Rewatching the Power of Two and Prue and Phoebe say something along the lines of how this magical world was opened up to them and they've resigned themselves to it doing this for a reason, and Phoebe suggests to Andy that there was a reason he discovered it as well. Additionally, there's the part where he's able to hear Prue as a spirit, even though he logically shouldn't.
And I'm kinda thinking about it, and I really wish that Andy was kept for after season one (for specific plot potential now tho instead of just me loving him). I mean, you could definitely expand on that stuff to build it up, especially since he and Prue have that soulmatism thing going on.
Inspired by the part where he tells Prue that he doesn't want to come home to demons, it'd have been interesting if he was actually also a witch that came into his powers super late, which is why he a) discovered it existed and b) could hear Ward.
Alternatively, have him be some other kind of magical being. (Not necessarily the Whitelighter route, although I do kind have this minor theory that he might've been a Future Whitelighter that the Elders decided against making a Whitelighter bc it would've caused issues since he definitely would have gone back to the sisters, or at least Prue, and they already had their hands fill with the Piper/Leo mess without adding to it.) I mean, an Empath or a Prophet might've been interesting! Ooh, or a Firestarter? Something that isn't quite witchy but still magical.
Even if you did just keep him totally mortal, I just feel like it was a bit of a wasted opportunity to kill him off like that, especially because he had a good dynamic with Prue and it's not as if we got any really good love interests for her later on. Additionally, it'd have been nice to see him have a friendship with Piper and Phoebe and ground them in their mortal lives a bit as someone who is a childhood friend. Idk, just thoughts.

gods though, there's this like. tragic poetry in the symmetry of andy and prue's deaths. they're like inverse mirrors of each other. andy dies because he loved prue so much he could not keep himself from trying to save her, and in the end it is only by his death that prue and her sisters and the power of three are all able to be spared. he takes the blow that had killed one of the others every time, and they are able to break the time loop but can't bring him back.
andy died to save prue and her sisters. he would have wanted it that way.
prue dies protecting an innocent. she is at her most enraged, emotional, and destructive prior to the reset--fighting off an entire SWAT team just to keep them away from her sister's dead body. refusing to accept her death. she's the oldest, she's the protector, it should have been her--and then it was. because tempus reset time, and leo couldn't get there in time to save her. but he could save piper.
prue would have wanted it that way.
it gets me so fucking emotional and like, irl reasons behind why prue never shows up again in the show aside, the only thing that really keeps me going about it all is knowing that andy was waiting for her when she got to the afterlife. they were happy together, finally. at peace. died for the people they loved, in place if those they always swore to protect. the most tragic form of soulmatism imaginable. it hurts so bad.

posted this on ig and decided to share it here2.
note: I don’t feel hate towards the reboot, I simply don’t care if it exists or not. I’m a huge original girl since kindergarten and there’s nothing anyone can do about it :) I saw this idea and simply decided to give it a try.
Even with all the flaws, I like how it turned out even though I’ll probably re-do it later.

Look all I'm sayin is Andy from ep 1 who visited occult shops on his own and researched witchcraft out of interest would have been so down with Prue being a witch. Like he grew up around their magic even if he doesn't remember it.

Okay okay, but full angsty merlin fic idea rn (or not angsty? Depends on end direction ig) similar to 1x08 of the og charmed, where merlin casts a 24-hour truth spell to catch the villain of the week, the caveat of the spell being that no one but the caster remembers the truths told and revealed during the time the spell is in effect, and merlin takes it as an opportunity at the 22nd hour to see how arthur would react to his magic (and they also have to tell the truth; this spell affects everyone equally) and ofc with only 2 hours to process the result would not be good and he just kind of takes it as proof that he won’t be accepted; bonus (modeled after a later charmed episode), when arthur finds out about merlin’s magic for real, and he asks why merlin never told him and he says he did and arthur’s confused and upset but then gets angry when he learns what merlin means by that and that he only got 2 hours to react.
Bonus angst if, while the spell is in effect he also tells gwen and/or gwaine or one of the other knights and has a blissful day of being seen and accepted only to lose it, and he refuses to tell them for real while arthur is still in the dark
This is a mess of a post, but do you guys see my vision?

Something that I feel a lot of fans forget when they get angry at Phoebe for refusing to help Cole in the Wasteland is that he's not just asking her to save him. Despite saying that the Source is gone, he very intentionally still asks her to be evil. That's not me being dramatic or anything either because that's very explicitly canon. Phoebe, even as a Charmed One, doesn't have the power to resurrect Cole. As a good witch, she just physically (magically?) can't; it's not something within her abilities. (Obviously, otherwise, she and Piper would've resurrected Prue.)
The only method that Cole gives her to save him is the Grimoire. Y'know, the book that requires you to be evil to even touch it, much less use it. That's not something that you can trick; she would have to become evil again to even use it. He knows that, even acknowledges it to Phoebe in the Wasteland. She literally tells him that she won't use dark magic again, acknowledging it as evil. Cole isn't like oh, forgot about that! No, he asks her if she wouldn't use it "even for us." He knows what that would entail and what that would require Phoebe to do.
That isn't even getting into what the spell itself would require. This part, admittedly, is speculation but with the Grimoire being the Grimoire and resurrection like that being so rare and difficult, I have a hard time believing that the spell or ritual wouldn't have involved killing innocents. (Personal headcanon is that the spell calls for at least one heart personally. We see with Tuatha in That Old Black Magic that she uses a human heart to disempower witches. Something much worse would logically be required for a resurrection spell.) Just asking Phoebe even retrieve the Grimoire, much less use it, is bad.
As for later, she is still planning on giving up her powers, so it's not as if she'll be able to discover some other method to save him. She won't be Charmed anymore. And while, yes, the Angel of Destiny gives them some time to make this decision, there's still a time limit on how long they can take this option. Maybe with more time, Phoebe would have been able to figure out a way to save him without the Grimoire. However, it'd have required her to stay chained to a destiny that she no longer wanted and give up the future that she, and Piper, wanted: one free of magic, pain, loss, etc. So, yeah, she simply doesn't have the time, resources, or ability to save him without the Grimoire (which still isn't an option anyways). And by the time that she and Piper decide that they want to remain as witches, Cole has already freed himself, so it's a moot point anyways.
I mean, genuinely, in this situation, what did people want Phoebe to do? She didn't refuse to save Cole; she literally could not save him from the Wasteland. (And this is without delving into the argument about if Phoebe should save him or is obligated to save Cole anyways, which is a completely different question involving their relationship, choices, and morality.)

i love andy and darryl so much btw. and andy's intro in the show being like, not necessarily a believer but into the 'weird' shit being kind of a precursor to him being drawn into the world of magic--a world he'd always been kind of on the outskirts of, as we see when the girls go back in time and little andy is playing with them before they had their magic bound--and specifically into prue's orbit.
it makes what happens later, with prue using that spell to find out if andy could accept her and him not being able to give her the answer she wants because he only had like 12 hours to think about it before the spell ended, so much more tragic. especially since once he finds out for real, he does accept her. all of her. he dies for her. he would have lived for her, if only she would let him. 😭😭😭
also i think the moment i first fell in love with andy trudeau was this moment in the pilot, when darryl says the cat was scratching the hell outta everyone else and he just scoops her up and she lets him and loves him. that man is a KEEPER

To Call a Lost Sister
Prue Halliwell Appreciation Week - Day 7: Free Choice.
Prue and Paige.
Tumblr media
Once her initial anger wore off, Prue knew she had to do whatever she could to bring her baby sister home. Read below the cut or on Ao3.
Author's Note: You may notice that this ficlet does not follow the established canon of my ficlet from Day 1. That is because I was trying my best to recreate the Charmed Writer's Room.
When you danced with death every day, it was natural to imagine what that eventual day would be like. Prue held onto the idea of a heartfelt reunion with her mother and grandmother, maybe even Andy as well. Unfortunately, it didn’t go quite so well.
Unaware of what new abilities she now possessed as a spirit, Prue didn’t know how she wisped away from them, but she knew why. She thought Mom and Grams would understand how vulnerable Piper and Phoebe are now, and how badly she needed to go back to help them. ‘Reassuring’ her with news of a secret sister wasn’t the support she wanted or needed. They didn’t need a stranger, they needed her.
Alone and furious, the sudden sensation of hands on her shoulders grounded her again. She recognised their owner without turning around as his familiar scent washed over her.
Andy squeezed her shoulders comfortingly. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to meet you,” he said. “Your Grams wouldn’t let me.”
Any anger that dissipated at Andy’s presence resurfaced at his words. Prue scoffed. “Yeah, she’s too focused on trying to control my destiny.”
She looked over her shoulder, turning around as she spoke. “Did you know?”
“Know what…?”
Taking his answer as genuine, she explained. “Mom had another baby she had to give up. And now they’re acting like that fact is supposed to solve everything.”
“How?”
“By reforming the Charmed Ones. Continuing the Power of Three. But they don’t understand. They’re too vulnerable right now. Emotionally and magically. Finding this sister may solve the magical problem but it just worsens the other.”
Andy sighed, a hand coming up to cradle Prue’s cheek. “They’re big girls now, Prue. They’ll be okay.”
“No. Piper’s powers are out of control and Phoebe is so focused on Cole—”
“They’ll be okay.”
His words were firm but so full of reassurance. Looking up into his eyes, Prue was struck by just how much they connected and how much she missed him. How could anyone else have ever compared to him? And it wasn’t just that. She wanted to trust him—Andy would never lie to her. But… her sisters…
“They need me.” She struggled to keep a level voice.
“Yes, they do.” Andy agreed. “But you aren’t powerless here. You can still help them.”
“How…?”
“You’re a smart girl, you’ll figure it out.” Andy said, planting a kiss on her forehead before wisping away, leaving Prue to consider his words.
Closing her eyes, her mind drifted to her sisters, the sound of Piper’s voice soon filling her ears. Focusing on it further, the scene soon came to view in her mind’s eye. Piper, casting the To Call a Lost Witch spell, surrounded by herbs and candles and—the Book of Shadows.
That was it. She opened her eyes with a gasp, a rush of adrenaline flowing through her. The Book. Grams used it all the time as a spirit, didn’t she? Surely she could do the same?
Prue began to pace, thinking up a plan. The spell Piper was using was perfect, but she needed to rework it… She had combined spells before, she could do it again now.
Her spell ready, she hurriedly tried to get back to Piper—Prue hoped that using the Book in front of her would help her accept what was to happen. However when she returned, Phoebe was nudging Piper from the attic, the Book now closed on the table.
With a breath, Prue tried to channel her power through to the Book, opening it to the page Piper had been on. Another, nervous breath. Now for the spell.
In this night and in this hour, I call upon the Ancient Power, Return our sister to her home, No longer may she stand alone, Blood to blood, I summon thee, Reconstitute the Power of Three.
Immediately after the last word of the spell was spoken, white lights began to swirl around the book, and the pages flipped uncontrollably until the Book closed itself with a thud, the triquetra symbol on the front glowing. As the glow dissipated, Prue felt an indescribable feeling within, as though chains she didn’t know she were carrying were cut free. Her tether to the Power of Three had broken, she realised. And as the scene faded from her view, Prue knew that this was what her sisters needed. Their bond as sisters would forever remain, but their bond as Charmed Ones needed to be broken.
And with that bond broken, they had the power to create a new bond with their new sister.
Andy was right; they’ll be okay.
