"I just never really feel anything anymore, that's what it is. I never look forward to anything." "Oh, Doctor." "Except you, Nana. I will always love you. You know, when I was a little boy I had a lovely nana, just like you. Gave me long, deep hugs. I used to feel like nothing could harm me." "You remind me of someone too. Please, have a drink."

This video has an audience of probably 1 (me), but when has that ever deterred me from posting?
Timothy Dalton and Anna Calder-Marshall is my favorite version of Wuthering Heights on film, because it's by far the most sexually charged. (youtube)

Thanks to bigglestheace for the answer:
...it's Anna Calder-Marshall, and the picture is a publicity shot for 'Pussycat, Pussycat, I Love You (1970)'.

Laurence Olivier carrying the lifeless bodies of two Catherine Earnshaws.
First as Heathcliff in 1939, carrying Merle Oberon's Cathy.
Then as King Lear in 1983, carrying Anna Calder-Marshall's Cordelia – she played Cathy in the 1970 Wuthering Heights with Timothy Dalton as Heathcliff.
I just think it's an interesting coincidence and parallel. Especially because scholars sometimes argue that Wuthering Heights shows some influence from King Lear in its tone.

To be honest, I don’t understand why Margot is doing that movie. She’s massively successful and richer than ever thanks to Barbie. One would think that she can afford to be more picky about her projects (then again, there’s Reese W that is quite practically in the billions, reads several great books a month, is a critically acclaimed actress, but makes the crappiest Netflix/Amazon movies lately which boggles my mind). It sucks that people are being crappy about her looks and age, but she’s indeed too old for the part. It’s obvious that there have been some considerable changes to the source material for this movie to work with the actors they hired which makes me think that it would’ve been better to come up with a new idea altogether. (Although I know there’s not originality in Hw anymore). The whitewashing of Heathcliff’s character is by far the worst part of this, and I’m really curious to see what the director says about it once that are promoting it. The one teaser picture they released makes it look like it will have tons of s*x scenes 😶
margot robbie is a somewhat frequent Fennell collaborator (her company produced saltburn and promising young woman). she is pretty good at producing projects here and there. yes, barbie is her biggest success. can she be picky about her roles? maybe, probably.
now, is she too old for the part of cathy?
well. i dont think she is.
merle oberon was 28 around the time 1939 Wuthering Heights came out. (Olivier was 32). 1970 WH, Anna Calder-Marshall was 23 (Dalton was 24). 1992 WH, Juliet Binoche was 28 ( Fiennes was 30). 2011 WH, Kaya Scodelario was 19. (IDK how old the actor for Heathcliff was, there's some drama there).
And these are supposedly the 'movie' versions. or 'popular' adaptations if you will.
As you can see, the part of Cathy\Catherine has been cast as a variety of ages. That's not really the problem. Robbie's age of 34 is not a hindrance (btw Elordi is 27 but again his age isnt a problem either, its literally uh...his appearance (white) ) . It's that she doesn't look like how people envision Cathy to look like.
Do I agree that she doesn't look the part? Yes, bc Fennell is keeping her as blonde. It doesn't look like there are attempts at changing Robbie's appearance. But if you've seen Fennell's work, or you saw Saltburn, then you have a good idea of what's gonna happen to WH.
Spoiler: it's not attempting to be a faithful adaptation. that doesnt mean i agree with anything surrounding the production. im just saying, it is what it is. no one's trying to fool you. you already know the casting is off, you already know Fennell wrote the script. She's not trying to do a faithful adaptation. she has a message on class to put out and maybe yes, a weird sex scene. who knows. but no one surrounding this movie is trying to pull the wool over your eyes.
Lastly, I'm gonna saying something that I dont think is controversial but maybe it is? If someone younger was playing Cathy, like hmm idk Daisy Edgar-Jones or something, then the casting of Elordi as Heathcliff wouldn't even matter to some people. The most people can say apparently is that he's a tall australian. wow. the insults for him are astounding.

Interviewer: In 2006, you had the opportunity to work with another Burke, your son Tom, in “Number 13,” the M. R. James Christmas ghost story. Was that the first time you ever worked with Tom on screen?
David Burke: The first time we worked together professionally. When Tom was still at school, we used to do performances in the village hall.
Anna Calder-Marshall: We’d make them up, in secret, just comedy, clowning, poems…we’d do Victoria Wood sketches.
David: Tom was brilliant at that.
Anna: Brilliant…we’d work them up over Christmas … We worked so much together as a threesome. I mean we did show after show … we must have done about 8 or something.
Interviewer: Do you think Tom would ever give the role of Dr. Watson a try?
David: I think he has too much charisma.
Interviewer: I was gonna say, I think he could probably play Holmes …
David: He actually does a speech…
Anna: … Holmes, as Jeremy Brett. He’s an incredible mimic. He learned it for one of our shows.

I was looking for a word that means “the most iconic Watson of them all”, “married for fifty years”, “father of my favourite musketeer”, “gave up Watson’s part to raise his son” but I couldn't find one so I’ll just leave these here.
