I think it would be very funny if Roger ap Gwilliam was born when Ruby unleashed him. I don't think it's said which year specifically they land in but since Ruby could pay on her phone, I'm going to put it in the past 5 years if it's not 2024.
So you have this man in his early-to-mid 20s, saying shit about wanting nuclear control, and somehow he wins. He probably has much older opponents who are either middle aged like Ruby or older, something that theoretically indicates wisdom and sense, while this fresh faced Welshman acts like a living John Mulaney 'eggs and bottle rockets' sketch.
First Prime Minister to be appointed in his 20s in over 250 years (only other person in our history actually because Pitt the Younger is currently the only 20-something PM) and may even beat that record if he was born in 2023 or 2024. Possibly the last PM too if his plan went ahead.
All because people saw him and said "Sure, let's give this young man his bombs despite the fact he left school only a few years ago."
#doctor who#dw spoilers#'is that young man okay?' 'you know how I'm filled with rage? well I have no outlet for it so... bombs'#in reality I feel he is in his 30s like Aneurin Barnard but it's funny to imagine him in his early 20s#because god knows neither I nor anyone my age that I speak to would know what the fuck we'd do with ourselves in political office#you want to think you do but you really don't#not if you're sensible and avoid getting ahead of yourself

𝓐𝓷𝓮𝓾𝓻𝓲𝓷 𝓑𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓪𝓻𝓭 - 𝓟𝓲𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓮 𝓒𝓪𝓹𝓽𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓜𝓸𝓸𝓭𝓫𝓸𝓪𝓻𝓭 - II
Upon boarding the ship, you are shown into a small private chamber, where you stay until the tiny window no longer invites sunrays into the swaying room, giving you ample time to overcome the shock, cry your eyes out, and then assess the situation and prepare yourself for all kinds of outcomes. Finally, the door unlocks and opens slowly, letting in a young boy with a silver tray full of food. He puts the tray on the wooden table, nailed to the wall, and timidly approaches you to let you out of your restraints. You do not show any outright hostility to the child, and, as calmly as you can manage, ask to speak with Mr. Boucan. The boy tells you that he does not know who you are talking about, but once you give the description of the villain, he runs out and returns quickly, saying, "The Captain will come and see you, m'lady." After you spend what seems to be an eternity, you sit down to eat the food that was set on the table. As you hungrily shove down the beef, cheese, and bread with your hands, for your captors very wisely forgot to provide you with cutlery, Mr. Boucan comes inside the room with a jug of wine and two cups. He sits across from you and, eyeing your stained hands and mouth, reintroduces himself as the infamous pirate, Captain Cael, a name that freezes your blood—a name that you've heard from your uncle many times before. The man bends over the table with an incidious smile and asks, "Now, how much do you reckon your dear papa would pay for your return?"
thanks @aneurinallday for the inspiration! <33

Just for funsies this is from my fancast board on Pinterest. The minute I saw this man I said… Nikki my beloved is that you…. Aneurin Barnard as Nicholas De Lenfant
I don’t know about y’all but he is EXACTLY how I imagined Nicholas. He has a kind of cynical air about him that I always associated Nikki with, but also a sweet disposition. I’m just- ugh I’m obsessed.

After all your marvellous and complex posts about Celeborn, I just wanted to add a silly little thing.
SPOILER FOR 1899 (NETFLIX) AND INTELRUDE IN PRAGUE
I think that, if they must cast someone in that role, the perfect choice would be Aneurin Barnard.
First, because he already worked with Clark in Interlude in Prague, in which they have a love story that ends tragically (very tragically) and The personal history of David Copperfield. In Interlude they even meet at a ball!! Coincidence?? I don't think so, lol
(he play a goofy Mozart, here)
We met in a glade of flowers. I was dancing and he saw me there Galadriel, 1x07
Second, he is the perfect "husband who stays on the background while his strong-willed wife flirts with the mysterious handsome co-protagonist"
Here (1899) she, Maura, doesn't even remember who he is, neither that they have a son; she is too preoccupied to solve the mysteries on the ship they are in (is more complicated than that, btw) with the captain (Eyk, in the gif below) she barely knows, whom she (probably, but we'll never know because Nteflix cancelled it, sigh) has a cosmic connection with (ring a bell?)
I mean, imagine this
with this
He's perfetc for the role!
#he'll spend the time following Galadriel#while she'll be busy with Sauron's mind calls#pls amazon#I just had this in my mind for a while#at least he has chemistry with Clark#don't take it seriously#silly post#sorry#I miss 1899#saurondriel#haladriel#aneurin barnard#1899 netflix#trop#galadriel#celeborn

A Game of Revenge and Loyalty - Chapter 8
GIF by aneurins-barnard
Pairing: Stiorra Uhtredsdottir/Sigtryggr Ivarson
Summary: The career academy may have taught them how to win the Hunger Games, but nothing of how to win the game of love. A forbidden love becomes more complicated as they quickly learn, the Hunger Games were not the only thing they signed up for when they decided to volunteer.
AKA - It's a Hunger Games AU! Mentor/Mentee vibes. Career vibes. - But not in the way you might imagine! TONS of angst but a promised happy-ish ending.
Trigger Warnings: DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT!!! HG Canon typical violence and atrocites. TLK Canon typical violence and atrocities. Better tags on AO3, with each chapter having a content warning drop down for those who do not wish to be spoiled.
Chapter 8 Now Available on AO3

Do you have any fancasts for the characters?
Yes...some... Maybe more like, "I think they get the general vibe..." I don't know if many of these are common in the fandom...
First off, Hannah Waddingham for Marlene McKinnon.
Either the age she is now or older... The vibes... The muscular arms...
For James, you'll notice I draw him differently basically every time. He is SO DIFFICULT for me to pinpoint.
For a young James, for a long time, I was imagining Kedar Williams Stirling. So much of him in that show Sex Education feels like James to me.
Also this photo of Vivek Dhiman is very James...
And also this model for James that I found on Pinterest (I don't...actually know who this is...):
For Bellatrix, sorry, I just never got into HBC as her. But uhhh...definitely Monica Bellucci for Bellatrix...
For Regulus, Aneurin Barnard. He just does sad, pathetic baby boy so well...
For Sirius... Ummm.......and you know Sirius is just impossible to cast. How do you even find the right man??? Well. I think the problem was that the right man for the role was already cast in Harry Potter...
I really think Jason Isaacs would have been an amazing Sirius... When I watched Peter Pan (2003) when I was in middle school, Jason Isaacs' Captain Hook changed my brain chemistry...
I mean... I would never suggest Jason Isaacs shouldn't have played Lucius Malfoy, obviously, but I think he would have played Sirius just as well. At least... Sirius in the Shrieking Shack is played by Jason Isaacs...

this might be blasphemy to a war & peace fan such as yourself (in which case, i apologise) but the only war & peace content i've come into contact with is the bbc mini series from 2016 and i was just wondering what you thought of that? i remember thoroughly enjoying it (i do love james norton, aneurin barnard, and callum turner), but i have no idea how faithful/good the adaptation is. i was just curious about your thoughts :)
Oh boy. Ok, well first, I'm really flattered that you're asking, honestly. I'm just one person with an opinion after all lol. But ok, if you're up for a longer read (and don't mind negative reviews too much) I did reaction/review posts as I watched. That will give you a pretty detailed overview of my thoughts, though mind that they're definitely coming from the POV of someone who loves the book and is watching an adaptation as an adaptation not it's own independent thing.
I was always so into the book that I really couldn't imagine how watching this show as an independent thing would feel. As an adaptation...I didn't hate it entirely? But it my second-to-last favorite adaptation, maaaybe tied with the 1970s BBC adaptation. The only one I like less is the 1950s US movie. (The ones I always recommend are the Soviet one, if you want something super faithful but don't mind something very is Very Clearly An Old Movie In Every Way or the 2007, which takes a lot more liberties but is relatively modern and fun as it's own thing, and I think is faithful in spirit and characterizations for the most part let's not talk about 2007 Anatole despite not always being super plot-faithful.)
The 2016 does have it's virtues I suppose, but everything I can think of, I can think of another adaptation that did it better. Faithfulness to plot isn't really it's problem, granted. It's actually quite faithful to actual plot points/beats and has some minor characters other adaptations skip (Boris, Berg). But it's baffling to me in its many instances of re-writing canon scenes that didn't need to be at all. The casting is very meh. The only actors I think fit their parts truly well from the major characters are the ones for Pierre, NIkolai (despite being blonde), Sonya and Marya. Granted, Middleton wasn't so much a badly cast Helene as just the part was poorly written and maybe directed. I like Turner and he's not a bad Anatole either, tbf, but again....this was not the right casting decision, especially when you have Norton as Andrei Bolkonsky. But it's not just the casting. The characterizations also often felt off in a really weird way that can be hard to articulate and describe overall??
The pacing was way too fast. Let's not talk about the costumes.
hnjdgl So yea tl;dr: it's not the worst thing I've seen and if I hadn't read the book I'd probably enjoy it fine, but as an adaptation, while hitting a lot of plot points and being relatively accurate in terms of those, it leaves a lot to be desired imo.

Hi, Cat! I hope you're doing well. I'm looking for a Fc for a character who in canon is described as tall, with black hair to his shoulders, having a "noble bearing", and deep and thoughtful grey eyes "clear as a flame". His age is never given, but he's likely in his 20s and possibly into the early 30s? I was originally thinking of using Alexander Dreymon in his Uhtred role, as he was what I imagined reading the book. But I'd like other options too, if you can think of anyone. I'll also take blue eyes, and someone in Alex's age range as well given they look young. Period or fantasy resources would also be great if at all possible. Thanks so much, I know this might be a lot, so I'm hoping it doesn't give you too much trouble. I hope you have a great day!
Aneurin Barnard (1987) - The White Queen - has shorter hair.
Cody Fern (1988) - has lighter hair.
Joey Batey (1989) - The Witcher - has lighter hair.
Ryan Corr (1989) - House of the Dragon.
César Domboy (1990) - Outlander - has lighter hair.
Jacob Collins-Levy (1992) - The White Princess - has lighter hair.
Alex Høgh Andersen (1994)
Thomas Doherty (1995) - Invitation has shorter hair.
Jonah Hauer-King (1995) Ashkenazi Jewish / English - The Little Mermaid has shorter hair.
Hey anon! I don't watch much fantasy/period media but I think Ryan and Aneurin despite the latter having shorter hair would be good matches too based on your description!

Welcome to NEVER RPG! Please send in your url within 48 hours. Be sure to look over our checklist & check out our past tasks in case any of them spark your interest. We hope you enjoy, or at least survive, your time on the island!
Welcome to the island, HARPER! You’ve been accepted as VICTOR BRAXTON with the faceclaim of Aneurin Barnard.
I know there is a certain smallfolk who is going to be positively salivating when they see that Victor will be stepping onto our little gruesome stage! I am so thrilled that you decided to apply for Victor because words simply cannot express how much I adore every single aspect of your interpretation of him. 'He is rotting from the inside out, his body turning foul and putrid as the very thing that kept him alive slowly drowns him, filling his lungs and eating him from the inside out as his body shreds itself, lesions he will never see coating his organs. And yet, despite that, he is permitted to remain on the ship, sailing it however far he can before going the other way again'. You are so masterful with gothic horror and I can't imagine anyone better suited to bring our sailing master to (a doomed) life!
UPDATE: Charlie's face claim has been changed to Hunter Doohan.

I haven't seen it yet but I'll look it up.
WELL listen, while that's not how I picture him at all, I can see why people would imagine it

1 year of dunkirk
here goes a cringey post but I can’t believe its been a year since dunkirk came out, I remember watching it for the first time and sobbing (then went another 6 times and done the same). I met a lot of people through the movie and thinking back to the time the movie came out was such a good time in my life. It made me appreciate film making and fall in love with acting even more. The acting in the film was amazing and they all deserve more recognision for their parts as they done them incredibly well, and lets be honest my head was up all their arses after it cause theyre all amazing. I dont know why i felt the need to write this just the movie means a lot to me and im a mess at the fact its been a year already. Love they boys
