One of the scenes from the little golden shrine found in Tutankhamun’s tomb. It shows his wife, Ankhesenamun, seated in front of him while he pours oils of some sort into her hand.
New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1332-1323 BC. Tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62), Valley of the Kings, Thebes. Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 61481

Ankhesenamun: "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"
I was tame, I was gentle 'til the circus life made me mean "Don't you worry, folks, we took out all her teeth" Who's afraid of little old me? Well, you should be.

Ankhesenamun
Had enough time in the evening to knock out one more doodle of a baddie. Can't you tell I love drawing these gals?
Anyway, this one is the Egyptian queen Ankhesenamun, who was wed to her half-brother Tutankhamun (aka "King Tut") when he became Pharaoh at around age nine (she would have been about three years his senior). After Tut's passing, Ankhesenamun is known to have sent out letters to the Hittites asking for a prince to marry, but the poor dude seems to have suspiciously died en route. It's possible that someone contending for the Egyptian throne (possibly Ay or Horemheb, both government officials at the time who would each become Pharaoh in time) had him murdered to eliminate the competition. I doubt our widowed queen was happy about that.

Tutankhamun and Ankhesenamun
Queen Ankhesenamun holds a salve-cup and spreads perfumed oil on her husband’s collar in a typical Amarna style scene, the sun disc Aten shines above the royal couple. At the time it was made, their names were Tutankhaten and Ankhespaaten.
The young king appears sitting and being regaled with an ointment by his wife Ankhesenamun. The king wears a composite crown and a broad collar and the queen wears a diadem. The bodies and wigs of both of them are inlaid with exquisite colored glass and their linen robes are silver.
Detail of the back of the golden throne of Tutankhamun. Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 62028
