its a small thing but it made me smile that dj told his dad that he loves him. i feel like sometimes especially teen boys have problems expressing their feelings to their parents like that (in front of mom and sister in the car, no less), but theyve clearly built the kind of relationship where its natural and easy for them

Good morning friend! I'm so glad you called that out because of course it was very intentional and super important to see that. How often just in regular degular everyday living do we even hear that from our brothers, cousins, friends, etc. Father/son relationships are historically and notoriously strained. I wish it wasn't that way but, patricarchy. One thing about DJ, his dad is his best friend and he loves him to pieces!

Thanks, anonyfriend! It sucked because I took the first week of January as vacation time and I got the flu (or something — fever, aches, cough stuff, never tested positive for the cov) on Jan 1, AND I had signed up for a 3-week intensive writing class that started Jan 2. Then throw work into that mix and it was a lot, but what can you do. I'm all good now. (Finishing my final class stuff this weekend.) Pretty sure I got sick at Marshall's, btw. *shakes fist* (I'm now back to wearing a mask at the store and on the bus for the moment)

It's funny how thoroughly I don't give a shit about SVU when it's not on; I literally did not even know it was premiering on Thursday until the day before. Thank you for your well-wishes, heh. I hope those losers figure it out as well.

my personal disdain for chr1st1an1ty and its associated figures [santa, easter bunny, etc] appearing in-universe aside... leon doesn’t really like lying, and i think he’d find it difficult to reconcile lying to a child, even in fun? but he also encourages kids to have a sense of wonder, so i’m not 100% sure! i think it would really come down to what others have told the kid, whether the kid was enjoying the fantasy... that could really determine whether he played along. if he did have to break the illusion, he’d try to be very gentle and understanding about it. he probably would go ahead and do so if the kid asked about it directly.

💞 Do all parents parent equally, or does one spend more time with the children on a regular basis? How does this change as the children get older?

again, not 100% sure! it would really just depend on what happened in the future. if they decided to have kids, if raihan went back to being a gym leader or stayed champion for a long time... leon has things in the works to do most of his work from home in the future, so possibly he’d be the default parent around most just because he’d be spending the most time at home. ;)

😔 What are some of their worries/insecurities about being a parent? How do they deal with this?

one of leon’s biggest fears is already not being around enough for the people he loves. so even though he wants kids badly, assuming he and his partners could all agree to have them, he’d still want to wait until he had his own shit straightened out a lot better than he currently does. he’d make an effort to learn how to manage his time well and stick to a schedule, things like that.

he’s also worried about being a good role model. he knows he needs to work on looking after himself more often, rather than just telling other people to be good to themselves and turning around and doing the opposite. he wants to set a good example, and that should include taking care of himself physically but also not acting like things are fine when he’s actually upset. the last thing he’d want is to give a kid a complex because they can never tell whether their parent is mad or sad or whatnot.

Hello anonyfriend! I'm so happy there's interest in the 2nd part! Sunghoon is quite cold, isn't he? Is it all an act, or is he truly as cruel as Y/N thinks? There's many unanswered questions just from a small drabble, so it's with great pleasure that I respond to one of yours:

I dunno. But with any luck, what seems like a E2L Slowburn series will turn out to be a short oneshot! Series aren't really my thing but he doesn't seem to want to like Y/N yet, and vice versa.

Unfortunately I'm one of those pretentious Pantsers who says things like "the characters write themselves" and "I don't know how a story will go" and "if I know the ending, I won't want to write it" so honestly, I'm just gonna write and see what happens.

Long story short;; 😭 we'll both stuck waiting to find out whether or not Sunghoon likes-- oh, I jsut got an idea for the fic. Thanks anon+!!
