one drunken night between you, Ace, and Deuce was stronger.

That night was fuelled with unrestrained emotions, with shouting and tears, most coming from you. Especially when you awoke one day with strange visions flooded your dreams, vivid images that spoke of a horrible future for you.

Memories of a strange novel, one that eerily resembles your current world down to each royal family member and even your friends’ lives. But while a hero’s glory awaits your dearest ones, you were left as a tragic minor antagonist.

A mere childhood friend of Ace and Deuce, you became jealous of a former baron’s daughter suddenly turned Queen when she grew close to your friends as her knight escorts. You turned to petty acts in response, spewing nasty rumours among the townfolks of the new Queen but like an angelic protagonist, she revealed your misdeeds but forgave you for your childish taunts. Nevertheless, you lost the respect of your only friends and you were left behind.

But despite the Queen’s pardon, King Riddle heard of your disgraceful behaviour against his beloved and called for your immediate execution, which became the final push for Ace and Deuce to join in the Queen’s rebellion against her own tyrannical husband. Because that’s all you were, a mere catalyst for the story to continue on.

You couldn’t imagine yourself turning into a cliche bully and admittedly, the idea of your untimely demise left you shaking in fear on occasion. But the worst of your premonitory dreams was the predicted end of your friendship.

The looks of disgust and disappointment that painted Ace’s and Deuce’s face seared into your mind, your heart shattering like glass at their wishes to never see you again. The fear of abandonment stings you like a crack in your heart which never healed, it scared you to the point that the moment you saw them happily enjoying the night, you drunkenly cried out.

“I love you so much, please don’t leave me.”

Unceremoniously, your body slumped onto the tavern’s table as you blacked out into an alcoholic slumber. How evil of you, conveniently unable to explain what you meant by your slurred confession, or to whom you were referring to.

Ace and Deuce were visibly distracted during their knight training the morning after, one of the few times that they must separate from you. Your words looping over and over in their heads like an endless echo. Your voice pleaded so sincerely with tears cascading down your cheeks.

“What should we do, Ace?” Deuce broke the awkward silence during their water break, finally taking a step to mention the elephant in the room. Your words that resembled a wistful confession struck him with worry (and a hint of budding hope). But unlike him, Ace was quick to look for possible excuses for your actions.

“Don’t be dumb. It was probably just the alcohol talking. Don’t you remember how much we all drank?” The reddish hue of Ace’s cheeks however betrayed his true emotions. In truth, he was just as frazzled by your words as Deuce was. He kept trying to convince himself that you meant nothing by it, to not get his hopes up. But the little devil on his shoulder whispers in his ear, “but what if you did mean something by it?”

Since then, you felt that your time spent with the duo increased since your last outing. Instead of staying back in the knight’s barracks right after training, Ace and Deuce visited your hometown more often that was not the most convenient travel destination. You felt at least one pair of eyes, either sea blue or rose red or both, watching you before turning away when you tried to catch their gaze.

But it seems that some people did noticed something different with the two young men, specifically their family. Deuce’s mother would smile knowingly at you whenever you drop by to offer some assistance in her business, occasionally mentioning how much her son has grown. Funnily enough, Ace’s older brother mentioned something similar about the redhead, though it was more laced with a teasing tone than one of filial affection.

But you weren’t one to look a gift horse in the mouth. You enjoyed the frequent visits of your best friends, especially knowing they will be even busier when the announcement of a new royal member would take your precious moments with them. Rumours were spread about the town of a mysterious figure locked in a tower which were not part of your memories, but your wary heart kept you mindful of the possible news regarding the imperial family.

Your worries intensified when Ace and Deuce announced their new task once dawn breaks, they were to escort the newest addition to the royal family back to the palace. In an attempt to quell your unease, you made an embarrassing request.

“You want to do what?” A bright red hue on Deuce’s face heavily contrasted with his raven blue hair, but you were no position to tease him as you could assume that your embarrassed complexion was no better. “Y-You mean…you…and us…”

The three of you lost track of time chatting and goofing off in your quarters and didn’t realize how the sun has long gone to rest for the night. Instead of returning to their own home, you asked if the two knights were willing to stay over the night, like in your younger days. Back when you three were more used to wooden swords than ones of steel, when your only worry was if your parents were going to cook your favourites that night.

Back when you three shared the same bed together.

“It’s not that crazy of a request…” you pouted but you supposed it was rather absurd to ask your friends, who old enough to be considered men, something so childish. Perhaps those carefree days are truly long gone.

“I’m not opposed to it” Ace gave his signature cheeky smile as he naturally wrapped his arm around your shoulder, slightly leaning his weight onto you. “If you just can’t help but miss our company, we can have a good ol’ slumber party. Just like old times~”

You’re starting to reconsider your request.

But Ace wasn’t done. “Well, it’s not exactly like old times. We’re definitely bigger than back when we were kids”

The redhead was obviously right. The three of you were nothing like the tiny versions of you in the past, and your best friends have certainly bulked up since they started their journey into knighthood. You tried your best but you couldn’t help but gaze in appreciation of the hard work the two of them did to build the stamina and muscles to protect their kingdom, respectfully of course.

“I doubt that all three of us can fit on your teeny little bed.” the scarlet-eyed knight exaggerated his point by squinting his fingers to describe your bed. “I guess Deucey’s just gonna have to go home for tonight.”

“Hey, wait a minute! Why me?!” Deuce snapped out from his flustered daze to glare at Ace, pulling his shaggy-haired companion by the neck of his shirt. “Who are you to tell me what to do?”

Ace remained unperturbed, too used to the blunette’s burst of anger “It’s nothing personal, buddy. But you grind your teeth real loud at night. How is any of us gonna get any sleep?”

“Well you’re a pain to wake up in the morning!” Deuce angrily countered. “Don’t make it our problem to get your ass up tomorrow.”

You watched your best friends bicker and argue, as if you didn’t already know of their terrible sleeping habits. Sure, Deuce grinds his teeth but you always tried to gently soothe his jaw hoping to relax him. Ace may sleep like the dead but his cute little pout every time he finally wakes up makes the effort all worth it to you.

They were idiots, but they were your idiots.

“Will you both stop fighting already?” Ace and Deuce immediately paused as your voice caught their attention, like it always does. “No one’s gotta leave. My bed is not that small, you know?”

To prove your point, you took each of the boy’s hand and led them without issue. For someone as tall and built as them, they were so easy to pull and push as you please. Carefully, you pressed your hands against their chest to push them backwards onto your bed. You then crawled onto the bed yourself between Ace and Deuce, the men automatically shifting their bodies to make space for you.

Satisfied, you laid onto your back and you took the hand of both men, each of your hand snuggly holding their warm, calloused ones. You smiled brightly at the fuzzy feelings of nostalgia bubbling in you, pressing your joining hands to your chest, atop of your beating heart.

“See, no one needs to leave.” your bright eyes looked up to your favourite people, cheeky joy evident in your gaze.

A rare occurrence, the two chatty troublemakers were left speechless. In their defence, they were too busy trying to contain the burst of happiness in their hearts to reply back to you, barely pushing the redness of their cheeks at bay.

They’re the ‘main cast’ overall for my (former yttd au)oc story Pluto project !! Basically, the three on the left are robot experiments by an organization called Morning Star co. looking to replicate humans for normal and ethical purposes (guy in charge has a huge god complex but yk, lots of capitalism and espionage reasons why a humanoid robot would be profitable) while the two on the right are scientists working with them :3

Red and Pierrot are out main protagonists, Candy and Akane are both important as well, and Kenta’s sort of a minor antagonist :3

the story has three arcs-

‘the loop’, centered on Red and Pierrot becoming self aware and forming their own identities/developing past being replicas of real people …. While in a simulation of a death game, that becomes like a deadly time-loop to them.

(here’s what their dynamic is like then)

‘the labyrinth’, which is centered on the facility of morning star itself (worldbuilding heavy) and Red exploring in a robot body (and meeting Candy!) while Pierrot navigates the servers and online archives to try to find a way to escape.

(here’s what the main three’s relationships r like then)

and finally ‘the open door’, which revolves around the first four in the lineup exploring their new freedom and healing from everything they’ve endured. Also, they get healthy character growth yay <3

I know you are working on a AU of Deltarune already (Eldritchrune) but can you at least tell us what a Deltarune Chapter 3 take from you would look like. Just saying. You don't have to draw anything you can just describe how it goes. Like idk your interpretation of Mike or Tenna would be neat!

I don't know that I have an idea or big plan for how the whole chapter goes, really! That is one area where I'm just excited to see what canon gives us! I have a few overall thoughts (and some art already done) on how I predict things might go for that chapter, though.

I think overall the theme with this chapter is going to be about the Lightners trying out roles, both wanted and unwanted. There'll be a bunch of hopping around between different shows and trying to "play the right role" for them. Stuff starts out pretty lighthearted and fun, but gets more demanding and dangerous as they progress.

While perhaps Kris was trying to get the police to come, I'm actually guessing none of them show up.

If Toriel does show up either as a party member or a side character like Berdly, this was my fan take on her Dark World look. I like the idea of it leaning in to her identity as a teacher in terms of abilities.

This was my take on Tenna. I feel like the "ann-tenna" pun has to come up some way! An overbearing stage mom type antagonist sounds interesting to me.

I actually think it's going to be revealed to Ralsei and Susie pretty early on that Kris made the fountain, if Ralsei doesn't already know!

All signs point to us getting a Susiezilla sequence, which I am excited for. However, I think that'll also be tied in with the once-per-chapter perspective shift to Susie, and I predict a rather crazy setup that will allow us to actually play as her for the kaiju smash sequence.

I honestly just hope that there's a bunch of references to obscure 90s TV things that I can Leo point meme at. I want an NPC to quote something that brainblasts me back to a Froot Loops commercial from 1994. An MST3K reference will have me over the moon.

I don't have any good guesses for the chapter three secret boss, and none of the objects people have suggested so far really seem likely to me. I'm guessing it's something no one has guessed yet, assuming we can even do the secret boss next chapter...

Have you ever thought of a role reversal/swap au? Like, the modern gang are the ones in the past and the ones from the past are the in the modern time reliving the(ir) past.

I know that there are a lot of characters, from the past and present, and idk how swapping all of their places would work so I'm only focusing on my pookies for this ask :3c

The pookies in question are Desmond, Altaïr, Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton, of course.

So this time Desmond is the one in the past, AND WE COULD GO WILD FROM HERE!!

Was Desmond one of The Greatest Assassin's Of All Time™ or was he just like modern!Desmond who ran away from the creed and was roped back in to the entire thing only after a few years lol. Like I said, GO WILD!!

Rebecca, Shaun, Lucy and Clay are also in the past with Desmond, all the modern day characters are! (So also the antagonists!)

Also, I'm a biracial Desmond truther so that's definitely going to determine the setting he's going to be in.

My HC is that he's Half Syrian, half whatever William is (fuck you William) so maybe he could be born in Masyaf, during when? You decide!

I didn't want this to sound like a Desmond get reborn as Altaïr ask (I LOVE YOU DESMOND REBORN AS 'SOMEONE' ASKS) because I still want him to be in ancient/old Syria (or somewhere near that! Like I said GO WILDDDDD) that's why I'm keeping everything vague jssjaj

Also I'm so sorry if this idea seems so vague and plotless it literally just popped into my head a few minutes ago LOL (definitely not from re-reading Zero Eclipse again nope). And as per usual, forgive me for anything spelling/grammar mistakes! English is hard ajdhsjjaajsh.

You know what would be funny, nonny?

If this isn’t a case of Desmond being reborn as Altaïr BUT Desmond pretending to be Altaïr because Altaïr went missing.

Desmond, Rebecca, Shaun, Lucy and Clay all woke up in the temple underneath Jerusalem. The Apple was gone so their best guess was that this was after the big FUBAR that landed Altaïr in hot waters.

And to make this all the more interesting, the gang was sent to the past just as Desmond was about to stab Lucy in the coliseum.

Everyone but Clay doesn’t know Lucy is a Templar. Lucy and Clay make a truce of some kind where Clay keeps it a secret because they all need to focus on how to get back to their actual time.

(Clay only agrees to not explicitly telling everyone that Lucy is a Templar, that didn’t mean that he wasn’t going to tell the local bureau that there was a blonde foreigner crusader spy and he may or may not be hinting that someone is a traitor among them to Desmond the entire time, loop hole abuse is one of Clay’s favorite past time after all)

And here comes the mystery.

Desmond tries to check Jerusalem out because they need to figure out just ‘when’ they were kicked to and an informant saw him, called him Altaïr and dragged him to the bureau where…

Kadar was working as the temporary Rafiq.

What. The. Fuck.

Flashforward to the future where Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton wake up in a very familiar face. And hey, it’s Juno.

And he’s screaming at Altaïr who looked ready to throttle her, skin her alive and feed the goddamn skin down her throat.

They ran away from the screaming Juno and find the gang’s van.

Altaïr ‘surprisingly’ seemed to know how to open it and they both hide their before Altaïr tell them his side of the story.

So…

Altaïr decided that restraint was a word that should just be thrown out of the window after his wife and son died. He started messing up the Apple and unlocked admin access to it, which meant that he could get any information he wanted.

And the information he wanted was to change the past so the people he loved and cared for would live past their fated death.

He managed to return to the past and saved Kadar.

Unfortunately, Kadar’s survival caused a ripple in time and space and Altaïr was sucked into it where he… may or may not have met a Reader of time.

He made a deal with the Reader.

Apparently, Altaïr was not allowed to mess with his own time, no one was allowed to do that.

However, that didn’t mean that he couldn’t mess with other people’s time and someone else couldn’t mess with his time.

So they made a deal. The Reader would send someone who would want to give Altaïr a happy ending, in exchange Altaïr was to change the fate of the person the Reader was sending by taking out the Templars in the mean time.

Things started to get strange while they were switching timelines though.

Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton were yanked from their timeline because of their deep connection to Desmond and the gang was yanked with Desmond in the process because they were near Desmond (Clay getting yanked was because his digital avatar’s home, the Animus, was connected to Desmond’s phone via a shared network and the transfer counted him as an individual)

Altaïr is sorta kinda sure that they’d return to their original timeline once Altaïr had done his side of the bargain and Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton really have no other clue other than what the great Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad is telling them so they just go along with it.

First thing first… Altaïr needs to get into contact with William Miles to get information about this time that the Reader and his Apple was unable to give him.

On the other side of this wacky time travel ride, everyone assumes Altaïr is missing because they returned to the past.

Lucy is all in on the whole “we need to preserve history or else we risk the chance of disappearing!” and Shaun agrees with her (for now).

Clay thinks they should just fuck shit up and see what happens and Rebecca isn’t entirely on board with either ideas and more focused on finding out how they could return home.

For now…

Desmond will continue to pretend to be Altaïr who went missing because he was wounded in Jerusalem (after trying to save Kadar, sounds fishy, might be a clue) and the gang is now the kind people who healed him.

(Rebecca and Shaun are pretending to be married, Clay and Lucy are also pretending to be married, it’s very awkward, no one wants to acknowledge that elephant at all)

And…

Oh, yeah.

Malik was the one who got demoted and is now hunting down the Templars.

If this is ClayDes, it’s gonna be a slowburn kind of deal.

If you want this to be AltDes, Desmond and Altaïr actually manages to contact one another when they’re dreaming after Altaïr used the Animus to check his own past and got routed to Desmond’s POV.

If you want both, the same setup as AltDes but Clay gets suckered into the dream videocall because of unknown reasons.

Might edit this more when I'm awake but I feel like it'll be useful to actually explain this nested AU in more detail, since just tagging 'unreality' isn't always going to cut it. So, without putting on that particular mask:

-- Consider the following: An alternate universe where Mirabelle was the protagonist of the game, and it was designed around her themes instead of Siffrin’s. A different reason to the loops, a different final boss, different conversations and focuses all throughout. Uncannily similar, yet different.

Now, make an AU of that where Siffrin loops instead. At the end of their Journey to defeat The Warden, a fanatic freezing Vaugarde in time to preserve their idea of Change, Mirabelle shows Siffrin the proper ritual to pray to the Change God. Such a simple ritual sets off an issue or five, and now our favourite mysterious fella is looping! --

okay, can someone ask me something about my au please. I have a bunch of things I want to talk about, but I don't know where to start. knowing me, without a normal question, I'll just write a huge essay that no one will want to read.

so, here's the basic information

everyone except Bonnie in the main five has swaped roles with each other (so, Mirabelle The Traveler, Isabeau The Researcher, Odile The Fighter and Siffrin the Housemaiden), as well as the King and Euphrasie too.

the story takes place on a forgotten island. of course this means that I will have to invent a new religion and culture almost from scratch, but I will survive.

The Head Housemaiden has no name or title, and so when the characters talk about her, they just say "She" or "Her". She, being the main antagonist, covered the country in darkness, obscuring the stars and subjecting the island to oblivion.

instead of Sadness, there will be other enemies, I call them Fragments for now. they are the embodiment of the desires, hopes and dreams of those who were fallen under Her curse.

Sifrin is still the one who is stuck in a time loop.

I decided to collect all the information that we managed to create on this wonderful Player AU. So, let's start in order.

In this development of events, we know that the phenomenon of players was at least known (It is quite possible that the main records of this were recorded on the Forgotten Island, and were slightly related to their religion, as guides or something like that, but the details were lost, like a bunch of other things)

Therefore, in the ordinary world, either there is a whole franchise dedicated to this universe, or some kind of interworld crap. Perhaps Wishcraft is somehow mixed with this. Loop can be aware of the player's presence, communicate with us directly, thus creating an unforgettable experience, and giving both Siffrins a person on whom they can safely dump their anger (since for him, the player only appeared in order to achieve his goal of killing the King, and that's all… And basically their entire backstory)

Therefore, Mirabelle does NOT have such a guide, which confirms the fact how hopeless this entire quest was initially… And makes Siffrin admire her even more, because she managed to get to SUCH a result on her own! (Possibly increased self-flagellation of the mz for the fact that you screwed up so much that because of your mistakes you and your team needed a parasite (Guide) from the universe because you yourself clearly can't cope. After learning about Wishcraft, it becomes more or less clear that the presence of the guide also happened as a consequence of the distorted power of Vogard's desires. (And Loop's desire. I just can't imagine their mental state when they realize that even with such a huge support and with all their sacrifices it was almost not enough. They both almost lost … And all because of this stupid DESIRE (if I could I would highlight this word in red, but alas). They were literally CHANGED, Stardust literally got a BLINDING CONDUCTOR, and Loop himself as support … And still. And still … they almost repeated Loop's mistake. (And in those variations of events where the Player is more cruel to Siffrin, I can't help but imagine that Loop himself feels that this everything is deserved… If only it could be delivered to the address (Lup himself) and not Stardust. After all, the universe knows better.)

After the entity was noticed (or in other words, the 4th wall was broken) The person under their control can feel some influence, and possibly conduct some semblance of communication (I'm not entirely sure, but communication will be damn difficult) Basically, there is a nudge towards some thought or action. (The fact that Siffrin himself was constantly running even before the player's arrival is conveniently forgotten by all parties involved, allowing Sif to have another reason to behave antagonistically towards the Player (And from our player's side, somewhere from the third Act - a nudge towards the least destructive idea that Siffrin came up with this time. As you can understand, they do not have as much choice as it may seem from the outside). )

God of Change knows. I doubt details are needed at this point

Whatever the outcome of Siffrin's relationship with the Player, he will miss them (But whether it's a longing for kindness, or a longing for the feeling that whatever happened was not your responsibility, or that any damage was deserved… That will be determined by history (because even the worst things in our lives can be missed))

… I just can't help myself from giggling, because I really like this imaginary dynamic between our wild Player, who is just a stupid someone (I wonder if Siffrin's mind will label them as Audience, Prompters, or something else) and who just wants to enjoy this game and is trying to be decent to those whose lives he is playing with… And who for some stupid reason they like. Lupa, who is very bitter towards Stardust and has a grudge against the player, who abandoned them when they defeated the king and woke up in a clearing, and yet who has never been truly cruel to Siffrin. And Siffrin, who is simply having the worst time of his life.

And now I'm not sure if I want to make it so that the whole 4th wall breaking thing is unique, or that it's a common knowledge about this particular game… (And I imagine both of those facts would be funny (And just imagine if the whole fandom just kept this little secret extra so that new players could enjoy the feeling of exclusivity, only to have their dreams crushed. It would be funny and cruel, right? (Even thinking about it makes me a little sick… So I guess it's a good idea. But too cruel. But that's up to you, AU creator~) Because if it's a common knowledge… How many horrible AUs could they create :) Tee hee~ (And at least the fandom aspect is possible… I think it would be cooler if there was just a limited number of copies with such a small addition as the 4th wall, and the rest enjoyed the regular version, without any additional moral obligations)

But then again, I got a little carried away) I just love that we we create and i hope to see more of thee soon. it just so intresting! ... and i really need to do something about my giant text. i cant tell my ideas in less words sadly.

I very much want this all to be the Canon idea for theis AU thus far.

The people of the Forgotten Island were aware of the Universe and Players. Players were seen as some sort of guide for those deemed worthy - or something. (Siffrin finds a book about this in the library in the House. He can only read it after getting the Memory that allows him to read his own language).

Siffrin and Loop definitely blame the Player for their problems.

I love the idea of Siffrin thinking of the Player as a parasite. Especially if it developed over time. (Siffrin thinks of the Player as some kind of gift, but - depending on the actions of the Player - they soon see them as some kind of curse or parasite).

Loop has some kind of magical ability to interact with the Player, but there's not much they can do to stop the Player. (Not now, at least~)

The 4th wall breaking thing is definitely going to be a unique thing.
