Note
my brain is fried i'm so overtired I've cried spontaneously at least once a day for the past three days will you please help a girl out with a soft cozy wholesome movie recc please and thank you
I’m so sorry my dear!! I dug to the depths of a bunch of old tag games and my film tag and this is what I came up with!
when I’m strung out I tend to gravitate to movies that will make me happy-cry so this list will at moments tend in that direction. I tried to sort by what was available to stream now, and the sub-lists are in no particular order
if you have amazon prime (the basic package):
Penelope (2006). highly recommend, a funny little modern fairy tale about a lonely young girl searching for a way to break her curse. this one heals something in my heart
Stardust. also highly recommend! a chaotic fairy tale about true love and what a person would do for it.
Street Gang. the Sesame Street documentary. sometimes people are good and they’re trying to make the world a better place and they’re doing it with their friends.
How To Train Your Dragon. it’s a perfectly executed film and the score and animation is gorgeous. (also available on netflix)
if you have netflix:
Feel the Beat. a dance flick about a seemingly cold-hearted ambitious young woman becoming a dance teacher in her hometown
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. so so so rewatchable.
She’s the Man. the funniest movie on this list and possibly of all time. I have never shown this movie to a person who didn’t end up loving it. it’s Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at boarding school as a soccer movie
if you have tubi?? you might not need a membership I don’t know how tubi works??
The Music Man. some of the best costumes and choreography my favorite age of movie musicals had to offer. a con man comes to a small Iowa town and starts to want to believe in the beautiful lie he’s selling.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. this movie was written by Roald Dahl and it is buck wild. widowed inventor and his two children buy a broken down racing car and?? hijinks and musical numbers ensue
if you have disney plus:
Princess Diaries (1&2). we know them, we love them.
Sky High. if you haven’t seen this, I highly recommend it because it is silly fun but it understands the genre it’s playing with.
Newsies (1992). scrappy newsboys form a union, sing songs, punch each other, ???, profit
Holes. the single best adapted book to film ever? the cast commentary is also hilarious
Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella (1997). absolutely delightful. Whitney Houston as the godmother! Jason Alexander as the butler! Brandy as Cinderella! Bernadette Peters as the stepmother!
if you feel up for a trip to the library, things to look for:
The Hundred Foot Journey. I only saw this one once but it’s about a family who opens up an Indian restaurant across from a Michelin-starred French restaurant and it’s gorgeous
A League of Their Own (1992). sisters! best friends! married women and their disreputable drunk coach friends!
The Secret Garden (1993). highly recommend! this one fixes me down to my bones.
This Beautiful Fantastic. also highly recommend! a woman who’s afraid of the world falls in love with it.
Secondhand Lions. also highly recommend!! a boy gets dropped off with his great-uncles for the summer, hears possibly made-up stories of their wild and adventurous youth
August Rush. a young musical prodigy searches for his parents.
Sense and Sensibility (1995). if you need Austen energy, this is the one.
Cinderella (2015). this movie is so gentle and so lovely.
Little Women (1994). life is gonna be hard and sad but it’s gonna be beautiful and the love will endure!!!
I hope this helps and I hope you feel better! ❤️❤️

Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊 To You
The Loveable & Superb American Actor👦🏻 Who Gained His Way To Stardom in 2006
PLAYING THE LEGENDARY MAN OF STEEL 🦸‍♂️
Born On October 9th, 1979
Routh is the third of four children born to Catherine LaVaughn (née Lear), a teacher, and Ronald Ray Routh, a carpenter. He was raised in nearby Norwalk. Routh was raised in a Methodist family, and has English, Scottish, German, Irish, Welsh and Dutch ancestry.
Routh grew up in Norwalk, approximately 100 miles (160 km) south of Woolstock, the birthplace of George Reeves, the first actor to play Superman on television. During his childhood, Routh thought a full-time acting career was unrealistic, citing his small-town background. In his spare time, he played the trumpet and the piano.
Routh attended Norwalk High School, where he played sports, and participated in music and theatre. He attended this school at the same time as Jason Momoa, who would also later become an actor in film adaptations of DC Comics. He has described himself as a "momma's boy" and not "the most popular kid" during his school years. Routh has also noted that during his younger years, he was fond of the Superman films and comic books.
Routh attended the University of Iowa for a year, aspiring to be a writer. During this time, he modeled and acted in order to earn his tuition expenses.
He is an American actor. He portrayed Superman in the 2006 film Superman Returns, which garnered him international fame. In 2011, he played the title character of the film Dylan Dog: Dead of Night. He also had a recurring role in the NBC series Chuck, as Daniel Shaw. Routh also played a supporting role in the film Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008), and played Todd Ingram in the film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), reprising the role in the animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (2023).
Routh has said he was often told that he bore a physical resemblance to Christopher Reeve, who had previously portrayed Superman in a film series. His former manager signed him on because of the resemblance, telling him that he thought Routh would be cast as Superman if there were another film in the series.
In 2014, Routh once again played a superhero for DC Comics as Ray Palmer / The Atom on The CW's Arrow. He was a recurring character throughout season three.
In January 2015, Arrow's co-creator and executive producer Greg Berlanti stated that they were in the midst of "very early" preliminary talks for an additional spin-off series centered on Ray Palmer/The Atom.
In the superhero series Legends of Tomorrow (2016–2022), Routh co-starred as The Atom, along with Arthur Darvill, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber, and Caity Lotz.
Routh reprised his role as Clark Kent / Superman in the 2019–2020 Arrowverse crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths", affected by events adapted from the Kingdom Come storyline.
Please Wish This Superb & Incredible American Actor & Avid Gamer & All Round Comic Book Fanboy Lover

Writer : Amy Densham
Whether your kids live in rural Iowa or downtown NYC. If they have cosplaying parents or only they just learned about Halloween. Astrid and Leah bring that excited, welcoming, Con energy to their student’s computer screens all over the world.
The platform is Outschool. It’s been around since 2015 and started as a go-to for homeschoolers. During the  COVID-19 pandemic, Outschool grew beyond homeschooling. It became a place for learning and socializing whether you homeschool or not. Now serving over 1 million learners in 195 countries, Outschool has thousands of classes for ages 3 - 18. Learn about dinosaurs from a paleontologist. C# coding from a game developer. Or cosplay from an expert seamstress and a professional actress.
Tumblr media
Astrid Turner, bubbly and all smiles, remembers standing in line at a Con: “The cosplay community is one of the most supportive and wonderful communities out there. When I cosplay, it’s not attention on me. It’s attention for something we share. We already know we like the same things. The craftsmanship, the idea that you’re there together, dressed up, having an experience together.”
Astrid teaches Cosplay Costume Design and Creation Workshops and anything else costume-related (just send her a request). She can pleat a skirt, put a bodice in, and bring kids out of their shells with ease. Part of her class includes real-world skills like comparison shopping; if you’re asking mom to buy it, you need to have a plan.
What does Astrid hope her students walk away with from taking her class ? Ask about her experience teaching online classese.
With a classroom maximum of 5, Astrid gives personalized attention to all of her students. Some enroll with a  clear costume vision. Others just love Anime. Either way, Astrid helps them follow their own creativity and make it a reality.
Do they need a sketch? No problem. Does the fabric need to be washable? She knows just the thing. And costumes are just the beginning. Her eyes light up when she talks about intuitive, introverted students growing and connecting as the weeks go by. Someone who barely spoke in their first class is now the first one to share their progress and welcome a new student. They find their people and their voice.
Tumblr media
Leah Johnson, artful and confident, talks about her experience at Cons: “It feels like everyone is a family. They want to welcome you in. It’s an excitement of sharing. Always. Of what they’ve made, what they’ve done, other cons that they’ve gone to, and people they’ve met. Everyone there wants to inspire each other.”
Leah teaches Special FX, Halloween, and Cosplay Makeup or one-on-one classes by request. Some of her students want to become professional makeup artists. Some want to scare their grandmas with fake wounds. In both situations, Leah is raring to go! And so is her washable Mehron Practice Makeup Head - currently sporting terrifying clown makeup from her last class.
Every class is unique. Some learners pop in with full, top-of-the-line makeup kits and some join with leftovers from the makeup wearer in their house. Part of the fun for Leah and her students is figuring out how to create looks with what you’ve got. It’s a great life lesson too. Sometimes you’ll need a specific product but sometimes you just need to be resourceful. Leah playfully refers to it as preparing for the zombie apocalypse when you won’t have all the tools. Her personality beams through the screen as she uses her makeup head to show makeup techniques, up close, and with student-requested variations. For Leah, the online part wasn’t her favorite. There’s an unquantifiable distance when you’re interacting online. You aren’t in the same space. It’s not the same as in person. But she makes that work too. And it’s a small inconvenience compared to the big benefit: bringing creative, accepting spaces to students wherever they are in the world.

And it’s a small inconvenience compared to the big benefit: bringing creative, accepting spaces to students wherever they are in the world.
HOW IT STARTED
Astrid and Leah both grew up loving costumes but they didn’t find out about cosplay until much later. In each of their separate hometowns, they were that kid in full costume at the grocery store. Or decked out like crazy on Halloween. Sound familiar?
Astrid remembers her first Ren Faire: “My first costume was a disaster but I was so proud of it! Ever since then, I knew I wanted to make costumes.” Growing up in a rural area outside LA, she always wanted to go to the San Diego Comic-Con but she didn’t have anyone to go with and didn’t want to go by herself. None of her friends were cosplayers - a term she didn’t even know existed.
She taught herself to sew, learning by creating more and more complex projects. Elaborate Elizabethan gowns with striking details for the next faire.
As she grew older, Atrid took a detour, exploring other career paths but she came back to sewing when her kids were small. Making clothes and costumes for them brought back that magic. And the internet showed her there was a whole community out there. No longer the only cosplayer in town, she dove in head first.
Now Astrid and her 3 kids (ages 13, 10, and 7) attend Cons every chance they get. In full costume, of course. She enters competitions in the handmade category and, though she’s modest, has taken home more than one win. In middle school, Astrid was big into theatre, Shakespeare, and creating Renaissance costumes.
An actor, director, voiceover artist, and singer, Leah cosplays characters from Arwen to Cruella De Vil to Mary Poppins. She teaches makeup and cosplay on Outschool but does both professionally for film, theatre, and events. To name a few, she designed costumes for the TV show Kookville and a stage production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. She even did makeup and created costumes for the movie Demon Squad, which you can find in Season 13 of Mystery Science Theatre 3000. She believes that cosplay isn’t just about expressing yourself, it’s about developing yourself and creating a full aesthetic. Beyond that, she wants her students to know, they can make a career out of their creative passions. And she’ll help them do it.
Leah talks about her first Ren Faire experience: “It felt awesome because I was trying to be intentional about creating a costume for me. Not for a play. Not for someone else based on their vision. It was my vision. It was what I wanted to do.”
You feel different in your cosplay. The persona, the confidence. It can be hard to describe but Astrid and Leah teach toward that feeling in every class.
Specializing in Elizabethan and Italian Renaissance costumes, Astrid also cosplays Collei from Gensin Impact and loves growing her skills in the anime genre. She even runs a social club on Outschool where Genshin fans can hang out virtually and game together.
Astrid beams: “A lot of kids and adults choose a character and they try to match that persona. It’s a little bit of safety. I’ve had people scream ‘OH MY GOD ITS COLLEI’ and run over to me. Under normal circumstances that wouldn’t happen. But at Cons, it’s so exciting. It’s amazing to connect with other people through that persona.”
*** Leah, with her cosplay weapon collection behind her: “You feel more confident in your character’s costume. It’s a projection of your best self. A lot of work, your imagination, and your brain is now projected on the outside. People can see that part of you that they can’t see in any other situation.”
Leading by example, Leah shows her students that they can make their creative passions into careers. She beams when she talks about a student getting confident enough to make an Actor Instagram account. Or doing professional-level wedding makeup for their entire family.
Teaching online from Arkansas since 2018, Astrid volunteered for the first-ever Outschool Cosplay Convention in 2021. Now called GameCon, the 2-day event featured presentations at different times of day for different timezones. Sessions about costume design, makeup, theatre performance, and more. And, most exciting of all, the costume showcase. Every kid got a chance in the spotlight to show off their creations. Astrid, laughs now: “I burst into tears when I logged off. It was such a rush of emotions. I found my people! I wish I had this when I was a kid.”

I am finally answering my ask game questions hhahaha
3. What is your writing ritual and why is it cursed?
We both asked this question to one another quirkle and I also don't know what it means bahahahha I don't have. ritual I just have OH MAN TIME TO WRITE LETS GOOOO energy
Maybe that is my ritual. Just MUST WRITE ENERGY
7. What is your deepest joy about writing?
Writing something that I feel so good about. Something that expresses my thoughts and feelings into words. And really, that I get to read it later and sink into that headspace again.
8. If you had to write an entire story without either action or dialogue, which would you choose and how would it go?
Holy crap um. Probably.....action. I love writing action a LOT but I need dialogue. I am a huge dialogue writer. I live for dialogue and I like to hope I am pretty good at it.
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
And this is the question that took me awhile to answer.
I started writing fanfics when I was 13, kicking off with Yugioh and i wrote for that fandom from around 2003 till about 2015. I wrote so much that I considered going to collage for writing and I went to writers workshops in the summer and got into the University of Iowa's English program, which has one of the best creative writing masters programs in the country. I had planned on getting my Bachelors and Masters from there.
Well.....i burned out in my first year, moved back to Michigan, changed majors to business and slowly stopped writing as much. Some big life changes happened to me between graduating collage and 2013. I tried to keep writing but it just didn't stick. I couldn't write, nothing was happening. I lost nearly all my creativity for around 10 years.
I completely stopped writing between 2015 and 2023.
And then, in May 2023, I found this lovely lil anime we all know and love called Mob Psycho 100.
I started drawing, and I started writing, I started engaging with fandom again. I wrote Float and people commented and the read my work. I was ecstatic I didn't know what to do--people read my work, I honestly couldn't believe it. Like, the reception I got from my mp100 fanfics was so positive compared to my previous works. It was....honestly so amazing.
I then wrote the very self indulgent Just Breathe, my step into shipping once again.
And then in September I wrote one of my favorite pieces of fiction I have ever written ever in my life, which is Blackhole.
And then, I started thinking of an ageswap and Black Sweatshirt was born.
Now, I am knee deep in this ageswap fic, a post-canon series, and many other one-shots. I have written over 100,000 words in under a year. The train shows no sign of stopping (it slowed down a bit recently but I am pretty sure I just needed a break)
Right now where I am at, in this moment, is someone who is very happy with my writing. I have wonderful friends who will beta my work, there is a whole community to share my art with. My ageswap is nearly 20 chapters long (Yeah oof I know haha).
Where i am going: To finish this story. To write my post-canon series. To hopefully have readers that enjoy my work, even though it may take me months to years to finish them.
To one day, maybe one day, re-write and finish Shadows. My last YGO fanfic that I still hope to one day finish. I will rewrite the whole thing though.

I’ll be 30 this coming year. It has been 12yrs, 11mo, and 29 days between Avatar films. 410,140,800 seconds. It is an interesting feeling to come back to a world depicted on screen after so much time has passed, very nearly half the amount of time I’ve been alive.
My initial impressions of Avatar Way of Water is that if you enjoyed living in the world of Pandora in the first movie and would love some more adventures in Pandora you will enjoy the second movie. If you liked the tighter moviegoing experience the first offered you will feel a little let down. I don’t think this is a bad movie by any means, nor is it a mediocre movie. It is good. It just isn’t as tightly crafted as the original movie was.
God knows, it’s been so long most movies have been remade since then. Or revived under new premises a la Fantastic Beasts (which is a whole other animal to tackle). But I fully understand I’m coming to Way of Water with an entire kit of analytical skills I did not have when I watched the first movie, and this will impact my enjoyment of the second and let me look back fondly on the first.
Thinking between these two, not much has changed. Humans are one note greedy, comfortably made into cannon fodder for thrilling fight sequences. The navi are in tune with nature, peaceful, someone we can root for without complicated emotions. We have a new McGuffin or item everyone wants but it gets a back seat to the grudge match that takes importance over it. And rightfully so.
This is a movie that wants to do a lot of things in the three hours and twelve minutes it runs for. I’m not sure it is successful in all of them, feeling a bit like Star Wars Episode IX in that scenes run fast and loose, a little too loose in some places. The ending especially felt that fervent pace and could not slow down where it really needed to and let some scenes sit for more than a few seconds, instead summarizing via voice over because with 20-30mins of trailers frontloading this your audience has been sitting for four hours and we gotta get👏this👏shit👏going.
This movie s a Star Wars in that its science fantasy and don’t worry we can just make computer chip copies of your brain. It’s also a Toy Story 3, we’ve aged up the characters and moved their lives along to reflect the aging audience who first watched Avatar. It’s also a Star Trek IV where we’re saving the whales. This movie is trying to be a lot of things in 3hrs 12mins. Roughly, it succeeds.
There is a lot to be charmed by in the world of Pandora. It is a different kind of movie because in describing it, the movie acts more like an immersive experience with the viewer so I wouldn’t say “characters do X Y and Z” but you as the audience get to “make friends with a whale” and “learn to ride alien dolphins”. It is a world that continues to be lovingly crafted, like sitting in dnd with a dm who has laid out so much of their own lore and worldbuilding its just a delight to immerse yourself in.
Even when it is unfocused Avatar Way of Water is far and away a better experience than so many other theater movies. It’s drop dead gorgeous, and it doesn’t mind getting its hands dirty in that new aquatic environment immersing scenes in and out of water with ease. If you enjoy escapism I absolutely recommend seeing it while it’s in theaters, preferably IMAX.
A lot has changed since the first Avatar dropped 12 years 11 months and 29 days ago. Well, longer now, writing this on January 2nd. This movie is a comfortable return to the world of Pandora with uncomplicated premises and setups that do not challenge the viewer. It is a movie made by an action movie director with a long resume of quality work. If you bothered reading through my ramblings you likely have already made up your mind on whether or not you’d enjoy such a thing. I give a recommendation to seeing it, I love fantasy, I love escapism, and I love the world of Pandora. I am always down to revisit this chapter and will be excited to see later movies. Is it perfect? God no. There’s alien jesus, major death retcons, silly pacifism philosophies, its got flaws. But I do enjoy the quality of the world it gives me. Its one of the few things that can instill a sense of childlike wonder in myself and I treasure that sensation greatly.

Fireworks are a danger to the environment and even other people
Fireworks emit 60,340 tons of C02 every year. That’s a bit more than what 12,000 has powered cars emit in a year. GreenMatters sourced from Tree Hugger
Fireworks also negatively impact
The waterways, rivers and lakes that animals and poverse people use to drink from.
People with PTSD, ranging from war veterans, victims of terrorism, and so forth
Native wildlife, especially native avian species who die from adrenaline overdose, stress, heart attack, or from the sheer noise and heat from fireworks
Disabled people with noise sensitivity
Local flora having severe burns or being at risk of causing wildfires.
Damaging human lungs from inhaling micro plastics and smoke
ETC
Statistically speaking
Between 2002 and 2017, 7.25% of people died from a result of fireworks, cracklers, and sparklers in the US
In 2017, nearly 13,000 people went to the hospital from firework related injuries
Fireworks introduce 42 percent more pollutants to the air than on average in a day to day basis
In Los Angeles, after the Fourth Of July, pollution rose up 10 times higher in 2020
Home made fireworks created even more pollution than store bought
Around 28.9% of C02 emissions are from fireworks in the US
While nice to look at, keep in mind the major environmental impact and impact on various people it has

today's niche drama: alpaca farmer beef
i have to talk about this because omg. this post will get long because there is so much and it requires so much background info.
so if you watch a lot of animal videos on youtube you have probably at least been recommended a video from morgan gold of Gold Shaw Farms. basically he is this guy who abandoned his 9-5 city life to move to Vermont and become a duck farmer/egg breeder. (these details are relevant, trust me).
he's been involved in some controversies before (outside general discourse of whether or not farming is even ethical to begin with), most notably for purchasing purebred dogs from apparently disreputable breeders and for allegedly buying livestock guardian dogs without doing the proper research into it first. to summarize key points from his storied farm dog controversies, he bought two purebred maremma sheepdogs to raise as LGDs, one has recurrent genetic health problems and has a history of chasing down and killing the chickens she is guarding. his other dog toby was diagnosed with lyme disease from a tick bite in July 2022, there is some circumstantial evidence to suggest that morgan was not taking his due diligence in protecting the dogs, who have long hair and regular access to grazing fields, from insect bites. also, i don't know where else to mention this, but morgan actually initially bought abby to breed with toby, but decided against it because of abby's temperament issues and health problems. he would later discover that despite abby being purchased from a breeder all the way in california and toby being from vermont, these dogs are so inbred that they are actually each other's genetic cousins. again, please remember that he purchased this dog specifically to breed her.
there was also some drama with abby's breeder, where she accuses him of mistreatment and poor training, and he accuses her of running a puppy mill. both of them make both correct and incorrect points here but abby's breeder kim is more outwardly rude and has her own backstory full of controversy so morgan gains the internet's favour on this one. i refer to this as drama and not controversy because both parties milked the audience engagement it resulted in for all it was worth. this truly was a very serious issue but morgan and kim treated it like a clickbait competition.
fast forward to last year and morgan is now raising highland cattle. you might recall that highland cattle started getting really really popular online last summer, specifically on youtube shorts. to remind you, morgan runs an egg hatchery. he mainly raises and breeds chickens, ducks, and geese. it's not an incredible stretch for him to shift focus to cows, but it's a bit outside his normal sphere. people pretty quickly accused him of exploitation, saying he only purchased the cows for more popularity and questioning whether he had put enough research or training into raising cows. again, morgan went from being a full-time corporate employee to a farmer, so while he has 8 years of experience with birds he does not have much professional experience with other animals and it is not unreasonable to question his level of preparedness. what's interesting to note that i haven't seen pointed out yet is that duck farming was actually on a steady increase in popularity and profitability in the US during the late 2010s. i had a suspicion this might be true, because i unfortunately remember too turnt tony, and the hallmark of an animal's popularity is an influencer making one their schtick. i looked into the numbers and according to the Iowa Farm Bureau, the demand for pet ducks, duck meat and duck byproducts hit a real spike in north america in 2015, one year before morgan gold chose to open a duck farm. not necessarily causation, but definitely a correlation there. (isn't this post about alpacas?? i know. we're getting there.)
it is now 2024, and market researchers have determined that we are currently in a highland cattle farming bubble. in economic terms, that basically means that a shitload of people have recently decided to start farming and breeding them for profit. economic bubbles are sometimes (oftentimes, if we're being honest) artificially produced and inflated, meaning that some government body or lobbyist group went out of their way to advertise something to the general public until it was popular. economics are fake, so i don't have too much detail on the specifics of the current highland cattle bubble other than that it exists and that it is clear to see from what gets pushed to me on social media. what's relevant for this discussion is the fact that this information has lead many people to reignite the accusations against morgan gold. i dont watch his content these days but i found he always had an overly clinical, overly corporate, "city-slicker" approach to farming that painted his animals more as commodities than beings; i think of him as a family vlogger, but his kids are birds. he knows people are just here to see the cute animals from the thumbnails, but he styles his channel as a sort of how-to guide on starting and running your own farm. he discusses his animals as products, yes, but he also places a heavy emphasis on lifestyle and admits he was drawn to a quiet country life and the self-fulfilment of running his own business.
with that out of the way, the alpaca stuff. before the highland cattle bubble, the 2000s and very early 2010s saw the rise and fall of the alpaca bubble. like with any bubble, among the trend-flitters you're bound to have people who are genuinely dedicated to their field of work and do it without real financial motivation. morgan recently reached out to a few members of the alpaca farming community under the pretense of collaborating on a video, comparing the highland cattle bubble to the alpaca bubble and discussing the history as well as the reality of each. to be very clear, the people morgan reached out to for this video are currently alpaca farmers. these are not people who bought into the bubble in the early 2000s, but people who are currently involved in farming and breeding alpacas. again, i have my own opinions about the ethics of farming and breeding, but they're not relevant for right now. what is relevant is that morgan conducted interviews with these people for a video, told them exactly what the video was intended to be about, then went and used them in a completely different video without anyone's knowledge or consent.
morgan released a lengthy, heavily edited video on his second channel decrying the entire alpaca farming industry as a multi-level marketing scheme. i would say his logic is hard to follow but the thing that is difficult to describe is the way he doesn't actually attempt to explain this stance. he covers a lot of ground in the video. some of it is plain misinfo, some of it is just misrepresented, but the interesting thing is that his actual point of focus throughout the video seems to be explaining why alpaca farming might not be very profitable. this is the main point he seems to argue, when he isn't just explaining what an MLM is. also, i mention the heavy editing because a lot of the video's runtime is padded with clips from shows, movies, and interviews, as well as what i can only call anti-alpaca propaganda. videos of alpacas mating, making strange noises, and spitting, with weird mocking voiceover and captions. also, AI generated art of especially ugly-looking alpacas. this is not conjecture. he really generated AI pictures of alpacas that looked grosser than real ones. of the claims he makes about alpaca farming, well, you might notice fairly quickly that a few of them are exactly the same accusations that are being leveled against him. i will get back to this in a second but there is something even weirder.
during this video, and i am not joking, he takes a stance against breeding, against for-profit farming, against commodifying animals and against making seriously huge business decisions based on your own romanticized ideals of certain lifestyles.
i personally disagree with all of these practices, don't get me wrong! commerce is evil and killing our planet. it is not cute that rural areas are desperately underfunded. but this is coming from a for-profit duck breeder, who runs a youtube channel where he commodifies his animals and encourages people to quit their day jobs so they can move to the country to become farmers, which is something that HE did!!! this is like dumbo releasing a statement against being an elephant while he tromps through the circus eating peanuts.
to add to this vibe, he claims that all alpaca farmers buy animals without doing research first and end up mistreating them or in some way harming their development. he claims that most people think alpacas are incredibly lucrative and are only interested in owning them for profit. he claims that alpaca farming is nothing but a breeding chain, that the wool is not actually worth very much and the real money is in simply passing alpacas from one farm to the next to he re-bred and re-sold. these are all things he has personally been accused of. he specifically sells hatching eggs, and does so because selling duck eggs for breeding rather than for food is more profitable. he breeds all his animals and again even had plans to breed his dogs. he has been accused of failing to research consistently since the early days of his channel and has even admitted in the past when he gets in over his head with a new animal (his geese come to mind specifically). he has a habit of buying animals for one purpose or another and then just breeding them. the things he said about alpaca wool being worth basically nothing are not even true and most alpaca farms make WAY more money selling knitwear than baby alpacas. this is true of chicken farms outside of the meat industry whose profits mainly come from breeding.
anyway that was my rant i dont even know how to end this off besides saying isnt this RIDICULOUS

you can help prevent new outbreaks of bird flu by going vegan
Five manmade ecosystems have contributed to modern avian influenza virus ecology: integrated indoor commercial poultry, range-raised commercial poultry, live poultry markets, backyard and hobby flocks, and bird collection and trading systems including cockfighting. Indoor commercial poultry has had the largest impact on the spread of HPAI, with the increase in HPAI outbreaks largely the result of increased commercial production since the 1990s.
From 2014 through 2015, United States poultry and egg producers experienced the largest outbreak of H5N2 in recorded history with approximately 51 million birds depopulated to control the spread of the disease
By the end of 2020, several outbreaks of various bird flus were reported in Europe. Since mid-October several European countries (...) have reported outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) viruses, mostly in wild birds. Positive tests were also among poultry and captive birds. (...) In Germany, 29,000 chickens were killed to halt the spread of H5N8. In Belgium, H5N5 was found on a poultry farm according to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). The outbreak was reported in Menen, near the border with France, and killed 600 birds and the culling of an additional 151,000 chickens from the flock.
Since early 2022, more than 58 million birds in 47 states have died either directly from a bird flu virus infection or been culled (killed) as a result of possible exposure to infected birds. The recent strain has cost the government $661 million with no end to the outbreak in sight despite severe mitigation measures put in place by the industry after the 2015 outbreak. Iowa, the biggest egg producer in the United States, has been the most affected, with almost 16 million birds slaughtered.
In March 2023 Senegal reported an outbreak of the disease on a poultry farm in the village of Potou near the northwestern town of Louga.
All from Wikipedia
Tumblr media
This is really serious due to how small this species’ population size is. You can help stop the spread of bird flu by keeping your own poultry from interacting with other birds, keeping spaces with birds sanitary, and taking down bird feeders in areas of high transmission between wild birds.

Llamageddon!!
If I have to experience this, so do you!
So this is how my day is going:
YouTube is down! How on earth will I have background noise and pretend I’m not lonely now! Eh, let’s see what Prime has, maybe I’ll finish Grand Tour. Ok, scrolling, scrolling… wtf is Llamageddon? “An evil lama from space crash lands on earth and terrorizes college students”. Sounds ridiculous. I could do with a laugh, let’s see how bad this is.
The first segment is a YouTube flash animation quality sequence of a planet of evil llamas, that hatch from eggs(?), building spaceships that look like livestock trailers with wings and flying about in space. One gets separated and crashes through the international space station, ripping it in half before landing somewhere in middle America, I’d guess like, Iowa or something. There’s a flash of lightning that’s animated the same way, and just as I’m wondering if the whole movie will look like this, it cuts to grainy footage of the llama (now in live action) stepping out of its “ship”, which is completely unscathed, and waking out of frame.
Next scene, we got handheld camera footage of a middle aged, around 55 years old, couple hoeing a garden. The quality is terrible, and looks like something from around 2005. When was this made? Lemme see, 2015. Wow. The couple notice the llama that wandered over but don’t give a shit and go to bed. The llama makes its way into the house, with more cuts to the same animated lightning, before killing the two people off camera. The woman screams as a jet of blood splashes across a photo of the two. It’s hilariously bad.
Cut to title screen. Dear god it’s only been four minutes. I’ve paused to either laugh or stare in utter bewilderment twice already.
Next scene, daytime in the field where the llama crashed. The ship is taped off and generic, I dunno, government (?) guys are inspecting the area. There’s a cut to a helicopter shot of the same area. There’s another cut and oh wow, they actually got a helicopter for this scene! It’s not very impressive, but it’s real. Some older guy gets out, takes his sunglasses off while staring out of frame and says “good god,” about as flatly and bored as possible. In the same breath he says “get this taken care of”, or something, I’ve already forgotten, gets back in the helicopter, and flies away. This guy was only in the scene for five seconds, what was the point of that? He didn’t even interact with anyone!
Next scene, “amazing grace” on bagpipes plays as the camera pans, competently to my surprise, smoothly across a graveyard. Then it cuts to a Honda Ridgeline, I think? Whatever their version of the Toyota FJ is, pulling out of it and merging into traffic. Cut to inside and a kid who looks like a cross between pubescent Harrison Ford and that guy I liked in middle school is talking, his face taking up most of the frame. “Why didn’t dad come?” He says, then his sister rolls her eyes and says “it’s not like they were his parents, why would he be here?” “I don’t care he should have been there! What was he doing instead anyway?” Then it abruptly cuts to an extreme close up of knockoff cristopher Lloyds face, mouth agape and panting. Cut to a new angle and he’s banging someone who’s young enough to be his daughter. Cut back to the car. Sister takes off her “depressing funeral dress” and inexplicably has a regular t shirt and jeans on underneath it? The fuck?
Then we find out that the couple killed off in the beginning were these kids grandparents? But the mom in the car looks almost 50 herself! Because movie, the kids are staying alone in their grandparents home. Typical “no parties!”, mom leaves, sister calls everyone she knows to throw a party, brother whines that she shouldn’t and he’s gonna tell mom, sequence plays out. Also typical “sister is a bitch” I’m broken because my parents got divorced schlock happens. Ok, the sister is supposed to be in college, I can buy that. The brother though, he looks like he’s in high school but acts like a 12 year old. How old is he supposed to be? The mom says something about him wetting the bed while the camera is uncomfortably close to her fish-eye-lensed face, which then cuts to the same bizarre close up up the two kids. And there’s mild voice distortion?? The fuck is happening!
Scene cuts and Brother is wandering around the property, still in his funeral clothes, when he sees the llama. Neither react to each other, then it cuts away to the crash site again. More generic guys mill about and two “doctors” are talking in the foreground. One says to the other “well, what do you make of it?” And he says “I think I’m getting too old for this shit.”
Im only 13 minutes into this mess!
This is where I had to pause it again and write this up. Hoho boyo, this needs to be documented. Ive laughed so loud it’s started the dog twice now, and none of it is intentionally funny. This screams “birdemic” at me, and it’s so terrible. But, because I hate myself and there’s literally nothing else for me to do right now, I’ll finish this out.

The wiki article is fucking wild
Chuck was later replaced by his granddaughter, Charlotte, for the first Groundhog Day ceremony held during the mayoralty of Bill de Blasio. During that ceremony held on February 2, 2014, de Blasio dropped Charlotte onto the ground in front of "shocked schoolchildren".[6][7][8] Charlotte died February 9, 2014, although the Staten Island Zoo did not make this fact public until several months later.[9] According to the New York Post, a necropsy attributed Charlotte's death to "acute internal injuries" consistent with a fall.[10] Despite accusations of a coverup and reports that De Blasio had killed the groundhog, the zoo initially claimed that the animal died of natural causes, and later took the position that it was "unlikely" that Charlotte's death was caused by the fall.[11][12]
Chuck's daughter, Charlotte Jr., served as a stand-in for him at Groundhog Day 2015.[10] On February 2, 2015, this female "Staten Island Chuck" walked out of a hutch that an elevator had lifted onto the stage of a portable Plexiglas habitat, while de Blasio watched from six feet (1.8 m) away.[13][14] De Blasio did not attend the 2016 ceremonies, as he was in Iowa campaigning for Hillary Clinton's Presidential bid; Lieutenant Governor of New York Kathy Hochul officiated the groundhog ceremony in de Blasio's stead.[15][16] He likewise did not attend the ceremony from 2017 to 2019,[17][18][19] and in 2020 confirmed that he has no plans to ever return to the Groundhog Day Ceremony at the Staten Island Zoo: "I tried it, it didn't end well, I won't be back," de Blasio sai
