"I'd very much like to be able to just show my true identity. Having to wear this rag just makes me feel like someone I'm not, and considering I usually love to socialize, it's really irritating. As for trying to be around others without it, I haven't tried that, mainly because people are known to die just from looking at Mimikyu. Harmony and Ayita have told me they once met a Mimikyu whose appearance wasn't fatal... but I don't know if I want to risk it on the very small chance that I'm the same."

Rating the Entities’ Avatars

The Desolation: dumbass arsonists. obviously evil, but having a good time with it, and i can respect that. however, being made of wax is a stupid joke and doesn’t seem very sustainable. 6.5/10

The Dark: had the potential to be incredibly cool, edgy goths and completely squandered it. call their terrifying otherworldly fear entity “mr pitch” like he’s a fucking cartoon villain who has never committed a single crime outside of being threatening to children. ruined approximately 6000 years of being scary and cool. even children shouldn’t be scared of these absolute losers. -100/10

The Vast: mind their own business. will kill you if provoked, but that’s valid. polite! neat powers, could be used wide-scale if they felt like it. bonus points for mike crew bc i love him. 7.5/10

The Buried: seemingly don’t exist. we’ve never met a Buried avatar. only one has ever been mentioned, which is WACK. i have to assume they’re like the mole guy from Atlantis, but we may never know. ?/10

The Eye: technically gerry’s not an avatar, but he was the only one metal enough to get eye tattoos so 8.5/10 for gerry and also spooky compulsion powers. would be higher, but most Beholding avatars are not all that effective and/or dumbasses

The Flesh: don’t like that. 9/10 for scary, 0/10 for jared hopworth sucks

The Lonely: generally annoying and weirdly social for having sworn themselves to an entity about loneliness. tbh? not that scary. insufferable, but respect for having a brand and sticking to it. 4/10, but i’m willing to give bonus points for having the best static.

The Spiral: I LOVE THE SPIRAL. everyone here is just having a great time, doing whatever the hell they want. motive? identity? gender? who cares, don’t want one. can basically teleport wherever, even strongholds for other entities, which is the dream. don’t even always murder people, which is nice of them. 10/10

The Corruption: i will admit this one lowkey scares me the most but that’s the germaphobia and hypochondria, babey! avatars are just mobile bug houses, which is lame and not at all a good power to have. utmost respect for jane prentiss for singlehandedly attacking the archives and nearly taking out Archivist Threats before they can evolve, but also was killed by CO2 very easily. 5/10

The Slaughter: who knows bc the thing they’re best at is dying. probably very boring. only good at being stabby, but in an unsexy way. 2/10

The Hunt: “Thrill of the Chase” is an absolute banger of an episode, but the avatars themselves are not especially scary. straight up let victims go all the time. ineffective. might as well go back to high school gym class and play manhunt. 3/10

The Stranger: i love the not!them and anatomy class kids. very good and unsettling. almost all the other avatars are circus-themed tho, which is an ugly aesthetic and i hate it. have to admit it’s creepy tho. 10/10 for spookiness, 1/10 for style. 

The Web: made us all in love w annabelle cane. dedicated to their aesthetic. can do literally nothing and still get fed, and i respect that work ethic. saved (most of) the og archive staff from worms, so i owe them my life. 10/10

The End: honestly, why bother having avatars if you’re known for being passive and getting everyone eventually. seems like a waste of time. i adore oliver banks, but he is categorically the least scary character in the magnus archives. furthermore, justin gough did not need to be beholden to a fear entity to go around being a serial killer with a shtick. 3/10

The Silence of the Lams, Psycho, Friday the Thirteenth, Silent Hill, The Conjuring, Insidious & Annabelle (yeah I went overboard with it so what)

The Silence of the Lambs -  What was something that you used to be afraid of that you aren’t afraid of anymore? Literally everything? I was a huge wimp as a kid. The dark, knives, blood, needles, spiders, you name it. Spiders still make me a bit uncomfortable but everything else is fine now. Also used to be hella scared of the original Leatherface but uhh, yeah, now I have a figurine of him on a shelf right next to my bed so.

Psycho -  What was your childhood like? Quite nice and peaceful actually. Was (still am) very close with my family so we did some stuff together, all in all good memories. I especially remember the little things somehow; collecting walnuts in autumn with my uncles dog running around always stopping for some head pats, baking cookies with my mum every Christmas even though she hated it, trips to the Baltic Sea and all that stuff. I’m grateful for my childhood tbh.

Friday the 13th -  What would you do for those you love? From small shit like watching a movie I hate with them because they love it, over taking a plane to go see them, to getting myself in danger, probably everything. I am still a wimp but if I love u, I love u.

Silent Hill -  If you could go anywhere without worrying about money, where would you go? Where are some places that reality feels distorted for you? Honestly, I would probably go to all the places I planned on using in the story I wrote as a teenager. Make it a world trip around the world, babey! I even did that already somehow. Part of the story took place in Amsterdam and one certain coffee shop was important for the story, I chose it cause I liked the name and the location was nice enough. And when I went to Amsterdam once I actually went to this stupid coffee shop and it felt so weird and cool. Like I’m suddenly part of the story I came up with, you know. And those places are all so,, irrelevant almost. A restaurant called Glädje in Skövde (that I think doesn’t even exist anymore?), galerie unter berlin in - surprise - Berlin, St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York etc. Those are all such random places 15 year old me thought are interesting and seeing them for real would actually be so cool.

The Conjuring -  If you could learn any new skill, what would you learn? I’d rather learn a new language tbh, or two. I just don’t have the discipline for it and I hate it 😩 Would love to know Russian and Dutch, ngl.

Insidious -  When you were a child, what job did you want when you got older? What job do you have now? Do you like it? Why or why not? If you could have any job, what would it be?  Didn’t have a dream job as a kid but when I was a bit older I wanted to study forensic/criminal psychology afghsg. Yeah, I was too much of a dummy for that so now I’m a librarian and work - ironically enough - in a university library. I like it a lot though! Great colleagues, perfect balance between working with others and working on my own, good money. I’m not the career type, really, never would’ve had the motivation to finish uni. I’m happy with the way things are right now. I can pay my rent and don’t dread going to work everyday, that’s all that matters to me.

Annabelle -  What did you do for fun as a child? Read!!! I read so much as a kid, god. But also go ride my bike up and down the single road we had in our village, go on silly adventures with my neighbour & best friend, talk to the horses that were right next to our backyard, draw and daydream a bit.

Any Entities that Don’t Scare You?

none of them really scare me in themselves, though occasional episodes do and the Corruption often makes me want to claw my skin off. I think the Buried and the Lonely have never managed to scare me at all (Vast trash, babey! and Lost in the Crowd just made me want to travel alone even more), and the Beholding and End mostly don’t either. The Dark doesn’t bother me by itself on PRINCIPLE but some things in its episodes get me but for peripheral reasons (ie eye gore or the monster sounding fleshy or...) but i do get scared IRL in the dark...? Desolation and Spiral don’t scare me but they hurt :’(
