#anon with relatable issues
Note
too scared to post it on my blog so I'll just ask here in case someone relates. I'm hypersexual and sometimes, especially irl (because it's more rare to see someone being open about it there), I just feel safer with ace/aro people because it's like my brain just goes "oh, alright, they don't like this stuff. oh, I don't have to worry about them sexualizing me either"
it's not even like I get sexualized that often (well, if I try hard enough, yes), but there's just something about it. last time I fell in love, it was with a demisexual person, and I felt the safest in the world until she told me she had started feeling attracted to me. then it was a mixture of that "euphoria" when someone is openly sexual with me, happiness because I made her feel safe with me to do that, and fear because I didn't want to think of us differently, sexually, because it was safe before, and things had changed.
sorry for rambling, and please tell me if I said anything wrong, I don't know.
Hey, there's nothing wrong with you feeling like that. It can be very, very difficult to find someone who doesn't sexualize you. Not always, but a lot of times yeah. And it isn't at all strange to want to avoid that possibility entirely by hanging around people who mostly don't feel things like that. But hey, I know it's not much consolation; but if you're looking for someone who will love you and not sexualize you, there will be someone like that out there, promise. I've had a partner who basically just saw me as a way to pass the time and bend to their wishes. My beloved has had partners that started feeling sexual attraction towards it that felt awkward and strained and just- not in the right ways. I was so terrified of engaging in that sort of thing because I was scared it'd get upset and feel like I was doing it for its sake; Or I would have to leave it hanging at times and make it feel bad. But we talked about it, and I feel very secure and confident in what we have now. And I know if anything changed it would still be okay... Point is; people have been there, you aren't alone. And you can find somebody; whether they be a best friend or a partner or someone you think of as family. And I sincerely hope you find something <3.

This is a response to the person who sent the confession about starting to enjoy vaginal sex with their partner for the first time thanks to BG3 and fanfiction.
No, you're not pathetic. And you're not alone. In fact, thanks a lot for the confession. I completely related.
Anon is responding to this confession.
You're definitely neither pathetic nor alone anon, especially on this blog. And by sharing, you never know who your confession could be resonating with. So thank you for opening up to us!

Sorry (not) but I find anyone who acts like Blue is making something out of nothing when she’s mad Adam’s first question is about the kissing to be like. Deeply suspicious. Of course she is mad that’s the first thing he asked her! They’ve been walking on eggshells around each other and not really communicating since the last aborted kiss attempt which is on both of them to some degree, but when he comes around to her it’s only for this and when she has so many fears and insecurities about not properly belonging in the gang because she’s a girl (which is founded based on the fact aside from Noah they’ve all been misogynistic towards her at some point even if it was passive) and not being respected, when she’s also an outsider at home because of a different thing she can’t control. And you can not say that her feeling Adam is treating her like a thing to have and not a person he connects with is unfounded he again literally “I got Blue without you!” screamed at Gansey, consistently going to her after they fight (he did it end of TRB after repugnant too) to validate himself or just generally when he’s falling apart looking for validation from her like in the apartment scene. It’s not a bad thing to seek validation from your partner and in TRB before I’d say the last quarter I think Blue and Adam were genuinely connecting and developing a friendship while also exploring their feelings/attractions to each other, which did always have elements of seeking escape or validation for both of them in different ways, but it’s dissolved into that so much now. And I do think Blue is to some degree mad at Adam because he’s here and available to be mad at when she’s also mad at Gansey for it (I don’t think they’re *in the wrong * for not inviting her but they are in the wrong for not even considering she could want to go or at least want to be in the loop, also even though it’s Gansey’s party if Adam is trying to be her *boyfriend* it was kind of his place to ask her) so she’s conveying anger at Adam when the anger is for both of them, and also more general factors she’s frustrated by, but also Adam has the exact same response of channeling emotions that aren’t solely about Blue through their fights (and to his credit he is self aware that he does this) so again crucifying Blue for it is whack imo. Also to check myself on shipper-brain for the Adam-Gansey aspect of it, well obviously I read that here as a factor because I’m me, but for arguments sake on the premise Adam has No feelings about Gansey that are anything other than platonic Blue would still have a right to be mad about him prioritizing his platonic male friends over her and treating them with more respect, obviously, because misogyny exists (also these are not two contradictory readings in that I think they’re both factors. Signed an Adam Stan).
#Also the fact we learn here he hasn’t ever been to her room when they’ve been sort of dating for a bit..#like yes Adam has much more going on at all times so you could say it’s only about practicality but. Practicality does Not stop Adam when i#comes to spending time with Gansey and even in a sense Ronan in the same way and she’s right to call that out#and she’s also right he wouldn’t talk to Ronan in this way. just wrong about the reason because he does also want to kiss Ronan#just they have a different dynamic. you could read social class and gender as factors I think for sure#(just in case I get annoying anons for saying that I’m not talking in terms of Adam’s sexuality in that obviously he’s bi and into men and#women. but he does relate to them differently and I think analysis of Bluedam that doesn’t acknowledge that is a bit unserious)#and I don’t think Gansey is better about respecting women than Adam to be clear he’s really not.#but much in the way that Ronan and Gansey both have classist moments but Ronan’s seems to be more .. tolerable is the wrong word. But it#doesn’t manifest in ways that hurt Adam in the same ways it does when it’s Gansey. I think Gansey’s treatment isn’t harmful to Blue the way#Adam’s is. For reasons that are more about Adam and Blue and what relationships and treatment work for them rather than objectively tallyin#who is better or worse in terms of isms#but I would need separate posts to talk about that#s speaks#s rereads the dream thieves#trc reread notes#trc#hmm how do I tag these. I think I’ll just go for char tags and leave everything else#blue sargent#adam parrish#my meta#social class / internalized classism is obviously a big factor for both Adam and Blue and how they see each other and the other boys but#that feels more obvious and less like something anyone would take issue with me saying so I focused on it less although it’s very much ther

I genuinely have so much to say about König’s family and his relationship with all of them, but I plan to get into it more in detail when I do a short series on his teenage days :) basically all you need to know is that it’s a lot better now, but all of them basically used to be estranged.

really liking ik's dynamic with raphael already and i cant get this out of my head for when he becomes an exchange student too
rapheal: this is long overdue. it's time we talked, face to face
lucifer: *prepared for past related angst*
raphael: *walks past him to ik* i have so many questions about sharks for you
i love this.... raphael has found inner peace and learnt to let go of the past through increasingly technical animal facts, to the point where he and ik are learning a whole zoology degree's worth of information
ik will probably still make him talk things out with lucifer and/or simeon at some point, and of course this would be a proper serious discussion - but imagine with me for a moment the comedic hypothetical alternative:
raphael tries to have a serious talk-out of all his guilt (of both the religious and not religious kind), but he keeps accidentally slipping into animal metaphors the whole time. simeon's like "raphael i really appreciate the effort but i do not understand how the migratory patterns of seabirds relate to this"

Thoughts or tidbits about spite perhaps?
Only what you can share though! Don't feel too pressured to spoil styff
I just think he's pretty neat so I'd like to learn what I can about him ^w^
Sure!!
Nothing said here is gonna be canon, and that's mostly cuz this is all scrapped stuff.
Working on Invidia is... Hard. Genuinely speaking. So I have a lot of scrapped content for it that was used to build up bits about his character!
Some reference notes about THIS design!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
During this time while I was working on Spite, I had basically polished out a concept for Invidia. Mostly that Invidia was the name of what is basically Moebius during this period of development. I was reusing what little I understood or Moebius from Archie to craft this early version of the AU. At this point, only 6 main characters had been established.
Originally, in these early concepts Spite was more outwardly jealous and scheming.
Another important thing is that in these early concepts, Spite made Scourge. And Scourge made Spite. I frankly feel like I will revisit these concepts, but not in the way I originally planned.
Spite, as it stands now, hasn't changed all that much from my first crack at characterization. But he's not nearly as outwardly prone to acts of Jealousy as he used to be. He's a bit more secure in his relationship with Scourge. Mostly cuz he is the ONLY person Scourge truly gives a fuck about on a genuine level.
Hopefully, when more of Invidia is finished and I actually get their part of the story properly hammered out I can share even more and even start working on more shitposts for them. For now though, I'll stick to sharing small things.

Tbh the love is there in some capacity in majority of Dracula adaptations-31 one and Seward loves his daughter Mina and Mina loves her friend Lucy and etc. 58 one and Holmwood loves his sister Lucy and Mina loves her sister-in-law, etc. in fact I don’t remember Dracula adaptations where nobody cared about anybody at all, they all had human characters caring about some other characters and loving them.
I do not think that was what I was saying. It would be a bit absurd to say that none of the adaptations have any love between the characters. Unless there's a particularly grimdark version that I'm forgetting or haven't seen.
I was saying specifically that a lot of adaptations tend to underplay or significantly reduce the affection between Lucy and Mina (any version that has Dracula/Mina romance has to undercut her relationship with Lucy, because otherwise why doesn't it upset her that he preyed on the person she loved?) And/or make the suitors significantly less affectionate with each other, in some cases even jealous of each other. Those dynamics work is pretty key to the narrative holding together coherently. "In some capacity" doesn't really encompass the putting yourself in danger, going to the ends of the earth, banding together through anything kind of love that drives the narrative in the book.
As a side note, having forgotten most of the plot of 53 Dracula since it's been a while since I saw it, being reminded that Arthur and Lucy are siblings in that one threw me for a loop.

Hm... I haven't listened to the teen talk yet but I heard what Will had to say regarding the Sparrow-Normal situation and... Hm... I was apprehensive about this teen talk for exactly this reason so I suppose said apprehension was well-placed lol. I have thoughts aplenty (much of which is more on the meta end of things tbh) but frankly I haven't had the energy to write anything on the larger scale regarding the show for a while... Hm, maybe eventually. I guess this is mostly just a vent post lol.

Rachel could have put a warning saying her story isn't accurate to the myths it's based off and it would have been fine...ljke?? What reason did she have not to?
TBF she does have a disclaimer/warning, but it's shoved in the author's notes of the first episode:
Tumblr media
And it's still not even that great of a disclaimer, because besides the fact that it's shoved near the bottom of Ep 1 where no one reads, but she says "not designed to be cited as a scholarly source on mythology except in the analysis of literature, media, the arts, humanities, etc." which... can basically be broadly applied to anything people see fit.
That being said, she also argues that she's a "self-proclaimed folklorist". She barely has the sense to put trigger warnings in her comic, you want her to have humility, too? 😂
"I'm a self-proclaimed folklorist but I haven't studied it or anything in the sense that I haven't, like, gone to school and studied it, but I mean, obviously doing these comics is, like, my day job so research is a very important component so I study it in my free time..." - an actual quote from Rachel's audio interview with Temple of Geek
Don't get me wrong, I'm not some academic versed in Greek myth either, but y'all know that and I'm not gonna pretend like I am. In that sense, you're right, Rachel does nothing to remind people this is fanfiction. She does nothing to remind her fanbase that it's not okay to use her comic as fact in Greek myth discussions. She does nothing to hold herself or her fanbase accountable when her readers go and edit public wiki articles with inaccurate information ripped from LO. Either she just flat out doesn't give a fuck (irresponsible) or she genuinely thinks what she's doing is okay and doesn't see the massive issue with a white woman from New Zealand using another culture's religion and mythology as a way to make herself money in such a crude way (ignorant).
I often try my best to live by Hanlon's razor - "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." I'd like to think Rachel isn't doing this shit intentionally as a way to damage Greek myth stories or gentrify a culture, Greek myth would be the WORST avenue to try that because of how influential and massive it is.
But right hand to Kisúlk, I genuinely think she's just not that smart.

The live action Scooby-Doo movies?
I did not see this ask until RIGHT now (first time on desktop since crab day, second time since Nov 5 2020 [which was DOUBLY experience since I got my phone taken the same day]) so I'm going to assume this ask got eaten on mobile because tumblr, HOWEVER you poked a bear with this ask anon (as I'm sure you knew when asking) SO without further ado: my Scooby Doo live action opinions
So when you say 'live action Scooby-Doo movies' I'm assuming you're talking about the James Gunn films, starting with Scooby-Doo (2002) followed by Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, just due to like, generally popularity and also the fact that I have actually seen those films. However shoot another ask if you wanted me to include Curse of the Lake Monster in this (because I will if anyone cares and turn this into a live-action scooby dissertation, i'd just need to like. watch the movie first) But anyways where I'm going with this is that this post is about the Gunn movies aka the ones with SMG, Freddie Prinze Jr., Linda Cardellini, and ofc our #1 man, Matthew Lilliard.
Okay so my take on these movies is... complicated. I wouldn't say it's as complicated as my feelings towards SDMI, because I watched the live actions way less as a kid and generally care less about them, but still no matter how much shit I throw at these two movies there are parts that I generally like (even love) that stops me from totally condemning them wholesale. Like the fact that these movies are FUNNY! There's so many moments from this duology that are just beyond iconic "like, that's one of my favorite names!" the whole thing with Scooby in the dress at the airport, ET. CETERA (like I can go on!)
The Gunn movies are genuinely SO fun and I can 100% see and understand how they've stood so well in the public view as a representation of Scooby. HOWEVER, this is where you start to see my problems with them. For the general American, (because that is the audience I'm familiar with) ESPECIALLY millennials and younger, who happen to make up the majority of both people on this site AND people I talk about Scooby with in real life, these movies, and the elements they introduced as "quintessential scooby tropes" are the base of their understanding of the Scooby franchise, along with likely some miscellaneous WAY episodes and maybe SDMI.
Which is where I get pissed off. In the pushing of the narrative of "breaking away" from the Scooby norm, Gunn basically invents (aka totally makes up) an idea of what classic era Scooby was like, cementing an idea of classic Scooby into the public mind that is totally disingenuous and just straight up false. For example, in attempting to portray Daphne as having taken strides to be seen more seriously in solving mysteries and defending herself, it pushes the narrative that in the classic era she WASN'T taken seriously, and only existed as a damsel-in-distress prop of a character, which is just not true??? Like yes, Daphne is clumsy, that's a part of her character, and her friends (because, fun fact, the gang ARE friends) joke about it sometimes because that's what friends DO. Framing that in some kind of sexist "that's all she does" lens is just total bull, especially as gang members fall into secret passageways/get lost etc. in WAY ALL THE DAMN TIME because that's how the plot functions! Like are we calling Velma ditzy for losing her glasses every other episode? Of course not, and Fred falls into passageways all the time, not to MENTION Shaggy and Scooby and all they get up to. Also one last thing on the topic of Daphne, like this idea of her mystery solving skills not being respected by the gang is just so supremely bullshit it amazes me sometimes, especially when she was the LEADER (or leader adjacent) through pretty much all of her appearances in the 1980s [Not that James Gunn could look at '80s era Scooby without spitting on it, but I digress]
AND THIS IS JUST DAPHNE! Like the perceptions pushed towards Fred (and Velma, but mostly Fred) through these movies are just as bad! Like okay, with Fred---In these movies Fred is just an asshole. I hate Gunn Movies!Fred. I mean yeah he can be funny but it's almost always so mean! Almost nothing makes me madder than a mean Fred by the way. If he's putting other gang members down (even halfway, like with his whole "dorky chicks like you turn me on too" line, which... ew) then to me something has gone very, very, VERY, wrong in your basic understanding of Frederick Herman Jones as a character. Like he's the cheerleader! He puts himself in between his friends and danger! He loves nets, and traps, and Elvis impressions, and wrestling, and the trapeze, and cars, and most of all he LOVES sharing the things he loves with his friends! (Sometimes to a bit of an extreme. No one wants to hear about your net facts, Fred) And the live action movies just don't understand that at all. And I know there's maybe something to say I suppose in that some of those aspects of his characterization hadn't been "established yet" by the time "Scooby-Doo" came out in 2002. But it's there if you look. For Fred Jones, being the leader means being the caretaker, (he's the Mom friend what can I say) and any version where he's cruel and arrogant and just DOESN'T CARE about his friends in the way he's shown to in the Gunn movies is just so far from Fred to me it's not even funny. And what makes it even worse for me is that this (or at least something similar) is the idea of Fred that has really spread to the popular culture. Just the "leader", the jock that makes the rules, the one that [insert X adaptation here] finally gave a personality and made interesting (something that has been said more times than I can count for pretty much every gang member, save Shaggy and Scooby).
And I haven't even touched on Velma, and how they gave her a bit of a early 2000s smart superiority girl complex against Daphne, plus the whole makeover thing and etc. etc. The Gunn Movies are pretty much what would happen if you took someone who hadn't seen Scooby since they were 7 years old (and honestly had a pretty negative outlook against it then) and tried to "fix" it, only his memory was so bad he just made up problems (and threw in a good helping of early 2000s style sexism with it) convincing pretty much the entirety of the popular culture that said problems exist and that Gunn was absolutely brilliant for fixing them (and then bringing up said "problems" whenever anyone wants to talk about Scooby) and this entire rant has been without even fucking MENTIONING what is probably the reason you, anonymous tumblr user sent this ask in the first place, to I, Swishy "Scrappy Doo Redemption Arc" Broke-on-books (dot tumblr dot com), which is his HIGHLY SUCESSFUL and utterly sadistic character assassination of my number one man, Scrappy Doo.
And I am going to try my damnedest here not to get totally into my highly passionate opinions over what James Gunn did to Scrappy in the first of his Scooby movies and how thoroughly it has pissed me the fuck off because I have been writing this post for over an hour now and if we start to really get into my feelings on this topic it will certainly be a couple of hours more but like. That Fucking Bitch. I give James Gunn personally a solid eighty-five percent of the blame for making my life as a Scrappy Doo fan UTTERLY unbearable with this stupid fucking movie alone, and just his Scrappy crimes would honestly be enough for me to say that I hate this movie, not even considering the numerous Scooby crimes I've been talking about here for the past million paragraphs, but the part about this movie that makes me the MOST mad the most pissed off is that it's actually a good fucking movie. James Gunn wrote two hilarious and entertaining movies that have become beloved in the popular culture for their successes in that arena, while at the same time pissing all over the core themes and messages of the franchise of which it was based, that of friendship.
TLDR; The Live Action Scooby Doo movies (written by James Gunn) are highly entertaining and fun pieces of media to watch, and are widely loved by the general public and looked at with fondness and nostalgia because of that. However, as a hardcore Scooby Doo fan (writing that phrase sounds so ridiculous but oh well) the existence of these movies and their impact on the popular culture can be extremely frustrating (despite any personal nostalgia said fan may have) due to their spreading of a misinformed picture of what "typical Scooby Doo" looks like. This picture is especially frustrating due to the fabrication or exaggeration of problems present in classic Scooby (such as sexism in regards to the girls), as well as giving more ammunition to other problems in Scooby fandom (such as oversexualization, and sexualization in general, which no one wants to see in regards to their children's cartoons, like HONESTLY.) Discussions of sexism and sexualization in Scooby (both of which ARE present and are issues, although not at their worst in WAY) can often lead to an overlooking of the issues that are very present and clear in WAY and have continued since then with far too little resistance (I'm 100% talking about the racism here) HOWEVER that topic deserves at least a dozen posts of its own that I am no way informed or qualified enough to even begin to think about writing. The Gunn Movies are frustrating to many longtime Scooby fans because of these reasons, but for me, and fellow Scrappy Doo fans there is also the added aspect of the demonization of Scrappy Doo in the live action movies and the affects that has had on the popular culture as well, making it uniquely inhospitable to like or enjoy the character of Scrappy. End post.
#that last sentence is such a weird tone jump btw but its because the topic flowed one way and i had to jump it back to a summary to actually#finish this monster of a post#SO anon i hope you're happy with this and this makes my opinion make some more sense. and you or anyone else is more than welcome to ask me#questions about anything i said here or my opinion on any and everything scooby related (and not) so if theres a specific aspect of this yo#would like expanded on i can definitely 100% do that for you or anyone who cares#also there are many complexities towards my feelings on these movies that i didnt get to hit on despite the monstrous size of this rant (il#check word count later but im not gonna fuck with it now because im terrified of deleting this post by accident) one of which is my lasting#fondness towards all of the actors in this movie. YES including freddie prinze jr. i may have major issues with his fred but hes also playe#characters i really really like. for example hes the va in this tv show i LOVE and havent watched in like 10 months despite the fact im on#the last season because freddie's character dies in like 7 episodes and i am NOT AT ALL emotionally prepared for that on any level because#that is my fictional father goddamnit!!!!!#also every buffy the vampire slayer gifset that crosses my dash gets me closer and closer to watching it because oh my god daphne!!!!! that#sarah michelle gellar thats daphne oh my god!!!! also i went and saw guardians of the galaxy 3 with my friend (despite not having seen a#marvel movie in 2+ years AND holding a grudge over james gunn's scooby doo crimes)[the things you do for {platonic} love amirite?]#and the title sequence SAID linda cardellini was in it and i got SO excited i was looking everywhere for her it was like wheres waldo in th#discount movie theatre FOR REAL and i just could NOT for the life of me find her (turns out she was VAing the ferret) so in a way linda mad#me cry with that role. whatever. istg i get so off topic i forget what i was even talking about but ANYWAYS <<<1 of my fave english words b#dubs (my favorite spanish word is el amanacer btw. it means sunrise. also burbujas because its bubbles and saying it sounds like bubbles#popping) BUT. AS I WAS SAYING. SEND ME ASKS IF YOU WANT SCOOBY DOO OPINIONS. DEAR GOD I GET SCATTERBRAINED SOMETIMES.#scooby doo#answered#anonymous#blah

This anon looked through the winter banners jp text, and the eng translation is suprisingly accurate - except for one teeny tiny little thing that made me lol. Edelgards final confession line ('One final push to protect this night and ensure the tradition shines on.') in japanese is actually '聖夜の輝きがいつまでも続くよう… 人の手で守っていきましょう。' - 'So that the brilliance of the Holy Night can last forever... lets protect it with 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨.' Just... lmao.
ROFL
I already noticed it earlier, but yep, Pat still gotta Pat, even if he left the earlier suspicious "Every glimmer of light on this eve is a dream, a radiance produced by the ceaseless efforts of humankind."
tfw Supreme Leader thinks W!Fae is a chicken and not a lizard even if both are non humans?
Why the need to mention the efforts of "humankind" and not, say, of everyone?
All things considered, I like this Supreme Leader alt, it has her dork moments (when she had Hubert map the gift delivering itinerary), her Adrestian nationalism (Askr's Winter Festival will be so splendid that it will rival Adrestia's lol) and her bias against non-humans.
Compared to the entire bunch of nothing that were her summer alt's lines (you could lit swap her with Nyna and nothing would change) this alt here feels like Supreme Leader.

do you struggle with sensory issues? what's the worst one for you?
i definitely struggle with sensory issues! it's worst with my sense of touch and temperature. i'm really sensitive heat, texture, and pressure. it heavily affects what clothes i wear, the food i eat, where i can sit, how i sleep. if i don't follow my sensory needs (which, can fluctuate) in regards to touch, it can easily lead to meltdown, shutdown, or even physical pain and exhaustion. eating food i'm averse to also makes me feel sick, and upset.
im also sensitive to sound and visuals, nearly as much as i am with touch. too much noise to process at once very quickly overwhelms me, and messes make me feel on edge at best, and meltdown at worst. i feel like generally, i need very gentle stimuli. loose, soft clothing. low lighting, very little sound (or one sound source to focus on). i also need consistency - i can technically adapt to changes in texture and flavor, but it's distressing for me to do so.
smell isn't really a problem for me, though. i mean if i dont like the smell of something it definitely stresses me out, but i dont find that happening often. although i do have a heightened sense of smell - i call myself a human smoke detector because i always smell smoke before things even catch fire.
