Vincent: *literally had to dress him and lead him from their room because he was so distraught and scared it’d only make the pain he was in from the initial growth worse, quietly waves at him trying to reassure him* …

Dr: alright mr morrison we want you to stretch out your right wing.

Jack: *sheepishly does as he’s told struggling to get control over it at first before spreading it out showing off his golden feathers*

Dr: okay now tuck it back and stretch out your left one.

Jack: *tucks it back and winces a little bumping one of the sensitive feathers, whole body still on fire trying to adapt and recover from his last round of chems*

Dr: now stretch out the other one.

Vincent: Give him a minute.

Dr: we’re on a time crunch h-

Vincent: Give. Him. A. Minute.

Dr: …When you’re ready mr morrison please stretch your left wing.

Jack: *stands upright after taking a few deep breaths before stretching out the other wing*

Dr: good, now tuck it back in and we’ll begin the first flight test.

Vincent: have you lost your fucking minds?! His bones aren’t hollow and those things are causing him pain!!

Jack: *growing further distressed watching his partner be escorted out* I-I want to stop.

Dr: well test your flight path first then we’ll conclude your testing for today.

Jack: ..okay…

Dr: when you’re ready follow the illuminated lines and run the track flapping your wings until you can get lift.

Jack: *sighs and does as he’s told, starting with a light jog before breaking into a sprint spreading his wings out and flapping them faster and faster before suddenly lifting off the ground and immediately getting tunnel vision as the joints on his back and shoulders lock into place from the tension* AGH- *tries to scream in pain only to get cut off as he hits the ground*

Dr: Mr morrison? Well done now if you can get up we can try Aga- what are you doing?!

Jack: *now upright and viciously ripping out his flight feathers one after the other so he’ll never have to do that again* I WANT THEM GONE! I WANT THEM GONE!!! *screams in pain as blood stains his fingers and feathers*

Dr: NUMBER 76 STOP! STOP THIS NOW OR WELL SHOOT!

Jack: *so tired from almost weeks of sleep deprivation and continuous pain* DO IT THEN!! KILL ME!!

Vincent: *suddenly shoulder checks through the door after knocking out the security guard* DONT SHOOT! DONT SHOOT!!! *hurries over to Jack grabbing his hands in his* love- calm down, calm down now I’m here…

Jack: *covered in his own blood and feathers* pl-please make it stop Vincent- make it st- *pauses as a dart connects with the side of his neck* … *passes out into his arms*

Vincent: *looks over to see gerard standing there with his rifle* I said don’t shoot!

Gerard: that was for his safety… *gestures to the now bloodied stump left after jacks self destruction*

Vincent: … help me get him home… we’re done here.

Mercy multishipping

I love Mercy. Let’s get that straight right off the bat. Less about how she’s played in the game, but rather her lore. Medicin is such a fascinating topic, and I too wished I had her tools to do changes for the better in the world and help other people. Plus, she’s blonde and Swiss – exactly like myself. Only… my stature is the exact opposite of her. She’s tall and slender. I am short and, well, I wouldn’t say stout; I have annoyingly short legs and an annoyingly broad shoulder. Which frustrates me because it makes it a pain if you want to cosplay certain characters. Like Mercy, for example. Also wings. I LOVE wings, and Mercy’s got them. How can I not love her?

That aside… the thing about Dr. Angela Ziegler is that she is so shipable. How is a fan going to decide on a favourite pairing? They are all so damn adorable. In order to have an exchange with fellow Overwatch/Mercy fans, I compiled a list of my favourite pairings with the good doctor and my opinion on them. Feel free to comment or tell me what your favourite Mercy pairings are.

  Mercy x Genji

The classic. She saved his life. And even Blizzard seems to favour this ship. Need I say more? I only wished Genji would have retained his still somewhat human appearance from his blackwatch days instead of going full android. It’s the only thing that irks me in this pairing. Still, I imagine their interactions to be quite adorable.

  Mercy x Hanzo

I can’t exactly say what it is about this pairing, but I like it. I have seem some wonderful artwork of them, and visually speaking, they are gorgeous. Also, I can imagine that Angela is there to soothe Hanzo’s pain about everything that happened.

  Mercy x Reaper

Well, opposites attract, right? I love to imagine that Gabe already had a certain affection for sweet, innocent Angela from the very start. And that after he became Reaper, she was the only one he held no grudge against. Perhaps, hoping deep withing that she might find a way to cure him. And Angela, the good samaritan, of course couldn’t possibly turn him away if he needed anything.

  Mercy x Baptiste

He isn't even out yet (at least I think he isn‘t at the time I'm writing this) but already I am shipping them. They are opposites, but unlike Mercy x Reaper, they are opposites that compliment each other. Just look at them. They both have peace as their highest goal. Yet in their appearance, they are so Yin and Yang; Mercy, a bright-skinned, blonde Swiss, he a… well… how do you call an African hailing from Haiti? Anyhow, his skin and hair are black in contrast to Mercy's white skin and blonde hair. Their methods may differ a little, but they both want to build a peaceful world. As soon as I saw Baptiste for the first time, my brain immediately screamed: He and Mercy are so the perfect Yin and Yang! Also, them both being medics, they’re bound to get along greatly. I can practically hear them discussing certain cases or topics in medicine for hours. And while it seems he is one of those heroes who never actually joined Overwatch (according to his official bio), I like to imagine that he somehow learned of the recall and asked if he could join, since Overwatch was the enemy of his former employer whom he now hates for their methods. Also, I think hearing that the famous Angela Ziegler answered the recall might be yet another motivation for him to join.

  Mercy x Fareeha

Oooh boy, entering treacherous water here. Homosexuality is always a sensitive topic to talk about. I myself… I guess I feel like this: While I don't really want to be gay myself, I also don't really have anything againt those who are (heck, I got two cousins who are). I just somehow don't know what to think about it. Anyhow, Pharmercy just gives me a certain vibe of adorable. At first, Fareeha was this girl younger than everyone else, daughter of an Overwatch member yet still somehow a part of it. Now she is this tall warrior, taller than most other Overwatch heroines (I guess). So yeah… let’s rooth for them keeping the sky clear. (Also, I like the contrast between Angela’s overall brightness and Fareeha’s coffee-skinned, exotic Egyptian beauty. Siigh… imagine them both in some beautiful ancient Egyptian garb. I totally dig ancient Egypt).

    Honorable bromance mentions of ships I’ve seen

(For those who don’t know: Bromance is when two characters get along as well as if they were siblings. Despite the name, there’s no romance involved. Rather, it is a deep kind of friendship, or something resembling friendship.)

Mercy x Moria

While I can’t actually see them in a romantic couple relationship, I love to imagine them having a special kind of relatonship. A unique kind of rivalry. That special kind of mutual understanding that needs now words. Also, Moira tempting Mercy to try out some different, darker methods. Gives me the vibes of a demon tempting an angel into evil. Though I don’t see Moira as evil per se.

  Mercy x Widowmaker

Just like with Moira, I don’t see the romance in this couple. Doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have interesting interactions were they to meet. I also like the idea that Widowmaker might secretly harbor the wish that Mercy could heal what Talon had done to her. Perhaps triggered by some event she witnessed, or something (like Talon turning on her when she botches a mission?). And the kind soul Mercy is, I bet she wheeps about what had become of Amélie. Given the chance she would certainly try her best to reverse the damage Talon has done.

  Mercy x Soldier76/Jack

There is a lot going for these two. However… I somehow always imagine as the two being two close comrades, both in leading positions inside Overwatch who know the burden of a leader. They both want to bring peace into the world with Overwatch, want the best for Earth, Overwatch and its agents. I think Mercy might be one of the people closest to Jack alongside Ana and Gabe and vice versa. I don’t know… fort hem, I see much more of a deep camaradery instead of romance. *shrugs*

  That all said, I guess Mercy just would get along with each and everyone of the other characters in Overwatch; with some more, some less, of course. Wish we would see more interaction in general between all of them. Like, in those amazing animated shorts.

Jack sees you hit the ground, and all sudden fear is rising through his bloodstream.

“What the hell, Y/n!” He yells, rushing to your side. Lifting you up to into his arms. You were weak, and losing blood, the enemy that was hunting him down had took off, leaving Jack angry and broken. “You’re so reckless.” He mumbles, carrying you to Angela with shaky hands. He bugs her, asking her constantly if you’re okay. And will make it. When Angela let’s him see you, you’re awake, a bandage over the gun shot wound and your eyes sleepy.

“Y/n..” Jack says softly, moving to the bed side and grabbing your hand. You tear up.

“I’m sorry. I just couldn’t let you get hurt.” You say, knowing Jack was disappointed and scared. He sighs, fixing your hair with a gentle touch.

“Next time, better me than you. Alright? No point in fighting if you’re not by my side.”

REAPER

Gabriel was angry. He shoots the enemy in the head, watching them drop as he turns around, seeing Moira already getting to work and healing you. He walks over, seeing you blink tiredly, from losing blood.

“That was a stupid move.” He would scold you. You’d look up, knowing he actually had so much fear in his eyes for losing you.

“You could’ve died. Don’t go saving me next time, got that?”

GENJI

Genji would drop everything, yelling out your name as he rushed over to your aid. “Angela!” He’d shout, begging for the guardian angel to come and help. “Y/n. Please stay with me.” He’d apply pressure to your wound, keeping it at bay till Angela got there.

“Y/n. You didn’t have to do that.” He’d say when you’re better. He kissed your cheek. “I want you to be more careful. Don’t worry about me.”

MCCREE

Jesse would know exactly what to do. He’d rip a piece of cloth of his shirt, shaking with fear and worry as he quickly tried to stop bleeding. “You’re crazy, girl.” He’d hushed, his breathing feeling hitched. “You’re lucky you’re alive.” He’d pick you up, carrying you to the closest medic. Leaving only to get flowers for you to wake up to.

He wouldn’t argue with you. Wouldn’t scold you. He’d just shake his head when you see him, a small smile on his face. “You’re one hell of a girl.”

Vincent: Shit! Shit I’m sorry I’m sorry it was an accident- *trying to figure out what to do with himself wanting nothing more than to just hold him and rub his back* … *looks at his wings and the pin feathers that have been causing him a lot of pain* …

Jack: *jolts a little and looks back as he feels Vincent rubbing the feathers* n-no sto- *resumes hurling*

Vincent: shhh I know it hurts I’m sorry I’m sorry- youll feel a lot better after this it’s just like preening a really big parakeet- *finishes rubbing the casing off of the ones causing him the most pain* okay, I’ll stop now, this should take away most of the pain…

Jack: *visibly and loudly sobbing as he tries to pull himself up* I can’t do this- I can’t do it anymore- I want them gone- I I want to get rid of them-

Vincent: *carefully helps him up and hugs him close being mindful to keep his hands away from the base feathers* I know… I know you do.

Jack: I-I want them gone b-but the government won’t let me- they want to keep testing on me- and I-I *continues to just break down and hide himself away in his lovers neck*

Vincent: *staring at the blood forming around the pin feathers that were bumped and irritated* I know baby… I know…

Reaper

- He couldn’t believe you had managed to escape his grasp. After keeping you so carefully locked away from the world, making sure that you were kept safe and giving you all of his love. Sure, sometimes you got some bruises, sometimes he needed to punish you, but it was never from spite. 

- It still mystified him how you had managed to get away, especially in your condition. You were nearly three months pregnant when you had managed to slip away. To say he was angry...would be an understatement. His rampage had been one for the books, even Sombra knew better than to crack some snide comments or jokes. 

- So when he finally finds you, after months of searching, his heart is shattered and then his rage begins to boil as he sees you with another man. You hold a baby in your arms, it’s hair black and curly, and there is a man standing with his arms wrapped around you. He almost shoots through the window, but instead he watches, letting his anger grow. He’d get you back. No one could escape the Reaper. 

Solider 76

- Jack Morrison- Overwatch’s most beloved icon, even when he was under scandal. He didn’t care about anything except for his work until he met you. It was like the world suddenly came to life and all the darkness he had been surrounded with was suddenly lifted. You were the light that had come in. To him, you would be the perfect wife to exemplify the values of his organization. You were there to balance him out. 

- One day, after he had learned that you were pregnant, he decided to take you to the beach. There was an abrupt interruption, and he was forced to take a call for a few hours. When he came back, there was no sign of you, only a note. His blood ran cold as he ran forward to the cliff where you had said you would be jumping. All that remained there were your shoes. Devastated didn’t even begin to describe the depth of his emotions as he howled in rage and wept in misery. The one who had brought him so much happiness had taken her life. 

- But when he finds you were lying? That you had snuck off with one of the recruits that had given you flowers, written you poems... It was almost more than he could bare. It was quite an accident, the way he had stumbled across you again. He had been passing by a restaurant when he saw the familiar gleam of hair. He had back tracked, and looked in, seeing you sitting there with a small, blonde baby in your lap, and a man across the table. Never before had such blood lust nearly taken over him. 

Akande (Doomfist)

- Contrary to popular belief, Akande can be soft with the ones he loved. But since he was running such a seedy organization, he had to keep you safe from the Talon recruits. You had been a stripper at his favorite club, who he thought of himself a guardian angel of, and had stolen you away. You had always been his favorite, always and forever would be. Akande was overjoyed to find out about your pregnancy, he even started contemplating finding you a safe house. 

- But then, he came back one day and the vent that was just barely big enough to fit you, had the cover taken off. He went to Sombra to get her to find you, despite it not being directly Talon’s business. He didn’t care. His pregnant girl was somewhere, and she needed to be brought back. But you had hidden yourself well, even she couldn’t find a trace of you. 

- Months later, when he knew it had to be passed your due date, there was a hit. He was unstoppable, making his way to where you had been hiding. It was a lousy apartment, and he banged on the door. Who gave a fuck if it was in the open? Not him. He needed you back. When you finally opened the door, he saw the baby that was in a wrap around you, and a man with his hand over your shoulders. Nothing was going to keep him from his family now.
