How to read a natal chart in 13 steps.
This is simplified guide geared towards beginners and people who want to transition to a more traditional approach when assessing a chart. There is no standard method of reading charts, this is simply the method I follow & find most comfortable. It’s a practical, methodical synthesis and just the right amount of intuitive.
Before I begin, I must mention that while assessing planetary conditions I personally verify the following factors — in this order: the sign, house, angularity, direction, whether a planet is direct or retrograde, sect (day vs night), hemisphere (1-6 vs 7-12), phase (morning vs evening, especially notable for venus & mercury), domicile lord (draw a disposition tree if needed), exaltation lord, triplicity lords, bound lord, decan lord, dodecatemoria, aspects to domicile lord if any, aspect to the ascendant if any, apsects to other planets, bonification conditions (i.e aspecting benefics, so supported by aspect), maltreatment conditions (aspected by malefics). This is important to remember because the term “conditions” will come up a lot.
Now onto the actual guide :
1. For starters, you should (assuming you don’t already) learn how to read a whole sign house circle chart. Table charts are nice as a gateway drug, but if you're somewhat serious about learning astrology this is an important transition to make. Once you do, put the chart you’re aiming to assess in front of you, then proceed further.
2. Determine the sect of the chart. This becomes an automatism once you’re used to looking at charts, but if you're not there yet — draw a line on the chart (or visualize said line) going from the degree of the ascendant to the degree of the descendant. If the sun is ABOVE that line — it’s a day chart, so of the day sect. If it’s BELOW that line — it’s a night chart, of the night sect.
3. Take a look at the ascendant. Take note of the rising sign, its modality, & its ruling planet. Does this chart have any 1st house planets? Also, remember to do a quick overview to pinpoint which planets are angular (as in, located in the 1/4/7/10th houses)
4. Track down the ascendant ruler. Check its house placement, condition (see above), and aspects (applying vs separating).
5. Track down the Sect Light. If it’s a day chart, the sect light is the Sun. If it’s a night chart, that would be the Moon. Assess the sect light’s condition (see above), aspects.
6. Check which houses are ruled by the Luminaries (Sun/Moon). The interpretation of the luminaries is intrinsic to the areas of life (Houses) they rule, in addition to their independent significations.
7. Check out the phase of moon at birth. The lunation phase is extremely important as it defines the dynamic between this individual’s luminaries.
8. Take a look at how Mercury is doing in said chart. Condition (see above)? Aspects? Morning or Evening star?
9. Take a look at the Benefic Of Sect & Malefic Out Of Sect (day: Jupiter/Mars, night: Venus/Saturn). Assess their condition (see above), aspects they make, etc. Regarding Venus: verify if she’s Morning or Evening star (if Venus is on the right of the Sun - Morning star, if it's on its left - Evening star). For the Malefic OOC, check if it is bonified by enclosure (i.e : Saturn or Mars are touched by a benefic (Venus/Jupiter) on each sides) — it’s a huge alleviating factor.
10. Then, assess the Benefic Out Of Sect & Malefic Of Sect (day: Venus/Saturn, night: Jupiter/Mars).
11. Then, take a global look seeking anything that may be of note. Stelliums, several retrograde planets, a Cazimi, Out Of Bounds planets, a void moon, etc.
12. Lastly, I go through each house individually. This is where the chart synthesis proper begins. In practice, I like to tell a story beginning from the 1st house & culminating in the 12th, while highlighting the thematics of each house as I go.
13. This is optional, but I like to take a look at annual and monthly profections to see which themes are presently highlighted/emphasized for the individual whose chart I’m looking at.
And we’re done.

My own Mudblood CH6
This is my favourite part so far. A little hurt/comfort fluff and also smuttt ~ hope you love it
Every page you read was more intense than the last. You had figured witchcraft was not all potions and charms, but as you read the pages of the heavy book that Draco had lent you, you realised just how serious it could all be. Again your mind replayed the shake in his voice the day before as he stressed the unimportance of the spells you were practising - how they were no use, in the position he would have been in the year before you guessed. Behind his domineering and sarcastic tone you knew there was a scar likely made long before the war. Long before the dark lord recruited him. You didn’t have to read much on the Malfoys to know what kind of person, what kind of father Lucius would have been. No one seemed to want to bring his name up in the house, even the portraits on his library's wall were tight lipped about it even being his room when you had snuck in there. Narcissa seemed kind for a woman of her wealth and notoriety, and seemed to adore her son. When she wasn’t bragging about his accomplishments or looks, she was treating him as though he was the heir to a royal - which, you thought, he just about was in this world. He was her prize possession, her darling son. He can’t have become so damaged, so quick to to anger or righteous from his Mother’s love alone. You knew his father, and his place in Voldemort’s army must have left wounds you likely would never know completely. But you didn’t just want to know his wounds - you wanted to lick them clean. What Lucious must have put him through may be somewhat of a mystery to you, but the ache you felt in the way you never measured up to your fathers’ expectations, of never being what they wanted of you, you felt you shared with him. Though you hadn’t spilled even a single word to each other about it, you knew in that way, you were family.
As you read on, your eyes fell toward a spell you thought could be useful.
Stupefy - This spell will stun the target, and though this will not cause irreversible damage, it will temporarily render the target incapacitated.
You started to feel hopeful that in the large book of frankly terrifying spells, there were some you felt you were more comfortable in trying, and that Draco would hopefully not look down at you for bothering with. This was far beyond what you had expected your first week living with your father to be like. It was a worrying prospect that your first chance in practising this spell would be against Voldemort’s youngest hand days after learning your first spell, but you were determined not to let your anxiety ruin your first chance at a duel. You studied the chapter on the spell intently, taking mental notes and reading aloud to yourself.
You took note of a handful more spells after calculating their effectiveness and how much they would injure Draco. You had no doubt that he would have the ability to heal himself of most wounds inflicted by a beginner witch, but you didn’t want to overstep and cause the type of damage that Narcissa would curse you for causing her beloved heir. Besides, his seemingly untouched face, though forever donning a wrinkle between his furrowed brow, was far too angular and pretty to want to scar. You recalled wanting to hurt him the first days in the Manor, and he still managed to bring that anger out in you, but it would be a shame to ever have to carry out.
You had gotten into one fight in your life. Nothing compared to the fights that your stepbrother had fought, but you still remembered the crack of your fist to the face of a boy in your grade. The combined horror of what you had done and the pride you had felt in finally finding your backbone wasn’t lost to you all these years later. You hadn’t felt that anger bubble up at anyone but your father until you moved to the Manor. His continued ignorance to anything you did or felt under the same roof as your arrogant step-brother felt all too much. That was until he had spoken for you that night at dinner. Suddenly one of your battles fought the other. He hadn’t given you the time to think on it before his soothing touch became a teasing one, but now that you were alone, a strange feeling rose in your chest at the memory. Did he care about you, or was it a chance for him to exercise his dominance over an intruder in his home? It wasn’t something you could exactly ask him. He would either laugh in your face or ignore you all together - but overthinking it, mulling it over mentally until you sent yourself mad was not out of the question. He had such a way of stoking one fire and snuffing out another. He burned a flame in your stomach, and poured ice cold relief over the one in your mind. Whether it was for you or for his own sense of accomplishment and superiority you weren’t sure. You decided you’d take it either way. Without your friends or school to distract you anymore, the hollow pit in your chest would only grow if you didn’t take advantage of the comfort and company he provided, even if it wasn’t his intention.
-
A couple hours had crept by reading into spells and charms when you were interrupted by murmuring and giggles in the hall outside your room. You turned to see your Father and Narcissa embracing and you cringed at their closeness.
“Your father and I are visiting Italy for the weekend, love,” She said with a smile stretched across her face.
“But, you didn’t - what am I supposed to -” you started but she cut you off before you could argue.
“Don’t worry dear, Draco will take good care of you and the house elf will keep you fed.” Your face reddened and you felt left out once again. Of course Draco already knew before you were told anything. “Draco will take good care of you” you snickered mentally. He did that just fine last night. You had all but collapsed on him after he had done just that. You felt a flutter in your lower stomach at the memory.
They held a trunk each, dressed like they were going to meet the royal family. You figured it had something to do with their wedding planning, which you had intentionally avoided thinking about. You looked at your father, who was already staring back with a raised brow.
“You behave yourself, and be nice to Draco. Remember this is his house, you are just lucky enough to share it,” He warned and you scoffed in response. Share it? You were dragged here, you thought.
You said your brief and rudely last minute goodbyes and they left through floo in a whoosh.
You bit down the all too familiar feeling of emptiness and longing, your father leaving without an “I love you” for the umpteenth time. With eyes welling against your will, you made your way to the room beside yours, book and wand in hand. You knocked quietly, hoping he was up to the duel he had told you about. At least an extremely unqualified try and spells behind your expertise may distract from the hole in your heart your father has pried open once again. Wiping your eyes and taking a deep breath, you buried the feeling deep down as you had done time and time over.
You heard a groan and some rustling in the room before he opened it. You almost dropped your belongings as the tall boy before you stood only in boxers, hanging loosely below his hip bones. You couldn’t help your gaze trace down from his face to his chiselled chest and abdomen. The scars that peppered his skin added a layer of ruggedness to him that you still hadn’t gotten used to. As you looked up to finally meet his gaze, he smirked at you. Though you had shared more intimate moments with him in the last week than you had with anyone ever before, you still felt shy around him and cursed yourself for being caught staring.
“Are you quite done ogling?” He teased.
“I wasn’t ogling, you prat! I was just..” you trailed off, not convincing anyone, even yourself.
He huffed out a quiet laugh, looking down at you. He noticed the book and wand in your hand and looked back to your face with a raised brow.
“Finished studying already?” He asked, taking the book from you. You knew there was far more to read of it but you were at least half sure you had read as much as you needed for today.
“Uh yeah. I think so.”
“You think so? Does “thinking so” protect you if you’re attacked hmm?” He pressed and you knew fighting it wouldn’t be worth the mood it would put him in.
“No Draco, I don’t. But this is my first dueling practice and you’re gonna go easy on me aren’t you?” You asked with a devilish innocent, but deep down you did hope he would.
“You need to learn to protect yourself. What did you study?”
“It’s a surprise. But no hexes or curses. I don’t want to hurt you,” you said genuinely. His laugh bellowed through the room and you felt yourself shrink to half your size.
“You couldn’t hurt me if you tried. You’re cute though,” he said as he turned to walk back into his room. You followed him in as he placed the book back with the rest. You looked around the room, taking it all in. His bed was large like yours, but with black silk covers, with deep green trim along the edges. The bed head was large and engraved with a snake, with snakes also wrapping around the posts at the foot of the bed. There were trophies lining a shelf on the wall and you walked up to inspect it. He had won them for something called Quidditch, and you wondered what it was. Whatever it was, you assumed he was good at that too, but saved yourself the speech and didn’t ask.
He had long velvet curtains over the Windows that overlooked the hedge maze and lavish gardens in the courtyard outside. Though you had the same view from your room, you had hidden away and wallowed for days and never took it all in, or bothered to explore outside the manor. The property was unnecessarily big, and it would have been worth taking a walk outside rather than sulk in your room, you decided. His room alone was immensely extravagant. He had a walk in closet the size of your room back home, lined with black suit after black suit after yet another. He had a library of books lining the book case against the wall, and what seemed to be potion vials and a cauldron on his otherwise neat desk.
“We’ll be duelling outside. You’ll need something warm,”
You had packed your own jumpers but you accepted his silent offer. He gave you the jumper thrown in his bed, and shrugged on another from the closet himself. You pulled it over your head and his expensive scent engulfed you. You hid the smile you felt, as the jumper fell almost to your knees. You’d never had a boyfriend to give you their jumpers like your friends had, and though this was far from a boyfriend situation, something in you felt you had finally experienced what you’d always watched other girls have.
The courtyard outside was massive, with large hedges around the perimeter, and a paved walkway to a comically large yard. Even the grass felt expensive as you followed Draco out to the middle. Every step you took sent your heart rate up higher. When Draco turned to face you, he sensed your nerves.
“Nervous Mudblood?” He teased, but his face was pulled into a worried frown. Though you could feel your heart drumming in your ears, you gave him a confident smile, shaking your head. He saw right through you and rustled your hair in his hand.
“You’ll be right. You won’t beat me, but you’ll be right.”
He lifted his wand to face hight before dropping it back down and taking several steps back. You had no idea what you were doing and that was becoming increasingly apparent, but you did the same. As he pointed his wand at you, you ignored the sweaty palms holding your wand and mirrored his actions.
He started to count down from three,
“Three.” You could feel your chest tighten around your thrumming heart.
“Two,” his words sounded so far away compared to your own heart beat loud in your ear.
“One,” you pushed all the symptoms of an impending anxiety attack away and tried to remember the spells you had studied.
He threw his first spell at you before you could even open your mouth. You weren’t sure if he even said it out loud. The wind was knocked out of your lungs and you were sent flying through the air, tumbling around before you landed on your back on the soft grass. You coughed and groaned, rubbing your back. As he stepped closer to make sure you were alright, you leaped back to your feet. You weren’t going to let him beat you, at least not without at least trying. You pointed your wand back at him, and said the first spell you could remember from the book.
“Obscuro!” You yelled, temporarily blinding him. Before he knew what had hit him, you yelled another with as much confidence as you could muster,
“Expelliarmus.” Light shot out of your wand toward him and he flew back, dropping his wand in the process. Nothing could have prepared you for the comfidence, the pride and long awaited reassurance that bubbled up in your chest. Nothing in your life had ever made you feel like you were living up to your potential, like you were on the right path. You almost felt bad for Draco, being disarmed so early on, by you of all people, but it didn’t outway the smug pride that you felt, knowing you were capable of it. He had already reversed the blind fold you had magically put on him and he had started to sit up when you got to him. You held your hand out to help him up, but he grabbed it and pulled you down to him.
“Didn’t know you had it in you,” he said surprised and you blushed without a word. “And here I thought you’d try to use those blasted levitation spells on me,” he teased and you couldn’t help but laugh. He pulled you you closer and you straddled him, holding yourself up with a hand either side of him. Looking down at his face, you noticed a small cut on his tall cheekbone. You winced at the thought that you had hurt him, even in a duel. He wiped his finger over it and wiped the small spot of blood on his crisp white shirt like it cost nothing.
“I’m so sorry, I promise I was trying to only use spells that wouldn’t hurt. I was just tryi-“
He cut you off by pecking your lips. You weren’t expecting the sudden contact but he gripped the back of your head, deepening the kiss. You melted into him like you had craved him for a lifetime. He pulled you closer until your body went from hovering over him, to softly grinding against him. You moaned against his lips as you felt him harden against his pants. Suddenly, you remembered how public this was happening, how large the courtyard was. You had felt hidden the times before, as he’d kissed you against the wall of your bedroom, even his hand under the table at dinner. But here, he was kissing you like he owned you in the open of his back yard. You pulled away and tried to open your mouth to stop but he pulled you back down to him, kissing you passionately again. His tongue slipped between your lips and licked softly at your own. His hands roamed over your back before they settled at your hips. He pressed his fingers into them hard enough to bruise, and you whimpered into his mouth. He flipped you over so you were trapped under his body before pressing his leg between your thighs, causing you to let out another moan at the pressure. Though you knew that no one but the house elf was home, as he started to unbutton your shorts, you tried to stop him. He stared down into you with lust filled eyes and kept going. He dragged them down your soft legs before unbuckling his belt. He continued to kiss you, more roughly this time, before peppering sloppy kisses along your jawline and down your neck. The wet kisses and cool air felt like heaven on your skin.
You heard him undo the zip on his pants and the sound of him shoving them down with his boxers. Before you could even look down, you felt his hard cock rub the length of you, wiping your own slick over him.
“You’re always so wet for me aren’t you? Can’t help yourself,” he said with a smirk. He tapped it against your clit and you whimpered at the pleasure that rippled through you from your sensitive bud.
You had never gone this far with anyone, and never in your life did you imagine your first time would be outside, far less with your step brother you had only just met a week ago. The excitement and blind lust you felt fought with the reality of the situation. If you stopped him, or if you didn’t, you were fucked either way. You looked up into his intense grey eyes that were darkening by the minute.
“Draco. This is so wrong .. we can’t.. I’ve never even…”
“Tell me to stop then. Say the word and I’ll stop,” he breathed in your ear. He kept his impossibly large cock in his hand, still rubbing it against your clit. You knew you should tell him to stop, but you couldn’t. You were too far gone and you knew he was too. Instead, you wrapped your hands around his back, pulling him closer and spreading your legs for him. He pushed in half way slowly, and you felt yourself stretch around him, sending a new kind of pleasure through you. Though the pain wasn’t unbearable, it was apparent and you bit down on your lip. You had used your fingers before but this was new. He noticed you wince and kissed your forehead.
“Shhh I’ll go easy on you, I know this is new for you,” he reassured with a voice softer than he had ever shown you before. He pulled out almost completely and pushed further into you the second time, bottoming out. He let out a pleasured groan against your neck and looked into your eyes. Yours almost rolled to the back of your head as you felt him push in and out. “Fuck Draco my god sso good” you moaned out.
“That’s right. You need me don’t you?” You nodded, unable to form a sentence if you tried. “You need me to teach you. You need me to own you.” His low gravelly voice sent shivers down your spine as he started to pump in and out of you. He felt so good that you couldn’t help the unholy sounds coming from you already. Aware that you were outside and not in a muffled room, you bit down on his shoulder as he fucked you. Even he couldn’t contain the moans and pants that escaped his lips as he pulled out til only the tip breached you before crashing back down into you.
“Tell me,” pants, “tell me what you are. Tell me who you belong to,” he groaned as your nails scraped down his back. He held your face with one hand and rubbed circles over your clit with the other. You felt the pressure built in the pit of your stomach and you knew you were close.
“I’m yours Draco. Your filthy little mudblood,” you almost screamed. You couldn’t believe the words tumbling from your mouth but you didn’t care either. Something so wrong had never felt so right. His thrust became more erratic and his pants harder.
“Mmm that’s right baby. You’re mine. My own mudblood,” he whispered in your ear. His. His own mudblood. The word sent shivers down your spine and this time, the word wasn’t an insult. It was a prayer from his perfect pink lips. You felt him throb and twitch inside you, sending you over the edge. Your back arched off the grass and you tightened hard around his cock, as the biggest orgasm you had ever had ripped through you like a tsunami. The feeling of you tightening and twitching around him was too much for him. He let out a guttural, heavy moan against your neck and filled you with hot cum, coating your walls with him. He pushed two more sloppy thrusts before collapsing beside you. You both lay panting and shaking as your peak plateaued beside either other. He pulled you closer and you lay your head on his heaving, sweaty chest. He played with your hair as you both tried to catch your breath.
“All mine” he whispered against your hair and you felt yourself warm from the inside. You had given yourself to someone for the first time and no amount of reasoning could have stopped you, and you were glad. The sun shone down and warmed your skin, as you lay listening to Draco’s heart beat in his chest. He rested his arm around you and you held his hand up in yours. You saw the dark mark that contrasted so high against his milky white skin and gave it a kiss. You almost felt the vibration of the magic left in it against your lips. Draco started to jerk his arm away but when you held it tighter, he gave in and allowed you to give him more light kisses to the mark. You knew any words about it would be too much, so you thought of yourself comforting him - Being the person he needed when he got it, and now, hoping he would hear you. He hugged you tighter against his chest as you thought of it and that was enough to know he heard. He knew.

Kibbe Body Types and Celebrities: a Beginner's Guide
(Credit to: Aly Art)
David Kibbe, author of Metamorphosis, drew upon previous fashion systems to create his own Kibbe Body System, homing in on the yin-yang balance of the body and boiling his method down to the bare bones-- literally-- of the overall frame: length, width, height, and softness. Then, he divided each feature into two main categories: the yin softness or the yang structure. The more “structure” a frame had, the more “visual weight” it presented; and the more “softness” it had, the less “visual weight” it presented.
At first, Kibbe sorted each frame into five main types with two additional subtypes. However, his system recently caught on fire with popularity, leading to vast misinterpretations or reinterpretations through over analysis and hyper fixation. Because of this, David updated his system (and is reworking on an updated version of his book), resifting his old designs into a simpler order.
This analysis will be working from the information I've gleaned mostly from Aly Art's channel here. She is incredible at stripping down each concept to its basics-- highly recommend. I also used Merriam Style’s channel for her body type test (here), which is an even more stripped version of Kibbe’s original body type quiz. (Aly's version of the quiz is here.)
**Note**: Kibbe Body Types are separate from the actual weight of an individual; and do not change with bodily fluctuations, changes, or even age. Example: Romantics will always appear softer compared to other body types their height or weight because of the “flesh” (natural padding of fat) over their muscles and bones, whereas Naturals will always appear more “mature” compared to older Gamines because of the visual weight of the bones (cheekbone, jawbone, etc.) in their face.
KIBBE BODY TYPES
(Credit to: Aly Art)
**Note**: The Kibbe Body System is a complete overview of the entire frame, not just the face: two different people can share strikingly similar facial features yet have completely different bodies. It’s important to assess more than one facet.
If we were to place the Kibbe Body Types on a left to right scale, Dramatics have the most yang-- sharpness, length, elongation, structure-- and Romantics have the most yin-- shortness, roundness, softness. In the middle would sit the Classics-- a balanced mixture of yang structure and yin softness; mid-left would be Naturals (yang elongation with blunted width); and mid-right would be Gamines (an uneven mixture of yin and yang.)
DRAMATIC TYPES
Dramatics
Dramatic Types have longer, angular, more narrow bones-- a vertical column, if you will-- that curve into points instead of “blunt” edges. They are moderate to tall (5’9"/173cm and up), and have prominent, straight, sleek features. If plus sized, they accumulate weight in their hips and upper thighs.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Sean Connery, Charlton Heston, Ricardo Montalban, Errol Flyn, Daniel Craig
Katherine Hepburn, Cate Blanchett, Angelica Huston, Diane Carol, Faye Dunaway, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristen Wig, Maggie Smith, Taylor Swift
Soft Dramatics
Soft Dramatic Types have more softness in their bust and hips, giving them a powerful voluptuousness (as opposed to the Romantic Types delicate pure yin.) They are moderate to tall (5’7”/170cm and up), with a moderate waist and fleshier facial features, arms, and hips. If plus sized, they get heavier on the fleshiest parts of the body: bust, hips, waist, thighs, upper arms, and the face.
Dean Martin, Christian Bale, Matthew McConoughy, John Travolta, Nicholas Cage, Clark Gable
Adele, Ann Bancroft, Ava Gardiner, Barbara Streisand, Kim Novak, Maria Callas, Mae West, Rachel Weiz, Rita Heyworth, Sofia Vergara, Sofia Loren
NATURAL TYPES
Naturals have longer, blunted, wider bones-- a T-shape, if you will-- that curve into blunts instead of angular or softened edges.
David Kibbe no longer believes in the pure Natural Type, placing clients or celebrities into either Flamboyant or Soft Natural.
Flamboyant Naturals
Flamboyant Natural Types have a touch more structure: blunt, long, wide bones; wide, T-shaped shoulders; and a figure that narrows in a flat, straight line down their waist, hips, and legs. They are moderate to tall (5’11”/180cm and up), with features that are broad and angular, but not sharp. If plus sized, the body tends to become squarer.
Calvin Klein, Dick Van Dyke, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Tom Sellack (maybe), Michael Landon (maybe), Joe Biden
Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway (had work done to disguise), Bea Arthur, Brooke Shields, Cameron Diaz, Carly Simon, Cindy Crawford (quintessential, imo), Emma Stone, Farah Faucett, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ingrid Bergma, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts, Lucille Ball, Linda Carter, Michelle Obama, Nicole Kidman, Katie Homes (probably), Princess Diana Spencer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tracey Ellis Ross, Uma Therman, LOTS of supermodels (broad shoulders, long and straight waist)
Soft Naturals
Soft Natural have a softness to their long, blunt, wide bones, narrow hips. They are moderate to tall (5’5”/165cm and up), with smaller, rounder softness to their blunt facial features and frame. Their T-shape is less pronounced because of their more proportionate shoulders (in comparison to Flamboyant Naturals, at least.) If plus sized, SNs thicken in their upper arms, thighs, and hips.
Alan Alda, OJ Simpson, John Wayne, Robert Redford, Robert Conrad, Bing Crosby, Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Gene Kelly, Brad Pit, Gene Hackman
Bette Grable, Carol Lombard, Chloe Sevigny, Doris Day (icon), Goldie Hahn, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Lopez, Julie Andrews, Kamala Harris, Kat Dennings, Katy Perry, Kim Bassinger, Marisa Tomay, Renee Zellweger, Sandra Bullock, Scarlet Johanson (had work done), Sissy Spacek
CLASSIC TYPES
Classics are an even mixture of both skeletal structures: their frames are mid-height or tallish-- symmetrical angles or edges-- with a “balanced” appearance: their arms, waists, and legs are proportionate in length and width to their overall frame (not too angular, curved, or blunt); and can handle more visual weight than Romantics but less so than Dramatics or Naturals. They appear naturally polished; and often are dragged down by elements in their wardrobes that skew too much in any direction (appearing overwhelmed or overdone.)
Kibbe no longer promotes pure Classic Types, insisting that no person can be a perfect mixture and discouraging his clients or followers from trying to fit themselves into an impossible mold.
Dramatic Classics
Dramatic Classic Types are an even mixture of yin and yang with just a touch more of yang’s structure, giving them either slightly sharper features, slightly longer limbs, or a bit less softness overall. Their height is moderate (5’5”-5’8”/166-172cm or thereabouts); and their figure and features are symmetrically squarish (more rectangular compared to Dramatics’ long and narrow vertical column and Naturals’ long and wide T-shape.) If plus sized, they gain weight in the hips and thighs (rarely around the bustline), becoming more pear-shaped overall.
Carey Grant, John Ham
Diana Rig, Gina Rollins, Jackie Kennedy-Onassis, Jill Biden, Lana Turner, Olivia Munn, Phylicia Rashad
Soft Classics
Soft Classic Types are a symmetrical mixture with just a touch more of yin’s softness, giving them either slightly softened features, slightly shorter and wider limbs, or slightly more “fleshiness” overall. Their height is moderate (5’5"-5'6”/164-169cm); and their features are slightly small and wide. If plus sized, SCs lose their waist definition and become fuller in the face.
John Slattery, John Glenn, Gregory Peck, Bryant Gumbel
Barbara Walters, Carolina Herrera, Donna Reed, Emma Thompson, Grace Kelly, Joan Fontaine, Kirsten Dunst (maybe), Marion Cotillard
GAMINE TYPES
Gamines are an uneven mixture of both skeletal structures: their frames are usually short or rarely tall-- unsymmetrical angles or edges-- with a “youthful” appearance; and the mismatch of their skeletons give them an appearance of eternal youth instead of “womanly” or “mature” beauty. The endless combinations of their features-- long arms, short arms, long legs, short legs, long torso, short torsos, visual weight in the face, no visual weight in the face, etc. etc.-- thrive in the chaos of mismatching, color blocking, differing clothing silhouettes; and are often dragged down by too much polish or restriction.
David Kibbe no longer stands by the pure Gamine type, filtering people into either Theatrical or Soft Gamine.
Theatrical Gamines
Theatrical Gamine Types tip the scales in a more yang than yin direction, giving them a broadly angular frame composed of shorter lines (compared to the Dramatics’ and Naturals’ long, angular, and broad lines.) They are moderate to short height (5’6”/168cm) with square, slightly wide features. Structure gives them very defined musculature-- ala Dramatics and Naturals-- and a longer, “leggier” look. If plus sized, TGs collect weight from the waist down, turning squarer or “stocky.”
Jimmy Kimmel, Frank Sinatra, Neil Patrick Harris
Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel, Debbie Allen, Gloria Vanderbilt, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Kelly Osborne, Liza Minelli, Lucy Liu, Penelope Cruz, Tina Turner, Twiggy, Zoey Deschenel
Soft Gamines
Soft Gamine Types tip the scales in a more yin than yang direction. They are the short Gamines (5’2”/157cm or thereabouts): delicately broad-- a combination of delicate and small, broad and angular-- with width dominated by an overall “fleshy” softness in their arms, hips, and thighs. SGs often have “doll" like features: rounded face shape, fleshy cheeks and big eyes. If plus sized, their figure becomes more rounded, mainly in the bust, hips, arms, and face area. (Soft Gamines often think they are overweight-- when more often they’re not-- because of their natural roundness and lack of pronounced hips and waist.)
Fred Astaire, Robert Downy Jr.
Bette Davis, Susan Hayward, Claudette Colbert, Debbie Reynolds, Eartha Kitt, Halle Berry, Judy Garland, Leslie Caron, Mary Kate and Ashley Olson, Octavia Spencer, Natalie Wood, Reese Witherspoon, Sally Field, Winona Ryder
ROMANTIC TYPES
Romantics
Romantics are dominated by yin softness; and, therefore, have the least visual “weight” to them. Their frames are mid-height or shorter (5’5"/166cm and under) with “rounded” and curved angles or edges-- sloped or petite shoulders, rounded facial features, and “fleshy”, shorter arms, waists, and legs. If plus sized, Romantics keep their waist definition while their body and face become more rounded and “full.”
Colin Firth, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elijah Wood, Simon Baker, Richard Gere, Michael Jackson, Omar Shereef, Billy Dee Williams, Elvis Presely
Kate Winslet, Drew Barrymore, Christina Ricci, Arlene Dahl, Bernadette Peters, Beyonce, Dolly Parton, Elizabeth Taylor, Gina Lollobrigida, Helena Bonham Carter, H. E. R. Gabbie Wilson, Gene Simmons, Madonna, Maryln Monroe, Susan Sarandon
Theatrical Romantics
Theatrical Romantic Types differ from pure Romantic Types in their width: while both are delicate, the touch of yang to a TR’s frame gives it a narrower waist, slightly sharper features, and a bit less flesh over their arms, hips, or even hands. Their moderate to petite height (5’2”/157cm or thereabouts) is voluptuous, but small and narrow as opposed to wide and “bulky.” If plus sized, their figure retains its defined waist while the arms, thighs, and face become quite “fleshy.”
David and Susan Kibbe, Orlando Bloom, Prince, Johnny Depp
Ann Margret, Heidi Lamar, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jane Seymor, Jean Harlowe, Mila Kunis, Morgan Fairchild, Salma Hayek, Selena Gomez, Vivian Leigh
COMPARING THE CELEBRITY BODY TYPES
There's a great vid on Aly Art's channel (here) comparing female celebrities to each other, highlighting the differences of each individual type.
Dramatic, left; Soft Natural, right.
Soft Classic, left; Flamboyant Natural, right.
Soft Gamine, left; Dramatic, right.
Romantic, left; Theatrical Romantic, middle; Soft Natural, right.
CONCLUSION
Not much at present-- just needed this primer written down so I can start my David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson Kibbe posts.
Thanks for reading~
Enjoy!

Guide To Ouji Fashion For Beginners: Dos And Don’ts
Boystyle (ボーイスタイル), also referred to as Ouji (王子) in pop culture is a fashion style that is frequently associated with lolita fashion. Although it is not Lolita style per se, it is more of a masculine counterpart of the fashion style. It shares many of the aesthetic elements of the Lolita style. If you are a Lolita fan, you are bound to fall in love with the Ouji fashion, also called Kodona Fashion.
The Ouji fashion follows its rules and can be pretty different from the Lolita fashion. Given that the word "ouji" means "prince," it contrasts with the princess-inspired Lolita aesthetic. However, this is just a brief overview of the world of Ouji fashion. Keep reading to dive deep into the beautiful world of Ouji Lolita fashion!
A Short Introduction To Ouji Fashion
The Ouji fashion is a Japanese trend frequently considered the Lolita fashion’s masculine counterpart. Don't mistake it for a sub-style, though; it is a full-fledged fashion item in itself. Since “Ouji” means prince in Japanese, you may think of it as the male Lolita fashion or even as the “Prince” to the Lolita fashion’s “princess.”
The primary distinction between the Ouji look and its feminine counterpart is the use of pants rather than skirts. The Victorian clothing style has also had an impact on the pants, which come in a variety of lengths. Vests and blouses will go with them. Most outfits may pair a waistcoat with it to complete the look.
So a typical Ouji outfit consists of the following: a blouse, pants, a vest or a jacket, shoes, socks, and, if desired, a hat. When you put these together to create an Ouji coordinate, it should look masculine yet elegant. A vital factor to note is that, although it’s supposed to be "masculine" fashion, anyone –regardless of gender- can wear it.
Types Of Ouji Fashion Style
There are numerous sub styles and themes for Ouji fashion. It has the same three primary substyles as Lolita: classic, sweet, and gothic. However, there is a lot more overlap between these sub-styles, which aren’t as clearly defined. Even so, let’s look at the different types of Ouji fashion styles -
1. Sweet Ouji
The sweet Ouji style refers to more adorable, youthful, and innocent coordination. This style adheres to some of the same guidelines as Sweet Lolita, a sub-style of the Lolita fashion. But this style has a lot more of a “Shota” or young boy vibe.
People who wear this style often pair it with a cute Lolita to twin with them. Some common themes or motifs are school-style, circus, sailor, and white rabbits. There aren’t many hard and fast rules for the set.
But generally, the outfit should include a blouse with ruffles. The pant length will depend on the person’s tastes, but pumpkin or puffed ones are more common. Other common elements include cropped or high-waisted vests, ribbon neck bows, mini crowns, or mini hats.
2. Classic Ouji
The emphasis on elegance and a refined air characterize classic Ouji. This substyle has a more traditional “Princely” feeling. It is more sophisticated than sweet—most Ouji that aren't overly sweet or gothic fall within the classic Ouji substyle. The whole coordination should give off a refined and more mature vibe.
People who practice this style frequently wear boots. They also have specific buttons and structures for the jacket to be considered Classic Ouji, and even the pockets are unique.
The Classic Ouji fashion follows a significant historical influence. The typical elements of this style include – knee-length or longer pants, full-sized bicorn, tricorn or cavalier hats, waist-length or longer vests and jackets, and elegant jabots or neck-bows. The most common themes or motifs can be military, pirate, or royalty.
3. Gothic Ouji
Gothic Ouji exudes a sense of darkness that can take the form of opulent decadence, distressed decay, or a simple, angular design. Generally, Gothic Oujis favor darker color schemes, makeup, patterns, and fashion—people who follow this outfit typically twin with the Gothic Lolitas.
To perfect the Gothic Ouji look, you must have a lot of specific details, just like the two styles mentioned above. The buttons, bows, and pockets should follow the particular Ouji rules. This Ouji style often gets inspiration from Visual-Kei elements such as big hair, platform boots, and flamboyance. The most common aspect of this Ouji style is the color black.
The outfit features jewel tones like navy or Bordeaux to contrast the black. The Ouji style also uses a lot of textures instead of colors, such as jacquard, velvet, or distressed fabric. Another common element is capes and overskirts made from long flowing fabric. The most common themes include vampires, priests, and crosses.
5 Simple Dos And Don’ts about Ouji Fashion You Should Know About
If you are a beginner in Ouji fashion, there may be various elements of this fashion world that you may want to know before delving deeper. Mainly because many people tend to confuse Ouji fashion with Lolita fashion, the more widely recognized fashion style of the two.
So we bring you some simple dos and don’ts in Ouji fashion that you should keep in mind as a beginner.
1. Ruffled Blouse Over Plain Blouse
When you are doing an Ouji look, plain button-ups work fine. But when you pair them with a jacket or vest with a longer neck, the simple button-up can look a bit too simple. So you may opt for a more extravagant and frilly shirt that brings detail to the neck. Ruffles, jabots, neck bows, lace, and big collars are some details that favor the Ouji style.
2. Pants Define The Ouji Look
Pants are one of the essential elements of the Ouji look, as they are the main element that set the style apart from Lolita. Shorts and knickerbockers are the most common styles and lengths of pants that bring the Ouji vibe to an outfit.
Pants will also determine your Ouji style for the day. Long pants work best if you want a gothic and mature look.
3. Accessorize A You Want
When it comes to accessories, only the sky is the limit for you. Simply play around with it. If you already have a lot of Lolita accessories or other gothic ones, they may also complement the Ouji style. Some of the most common accessories in Ouji fashion are ties, bowties, jabots, lace, pocket watches, waist chain, etc.
4. Invest In Real Top Hats
Hats are most probably the most common element of the Ouji look. The two hat types most frequently seen in the style are top hats (mini or not) and tricorns (mini or not). Nevertheless, wearing newsboy hats and bowlers is also possible.
It’s best to avoid buying costume hats when you’re out shopping for hats. Authentic top hats look much better and aren’t even that expensive. Please note that if you buy these hats internationally, the shipping fee usually will be very high as the hats will involve volumetric weight.
5. Try Not To Look Too Casual
In the Ouji style, it’s best to avoid looking "too casual." Simply pairing a button-up with shorts or capris does not look boyish. Such an outfit seems uninspired and boring. Adding a few small accessories allows you to turn even the most basic style into something more attractive.
Conclusion
For everyone starting their Ouji journey, the new terminologies and overlapping substyles can be a bit overwhelming. So for all the beginners out there, we share a guide to Ouji fashion in this article.
I hope it has helped you start your journey with a clear idea of the beautiful world of Ouji fashion. Thanks for reading up till now.

If you’re still doing weapon asks, tri-slosher nouveau? My bucket bestie that gave me carpal tunnel ❤️❤️❤️
I know the new design is somewhat contentious amongst Tri-Slosher fans, but I really like it. I think making it all angular makes it more unique compared to the other sloshers. I feel like they could have done more for the Nouveau specifically than just repaint the handle, but it is what it is.
Tri-Slosher has never been my favourite, or even my second favourite, Slosher, but I still like it a lot, and of the two kits this is the one I like the most. I think it's cool that this weapon is good for beginners while also being strong enough to compete in the big leagues.

New group of guys!
These Dichotomon are little welding demons, based off of like creativity and burnout and stuff. I'm really happy with all of these designs, I feel like a player would be happy evolving their little Weldimp into any of these guys.
More design info under the cut.
Weldimp is a little beginner artist, trying new things, getting messy, making mistakes, and having fun! :)
The name "Weldimp" comes from Welding Imp. I'll admit I'm not very clever when it comes to names.
It can remove its welding mask, and its face looks like Procrastimp, cheeky expression and all.
I start the design with a type combo I haven't done yet, so the creativity metaphor came in a little later, but I'm still really happy with the design.
Next is Procrastimp! The idea behind it is that if you get a bunch of external rewards unrelated to your art you might lose motivation.
Procrastinate + Imp = Procrastimp. I'm the cleverest.
I am so in love with this cheeky boy. The grin is a mask for its deep seeded insecurities but that doesn't make him any less cute!! I used a lot of circles and round shapes because he is a sweet young man.
Penultimately is Weldemon, based off the idea that if you rely on external rewards to motivate you, your hobby becomes a job and you could stop enjoying your work.
Weldemon comes from Weld and Demon. No shit.
I tried to make this guy taller and more angular than Procrasrimp. His face and mask are fused together so his bones probably look pretty messed up.
Finally is Sautitan, the "solution" to the problem posed by the two other evolutions. To be clear, there's nothing wrong with deciding you don't want to do art, likewise it's perfectly okay to make art for a living, I simply wanted to convey a story with these little guys.
That being said, Sautitan is based off the idea of internal validation, it is always happy with its art because it doesn't worry about what other people think.
This name is actually interesting. "Sautitan" comes from Solder and Titan, as well as Satan, playing into it being the king of the junkyard, ruling over the imps and demons.
I focused on boxes and sturdy looking shapes for this one. I even did some perspective work to make sure he looks nice and big.
Outside of the mech it looks just like a regular Weldimp, but capable of making that massive fireball.
TYSM for reading all that! I really appreciate it :)

The whole werewolves stories I've been reading resulted in this thought because I don't understand how some mates are abusive and they are all like 'Goddess this or that why, but I also love him'.
This is Copium and in the form of DamiRae.
Warning: Bad words.
The Moon Goddess.
The Goddess of the People of the Night. Believed to be the one who connects everyone to their mates, be it wolves, vampires, witches and humans.
And when someone so unfortunately gains a mate who is unworthy, abusive, hurtful-- they blame her.
'Why was I bound to this kind of person?' They would ask.
But because of the bond, and their blind trust to The Moon Goddess, ultimately these people bound to a cruel mate, would say, 'But I love them, and there must be a reason for this connection.'
It was laughable.
How they got it so wrong.
These fated bonds they held sacredly, were not created by The Moon Goddess.
It was created by a witch who wanted to be connected with her lover in this life and the next, and the next, and the next, well, till eternity.
And she ascended to Godhood to do so. For nothing could stop her from being with her lover. And he will always have a place right next to her.
Those who heard of what she had done and wanted the same fate with their lovers, sought her out. Not thinking that their partner won't be the same in the next life.
So, if you so happen to have an abusive mate. Don't blame The Moon Goddess or The Witch.
Blame yourself.
Because in some other life, this was what you wanted.
In a cold dark throne room, sat a man with black hair on a golden throne. His eyes were closed. His head propped up by one hand with his elbow resting on the armchair.
Everything was quiet.
The soft tapping of shoes echoed throughout the hall and the man's green eyes were revealed as he steadily gazed before him.
A pale woman in a long black dress that left no questions as to what her figure might be underneath, emerged from the shadows and as she got closer her long black hair was revealed and her mesmerising violet eyes that were locked at him.
He smiled.
And she smiled back.
There was nothing but silence as she moved towards him. The allure of her swaying hips caught his attention.
She lifted her dress revealing her beautiful ankles and her strappy heels as she ascended the small staircase to reach the man on his throne.
Their eyes still locked at one another.
He spread his legs apart as he adjusted himself on his seat, placing both arms on the armrest. And without pausing she slipped comfortably on top of one of his legs, sitting rather comfortably there.
"Damian, My Love..." She traced his angular jaw with her long wispy fingers. Her nails were long too and painted black.
He had closed his eyes to relish in her touch, "Yes, Beloved?"
"Do you not regret what I have done?" She inquired quietly as she studied his face with her eyes.
The air was calm as he replied, "Of course not."
She tilted his face towards her and she leaned down and kissed him.
"Why would I?" He mumbled between kisses as he too reciprocated her affections.
"My Lady, there is someone seeking your service." Came the voice of a man as he knelt on the floor. He appeared suddenly within a whirl of black smoke and the woman sighed.
"I think we need to make the quest to search for The Witch harder, My Love." She mumbled against his lips. And he studied her eyes.
"I honestly thought it was hard enough already, but I will see to it then, Beloved." He caressed her face and she closed her eyes for a moment. It was her turn to enjoy his touch.
After a few seconds she kissed him on the lips and pulled away. "I must go." Her hand still held his hand as she slowly distanced herself from him, clearly not wanting to let go.
Eventually their hands parted. And she turned her attention fully to the steps as she started her descent.
On the base of the staircase he called her, "Raven," she turned to him, "I will be waiting here."
She smiled and she glanced at the man, "Lead the way."
In the beginning of her journey to bind one person to another.
Her lover and her were the first. And now there were so many more connections she binded after that it came to the point that everyone believed they had some fated mate somewhere as per The Moon Goddess kind graces.
With that, The Witch and Her Lover decided to create a quest in order to find her. And they only made it harder and harder when they found more and more people were still seeking her out.
Seeking The Witch’s Unending Blessing.
The man seemed to have fallen asleep on his seat, his eyes closed and rested on one hand that was propped at the arm of his throne. His legs spread wide and he was slouched back into the back of his golden throne.
The familiar tapping of heels woke him up. His green eyes studied the darkness.
"How was it, Beloved?" He asked quietly.
And she emerged from the darkness again, a sad smile on her lips as she approached him.
He waited for her and was patient. She climbed the steps again and went to him, she sat on the throne, making her lover bring his legs closer together. Her back rested against one of the arms of the throne. And then she raised her legs to sling them over his firm legs.
She traced his face again with her long fingers, "A woman and man came to me, asking to be binded…"
He waited for her to continue, knowing that there was more she had to say.
She sighed, "She already had 4 other connections." Her violet eyes then glanced at the ceiling behind his shoulder.
"And…" He glanced back at her with a small tilting down of his chin.
"Who am I to say no to their request?" She looked at his calm green eyes, "I will not take their choice from them like those people did to us." She brushed his lower lips with her thumb.
“After all, they also proved their love by coming all the way here, through all the hardships we have built to find me.” She paused. "I think she found me quickly because she has already found me before." She replied matter of factly and the two were left to stare at one another.
And that was another reason as to why they tried to fade into history like some folklore or legend because of people seeking her out. Particularly those seeking her out a second or third or nth time.
Raven The Witch. Would never turn them down.
"Did you tell her she already had a forged bond?" He asked but he knew the answer already.
She shook her head, "No, I have no right to intervene in their decisions when they put in so much effort to find The Witch from whatever urban legend that they heard me from." She traced his jawline again, appearing to be fascinated by his angular jaw and the feeling of his already prickling beard even though he had just shaved.
"I simply fill in their desire." She studied his face and the love she had for this man seeped out from every pore of her body.
And he glowed matching her affections.
Even though she said that, the main purpose of making her story a legend that would hopefully fade to nothing was because she didn't want to meet more people like the one she had recently created a bond for.
Eventually, some bonds would fade if not reignited and would die down, but it takes a long long time for it to die. And the most recent connection would stay. But some did not have that with their older connections. The possibility of a bond to fade.
And if those already bonded kept seeking her out to form new bonds to their current lovers– it will only be a messy story for those involved
And Raven knew messy stories very well. For her life was the same.
One whole cluster fuck of a mess.
So, remember, if your mate happens to be an asshole. Blame yourself. You placed your fate in another person’s hands. Thinking that you will always have the same kind of love in this life and in the next.
Forming bonds thinking this is that once in a lifetime chance to have such an epic romance.
Well, jokes on you, even more so when you forge more than one bond in the name of such an epic love.
At the very least, if you get rejected by your mate and because you have more than one bond, then you have options.
Mortals are really foolish.
FIN.

Tis gross and cold and rainy today, hit me with some summertime magic? 🥺
Ask Me About My WIPs
It's like that here too! I'm sending all the summery vibes and also hot cocoa 💛
I just answered one about summertime magic here , but here is the teeniest sneak peek at part one of Eddie's story, June: You Need A Lipstick Stain On Your Whiskey Ice
(also you'll see, but the theater/arcade is actually gonna be called Newby's now and the waterpark in Steve's story is Holloway's - I just haven't got around to changing that)
📻Now Playing: No Sleep Till Brooklyn by Beastie Boys
“While you’re at the job working nine to five, The Beastie Boys at the Gard-”
Your finger slams the radio off, car plowing into a spot behind the old brick building and coming to an abrupt halt.
Coffee burns as it rushes over your tongue and down your throat, your fingers adjusting the hem of your skirt as you slip your keys into your bag and jog up the steps and inside the cool AC that’s already humming in overtime. Fuck, it was gonna be a day.
The dimly lit hallway of Newby’s is a labyrinth and no easy feat for a beginner. The lights are basically non-existent and your boss, Keith, unloads shipments there. The narrow space is already cramped, and with the foam cups spilling out, reels, chords for arcade games, it is a precise and intricate dance from the back door to the staff room. At this point, you can sway and skip your way around it with your eyes closed, but on a morning like today, you’re simply not inclined to care.
Your tennis shoe kicks at a box of popcorn buckets, knee smacking into something that you’re fairly certain is a butter shipment, due to the stains on the side of the cardboard, and a sharp and loud ‘mother-fucker’ leaves your lips.
His voice calls from down the hall, “You’re late.”
Unwilling to give an ounce of satisfaction to him, you roll your shoulders back and step into the staff room, the faint smell of burnt pizza from an unfortunate microwave incident last summer still lingers in the fabric of the threadbare carpet and cheap couch. You ignore the boy laying on said couch and open your locker.
Eddie pretends not to look at you, but his eyes roam up the back of your exposed legs, to the hem of your skirt and he swallows. Ignoring the way the slight rise of your work polo lifting and revealing a part of your midriff makes his stomach twist up. It’s when you slam your locker closed, curl a piece of loose hair around your ear and take a sip of coffee that he sees it and remembers.
He shakes his head and stands, walking out of the room, “Late night?”
Your body heats up but you just smile at his profile, “Jealous, Munson?”
Eddie’s in his usual outfit. The black polo for the first day of summer, the black, ripped at the knees jeans, dirty white sneakers. It’s only when he stops in the doorway, turning back around to face you, that you see his face fully for the first time since last summer and your fingers adjust on your coffee cup.
He seems taller, his jaw a little more angular, and you detect a slight scruff over it. His hands land on the frame, ringed fingers curling around the wood as he smirks, nodding at your shirt, “Nope. But you might want to cover that up.”
As he leaves with a whistle of a song that stirs something familiar in your brain, you spin and look in the mirror, whispering, “Shit.” The faintest little hickey blooms on your neck and is totally, one hundred percent, visible.
You were gonna kill Steve Harrington.
But that was a problem for a different day, because as the faint sounds of popcorn popping and the stereo begins to harmonize with arcade buzzes and whirs, you have to start your first day of your summer job.
Newby’s was the first of Hawkin’s newly renovated downtown, a town favorite and bustling place when the Indianna summer heat reached insane temperatures. Keith had already given you a spiel about how the new waterpark was going to affect business and you and Eddie needed to be on better behavior than normal - especially if you wanted the manager promotion.
Which you honestly weren’t sure what he was referring to in terms of “better behavior than normal”. There had only been one bucket of popcorn dumped on a head last summer, one Icee to the face, and only like, five, unofficial parties.
But despite hating your co-worker, you really did love the job. You enjoyed the cool temp of the building and the dim lighting to soothe many a summer hangover. Free snacks and plenty of downtime, with good hours that left you with ample free time most evenings. Now, with three summer’s under your belt, you were determined to become the manager, and were certain you’d do a better job than Munson.
Three summer’s of knowing the exact way the popcorn machine could be coaxed into a few more kernels without burning. The bump of your hip in a very precise spot to get the coins the pac man machine would eat, loose. The perfect time to refill salt shakers and napkin holders and run the Icee machine in the lull that came like clockwork before a rush.
But most importantly, you know how to make Eddie Munson tick, even with just a simple piece of bubblegum in your mouth. And sure, maybe it was immature to place the gum in your mouth as you rounded the corner and began the opening duties with him. Maybe it was childish, unprofessional, and not manager material to try to get him amped up already, but you missed seeing his ears turn red and that look flash across his brown eyes. Missed the way your stomach sort of swooped when he swallowed and your faces got close together when you started yelling at each other and-
The bright pink bubble pops loudly as you clean the second popcorn machine, Eddie sighs somewhere behind your shoulder. You relish in the grunt that follows when you snap it loudly across your teeth. Alternating between bubble and snap for the last five minutes.
Early morning light filters in through the small window that runs across the top of the blacked out doors, the movie theater and arcade dim with warm lighting and neon flashes that trick you into thinking it's cooler outside than it is.The trailer for the new action thriller coming in July harmonizes with the whir of a pinball machine, the clatter and cheer from a fake audience in the racing game home screen.
As you close the glass panel of the popcorn machine and hit start on a second batch, you turn with another bubble ready to pop. A pencil in his outstretched hand pokes it.
The sad pink glob deflates over the yellow wood and he smirks at your pout. You release the gum, letting it dangle off the pencil as you hiss, "You could have poked my fucking eye out, Munson."
"Damn," he whistles, motioning with the gummy pencil towards your lips, "Read my mind sweetheart, put this back in there and I'll try again."
Your spine prickles with a familiar heat as you place your hands on your hips. “What the hell is your problem?”
Eddie laughs, gesturing to his chest with the pencil, “My problem? Princess, you showed up late on our first fucking day with a hickey from Harrington and you’re already starting your get under Eddie’s skin on purpose shit with the gum…” He blinks at you, trailing off as you tilt your head to the side with narrowed eyes, “What?”
Your arms cross over your chest. “How’d you know it was from Steve?”
Eddie’s cheeks start to turn pale pink and he chucks the pencil in the garbage, gum and all and turns towards the registers, “I-I uh-”
The double doors swing open forcefully, making you both squint against the harsh light as several voices start yelling over each other.
“La, la, la, la, can’t hear you,” Dustin Henderson sings as he puts his hands over his ears, beelining towards the arcade.
Mike Wheeler is fast on his heel, shouting about something you can’t quite make out. Will Byers and Lucas Sinclair head towards the two of you with smiles that tell you they’re already up to no good and it’s only the first day of summer.
Eddie shakes his head, “No. I know what you’re about to ask, no.”
Lucas places his hands into a prayer in front of his chest, “Eddie, Mr. Munson, if I can just have a minute of your time to tell you our very reasonable request and walk you through an opportunity that you are for sure wanna hear about.”
“You’re not getting free Icee’s. You know what you did.” Eddie points towards the arcade without another word and the two boys’ shoulders fall, turning on their heels. He calls out after them, “And why aren’t you all working? Little old to spend your day in the arcade still, isn’t it boys?”
The four old teens flip him off and then convene around Dragon Slayer, groaning as they look at the screen then over at him. He salutes with two fingers and they all raise two hands, double flipping him off.
