yeah!! ive written one fic abt them but its barely scraping the surface of how much i think lois is involved in tim's future tbh. i'm a firm believer in tim post rr09 eventually having a really nasty sepsis incident after a minor injury (like, he got bitten by a cat or something) that nearly kills him, and forces him to grapple with the reality of immunodeficiency as disability - that there are things that he can no longer do, things that he used to be able to do without question and that are now out of his reach. (this is also a major tim & babs arc, to me.) it's rough because he's in denial for a hot minute because vigilanteism has consumed so, so much of his life that he wants to cling to it, because he doesn't know who he is without it... but also vigilanteism is a really good way to end up with wounds that have a high chance of getting infected. such as getting bitten by five billion rats in a tunnel under gotham. or mucking around in the sewers. or hanging out in a cave full of bat guano. et cetera.

enter lois lane!! during this arc of trying to figure out what direction he can take his life in, tim is spending a lot of time brooding (he's had some minor spats with kon about kon feeling overprotective and fussy ever since his major sepsis incident; he's had some Far More Nasty Fights with cassie about the same thing. after all the horrors, cassie is not normal about the idea of losing tim. at all). so when lois makes an offhand comment about how she'd take interns if they made interns like tim, he's like ...wait. really? and some of the sparkle starts to return to his eyes.

(scene smash cuts to tim and lois leaping out of a helicopter five seconds before it explodes, and supernova catching them only to turn to superman in horror because kal. there's two of them now.) okay so maybe this isn't as risk-free as a desk job, but danger is the spice of life, right? hey! tim is having a great time here!

and it's like. i don't think he ever fully retires from heroics or anything; i think he honestly ends up kind of apprenticing with john henry irons and becoming a superhero community gadget guy, maybe does a red tornado stint and helps train hero kids in the next generation. but his day job is journalism with lois. they are both snooping and sneaking around. lois teaches tim how to work a source without having to resort to intimidation. tim teaches lois to use a grapple gun. lex luthor will never know peace again. life could be a dream.

"That's it, love. What a good pet you are," you purr as you ride him, stroking his hair and trailing your hand down to cup his cheek.

He whimpers from your touch, how you feel around him, his eyes pleading with you, but you aren't sure for what. More? Less? Everything? He grips your thighs as if to anchor himself to you through shuddered breaths and the dizzying heat of lust.

You pant heavily as you take your pleasure, reveling in how he fills you; how deliciously you stretch for him and pause your rhythmic thrusts to savor it.

The time passes in a blur as the room fills with the sounds of your claiming and the sweet redolence of your mingled perspiration.

"You did so well for me, my sweet mage," you whisper as you take the cloth and languidly drag it along his flagging length. He lets out a whimpering sigh as you clean him. Slow. Careful. As if he were the most precious thing on Toril.

You press kisses to his temple as you take a fresh cloth and dab the beads of sweat that soaked his hair and gorgeously olive skin. He watches you with eyes half-lidded, filled with adoration and fatigue as you move the cloth over his body and whisper affirmations of love and desire.

He deserves this and he knows it; from your loving gaze and tender touches. In your praise and devotion. The way you nuzzle his bearded jawline and whisper sweet nothings as you pull the covers over the both of you is all the assurance he needs to know that you are his and he is yours. "Until the stars dim and the seas no longer swell," you breathe. "You'll always be my love."

It was an inevitability in the use of magic that, sometimes, you were going to have a bad day. The stars would not align. The elements shift. And it would seem like even the most basic of cantrip was beyond your comprehension.

That was how Gale felt today.

Every spell he tried seemed to fizzle right in his hands. He couldn’t get the gestures right. Nor the effort needed to help slay their enemies. The only person he did end up hitting was poor Shadowheart, who was understandably giving him the cold shoulder back at camp; even though her actual shoulder had thawed out. “How are you feeling Gale?”

The wizard turned to Tav, who was looking at him with a soft expression of concern. Gale offered her a sad smile and closed his book. “Fine. Or at least fine for being a complete failure today.”

“Don’t say that!”

“What? It’s true.” He reasoned. “You would have had more success out today if I had just been a rock in your pocket. At least then you might have hit an enemy. Our lives are in peril and the one thing I’m good for I can’t even provide to our company. Pathetic.”

“That’s enough Gale Dekarios!”

Gale’s back went straight and his eyes went a little wide at Tav’s snap. Her eyes were as fierce as they were in battle. Those beautiful orbs he admired so greatly pointed at him with such disdain. Gale felt lower than an asp’s belly now.

Tav lanced her hand out and took hold of his. Practically dragging Gale away from the camp as it took him the first few steps to get his footing right. When they were far enough away Tav dropped his hand and turned to him again. “Why would you say something like that Gale?”

“Something like what?” He asked as he straightened his robes. Thoroughly confused.

“That your ‘pathetic’ just because your magic was a bit off today. Or that the only thing you’re good for is magic. Why would you say that?”

“Oh…” That’s what this was about? “Well, it’s true, isn’t it? My magic is my one true skill to the group. Besides being able to manage the cooking pot. We all have our strengths, and mine is managing the Weave.”

“But it’s not your only thing of value Gale.” The wizard looked surprised again and turned his head down, but Tav stepped forward and placed her hands to the side of his face to turn it back up. “You’re more than your magic Gale. You’re smart, funny. You care about people and want to do the right thing, and you’re the man that I love!” They were sweet words but they almost sounded like a threat. “Say it!”

“I…I am more than my magic.” He repeated after her. Feeling his knees quake a little. His heartbeat race as he locked eyes with such fire.

Tav huffed through her nose and pulled him close. “That’s my good boy.”

Gale was embarrassed but he actually mewed a little when she called him that. Petting his hair like a cat or a weak little doll. He felt himself coil into her. His arms coiling around her to hold on. Not even aware she was bringing them to the ground until his knees hit it. “We’re going to sit here and repeat until you start believing it.”

“Yes ma’am.” Gale said, without question, and started to repeat his affirmations at her command.

I know why Cas says he cared about Sam because of Dean but I don’t get why he says it about Jack? I feel like his relationship with Jack was fairly separate from Dean

I personally don’t view Cas’s statement as that literal. To me, it means less that he cared about Jack because of Dean, and more that caring about one person gave him the courage to keep opening himself up.

Love, after all, spreads like a contagion. It grows, expanding outward like a stone dropped in water, rippling further and further. Dean wasn’t the start of Cas caring about things; Cas had his own convictions and compassion long before that.

But Dean was a turning point. He became family, a kind of structural support Cas could grow with (and change with, and mess up with, and come back to against all the odds). Through that foundation, it became possible for Cas to live and love more fully: Sam, Bobby, other angels, Claire, Mary, Jack, the AU hunters, Rowena, and humanity itself.
