Andrew Taake’s legal troubles might not be over — even though the Texas man was just pardoned by President Donald Trump after being convicted of spraying police with bear spray and using a metal whip to assault them while they defended the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

According to a review of public court records and confirmed by the Houston district attorney’s office on Monday, Taake is still considered “at large” for the alleged 2016 crime of soliciting a minor online under 17 years old with the expectation that the individual “would engage in sexual contact” with him.

Nearly three years ago, a young professional in the nation's capital was sitting in her apartment after the Jan. 6 attack and saw that the FBI was looking for help identifying the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol. So she opened up the Bumble dating app, changed her political beliefs to conservative and got to swiping.

Her strategy, she said, was saying "Wow, crazy, tell me more” to guys on repeat until they gave her enough for her to send their information to the FBI.

This goddamned hero turned in about a dozen names to the FBI, and one of them was just convicted.

One example is all the revisionist books, like the Roald Dahl books that were censored and rewritten. In the past, it used to be only conservative Christians/Republicans who wanted to censor everything from porn and reproductive rights to music, but now so-called liberals are doing such. What about Taake and black metal bands being censored and blocked from performing, but not by the religious right but by the so-called left?

Another example is all the elite universities blocking certain keynote speakers when, in the past, universities were a place of discussion. Some have censored Noam Chomsky. Also, pro-Palestinian supporters and students are not allowed to speak out against Israel at said universities... As far celebs, people like Russell Brand and Jon Stewart have been silenced by YouTube and Apple TV for speaking out against the Biden administration and Apple's involvement in child labor in the Congo region. Alice Walker has been censored. Rashida Tlaib has been silenced by many House Democrats and speakers. Just and on. There are countless examples that you can look into yourself without me boring anyone here. I highly recommend the "Blocked & Reported" podcast and Andrew Doyle's book, The New Puritans.

I'll just finish with this, I used to consider myself as a liberal but the left no longer represents me, nor does the right, of course. A lot of people feel rudderless in this political climate. It seems like the elites on both sides of the aisle are corrupt AF and are trying to silence anyone or anything that deviates from speech and ideas they deem acceptable. The political elites and their religious lobbyists sow seeds of discord. They don't want us to be open-minded and tolerant. They want us to fight amongst ourselves while they remove more of our freedoms and embroil us in their never-ending wars.

Taake's "willingness to physically assault officers with bear spray and a metal whip, while on bond and conditions of release for the felony offense of solicitation of a minor, demonstrate by clear and convincing evidence that he poses a concrete threat both to the community and to specific individuals,” a federal magistrate judge wrote, bolding for emphasis, in ordering Taake detained until trial.

Of course a guy like that would be so proud of participating in a violent mob that he’d brag about it to a strange woman online with minimal ego stroking. I salute you, anonymous woman, for doing your patriotic duty with such aplomb. Ooooh, baby: you are so talented…and they are sooooo dumb.

A Jan. 6 rioter who was pardoned by President Trump and released from prison last week is being sought on preexisting charges in Texas of soliciting a minor online.

The district attorney in Harris County, Texas, said on Tuesday that his office was searching for Andrew Taake, who at the time of the Capitol riot was awaiting trial on charges brought in 2016 of using a messaging app to pursue a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old.

A few months after the attack at the Capitol, he told a woman on the dating app Bumble that he had been involved in the riot, and she turned him in to the F.B.I.

Mr. Taake, 36, later pleaded guilty to attacking police officers outside the Capitol with bear spray and a metal whip and was sentenced in June to more than six years in prison. He was freed from federal prison in Colorado last week, not long after Mr. Trump issued a sweeping grant of clemency to all of the nearly 1,600 people charged in connection with the storming of the Capitol.

The man’s release took place despite the fact that the district attorney’s office had sent prison officials a copy of the open warrant for Mr. Taake’s arrest in Harris County five days before his pardon was issued.

Sean Teare, the district attorney, said in a statement that his office was currently searching for Mr. Taake to make him face the charges of solicitation of a minor.

“Rearresting individuals, like Taake, who were released with pending state warrants, will require significant resources,” the statement said. “Know that we are already in the process of tracking Taake down, as he must answer” for the 2016 charges.

Mr. Taake was not the only pardoned Jan. 6 defendant who was released from custody by Mr. Trump and then drew scrutiny for other crimes.

A Florida man, Daniel Ball, was arrested last week on charges of illegally possessing a firearm as a felon. He had just been pardoned and released from jail in Washington on Jan. 6-related charges, including hurling an explosive device at officers protecting an entrance at the lower west terrace of the Capitol.

An indictment in Florida said that the weapon that Mr. Ball had illegally possessed was seized during a search of his home in May 2023 while he was being investigated in his Jan. 6 case.

In other riot cases, however, Mr. Trump’s clemency proclamation has created a measure of confusion. Judges, prosecutors and defense lawyers have struggled to determine whether the clemency covered only crimes related directly to the Capitol attack or whether the clemency also extended to crimes emerging from the inquiry into Jan. 6.

The proclamation said that pardons and sentence reductions were merited for people convicted of crimes “related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.”

On Tuesday, for example, federal prosecutors agreed to drop their efforts to detain Guy Wesley Reffitt — a Jan. 6 defendant who had already been pardoned for crimes related to the Capitol attack — on separate gun charges in Texas. Mr. Reffitt was convicted at the first trial arising from Jan. 6 of helping to lead the pro-Trump mob in its attack on the Capitol, and he was subsequently charged with illegally possessing an unregistered suppressor.

Late last week, federal officials sought to send another pardoned rioter, Daniel Wilson, back to prison, saying that even though Mr. Trump had granted him clemency on the conspiracy charges arising from the Capitol attack, Mr. Wilson had been found guilty in Kentucky on separate firearms offenses.

His lawyers argued that he should not have to return to prison immediately since the firearms charges arose from evidence seized in a search of his home on a warrant issued in connection with the Capitol attack.

On Tuesday, the judge overseeing the case of Mr. Wilson in Washington agreed that he could remain free until the issue of whether Mr. Trump’s pardons covered the firearms offense was resolved.

A man pardoned for his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021 riots at the Capitol has been released from federal prison – but now must face a local charge of soliciting a minor he picked up before the insurrection.

Andrew Taake, 36, of Houston, was among the more than 1,500 people pardoned for their participation in the riot. Taake in 2023 pleaded guilty to assaulting officers with a dangerous weapon, and last year was sentenced to more than 6 years in federal prison.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Friday that Taake is now considered wanted in connection to a 2016 online solicitation of a minor charge. He was not in custody as of Friday.

According to court documents, Taake was accused of soliciting a person he “believed to be younger than seventeen years of age” with the expectation there would be sexual contact. The charge is a third degree felony that is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
