26. Anime or Manga

Well... I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to say both. Because I have worked hard so my fic wouldn't contradict either of them even though they contradict each other at times. Especially Extra/Last Game, obviously. But I worked my way around it, and I'm happy with the result because I got to write a funny scene that expresses my opinion on the movie without actually breaking the fourth wall. I had started to write my fic before the movie came out, and I hadn't anticipated it would be different from the manga, so it was a bit of a shock I had to incorporate something so dramatically different from how I had thought things would go, into my story, but honestly I think it made my story better. It was probably the reason I learned to welcome changes of plans with open arms in the later parts of the story too, and each time I've done that and not pushed an idea aside because it's too "risky" or too out there, my story has become better and more meaningful. That's my own opinion of course (but it's not just my opinion, I know people who agree, thankfully).

There might still be some little details that technically contradict each other because I'm sure I've forgotten some little speech bubble in the corner or misinterpreted some loosely translated piece of information, but what's important to me is that I don't contradict the essence of things, so instead of ignoring one, I combine the essence of both and find where the two are or could be one.

Generally speaking, I do tend to prefer whatever version I saw first. With KnB even that gets tricky, because while I started to watch the anime first, it was still on-going, so I went to read the manga between seasons, and finished reading it before the anime was complete. So, funnily enough my synthesized relationship with both goes as far back as my first touch with the series.
