yeah I'll be returning Mehrunes Dagon to the store. Last straw was discovering that the car is not compatible with Android devices. It's got ApplePlay but not Android Auto. I'd have to buy a new stereo system to play music from my phone... which I was already wrestling with because I could NOT get my iTunes playlists to import to any Android music apps.

so yeah Android has Apple Music now, but did you know that you have to pay a subscription on the Android version to access your own music? YUP.

So yeah looks like I'll keep being Apple's bitch for a while longer... my fucking kingdom for an Android music app that has fucKING FOLDERS FOR YOUR PLAYLISTS WHY IS ITUNES THE ONLY APP THAT DOES THAT IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2024

do you have a favourite sibling? I only have one sibling. They were the catalyst for the recent family drama, and let's just say if I ever gave them the benefit of the doubt in the past, then those days are long expired.

apple or android? I don't think I've ever owned an Apple product.

what colour is the blanket/quilt on your bed? The comforter is light gray. I have several other blankets as well, and those are a variety of colors. One has hunting dogs in an autumn forest, the second has a group of kittens, and the last has a cardinal and holly leaves (kind of wintery/Christmas-themed).

any languages you want to learn? A couple visited the animal shelter the other day and they only spoke Spanish, which got me thinking - yet again - that it might be a good idea to at least learn the basics.

is maths easy or hard? I was decent at it up to a point, but as new concepts built upon my relatively flimsy foundation, things eventually started to crumble. I kind of wonder how I would do now, though - like would my adult brain be better at grasping those concepts, or would it still lead to the same inevitable end?

do you play basketball? I don't.

ever prank called someone? I went through a brief prank calling phase as a kid. I went a little too far, though, and it resulted in the one and only time I've ever been grounded.

ever tried carrot juice? I haven't.

what's an unusual/weird food combo you like? My dad used to eat pickle and peanut butter sandwiches. They aren't something I eat often - I think I've only tried them a couple of times - but the flavor combo wasn't bad. Aside from that, I really can't think of anything too unusual.

favourite milkshake flavour? Maybe something with coffee or peanut butter.

favourite type of milk? I use almond milk most often (in addition to coffee creamer), but if I was going to drink it plain, then I would go with whole milk.

would you rather wear a suit or dress? A suit.

best year of your life? Much of my childhood was pretty good, so maybe a year in there somewhere. And 2011 was great for backpacking-related highlights (I'm really going to miss those days) but was otherwise kind of shit. I think I'm going to go with 2023, though - it started off slowly, but ended on a high note that continued into 2024. There were some rough patches along the way, but nothing anywhere close to what I experienced in the decade prior to it.

how loud do you like your music in the car? Loud enough to hear, but not so loud that you can't comfortably carry on a conversation.

prefer to write or read? Read. These days, surveys are pretty much the only form of "writing" I do.

best thing that's happened today? Probably my therapy appointment. Getting everything off my chest that I've been carrying around for the past couple of weeks was nice. Also praying for my ability to set strong boundaries before a little awkwardness turns into a whole lotta awkwardness.

1) "Blood // Water" by grandson

This has been my most repeated song this week. With everything going on in the world over the last, uh, forever, scream-singing it in my car has been rather therapeutic. I've even added it to my karaoke repertoire for when I'm in A Mood and feeling kinda crunchy about it all. I put it on when I'm angry with the world and daydreaming about a hypothetical world revolution.

2) "Feed The Machine" by Poor Man's Poison

More of the same. It's got very bourgeoisie vs. proletariat, anti-capitalist overlords, and anti-ologarchy vibes going on, and it speaks to my rage at the system I find myself living in. Plus, it's just a bop! It always gets stuck in my head, and it's just fun, kinda. I like the band's sound and overall vibe; everything I've listened to by them has been really great.

3) "Welcome to the Internet" by Bo Burnham

So I absolutely love this song. I absolutely love this whole special, both the film and the album. I wasn't a Burnham fan before this, though I was familiar with his music/comedy and was fond of a couple of songs, but INSIDE squished my brain inside out (ha) and turned me into jello. It's one of, if not THE best musicomedy or comedy specials in my heart. Plus, The Internet/the assembled websites as a villain/s is just such a fun thing to think about, and it's inspired me to work on crafting a drag number with an unfortunately elaborate costume with 3D printed custom retractable claws.

4) "Murder at the Bingo Hall" by Amigo the Devil [live video]

This absolutely fucks. The frenetic guitar, the kinda manic-touched quality of his voice as he's singing, the rather absurd and simple scene for such an energetic song to be written about - it all comes together into something insanely memorable. This video of his live performance really highlights all that for me, too. It's a super fun song, and it makes it very easy to get into his music. The drive of the guitar and his slapping accompaniment is pretty common throughout his music, and the imagery here is very descriptive without being overly heavy, which I feel is one of his great strengths throughout each song. Highly recommend!

5) "Primo Victoria" by Sabaton

This is just a big "fuck you" to Nazis everywhere. Written about Operation Overload and D-Day/the storming of the beaches in 1944, it's super metal and just gets my blood racing. My steering wheel and dashboard have each taken such beatings from my not-so-air drumming! It always makes me amped up whenever I have it on. This past week had it in especially heavy rotation. It's the first track on my "No Nazis in Valhalla" playlist. Fun fact: the a capella band Van Canto made a kickass drums-and-vocals (almost a capella) cover of this song, and the singer of Sabaton, Joakim Brodén, sang the lead on this! It's stripped down by nature of the musical approach but is no less awesome!

6) "Automatonic Electronic Harmonics" by Steam Powered Giraffe

Who doesn't love steam-punky bands? Who doesn't love androids and automatons? I love them so much! SPG is a fictional band of automatons built by a robotics engineer/scientist in attempt to win the heart of his love interest, a fellow scientist. He was unsuccessful, and he continued his research while feuding with a social and professional rival who had also been wooing his crush, and ultimately they went to war. After a long existence as weapons and soldiers, the band has since returned to their roots in entertainment as comedians, actors, and musicians.

IRL, SPG is known musically for their harmonies. A couple of their songs are less smooth in that regard but on the whole, their harmonies really show off how much of an influence and inspiration The Bee Gees have been to them as a band. Those harmonies get really elegant, emotional, and tight!

7) "The Fine Print | The Outer Worlds Song" by The Stupendium

I'm a sucker for a pop-culture song, and though I haven't played The Outer Worlds, this definitely scratches that itch and has put the game on my wish list for when I get rich. But like, it's directly attacking capitalism and its predatory exploitation of the working class and even poorer people in order to further capital gains. Again, I'm not familiar with the game, but as far as I understand it, its premise is built around a work colony that people go to and then are effectively indentured to the company. The song has made me really eager to see how it's viewed in-game and what the common views are of the power dynamics there.

alright. this is Dean Winchester's little Carnage Collective status report. putting it under a cut because it's probably gonna be long and disorganized, but this is my little report on what I've noticed, things that seem significant to me, and general system info.

so we don't know exactly when Seb's earliest alters formed, but we consider the birth of our system to be when I split, which was somewhere around the end of August. I had been conscious alongside Seb for weeks leading up to that, but he didn't realize I was more than just an imaginary friend lol. Seb is missing entire chunks of his memories, especially in early childhood.

we seem to be fictive and non-human heavy. not sure why, that's just how it is. Sebastian himself doesn't even consider himself human anymore. as of this post we have Sebastian (vampiric fallen angel), Dean Winchester (human, Supernatural introject), Party Poison (human, Killjoys introject), Mercy/Massacre (angelic being), Karma (cyborg), Connor (android, Detroit: Become Human introject), Klaus Hargreeves (human, Umbrella Academy introject) and Zachariel (angelic cat being). as of right now, most of our members are not really interested in fronting since there's been so much stress lately. our most active people right now are me, Poison and Klaus. everyone in the system is some kind of gay, trans or acespec. those of us who have set ages all seem to be close to young adulthood (although I'm a little older, closer to 30). something that almost all of us have in common is a fear of being alone. I assume this is related to Seb's past. but for this reason, we usually have at least two people up so we don't get lonely.

almost all of us (or at least those who are more active in the front and interact with the world) have personal items that we've dug up from Seb's stuff and claimed as our own. we refer to them as totems. examples include my clothes and jewelry, Connor's coin, Poison's pants, etc. pretty much everything else is shared, because luckily we all get along.

we seem to have attachments to the music that was being played in the days leading up to each of us forming, and of course our tastes in music vary anyway. some of us have little to no interest in music or media in general, and some of us have personal anthems or playlists that we sometimes use to help ground ourselves.

I have access to almost all of Seb's memories, or at least the ones he could recall. because of this I'm able to kinda give new headmates a sort of mental tour so we're all a little more familiar with the life we've been thrown into. helps us blend in better when we interact with people who don't know we're a system because we can just pretend to be Seb. some of us have source memories as well, and some of us have source trauma that's completely separate from Seb's. sometimes we'll have memory gaps (or something, not good at proper system terms yet) but the beauty of us using tumblr is that we can scroll through each other's blogs to catch up on what's happening and all stay somewhat on the same page. we rely heavily on this platform for our self expression, which is why we all have separate blogs instead of sharing one (if you aren't following them, I suggest that you do. all tagged in the pinned post).

our innerworld or headspace or whatever is still a little abstract. sometimes it's pretty much just a void or foggy expanse. sometimes we can see the front room as if it's an actual room. the interior and furniture seems to take after the Phantomhive house from Black Butler, which is interesting considering none of us are from that source. there's also a large fish tank which appeared alongside Connor. for the first while when it was just Seb and I, our innerworld took the form of my Impala, and we still use a lot of car metaphors and terminology to describe our positions in the system and fronting and all that. we can hear each other's actual voices and see each other's actual forms on the inside, which is also really cool. tallest member is Mercy, at roughly 8 and a half feet, and our smallest is Zach, who is around 4 and a half feet. those of us who are fictives are pretty much identical to our source appearances, with a few minor differences like slight differences in height or minor physical attributes.

roles are still being sorted out. Poison and I seem to be gatekeepers, as we can both somewhat control who fronts. Connor and Zach are not actual children, but we consider them littles to some degree just because of their personalities. Mercy formed as a caretaker for me, but throughout the fallout of our little cut and run situation, she kinda turned into a creature of vengeance. she and Karma are both like that. angry on behalf of Seb or the system, and violent towards those who are responsible for our trauma.

our name, Carnage, came from Seb's old tumblr URL, and we've adopted the anatomical heart as our little symbol.

I personally find it extremely interesting that Seb's eating disorder (which we are trying to recover the body from) did not carry over to any of us. the body is used to eating badly, but none of us besides Seb have a conscious desire to engage in any disordered eating behaviors.

all in all, so far we seem to be pretty good. or at least it's not too hard to handle. some days are rougher, but we lean on each other and our friends here for support. we're very fortunate that everyone gets along and cooperates. Poison and I have become leaders (he calls us the parents of the system lol) and everyone seems to respect our leadership. Sebastian is unfortunately still dormant, although we catch bits of influence from him here and there, so we at least know he's still in here somewhere.
