our lady of perpetual sorrow: Est Gaudium in Dolore - There is Joy in Pain. (honestly this is tommy bowe's personal motto to me. no but i picked it bc tommy persevered despite all that he suffered

holy trinity: Conare Iterum Conare - Try Try Again. (this one is pretty on the nose BUT they're all about giving it their best shot even when they're the underdogs!! when they get knocked down they get up again! ain't nothing gonna bring us down!)

aquinas: Virtus in Culpa - Strength in Fault (their students are really, really intelligent and like. the best of the best. but that's because aquinas, though it's a school for academic excellence, is very relaxed with consequences for failure. like there's a lot of support for students who are struggling academically or behaviorally. we are only as strong as our faults!!)

st. george's: Esto Tuus Optimus - Be Your Best Self (once again they had it right there. be your mythical best!)

WHY I CHOSE THE SCHOOL NAMES:

(ive posted this before but im making this comprehensive!)

st. charles’ academy for boys: this is entirely based on spencer’s first name actually being charles LNDKNFLKNK like i knew i wanted to go with an all-boys school (as opposed to olops which is actually a co-ed school!) and i thought. “this is kinda funny.” and it was!

our lady of perpetual sorrow: this is actually - and i Did Not Know This - the catholic school from suite life of zack and cody SDFGHJK which means one of two things: 1. either i heard it there and it stuck in my brain and i didn’t realize OR 2. i just have the same brain cell as the suite life writers. i have no idea. but i chose that name bc, growing up in catholic school, i heard So Many ‘our lady of ___’ school names and i thought tommy, known Mental Illness actor, would enjoy 'perpetual sorrow’ as a nod to that knfkfnfk

holy trinity preparatory school: ah the easiest one tbh!! holy trinity because TRI. TRI bc there’s three of them and also it sounds like TRY. try guys! no more thought to it than that tbh.

aquinas academy: i went into it in more detail here, but basically st. thomas aquinas is the patron saint of college students - thus college humor, thus dropout!!

st. george: this one was a little more deep-cut!! i almost went with st. martha, the patron saint of the culinary arts, but i wanted their patron to encapsulate more of the crew rather than just the kitchen. even if it was josh’s world and we were all living in it. but basically, st. george is the patron saint of knights, cavalry, and armourers. he’s frequently depicted as slaying dragons and was often compared to many mythic heroes. therefore, you can consider st. george your official patron saint of mythicality!

SOME FUN FACTS THAT DIDN'T MAKE THE CUT:

damien is in the st. charles' choir which is why spencer plays guitar for them; he also does the school plays. he's a busy boy!

patrick is an altar boy and that's how he stole the communion wine

patrick and jeremy almost kissed when they got drunk off the communion wine and have NEVER talked about it

shayne is in the running to be valedictorian

chanse has a crush on tommy (and who can blame him.)

jackie does not do soccer and although she was at most of the games in iwks did NOT know what was going on

jackie also goes to public school bc i love her so she gets to win <3

i've mentioned this before but yes amanda and angela were on the same team in high school and were best friends (and..... you know. a little more than that maybe.)

tim is rock's calc tutor and it's not going well

if spencer had any input he would push for jeremy to be the next vc because he just has a soft spot for the guy and he thinks it would do him some good. but jeremy would rather die than be in charge of anything so <3

alex's hello kitty bandaids have nothing to do with like a ravenous love of hello kitty or anything - frankly they bought them because he thought they were cute and pink and sparkly. he didn't even realize they were hello kitty but that just makes them even better. they make All the players wear them when they can.

literally no one has told marcus who ian is so when he shows up at that one party he's just like. haha! who tf is this guy :) just smiling and nodding as if he knows what's going on but EXTREMELY confused by the stranger in jeremy's house

brennan took four years of latin as we know, but what you don't know is that tommy took four years of french and damien took four years of german! (spencer took the minimum requirement of spanish and that's it LKDNKNFLFKN)

a lot of the team member's relationship with religion fluctuates but ian specifically is like. agnostic-christian. where he's like "idk what's out there but the Idea of christianity is comforting." he's not sure what he thinks about god but he's cool with praying does this make sense

tommy has spencer in his phone as "charles" forever and ever bc he said so. what is spencer gonna do. stop him?

despite the ban on interactions between the two teams damien and keith have been buds/texting each other for years. they are buds to ME.

chanse is like. en route to play professionally. he's being scouted like right now. he wanted to go to like a Specialized sports high school but his parents insisted on keeping him in catholic school

Indians Rally In 10th To Stun Twins.

Twins 4 Indians 5 W-Gaddis (5-3) L-Henriquez (1-1)

The Minnesota Twins picked up a huge nailbiting win over the Indians last night to keep their Wild-Card lead last night. They returned to action tonight in Game 3. The Twins were ready from the start as Willi Castro led-off with a double to left and Matt Wallner singled. Carlos Correa hit a grounder to short that Brayan Rocchio bobbled. A run scored on the error and the Twins had a one-run lead before the Indians grabbed a bat. The Indians responded in the second when Josh Naylor crushed a Bailey Ober fastball out to right for a solo homer to tie the game at one. Bailey Ober and Tanner Bibee settled things down until the middle innings. Willi Castro was hit by a pitch and Matt Wallner singled to right. Carlos Correa reached on an infield singled, which scored a run. Bailey Ober sailed through six innings then Josh Naylor blasted a change-up out to right for a solo homer to even the game at two after seven frames. The bullpens held up at the end and we headed into extra innings. The Twins quickly loaded up the bases in the tenth. Carlos Correa knocked in a pair with a single to center to put the Twins back on top. Kyle Manzardo greeted Ronny Henriquez with a run-scoring single to center to inch Cleveland within a run. Andres Gimenez walked and Will Brennan singled home the game-tying run. Brayan Rocchio hit a walk-off single to right and the Indians stunned the Twins again.

-Final Thoughts- Bailey Ober pitched a great game and hardly got any run support for it. He went seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits with twelve strikeouts. Louie Varland had a 1-2-3 eighth, Jhoan Duran struck out two in the ninth, and Ronny Henriquez gave up three in 2/3 of an inning. Michael Tonkin didn't retire a batter in the tenth. I don't understand going to Ronny Henriquez in the tenth. He isn''t a strikeout guy and Michael Tonkin is a more veteran guy. If Griffin Jax and Cole Sands were unavailable then go to Tonkin. Matt Wallner and Carlos Correa had three hits each. The Twins hit 4-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Tomorrow, Simeon Woods Richardson faces Joey Cantillo in the series finale.

The Minnesota Twins are an American professional baseball team based in Minneapolis. The Twins compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) Central Division. The team is named after the Twin Cities moniker for the two adjacent cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. The franchise was founded in Washington, D.C., in 1901 as the Washington Senators. The team moved to Minnesota and was renamed the Minnesota Twins for the start of the 1961 season. The Twins played in Metropolitan Stadium from 1961 to 1981 and in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome from 1982 to 2009. The team has played at Target Field since 2010. The franchise won the World Series in 1924 as the Senators, and in 1987 and 1991 as the Twins.

Okay, I'm starting to panic a little.

We have a much bigger cushion in the standings this season, but 2-8 in our last 10 with key player injuries stretching out toward the horizon is sounding definite 2022 alarm bells. We're now 1-5 on a homestand I felt we had to go 5-4 on. A different thing seems to be going wrong every night, except the unclutch defense and awful situational hitting, which is constant.

The offense made Andre Pallante look like prime Greg Maddux (and then the bullpen made it worse). Julien had the worst possible timing to turn a game-ending double play into second and third, one out. Ober got shelled into an unrecoverable deficit in a game that never should've started on time. Duran has 1d4-1 pitches working on a given night and a bad roll killed any late momentum. The offense couldn't muster up meaningful run support for Festa's career outing (and then the bullpen made it worse).

Players have had good stretches over this run. Larnach's hitting genuinely well lately, and Wallner, Castro, Jeffers, Margot, and others have turned in solid games. Festa and Matthews looked good in their last outings, and Pablo was excellent in the one win. Jax is still Jax, and Sands has been solid for a while now. They just haven't put these components together into complete, winning games.

We need guys back from the IL. The roster we've been running with this month has fight and potential, but it's not enough. Our lone deadline acquisition threw 7 wild pitches in 4 weeks and got promptly DFA'd, and all our offseason reliever acquisitions are either DFA'd or Justin Topa. Ryan is guaranteed done for the season and Paddack is likely playoff-only. The lineup and defense sorely miss Correa and Buxton, or hell, even Lee.

29 games remaining, 4 against Cleveland, 3 against KC. 16 total against teams with losing records. A late series in Boston with potential tiebreaker implications. We're gonna find out a lot of things these next few weeks, one way or another.

Anysquared’s HOME NOT HOME Exhibit Opening is Saturday June 24 from 6pm–10pm, at Agitator Gallery, 3851 W Fullerton, Chicago. AnySquared’s HOME NOT HOME Exhibition investigates various themes, including: belonging/not belonging, freedom/captivity, safety/danger, comfort/discomfort, inclusive/exclusive, building/destroying, and place/displacement. Starting the day in Bordeaux Challenger was the doubles semifinal between first seeds Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Heliovaara against Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut. Both pairs are prominent doubles teams, with the former broke out last year and the latter reunited after Herbert’s injury last year (and other setbacks). The reunion here started with two victories against fourth seeds Andre Goransson/Ben McLachlan and Argentinean pair Guido Andreozzi/Guillermo Duran up to the quarterfinals en route to the semifinals.

To start this likely close match, Glasspool/Heliovaara broke to 2-0 at the expense of Mahut/Herbert’s forehand error (and consolidated) until two games later, where the French pair came up with a smash to create 2 break points before it was converted at the expense of Glasspool’s forehand error. Both pairs then stayed solid in both their service games and rallies (with five consecutive holds) before the end of the first set.

However, this set ended with an erratic service game from Mahut/Herbert’s part. The set point was created by Glasspool’s swift backhand return prior to its conversion 2 points later at the expense of a double fault. As a result, Glasspool/Heliovaara took the first set 7-5, while Mahut/Herbert took a medical timeout before the start of the second set.

Twins Take DH Opener From Tribe!

The Minnesota Twins opened up a huge seven-game homestand against the Indians and Royals this week. They were ready from the start on this Friday afternoon. Manny Margot led-off the first with a double and reached third on a flyball. Royce Lewis hit an RBI groundout to third and the Twins struck first. Carlos Santana added on in the second when he crushed a Joey Cantillo fastball out to left for a solo homer. This doubled the Twins lead to two after two frames. The Twins kept tacking on runs in the fourth as Ryan Jeffers belted a Joey Cantillo fastball that carried out to left for a solo homer. This put the Twins up 3-0 and Bailey Ober threw six shutout innings. The Indians got to the Twins bullpen in teh seventh when Andres Gimenez singled. Brayan Rocchio then smacked a Jorge Alcala slider out to right for a two-run homer. This pulled the Indians within a run, but the Twins responded in the bottom of the seventh. Max Kepler led-off with a double and Willi Castro singled. Kyle Farmer hit a sac fly to right and the Twins lead was back to two. Griffin Jax had a 1-2-3 eighth and Jhoan Duran struck out the side in the ninth as the Twins picked up the win today to start the doubleheader.

-Final Thoughts- Bailey Ober was very good today as he threw six shutout innings. He got out of some trouble in the sixth. He gave up two hits with two walks and nine strikeouts. Jorge Alcala gave up two runs in the seventh, Griffin Jax had a perfect eighth, and Jhoan Duran shut the door with a clean ninth. Carlos Santana led the way with two hits on the day. The Twins hit 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Alex Cobb will face Louie Varland in the nightcap.

When did you get into Drarry and why? Sometime near the middle/end of 2012. I was a Sirry person at first. Not that I didn’t think I’d like Drarry, but as far as writing, I figured everything with the pairing had probably already been written and so it would be arrogant of me to jump in and start writing them myself. (I had weird ideas idk.) I read a little Drarry here and there that year, but it was beta’ing Shelly’s hd_hols fic, Swish and Flick that first got me interested in reading Drarry.

Which Drarry fic hooked you? ignatiustrout’s ( @6balls ) Here’s the Pencil, Make It Work. It made me want to be a Drarry writer, like for real. It made me want to improve my writing in general and take it more seriously and see what I could do if I put more of myself into it. That fic is fucking amazing.

Top three A LOT favorite Drarry fics: This is an evil question. I need at least four because @bixgirl1 is going to get two spots just for herself. So yes, That Old Black Magic and In the Red (Let it be known that I could name eight more easy.) This is where it gets evil. Can I just name everything written by @shealwaysreads and @the-starryknight ?? And also birdsofshore?? Is that cheating? Can I sneak Modern Love by @tackytigerfic in too? I love exploring the choices we make, the ones that lead us into places of guilt, anguish, hopelessness, and the ones that lead us out of them. I love the idea that these two people can find each other in the worst of circumstances and be changed by one another.

I think @phoebe-delia mentioned about how she’s come to realize her best is enough through Drarry, and I feel similarly sometimes too.

Also enemies-to-lovers is and will always be SO HOT.

Ideal career for Harry? For Draco? Harry: lay-about. Seriously, I just want him to be enough as-is. But when he’s bored with that, how about teacher, or counselor. I’d love Harry as a Mind Healer.
