What have been the most unhinged bg3 fics you’ve come across? By unhinged I mean explicit, gory, creatively messed up, the works. I’m looking for recs specifically for Durgetash if you’ve got any, but I’d try other pairings if anything really crazy comes to mind.

HELLO ANON sorry I was so late coming to this but let's do the Durgetash recs! I was made for this ask!

So let's start with NeverwinterThistle who wrote THE most gory Durgetash which was anonymous, but has been claimed: Ten Silver Pieces. But they also have other great works and I'd recommend them all, but for SO sexy and also on the edge of disturbing I'd go for An Obedient Butcher, a Beast on a Leash which changed me.

M4rkab has two insanely good fics, one with the slayer form!!! delicious delicious.

The fabulous @lamortwrites has loads of GREAT fics here and my favourite is lose the halo, no need to resist, but I love ALL of them, truly.

@anderstrevelyan wrote the incredible The Heart, which is delicious.

@say-lene has a LOT of good fic but for the ones that are explicit and explore some interestingly morally dubious subjects, I gotta say Subjugation and the recent Apotheosis really raise some difficult subjects!

Of course of course, @popiellart's The hunt, the bargain, the council, the feast, the slaughter is my always go-to, it's not so explicit in its durgetash but it IS durgetash and it's phenomenal.

Letters by @mycolalia are subtle but a real creeping horror, I devoured them. Their Durge is so unique.

Also everything that @todderwodders and @baneschosen put out. They both TRULY have the most inventive take on durgetash of all time, exploring such brilliant things around themes like the changing body, body horror, religious iconography, Big Divorced Energy, divinity and mortality... honestly just go follow them if you don't, it's Big Brain Time over with both.

no one ever died for wanting too much by @mashamorevvna but I would ALSO STRONGLY recommend the Ketheric stuff, which goes even harder, fucking excellent stuff, and the Gortash/Orin which again goes SO hard.

If I may rec a few more things that are not durgetash but are durgetash adjacent:

Ritual Hunger is Durge/Bhaal and left my jaw on the floor.

In brutal praise where Bane and Bhaal take over their chosen's bodies

Your command is my wish, your demand is my desire which is Durge/Sceleritas and is so unique

Night Society by @loadofschist which has Gortash/Franc with a watching Durge :)

Top five fanfictions?

thank you!!! love this question!! my answer is constantly changing because i read a lot of awesome fics all the time but for now my top 5 that i’m pulling from my bookmarks are:

1) The Palm of Mystra’s Hand by @loveofdetail i’m always talking about this fic, it’s my favorite pre canon gale fic out there, so well written and well realized!

2) Haunted One by @anderstrevelyan their oc valas is one of my faves, he has such a striking and unique backstory and it folds so perfectly into the world and the characters of bg3, also the writing is so good, the vision so clear, highly recommend!!

3) With bloodied hands, with broken nails by @say-lene a very intense look at gortash’s final days, the writing is SO GOOD i rotate this fic in my head all the time

4) a sensitive conduit by @smoreofbabylon the fic that got me into galeheart lol read this and get sucked in, the characterization is so clear here it’s like an extension of the game

5) Monster, mine by @mightymizora sexualizing the monstrous and doing a great job of it, also home of the world famous orange feeding scene 😭 which i think about constantly lol

would you believe me if I said after all this time I've never written smut involving astarion before. yeah I know crazy right

I wasn't even supposed to do this (yet)! This is from the tav!Aune longfic I mentioned previously. It's split into a number of parts. This little bit is from Part Four, which takes place post-game. I was working on the outline and then I blinked and suddenly I was writing actual prose, oops:

"No touching." His voice brooked no impertinence. He pinned her wrist against the chair's armrest to punctuate the point, then brought the one he still held up to his mouth. As the soft plush of his lips brushed against her skin, Aune felt heat start to gather around her ears, her neck, her chest - which began to rise and fall in such a way that was hard to ignore. She swallowed with some difficulty, her throat tight and aching with her tense anticipation. He had never fed from her wrist before. She wondered how it might feel, how it might differ from the other places he had supped from. Astarion parted his lips just slightly, blowing breath onto her wrist. His indolent gaze rested heavy on her as he drew out the moment. The sensuous red of his irises peeking out past lowered eyelids and dark lashes... he was the seamless combination of coyness and danger personified. The fire that enticed with its glow; flirtatious flames beckoning, crooning, Don't you want to press yourself into me? Find out for yourself whether I am warm and never burning? Whether I will embrace you with tenderness or with ruination?

Hello :) For the Durge Asks: Creator Edition - 6 & 7?

Hello new friend! Answering these.

6. Personality or looks, what came to you easier?

This was also asked by @anderstrevelyan!!

Looks but only because I knew I was remaking a character design I like to make a lot: pale, thin, dark hair, kind of witchy but very conventionally attractive. The time I took in character creator was the time to make her design. The personality took a few chapters to solidify.

7. Is their personal story represented in their overall design? Do they carry any mental scars or physical alterations from the shit that happened to them?

Yes in a few ways! Her looks reflect her role: she is a beautiful object meant to lure and keep people in line. She has no physical scars because she cannot change her appearance, it was set by her father because it is Correct. She doesn't even have her ears pierced until after she is redeemed because her lobes push the metal out.

Her whole arc is about her trying to gain some piece of control over her life and her destiny, even as she follows the path she is set in. She's good with killing the whole world, she just wants to pick things like where she sleeps or who she fucks or the clothes she wears or even just her ability to play music and enjoy art. There's back and forth with Bhaal and one boon he grants her is the ability to control her shape temporary, like growing claws or opening her jaw wide. He lets her shape her slayer form to make it fit herself better and so it changes into something that looks more like her, more feminine and something where she can use her voice.

Is this a long metaphor for bodily autonomy? Yah. I am transparent.

3. Headcanon you've adopted from a writer

God, SO many from @mashamorevvna. I feel sometimes our brains are connected by a tadpole because it just feels like everything is so correct, but I particularly like the reads on Minthara and Orin and Minthara and Gortash; I wanted to write a Minthtash fic but then you've a gift for hating (you should know, you're the expert) was just so perfect.

13: A detail from canon that was expanded upon

For this done to perfection? Haunted One by @anderstrevelyan. The DETAIL. The care for the lore! This fic weaves together BG1 and 2 and 3 in a way that is SO satisfying for long-term fans, it's beautiful work.

22. Fic(s) you could do a whole PowerPoint Presentation on

Listen. You have always needed abundant assistance by @plethomacademia. Because listen. I haven't seen any fic do what it does in setting up the expected tropes of a genre and then unpicking and putting them back together in this way. I am a romance novice, and seeing this fic play with the genre expectations and thread through conflicting ideals and looking at where it's going? The layers? WILD to me.

Three ships: Durgetash (of course), Blackwall x F!Inquisitor (DA: I) and Nick Valentine x F!Sole Survivor (Fallout 4).

First ship: Amusingly, my answer for this is the same as yours - was very obsessed with Faramir and Eowyn of LoTR back in the day. I remember going to see RoTK in the cinema with a friend who hadn't read the books and was sad that they both were alone at the end, so I was able to say 'well, actually', and reassure that they get together.

Last song: 'Spectator' by Friday Pilots Club.

Last movie: The Ritual (a re-watch) - good old folk horror. Have also read the book by Adam Nevill it is based on.

Currently reading: Just started 'The Beauty' by Aliya Whiteley. And for non-fiction, I also have on the go 'All That Remains: A Life in Death' by Professor Dame Sue Black, anatomist and forensic anthropologist extraordinaire, who I have met a couple times. I've always been interested in forensic fields.

Currently watching: Episodes of 'Magnificent Century' on YouTube (again lol)
