hii i just read ur eddie x young reader. And i LOVE ITTTT
Can u please do something similar but with young neighbor reader? Where the reader moves in an apartment beside eddie . They meet each one day and they hit it off? (nsfw )
(Ignore this if u don’t like the idea or u can change it)
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
eddie brock x younger fem!reader
summary: you're what people call a ray of sunshine, probably the most likeable person in the planet. so why is this hot idiot next door so mean to you?
warnings: 18+ (minors dni), age gap (you know this blog lives by its name), smut, sunshine!reader x grumpy! eddie (cause his ass just got dumped lol), enemies to lovers (one-sided), kinda mean!eddie, porn with little to no plot, power goes out so they get freaky in the dark, use of pet names, p. in v. (unprotected) (use protection guys pls!!! unlike this dumbasses fucking raw in the dark), oral (m. receiving), creampie, no venom :(
word count: 4,069 words (it's almost midnight again, me thinks I've forever messed up my sleep schedule cause ain't no way inspo only grows as per my eyebags lol)
side note: got my first request on tumblr!! (insert scarlett johanson dancing in marriage story gif). i love looove the neighbours trope so much (hey! if i had a hot older neighbour i would be doing the most to interact with them, bet); hope this lives up to ur expectations even if i tweaked a few things! also, this happens after eddie gets dumped by anne and moves out of the house lol so he's angry, moppy, horny and dry. what if i make this a series tho, would you like that? requests are open!
You're what people call a ray of sunshine. Ever since you managed to talk, all that comes out of you is happiness: the first sound to come out of your mouth was a laugh, your first word was smile, you have Love as your second name, you made friends on real time record, the profession you chose was that of a patissier and the first ink to grace your skin was a little heart tattoo.
Okay, maybe you've made it your whole personality to be likeable. So what? It's not your fault you light up every place you go, that people love you effortlesly and that life seems to smile your way.
It's the way the cookie crumbles, a fitting phrase for a pastry chef like you. Your friends often joked about it: you, a sweet person, baking little sweet goods to make other's lives sweeter.
And you loved it: your life, your job, your family, friends, cat and little apartment in San Francisco.
There was just one thing missing: because no matter how sweet you made other's peoples worlds by existing, no one was there to make it for you.
Alright, you had enough love and just loved love for the sake of it. Sometimes, a tidbit of romance through your screen or through the couple-d lives of your friends sufficed such desire, but its a lie to say you haven't dreamed of your own.
So when Johanna, the girl who lives across you, comes rushing with the newest gossip: "hot new neighbour moving next door!", there's something that tells you it might be time.
"You have to see him" she emphasizes, "a total eye candy"
That ignites the curiosity inside you, and after some weeks hearing through your walls grunts next door and a constant shuffle of things originally packed in boxes, you find yourself knocking on his door, tray of cookies in your hands.
Yes, you did bake them for him. After all, your chocolate chip cookies are a killer! People do lines to get them at your aunt's cafeteria, just to taste the warm soft dough, the chocolate melting on their mouths. You do this for every other new neighbour that comes around, it's just how you are! But the cookie choice is totally intentional though.
The door flinges open, and for the very first time in years, you find yourself at loss for words; speechless.
The stranger before you is a face you'll never forget. Handsome, of course, but there is something alluring in his beauty, one you can't exactly name, but comes along in a pair of thick lips, brown warm eyes and ink sprinkled across strong arms. Your heart hammers in your chest, and it takes all in you to not drop the tray in your chest right here and now.
"Hey!" you find your voice again. Clearing your throat, you proceed. "You're our new neighbour, right? I'm y/n, I live next door. Thought you'd like something sweet to eat after all that effort" you push the tray to the front, "I made this myself!"
He just stares back, blinking. You think he may be confused by your random act, but it's quite normal to do so with newbies. You love welcoming acts!
The awkward stiffness he radiates doesn't deter you away, though. "This are for you" you insist, "or just take one, if you don't want them all..."
"I hate chocolate" he finally says, with such a scowl on his face, you'd think you killed his entire family.
Oh! He hates chocolate? Who hates chocolate?!
You suddenly feel small and stupid. Without much else to say, you don't know how to proceed. You have your way with words, but no one has ever rejected you in the cold open before. It's left you baffled.
Then, a light bulb goes on in your head.
"Wait, I know you!" he quirks an eyebrow. "You're that reporter from TV, Eddie Brock" you gush, "I love helping others, but what you do is amazing... you're, like on other level, giving a voice to those who don't have one"
You admired him; he was someone who was brave and cared.
"Not anymore" and then the door slams in your face.
It takes you a while to process there, standing in the eerie silence of the empty hall, that Eddie Brock may be the very first person in the world who doesn't like you.
In the end, you'd given the batch of cookies to the homeless people living around your building. Even if it made you feel good, the pang in your chest didn't go away. You simply couldn't forget about the incident (because of pride and embarrasment in equal parts), plus, the fact that he lived next door and you couldn't go on about your day without hearing him pace around his apartment, made the task of forgetting about it difficult.
So in the following days you've avoided him, which has been pretty easy so far, since he barely leaves his apartment and you're busy with work and stuff.
It's friday night, and with the next week's groceries in hand, you take the elevator. The door's about to close when it opens again. You can't believe it: after successfuly evading him for five days, Eddie Brock is trapped with you inside the reduced space; you shouldn't been lazy and taken the stairs instead.
"'Night" he mutters, and you swear you've gone deaf because you barely hear so. You don't know what to do, so you just stand there, clutching your tote bag a little too hard. It could be an accident: he's too drunk out of his mind and doesn't know it's you.
It's not like he's been so nice, but after his asshole-ish move last time you saw each other, you don't expect basic courtesy towards you either.
You get a whiff of his scent, mixed with traces of whiskey. It's unfair how intoxicating it feels―how it's got you wanting more of what isn't yours.
God knows it's been long enough since you've wanted a man this bad.
It's not until the elevator dings again that you realize you've been holding your breath the entire time.
"Bye, pretty"
He casually exits out into your same floor never looking back, without realizing the effect his words have on you, hope slowly making its way through the creaks of your open heart.
Okay, maybe it's your fault for raising such high stakes based on two words and a silly little drunk interaction. Maybe you deserve it: because you've become a bit obsessed with the fact that Eddie hates you, but after yesterday, you've already traced a truce in your mind.
Even Johanna has told you to be cool about it. "It's time someone didn't like you" she joked, but you didn't find it funny. She insisted it's not important, but to you it is! How can he not like you? Maybe if he had a valid reason, you'd stop insisting, despite the let down. But he doesn't have one! And you've been nothing but kind! You think too much about it because it doesn't make any damn sense: you're loosing your mind and your friend just laughs.
The only reason you haven't talked to him again, is because work load has catched up to you.
But now you're here, out on the street, and the first person you see is him: on top of his bike, ready to go out.
"Nice!" you chirp. It may not be a top brand, but the black vehicle is as cool as its owner: the leather jacket, worn out jeans and beat up look is an insane combination that may or may not have you drooling.
"Huh?" he looks back at you, and you swear your cheeks reddened in embarrasment at his deadpan expresion.
"Nice bike, I mean" you nervously laugh, fiddling with a loose string of your sweater. "I love seeing them, but I don't think I'll ever ride one. I get scared too easily, you know?"
He puts his helmet on, "Alright"
Not even a thanks or an attempt of a small talk; what an idiot. Didn't he talk to you last time? Called you pretty? Why is he acting so curt right now?
"Hey, what is your pro-"
Your question doesn't get to be finished, because the engine roars and he's out of there, leaving you confused inside a cloud of smoke, the trail leaving with your last sparks of hope.
It's one of those nights where you just want to lay down and let sleep take control of your body. As soon as you get in your comfy pajamas and sink in the mattress, a noise erupts through the air. Startled, you raise on your feet, the slumber long gone.
Fuck. This hasn't been your week, has it?
The noise comes from outside, and you know who it is: the guy who lives in the corner, right next to the window; he who brings too many women home and plays his guitar a little too loud. It's late an he isn't getting the memo, clearly.
You swing your door open, ready to give him a piece of mind (and perhaps dump your accumulated stress from the week), until you realize you aren't the only one outside on the hall. It's Eddie, and he looks just as pissed as you do.
"Can't sleep?" he asks in a mocking tone, all while avoiding your eyes, rather focused on the common enemy's door.
"What do you think?" you reply, equaling his tone.
You both agree in silence, walking to his door. After some knocking, the guy opens his door: less thrilled when he sees Eddie and more complaint when he sees you.
"Sure, sweetheart. I'll keep it down" and winks. The nerve of this guy. Even Eddie is frowning, surely annoyed at his lack of etiquette. "You can knock anytime, noise or not".
The door closes, but it's Brock who did it, not guitar guy. You're too tired to ask, and after picking what's left of your dignity around him, you decide it's best to walk back to your apartment.
"You know what's funny?" you stop your tracks, laughing, but it's devoid of amusement, "I lost my sleep".
He just stares back, and you're tired of the way conversations have to run by your side, for the very first time. You keep on walking, but as soon as your hand touches your doorknob, he speaks up:
"Goodnight" a small truce, you think. But you're not falling this time.
So you do the right think: walk inside without saying a word, and just like him, never looking back.
You wake up agitated in the middle of the night. It's raining: not just a normal rain but a huge storm. You look over at your alarm, noticing its characteristically red numbers are as pitch black as the sky above you. It's also thundering, and God, do you hate noises and thunder.
You jump again at another one cutting through the sky, and decide it's for the best to just stay awake until it's time to wake up. According to your phone, you have about three hours until morning rises. That's enough time to watch a movie or two. Even to pet your cat, which is laying next to your bed, clearly unbothered―unlike his owner.
But there's a problem: when you try to turn the switch, no lights go on. Your incredulous laugh ecos in the room.
Not only a storm, but also a fucking black out.
Scare slowly creeps up, and the shivers you feel are definitely not only because of the temperature drop.
So you grab your phone and head out, without clearly thinking and obviously in panic, because the first thing you do is knock on your neighbour's door.
Eddie's.
"Oh!" it takes a while for him to answer his door, but when he does, his phone's flashlight burns your eyes. "Sorry" he apologizes, and you don't know if it's for that or the fact he didn't answer; maybe for everything too, "didn't hear the knocking with all the thunder".
You say it's fine, that you're just checking to see if you're not the only one without light.
He flicks a nearby switch to no avail, "I'm afraid everyone in the whole building too"
Eddie probably notices your frightened state, the way you shiver like a lost puppy, and feels sorry.
"Wanna come inside?" he offers, hands inside his grey sweater's pockets.
For the very first time since you met him, he looks at you, but really looks at you: eyes roaming over your body, an all too familiar feeling painted across his brown orbs.
You realize a bit late what you're wearing: a teensy short and top, a set of pajamas that happens to be your most comfortable. Favorite too. Appropiate for this emergency meeting? Maybe not.
"You want me to?" you asked, confused. "I thought you hated me"
The only sound across the hall is the droplets of rain outside, some tapping in the window next to you and his apartment.
He looks rather embarrased, "I don't".
"Then you're just an idiot" you counter back, and he doesn't fight you about it.
"Fair" he says, "I can make some coffee?"
Maybe he's pretty convincing or you're a people pleaser, but as soon as he proposes, you're caving in just like that.
"Fine, but you better let me bring my cat"
Truth is, Muffin plays hard to get, but now he's resting in Eddie's lap―purring, as you two sip quietly on your coffee. Traitor.
"I used to have a cat" he says, cutting through the silence.
"Oh!" you leave your mug on his table, next to the candle; the only source of light in the room, "didn't think of you as a cat person".
"Tecnically, it belongs to my fiancée. Sorry, ex-fiancée" he makes a pause, "bet that cat doesn't miss me".
"I didn't know you had a, uh-" you're not sure how to proceed, so you trail off. Muffin jumps from Eddie's lap to the kitchen, lost in the dark.
"Yeah, I had a fiancée, cat, house, and job. Then I lost everything" he dry chuckles, humorlessly, "guess that's why I'm so bitter"
"I'm sorry" you say on the most sincere tone you can muster. Eddie wonders how can you be so kind and forgiving, especially after he's been nothing but an asshole to you.
"Doesn't mean I should've been a douchebag for no reason. You didn't deserve it" he apologizes, embarrased.
You stay in silence for some more time but then he says: "Not an excuse, but it's been real bad days"
The candlelight is so flickering, you don't know if he's seen your eyes, but by the way he gulps, you think he did.
"Maybe... I could offer a helping hand"
Why had you said that? Are you out of your mind? You barely know the guy, who, by the way, had been a jackass to you like, five minutes ago. But he's hot! And you love to help!
Jesus, talk about dignity and boundaries.
"Y-you would?" he stammers, but the way his hand travels to your lap reveals nothing but security.
He's not asking if you've gone insane or what exactly you mean by that: he's just asking if you would do it.
Would you help?
"Don't you know, Eddie?" your voice drops a sultry octave, "I love to help".
You lean close enough for him to smell the cinammon scent of your skin. Soon, he's leaning too, playing along even against his better judgment. It's too soon, but he's so drawn into you and can't resist it no more; ever since he met you.
His cock twitches in his pants, "help me, then"
It happens too fast, one second you're sipping on your coffee, looking like the most warm and softhearted person in the world and now you're on your knees, deep into his carpet, tugging at his belt with your teeth, a hunger he hasn't seen before in your eyes and filthy needy mouth.
Sex with Anne was sweet and normal. Vainilla. You smell like it too, but there's a difference: you have the appetite of a siren.
Using your hands, you remove the leather your teeth had beggin with, moving them to tug his ripped jeans down, pulling the zipper too in the process. You keep using your mouth, now to get rid of his boxers, where the outline is tight over his cock. Eddie finds himself so aroused to the point he feels hot, even if there's a storm outside and the candle barely provides warmth.
"You sure have a mouth" he mumbles in ecstasy, drunk in the sight of your glimmering lips, coated in saliva. He's dripping too: everywhere.
His cock bounces out, almost hitting you in the face.
"Look at you" you coo, "already dripping for me. What a pretty cock you've got, Mr. Brock"
Fuck, he's going to hell after this. But you can't corrupt what's already corrupted.
"Then you better show me what you mean"
You lick the tip, already leaking with precum. He tenses momentarily, and then stiffle a moan when you take his balls into your mouth, a similar sound coming from you. You suck lightly at them, running your tongue along the sensitive skin.
His hips buckle into your face, and you have to chuckle at the fact it's probably the first time he's ever has his dick sucked this good.
"Don't stop" he huffs.
You obey, tongue tracing along the underside of his cock until you're back at his tip. Eddie's still inside his drunk haze when he feels you taking all of him inside your mouth in one single movement.
"Fuck-!" he chokes out, the thunder outside shutting the vulgar sounds coming out of his plush lips. "Think you can take more?"
His large hand touches the back of your head and pushes it forward with force. His cock presses deeper into your throat, tip hitting the back of it. You feel yourself gag, but the wet spot that's starting to form in your panties says otherwise.
He twists your hair tightly, holding you in place as he fucks your throat with his cock. You feel tears, and Eddie thinks he's never had a prettier sight than you: glossy eyes, looking up to him as you take all his cock.
"I know you can, baby" he presses, "help me like you said you would, yeah?"
His fat cock is blocking your air supply, but the subtle motivation and praise in his eyes is enough to keep you going, thought your throat ends up bulging from the size of his cock, stretching out to accommodate his size.
You said you would help, right? And even if you always do it for the altruist reward, something about being used in such a vulgar and rough way has your chest and panties feeling warm.
Brock groans, body sweating and muscles tense. He yanks you up by your hair, chasing the orgasm like an animal, every movement feeling almost primal.
"Stay there" he feels it coming, "don't move".
You gurgle something, spit rushing down your chin and dripping onto your chest.
"It's almost over, sweetheart" his eyes roll back, head resting on the coach he'd barely used until now, where he's fucking you in the mouth, "I knew that filthy mouth of yours could take me"
You open your mouth wider, anticipating. Tension releases: and he's pounding out his orgasm in your throat, hips banging into your face. You swallow it all, even if you can't taste it since he was so deep in you. He pulls out, a string of spit connecting his tip with your lips.
"Thanks" his voice comes out rough, "you do know how to help those in need"
You wipe your chin with your hand, voice hoarse, "I suppose"
There's some silence afterwards, and now Eddie is cursing he doesn't know what else to say.
"Power is still out" he speaks, "we've got some hours left until the sun rises again"
"So what's your idea?" you giggle, "tell scary stories in the dark?"
You both laugh, but you stop and deadpan. "Please don't, I get scared very easily" and you pout those pretty lips of yours out. How can you be such an adorable but greedy girl? It's hard to believe you're the same person.
"Not that" he swallows thickly. Why is he doing this? Was a blowjob (a fantastic blowjob, by the way) by a young insatiable thing like you enough to make him go mad? "I want to help you too".
Before you protest, he's pulling you and sealing your lips with a hot kiss. His tongue slips into your mouth, playing with it. He pulls out, biting your lower lip.
"Eddie" you whine, "b-bed, now"
He's supposed to be older and smarter, so why is his resolve melting away this quickly? Following your orders immediately, your back bouncing on the soft mattress of his bed. As soon as you lay, his lips trail kisses down your throat.
"God, you smell so good" you giggle, "bet this pussy will taste as sweet, huh?"
His cold fingertips grace the fabric of your tiny shorts and the touch gives you goosebumps, "look at you" he tugs your panties, nudging at your cunt. "So soaked... is this for me, baby?"
"Yes, Eddie" the way you say his name is enough to make even the strongest man fold, his dick jolting in response. "Take it"
Both of you remove your clothes in such a hurry, you hope you haven't damaged your favorite pair of pajamas.
"Let me see her" he demands, so you spread your legs, revealing your dripping pussy.
When you kiss again, the underlying carnal desire is mutual, saliva connecting in a silver thread as you both gasp for aire. Your hands wander across his chest, fingers playing with his tensing muscles.
"I promise to reward her, okay?" he lines his cock up with your entrance, the fat tip nudging against you, sticky with precum.
You're desperate with anticipation, practically begging, "please do".
He pushes inside you fully, balls slaping against your sticky clit hard. He’s so deep, pushing against your cervix and stretching you out with each thrust, making even the task of breathing painful and laborious.
Brock feels like he's ruined you, yet you look rather content. You've been used to giving; your kindness of a caretaker nature. You're used to giving your all and not receiving, so with every new thrust against you, his hips slamming, you know you'll never feel this pleasure again with anyone else, the delicious sense hitting you in waves that make you feel dizzy. So, in a way, he has ruined you.
"That desperate for me to fill you?" there's no answer, but the sound of rain and skin clapping against skin.
"Yes, give it to me” you sob, "Eddie, please!"
"Focus on taking it" he guides you. It may make him a pervert, but he isn't changing the sheets any time soon; they'll be covered in you and he'll smell them everytime he gets inside them. "I'm gonna cum"
You moan, lightly tugging at the strands of damp hazel hair. He chokes out a husky groan, heat pooling on his stomach.
Eddie's dick twitches inside you, cum filling your eager insides with the biggest load you’ve ever felt. Your pussy clenches, spasming, wrapping tighter around his length in a needy way, your high coming almost at the same time.
Both your breathes come out in ragged pants. He nuzzles against your neck, skins equally damped.
"Fuck"
As soon as those words leave his mouth, the power returns. You should go now, as this is the reason you stayed, but none of you make the move to leave.
"Stay?" he pleads, "It's still raining outside"
How can you say no to those brown puppy eyes? Does he think he can fuck you this good and then make you leave?
"Alright" you swear he smiles, and it's the prettiest smile you've seen in your life. Could you fall this easily in love? "But turn off the lights: I have work tomorrow and need some sleep"
"Whatever you say, baby" he nips at your lower lip, "you know I love to help"

The mid-morning sun cast a golden hue over the winding suburban streets as Azure maneuvered her car down the narrow lane, the weight of her life packed in boxes behind her. The soft hum of the engine barely registered over the pounding in her chest as she approached her new house in Pensacola.
She hadn’t told many people she was moving. And only her parents and her best friend, Jade, knew why. It wasn’t as if she could explain it easily. She didn’t even know if it was the right decision. All she knew was that the three years since her husband’s death had felt like drowning, and she was desperate for air. So she had left the life they had built together—left the house that was filled with echoes of their love, the memories of his laugh, the phantom touch of his hand on her skin—and driven away.
A new start. That’s what she needed. No ghosts here.
Her house was tucked in the back of a quiet neighborhood, isolated enough to provide peace but not so far removed that she’d feel entirely alone. As she pulled into the driveway, Azure cut the engine and sat for a moment, taking in the sight before her. The house was modest, a one-story home with a decently-sized porch and a yard that needed a little attention, but it was hers. Or it would be once she stepped out of the car and claimed it.
She didn’t move.
Not yet.
Instead, she let her gaze drift to the rearview mirror to look across the street, where another house stood. It was slightly larger than hers, and there were a couple of cars parked in front of it. Two men, tall, tattooed and muscular, stood on the front lawn, laughing over something while a little girl, no more than five years old, ran in circles all over the grass. A woman stood not too far from them, with a contagiously warm smile and beautiful deep brown complexion.
Azure smiled faintly. She had always loved children. Being a pediatric nurse had brought her comfort over the years, a way to focus on helping others instead of drowning in her own grief. Maybe in this new place, she could find some semblance of herself again.
A sudden vibration pulled her from her thoughts. Her phone screen lit up with a slightly graying man holding the 2-year-old version of herself, the name ‘Pops’ with a blue heart emoji sat at the top of the screen. Azure smiled, pressing the answer button.
“What’s goin’ on Tink?” Her father’s deep voice came through the line, warm and reassuring. “You all settled in yet?”
“Hey Pops,” she said, leaning back in the seat and closing her eyes for a moment, chuckling softly at the sound of her nickname before exhaling slowly. “Almost. I checked out of the hotel earlier this morning and grabbed most of my stuff from the storage place. I’m sitting in my car trying to muster the energy to take all these boxes.”
“Y’know, I would’ve been down there in a heartbeat to help if it wasn’t for this damn knee.” Her father’s voice was filled with regret, though she could hear the slight humor behind it. Eric had always been a man of action, being an Air Force veteran, and being stuck in recovery after knee surgery was a particular kind of torture for him.
“I know,” Azure said, a smile tugging at her lips. “It’s okay. I got this. You need to focus on getting better.”
“Well, I’ve got a new knee now, so I’m basically a bionic man,” he joked. “Once I’m fully up and runnin’, you won’t be able to keep me away.”
In the background, she could hear her mom, Anne, laughing.
“Bionic man? Chile, please,” her mom’s voice chimed in. “You’re more like the Tin Man from The Wiz, creaky joints and all. Next thing you know, you’ll need a can of oil just to get out the damn bed.”
“A ki-ki,” her dad replied, mockingly. “I might be old, but m’still quicker than you give me credit for.”
Azure laughed softly, the sound easing the tension in her chest. She could always count on her parents to make her feel better, no matter how much weight she was carrying. And right now, it felt like a mountain.
“How’s Ma doing?” Azure asked, knowing her mom could hear her.
“Surviving this old man, baby.” Anne called from the background, teasing as always. “Barely.”
“Be nice to him now,” Azure said, smiling as she imagined her mom giving her dad a playful shove. “You know you’d be lost without him.”
“Lost? I’d be free,” her mom shot back, chuckling.
“Sure you would,” her dad said dryly. “Anyway, you all settled in then?“
“Yeah, everything’s here. Might go out and grab a few more things later on.” Azure replied, leaning her head against the headrest, watching a couple of kids riding their bikes down the street. The neighborhood was peaceful, quiet. It was almost surreal how different it felt from her old life. “It’s a nice area, though. Feels... safe.”
Eric paused on the line, and Azure could sense what was coming next.
“You sure you’re okay? I mean... all this moving, leaving your job, your friends—it’s a big change. You don’t have to do it all alone, y’know?”
She bit her lip, grateful for his concern but also not wanting to get into the emotions she had been avoiding since making the decision to move. “I’m okay Pops. Really. It’s just... time. Time for something new. I think I need this.”
“I get it,” he said softly. “And you know your momma and I are just a phone call away if you ever need anything.”
“I know.” Azure’s voice caught slightly, but she cleared her throat. “I’ll call you guys later. Give Ma a hug for me.”
“I will. We love you baby .”
“Love y’all too.”
She ended the call and placed her phone in her lap, staring at the house again. Her new life, or at least the next chapter of it, was waiting behind that door. She just wasn’t quite ready to face it yet.
A gust of warm wind brushed against her face as she stepped out of the car, stretching her arms before looking up and down the street. Large trees lined the sidewalk and a variety of plants scattered across front lawns. It was so different from the city bustle she was used to. Azure tugged at the hem of her tank top, adjusting her sunglasses atop her head before taking a deep breath and heading towards the open trunk of her car. She began to place a few of the boxes on the ground, stacking them high enough to where she could carry them. She did her best to try to push the button that would close the trunk, before hearing a bit of commotion coming from across the street.
“Go over there, you see her struggling!”
“Ow! Damn!”
“A’ight, a’ight! We goin’!”
“Stop cussing in front of Audrey, Jey!”
“Mmcht, that’s not even a bad word!”
Just as she managed to finally close her trunk, two men emerged from across the street with nervous yet easy-going smiles. They were dressed casually, both in basketball shorts and t-shirts, clearly enjoying the holiday weekend. The man, with two long cornrows and a wide grin, waved cheerfully. "You must be the new neighbor."
Azure forced a smile, hoping it didn’t look as awkward as it felt before setting the boxes on the concrete. “Yeah, that’s me.”
“I’m Jimmy,” he said, extending his hand. “And this is my brother, Jey.” The other brother, with a freshly shaped up mullet, and his twin from what she saw, gave her a small wave before continuing to soothe the side of his arm. “We live across the street... well, technically, our cousin lives there.”
“As much as we over there that might as well be our house too.” Jey adds. “We just watching our lil’ cousin while he’s on call today.”
Azure’s brows furrowed slightly in confusion.
“Firefighter.”
“Yeah, you’ll see him runnin’ up and down the street with his shirt off, flexin’ his muscles eventually,” Jimmy joked, nudging Jey, who laughed along.
“Aye, speak for yourself,” Jey teased. “Uce is way too serious now for all that.” Before Azure could respond, Jimmy leaned against her car with an easy smile. “Need help with your boxes? My wife saw you strugglin’ over here.” He nodded his head towards the front yard where the woman and little girl continued to play. “We could help unload your stuff, we got some muscle.” He continued, slapping Jey’s arm in the same reddened spot Naomi had smacked him in earlier.
Azure blinked, taken aback by their sudden friendliness. “Oh, you really don’t have to—”
“Nah, we insist,” Jey said, waving off her protest and playfully raising his hand at his brother. “We already out here, and you look like you got a lot of boxes.”
Jimmy nodded. “Yeah, looks like you in for a long weekend. Plus you'll get to meet more people if you not buried under a mountain of cardboard.”
Azure laughed softly, the sound surprising even herself. It had been so long since she’d laughed with anyone besides her family, and for a moment, the tightness in her chest loosened. “Okay, fine. If you don’t mind, I’d appreciate the help.”
Jey clapped his hands before rubbing them together. “Yessir! Let’s get to it!”
She watched as Jimmy jogged across the street to say something to his wife before returning next to Azure’s car trunk. The twins grabbed the heaviest boxes and followed behind her as she unlocked her front door, holding it open as they stepped through.
“You can just sit them down in here.” She pointed to the bare living room floor.
They obliged, and the trio spent the next thirty minutes carrying Azure’s things into the house. As they hauled the last box inside, Azure took a moment and looked around. Her new home was still bare, with unpacked boxes scattered everywhere, but for the first time in a long while, it didn’t feel so overwhelming.
“Thanks so much, you guys,” she said, leaning against the doorframe. “I really appreciate it.”
“No problem,” Jimmy replied. “We know how it is, moving to a new place and all. Speakin’ of which—” He exchanged a glance with Jey, who smiled before turning back to Azure. “We’re havin’ a uh, small get together for Labor Day in a few days, before the kids gotta go back to school. You should come. Meet some more folks.”
“Yeah,” Jey added. “And I’m grilling. Best steaks you’ll ever have in your entire life.”
Azure hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “I’ll think about it. I’ve got a lot to get through with the move, but I’ll see if I can make it.”
“No pressure,” Jimmy said with a grin. “Just good food, good people, maybe a couple of bad jokes from baby bro here.”
“Nah, that’s all you, Uce,” Jey chimed in, shaking his head, laughing. “The rest of us are hilarious.”
Azure laughed, feeling some of the earlier tension in her chest loosen. It had been a long time since she’d been around anyone who didn’t know her story, her loss. The weight of it usually hung in the air, but with these two, it was easy—light.
“Thanks for the invite. I’ll try to stop by,” she said, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
“No problem,” Jey replied. “And seriously, if you need help, just holla at ya uce!”
They exchanged goodbyes, and as Jimmy and Jey headed back across the street, Azure found herself watching them. The little girl, Audrey, ran to greet them, her small arms wrapped around Jimmy’s leg. Azure smiled again, the sight tugging at something deep inside her. She missed that kind of innocence, the unguarded joy children had.
She sighed, stepping back inside her house, the quiet suddenly pressing in around her again.
The move had been a good distraction, but the moment the door closed, the familiar pang of loss crept in. The weight she carried was never truly gone, even in new surroundings. She could feel it in the silence of the empty house.
But maybe this new place, this new life, could be different.
Maybe.
She removed her sunglasses from her head before putting her curly hair in a low bun, thinking of the cookout invitation. The idea of meeting new people was intimidating, but also strangely comforting.
She exhaled slowly. It was time to unpack, in more ways than one.
The emergency room was buzzing with activity, the usual rush of nurses, doctors, and paramedics filling the air with an almost palpable energy. The sterile smell of antiseptic hung in the air, a constant reminder that Azure was in a place of healing, yet one brimming with urgency. Azure stood beside Bianca, the lead nurse who was guiding her through her first few weeks at the hospital. Though she had worked at other medical facilities, Central Pensacola Children’s Hospital felt different. Everything was new—new routines, new people, and new expectations. The weight of her personal loss was something she carried, but the chaos of the ER was an easy distraction. She’d been a pediatric nurse for nearly five years, and while each day brought its own challenges, today felt different—more charged, somehow. Maybe it was the change of scenery, or maybe it was the lingering weight from the night before. Either way, she couldn't shake the unsettling feeling that had settled deep in her chest.
She glanced at her watch, noting that it had only been three hours into her shift, but it already felt like a long day. Just as Azure was about to take a breather, the familiar sound of an ambulance pulling up to the emergency entrance flooded her ears. Instinctively she straightened, refocusing her attention. Moments later, the doors swung open, and a team of paramedics rushed in, wheeling a stretcher with a little boy whose cries echoed through the hallway.
Azure felt something shift in the air as another man entered the room. His presence was powerful—he carried himself with a quiet, commanding energy, but understated—like a steady flame that didn’t need to burn brightly to be felt. He was tall, broad-shouldered, with long dark hair that was pulled back yet slightly tousled.
Bianca nudged Azure forward as they moved towards the patient. "That’s our guy," Bianca muttered softly, not bothering to hide the slight admiration in her voice. "Roman Reigns. One of the best firefighters in the city. Always brings them in safe."
Azure took a deep breath and focused on the task at hand, but as she approached the gurney, her eyes inadvertently met Roman’s.
Roman’s gaze lingered on her for just a moment longer than she’d expected before he shifted back to the child. "Possible broken arm. Fell off the jungle gym at the park," Roman explained, his voice deep and steady. He had done this countless times, and yet there was something almost gentle in the way he spoke about the boy’s injury. "He’s been in a lot of pain, but he’s stable."
Azure nodded, moving to the boy’s side. "Hey there, little man." she said softly to the boy, who looked up at her with watery eyes. "We’re gonna get you all fixed up, okay?"
The boy gave a small, hesitant nod, still clutching his arm. Azure reached out carefully, making sure not to touch the injured area, and offered him a reassuring smile. Definitely a broken arm. Nothing life-threatening, but enough to send the boy into a fit of tears. Meanwhile, she could feel Roman’s eyes on her, watching her interact with the patient. It was strange—the way she felt under his gaze—not uncomfortable, just very noticeable.
As she stepped aside to let Bianca take over, Roman moved closer to Azure, close enough that she could feel the faint warmth of him. His voice was low when he spoke, almost like a murmur just for her. "You’re new here."
It wasn’t a question, just an observation. Azure glanced up at him, her heart skipping inexplicably. "Yeah," she replied, doing her best to keep her voice even. "Just started a couple weeks ago."
Roman nodded slowly, his eyes studying her for a moment longer before he shifted his attention back to the boy. "You did good with him," he said, his tone softer, almost approving. And then, as quickly as it began, the moment passed. He gave a short nod toward Bianca, who was now checking the boy’s vitals, and walked away from the gurney.
Azure busied herself with the task at hand, helping the little boy get settled in the examination room. But even as she worked, she was acutely aware of the man outside. She didn’t know why, but something about him tugged at her, a pull she couldn’t quite explain.
Minutes later, as she stepped out into the hallway to grab a few supplies, she found herself face to face with him. He was just leaving, handing off paperwork to the desk.
“Hey,” he said, his voice low and steady. “Everything okay with the kid?”
Azure nodded, suddenly feeling an odd flutter in her chest. “Yeah, just a broken arm. He’s a little scared, but he’ll be fine.”
Roman nodded, glancing back towards the room briefly. “Glad to hear it.” He paused, as if considering whether or not to say more.
He opted against it, and as he walked away, Azure found herself standing there, staring after him for a moment before heading back to find Bianca. She didn’t know him—didn’t know anything about him—but something about the way he’d looked at her, the way he carried himself with a mix of strength and humility. She shook her head, pushing away the strange feeling that had taken root in her chest, but the pull lingered, deep in the back of her mind, refusing to let her go.
Bianca approached her as the boy was wheeled to X-ray, giving Azure a sly smile. "You’ve got good instincts," she said, putting a hand on her shoulder. "And good job keeping him calm. You're doing great, girl."
Azure smiled, appreciating the praise. "Thanks, Bianca."
Just as they began to walk back to the station, Dr. Rollins, the lead pediatric doctor, approached them. He gave Bianca a brief nod before turning his attention to Azure. "Nice work today, Azure. I know things have been pretty fast-paced the past couple of weeks, but you’ve handled it well."
"Thank you, Dr. Rollins," Azure replied, her voice steady, though her mind was still on Roman’s fleeting but intense presence.
Bianca nudged her again, playfully this time. "Looks like you’ve caught some attention already," she teased as they walked toward the nurse’s station.
Azure gave a light laugh, shaking her head. "It’s nothing like that."
"Mhm, sure," Bianca grinned knowingly. "But, hey, I’m just saying… Dr. Rollins's not the easiest person to impress. If he noticed you, it’s something."
Azure forced a smile but didn’t respond. As they walked away from the trauma bay, Azure couldn't shake the anxious feeling of this new beginning.

Dear Brother, I hope this letter finds you well as always, I know it’s been a while, I’ve been real busy lately. I met someone recently, and I don’t know what it is, but… there’s just something that I can’t shake. There’s this… feeling, maybe a good feeling? I don’t know. It's throwing me off. Haven’t felt it before. It’s hard to explain, but it’s not something I can just brush off. I’m not sure where this will go, but I’ll write to you once I know more. I miss you. I think about you often, especially when things get tough. It feels strange sometimes, like I’m starting this new chapter on my own, but knowing you’re out there somewhere, helps me feel less alone. I love you, I’ll make time to write to you sooner. I promise.

Masterlist Chap 1.
Chapter Two
The next morning you awake to an old chest half your size in the middle of your room. On top of it, there’s a note. “ I was informed this morning that your bag was lost in transit and they’re unable to locate it. I took the liberty of getting you some clothes to wear while you’re here. I hope they fit you and if they don’t we can make adjustments.
A. “
A bit bummed at the loss of your clothes, you open the chest and immediately forget about what small things you packed in your bag. The first piece of clothing was a soft pink sundress with white flowers on it. The Queen Anne neckline was lined with white lace and you loved it instantly. Setting it aside to wear it for the day. There were multiple sets of silk pajamas. Pretty nightgowns and fluffy slippers and beautiful shoes (that were all your size). You giggled like a child in the long mirror against the wall, swaying this way and that.
Granted, in your job description you wore clothes that kept your skin safe from poisonous spiders, cobwebs, and splinters. But the knowledge that Adrian had picked these out to lend you made butterflies spring to life in your belly and you couldn’t resist thinking of what he’d think of you in them.
Deciding to bathe before you start your day, you enter the bathroom and examine the large tub and new shower head. The place was spotless and smelled of lemon. You turned on the faucet and allowed the hot water of the shower to steam up the room before getting in. Being too tired to shower the night before you basked in the warmth of the hot water washing the days of travel off your skin.
However, your peace was short-lived because a rush of cold air cut across your skin beckoning a wave of gooseflesh. There were no vents or holes near the shower so you shut the water off and peered out of the shower curtain. The bathroom door was open and you struggled to remember if you’d closed it or not. Surely, you would’ve closed it to keep the heat in, right?
Stepping out of the shower you wrap yourself in a towel and enter the room to find nothing amiss.
Strange.
You searched the chest for the round container of lotion you’d spotted when you were rummaging through it earlier. After getting dressed, you leave your room, notepad in hand, and find your way to the kitchen.
Marguerite is there and quickly introduces herself and offers you a full breakfast. Shamefully, you find yourself very pleased with the fact that she’s an older woman. Much too old to be romantically involved with your host. Her grey hair is pulled back into one bun, pulled away from her round face which is free of wrinkles. Her eyes are almost catlike which would appear almost frightening if not for their warm disposition and the childish curve of her features. She looks incredibly young and old at the same time. You watch as she pours you both a cup of tea and puts exactly four sugars into your tea.
“How is your room?” Her voice is warm much like her eyes. Hoping she hadn’t noticed your staring, you mix your oatmeal in an innocuous figure eight. “It’s lovely. Everything is perfect and the bed is quite comfortable.”
Marguerite hums with approval. “Wonderful. I put everything to right myself. The little prince would have nothing less.” Baffled, you turn to face her.
“Little prince?”
Marguerite’s warm eyes all but twinkle in the morning light. She sips her tea once before getting to her feet. “I’ve got some small tasks to finish before the morning ends. Once you’re done eating, you may leave your dishes in the sink. I’ll tend to them.” She doesn’t wait for your answer before she leaves, cup in hand.
Curious but too excited to think about it for too long you hastily finish your breakfast. Now, you have a system. Always begin at the first room you entered when you’re exploring a new place. It’s crucial to start in a familiar place so that each new discovery is easier to document and keep track of. Following this system leads you to head to the foyer. The room looked much the same as it had when you’d first arrived except for the streams of light that were pouring in from all directions. You’d missed the windows behind the humongous curtains that covered them the night before. Some of the windows were stained glass and you took a moment to examine them.
Each picture showed a man with dark hair in battle, covered in the blood of his enemies, and returning to the gothic castle you now stood in.
“A bit grotesque, is it not?” You jump and whirl around to find Adrian standing behind you much as he had the first time you met. “Have mercy! You’ve got to stop doing that!” His eyebrows draw together as he laughs lightly. Today his hair is in a messy braid down his back. The button-down white shirt he wears is tucked into the sleek black pants that sway over his sandy brown boots. “My apologies, my dear. I didn’t mean to frighten you.” His eyes travel from your face down your body and back up again causing those butterflies to flutter up to your heart. Fingers knotted in the dress you wore, your eyes scanned the room nervously. “Thank you for the clothes and the other things. They’re beautiful.”
“I’m glad you like them. Does everything fit well?” “Scarily well,” you joke. “I would’ve thought these clothes had been made for me with how perfectly they fit.” His jaw tensed slightly. Confused once again, you opt to examine the stained glass. You hear him inhale slowly.
“I’m told there’s a book in the library that describes the stories in these windows. Would you like to help me search for it?”
The doors of the library are large. Just as large as the front doors. He pushes them open with ease and leads you into a room full of one of the largest collections of books you’ve ever seen. There are books on every surface. Lining the walls and stacked spaces all over the tables and desks. It was overwhelmingly massive and you took it all in wonder. “The place is a mess and I haven’t hired anyone to help me organize it all just yet. It’s such a large collection.”
“Can I help?” The words come out louder than you expect and you can’t see the smile on his lips as he pulls open the heavy curtains of the room. “If it’s not too much for you. I know you’ve only come here to stay a week. Are you sure you’ve got enough time for this?”
Already eyeing a ruby-red book covered in dust, you nod vigorously. “I’ve got plenty of time. I’m the youngest historian of my group and I’m pretty sure my boss let me go on this trip because he figured it would keep me busy and out of the way of their more important jobs. Jokes on them though, this place is immaculate! I could write a million books about the architecture alone.” You glance over to see him leaning against a table watching you intently. “That is..if you would consent to that.”
He sits motionless for a moment before shrugging. “I don’t see why not.” Grinning, you begin sorting through the books nearest to you. Several of them are in languages you’ve never seen and you examine them thoroughly. Organizing this library would not be easy but you were reluctant to think about giving yourself a time limit anyway. Judging by the size of this room alone, there was no way you’d be able to sort through it in a month let alone a week. The next three days, you focused on your task while pondering the idea of staying a little longer.
During this time, you and Adrian had entered a rhythm. You’d wake up in the morning, he’d meet you in the kitchen and you walk together to the library. You’d spent hours in there reading over ancient stories of witches and vampires. All of them fill you with delight.
You had become accustomed to Adrian being near you throughout this time. Relishing every moment, his skin brushed yours or he leaned over you to read whatever book you wanted to show him. It was on a late night almost identical to the others that Adrian had left without a word and reappeared with a tray with two cups and hot chocolate.
“You didn’t have to bring me anything.” You replied after many thanks. He shook his pretty head. “Nonsense. After all you’ve done to help me, I won’t hesitate to do whatever I can for you.” He set a smoking cup in front of you before sliding into the chair closest to yours and sipping from his own cup. You watched him as he took a drink and you absentmindedly did the same. The scalding hot liquid bit at the skin of your bottom lip and tongue. You yelped.
“Shit!” Adrian grasped your chin in one hand and sat your hot mug to the side.
“It’s smoking hot, Y/N. You can’t just inhale it that way.” He all but whispered as his callused thumb gently rubbed your bottom lip.
“You did.” You mumble. His frown deepened and you watched his face as you impulsively let your tongue slide over the tip of his thumb. His breath caught in his throat. Less than a second later, he slid his thumb into your mouth and you wrapped your lips around it without a second thought. His pupils dilated as he tilted his head, lips parted. You tasted the cocoa on his skin and sighed breathily.
Quickly, he moved his hand from your chin and pressed his lips to yours. Tilting your head, you leaned into him as he pulled you to his chest and slid his hands down your throat and shoulders. Past your arms and around your waist. Your arms find their way around his neck as you let him slide his tongue between your lips. The sound of your heartbeat and the noises you couldn’t help but make filled your ears.
Just when you think you might have to lean back for air he breaks the kiss and presses his lips all over your face. Without a word, he lifts you by your waist and you wrap your legs around him quickly. He kisses you again, rougher this time. You don’t know how and nor do you care but soon your back is against the soft cushion of your bed and Adrian is leaving a trail of kisses down your neck and over your collarbones.
After a moment, he rises and looks into your eyes. You can tell he’s searching for something but is unsure how to ask. The apprehension and obvious vulnerability tug on your heart and you place your hands on either side of his face. You nod, not waiting for him to ask. “Please.” You whisper. He closes his eyes and kisses you again before leaning back on his knees and pulling his shirt above his head from the hem up. You gasp when you see the long scar across his chest. It’s faded greatly, but the outline is still there and you sit up a little to drag your fingers across it. “What happened?”
He looks to the right. “It was a long time ago.” He said nothing else and you didn’t press him. Gingerly, you pressed your lips to his chest and he shuttered against your lips. Like he’d never been touched there before. In a rush, he slid his hand through your hair held the back of your skull, and kissed you deeply. It was easier for him to undress and explore you without fear now. Eyes on yours, he pulled your panties from around your hips and slid them off. You giggled as he slid his cool fingertips between your knees and slowly spread them.
You held your breath as his eyes roamed over your body. “So pretty.” He breathed and you whimpered as his hands slid down your thighs and over your pelvic bone. He kissed the bare skin of your shoulder, your knuckles, your thigh, your ankle. He inhaled your scent and you sighed with each touch. His fingertips found their way to the apex of your thighs and slid between your glistening lips. A shuttered moan falls from your lips and he chuckles. He kisses your temple while rubbing slow circles around your clit.
Your eyes are squeezed shut as you teeter closer and closer to your orgasm. Without warning, he speeds up the movement, sucking the skin of your neck between his teeth sending shivers down your spine as your hips move against his hand of their own accord. In a burst of feeling you tip over the edge. A sharp shriek escapes your lips and it feels like forever before the shocks of pleasure end. As soon as it stops, you huff impatiently. It certainly wasn’t enough to make the heat of your skin cool down and the way he continued to caress your skin was only making it worse.
He slid between your thighs and lined himself up with your entrance. “Are you ready?” He whispered in your ears. “Yes.” You reply quickly and he laughs at your eagerness. Then he gently presses the head of his cock into you. Both of you moan in unison. The air in the room thickens as he graciously waits for you to adjust to the intrusion. Slowly he edges himself all the way inside of you to the hilt and you fight to breathe. You had guessed he could fill you up but you hadn’t imagined it would feel like this. Your legs were still vibrating with the aftershocks of your first orgasm and you kiss his shoulder before telling him you’re ready for him to move. And that he does.
Forehead to yours, he pulls his hips away from yours, leaving just the tip inside you before surging forward. The wind is knocked out of you and you squeeze your eyes shut as sounds you’ve never made before push out of your belly and mingle with his own. You lose yourself in the pressure and the rhythm as his hands bring your wrists together above your head. He holds them there with one hand and uses the other to pull your right thigh up higher on his hips. This allows him to reach deeper inside you and your back arches.
Breath uneven, you raise your hips to meet his thrusts as your second orgasm oh so slowly gets closer and closer. Unable to see and barely able to hear, you beg him. “P-please. Please. Please.” You chant like a sinner praying for salvation. He presses his lips to your ear.
“Please what?”
You whimper.
“Use your words.” He laughs against your skin as he leaves little bite indents on your forearms. The sound of your wetness echoes throughout the room, egging you on in the most obscene manner. All but screaming, you beg him to let you come. He murmurs “Good girl” in your ear and releases your wrists. He brings both of your knees up even higher and your hands grip his biceps as he plows into you. Almost instantly, your body tightens. Your eyes roll as your orgasm finally hits you, causing every part of your body to shake. This time you scream as he presses his hips into yours a few more times before stilling inside you. You watch as he closes his eyes and your name falls from his lips as he comes inside of you.
Adrian lets your legs slip from his grip and lays down on you. The room is quiet save from the sound of your breathing. You can feel his heart beating against yours and you wrap your arms around him. Hand in his hair, you press your lips to his temple much like he’d done yours and he sighs into you. A smile dances across your lips as you hold him to you.
“You’re so perfect.” He whispers. “I was going to say the same thing about you.” You reply. He exhales heavily and places a kiss on the inside of your elbow before getting up and entering your bathroom. You hear the faucet water turn on as he hums a song you’ve never heard before. He returns a moment later with a warm cloth and wipes your skin so gently that you feel your heart swell inside your chest. He continues to hum and the sound of his voice lulls you into a dreamless sleep.

Your Love's Been a Long Time Coming: The End
A/N: My heart, y'all. I can't believe this is over. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this last chapter for Elvis and Vivian. If there's enough demand, I'll write more of them happily ever after, but otherwise, here it is: the end. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments. I love to hear from you!
Need to read the rest? Masterlist here.
Warnings: 18+ minors DNI! Kissing, cussing, fingering, oral sex (m&f receiving), p in v penetrative sex, unprotected sex, creampie

"Are you?!"
"Yes."
******
Sonny's shoulders slump as he sinks into a chair. Vivian's heart breaks for him, but she just couldn't lie to him anymore. It's not fair to anyone involved for her to keep pretending like there's nothing between her and Elvis.
"I knew it. Jerry told me about the wedding and I just kept hoping it was him being, well, him. But no, this has been going on for a lot longer than just that time, hasn't it?"
"No, we've never really been anything-"
"But that's what you've wanted. You love him and you always have." He pinches the bridge of his nose and Vivian swallows deeply. He's right. "I can't fight him. I won't win. Not if you're in love with him."
Sonny looks up at her with his eyes glossy and wet. He takes her hand and kisses the back of it.
"Sonny, I-"
"No. It's okay, sugar. I love you too much to keep you miserable. If you want him, you should be with him." She sits on the floor in front of him and leans on his knee.
"I'm not miserable."
"No, but you would be eventually. Especially if his marriage is over. It's cruel for me to make you stay, knowing what I know now."
"Sonny... I'm so sorry."
"Don't be. You can't help who you love. Can I ask one thing, though?"
"Anything." Vivian looks up at him sadly. Some part of her does care for him. Just not enough. Not more than she loves Elvis.
"I'm gonna go for a drive for a few hours. When I get back here, please be gone." She nods slowly.
"Okay. I can do that."
"Thank you." He whispers and then leans forward, kissing her forehead. Then, he stands up and walks towards the door. When he gets there he turns. "I don't want you to feel bad for me. I'll be alright. Just go be happy."
She nods again as he walks through the door. The tears come hot and fast for a while as she sits there in the rubble of her ruined marriage. After a while, she stops, though, and there's only one thing on her mind.
Elvis.
She jumps up and starts to pack.
******
Elvis is sitting in the dark in the TV room. All three TVs are going, but he has no idea what's on any of them. His mind is racing. How did he get here? He's alone, his own wife gone to another man as his heart longs for a married woman. What a mess.
His mind drifts back to the night he met Vivian. She was so beautiful reading the book of French poetry in the corner at his party. He should've whisked her away from Charlie that night. He should've broken up with Anita the second he met her and taken her in his arms to be his forever that afternoon when he found her crying at the cafe.
And all the movie years. How stupid was he to value his string of flings over her? How easy it would've been to leave them all in the dust and marry her in 1962.
And the conversation they started should've finished with them together. Why did he abandon her for Ann? Yes, he loved Ann, but what was she compared to his future with Viv?
And WHY, WHY did he choose Priscilla?! He looks at the corner of the couch where Viv had laid that night they made love for the first time. It's like a movie with the scene of her on his porch, arms full of liquor bottles, a soft smile on her lips. Then it cuts to her gently shaving his face, an ultimate gesture of love and service. And the kiss, his mouth on her body, carrying her upstairs and pulling off clothing. The flashbacks wash over him and he lets himself weep. His tongue pushing into her as she moans, her mouth wrapped around him, him pumping into her overcome with passion and love and a need to be hers forever. The gentle and affectionate touches when they finished and held each other like they'd do it every day until they died.
"Oh God, Vivian." He holds his head in his hands as the tears stream down his face. He should've married her. His heart aches thinking of her coming to see him when he was so hurt and needed her so badly, only to be turned away. How could he have spent all those years angry? How could he let her fall into Sonny's arms?
And now she's gone forever. She'll have a baby soon and then he will have truly lost her. He'll only ever-
There's a knock at the door. Whoever it is can wait. Elvis is too lost in his grief to answer the door right now.
He wraps his arms around himself and lets his shoulders shake with sobs.
Another knock, this time a little more urgent. He listens carefully and realizes it's raining. Briefly, he feels for the person who is soaking wet on his porch, but not enough to get up and answer the door.
He's always taking care of everyone else. In this moment, he needs to just be and feel and nurse his broken heart.
More knocking, almost frantic.
Fine. He gets up off the couch and goes to the door.
******
Vivian sits on the front steps in the rain, crying. She's knocked and knocked, but either he's not here or he doesn't want to see her. She has nowhere else to go and even if she did, this is the only place she wants to be. Why won't he answer?
She gets up to walk back to her car.
******
"Viv?" He says it softly, not believing what he sees in front of him. Then, he realizes she's walking away and runs out to her in the driveway. "Vivian!"
She stops dead and turns to face him.
"What are you doing here?"
"Sonny left."
"He did? Why?"
"Because I'm in love with you." His heart skips.
"You... what?"
"I'm in love with you, Elvis. I always have been. I love you with every fiber of my being. It's like you're a part of me that I can't dig out. You're in me. You are me. I love you. God, I love you." She stands there, chest heaving, trying not to be a cliched crying mess in the rain. Elvis's heart has stopped with her words. His hands shake and he wants to pinch himself to make sure he isn't dreaming.
"Am I- am I too late?" She asks, almost panicked. Finally, he finds his voice.
"Never."
He takes two steps and has her in his arms, his mouth pressed to hers in a desperate kiss. The years of yearning pour out of them into the way their tongues mix in an ardent dance of need. He grabs the back of her thighs and she jumps to wrap her legs around him. Then, he turns and carries her up the steps into the house, slamming the door behind them with his foot.
She moans into his kiss as they make their way up the staircase to the bedroom, her still wrapped around him. In the room, he sets her down gently and begins peeling off her wet clothes, one layer at a time, dropping his lips to every new exposed inch of skin. He makes a trail of hot kisses along her body, finally dragging down her pants and underwear until she's fully naked in front of him. But when he goes to dive face first into her center, she stops him.
"No. I want to feel your skin." She unbuttons his shirt and pushes it off of his shoulders, going to the buttons on his pants next. He kicks off his shoes while she undoes the zipper and pulls, exposing him to her fully. They stand for a second, just taking each other in with nothing in between them, finally.
He caresses the side of her face and steps closer to her so that their bodies touch softly. She looks up at him in anticipation as he runs his thumb over her cheek.
"I have loved you from the moment I saw you. I should've said it then and every day since. It's always been you, Viv." He leans in and kisses her gently again, his hand moving down her body tenderly. When he gets to her lower back, he pulls her in close to press against him and kisses down her neck. She whimpers at the feel of his length pushing into her hip, reaching down to stroke him with her hand. He grunts at the sensation and slowly walks her backwards to the edge of the bed. She sits down, her hand still pumping him, but he stops her and gets on his knees.
"You're the love of my life, Vivian. I want to give you the world." He leans forward and kisses her thigh, pushing her legs open further to get to her center. "Let me give you everything I have, baby."
With that, he lowers his mouth to her and presses his tongue into her slit, dragging it up to the hardened bud, licking over and around it vigorously. She inhales sharply and throws her head back.
"Oh, God, Elvis." She runs her hand in his hair. He groans, but doesn't stop working his mouth on her. He moves his tongue in circles and then in a hard line over the top of her clit, keeping a steady rhythm. Her hips buck forward into his face and he slides a finger into her, tickling the spot that makes her moan out loud.
"Fuck!" Her back arches as her orgasm builds quickly. She feels herself on the edge, ready to spill over into an ocean of pleasure.
"Come on, baby. You're right there. Let go for me." He goes back to licking her with a fervor he's never expressed before. He's never been so invested in a woman's pleasure but he wants to give Vivian more than she's ever experienced. And he does. In that moment the dam breaks and she cries out as the waves of ecstasy crest and break inside her over and over again.
"Yes! Fuck! Yessssss!" She moans with her teeth gritted, her body quaking with the aftershock of the most unbelievable orgasm.
When she finally comes down, she sits up and grabs him, pulling him into a deep kiss, her tongue diving into his mouth feverishly.
"I'm so... in love... with you..." She whispers in between kisses, her hands running down his chest. She stands him up and he looks down at her, cupping her chin in his hand.
"No, baby. I'm in love with you." She smiles and leans forward, holding his cock in one hand, pulling his foreskin back and running her tongue around the tip. He leans back, his lips parted slightly and his eyes closed. "God, that feels good."
She tries not to smile as she pulls him fully into her mouth, letting him hit the back of her throat. She buries her nose in the hair at the base of him, swallowing around him. Then, she begins to move up and down as he thrusts slowly. She puts her hands on his hips and works him gently, moaning. He grunts and takes a handful of her hair.
"Viv, baby, you have to stop. I'm not finished making love to you."
She pulls back off of him and looks up, crawling backwards onto the bed. He climbs on top of her, kissing her neck and chest up to her mouth.
"I am yours, Vivian. Body and soul." He lines his cock up with her dripping entrance and teases her clit for a second. "I want to love you like this forever."
"Please, Elvis. Never stop." He nods and pushes into her.
"I won't, baby." He whispers as he slides in as deep as he'll go, grunting when he feels her tightness around him. "You were made for me."
She whimpers as he fills her, pulling back and pushing into her again. Neither of them will ever get enough of the way it feels to be connected like this. They fit together like a lock and key and the pleasure hits them both at the same time.
"Yes, Elvis..." Her back arches as he continues his sensual rhythm of sliding out and filling her, his hips rolling into her over and over and over. Their sweat begins to mix as their bodies meet in burning kisses, breast to chest, stomach to stomach, hip to hip, and thigh to thigh. His hand runs up and down her, squeezing and pinching softly where it pleases them both until it settles on her hip, holding her in place as his thrusting picks up. He's still moving slowly, pounding her deeply, slamming her with his cock both passionately and lovingly.
"Oh, God, Viv, I love the way you feel." He sets his head on her shoulder, knowing his climax is coming fast. "I don't want this to be over."
She takes his face in her hands and kisses the tip of his nose.
"This will never be over. I'm yours until the end. Let go, baby. I'm not going anywhere." He whimpers softly and peppers her face with kisses as he goes back to pumping into her. His pace increases and her breasts bounce as he moves inside her harder and harder. He feels his orgasm building in his cock and he knows he's ready to explode. He slams into her two more times and then cries out as he shudders.
"Fuck, yes, Viv!" He feels his release wash over him as he cums hard inside her, emptying himself as the tsunami-force ecstasy crashes through him. He's frozen inside her, cock throbbing until he's completely spent. She whines through her own orgasm as he collapses on top of her, careful not to crush her with his weight. He slides out of her gently and lays next to her, pulling her into the crook of his arm where she fits perfectly. She reaches up and pushes his sweaty hair back off of his forehead and then runs her fingertips down the side of his face. He grabs her fingers and kisses them, looking down at her. She smiles up at him and whispers. "Je t'aimes toujours avec tout mon coeur."
"You know I don't speak French, baby." He chuckles.
"It means 'I love you always with all of my heart.' It's something I was saving to say to the man that set me on fire. And it's you. I burn for you, Elvis. I always have and I always will." He smiles, his eyes brimming with tears.
"I will make you mine forever as soon as I can. You are the one who my soul loves. Viv, tell me this is us, from now on."
"Always and forever, Elvis."
"Always and forever."
******
A lot happens for Elvis and Vivian through 1972 and 1973. Vivian moves into Graceland and they christen every room in the house. Then, Elvis films Elvis on Tour in April and Vivian is there. He plays at Madison Square Garden in June and Vivian is there. He goes on tour again and still, Viv is there. Then, he does the Aloha show in Hawaii and she is there for that too. Both of their divorces are finalized in 1973 and they're there for each other. By Thanksgiving, Elvis has a 10-carat ring on her finger and by Christmas they're married.
He records an album at Stax that won't be released until 1975, but there's a song on it that makes him think of Vivian so much he almost cries. He saves it for the right moment, though.
So when she comes to him on New Year's Eve with a note from the doctor confirming her pregnancy, he knows exactly what to do. He pulls her into a warm embrace, kissing the top of her head. Slowly they begin to sway and he sings:
The first time I saw you I knew I was hooked on somebody other than me
And the first time I held you, your soft lips and blue eyes
Were as far as my eyes could see
Yes, here in my arms I knew I had found the reason that I'm livin' for
And I felt the feeling, such a wonderful feeling
That I'd never felt before
Baby, you're love's been a long time comin'
Baby your love's got a hold on me
Baby your love's sure got me hummin'
Baby your love's been a long time comin'

soft!sebastian headcannons - part 3
Author's Note: as promised, soft!seb headcannons. i'm honestly having a great time writing these, so i'll keep em coming as long as people are interested in reading them :) might make the Christmas hc into a mini-fic at some point, we'll see hehehe
you’ve both agreed not to speak to each other after a fight until you’ve both calmed down. if he can’t talk to you he’ll huff and perform little acts of service. he notices you’re running out of ink, and the next day at your first class you sit at your usual seat to find a fresh pot of jet-black ink
will whine if he thinks you’re not giving him enough attention (usually while studying). acts like a cat (slowly nudging your textbook closer to the edge of the table until you’re forced to snatch it from him, comes up behind you and resting his chin on your head while you’re reading)
HEAVY sleeper. between his packed class schedule and quidditch practice, boy is exhausted. someone could cast confringo next to his pillow and the most he’d do is roll to the other side of the bed. Ominis once levitated an entire stack of books and dropped them on the floor next to his nightstand to test this. he didn’t even stir
if you share a bed he 100% tries to pull you back in every time you try to get up. will roll on top of you and refuse to move. he’s also not above feigning sleep if it means you’re more likely to stay in bed with him
fidgets a lot. twirls his wand during lectures, definitely plays with your hair if you’re sitting next to him. either paces while reading or switches spots every few minutes. every time you enter the common room he’s curled up on a different couch or settee
his socks are always mismatched. he reasons that nobody will notice so he doesn’t see the point in properly pairing them. the only time you’ve seen him in matching socks was on your first date. he nicked a pair from Ominis’ drawer but of course his friend noticed. the Gaunt boy hid a non-venomous snake in his sock drawer and used parseltongue to command it to scare the daylights out of Sebastian. he still refuses to pair his socks, but has vowed to steer clear of Ominis’ dresser
used to dread Christmas because it hurts to remember the happiest times before the death of his parents. you, Ominis, and Anne decide to help him make new holiday memories to cherish. you all decide to stay at the castle for the holidays. you spend most of the day outside, playing in the snow. to your surprise, Ominis is the one to throw the first snowball. after it hits Sebastian square in the back of the head feigns innocence and blames Anne. Anne levitates a pile of snow to fall directly on top of him in retaliation and so commences a vicious snowball fight
at one point he intercepts a snowball that was meant for you. he pretends like he’s been mortally wounded, falling to the ground for dramatic effect
(boy is shameless and will do anything to have you fuss over him)
says he has a surprise for you and leads you to a pile of pumpkin-sized snowballs. he flicks his wand in their direction and they animate themselves into puffskeins, jumping around you and puffing out into clouds of snow as soon as they make contact with you
(it took him a week to learn the spell, but it’s worth it to hear you giggle under a mountain of snow-puffskeins)
on Christmas eve he holds you in his arms as you fall asleep in front of the crackling common room fireplace. doesn’t want to disturb your sleep, so he levitates a blanket over the both of you and tucks in for the night

In my heart Yosuke and Chie are both bi but still would be horrified at the idea of getting together. Like no dude, that's the guy I immediately latched onto as a brother/sister figure to bully (affectionate). It's like Ryuji and Ann if Ann wasn't a lesbian. Yosuke and Chie could at most date and kiss ONCE and immediately go "ewww no gross" and make a mutual pact to never speak of it again.
oh yeah absolutely. They kiss once and it's the worst experience they've ever had. Drinking vinegar and chewing on sand levels of urrgh. Besides? They arent even each other's types? Like... Saki and Yu were established as their "types" canonically so there's that.
tho Ann/Ryuji feels like they could easily date for like, a month or two before they realize that they aren't clicking and then break up amicably about it. Any clicking between Yosk and Chie is the sound of a lighter during a gas leak.
In general i'm sick of the "oh they bicker like a married couple they're meant for each other" as if being in a constant state of friction and antagonism is "goals" for a relationship- and unfortunately, I feel like they're slightly angled in that direction. They have plenty of moments where that eases up and there's soft or empathetic sentiments, but to interpret that empathy or sympathy as "actually they're in love" is a huge disservice to their dynamic and to them as characters and.. ugh!!
(But, to be fair- for every shuffle they take in a possible Chie/Yosk direction, they immediately turn around and start sprinting in a Souyo and Yukichie direction. )
Angling them as sibling coded, tho- Is sort of oversimplifying it? I think their relationship is more layered than to simply use that label (siblings) on them. The implication for that uh.. I think... "I want to see them have trust and affection that transcends bickering (because that bickering comes knowing that trust cannot be implicitly broken) and without risk of it being interpreted as romantic" Folk can and- often do have relationships that transcend that of average friendships, and operate without risk of it becoming anything other than platonic.
Chie and Yosuke are openly disrespectful of each other, yet probably trust each other more than most the other (non souyo, non yukichie, non-yu) IT dynamics do. They know each other well enough to know what buttons to push... but also know how and when to push those buttons in order to challenge each other in ways that make them grow (or at least divert whatever energy is causing the other to spiral)
They're really good friends, best friends, even!! They'll show up the second the other's in distress with a six-pack and convenience store bentos in order to sit and call each other stupid for an hour because it works better and is cheaper then therepy.
but idk, thats how I read it.
#Anonymous#Whatever they have is interesting#and even good because it adds to the flavor to the IT.#they're supposed to be an echo of Junpei and Yukari and they pull it off better because it comes from *mutual antagonism* and no true hatre

I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang
Unforgettable, snarky, and romantic, I Hope This Doesn't Find You is Never Have I Ever meets To All the Boys I've Loved Before if Lara Jean wrote hate emails instead of love letters.
Sadie Wen is perfect on paper: school captain, valedictorian, and a "pleasure to have in class." It's not easy, but she has a trick to keep her model-student smile plastered on her face at all times: she channels all her frustrations into her email drafts. She'd never send them of course -- she'd rather die than hurt anyone's feelings -- but it's a relief to let loose on her power-hungry English teacher or a freeloading classmate taking credit for Sadie's work.
All her most vehemently worded emails are directed at her infuriating cocaptain, Julius Gong, whose arrogance and competitive streak have irked Sadie since they were kids. "You're attention starved and self-obsessed and unbearably vain . . . I really hope your comb breaks and you run out of whatever expensive hair products you've been using to make your hair appear deceptively soft . . ."
Sadie doesn't have to hold back in her emails, because nobody will ever read them . . . that is, until they're accidentally sent out.
Overnight, Sadie's carefully crafted, conflict-free life is turned upside down. It's her worst nightmare -- now everyone at school knows what she really thinks of them, and they're not afraid to tell her what they really think of her either. But amidst the chaos, there's one person growing to appreciate the "real" Sadie -- Julius, the only boy she's sworn to hate . . .

London On My Mind by Clara Alves
Red, White & Royal Blue meets A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow in this unlikely London romance by debut author Clara Alves!
Sixteen-year-old Dayana has always dreamed of visiting London -- to walk along the Thames, take pictures outside Buckingham Palace, and maybe even get a glimpse of Arthur, Prince of Wales, whose marriage has been all over tabloids. But the trip of her dreams turns into a royal nightmare when her mother passes away. Now, Day must leave Rio de Janeiro to live with her estranged father and his new family in London.
As it turns out, the U.K. isn't exactly Day's cup of tea. All she wants to do is trade the rainy skies of London for the sun and beaches of Rio.
That's when she runs into the girl of her dreams -- literally: The coincidentally named Diana, a witty, funny, redhead who was in the middle of . . . escaping Buckingham Palace? Something isn't right here, but it makes Diana all the more alluring. As time passes, and the two girls grow closer, Day can't help but wonder if there is more than a little truth to the rumors surrounding Prince Arthur -- and if Diana might be involved somehow. i've been meaning to tell you // lance stroll
summary: y/n has something to share with her husband post bahrain 2023 that might make the whole weekend just a little bit sweeter.
warnings: mentions of pregnancy, fertility issues. can be read as a sequel to 'baby steps'
shes waiting for him in the garage post-race
baby ayla isnt so baby any more, the toddler sitting on her mother's shoulders as lance comes into the garage
hes rubbing his sore wrists; there are still pins holding the bones in his arm together
the official story was that he was injured in a biking accident
what the media didn't know was that he was just going down their cozy residential street in montreal with the dog, his wife and his daughter
lance was the only one to hit the pothole
hence two broken wrists and a broken toe
"daddy!" ayla shouts from her mother's shoulders as y/n stroll laughs, gingerly helping her daughter put both feet back on the garage floor
ayla launches herself at her father, and lance is trying not to wince as the toddler steps on his previously broken toe
"hey, princess." he coos, hefting ayla into his arms despite the pain shooting through his arms. "did you see how fast my car was?"
"i saw you hit uncle fernando at the beginning."
"babe, your wrists." y/n warns softly, kissing her husband on the cheek. "i'm proud of you, lance.
"where is my son and my granddaughter!" claire-ann stroll choruses, jaunting through the garage to take ayla out of lance's arms before congratulating her son with a kiss on both cheeks
y/n laughed as lance's cheeks went red before she gently took his hand in hers
"come on, let's go ice this wrist of yours."
they go out to the back patio of the hospitality suite
fireworks are still going off, post race celebrations ensuing as the happy couple sit down at one of the cast iron tables
their own quiet corner of the universe as y/n wraps both of her husband's wrists in an ice pack
"you really do need to be more careful, honey. you could have made everything worse out there. i was worried, though you wouldn't have guessed it from the way i was cheering in there."
"i know, baby. i know." lance said softly, leaning over to press a kiss to the side of his wife's head. "and i know things have been really difficult lately, but i feel like something finally went right for once."
y/n smiled. "you'll get your podium, sweetheart. i know you will."
things had been far from easy in the stroll household for the past few months
they had been trying desperately for a second child, but each attempt had been met with a disappointing ending
it hadn't been easy on either of them
all lance wanted was for his wife to be happy
all that y/n wanted was a family.
"i think that things are going to start looking up for us sooner than you think."
she has a really soft smile on her face as she reached into her purse for the folded up photograph
and lance hates himself for getting his hopes up, just in case it fails again, just in case of the worst case scenario
she'd barely containing her tears as she places the ultrasound photo on the table in front of him.
"i didn't want to tell you until i was absolutely sure."
neither of them can stop their smiles
lance is pretty sure that a tear or two fell when he wasn't looking.
"we're going to have another baby, lance."
"that's why my mom is here, isn't it? to keep an eye on you when i couldn't." lance is laughing as she casts the ice packs aside
pulling his wife in for a hug, wrists be damned.
"i'm so happy right now, i can't even explain it."
"i love you, lance." y/n giggles, kissing lance softly. "you make me so happy, baby."
lance kisses her again, the smile still etched on his face.
"i love you more, y/n."
he looks towards the hospitality doors.
"do you think my mom would be up to babysit tonight? i feel like we haven't had enough time to ourselves lately. i want to take you out to celebrate."
"as long as you're buying me dessert."
lance can't remember being this happy since he held his daughter for this first time.
"deal."

Proud lover
Levi x fem!reader
Canon world, fluff, romance, being a couple, lawyer reader, supportive Levi.
Levi goes to the courthouse to pick you up for lunch. Your case runs over a little bit so Levi sits in and watches you for a bit. Afterwards, he tells you how proud he is and takes you on a little date.
@ladycheesington @levisbrat25 @nyxiieluna @li-anne @galactict3a @youre-ackermine @thebobaprincess @2moth-anon2 @cypidity @nbinairyn @bts-spnlvr12 @darkstarlight82 @emilyyyy-08 @notgoodforlife @demonic-bird
Levi packed up a side bag and made his way out of the scout base and into town. He checked the time on his pocket watch that you bought and engraved for him. A soft smile spread over his lips as he felt excitement bubble inside him because he was on his way to see you.
He jogged a little to the courthouse as the desire to see you consumed him. As far as he was aware, you were in court today and you were going to finish any minute, so he needed to get to you. However, when he arrived at the courthouse he saw no one outside, meaning you were still inside.
He slipped in and saw an attendant outside. "Hey, they still in there?"
He smiled at Levi. "Captain Levi, hello. Yes, your Mrs is in the courtroom right now. I believe this is a tricky one she's dealing with. You can go in and take a seat though."
"Thank you." He hurried past and opened the door as quietly as possible before stepping in. He moved to a seat in the back and watched you.
The way you talked was mesmerising as always. You held yourself so highly and smiled so sweetly. The way you spoke was firm but soft. People tended to admire you. You often had people slightly frustrated with you, but it was in a good way. You would be so convincing and good at your job that they were frustrated that you'd win, but impressed by how you worked.
Court ended and the room was buzzing with excitement. As soon as it was over and the judge was gone, your body seemed to deflate a little. Levi could clearly see that you were exhausted and needed a break Levi made sure to stand up so you could see him. He loved it when you noticed him and brightened up.
You quickly spoke to your team before hurrying over to your man. "Hello."
Levi reached over and gently squeezed your upper arm. "Hello, love. You did incredible. You were amazing to watch."
Your cheeks burned a little. "Thank you. I tried my best and it worked out."
"I'm proud of you."
You shuffled closer and whined a moment. Hearing Levi say those words meant everything to you. "Thank you."
He smiled a little. "I've come to take you on a date."
"Really? That'll be lovely."
He patted his bag. "I packed some food, drink and a blanket. We can go sit in a park or something."
You hummed as you walked with Levi. "How about we sit in my garden? We get some privacy then and I'll be able to kiss you a lot."
Levi blushed hard. "Tch, yes. You get lots of kisses in private."
"Wonderful! Plus, I want to change into comfy clothes. Wearing these smart things is aching my body."
"I can imagine." He took your hand and held it tightly. "You're mesmerising."
You smiled a little at Levi. "Thank you. You're so sweet to me." You lifted his hand and kissed the back of it. "Cutie."
He moved through town with you until you reached the edge where it was quiet. Levi adored your home because it was far away from Titan troubled walls, it was peaceful and had wonderful views. He was hoping it would be the forever home you would share as a couple.
As soon as you let him into your home, he took in a deep breath and felt himself wrapped up in your divine scent. He purred in delight and felt his body relax. He moved around your home and changed into the comfy clothes you had there for him while you changed as well.
Levi moved to your back door and stood in your garden. He admired the views of the mountains, forest and lake. No matter how many times he came here, he always found himself lost in the views that were your home. After taking everything in, he laid the blanket down and made sure to put up a parasol to protect you from the sun.
You moved outside with a tray of tea in your hands. "Oh, you set up such a wonderful spot!"
Levi smiled at you. "I want you to be comfy."
You noticed Levi didn't sit because he was waiting for you to sit first. You smiled and took a seat. "Can we cuddle?"
Levi sat down quickly before opening his arms to you. "I want to hold you."
You slid over and lay in his arms. "Are you sure you don't want me to hold you?"
He squeezed you tightly. "Maybe later, but I want to hold you to remind myself that you are all mine."
You wiggled a little in his arms before settling down. "Mm."
He called your name so sweetly. "I love you."
You gazed at Levi. "I love you too."
He leaned over and kissed you as the light summer breeze drifted by. "Mine."
You giggled softly. "And you're mine."
"Do you have anymore court cases?"
You hummed. "Not for a while. So, do you want to spend time together just holding each other and maybe a few dates?" You nibbled your lip. "Maybe fully move in?"
He brightened up. "I would love to move in!"

THE BOOK CLUB. — A SOOBIN FIC
sypnosis. meeting your significant other at your neighborhood book club was not on your 2023 bingo but hey... your definitely not complaining!
pairing + genre + wc. non!idolsoobin × fem!reader. fluff!!! 2.8k words.
choose character – yn.
there was a reason that everyone in your neighborhood called you matilda. a book was always found in your nose, and even if everyone was reluctant, they didn't seem to mind so much about you joining the book club now. knowing how knowledgeable you were for your age, your parents did whatever they could to increase it at least 1 iq a day (at least they hoped that's what this was all doing). at first, you didn't mind the packed weekday afternoon classes after school and weekend full sessions for instruments and tutoring, but as you grew, you started resenting your family and yourself. you hated how curious you had been, wishing you just acted like a snobby child, wanting to continue watching your ipad and stuff your face with chips and apple juice. you hated your family for torturing you, leaving you with no time for yourself, to discover hobbies and join clubs like stuco on your own. the only thing you were encouraged to do that you genuinely enjoyed was reading. writing annotations, highlighting whatever you wanted to follow the little footnotes you made was so fun and calming. too bad everyone thought it was strange of you to invest so much in something they considered stupid. now, at the age of 19, you were set to attend snu with absolutely no social life (unless the neighborhood kids who didn't talk to you unless necessary counted) or love life. just great.
then the new kid moved in. he looked like a natural blonde with his soft, fluffy hair and perfect lips, every teenage girls dream. you could tell by the way all the girls swooned over him at the book club meeting, you almost went insane. you wouldn't lie and say he wasn't attractive because he most definitely was. the only thing keeping you from budging was your envy. he was quickly taken in by a few of the guys here despite being introverted just like you.. was it all because of his looks? you wished that you could be like him.. maybe then you'd have someone to talk to besides keeping a book under your nose since the annotations you made were the only way you'd be heard by at least something. choi soobin. that was his name. oh, how you wished you were choi soobin.
choose character – soobin.
sighing, soobin gave up arguing with his mother and clicked submit on the application to join the neighborhood book club from his phone. anything to stop hearing the nagging coming from her mouth talking about, "all you do is read those picture books and animations on tv! you're an adult now, grow up!" and the "how do you expect to do well wheb you refuse to even open a book!" and lastly, the "you can meet even more people there, get out of your shell! oh my gosh, choi soobin, just sign up for that damn book club!" closing the door shut, he groaned as he knew that if he backed out now, the nagging would get worse. he was considered "too deep in" at this point. hopefully, this book club would be lenient on him. he heard that there were good snacks made by mrs. song who owned sugar rush bakery in the city.. maybe he'd just show up for that. unlocking his phone grumbling, he tapped (roughly) a message, BEGGING his new friends if any of them were in the club and if not join. thank the lords, at least taehyun was in it. maybe things would be bareable.
it was not bareable. taehyun spent most of his time discussing the book of the week, anne of green gables (why were they so into that middle school book...), with some girl. what was her name again? matilda? maybe she was a foreigner, who knows! he wouldn't lie and say she wasn't cute, though. maybe he'd grow the balls to approach her one day.
he did not need to grow balls. taehyun was either a blessing or the devil in the disguise. yelling out, "SOOBIN WHY ARE YOU PLAYING CHUBBY BUNNY WITH THE COOKIES?!" across the room was anything but necessary. at least it got her attention, but soobin had no idea if he even wanted it anymore. hell, he'd rather have embarrassed himself on his own will. his ears turned red along with his chips as he left the table full of treats to approach taehyun, who just snickered at his friend who very obviously looked like he wanted to sink into the pits of hell. at least it made her let out a little chuckle with that small little smile. not big and cheeky yet genuine and arguably reached her eyes in a way. hopefully, soobin could replace that stuffed faced impression of him in her head because he DEFINITELY did not want to miss out now. she looked so cute he felt completely purified just looking at her. "oh soobin, this is yn. yn, i'm sure you've already heard of this beanstalk." yn? why did everyone call her matilda then? the shocked and slightly embarrassed look on her face was enough soobin from shutting up. a meek. "did i say that out loud..." came out his mouth as he winced seeing the embarrassed look on her and taehyun's face. the apologies came spewing out his mouth as he repeatedly bowed, eyes closed. poor boy looked like he was going to bawl his eyes out while she simply did her best to keep him from bowing again, constantly reassuring him. it got to the point she couldn't help but find this humorous and soobin was doing it only to hear her laughter. the rest of the meeting contained soobin doing his best to make her laugh throughout the conversation that flowed smoothly between the two. before they knew it, the meeting had ended and everyone left the living room of ms. jin's house while she graciously wished them well, multitasking by cleaning at the same time.
walking her home, soobin got to learn a lot about yn. her favorite color was blue because it was what the sky of a peaceful good day looked like. her favorite singer was lauvey since she was a hopeless romantic and it put her at peace while reading. her favorite book was little women, she couldn't count the amount of times she reread the book. she preferred movies over shows, she wanted to try volleyball, the list went on. every detail he learned about her, soobin planned on digging up that unused journal his father got him for his 11th birthday so he wouldn't forget a thing. the walk itself was peaceful, just two happy souls skipping on the sidewalk as they learned more about each other, completely infatuated. when she finally got to her door, the bittersweet feeling lingering in the air quickly disappeared as the two exchanged numbers, texting each other as soon as the front door had shut. soobin couldn't helo but giggle, smiling wide at each message he recieved. he lied. the book club was definitely bareable. maybe it wasn't going to be so bad.
choose character – yn.
days had gone by, but never a single one had passed without a "good morning pretty!" and "good night have sweet dreams!" message or a "have u eaten yet? remember to drink water too!" from soobin. the checkups melted your heart and from what you knew from the books you read, you confirmed you were absolutely head over heels for the giant blonde boy who just seemed to occupy every part of your brain. for once you had someone to talk to and it was a complete dream come true. when you both ended up getting drained of their social battery, you simply would notify the other who completely understood, allowing for silence to fill the air before your phone would start dinging with message notifications. it was a system that just didn't seem like it could break. the feelings you had only grew as soobin made sure to always buy you a filling meal paired with your favorite coffee at the café you studied at (which he managed to get you to spill out just for this purpose!!), sticking by your side to keep you from getting stressed over the work (even if he knew you would understand it completely the second you reviewed your notes).
the feelings deepened when he had convinced your parents that you needed a break in order to continue doing well (which you already felt extremely grateful for) and took you to the park, a volleyball hidden in the backpack he carried aside from the picnic basket and blanket compiled in one arm as he excitedly dragged you with the other. the day was spent with a perfect blue sky scattered with a few fluffy white clouds you looked at with him, delicious food that he looked through his mother's cookbook to make, and "teaching" you how to play volleyball when in reality he was doing what he learned from the youtube tutorial he watched last night after sending you the daily good night message. all you could think about after the day ended was how you ever met this angel who found his way into your life.
your feelings occupied your entire soul, body, and mind the second day he got you a break and took you to a swimming pool for lessons. he had convinced your parents again, except this time stating something different would help free your mind and this activity would be a learning experience for you. little did you know he was taking you to a beginners swimming lesson, having no clue you already knew how to swim. the entire time you had been doing your best keeping him from drowning in the 3ft side of the pool with the kids. you couldn't help but laugh at how silly this man was almost dying in water half his height while wearing a swim cap and goggles. halfway through he had given up on the class, declaring it a lost cause, sticking to the tupe floaties he had around his arms and waist. out of all the times you had with soobin of even your life, that was probably the most you had laughed or smiled. you were so grateful for choi soobin.
the lonely hearts book club. if you had to present yourself as a book, this would be the one you choose. it was the book that had been chosen for this week's book club (with you recommending it) and to say you were excited was an understatement. an extra plus was how you knew soobin was going to probably skim through the book and go on spark notes at most which meant you would get to explain your absolute favorite book to your crush at the park you first hung out at together. just the thought made your cheeks redden as you squealed into your pillow and hugged the book tightly. sitting up right, you pulled your bedside laptop table with your pens and highlighters as you flipped to the first page. the dedication page. looking at the words you wondered what it'd be like writing a dedication to him, what it'd be like being able to show how you felt for him in words that could never be removed. pulling the cap of the pen off you started writing it all out.
"this one's for mary. arthur and sloane belong as much to you as they do me. and for soobin. who's like a breath of fresh air from this stressful life i live. who makes me laugh harder than ever at whatever you do because i can't help but find you to be the funniest person on earth even if you don't do a thing. who does his best to make me comfortable even if i'm in my own home because you know how it seems like a living hell to me at times. who always points at a ramdom cloud in the sky to say it reminds him of me and despite it sounding absolutely ridiculous at first, makes it work in the end. who fulfilled my dream of dancing in the rain with someone i love (even if he didn't know it) just like in the books. who i always learn something new about even if we've soon approached 100 days of being friends. who i wish i could be more than friends with."
putting the pen down, you took a deep breath knowing it was too late to take it all back. turning the page you read while you highlighting everything.. and by everything you meant parts that just seemed to remind you of soobin. green for the things you wished to do with him, orange for the things that you wanted to share with him from the book, and blue for things that he made you feel like. this weekend would be something for sure.
choose character – soobin.
filling out the page of his journal on new things about yn for the day, he couldn't help but smile as he listed all the things while thinking about her, even as his hand started getting sore. the next time they would see each other would be this weekend, for the book club and to celebrate their 100 days together. his mind began to wander and think of what it'd be like if it was 100 days as a couple instead. he couldn't help but giggle at the thought, red flowing to his cheeks and ears. the happy thoughts had him act on impulse, dedicating a page of the journal to confess.
"i'm scared i'll regret this soon but seriously, thank you so much for coming into my life yn. everyday i learn something about you, i look forward to journaling it so that i'll never have an excuse to forget a thing. you changed me so much as a human and i want to continue staying with you and changing for the better. i became more brave the day i asked to walk you home and got your number, the time i got the guts to even call you pretty face to face, the day i asked you to spend the day with me at the park which in my head i imagined to be a date in order to convince myself to go out, and the day i faced my fears and went swimming even if you laughed at me the whole time. you made me love things i never knew i'd love like books and a whole other person. i always look forward to book club meetings knowing you'll light up at being able to pick up something new to read and talk about something you enjoyed about it to me after. you made me discover that i could love you. to be honest i can't explain why i love you but i think that just proves my point more. there is no specific reason about you that makes me have such feelings for you yet i feel them just thinking about you. i hope you'll accept my heart. - your soosoo ⸜(ˊ▽ˋ*) "
choose character – overseer.
meeting up for the weekend was terrifying for both soobin and yn. both of them had texted less the day before, way too nervous about seeing the other to pay attention to it at all. when they finally spotted each other at the park, their hands quickly clutched around the book/journal they were holding. at the same time, they both handed the book to each other, a flustered and slightly shocked look on both their faces as receiving something in return was not what any of them had predicted. "ah- you can read yours first-" "no you should read yours first-" "no i insist-" "well so do i!" the raise in volume at soobins words had you laugh a bit, the nerves leaving your system for a minute. "should we just read it at the same time then?" a small nod with pursed lips was all you needed to open up the leather journal while soobin flipped open the book. silence filled the air as you both read what each of you had done, shocked yet excited and glad that the other felt the same. even after 2½ hours had passed and you both had finished reading the others work, you still stay silent, afraid to do anything first. since soobin had been the one to initiate things between the two of you the most, you wanted to be first this time. adrenaline had taken over you as you impulsively (but with no regrets!!) kissed his cheek before quickly realizing what you had done and turning your head away from him, mumbling while your face turned red, "why would you ever think i wouldn't accept you.." that was all soobin needed to hug you tighter than he ever did, smiling wide and slightly jumping on the bench you both had been sitting on. thank god he signed up for that book club.

Seeing the children of Gaza under siege brings all of this back. I have spent my whole life coming to terms with growing up in violence, when I was made to learn that children are fodder for war – “collateral damage”, according to the people who talk endlessly about war on TV. My life has been an endless search for the humanity that my granny believed in till the very end. “How terrified and vengeful are the men who kill children?” she would say quietly, as if asking herself. I hear that question today.
Children bear the brunt of war. Working as a humanitarian on the Syrian border in 2014, I saw injuries caused by the barrel bombs that were dropped on civilians day after day. The barrels were packed with nails, shrapnel and oil. The injuries were horrific. Children were killed by nails that pierced their skull or oil that burned them alive. Between 2011 and 2021, a child was killed or injured every eight hours on average in Syria. In Iraq and Ukraine, cluster bombs dropped by the US and Russia kill children long after they have been dropped or fired. These illegal weapons are designed by people who want the bombs to remain dormant until they are ready to kill again, usually children who pick them up. I now know that there are no monsters in the dark. Only adults who are terrified enough to kill.
The feeling that someone wants you dead never quite goes away. It lives in your body as an alarm reminding you that the world is dangerous and unfriendly. It colours every new interaction – you learn forensic vigilance when entering a new place. The question – will this kill me? – is playing on a loop in your subconscious, only sometimes floating to the surface and shocking you out of your day to day existence.
War has the same impact on children, no matter where they are born. I began to understand this after a beloved teacher whose father was one of the first soldiers to liberate Auschwitz gave me Anne Frank’s diary. I recognised the same dialogue in her thoughts as she hid from the people that wanted her dead. She wondered just as I had about who was inflicting such cruel violence and why. Reading her entries, I lived through her bargaining and her attempt to make sense of a world that didn’t value children’s lives, a world that dehumanised her so that she could be killed.
I founded a charity, Amna, in 2016, to help children recover from the trauma of war. Working with refugee children in Greece, I saw the same terror and confusion that I felt when living through war. I’ll always remember a little Kurdish girl in one of the play groups that I ran at a camp in northern Greece. She was seven or eight years old – the same age as my sister when we fled from Kabul. She was so scared that she had stopped speaking. She was scared of other children. She was scared of the adults in the room. Even when I offered her a toy she would wince and hide behind her mother. She remained speechless for months, until the care she received in group therapy made her feel safe enough to reach for a toy. Still tentative, still scared, she held the soft toy carefully away from her face as if following instructions of her own.
War confuses people, especially the adults who wage them. They get lost in technicalities and self-deception, the desire to be righteous in their pain and victimhood, no matter what the cost. As a child it was so clear to me what needed to be done. I would get angry after each experience of hiding from the shells. I didn’t understand it then, but there was such intelligence in my anger. It didn’t manifest as a desire for revenge or the need to make me or my family into victims who couldn’t recover our life or our humanity. It came out as a resolute demand that played over and over in my 10-year-old head, and has echoed ever since: stop killing children.
‘I remember the silence between the falling shells’: the terror of living under siege as a child

meet me at midnight
summary: it’s new year’s eve. it’s also the first time you’ll be ringing in the new year with ethan edwards and taylor swift
warnings: partying
word count: 1.2k
“ethan! are you guys ready to go?” mark shouted, his voice booming through the surprisingly quiet house. “almost,” ethan mumbled, watching as you finished applying the mascara that you loved so much. he gave you a pointed look through the mirror, one that begged you to hurry up. “i don’t know what his problem is. the party doesn’t start until 10:30,” you said, giving your lashes a final swipe with the wand. “and it’s 10:35 y/n,” mark said, popping into ethan’s room, where you were getting ready. the three of you decided to go to a party to celebrate new year’s eve considering that the three of you were the only ones left in ann arbor.
“have you ever heard of being fashionably late? because that’s what we’re going for here,” you questioned, looking up at the taller boy. mark rolled his eyes, but the small smile on his face gave him away; he wasn’t really mad at you. “ready?” ethan asked, squeezing your hip. “yeah. oh wait! let’s take a picture!” you cheered, pulling out your phone. you gestured for mark to get in, and he did, very reluctantly. the three of you stood together, all smiling as you took a photo. “okay saved and posted on the private. let’s go,” you said, taking a hold of ethan’s hand as the three of you locked up the house.
the three of you hopped into an uber, one that mark called, and headed towards the party. the ride was filled with mindless chatter, laughs, and ethan’s fingers tracing patterns on your jean clad thighs. in what feels like mere minutes, the uber pulls to a stop in front of the house. “thank you so much! happy new year,” you said, exiting the car after ethan. the second your feet touched down on the pavement, ethan had his arm wrapped around your shoulders. he placed a soft kiss on your temple before leading you up the stairs and into the house.
the house was already jammed packed. people were standing around chatting with friends. a game of beer pong was in full swing in the living room, surrounded by a crowd of people dancing to the incredibly loud music. the tv was playing the new year’s eve countdown in the background. “let’s go get a drink,” ethan said, his lips ghosting over the shell of your ear. you hummed, nodding in agreement as you followed him into the kitchen.
once you were in the semi-calmer kitchen area, you realized that mark was no longer with you guys. “where’s mark?” you asked, eyes frantically searching for the tall strawberry blonde in the crowd. “he found some people from one of his classes, i think he went to talk to them,” ethan replied, shrugging his shoulders. “are you sure?” you answered.
your response made ethan love you even more. mark was his friend, and yes the two of you were friends too, but your connection to him wasn’t as strong. granted mark would drop anything for you in a heartbeat, and vice versa. there was just something about your response and willingness to make sure mark was okay that had ethan looking at you with such adoration in his eyes.
“god i love you,” ethan said, completely out of the blue. you blushed, turning to face him. “i love you too eddy,” you replied shyly. he loved that you still got flustered around him despite being together for almost a year. “can i kiss you?” he asked, putting his cup down on the counter. you smiled, nodding at his question, allowing him to pull you into a deep kiss. it was slow and meaningful, full of appreciation for you. “mark will be just fine, okay?” ethan said, withdrawing his lips from yours. his big hands cupped your cheeks while his eyes met yours. “okay,” you replied, convinced by the confident look from your boyfriend. “now let’s go mingle,” ethan announced, allowing his hand to settle along the small of your back as he led you towards a group of mutual friends.
an hour later, everyone was gathering in the living room. the music had been lowered so that it was barely audible. the games of beer pong and other drinking activities had come to brief pause. everyone was focused on the tv, watching ryan seacrest countdown the last few minutes until midnight. “oh my god. we should play midnights by taylor swift! that way, at midnight, she can sing ‘meet me at midnight’!” some girl, who you recognized as stassie from your stats class, said. “babe we’re not,” her boyfriend cut her off, but it was too late as she was already connecting her phone to the aux.
a groan echoed across the room, mostly from the male population in attendance. they were silenced, however, by the killer glares of the swifties present. “what do you say ethan? will you meet me at midnight?” you asked, a teasing smile on your face. “hmm i don’t know sweetheart. what’s in it for me?” he replied, playing along with you. “a new year’s kiss,” you promised, a sweet smile on your face as you looked up at him through your lashes.
the two of you were focused on each other. ethan’s eyes were baring into yours as he thought about how lucky he was. you were amazing, truly. he met you back at the beginning of freshman year, and then the two of you began dating shortly after winter break. he remembered feeling like you’d reject him when he approached you with sweaty palms and a slightly wilted bouquet of flowers. he was over the moon when you said yes, and he truly couldn’t imagine his life without you. you were his rock, his number one supporter, and his lover all wrapped into this brilliant package.
you felt the exact same way about ethan. when your mother called to check in on you, you found yourself ranting to her about how lucky you were. not only were you dating a respectful and caring guy, but he was also attractive and one hundred percent out of your league. ethan was everything you wanted in a man; he was the prince charming that you envisioned as a kid. now he was here, in the flesh, with you and you were not planning on letting him go.
“ten seconds!” someone shouted, drawing both you and ethan out of your thoughts. you blinked, trying to refocus on your boyfriend and your surroundings. “someone cue up the taylor!” a voice called from further back in the room. the girl from earlier, stassie, was all too happy to comply as she started the song lavender haze, the one with taylor’s iconic line.
“meet me at midnight?” ethan asked quietly, hands coming to rest on your waist. “anything for you baby,” you answered, wrapping your arms around his neck, fingers curling in his hair, as he pulled you into him. he didn’t need to be told twice; your lips collided in a heated kiss. there were whoops and hollers surrounding you, but it was all background noise as you rang in the new year completely enthralled with each other.

January 15th 1803 saw the birth of Marjory Fleming, "Pet Marjory", child writer and poet, who died in 1811 of meningitis at the age of 8 years and 11 months.
One of my favourite, yet tragic tales, young Pet Marjory is a touching story of a wee lass that packed so much into her short life.
Marjory Fleming was an extraordinary child prodigy, she left poems, letters and a journal that are now one of the treasures of the National Library of Scotland; and in 1889 Sir Leslie Stephen, Virginia Woolf's father, wrote an entry about her for the original Dictionary of National Biography, believing that 'no more fascinating infantile author has ever appeared. What makes this all the more remarkable is, Marjory was a mere 8 years old when she died.
It’s been said she was a distant relative of Sir Walter Scott, although there is no real evidence they ever met Robert Louis Stevenson and Mark Twain also thought highly of her.
Marjory spent most of her sixth, seventh and eighth years in Edinburgh being tutored by her teenage cousin, Isabella Keith. Isabella is mentioned is the somewhat odd opening line of Marjory’s famous journal: ‘Many people are hanged for Highway robbery Housebreking Murder &c. &c. Isabella teaches me everything I know and I am much indebted to her she is learnen witty & sensible.’
Marjory returned to Kirkcaldy in July 1811, and wrote on 1 September to her cousin, ‘We are surrounded with measles at present on every side’. She herself contracted measles in November and although she apparently recovered, died in December from what is now thought to have been meningitis. She was a month short of her ninth birthday.
Marjory was an accomplished and witty poet and diarist although she was not published until 50 years after her death. Her writings became hugely popular in the Victorian period albeit with the published editions altered as some her her language was thought inappropriate for an eight year old. The first account of her was given by a London journalist in the Fife Herald and reprinted as a booklet entitled Pet Marjorie: a Story of Child Life Fifty Years Ago. The nickname ‘Pet’ and the spelling of her name with ‘ie’ were inventions of her biographer: both appear on Marjory’s gravestone in Abbotshall Kirkyard, Kirkcaldy erected in 1930.
Marjory’s precocious intellect is noted in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography: ‘She records enjoying the poems of Pope and Gray, the Arabian Nights, Ann Radcliff’s ‘misteris [sic] of udolpho’, the Newgate calendar, and ‘tails’ by Maria Edgworth and Hannah More.’ Her abilities are also apparent in the pithy comments in her journal and in her valiant attempts to write in rhyming couplets.
Robert Louis Stevenson is quoted as saying, ‘Marjory Fleming was possibly – no, I take back possibly – she was one of the noblest works of God.’
I had a hunt around and found a few of her poems and have picked out two that I liked best the first is written about her cousin with whom she lived in Edinburgh, the simplicity and innocence of the poem I must admit has brought a tear to my eye, especially as it written by a 6 year old……“
My Dear love Isabella”
Here lies sweet Isabell in bed,
With a night-cap on her head;
Her skin is soft, her face is fair,
And she has very pretty hair;
She and I in bed lie nice.
And undisturbed by rats and mice;
She is disgusted with Mr. Worgan,
Though he plays upon the organ.
Her nails are neat, her teeth are white,
Her eyes are very, very bright;
In a conspicuous town she lives,
And to the poor her money gives;
Here ends sweet Isabella’s story,
And may it be much to her glory.I love in Isa’s bed to lie,
Oh, such joy and luxury!
The bottom of the bed I sleep,
And with great care within I creep;
Oft I embrace her feet of lillys,
But she has gotten all the pillys.
Her neck I never can embrace,
But I do hug her feet in place.
