While we do not have official confirmation yet, showrunner Katharina Eyssen is currently preparing a third season of The Empress (2022).
We can see in her notes that we will probably meet Elisabeth's Hungarian lady-in-waiting Ida Ferenczy as well as Gyula Andrássy and a character named Konstantin. Another note hints at Crown Prince Rudolf and Archduchess Gisela being in the third season. Furthermore, we may explore Elisabeth going to Corfu alongside her mental health.

#a few more sisi thoughts#I'll do a proper review once I've actually finished the series#I'm quite liking how they portray FJ and the political side of things#it's very interesting#and will result in fic#but on the Sisi side of the story#like I'm surprisingly ok with a certain amount of historical inaccuracy#as long as it is reasonable#but I'm no longer convinced we are in the realm of reasonable#with the [redacted] visit#and the origins of Sisi's lady in waiting ....#but urgh FJ is a jerkface at times and I love it#the FJ pulling a sword on andrassy fic may be getting longer

‘Portrait of Geza Andrassy (1856-1938)’, as painted probably circa 1900 by Hungarian painter Gyula Benczur (1844-1920). Andrassy was a Hungarian industrialist turned politician, turned owner of different Hungarian national sports facilities. With a sequence of engagements with the public like that he sounds like some of the backers of modern sport that we now have. Does this make ‘sports washing’, restoring your reputation through competitive patriotic entertainment, older than we thought? As they print in exam papers ‘Discuss’.... Last but not least this painting was on show in Lviv in Ukraine, it may not be there now and online will be the easiest way of seeing it.
