Again, quite an old request but it has been so delightful drawing Dragon Age again, and these two have been on my brain a LOT. So thank you for giving me an excuse to draw them. They are so beautifully tragic, and I love expressing their sad dynamic in little body language details. I also ended up enjoying the lineart alone in this one too much so I decided against colouring it.

Mine's Amell/Alistair, purple friendmanced MHawke/Anders, and Trevelyan/Dorian with a very fond spot for blue rivalmanced FHawke/Isabela, and this complex love/hate thing with Solasmance. I haven't decided who'll be first in Veilguard yet, but I'm leaning toward Harding 'cause I've always thought she was just so cute. 😁

my first ever playthrough was mahariel/alistair with alistair dying at the end and i was BEREFT at the time but i love the angst so much like god. the hero of ferelden suffered more than jesus. she ended the blight. she demanded sovereignty for the dalish in return. her keeper is proud of her. she got everything she ever wanted and it doesn’t matter at all bc alistair is dead and she blames herself and she wants to lie down in the grass and cry and sleep for a billion years but now she feels like she has a duty to rebuild the order but the only guy who knew anything about how to do that is dead and she misses him and Fuck i’m gonna be sick

my favourite da2 romance is red hawke/anders where hawke is a mage and is a very tired boy and just becomes increasingly more disillusioned with everything in the fucking world due to how badly his life is going and at the end he doesn’t even approve of anders doing a bit of terrorism but he runs away with him anyway bc he’s like ‘fuck it i’m not going to deny myself the only person left that i feel anything for when everyone i loved has been killed or turned against me’. but Disclaimer i’ve never done a fenris romance playthrough and idk why bc he would probably sway me

none of the romances i played in inquisition really Got Me the way the other games’ have? i haven’t tried dorian’s bc i’ve never played a male inquisitor. however my most recent playthrough was lavellan/solas and the bit where she gets to say ‘no, you’re not killing solas. I’M killing solas’ was incredibly cathartic and i hope she gets to get his ass in veilguard 🙏 this is absolutely not a hawke/anders ‘let’s make each other worse’ scenario. she wants that egg Obliterated

anyway in veilguard i am making a beeline for taash bc HAVE YOU SEEN HER i want to know everything about her i want to braid her hair while she tells me how she lost her horn and how she killed the world’s scariest dragon and how she’s sooo strong and beautiful i love women x

i rlly enjoyed this one! mhawke, set post da2. its 22k and i skimmed it pretty fast bc i have the attention span of a goldfish these days but it’s very solid, i liked it a lot

anyway there’s only a handful of fics tagged red hawke for handers—even fhawke and mhawke together don’t quite manage to hit 50 fics iirc—so it doesn’t take long to have a look through lmao. although there are probably more out there tagged differently. red hawke is not super popular and the fics are a bit all over the place because characterisation varies from “purple hawke who is a bit snappier than usual” (and to be fair a red hawke whose secondary characteristic is purple strikes me as a very different animal to one whose secondary is blue) all the way to “red hawke here straight up used as a shorthand for evil abusive hawke”. but there is some good stuff out there

hi for yet another writing ask, 1, 21, and 39?

Which of your fics would you keep the basic plot of but rewrite completely?

Ouch. Am I allowed to say... I don’t think I would agree to rewrite any of my fics? Just, my philosophy is very, I wrote the thing and now I’m moving on to do something else! If I have a new idea, I’d rather write a new fic. And if I don’t have a new idea... why would I write it again?

That being said, if  I had to pick one I might say THE LUCKY ONES , since I always felt like I didn’t quite nail that one. I think having Anders be in a relationship with mhawke there didn’t contribute towards story in any useful narrative way, it was just that all my DA fics were mhanders so this one was too.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, what’s your secret?

I’d say by now I can predict how long fics are going to be within a magnitude. As in, I can consider a fic idea and estimate that it will be a <5k idea, a 5-10k idea, a 30k idea, or what. For instance, I knew going in that  So You Accidentally Kidnapped A Qilin would be somewhere in the 50k-100k range, but only if I took the time to write out the first three chapters (WWX being raised as a Jiang) because without that segment it probably wouldn’t make 50k. And that was more or less correct.

As for the secret... I don’t know that I have a secret. It’s really just experience. I have a sense by now of how many words it takes me to get through X plot points, as well as how much padding to leave space for things that will come up as I write.

Wildest AU scenario you have written?

Probably  Never Gonna Tell a Lie and Never Gonna Tell A Lie 2: Angsty Blond Wizard Boogaloo qualify here. There’s really no explanation for how characters from four wildly different settings/timelines ended up in a bar drinking, they just are.
