The 90's dance superstars seemed to end up in one of the two modes at the end of the decade, i.e. stagnation or recuperation. For instance, Whigfield kept going on, though she's also a case, where you can glean a strange tendency with these projects after their successes. You observe their producers were already focused on their other outfits. I mean, the songwriter of Whigfield who also wrote many other Eurodance anthems set her sights on the solo career at the time, which could have reflected in the fact Whigfield's quality suffered from that. Then again, her chart climber felt like a fluke and how can you continue after that? Too many Eurodance hits felt like the throwaways that caught on, which made any possible follow-up a tough proposition.

Apparently Whigfield's management has like threatened websites for talking about the Whigfield/Annerly Gordon vocalist thing but I'm not a coward. I'm gonna talk abt it here and get tumblr DCMA'd up in this bitch

Anyway the whole thing is that """"allegedly""" 90's eurodance act Whigfield's vocals weren't actually provided by publicized frontwoman Sannie Carlson, but were actually performed by Annerley Gordon, which is...pretty much an open secret and also super obvious if you listen. Examples:

Annalise - Bad Love (vocals performed by Gordon)

Lolita - Try Me (vocals performed by Gordon)

Ann Lee - 2 Times (vocals performed by Gordon)

Whigfield - Saturday Night (definitely not performed by Gordon as a session singer despite it sounding identical to Gordon's voice and also Gordon herself saying that she provided vocals to this project in an unspecified capacity)

I have mentioned that the 90's European electronic musicians have a certain idealism in their tunes, though they also favoured the feelings of euphoria in their massive pieces. I mean, the song in the link by Corona should be seen as a celebration of that emotion, but that description might be selling this a bit short. You see, all these popular compositions from that period might seem like your usual party anthems, yet they contain some melancholy as well. Actually, I do ask myself why that is – are these works nostalgic on their own and do we feel wistful towards them? Whatever the answer to this might be, we must admit Corona captured the fleeting sensation of happiness by suggesting the other side of all this exuberance.
