3. Headcanon you've adopted from a writer

God, SO many from @mashamorevvna. I feel sometimes our brains are connected by a tadpole because it just feels like everything is so correct, but I particularly like the reads on Minthara and Orin and Minthara and Gortash; I wanted to write a Minthtash fic but then you've a gift for hating (you should know, you're the expert) was just so perfect.

For this done to perfection? Haunted One by @anderstrevelyan. The DETAIL. The care for the lore! This fic weaves together BG1 and 2 and 3 in a way that is SO satisfying for long-term fans, it's beautiful work.

22. Fic(s) you could do a whole PowerPoint Presentation on

Listen. You have always needed abundant assistance by @plethomacademia. Because listen. I haven't seen any fic do what it does in setting up the expected tropes of a genre and then unpicking and putting them back together in this way. I am a romance novice, and seeing this fic play with the genre expectations and thread through conflicting ideals and looking at where it's going? The layers? WILD to me.

Hello :) For the Durge Asks: Creator Edition - 6 & 7?

Hello new friend! Answering these.

6. Personality or looks, what came to you easier?

This was also asked by @anderstrevelyan!!

Looks but only because I knew I was remaking a character design I like to make a lot: pale, thin, dark hair, kind of witchy but very conventionally attractive. The time I took in character creator was the time to make her design. The personality took a few chapters to solidify.

7. Is their personal story represented in their overall design? Do they carry any mental scars or physical alterations from the shit that happened to them?

Yes in a few ways! Her looks reflect her role: she is a beautiful object meant to lure and keep people in line. She has no physical scars because she cannot change her appearance, it was set by her father because it is Correct. She doesn't even have her ears pierced until after she is redeemed because her lobes push the metal out.

Her whole arc is about her trying to gain some piece of control over her life and her destiny, even as she follows the path she is set in. She's good with killing the whole world, she just wants to pick things like where she sleeps or who she fucks or the clothes she wears or even just her ability to play music and enjoy art. There's back and forth with Bhaal and one boon he grants her is the ability to control her shape temporary, like growing claws or opening her jaw wide. He lets her shape her slayer form to make it fit herself better and so it changes into something that looks more like her, more feminine and something where she can use her voice.

Is this a long metaphor for bodily autonomy? Yah. I am transparent.

WIP Wednesday

So these WIP words are a bit different. Because they won't end up in Shion's fic. Why not? Said fic is being told (almost) entirely from her point of view. And she isn't present for this scene. But I wanted to draft something to help clarify in my own head how events might unfold toward the eventual Hange/Levi/Shion OT3.

“You’ve kept Shion away from me.”

Hange laughs softly. Then chest pain brings their amusement to an abrupt halt. “You noticed.”

Levi’s glare intensifies.

“I don’t know what’s going on between you two. But she’s hurting. I don’t want her to hurt.” They tilt their head. “I don’t want you to hurt, either.”

“Hilarious coming from the idiot in a hospital bed. Again.” He huffs. “Ever think about how we feel seeing you injured all the time?”

“Hoh, I didn’t think you cared.”

His withering expression could melt steel. “I’m shit at showing it. And you know that.”

“I imagine that’s why you’ve hurt Shion. She hasn’t known you as long as I have, remember?”

Levi rolls his eyes. “Shut up.”

“No. She’s alone right now. She hates being alone.”

He shivers.

Hmmm. That reaction confirms Hange's suspicion. “I’m getting the treatment I need here. But what Shion needs right now, a hospital can’t provide.” They start to cross their arms before thinking better of it. “I can’t leave this room. You can.”

“You said I hurt her. Now you’re sending me to her. Make it make sense.”

“You’re in love with her.”

He flinches.

“Ha. So you have admitted it to yourself.”

“Fucking four-eyes.”

“I think you should tell her. But I’d prefer it to be your choice. She deserves that.”

“Oi, Hange, why do you care about this?”

They don’t respond.

“You’re sure you want me to go to her.”

“I am.”

“Then you’ll be alone.”

Hange forces a smile. “I’m used to that.”

“Dammit.” He pushes himself away from the wall. “Last chance to change your mind.”

“Just fucking go already.”

So he leaves.

They sink into their pillows once he’s gone, a long sigh slowly escaping their lungs. Look at me of all people playing matchmaker because they’re both fucking terrible at this. If only it didn’t ache so damn much.

WIP Wednesday

Happy Wednesday! I'm tagging @swordbisexual, @anderstrevelyan, @rowanisawriter, & @chronurgy, though there's no pressure to participate.

Chapter 2 of "Some Friendly Faces" is going to switch perspectives, and will hopefully give us some more insight into the newest addition to the party. Blurb under the cut:

Threnody probed the bridge of her nose cautiously. Another spurt of blood poured over her lips as a bolt of pain shot between her eyes. She bit back the urge to lick it and grimaced. The blow from the goblin was embarrassing enough, to have to use the healing potion she’d only just scavenged was just inexcusable. She held the cartiledge in place with one hand and gently dabbed at the break with a potion stained cloth, clenching her jaw as the two began to meld back into place.

The halfling hostage the goblins had been debating over still lay in the mud, surrounded by the bodies of his captors. His breathe, shallow. The druid wasn’t in danger of immediately dying (not from the goblins, anyhow), but blood still soaked through his garments, the bleeding slowed to a dull crawl rather than the bloody burst of a ruptured vessel.

Her hand rested in the air, just above his throat. If she clamped down now, how would he thrash? Would he awaken suddenly, throw the last of his strength against her in a bid to escape? Could he even muster the strength to flail a stray limb? Or would he even notice, too far gone into unconsciousness to react as his organs failed, one by one?

And like with a dam burst where the torrent of the water brought with it other things too — fish and twigs, tadpoles, silt and pebbles of light — so it was with their love, a gushing, wet-whispered flood of adoration and promises. “I love your skin.” “You’re so beautiful.” “I never want to stop.” “You and me, babe. Last Movie/Show: I've been binge watching Critical Role campaign 2 for the last week

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: GOD this is hard! I think probably Sweet > Spicy > Savory. It's pretty rare that I can't/won't eat something sweet and I only got over my childhood aversity to spicy foods in the last couple of years, but both of those ping my favorite foods before anything vaguely savory.

Relationship Status: Happy single mother to my puppy dog

Last Thing I Googled: "how to select by color in GIMP" bc I always forget and I spent the day messing with a new custom theme

Current Obsession: Dragon Age has been a persistent obsession for the last three years, but as far as obsessions in the foreground, I think it's probably the mighty nein (I forgot how insane they make me)

Last Book: The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon! I recently gifted a copy of this to one of my friends and I reread it before I did that and it absolutely holds up! It's a captivating fantasy adventure romance novel about a girl caught between various political machinations in a land where magic is persecuted to extinction. The worldbuilding is exquisite and the character growth and story arcs have me on the edge every time I read it, even though I already know how it ends. Highly recommend!

Looking Forward To: man it's 9:30pm and I decided half an hour ago to make some bread, so uh. Looking forward to a warm slice of that in approximately an hour and a half LOL
