Artemis Fowl Winged AU:
—————
For obvious reasons, the Fowls are Corvidae- intelligence, curiosity, strong family bonds… and a proclivity for extreme mischief.
Artemis Fowl II- Western Jackdaw:
Tumblr media
An underappreciated little corvid with glossy black feathers and bright blue eyes, perfect for Artemis! I've already mentioned corvid intelligence, but let me note in particular they are incredible problem solvers... and sometimes a little silly.
Artemis Fowl I (Fowl Senior)- Common Raven:
Tumblr media
Clever? Check! Iconic? Check! Believed to be unfortunate to come across? Unfortunately, check! And finally, appropriately scruffy? Check!
Angeline Fowl- Barn Owl:
Tumblr media
Well, some member of the family deserved to be an owl, and Barn Owls have the perfect mix of elegance, beauty and intellect to suit Angeline- they’re also quite cute, and can be very silly (spoken from experience!)
Myles and Beckett Fowl- Stellars’ Jay and Blue Jay:
Tumblr media
Look at these birds and tell me it’s not the twins. Jays are known for mischief-making, extreme intellect (despite often being underestimated) and colorful, loud personalities- perfect for them!
Domovoi Butler- Golden Eagle:
Tumblr media
A classic! While I was originally thinking ‘owl’, eagles have a certain reputation of nobility and power- they’ve also historically been used in falconry. They are fierce, protective, and incredibly strong birds.
Juliet Butler- Black and Chestnut Eagle:
Tumblr media
While I was this close to going with a Crested Caracara or some form of kite, Juliet deserves ‘eagle’ status alongside her brother. Further research led me to various ‘hawk-eagles’, smaller than their more famous cousins and built just a little bit different- this bird is colorful and quick and still quite powerful. Though, in all truth, I imagine Juliet would dye her feathers green no matter what wings she’d have.
Holly Short- Common Kestrel:
Tumblr media
A small bird for a small fairy! While a kestrel is one of the smallest raptors, they are nonetheless incredibly fierce and capable of some pretty fancy flying, including the unique ability to ‘hover’ in midair!
Mulch- Burrowing Owl
Tumblr media
I don’t think I really have to explain myself here, lol.
(now… onto the villains! Be warned for some blood ahead!)
Opal Koboi- Little Brown Bat
Tumblr media
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Why not a vampire bat? She’s a villain!” And A. It feels too easy, and B. Vampire bats are highly social (which, granted, most bats are), and more importantly, known to take care of older or sick members of their swarm! That is too compassionate for Opal. So instead, I chose something known for being small, fairly ‘cute’, and, most importantly-
Tumblr media
Absolutely full of rage.
Jon Spiro- Peregrine Falcon
Tumblr media
A cosmopolitan bird, the peregrine falcon is a bird perfectly at home in the big city-in fact, peregrine falcons have been observed to fly faster and hunt more successfully when among the skyscrapered skyline! Primarily preying on other birds, the peregrine falcon is a serious threat, even if it's not particularly big or strong, and its urban lifestyle makes it well-suited to one Jon Spiro.
Britva- Giant Petrel
Tumblr media
A relatively underrated villain in the series, but in my opinion the most grounded in reality and particularly intimidating. Given the Bay of Kola is his territory, a seabird felt appropriate, and these birds are big, bad, and brutal. A true scourge on other creatures, that's for sure.
Damon Kronski- Blood Pheasant
Tumblr media
Finally, some Galliforme representation! These birds are relatively uncommon in the world of public knowledge, but very flashy- just look at it! The males are brightly-colored, but sharply-spurred, and can be quite fierce when disturbed.
Teddy Bleedham-Drye- Cape Vulture
Tumblr media
I don't really think I need to elaborate here, lol.

Is there a masterlist of, like, actors and celebrities that have come forward for trans rights?
I know the internet has all sorts of collections of people who've done something messed up and those always depress me but reading about David Tennant being supportive in the face of the UK government and current legislation and stuff really hit me and I'd love to be able to see who else is out there standing up for us and what's right.
If not, here's a list I'm putting together, feel free to add to it or add context in the notes if you want! I'm including celebrities who have affirmed their support for trans family members even if they're not doing other activism. I'm also only listing celebrities I know of, and this list does not in any way endorse any problematic stuff any of them may have done outside of the topic.
Just making this list is cheering me up a lot tbh

Note
What made you decide your OCs names/what do their names mean?
Sivonne Alessandra Thawne: Sivonne is a bastardized version of the name Siobhan that 14-year-old me heard for the first time, and I thought it sounded cool. Alessandra, their middle name, means "Defender of men" and I thought that worked pretty well for her.
Jason Luca Barron: Jason means "Healer", Luca means "Light". It works pretty well for his personality.
Cassandra Addison Stevens: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Hailey Tuyet Laurence: "Hailey" chosen at random based on vibes, means "hay's meadow" and "Tuyet" is Vietnamese for "snow".
Jessica Esmeralda Wells: Jessica was just chosen to establish her as the E-2002 version of Jesse Wells, and Esmeralda means "emerald". It was just chosen at random.
Regina Maria Rivera: "Regina Maria" is a reference to her family's Catholic faith, meaning "Queen Mary", which refers to Mary, mother of Jesus.
Ember Mallory Del Rosario: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Aryazana'canwr'mwyar'nos: Aryazana doesn't mean anything, I made up the name myself, and "canwr mwyar nos" means "Night Singer" in Welsh, a reference to her abilities from being half Siren. Her human name, Arya, means "Illustrious".
Catherine Danielle "Cat" Stewart: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Kyle Nolan Spencer: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Maxwell Samuel Seng: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Eric Matthew Akintola-Stevens: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Jacob Devon Stevens: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Khalil Marcus Stevens: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Antonio Carlos Rivera: Named after the little brother in Disney's Encanto, aka the character he was based off.
Ameerah Jade Carmine: "Ameerah" chosen at random. Her middle and last names are colors, as to reference her ability to use the visible light spectrum to warp people's emotions.
Regina Catherine Barron-Stevens: Named after Gina and Cat, close friends of her parents.
Rania Rayan Al Qallaf-Martinez: Rania was chosen because it means "Queen", due to Rania's original status as a villain before I revamped her character, Rayan was chosen at random, it means "Door Of Heaven".
Lydia Angeline Hawke: Lydia was chosen at random, Angeline was chosen because it is a name similar to that of one of my most difficult coworkers.
Meredith Nadia Alatorre: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Kelsie Saoirse Gupta-O'Riordan: "Kelsie" chosen at random, "Saoirse" chosen because it means "Freedom" and is relevant to her role in-universe as Siv's therapist.
Cory Faye Fields: Name chosen at random based on vibes
Delilah the Cat: Named after the biblical Delilah, a cunning woman who uses trickery to get what she wants (like a tiny half-feral kitten lmao)
Sivonne Bellona Thawne: "Sivonne' to establish her as E-2022's Siv Thawne, "Bellona" because it's a Roman war goddess, and I think that fits Onnie's vibe.
Penelope Lowe: Name chosen at random based on vibes
Jessica Marina Wells: "Jessica" establishes her as E-2022's Jesse Wells, and "Marina" was based on "Marina and the Diamonds", one of my favorite musicians.
Moon Hyun-Ki: Hyun-Ki means "Clever" and I thought that would be a good narrative choice because he keeps trying to outwit Jessi and would be able to if she wasn't OP af.
Qiara Lucia Bradshaw: Qiara as an alternate spelling of "Kiara", but with a Q since she technically doesn't have a real name, she's just "Q". Lucia was chosen because it means "Light".
Marie Kiyoko Kaneyama: Marie chosen because it means "Bitterness" and Marie's one of my Angst Blanket OCs, "Kiyoko" after "Hayley Kiyoko", aka Lesbian Jesus.
Liah Amina Abdul: "Liah" was chosen because it sounds vaguely similar to some other Cardassian names, (It also means "delicate" so that's an extra bonus), Amina was chosen because it means "Faithful".
Soraya Farwah Al-Sharif: Named after a couple of close friends I had in middle school.
Thalia Xanthe Sylvan: "Thalia" after Thalia Grace of the Percy Jackson novels, "Xanthe" after one of the mythical Amazon warriors.
Athena Stonehenge: Not her real name, but was chosen because it's giving "Mysterious, wise, and cunning". Her real name, however, is Mollie, and she will kill you if you call her that.
Laila/Experiment 669: Laila is Arabic for "Dark night", which is a homophone for "Dark Knight", aka Sith lmao. Her experiment number is a cross between "666" and "69" because I am very mature.
Reyna Blazestar: Chosen because it sounds like some 13 year old's power fantasy Mary Sue OC name, which it technically is, because Reyna uses a fake name to distance herself from her abusive stepmother.
Aldrich Tobias Morgan: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Samira Nasrin Yazdani: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Sohelia Morgan Yazdani: "Sohelia" means star, and I thought that'd be funny because Vampires and the sun, y'know? And Morgan as her middle name is a subtle way of giving her father's last name without outing her as half-vampire.
Vanessa Leah Wolf: Name chosen at random based on vibes, HOWEVER, her last name, Wolf, was chosen because she gets transformed into a monster by a mad scientist and I thought that was subtle and fitting for her.
Matthew Avi Rosenthal-St. James: Name chosen at random based on vibes.
Dolores Valentina Aguilar: "Dolores" means "Sorrows" and I thought it was fitting for a vampire. "Valentina" was chosen based on vibes.
Victorie Amelie Bernard: Name chosen at random based on vibes.

Tagged by @aban-ataashi and @haledamage to make my OCs and their ships in this picrew. Thanks!
I have a lot of Watchers, but I picked one that 1) has a game supported ship and 2) I have spent a significant time writing about. And that way I can talk about some of my characters from other games (I do play other games I swear).
Pillars of Eternity: Watcher Calendula Qantu and Xoti
Divinity Original Sin 2: Godwoken Imogen and Lohse
Dragon Age 2: Angeline Hawke and Isabela
SWTOR: Republic Trooper Jakoava Kolia and Aric Jorgan
Mass Effect: Commander Samantha Shepard and Garrus Vakarian
Boy did a turian not make well in the human/elf dollmaker :P
Tagging @shimmer-like-agirl, @weakzen, @acenettle, and anyone else who wants to!

That's.... accurate, tbh. But if you decide to share, I'd love to hear about them :)
rannadylin
Talk about them without actually tagging the fandom, maybe? I'd enjoy hearing about them too!
Putting the Hawkes under the cut because length :)
Tumblr media
Angeline Hawke
Class: Mage (Force and technically Spirit Healer but I never put points in it)
Level: 24 (end game)
Personality: Purple
Romance: Isabela
Sibling: Carver to the Grey Wardens
Standard Party: Varric, Isabela, and Carver or Fenris
Sided with: Mages
My second Hawke (my first was a dual wielding rogue that I abandoned) and the first to finish the game! Everyone wound up siding with me (except for Anders, who was dead) despite Fenris giving me a short scare.
Tumblr media
Evangeline Hawke
Class: Archer Rogue (Assassin/?)
Level: 13
Personality: Blue/Red (nice and helpful person but can be blunt)
Prospective Romance: Anders
Sibling: Bethany to the Circle
Standard Party: Aveline, Anders, and Merrill or Bethany
Siding With: Mages
Evie’s actually who I consider to be my “canon” Hawke despite being my second play through (that’s pretty normal for me, actually. The first play through I just play what I think is fun/best options, and subsequent play throughs I start playing characters). I’m romancing Anders for the sheer tragedy of it but holy cow does it make me uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
Jeannine Hawke
Class: Two-Handed Warrior (Reaver/?)
Level: 7
Personality: Red, with some other options when I want to not be an asshole.
Perspective Romance: Fenris
Sibling: Bethany to the Grey Wardens
Standard Party: Fenris, Varric, and Bethany or Merrill
Siding With: Templars
I like ranged rather than melee, but I like two-handed more than dual wielding or sword and shield. It’s kind of fun playing a red-Hawke, but I keep gaining rivalry with Varric :(
Tumblr media
Seraphine Hawke
Class: Mage (Blood/?)
Level: 5
Personality: Purple/Blue
Perspective Romance: Merrill
Sibling: Carver to the Templars, I guess, since it’s the one I haven’t done?
Standard Party: Isabela, Varric, and Merrill (if I can pull it off)
Siding With: Mages
So despite already having a Hawke of each class and personality color, Seraphine showed up because I was joking with my husband that if I played a blood mage, she needed to run around with Merrill so they could be perky, ditzy blood mages together.
-
Shout out to Josephine Hawke (dual wielding rogue) and Christine Hawke (sword and shield) who I have not deleted but am probably never going to play again because I don’t enjoy those play styles.
I’ve tried having red headed and blonde Hawkes, but they just feel wrong and I always go back to dark hair :P

Perfume headcanons
Let me start out with a bit of background.
There’s a common misconception that perfume = for women, cologne = for men. This is false. Although the scents we think of as feminine versus masculine are ever-shifting (many vintage women’s scents would now be considered more unisex, for example), whether something is a perfume or a cologne doesn’t even have to do with whether the scent is feminine or masculine — perfumes contain a higher concentration of essential oils in the water and alcohol base, whereas colognes contain a lower concentration.
To address what makes a scent ‘feminine’ or ‘masculine' : feminine scents are generally soft florals or vanilla, and certain woods, whereas masculine scents may be muskier (cedar and oak rather than sandalwood) and be cut with spicy notes (cinnamon, tobacco, etc).
Early in his career, I think Butler would make a point not to use cologne or perfume — having a signature scent would be identifying during missions, and smelling of anything strongly could interfere with sneaking about. However, when he is older and semi-retired (think: post-book 5), I think he would go for older masculine perfumes. Essentially: ‘sports’ colognes are off the table. I think very, very light applications of scents that have a vibe like… an autumn walk through the woods on a sunny day. Rich, woody notes with a slight mossy undertone (though in a way that smells somewhat bright rather than musty), and lighter notes that have tines of cinnamon or cumin. Alternatively, darker fruits like pomegranate or honeyed figs that interplay with an underlying musk that captures the smell of a fire pit that’s just been extinguished (and perhaps a few notes of dried herbs). Another musk note I could see in perfumes for him would be a kind of... natural leather scent? Very much not a new car smell. To sum him up: you know those children’s books with witch houses, where there’s perpetually smoke coming out of the chimney while the smell of canned jams and jellies floats across a garden, mixing pleasantly with the dry thyme and rosemary that’s been left out by the window? That, basically.
There’s an evolution with Artemis as well, I think. Similar to his sartorial preferences, I think that with age, he’d come to understand what his personal aesthetic is beyond his initially childlike understanding of what constitutes the presentation of someone of his social class. After the sinking of the Fowl Star, I think (and I didn’t pick this because of the name) Creed Green Irish Tweed. It’s sometimes described as being akin to a walk through an herb garden on a sunny day. It’s a classy, versatile scent that isn’t season or setting specific (it could work as a scent for the office or after work), and when worn correctly, is almost like an aromatic ghost trailing after its wearer. I do think he’d keep with more conservative scents when he gets older and actually futzes around with finding a perfume he finds fits his aesthetics, but he’d move a bit away from lighter earthy notes and more towards richer, more unisex earthy notes. I like the idea of Une Rose by Frédéric Malle for him, which is a rose perfume with a woody, amber base. The florals and muskier notes combine nicely to create this soft, earthy-creamy base which remains intriguing with bursts of peppery notes that sneak through now and then. Similar to Angeline, there’s an almost cerebral, yet home-y warmth to the perfumes that he uses.
I think bright, unusual, and borderline unisex perfumes would work for Juliet. I would point to Iris Gris (by Jacques Fath) which, in combining the odd bedfellows of iris and peach, created something that occupied a liminal space between the two scents, all mouth-watering plummy notes and earthy, ‘spring-when-it’s-about-to-rain’ bases. The clean, freshness of lemon seems fitting for her, also, and I like the idea of this being given more depth by smoky vanillas that seem almost tinged by tobacco. Or, perhaps, given more earthy, musky undertones that are kept youthful by just a dash of spice, like cinnamon. You know on road trips, those strange small businesses that seem to be hawking exclusively lawn ornaments and incense? Think… a more youthful version of some of the diffused essential oils that seem to have seeped into the old wood of the building over the years.
With Holly, I think any perfume she’d wear (though I do sort of have the minor headcanon that the People naturally have a kind of… perfume-like scent about them) would be earthy, yet cut with notes that make the scent less old-person-y. I actually like the idea of Creed Green Irish Tweed for her as well, as I think herb-y notes like dried rosemary and sage are quite fitting. However, I think there’d be more unisex notes as well, such as lavender and a mature iris or germanium note. If you could somehow bottle the woods themselves — I’m not talking about a walk through the woods, I am talking about the forest as it exists beyond human exploration — and let a citrus note waft in, sly, I think you’d have her aesthetic. I’m reminded of a story told by Diane Ackerman in her book A Natural History of the Senses:
My mother once told me about a drive she and my father took through the Indian River orange groves in Florida when the trees were thick with blossom and the air drenched with fragrance. It overwhelmed her with pleasure. “What does it smell like?” I asked. “Oh, it’s delightful, an intoxicating delightful smell.” “But what does that smell smell like?” I asked again. “Like oranges?”[…] “Oh, no,” she said with certainty, “not at all like oranges. It’s a delightful smell. A wonderful smell.” “Describe it,” I begged. And she threw up her hands in despair.
How do you describe the smell of moss before it rains, as the drop in pressure leads the earth to yawn out those peculiar, musky notes? It’s like the ground is aware it usually isn’t the center of attention and is finally tapping you on the shoulder to make sure you are aware of the beauty hidden between blades of grass and warm, wet dirt. You do not articulate nature, you experience it, and that’s 100% on the money for Holly.
