the skyrim house is inching closer to done every day now. just gotta fix some weird bugs

1. Exactly One (1) mannequin out of like 15 is still doing the weeping angels bit and moving every time its not visible on screen and nothing ive tried seems to fix it, even though the others seem fine. fucker even verbally greeted me once and i didnt even think they were set up to talk???? it scared the shit out of me and if it does it again im deleting the whole house, its too cursed. maybe even the whole game.

2. you can put volendrung and dawnbreaker in their respective displays exactly once. if you take them out and try to put them back in it tells you you lack them in your inventory. these seem to be the only 2 weapons that happens to

3. you can put the dragon claws in their displays and then you can never take them out again. except the gold claw. that one's fine.

4. the lighting still sucks ass. im trying to strike a balance between "its dark as fuck in here" candlelights-only and "where the fuck is all this light actually coming from". current plan is to just stick more lamps everwhere.

5. followers will go down stairs and do normal follower things but if you dismiss them they freeze in place until you rerecruit them.

6. i wanna see if i can turn the bath down stairs into another fish tank because i think that would be fun. dont think about the water being too hot, that salmon survived living in your pocket for like 3 months before you put it in a tank anyway. its fine.

Cleaning out my drive and found some of these old pieces, some posted onto my old Instagram, most not, one from a school field trip.

So while discussing the grand trifecta of Weirdly Good Animated Films From The 2000s (El Dorado, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Treasure Planet) was uh. Was anyone gonna tell me that there was a fourth? A lost sibling. A prodigal son, if you will???? was anyone gonna tell me about Titan AE or was I going to have to find out about it from a RANDOM PINTEREST PIN??

Listen to me. YALL. It’s so good. What the heck. It’s so good?! The plot is surprisingly decent, the animation slaps, theres significantly more violence than I expected and it honestly makes the film better. Animated films usually suffer from the ‘we want this to make it past the censors and be good for kids’ mentality and this one, despite being pg somehow, doesn’t. Several people are shot (yes including blood) and someone gets their neck broken ON SCREEN. The ship fights are incredible and there are a few sequences I genuinely don’t think could have been done in any other medium. The romance is definitely simple, based largely on mutual attraction, but they go out of their way to show them growing as friends and working together. The side characters are fun and the WORLDBUILDING??? The number of times something happened in the film and I thought ‘holy crap, I can’t believe they thought of that’ was insane. Character’s remembering in a panic to exhale before spending a few seconds in the vaccine of space, blood floating around in zero-gravity, characters navigating spaces sideways because they’re designed for use when thrust is coming from a different direction, the main character slowly figuring out how the bad guys worked and using that knowledge to defeat them, some of the music in the film being diagetic in-world music played over comms, surprisingly respectful racial diversity for a movie made in 2000, literally everything was incredible.

Also everyone is hot. That’s definitely a plus. It’s like if you took the aesthetic of Treasure Planet and crossed it with Atlantis’s plot. I know there’s a better comparison here but I’m unfortunately not very well versed in sci-fi media. I’m genuinely impressed. I usually don’t immediately turn around and want to rewatch stuff like that but I’d absolutely watch that again. 10/10 everyone should watch this movie; I’m infuriated that it flopped even worse than the other three and I only just now watched it.

Sports Themed BL Dramas

In honor of the Olympics, I saw someone make a sports themed Anime rec list and decided I could do that for my fellow QL watchers out there (I promise I'm not using QL and BL interchangeably).

The Rebound (Thailand)

Freshly completed. The Rebound is a basketball centered series. Ryu and Zen are both basketball all-stars and used to be each other's rocks on the court in middle school. Fast forward to high school and Zen is trying to put together a new team under a new coach and Ryu is somewhere in the streets playing illegal and highstakes street basketball. Watch Zen re-recruit Ryu back onto the team and back into his life while they both deal with homelife struggles, keeping the basketball team afloat, Ryu's mafia ties, and love rivals.

You're My Sky (Thailand)

This is a multi-sports BL with 3 couples. Follow Fah and Torn as they reunite in college and join the same basketball team and work to repair the damaged relationship and also make their basketball dreams come true. Join freshman soccer star Saen as he juggles his sport and pursuit of his intellectual senior Aii and also taking time out of his day to give Torn love advice. And the last pair features two track stars Dome and Vee who struggle with their growing attraction to each other while Dome is actively dating Vee's sister Pan. This series is all about love and sports.

History 2: Crossing the Line (Taiwan)

This is a high school volleyball bl that focuses on retired player turned manager Qiu Zi Xuan and reluctant newcomer Hsia Yu Hao. Zi Xuan splits his time with training his team and teaching Yu Hao the essentials of the game so he'll be ready in time to compete. What happens when Yu Hao's annoyance for Zi Xuan fades and he begins to catch feelings for the school senior? And how will Zi Xuan deal with a sudden new love interest when his first love has always been volleyball...not to mention his baby sister has a huge crush on Yu Hao. There is a side pairing that features step brother who have an interesting history involving a kidnapping.

Between Us the Series (Thailand)

Okay so this series isn't technically sports-themed but there's a lot of sport in it. 3rd year uni student Win is VP of the swim team and the team has just recruited freshman Team. Win and Team are both very serious about their sport but Team does struggle because of some past swimming related trauma from his childhood. Win takes an immediate interest in Team so he gives him extra special attention outside of the team and soon they begin a sexual relationship (immediately actually). Team soon finds that being with Win helps him sleep peacefully at night so he begins to sleep over in his dorm. They both establish a bond but can't quite slap a label on with Win's commitment issues and Team's trauma. (There's more swimming in Between Us' parent drama Until We Meet Again). There are quite a few side pairing in this series.

Love By Chance (Thailand)

Again this series isn't sports themed but there's a lot of sport in it. This series follows uni freshman Ae and who has just joined the school's soccer team. He's an honest and simple guy who isn't afraid to speak his mind or stand his ground. He meets another freshman named Pete who opposite of him in personality, a quiet and shy guy who speaks politely to everyone. Ae feels the need to protect Pete because he finds Pete to be the delicate type and he doesn't want anyone to take advantage of Pete. Ae splits all his time between Pete and soccer. The second couple also follows another member of the soccer team named Can who gets into it with one of Pete's classmates named Tin. Tin and Can but heads every time they see each other but Tin's hatred for Can soon evolves into interest. Half of the cast in this series is on Ae and Can's soccer team so they spend a lot of time on the soccer field. The other two side pairs are there but I'm not gonna lie I skip them.

The Eighth Sense (South Korea)

This series follows freshman uni student Kim Jihyun who joins the school surfing club because he's looking to branch out but really because he met a cute guy named Seo Jaewon at his job and discovered he was in the surfing club. This series follows Jaewon and Jihyun through club surfing escapades and their instant and growing interest in each other. Jaewon's traumatic past does weigh heavy on his life and he allows the people around him to take advantage of him but Jihyun is there as a beacon of light for him, leading him out of the darkness and into a bright future together for both of them.

Honorable Mentions and one Dishonorable Mention to:

Pit Babe the Series (Thailand). which is a series centered around racecar drivers in an omega universe but I don't think that's an Olympic sport. PB is still very much a sports-themed series but there's also a lot of like...kidnapping, murder, mind control, and apparent mpreg going on in that series. The main pairing is alpha for alpha! Def a great watch.

Love Mechanics (Thailand). Features two swimmers as the mains but their plot is mostly about cheating and lying more than anything else. Sure there's swimming but it's not like that important to the series. Mark has a crush on his senior but that senior already likes someone else and Vee swoops in and sleeps with Mark and then they begin a side romance while Vee refuses to break up with his girlfriend even though she's cheating on him and he knows it. He's got quite a few hang ups and Mark just can't seem to leave that man alone. It's not my favorite series but it's not a bad series, it's quite good and YinWar are amazing but I just wanted to fight Vee more than anything else lol.

Waterboyy the Series (Thailand). This series is very much sports themed and follows two university swimmers on a swim team but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Waii is the swim team's all-star and Apo is a newcomer on the scene who seems to be the only one who matches Waii. Unfortunately Waii is very much an asshole to everyone and he and Apo are quite dysfunctional. Also there's a sideplot where a canon lesbian character "realizes she's straight" typa vibe and also Waii's father gets into a realtionship with Waii's old best friend (it's very weird). The overall tone of the series is not a vibe but hey if you're interested in seeing New Thitipoom and Earth Pirapat as a ship then go for it.

My Head Is An Animal

Johnny’s career is rapidly expanding.

The art fair had helped make Johnny excited about making art again. That, combined with the compliments you had so freely given to him yesterday and a new round of about twenty orders has him ecstatic about maintaining his storefront.

Enough time has elapsed that the first person who made the first order Johnny ever shipped had written a review- perhaps making it fancier than it needed to be when they saw how barren Johnny’s Etsy page was, but that didn’t exactly matter. Not when they had raved about how you could feel emotions behind every pen stroke! Or how they went and bought a frame for the small piece of paper! Or how it was probably hung in the reviewer’s art gallery!

It was nearly enough to make Johnny print the review out and paste it on a wall somewhere if he was being honest.

The Etsy soon turns into a TikTok page he pesters Simon into helping him set up once the storefront has gained enough traction to warrant it.

Things happen, and somehow the TikTok account gains half a million followers. Somehow, someway, Johnny finds himself in a community within Tiktok. It happens suddenly with duets and slideshows(Simon thinks, at least). Still, Johnny is soon reporting back about online friends, art trades, and after a while, being invited to local art fairs after being sniffed out by organizers, even.

Johnny is very much excited. He’s getting busier and busier, and though Simon doesn’t enjoy his time away from home, it is good for both of them, he thinks. Something to focus on. And brings back a decent amount of money, too.

You’re obviously invited to the art fairs Johnny gets stalls at. Johnny’s always over the moon to see you and sneaks free trinkets- like a bookmark or postcard- into your bag when he’s sure you’re not looking. Of course, this earns him a stern talking to when you notice, but your worries are easily quarried by puppy eyes and matching pout; “but Ae wanted to give you sa’thing, bon?”, he’s said before, and it doesn’t take very long for your resolve to crumble again. Sure, you could have argued that you could have bought it yourself, but you know that would only be matched with an offended glare from Johnny.

Truth be told, Johnny’s becoming really rather fond of you. Simon as well- such as when you had come to the third art fair Johnny showed at and had gotten lost after leaving Johnny’s booth. You’d gotten turned around a lot and were just about to ask someone when Simon caught your shoulder. He had called you a few times and when you didn’t answer, he went to find you. He corrals you back with the gentleness a shepherd must have with a lamb.

You’re starting to notice that Johnny has really started to take off. He’s gone to café’s and art podcasts and presentations at colleges and now cons and he has even been invited onto live stream with other art content creators on TikTok that he can now solidly call his friends. He gets along with them well and is even able to make meaningful friendships. For example, he meets a man who makes beautiful knitted mixed media work named Sammy who’s nothing short of a sweetheart to Johnny, talking to him via DMS and supplying him with inspiration when he gets stuck in a mood. Sammy is there, talking to him in his silly American accent and showing him the new knitted beanie he made out of recycled plastic bags for his 60-pound Maine Coon cat.

Then there’s Gloria, a cross stitcher. She’s well into her years, with her TikTok account being run by her great-grandson who kept her young with his quips and jokes. She quickly establishes herself by cursing like a sailor when her grandson jokingly insults her works from over the years. She also makes quite a few phallic pieces which, to no one’s surprise, the grandson rather likes. She’s so charming to Johnny because she sort of feels like his grandmammy.

Gloria reassures and encourages Johnny about his artwork over calls, which her great-grandson sets up and orchestrates because there's no way Gloria’s little arthritis-stricken claws would be able to navigate modern technology.

Simon likes his new online friends, too. Simon has become a staple in Johnny’s fanbase’s culture and his livestreams, oftentimes poking in to say hi or leave a coffee while Johnny draws on stream. He becomes prominent; it's easy to say that his fanbase adores the two of them especially when they get to hear their backstory, learning about how they met. It's enough to make him even more endearing to the public eye.

Life’s going awesome for him. He’s been going to art fairs in the area every other week, and even though fall is rapidly approaching, he's never been in better spirits. The cool weather usually means Johnny stops making art for a while because the warm weather helps keep him springy and stops his bad elbow joints from aching terribly. Now, he feels more than willing to tough it out.

Life just gets better when a rather large creator on the platform, someone named Jessica Johnson, invites him to an ‘ArtTok Conference’ about 50 miles away from Johnny and Simon’s flat in Manchester, so they plan to pack themselves up for the week with the dog. The venue itself is beautiful, all natural light, sleek marble and wood, and Johnny’s there to talk on a few panels to fans and do some live art as an installation; he’s going to be paid for his work, to just sit down in the gardens of the venue with Riley and do his art stuff while people walk around and observe and enjoy his art. He’d do it for free, honestly.

After he accepts the offer, he starts packing after he tells you, and it’s the happiest you’ve ever seen him. His cheeks are glowing and his smile lines have just become more defined as he's grown with his online career. When he announces that he’ll be at the con later that month, his Etsy shop completely sells out.

When the conference starts, Simon is attentive, caring and comforting. When Johnny gets ready for the first panel, Simon helps him steam the shirt he's gonna wear on the panel. When Johnny is signing prints at an M&G and his pen suddenly craps out, Simon’s there with an extra. When Johnny does his first day of sitting in the gardens and drawing, Simon stays with him, just standing there until one of the staff members brings him a chair. At the end of the first day, when Johnny face plants into the hotel room’s bed, Simon is quick to work out the knots from Johnny’s back. 

Johnny, if he’s being honest, is still a little sad that you weren’t able to make it, what with it being held in the middle of the work week and being an hour’s drive. You’re apologetic, of course, but he knows better than to be hurt terribly.  He feels better when you leave comments on all of the clips that he posts on his TikTok, and you still text whenever you can. He’s happy to be at the con and he’s thoroughly enjoying it, too. Simon’s like his own support system, leaving the conference building for coffee and bagels, and during the con, he’s like his own attraction at Johnny’s stall. People who don’t know Johnny are allured over by the six-foot-something man with the happiest-looking service dog ever and usually end up buying one of the many prints of Riley Johnny has done before.

Later in the week, he gets a panel all to himself where he talks about his charcoal art and how he made his style. Surprisingly, there’s a large turnout. He thought that nobody would want to listen to him ramble about the art he’s been making since high school or, even less, talk to him about his art. After the panel and a lengthy M&G, he starts planning when he’s going to release more things on his Etsy shop, just from how many of his prints he signed in less than three hours. In the time he has between panels and his live art installation, he finds himself doing thumbnails, just as an outlet for all the excess creative energy he has. It’s so fulfilling to see something he’s only ever seen something as a hobby grow into a whole community of his own, grow into a career and a plausible one at that.

Still, like all good things, the con comes to an end. He finishes the live art installation and then he and Simon say their goodbyes before making their way back home. Back to you.

In the space between, everything moves on in a peaceful sort of bliss. He’s restocking the Etsy regularly now, because of how much demand has ramped up. The art fairs are slowing as the cool weather sets in and he goes to his last one right as you get some free time, so it’s perfect timing for a little catch-up outing.

You get dinner at the art fair together, eating traditionally made pasta dyed colourful colours by plants while Johnny tells you everything about his time at the con. It just makes you sad that you missed it, just from how *happy* he sounds from the… Well, everything. He shows you pictures with fans and the highlight reels said fans made of his panels and endearing videos littered over his TikTok feed. You’re fully caught up in no time.

You’ve just finished dinner when Johnny gets the invitation. Johnny looks down at his phone while both you and Simon are engaged in conversation while he stares down at his screen. Then he gasps; loud and cartoonish.

“Ae- Ae go’ invited to a residency! In a gallery! Holy *hells*-“ he says, before a long and very animated string of curses as he finishes the email.

“Residency?” Simon asks.

“Gallery?” You ask.

“Yes!” Johnny says. “Oh, bleedin’ Mary. Look!” He says before he shoves his phone screen in your face, before passing it to Simon.

And, for the first time ever, you hear Simon laugh. It’s husky, like a smoker’s, but it’s endearing in a way. He wraps his arms around Johnny’s shoulders and kisses his temples.

“Yeah, I think this counts for another.” He says, flagging down the waiters for another round of drinks.
