Iyu’s Significant Other: @tokyoghoulartfight2025 submission 2
a devious half ghoul boy….
(this is based more on Kaneki in relation to my OC Iyu, since someone requested I fill the sheet more with that information)
Name: Ken Kaneki 研 金木, My Boy (by Iyu), Shironeki (not in writing)
Age: 19 as of 2012
Born: 20/12/1993
Education: graduated high school, accepted into university in the department of letters, however he only completed a few months before dropping out.
Gender: cis male
Species: artificial half ghoul
Kagune type: rinkaku - 4 tendrils. can enter a half-kakuja state and gains an additional 2 tendrils, which are a bit mutated and are denser and fatter than the other 4
Size: 169.5cm, 56kg
Blood-type: AB
Likes: books of any genre, intelligent women, hamburger (formerly), martial arts, black coffee, cannibalizing sometimes, feeling useful and loved, leaving the house for long periods of time without saying where he’s going and when he’ll be back!!! :/
Favorite Literature: anything written by Sen Takatsuki, some mysteries and thrillers, classics, poetry
Sexuality: hetero but can be bisexual for an intriguing dynamic between him and another man. I like to keep him being into girls as much as possible because it deepens the oedipus complex possibilities, which I think is too funny to miss
Hobbies: reading, leaving Iyu all by herself, assault
Personality: generally a soft and gentle person. Very cute. Can be private and tends to bottle up negative feelings until they explode (or plans specific times where he allows himself to explode so it’ll be contained to particular ghouls/dinner). Likes to act a little confident, a little arrogant, a little cool and calculating, but it’s driven by insecurity and I think he’d be more anxious than Kuroneki a lot of the time. He stresses immensely about not being strong enough to defend the people he cares for. I think some of that is also exacerbated by his mental issues, he’s a bit psychotic and probably sees it as a horrible weakness. He is terrified of being abandoned and unloved so he will cut connections with people so they can’t do it to him first. Iyu tries to help with this, but he sometimes worries that he’s just making her sick too. He indulges her weird obsession with him anyway because he kinda likes getting to be the center of someone’s world, even if he feels a bit guilty for taking up so much of her life.
Sometimes he talks like a character from a book instead of a regular person. He relates a lot of his inner world to books he’s read, so when things start spiraling out of control and his mental state degrades to the point where he can’t recall what to relate things to, he gets more panicked and his thoughts get very disorganized. Recently he’s gotten very adjusted to reaching that state and has given up on relating things to stories so much. Many of his thoughts now return to getting stronger, violence, feeling like something is wrong, wondering what his friends are up to or what Iyu could be doing. He avoids thinking about Touka and Hide specifically because he knows it’ll just make him really sad in the wrong way.

issues with his mother continue to affect his relationships with women and which girls he is attracted to

claws at himself sometimes when he’s psychotic (not his fault but it’s distressing and he’ll refuse bandages because “it’ll heal soon”, but his nails have all this gunk in there so what if it gets infected???)

poor coping mechanism of turning some ghoul into paste because he’s feeling upset and failed some task that spiraled into him thinking he’s completely weak and helpless
lowkey scared of Iyu sometimes somehow
Background: either exactly the same as in Tokyo Ghoul, or with minor differences like Kaneki living alone. Generally Iyu shows up either weeks before or shortly after the lab raid. She helps Kaneki with information but if providing information about the Anteiku battle and certain details only shown in :re, she tries her hardest to keep things lined up so it seems like a ridiculously bad idea for Kaneki to get involved in the Anteiku battle. Maybe because he missed the battle, Eto tries to recruit him without Arima, and that could cause issues, but generally in the Iyu AU they’re just chilling and being close friends :) ofc people can do whatever else they want with him tho
DOs: anything!!! But I am particularly fond of him having a good time or put in a vulnerable position against his will
Ships I'm okay with: not really my choice because it’s Kaneki. not even my character. this is based on him in the Iyuverse but this is also additional encouragement for anyone to do something with Kaneki however they want because I love him so much and think he should hang out with everyone

DON'TS: if this is Iyuverse Kaneki, please don’t write him having sex. it would make Iyu jealous and sad. if it’s just regular Kaneki then that’s different, he can get it for sure

LOZ Fic Recs
Deciding to use my hobby of autistically crawling through AO3 tags for good. I'm prioritizing fics with less than 50 kudos. None of these are ship fics, most don't have any romance. All of these are completed one shots, most under 10k words.
Skies, Surfaces, and the Hero Chef That Can't Actually Cook by greatduwangs
Summary: Link's cooking sidequest in Skyward Sword, which goes about as well as you'd expect. Or, the missing ingredient was a home all along, or whatever.
Why I recommend it: 4.5k of Link eating things he shouldn't. Very funny and very cute!
Big Dark by phlyarologist
Summary: Character study of Mido as the events of Ocarina of Time change him, worldbuilding the Kokiri and examining what it means to grow up.
Why I recommend it: Contender for the best LOZ fic I've ever read. Brilliant worldbuilding and characterization, and a fantastic understanding of childhood and its nuances that you rarely see outside of fiction aimed at children.
loop - synonyms: coil, noose, ring, circle by MidnightBunnyy
Summary: Fi gets stuck in a timeloop and is very... well, Fi about it.
Why I recommend it: Excellent Fi characterization that leads to a very funny take on a time loop scenario while still being a serious story.
Notes: Restricted work, only available to AO3 users.
A Legacy Cast in Stone by sagittamoth
Summary: Pre-Skyward Sword Sheikah worldbuilding following an OC who works with the robots and timeshift stones in the last days before the war.
Why I recommend it: Does a great job with worldbuilding, creating a vibrant world that slots neatly into the greater Skyward Sword canon.

Summary: Drabble exploring Zelda's time in the dungeon.
Why I recommend it: Does a brilliant job painting fear and an oppressive atmosphere, with stellar Zelda characterization.
Growth by herohelio
Summary: Two connected snippets of Malon in the adult timeline, meeting Link again.
Why I recommend it: Adorable Link and Malon friendship and great Malon characterization, with very effective hints at what living under Ingo had been like.
Because each time we live by grainjew
Summary: Follows Link through ALTTP, written through the lens of the reincarnation theory with a focus on connection to the wider LOZ series.
Why I recommend it: Author described it as a 'mood piece', which it absolutely is and is very good at. I like the surreal and blurry way reincarnation is portrayed in this fic, and it has a great take on the maidens.
Blind and the Bunny by justAPassingThought
Summary: A character study of Blind the Thief through his defeat in the Thieves’ Hideout Dungeon.
Why I recommend it: Excellent exploration of the Dark World and the way its transformations work, and I really like Blind's view on Link's Dark World form.
Litany of Betrayal by RawLiverAndCigarettes
Summary: A foreign warlord swears fielty to the king of Hyrule. Impa knows what the stranger truly wants. She has seen it before. She can still taste the ash.
Why I recommend it: Fantastic character study of Ganondorf and Impa in Ocarina of Time. Everyone is horrible and I'm thriving. Incorporates Hylia into the OOT canon in a way I find actually interesting. Fascinating worldbuilding in general.
Notes: Prequel to a novel-length fic I have not read (I'm terrible at reading long fics rip).
that gentle hubris by cassiopeian
Summary: Zelda bares her soul at the Spring of Wisdom, but the answers she seeks do not come from a goddess.
Why I recommend it: Mipha and Zelda friendship, a fun take on Zora mythology and I always love mortals forging their own paths in worlds where gods are objectively real.
Hunger by Anonymous
Summary: Sequel to Grace, where Zelda struggles to reckon with perceptions out of her control. Link is there to help point out what she's missed. Can be read as standalone.
Why I recommend it: Autistic Zelda, queerplatonic zelink, and a great portrayal of the hunger that comes with trauma.
Notes: Sequel to a fic that is also very good.
As Above, So Below by Mothlight_Witch
Summary: An exploration of the Depths and Hyrule's cosmology.
Why I recommend it: The other contender for 'best LOZ fic I've read'. Astounding atmosphere and worldbuilding, incredibly unique and all-around breathtaking. Lives in my head rent free.
What is your wish? by AdeptArcanist
Summary: Character study of Vaati connecting him to Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask.
Why I recommend it: Very weird and unique take on LOZ lore and I'm so incredibly here for that.
Linner (Link Dinner) by waterglider
Summary: An adaptation of one of Zelda's diary entries set after the "Blades of the Yiga" memory. After a very irritating person saves her life, Zelda has developed a theory-- one she plans to test.
Why I recommend it: Zelda is kinda mean and Link is a monarchist bootlicker. I adore this take on pre-Calamity Link, he's genuinely insufferable and I love that. If I ever end up writing pre-Calamity Link I'm so stealing this characterization.
Notes: Sequel to another stellar fic, prequel to an in progress novel-length fanfic that I have not read (again, terrible at reading longer fic).

Still debating about like allowing other people into the game discord or how early#in the process one should do that.. but social things are just so difficult for me lol.. I shall always suffer for my lack of networking an#self promotion skills. 4 - I was forced to get a new phone a few months ago because my beloved phone of like 10 years finally#broke too much. and I always like to go through the emojis and make a little memo with all my favorites. yaay little pictures of things.#5 - I FINALLY finished all the dictionary entries for the game (which has a little dictionary feature in the player's journal to note#any specific terms and keep track of them (like what 'jhevona' or 'avirre'thel' means. or to remember that the world is called Nanyevimi#and the country they're in is Asen. etc. etc.)). There are 75 defined terms so far and it took me a while to do so out of curiosity I put#all the text into a wordcounter thing and lol.. 8000 words isnt that much I guess but the 30 minute reading time is funny to me. 30 minutes#for my little tiny dictionary panel in my quaint little casual visual novel which is not even lore heavy at all. hee hee (though that's mor#like a minute here and there since obv people are not unlocking every term all at once. you complete the dictionary as you talk to people#and hear them mention new concepts over time.).. ANYWAY..#6 - a very soft and beautiful stuffed animal that I did not buy but wanted to at least document their charm.#7 - stimky boye waiting in front of his favorite straw meowring screaming for someone to play with him (he likes to chase the#straw around). 8 - matcha bubble tea my beloved. 9 & 10 & 11 - some cool flowers I saw. also featuring one of my favorites (columbines!)#Anyhow.. as mentioned in the other photo diary post.. I have just been packing and writing mostly.. The evil summer is coming of course#which me and my health issues always dread. Good news though is I finally got my passport in the mail! >:3 huzzah. Now I just need to find#some fellow aromantic asexual living outside the US willing to take one for the team and fake a marriage with me so I can get the#hell out of the country UwU (<joking) (...mostly... as in - definitely NOT my main goal. but if a viable opportunity presented itself I#would of course give it consideration lol). I know that's already highly regulated but I wonder if it's something that will become even mor#locked down as people hunt for any opportunity to flee. People are out here searching for any loophole. guess whose cystic acne has returned 😔
#technically it returned in march of last year#but i only just got it looked at by a dermatologist today#it did take eight years to return so i guess i got extremely lucky if i look at it that way#but anyway#i have to go on antibiotics again for 3 months#but if it’s anywhere near as stubborn as it was last time#i will have to go back on roaccutane#which is literally my nightmare scenario given all the medications i take to manage my chronic pain#let’s hope it doesn’t even come to that#on the plus side the antibiotics will probably clear up my rosacea#so that’s much-appreciated lmao#it’s funny but also incredibly sweet how every specialist i have gone to in recent years will read through my medical history#and apologise for adding yet another diagnoses to my extensive list of chronic conditions#as if they played a part in bestowing any of them upon me#i never know what to say other than “it is what it is” because i really have no choice but to put up with this body#if you made it to this point#i just wanted to say ily and i hope you’re having a great day 🩷#personal

#i cant fucking beieve it oh my goood!#so ive sent 3 emails and called them twice - my doctor's office#i need 3 documents from them for my health insurance so my top surgery will be covered#so 2 documents of these are just results of test they've done. easy roght. zhey hv these pdfs ready sitting somewhere in their software#i even added the dates the tests were taken so they could easily find them and just add them to the reply email and send it to me#the 3rd document is an evaluation so that might take some time to write. maybe 3 hrs max if my doctor rly puts his whole pussy in.#i don't hear anything after a week. i send a 2nd email. i hear nothing so after 2 days i call. the nurse on the line says it's being taken#care of. or smth along these lines. i hear nothing so the next monday i write a 3rd email. i hear nothing. today it's been 3 weeks#since i first contacted them. i call them again. the nurse tells me they sent everything in the mail last week. why tf are you sending it i#the mail instead of just replying to my fuxcking email???? anyweay then the nurse says oh it looks like we sent you only 2 instead of 3#documents. she tells me she'll send everything in an email today. i hang up i get dressded i rush downstairs to check the mailbox.#the letter is there i rip it open. it's only 2 documents. like. WHAT. i made an indented list numbered 1) 2) 3) in my email so it would be#easy to spot that i need THREE documents. how tf can you think oh yeah the patient wants 3 documents. but i'm putting 2 in the enverlope no#this is right and im not making a mistake now. anyway after 2 hrs i get an email w 3 documents in them. i finally feel relief bc my#health insurance wants that shit until next tuesday. mind you i reached out to them THREE weeks ago and i contacted them 5 times in total.#i open the files. only one (1) document is actually what i need and it's one of the lab tests. the 2nd lab test i need is not there. instea#there's a completely different lab test. from a different year (i literally wrote the fuking dates so they knew which tests i need!!!)#the evalutation i need which i thgoiught might take a max of 3 hrs to write is 2 sentences long. it doesn't address the actual issue that i#need evaluated. it took you THREE wekks to write 2 sentences that are WRONG??????#are yiou fuckihg stipouzds!! am i going insane like wtf is going on#i can use this to wipe my ass but not to hand it in for the health insurance!!!! *screams*#now i sent them another email (the 4th email) asking them to send me that test results that i need. i added the full name of the test#and the date it was taken. even checked my calendar to double check i got the right date. these ppl probably fucking hate me now#but. do your fuxking job!!! how can you not read how can you take 3 weeks to add 2 pdfs to an email and then one of them is the wrong one!!#idk what's going on but i suspect maybe they don't hv the results? maybe the tube was lost in the mail or it was too little blood to do the#test or the lab couldn't do the test for other reasons. but if this is the case. why do they not fucking tell me that?? l#like we are all adults i get that sometimes stuff doesn't work out or mistakes are made i promise i'm not mad (initially) i just want to#work together w you to find a solution#same w the evaluation. i suspect the dr doesn't hv the expertise or he can't fucking read idk but if he doesn't hv the expertise#instead of not replying for 3 weeks and then writing some 2 sentence bs that has nothing to do w what i need. you could've just told me you

Nevin havinv one has basically been canon since#someone mentioned Greg's (was it Britney's) aura being familiar in s2ch1. ive been putting together a list of every line#that points to Nevin's aura throughout the whole thing (most from s2ch1 but then s2ch10 came out and it was really canon at that point)#but clearly i'm running out of time to say ''i fucking called it'' before it's explicitly stated and i dont want to be in another situation#where somebody else will beat me to a theory and me posting anything about it will seem like copying them. sorry about that btw i had#thought i had already mentioned theorizing that nevin was possessed by a demon in that old theory i made but i had forgotten that one was#super old and was about sigma. so no copying there i just got extremely paranoid there was a mention of a cult and i was like ''nuh uh#that's way too specific and out there of a detail to end up in both our theories'' and i forgot the rest of my super old post was outdated#as hell. and echos had gone ''yeah they're so similar!'' and i took their word for it but now i'm realizing they were probably just trying#to be supportive. so yeah no copying there i was just beaten to the punch of saying something. but i will NOT back down from the aura shit#because i have been calling that shit FROM THE START or at least since i started reading ibvs back when ch20 came out.#also not backing down from saying chris was the worse friend because these past few chapters are the first time isaac has done anything tha#could knowingly upset chris meanwhile chris has. let edward drag isaac to the lair after isaac said edward would beat him up. chose not to#believe edward was holding the secrets over their heads because 'it was something isaac had said' and then immediately distrusted edward in#the next chapter because a random person he didn't know said to steal a book (might i mention how that entire scene proves chris' lack of#development and refusal to take responsibility because it perfectly alludes to when chris had brought those fireworks into his old school#and makes me wonder if charlie has actually gotten him in trouble with his past schools or if he's still just not taking responsibility#and if him following nevin to the woods to test out their powers is an extension of ''if something bad happens its not my fault''#like seriously this man would bring a mysterious suitcase onto a plane if he's told to). uh what was i talking about agai#anyway on a related note my mental state has only gotten worse since i left tumblr and the habit of thinking about chris instead of sleepin#or doing schoolwork has not stopped. so i was still failing for a while and might graduate now but am still staying away from tumblr.#so yeah this was a little update and im not going to linger this time im just going to leave tumblr again right after hitting post#addendum because i just can't let things go. and was thinking about chris again. i don't think his lack of development is because of bad#writing (anymore. i used to.). instead i'm certain his character arc is going to continue into him following someone (nevin probably) into#doing something really bad. and then he'll finally get actual consequences and go 'oh shit i fucked up real bad this time'#if you think that theory is reaching too far into the future you should hear mine about isaac dying at the end lmao

1 (the character that everyone gets wrong): ok this one is tricky for me bc to some degree im cool with ooc-ish stuff on the case of like aus/personal interpretation/whatever AND i am actually someone who doesnt actually read a lot of fanfic and doesnt have tooooo many really strong feelings abt characters outside of phantom hourglass so this one i had to think abt for a bit for a character that i have strong enough feelings on and actually like. care and know how ppl popularly interpret them. i am a bit of a hater but its very specific haterism a lot of the time. so i don’t really have much of an answer for this? (except to say im a bit put off by ww/ph link as like some hardened rough and tumble pirate type, that’s always felt off to me)

im signed up for an online english course with a professor who has actually some of the worst rate my professor reviews i have ever seen most of which talk about how she never replies to emails and/or didn’t start putting in grades until like the last two weeks of class and she’s currently refusing to even open the course until wednesday… head in hands
#the semester started today for reference#chesschats#the english chronicles#i tend to take english prof reviews w a grain of salt bc a lot of the time reading them im like this isn’t even that bad or i take the#class w them anyway and they’re literally perfectly fine or i even really like them. bc i am not a freshman or someone just taking it#for a gen ed and expecting to get an a out of it with zero time management skills or an understanding of basic academic writing#expectations lol. also just generally speaking it is always my easiest class of the semester so my perspective is a bit skewed. but i#don’t know abt this one folks i think i might actually be in trouble 💀#so anyway my plan was i’ll check out the course when it opens (bc most of the reviews ALSO talked abt how disorganized everything was and#how the rubrics weren’t clear on what assignments were supposed to actually be on?) and if it really looked that bad i would switch out#this english class for one on comics and graphic novels instead since they’re both async so might be a tad behind but altogether probably#no harm no foul since the deadline to switch out classes w no charge isn’t until friday#but um. this is not a good sign lol#i was actually initially planning on taking the comic/graphic novel one bc i missed this one (literature of american minorities) as an#option. but then i saw this and was like well the children’s lit class just had a unit on graphic novels and i don’t really feel like doing#more of that for an entire class rn. ALTHOUGH i will say i found out yesterday that maus and a memoir of allison bechdel are both on the#reading list which did almost tempt me to go back to it#but altogether i think this one would stretch my thinking and teach me more so ultimately decided on it. getting kinda 👀 abt it now though#particularly because this is a Hard semester for EEs it’s 11 credits of 12wk courses which is granted not as bad as most summer classes but#still accelerated and i have heard bad things abt two of those classes. and the async english courses are 6wk like do i really want to put#myself thru that on top of the near fulltime engineering course load… hm#and these are the only two english classes available for the summer at the 300-level (which i need for the minor) that aren’t centered on#teaching. except for another one on children’s lit but again just took a different one on children’s lit so don’t want that one either lmao

I finally finally finished Priory and honestly, I feel very meh about it. One of the reasons it took me so long was because I was starting to get bored halfway through 🥲 It kind of felt like the author couldn’t decide to focus on characters/relationships or the worldbuilding, and there were waaaay too many characters for the quality of the book imo. I expect giant character lists from a big high fantasy series but in this it just felt kind of aimless. I really don’t have much to say about it. It felt like there was so little chemistry wrt the main romance and most of the characters were so half-baked that I don’t feel like I really knew anyone. I appreciate certain things about it but tbh kind of disappointed I spent time on it. At least the fanart I’ve seen has been really pretty though.

Oh the agony of indecision! (Should I focus on Wylde Flowers this weekend, which is fully voice-acted and has a bit more plot than games of this genre normally do and therefore is not an ideal game to play while listening to an audiobook, or should I focus on my current My Time at Portia playthrough which I've played several times before so I can safely turn the sound down and try to get through my current book before the end of the month?)

every time i overhead smash something with my giant hammer i imagine it's this pop up
#i finally trained leylines for my glider and was like thank god i will never see ever again#oh boy was i in for a bad surprise#so now i gotta get this through several more expansions of content before it stops popping up while I'm in the middle of doing stuff#it also does it over and over when you're using the actual leylines since each one is several strung together#how hard is it to add a tutorials toggle guys#i am enjoying the game still but my god the user experience is a mess#and the whole thing is poorly designed for people trying to play anything but the latest stuff#like they did not put much thought into people who want to go back and play through the whole story#and what their experience might be like#it is also so so buggy#also annoyed rn that after lws1-2 it felt like some different writers stepped in who Did Not Like Women#the first two seasons were like women everywhere in every role and barely any dudes in the main cast#also the main npcs are your friends#then in hot it was like actually your friends are your subordinates and the entire world now revolves around you#and we need to remove or humiliate women in the cast or at least give them zero lines#like what is going on over there#I've heard the story improves as it goes but i liked lws1! (which was removed from the game for a long time???#despite being crucial to understanding the plot????)#now it's like one of my favorites got benched for pof and another is off babysitting some dudes manpain#manpain over a fridged female character#sometimes it's like someone read a list of the worst tropes ever and used it as an outline#when i played s1 i was like wow huge female cast and a ton of queer stuff#i guess that was seen as a Mistake and rectified#they should have added more gay stuff to hot and removed the snipers#seriously though i am going to murder this pop up#gw2mp#mp
