*it implies that Hawke is alive, if Hawke died in the Fade, Anders's cameo would be likely as a standalone character who only might mention his deceased partner? At least that is how I see it.
I am talking strictly about a cameo, not a mention from Hawke/someone else from Dragon Age II because that is too likely.

got a surprise hankering for Sad Mages, so, since you're my go to for RPG related questions, any chance you'd know any good ones, outside of the Dragon Age series?
i. would just really like a sad little mage to think about Real Hard
Do you mean sad mages in general or sad mages to romance? ALSO THAT IS SO NICE, THANK YOU!
I will do both! (Excluding Dragon Age as you already played that)
They are also in vague order of my personal preference
Sad mages you can romance:
REGONGAR MY LOVE. Regongar is a magus from Pathfinder Kingmaker and one of my favourite characters and romances in all videogames. He is full on angsty, boisterous. You can romance him in an ot3 with other sad mage Octavia. Angst everywhere (but happy things too!)
Gale (male character, any gender can romance him) from the newly released Baldur's Gate 3. He is the classic of what you are looking for, I think! He is a bit less sad mage than Anders and Solas, and more on the determined side of things.
Fane (male character, you can romance him with any gender), is an undead, a wizard and probably the most involved character in the plot of Divinity Original Sin 2.
Aloth (m, any gender) from Pillars of Eternity 2 (and 1), he is probably similar to the sad mage trope you are looking for!! He is a great companion in game 1, and you can romance him in game 2!
Viconia (cleric) and Aerie from Baldur's Gate 2. I don't remember much of Aerie, but Viconia was an interesting (evil) companion with some great dialogue. Both are female characters only romancable by a male character.
Sad mages you cannot romance:
Virgil (Arcanum of Steamwork and Magick Obscura) - he is pretty sad, and can even be sadder depending on the choices. Adorable bff companion of the game
Likho from the Dreamfall Chapters series is a magic user if I remember correctly. Not sure if he falls into the sad mage idea you are looking for but he is for sure SAD and stubborn, and you can soften him up!
The game Unavowed also has a mage among its main characters, with a pretty interesting story (sad old man! but not too sad, or too old!)
Not sure how well it fits, but Ash of Gods: Redemption also has a pathetic sad mage man as one of the player characters!

Elite (Season 7, I guess)
I'm done watching Elite. Literally done. How can every single character be fucked up? I mean, I have my favourites and then they get fucked up too?! Why, man, why? I need to ramble a little.
Look, I favoured Omar since the beginning. I rooted for him and he was the best when he was with Ander to he honest but why must the one gay relationship be such a dramatic situation? Sure, Saraúl wasn't better and even Dídac and Isadora had there drama scenes but the gay couples? Ouf, man, don't get me started.
Throughout the series we had OmarxAnder, AnderxPatrick, AnderxAlexis, PatrickxIván, PatrickxCruz, OmarxAnderxPatrick, OmarxJoel, JoelxIván and even some lesbian couples like MencíaxRebe (very grateful for that one, by the way, even though it didn't work out and went to nothing). My personal favourites out of those are AnderxOmar and IvánxPatrick. I so hoped that Patrick would make a comeback in season 7...
Iván is so confusing. Like, please, he didn't know what he wants with Patrick and he treated him like shit. No, correction, they both treated each other like shit. But they fit so well together. And now, in the new season, he's so forward with everything, I think Patrick damaged something. But I really like that Iván is doing the exchange because he has probably more space and time to think and process everything that has been going on. I kinda am extremely proud of him but also somehow sad that Patrick didn't come back.
Joel and Omar are/were a different thing than Patrick and Iván. They found each other at a time where both of them needed support. That way, their relationship was basically built on mental support which means that they had to be dependant on each other. Joel got kicked out by his parents because he's gay and Omar just lost his best friend. I still believe that they loved each other and I refuse to believe that their whole relationship was built on patching up open wounds for each other. But parting was still the best choice they could make. Nevertheless, the way they did it was very Elite and not very clear.
I think my favourite character in the seventh season is Dalmar. Like, this dude does basically all the work to pay the rent so that Omar and Joel can still live there and on top of that he has to deal with all their shit. He's so fed up and so, so done. Like, everytime he opens the door he has to fear to witness them having sex again. My man was so done with them, he really didn't understood what they wanted from each other (me neither, by the way). But, as every other character, he wasn't left unharmed, no, he has to be involved somehow. So that's how he ends up in the ending scene...
My other favourite character in season 7 is probably Sonia. She is so nice and also extremely wise and sympathetic. She didn't deserve the drama with Nico and I also didn't get why Nico hooked up with Chloe when he was in love with Sonia. I enjoyed the way she was involved but like, on the sidelines. She helped Omar with the app, had a crush on Nico, a few bonding moments with Chloe and eso es. Sonia was probably the one character Chloe could have been friends with because Sonia cared about her and tried to make her realize that she could be different. It was a real bitch move to hook up with Nico to spite Sonia, even though Chloe did it with good intentions.
Chloe was a really difficult character. I loved her confidence and I liked how her character had a deeper meaning. But I was furious at her for believing Raúl. I mean, Raúl? Come on, he's ugly, on the outside as well as the inside. Yeah, sure, what Sara did was not fair and incredibly bitchy but couldn't Chloe just blackmail Sara or burn down her car or something instead of hooking up with Raúl?! It was stupid and I hope the comments on the Internet just affected her too much and led to this decision. Without the harassement, she would've hopefully been smarter.
The whole (love) triangle of Chloe, Iván and Carmen (Chloe's mother) was a whole rolercoaster of emotions. It started with annoying, went to funny, to disgusting, to confusing and then to incredibly sad and murderous. What the fuck?! I mean, I get it, they couldn't just ignore Cruz' death as well as they couldn't just ignore the hit and run and Samu's death but damn, it did nothing.
And then the Romeo and Juliet thing with Dídac and Isadora. I still don't fully understand what was going on with that and how Rocío's mom was exactly involved in it but it was really confusing. I never knew when they were together and when they weren't. Like, are they pretending to fight or not? I mean, it was the right decision in the end but I don't exactly know what the purpose of it was.
Somehow, the series has lost its meaning. It all started with Marina's death and for several seasons, it stayed that way, always related to the death and to cover up some traces but then, new characters showed up (not that I complain) and the focus of the show drifted which is not necessarily bad. The last two or three seasons were kinda random, if I remember it right. The characters always were connected with each other and they always did bad things but the whole point was missing. There was not the same goal or the same reason, so it all just became random.
I don't know. The original cast will always be iconic to me but the new cast expanded the gayness which I highly support. Some things will never change though:
1. Samuel has always annoyed me. I mean, come on man, quit being the sad nerd playboy. You cannot fuck Marina, Carla and Rebeka and believe that you have nothing to do with the outcome of everything.
2. Ander and Omar for life! They were so real with each other even though Ander was sometimes a gay dude in denial with his cheating eras.
3. Mencía and Rebe will forever be a power couple. Two rebellious people thrown into a relationship? Yes, please. I wished it had worked out for them.
4. Iván and Patrick are the couple with the most drama. Like, please. They are so wolfstar coded and also so melodramatic, I can't. I love both of them so much.
5. Lu is the character with the most developement and my all time favourite (with Christian, Dalmar and Sonia). At the beginning, I kinda hated her but somehow, she became the most unbothered character and I started to like her.
6. The friendships in the series are sometimes so random. Samuel and Guzmán, Ander and Patrick (well, more friends with benefits) or Lu and Nadia. Do I have to say more?
EDIT: I just realized that Raúl looks like Luke Skywalker from Star Wars! Wow, this is so funny to me.

Today I’m breaking down the newly-revealed story of Dragon Age 2’s cancelled expansion that would’ve acted as a precursor to Dragon Age: Inquisition, planning the events of Dragon Age II’s sequel more accordingly, whilst giving our player-protagonist Hawke a good farewell.
The DLC was called “The Exalted March” and was canned because of Inquisition’s scope, and the team’s shift to the Frostbite engine. Thanks to BioWare’s Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development book, we have an in-depth look at this cancelled Dragon Age II DLC with concept art and detailed plotlines to follow.
I’ve already broken down the Dragon Age 4 related-secrets discovered in this book in my last news update, so I recommend you checking that video out for the latest on the next Dragon Age’s current project. With that said, let’s take a behind-the-scenes look at Dragon Age II’s planned, and unfortunately cancelled final-DLC.
“The Exalted March was a cancelled expansion to Dragon Age II meant to bridge the gap between the events of DA II and the planned sequel, Dragon Age: Inquisition. The expansion focused on the fallout from Kirkwall’s explosive finale, with Corypheus serving as the villain.”
Tumblr media
“After the end of Dragon Age II, when Meredith turns into the big red lyrium statue, she basically infests Kirkwall and you end up with what actually ended up being the red templars taking over Kirkwall and being essentially Corypheus’s army, Dragon Age II cinematic designer John Epler says.”
Tumblr media
“To stop him, Hawke recruited various factions, having to choose between groups like Isabela’s Felicisima Armada and the Qunari at Estwatch, forcing the hero to split loyalties and risk relationships in the process.”
Tumblr media
“It was supposed to bring Dragon Age II’s story to an end,” lead writer David Gaider says. “And it was supposed to end with Varric’s death. I was very happy with that, because all of DA II was his tale. The expansion was supposed to start at the moment Cassandra’s interrogation of him ended in the present. And we finished off the story with Varric having this heroic death.”
Tumblr media
“it tied things up and would have broken so many fan hearts, something the writers on Dragon Age notoriously enjoy. But between a transition to the new Frostbite engine and the scope of Dragon Age: Inquisition, the decision was made to cancel the expansion, work any hard-to-lose concepts into Inquisition, and in the process, save Varric’s life.”
Tumblr media
“Concept art for The Exalted March explored new areas previously not depicted in the Dragon Age universe, with costumes that reflected next steps for familiar characters. Varric was going to war. What would he wear? With Anders (if he survived Dragon Age II), the plan was to present a redeemed Warden.”
Tumblr media
“A character that vaguely resembled Sera in Dragon Age: Inquisition was first concepted for Dragon Age II’s expansion content.”
Tumblr media
“The writers sketched out plans to end the cancelled Exalted March DLC with Hawke having the option to marry their love interest. This included alternate ceremonies for party members like Bethany and Sebastian if players opted not to wed. There was even a wedding dress made for Hawke. The assets found its way into Inquisition, donned by Sera If she marries the Inquisitor, or the Inquisitor if they marry Cullen. The dress can also be seen in an ambient NPC wedding after a chain of war table missions.”
Tumblr media
“The destruction of a Chantry was explored in concept art as it might have happened in Exalted March. This idea would carry to the beginning of Inquisition.”
Tumblr media
While its bittersweet uncovering the story of this canned DLC, especially with the planned send-off having Hawke potentially marrying their love interest, and witnessing the explosion of the Conclave first hand as a cliff-hanger leading into the next game. I’m very grateful that BioWare revealed the development secrets of this cancelled DLC to the public.
I respect Dragon Age II a lot, it’s a title that was given way too much flack by the mainstream considering it was created within 9 months of production, and had one of EA’s lowest budgets for its creation. Yet despite that, the game stands on its own two feet with a 40+ hour story, new protagonist and a roster of remarkable characters that join the journey.
“Dragon Age: Origins had the longest development period in BioWare’s history. Dragon Age II’s was the shortest. Production of Dragon Age II officially lasted just nine months, while the team was still supporting live content for Origins.”
One of the biggest reasons behind Dragon Age II’s “different” narrative was the fact that the developers were working insane hours, with zero time for rewrites and revisions, meaning that the first drafts conceived for stories and characters were often the final outcome.
In light of that, David Gaider felt that the cast of Dragon Age II were some of his favourite Dragon Age characters to date, he believed that the game had some of the best writing throughout the series.
“As we were writing, I realized there was going to be no oversight – that everything was going to be a first draft. Because nobody had time”. David Gaider says. “I sat down with the writers and I said: ‘Look here’s the conditions we’re working under. A lot of what we’re putting out is going to be raw. We’re not going to get the editing we need. We’re not going to get the kind of iteration we need. So I’m going to trust you all to do your best work.’”
In summary, Dragon Age II is a remarkable feat, and doesn’t deserve the harsh criticism in my opinion. I adore the characters, narrative beats, and lore introduced in Dragon Age II that have been fundamental to my personal enjoyment of Dragon Age.
While, it would’ve been nice to have this DLC finalised for Dragon Age II. There are many fundamental aspects of Inquisition that would be completely different if this DLC wasn’t canned. For example, Varric would be dead, having no appearance as a companion in Inquisition... Just thinking about that as a reality - that’s not a world I want to live in at the moment.
So, while it’s sad that this DLC never came to be, there are (at least) a couple things, like Varric’s life, that we can be happy about, regarding “Exalted March’s” cancellation.

Ao3 Questions
Tagged by @midnightprelude and @johaeryslavellan - my two trusty co-writers; thank you for the tags! And tagging on @onionjuggler @fandomn00blr  @dismalzelenka @blarrghe @faerieavalon @in-arlathan @suliswrites @leafylost @serial-chillr @tessa1972 anyone else who would like to do this!
How many works do you have on Ao3?
32
What’s your total Ao3 wordcount?
924,518
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
tell the angels (DAI, Part two of my Here In This Moment series following my Inquisitor Aran Trevelyan) - 56
it’s the promise you made (DAI, Part one of Here In This Moment) - 55
watching you (DAI, Part 3 of Here In This Moment) - 51
Underneath the Bough (DA AU, Victorian AU, Dorian/Anders/ OC Almila, co-wrote with @midnightprelude) - 42
I... I am (DAI, Part 4 of Here In This Moment) - 37
Pour Forth Thy Soul In Ecstasy (DA AU, Dorian/Ril origin story, co-wrote with @midnightprelude) - 29
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Honestly, not as much as I should. I spend so much time writing that I let a lot of the social aspect of things fall by the wayside. Fortunately, I co-write everything except my own little series, and my co-writers are phenomenal communicators who make up for my introversion. I do go through batches at a time and try to answer people when I can think of anything relevant to respond with; sometimes that takes me a while..... But I really appreciate comments! Even if they’re just little “adiubasuidgaibda”. :)
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Ummmmm...... Hmmm. They mostly all have angsty beginnings..... Maybe Pour Forth Thy Soul in Ecstasy. Or Crash (still being posted, but finished writing).
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
By The Earnest Stars has a nice ending (spoilers, finished writing, not finished posting). Excess of Joy Would Wake Me is a sweet ending to a one-shot (I actually have accomplished a COUPLE of those!)
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I have a few crossovers in the works and mixed into Here In This Moment into other writers’ Dragon Age universes, especially in my continuing series “travels in time” which deals with my time/world hopping Inquisitor.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Hmm. Nope. No hate. And there have been a few things I’ve written where I was a little worried about it, honestly, because I write pretty viscerally about things. But. Yeah. No hate. Just love or silence and some thoughtful constructive criticism.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yup! All kinds! Mostly M/M, but also M/F and F/F. Lots of kinks, lots of play, all consensual except for one scene for one specific reason and I labeled the heck out of it.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! Many! Lots! Love it! Finding a rhythm with another writer is so fulfilling and I really love it.
What’s your all time favourite ship?
.......Oof. I mean. Honestly, my favorite ship at any given moment is the one that I’m writing if the flow is good. If I’m looking up fics to read, I usually look for Dorian-centric stories.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
travels in time. I have it all plotted out, but there’s years of it and I’m beginning to think it might be better not to show everything that happened in the missing time interim. Mystery is more interesting. However, if you read it and there’s a particular part of the journey that you’d like to see detailed, let me know. :)
What are your writing strengths?
Does tenacity count? I’ve been told that I have a knack for creating visceral scenes that evoke the feelings of the characters for the readers really strongly and that is my goal. To bring the reader into the scene. I love sinking deep into a point of view and focusing on the particular lens of the narrator. I also really love building out the bare structures of largely sketched in canon characters, like Rilienus and Karl Thekla.
What are your writing weaknesses?
One-shots. Getting to the point quickly. Fight scenes - I hate writing them. Arguments, I love, but action sequences are really difficult for me for some reason. Apparently they actually turn out pretty well? But I find them very stressful to build.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I do it. I like it. I like reading it. There are some images and ideas that are communicated better in other languages. And when there are characters switching between languages for the sake of privacy/community/shared history/etc, I find it more satisfying to allow them to actually switch languages rather than continuing to point out when they are and are not speaking in a language that might be understood by those around them. I use Polish for Nevarran, French for Orlesian, and Latin for Tevene. I also use the much debated Elvhen Lexicon, in conjunction with other Dalish sources online.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (1995). That’s right! I was and still am a hardcore Trowa/Quatre shipper and I refuse to feel bad about it. My first poly-triad fix was Duo/Trowa/Quatre and it got a lot of good feedback on Livejournal (remember that, back in the day?) and that was before poly was a thing people actually talked about. Still proud of that.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
I cannot possibly answer this adequately. I’m proud of them all in different ways. The series Everything Will Be Okay that I’ve written with @johaeryslavellan has the most original characters and is a modern AU and is basically just our own world with touches of Thedas along the edges and I’m really proud of the relationship between the two original characters; it’s very real and unique and strange and fun and painful. I’m also really proud of Pour Forth Thy Soul In Ecstasy, which I wrote with @midnightprelude, because I feel like we really just caught the sail of what the Tevinter Imperium is like and absorbed and explored that world really well from a single setting, and also we did some killer magic exploration that is still really fun to re-read. And solo-wise, I’m still the most proud of “my window through which nothing hides” which is pure, unadulterated smut from Cole’s POV and I had so much fun working through how he would interpret physical sensation and living in his brain and body for a minute.

Congrats again🎉🥂
For ask game please - Get to know me - 14, 148, 132, 154 and 202. (I know it's a lot, you don't have to answer all)
Have a nice day!💜
I’m more than happy to answer all of these, thank you so much for asking!!! 💗
14. The last person who hurt me, did I forgive them?
😑 yes and no? My dad’s wife is an evil wench and over the years has done so much crap to me it’s ridiculous, yet she’s not going anywhere, so if I want a decent relationship with my father I unfortunately have to suck it up and be civil with her. Forgive? No. But tolerate, for the most part. (I’m just happy I was an adult when my parents split so I never had to be raised by the woman)
148. Which fictional character do I wish was real?
Obviously this boy right here:
Tumblr media
And also this:
Tumblr media
I would happily accept a Fìli or an Anders, I’m not picky…..
132. Hogwarts house / Divergent faction / Hunger Games district?
Okay I love all three of these series but have never taken actual quizzes to determine what I am in each of them so this is simply a guess!
Hogwarts- Gryffindor
Divergent- Dauntless
Hunger Games- District 10 livestock (I dunno, horses…? Let me be with the animals please!)
154. Do I want children?
Nope. Never have wanted them. I’m in my thirties now and feel even more confident with my decision. It’s not that I don’t like children, it’s just not for me or a plethora of reasons. We have beautiful nieces and nephews and all of our friends have children so we have all the little pebbles we need in our lives 💗 being an Aunt and called Mom #2 is the best!
202. How do I define love?
This one is DEEP! Love is so hard to explain. It’s just there. You feel it deep in your soul when it’s the right one and it’s the most wonderful, understanding and intense thing.
But I’ll keep it light and let one of my favourite Friend’s moments describe it better:

Elite - First Episode!
So! Thoughts about the first episode of Elite that I just watched! I kind of… did not expect to enjoy this as much as I just did? The actors are great, I love picking up a bit of Spanish on the side (not a language I speak… like… at all xD) AND the filming is awesome!
Gorgeous imagery aside – and there sure is a lot of it – I also loved the way the narrative was structured around the murder that is about to have happened. This is an impression absolutely unique to the first episode of this series because this is where we see the story begin and end before the unravelling of story threads from the middle to the eventual conclusion takes place.
This episode was meant to suck you in and get you interested and HOO BOY HOWDY it accomplished its purpose! (For me, at least.)
Regarding the murder mystery, I really liked how the various forward-flashbacks were tied in with the overall story to manipulate the viewer‘s interpretation of singular scenes (adding emphasis on likely future developments like the enmity between Nadia and Lu comes to mind) and it did not feel overdone at all!
Regarding spoilers, mind, I‘m still at the first episode and everything here is pure speculation. Mostly. I should maybe tag spoilers for the victim reveal?
Because, let‘s face it. It was obvious who would die in the end the very second this character made an appearance. At least to me.
Now, because this is what I invariably focus on, no matter what media I consume, let‘s give the various characters in the show a not-really-in-depth-because-i-am-just-talking-into-the-void-and-not-submitting-a-report review!
First of all, Samu. He is the obvious main character, sweet, cautious and just interesting enough to distract from his nice-boy image that… burdens him tragically? His decision to completely opt out of demonstrating his abilities in English during class is interesting and… so far, the only interesting thing he has ever done, except for a few nice, witty one-liners. Don‘t get me wrong, I actually like characters that are capable of… not starting drama every few seconds and the fact that he‘s seemed to be the sole supporter of his family makes him likeable? But I just know that he‘s going to have SOME bullshit going on and make decisions that will downgrade my tentatively positive opinion of him severely. I KNOW IT. Also, I… really don‘t like Marina for some reason?
Marina, then! She also follows the stereotype of the main characters love interest – the Girl That Is Not Like The Others. Which is not necessarily a bad thing! I just dislike characters that, in turn, are more attracted by the attractiveness of rebellion than the actual people who represent it for them.
(But I really liked her chemistry with Mano (?) in the two seconds they interacted.) (But that is the problem! UGH, love triangles…) I really liked that she‘s HIV-positive though! I loved how that was represented! That was apparently the big drama with the previous scholarship student though? I also like how she doesn‘t give a damn. But all in all, hm. Meh. Not my type.
Mano (?) - Samu‘s older brother who just got out of prison! And we still don‘t know exactly how! He‘s demonstrated so far: an astounding inability to sympathize with all and any struggles his younger brother has faced AND come on. That was one obviously placed camera AND YOU DIDN‘T EVEN HAVE THE GOOD SENSE TO COVER EITHER OF YOUR FACES COME TF ON WOULD IT HAVE BEEN SO HARD??? Also, flirting with the girl his lil bro is obviously dancing around already and hogging her instead of calling Samu? Seriously? That‘s just an asshole thing to do, no matter how much better you two seemed to get along, dammit!
Anyway. Then there‘s Guzman. I don‘t like him (yet). He‘s protective of his younger sister which, nice, would he not also completely ignore her wishes at the same time. His relationship with Lu seems built on the desire of the two powerhouses of the school to present a united front and also have some sex in bathrooms, but… are they actually happy together? Wait, wait. Are they even together openly? Nooooo, wait it was such a big thing that they were seen having sex! Hm. In that case, I don‘t get the nonchalance with which Lu suggests her boyfriend seduce another girl just to blackmail her. Are you that sure of his loyalty? Probably! Is that a really awful and manipulative thing to not only force a stranger but also your own boyfriend into? Yes!
But. I also know his type. He‘s the asshole with hidden depths that appear in fleeting glances only at first and then, when gradually revealed, make him your favourite character. I know that at one point I will be supposed to love him and I, a weak victim of viewer manipulation, probably will. I know how that one goes. (I still love Bellamy from The 100 with all my heart and I have suffered for it. Also only watched to the third season!)
Aside from the fact that she is gorgeous and the archetypical bitch, except also super smart, I can‘t say too much about Lu yet. Except that I ship her with Nadia, not that THAT is ever going to happen, I guess. Idk I kind of like her. In her capacity of being a huge asshole, that is.
Nadia! HOLY SHIT I LOVE HER!!! SHE IS THE BEST! And holy shit, the hijab thing was a biiig gun to pull out in the first episode, but when else, also, good demonstration of institutionalized prejudice and discrimination! (I was so mad, good job! Well, fucking awful that this is a thing that needs to be represented, but good job! And her statement about them restricting her based on their own dumb opinions and NOTHING else and how this is her belief and nobody is forcing her to wear it? YES YES YES GOOD GIRL! Screenshots from that scene were what convinced me to give this series a shot and holy shit, it was delivered so well!) I can‘t even say anything meaningful here, I just??? love her??? She is sassy and smart and NOT interested in the drama (which will change VERY soon and hoo boy is she going to seduce the SHIT out of Guzman while also falling in love, but I don‘t even mind. That much.)
Then there‘s Christian. I… really don‘t care for the second-hand embarrassment he keeps subjecting me to? And his attitude towards drugs and alcohol? And… uh… almost everything else? BUT! He handles all of the abuse directed at him with the same charm and grace that at first seems absolutely moronic but is soon (him walking through the school naked) revealed as an iron-hard sunny attitude? And I respect that. A lot. I will probably come to respect this dude even more as the story evolves, but I still don‘t like his character-archetype. But that‘s fine!
Also, Carla and this dude! Waaaaait did she only hook up with Christian because her boyfriend who‘s name I forgot was into it? She did not seem all that comfortable afterwards, which hints at QUITE the different power dynamic in that couple than is expected of them! I am very curious!
And! Ander! OMG he is SUCH a sweetheart! Sorry, I still think that getting high and making a dating app profile is dumb, but HE IS GAY and hooking up with Omar and he! Is the cutest! And only deserves good things! Please let him be happy!
Omar, for that matter… hm. He looks very tired. Also, why is he selling drugs? He‘s… Nadia‘s brother? I‘d like to see more of their sibling relationship tbh but… hm. Don‘t know what to think about him yet, but the drug thing kind of is a turn-off for me? I really hope to get to know more about him though, especially if he IS going to have a thing with Ander!
And I have many more thoughts about this and I really look forward to watching the second episode at some point in my life (which… uh… might happen sooner or later, but since my method of choosing stuff to watch includes maths and does not include personal opinion… probably later?) but now I‘m getting hungry and am going to eat something instead of screaming some more into the void.

DRAGON AGE QUESTIONS
tagged by: @nordxz thanks so much !!! *heart emoji*
favourite game of the series?
origins! although inquisition is very close as well.  inquisition was my favourite for a very time, but like midway through last year i replayed origins and it just felt.....so good. i really struggled with enjoying dao because of the clunky fighting system but an amazing mutual introduced me to a mod that lets u skip fights basically lol, so i was just able to focus on the story/characters/exploration of the game, which just....made me realize how immensely beautiful the game actually is, and i fell in love all over again aaaaa
how did you discover dragon age?
i was a huge mass effect fan ! mass effect was the game that motivated me to make this blog, actually, and obviously through following people i saw a lot of posts from the da community as well. so i bought origins and inquisition (i had NO idea there was a da2 until half way through awakening lmao) and tried to play origins but HATED it gtrhutgrhugtr and then eventually gave it another try like a month later and completely loved it and now here we are
how many times you’ve played the games?
not as many times as some people on here have - i would say origins maybe four times, da2 maybe twice, inquisition three times. but that also doesnt count all the timesw ive created new games and then abandoned them lol bc theres too many to count
favourite race to play as?
love me some elf booty ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
favourite class?
at first it was rogue dual wielder ! i played as a rogue in every single first-time playthrough and idk i felt that class has always been the easiest/most op. but in the last maybe 2 years it’s changed to mage. ive always been super intimidated by magic classes in every game i play but i LOVE inquisition’s mage classes/specializations and i can never go back now
do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
im so so so bad and i usually end up making very similar choices, but usually bc i just......replay the same characters every time hgtuhgtruhgtrui. i REALLY need to make more da ocs to explore more choices but....i dont want to lol i already have to many. i still havent sided with the templars in a playthrough like i just cant do it
go-to adventuring group?
i always bring my characters love interest with them no matter what, just bc its cute, but usually i try to evenly cycle the other characters around that. i always try to have a warrior/rogue/mage in every party. but sometimes i’ll go warrior/warrior/mage/mage especially if i need to focus on straight damage and a LOT of healing lol
my favourite parties would probably be:
dao - alistair + zevran + wynne (wholesome and also funny)
da2 - anders + fenris + merrill (SO much chaotic energy)
dai - solas + cassandra + cole (i just love them ok)
which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
ashara lavellan, my canon inquisitor who was never supposed to be canon tghtgurhtrg. my original canon inq was a trevelyan rogue, who was super nice and good. i made ashara so that i could actually play as an evil/mean character without feeling bad lol, oh and i also wanted to see what the deal with solas was bc i had heard his romance was good ;;;;) anyway that backfired and i ended up completely falling in love with her, and i STILL couldnt make the tough choices with her so i was like ok maybe she isnt THAT evil and now shes just..... the way she is now i guess lmao
favourite romance?
trhhtruih okay u guys KNOW its solas. u know. i dont even have to say anythiing about it bc...u fucking know
(alistair’s is very close tho)
have you read any of the comics/books?
i havent :(((( im such a bad fan but i cannot deal with ordering online and thats the only place ive been able to find them. im planning on reading asunder and the masked empire as soon as i get the chance (and the money) tho !!
if you read them, which was your favourite book?
nope
favourite DLCs?
trespasser ! its pretty simple and very plot-driven like u didnt have to worry about side missions as much as u would with other dlcs so idk that was... refreshing. but obviously i loved it just bc it was so beautiful and intense and sad (since my chara romanced solas obviously) and that music score????? unbelievable i’ll never be over it
things that annoy you.
can i say the fandom trghuitgrhutrhui
mostly the thing that pisses me off the most is the grey morality. writers trying to make everything deep and Thought Provoking like..... no jerry, slavery IS bad theres no alternative viewpoint lol??????? also the fucking whitewashing makes me see red.
orlais or ferelden?
ferelden!!!!! (*blows a kiss* for highever)
templars or mages?
mages <3
if you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
i only have like 3 protag da characters and they’re all canon, although emeraude is an au. so ella is my canon warden and ashara is my canon inquisitor, but emeraude does exist in that universe, bc i hc she befriended the warden and alistair when they visited the alienage, and she was very outspokenly angry and didn’t really give a shit that alistair was going to be heir. which alistair really,,, appreciated i guess? so emeraude is made his official elven adviser after his coronation but she also kinda helps out as a royal protector because she’s one of the only people in court they both trust completely lol. also she is....stronk.
and the only other characters i have for da are obviously side characters who are related to my canon protags so. they’re all canon as well lol
what did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
ella named her dog ser bark gthutgrhutghruihtr she thought it was cute ok
emeraude just went with barkspawn since alistair came up with the idea as a joke but she thought the joke was so bad she made them keep it as punishment vjhuightui
i dont really have a hawke oc but.....he named his dog shepard in my playthrough ! like from mass effect ;;;;)))
have you installed any mods?
origins is modded to hell and back and i genuinely couldn’t play the game without mods at this point. inquisition is slightly modded but im in the process of removing them all, and only keeping a few because my game runs pretty terribly with them installed
did your warden want to become a grey warden?
ella did ! but it was kind of,, a naive childhood dream, she had a really romanticized view of the wardens and she wanted a life of excitement and bravery and adventure, not really taking into consider all the bad things about it (and obviously not knowing the full truth about what it means to be a warden)
emeraude did NOT want to be a warden. she basically had to be dragged out of the alienage because she wanted to stay and protect her community. she never really enjoyed being a warden, although her friendship with alistair was its one redeeming quality
hawke’s personality?
uh i cant remember the colour/personality thing but he was a combo of funny/ethical. mostly there for memes tho.
did you make matching armor for your companions in inquisition?
for origins i do ! i always make sure alistair and ella wear the grey warden armour, as well as every warden in awakening. thats like, all theyre allowed to wear lmao.
if your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
ella would obviously change her family’s murder lol, and emeraude would at least try and change what happened at her wedding, to prevent shianni and the others from being hurt.
ashara would change romancing solas :((( she was so angry at herself after discovering who he was, and she felt weak and foolish which she HATES more than any other feeling, so she definitely wishes she had never met him for a long time. after she kind of processes it though, and learns to deal with her anger, her answer would be that she wishes she had saved the chargers. it’s the one move she made that actually keeps her up at night sometimes.
do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
ghuitrhuigtrhugtr so many. canon? dont know her.
the biggest example would be that i hc king!alistair was at the winter palace during the wicked hearts level. because uh..... celene and the fereldan monarchs had been corrosponding for over 10 years, trying to build up rapport, of COURSE the king would be there to see who the potential ruler/s of orlais would be and whether or not he ought to be worried. like. im sorry but alistair was there lol you can’t change my mind. i also hc he helps ashara with information about the grey wardens during this chapter, because ???? it just makes sense??? im so angry i wish this was canon
are any of your characters based on someone?
ok it was unintentional but ashara reminds me of an english teacher i had in highschool who was very scary but also....really cool and i loved her. it was an accident but,, still counts.
who did you leave in the fade?
gtiturghtugh okay at the risk of pissing off EVERYBODY who reads this, i left hawke in the fade, even though it was a toss up between hawke and stroud. it was ashara’s fault tho !!! she would have 100% prioritzed an alliance with the grey wardens over like,, some guy. it broke my heart but yeah That happened.
favourite mount?
i like all the elk mounts mostly ! but i never use them bc they sound ugly af

Dragon Age Questions
Tagged by @slothssassin thank you <3
1. Favorite game of the series? Ooh that’s really though! I think it’s a toss up between Origins and Inquisition, I love them all. But there’s something about the story on Origins and the exploration of Inquisition I enjoy more.
2. How did you discover Dragon Age? A very long time ago I was shown DAO by a friend, she even let me create a character and play-she then went on to show my Skyrim and OI forgot about DAO until my current partner showed it to me about 3 years ago and I've not looked back since =D
3. How many times you’ve played the games? DAO-Once all the way through, but I’m replaying Asha and my new Warden, Amaya
DA2-Only once
DAI-Fully with all DLC once, but I have 4 other playthroughs of varying completion. Bramble’s playthrough is the closest to completion.
4. Favorite race to play as? Dalish Elf or Human, but all races are amazing!!
5. Favorite class? Two-handed warrrior as I love using a two-handed sword in real life, but I like the fighting style.
6. Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time. I try and do different things, especially if they are different characters. Though if I’m replaying I tend to do the same things.
7. Go-to adventuring group?  (This is for my canon ladies, otherwise the different iterations of parties wouyld be too much to write XD) DAO: Alistair, Wynne then either Sten, Shale or Dog DA2: Fenris, Anders, Varric DAI: Solas or Dorian, Blackwall or Cassandra and Varric
8. Which of your characters did you put the most thought into? Probably Zephyr, one of my Inquisitors. But almost of them are quite fleshed out.
9. Favorite romance? Torn between Alistar and Cullen, I love them both. Blackwall and Solas’ romances are high on the list too
10. Have you read any of the comics/books? Yep-The Stolen Throne, The Calling and Asunder
11. If you read them, which was your favorite book? Err I’m not sure I have a favourite, they’re good and I enjoyed them. But I can’t say I enjoyed one more than the other.
12. Favorite DLCs? All of them, they’re all really different and bring different things to the table
13. Things that annoy you? Hmmmmm I’m not sure, I suppose there a lot of plot holes and things that are never really explained in game-like for example how Corypheus survived to live another day in DAI, I’m pretty sure I killed him in DA2. I had to read the Wiki to know how he survived as it’s never explicitly explain in my opinion
But I understand there will always be plot holes, it’s inevitable when writing such a huge game series.
14. Orlais or Ferelden? Ferelden.
15. Templars or Mages? A bit of both, I always in my first and canon playthroughs side with the Mages. But sometimes I’ll side with the Templars too-depends on the OC I’m playing.
16. If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one? Neither, they’re just my OC’s. I suppose theire in different worlds but not parrell ones. I’m not overly fond of AU’s and the like.
17. What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc.) Asha-Fen’Harel (Mabari) Amaya-Inu (Mabari) Merra-Ser Woofington (Mabari) Blackie-Nuggles (Avaar War Nug) Bramble-Clover (Red Hart) Zephyr- Davhalla (Taslin Strider)
18. Have you installed any mods? Once, to get a more Dalish pj outfit for Zehyr. I had fun., took some screenies but uninstalled it. I’m unsure of mods and don’t want to break my game.
19. Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden? Asha was honoured to be a part of such an important order. Amaya not so much.
20. Hawke’s personality? Green-though everyone says blue (I’m sure a lot of the ‘nice’ ones are green with only a few being blue but hey ho). She very much prefers mud and dogs to people but tries to help when she can
21. Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?  I can’t remember, I don’t think so
22. If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Asha-Save Tamlen, he was her best friend and she think his death is her fault. Amaya-Save her family Merra-same as Amaya Enna-probaly not have her father die, so he can teach her about magic Blackie-Stop the Conclave, the explosion affected her deeply as well as losing some family Bramble-I’m not entirely sure Deera-Her family, she’d stop then becoming Lyrium Smugglers Zephyr-Her parents death and the Exalted Marches Thorn-I’m not sure he would change anything
23. Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon? Errr I don’t really know, I like sticking to canon personally. I have quite a few HC’s that I can’t remember them all and if they break canon or not XD
24. Are any of your character(s) based on someone? No.
25. Who did you leave in the Fade? My Hawke, I wasn’t attached to her at all in DAI because I couldn’t recreate Merra in the CC. Plus the personality wasn’t my Hawke either-she just didn’t feel right to me.
Plus there was no way on earth I was splitting Asha and Alistair up-I refused to make him king so he remained a Grey Warden.
26. Favorite mount? The Avaar War Nug <3

Fandom Ask: Dragon Age. Either by game or as a whole, you decide.
Let’s do it by game, makes it easier to choose. Also very very long, but fuck it. I’m… assuming “worst character death” means most painful? And not, y’know, bad.
(Give me a fandom to hear my thoughts on it)
Origins:
Favourite male character: ZEVRAN ZEVRAN ZEVRAN I would die for the wonderful assassin.
Favourite female character: A little trickier… I’ll go with Morrigan since I think picking Isabela would be cheating a little.
Least favourite character: Hm. I’m going to go with Arl Eamon on this one, the prick.
Favourite ship: ZevWarden, natch.
Favourite friendship: Warden and Alistair. Or Warden and Dog.
Favourite quote: The whole “In war, victory, in peace, vigilance, in death, sacrifice” thing really stuck with me.
Worst character death: The Warden’s death in the sacrifice path. I can’t kill my own character, I just can’t.
This made me so happy you have no idea moment: The end of Zev’s romance? With the earring? “Is this a proposal?” “Only if you wish it.”? Good shit.
Saddest moment: The Lady of the Forest’s death. Also, the Warden’s funeral, for the same reason as above.
Favourite location: I like Denerim. It’s very… alive, you know? Also the Dark Wolf questline is there.
(Putting the rest under a read more because fuck this is long)
2:
Favourite male character: A three-way tie between Fenris, Anders, and Varric. They’re all so very good in such different ways????? I won’t go into it here because this post is going to be long enough as it is.
Favourite female character: Isabela. The badass sexy deeply loyal pirate is just *kisses fingers* perfection.
Least favourite character: Meredith. More or less by default; 2 has a very good cast overall.
Favourite ship: FenHawke. Partially because it was actually the ship that introduced me to DA as a whole, partially because it’s just really sweet and good.
Favourite friendship: Hawke and Varric, obviously.
Favourite quote: 90% of Fenris’s dialogue tbh The “I couldn’t bear the thought of living without you” speech melts me. Every time. This is why I can’t romance anyone but Fenris.
Worst character death: Leandra’s. Not so much because I care about her, but the cast’s reactions were…. quite painful.
This made me so happy you have no idea moment: Hawke and co. scaring the Templars into submission and leaving Kirkwall once and for all. Badass. Also, Nathaniel’s quest. It was good to see him again, even if I’m not sure what happened to his voice. Would’ve been Zev’s quest but. Face. Also he didn’t mention his potential romance with the Warden do I mean nothing to you babe?
Saddest moment: Leandra’s death again, tied with the death by troll of Hawke twin #1 and the almost death by darkspawn of Hawke twin #2, followed by Fenris panicking and breaking up with Hawke.
Favourite location: I am weirdly fond of Darktown. They did a good job of portraying just how bad it was for the people of Kirkwall.
Inquisition:
Favourite male character: Asdlfjaskdj don’t make me choose. A tie between Dorian, Bull, Cole, and Varric again.
Favourite female character: Another tie! Leliana, Josie, and Vivienne. Cassandra almost made it, but she got a little too “How dare you not do what the Chantry wants” in places.
Least favourite character: Cullen. Jackass. Sera was a very close runner-up.
Favourite ship: Hm. Bull/Inquisitor, with Dorian/Inquisitor as a very close second.
Favourite friendship: Varric and Cole. Varric is such a good friend to everyone and I love him deeply for it.
Favourite quote: I don’t… really have one? If I had to pick… Bull’s “This is where I want to be” line on the ramparts post assassination attempt was one of the few that really made it seem like this was a close-knit band of adventurers as opposed to just… coworkers.
Worst character death: I really wanted Warden-Commander Clarel to live. She deserved so much better than she got.
This made me so happy you have no idea moment: Again, didn’t really have one. I got a kick out of seeing Hawke and at least receiving a letter from the Warden. If we include DLC, fighting Hakkon in Jaws of Hakkon was… pretty fucking awesome. Inquisition was definitely the weakest game in the series, sadly.
Saddest moment: Dorian’s backstory was… really bad. That got pretty hard to sit through.
Favourite location: I love all the little rooms in Skyhold. There’s a surprising amount to see there, and having places you actually have to go looking for in the home base was a nice touch.

Dragon Age questions
Tagged by @gingerbreton - thank you!!!!
I should tag people, but I’m feeling lazy and I’m pretty sure most people have already answered. If you want to do it, tag me so I can see!
01) favorite game of the series? Definitely Origins. Inquisition drags a bit at times and I’m not as invested in DA2′s characters (by a very, very marginal amount, pls don’t hate me) but the story in Origins is just so good and so involving. I love the different origins and how they all affect the story in some way, and it was the first game I played that had such rich, original lore, so it’ll always hold a special place because of that.
02) how did you discover Dragon Age? My friend @biotrashcollector introduced me. And now, to pay her back for ruining my life (<3), I send her sad headcanons whenever I think of them - which is a lot.
03) how many times you’ve played the games? I’ve played all the games twice, and I’m maybe about halfway through my third Origins run. To put it in perspective, I have 296 hours of DAO on record.
04) favorite race to play as? I’ve only played as human and elf so far, and I prefer human for all the political machinations that go on. I definitely need to make an Adaar at some point though.
05) favorite class? I love being a warrior in DAO just because it means I get into the thick of things (and I have lockbash which means I don’t need to be a roague to get the good stuff at Ostagar) but in DA2 and DAI it’s all about the mages.
06) do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time? I’ve made different choices in all of my games, except the current Cousland playthrough, which I’m fine-tuning as my ‘canon’. In all the others I tried to romance different people and play different storylines, but some of the decisions I made in my last DAI playthrough had to be done with my eyes closed.
07) go-to adventuring group? DAO is Alistair, Wynne, and then a plot-relevant fourth wheel. It helps to have the extra dog slot mod. DA2 is usually Anders and either Merrill or Varric with Aveline bringing the muscle. As much as I love Fenris I don’t take him anywhere unless I’m absolutely sure I won’t run into pro-mage people. DAI is far more dependent on what I’m going to do. I’ll take Cassandra and Dorian most places, then Bull will help me fight dragons, Solas comes to be snooty about elves, and the others are pretty much interchangeable. I am a fan of the all-mage party, though.
08) which of your characters did you put the most thought into? That would be my Queen Warden Rosslyn Cousland. I invented her and never looked back. My Inquisitor Maighread Trevelyan also gets some love, and they’re both major players in my ‘canon’ universe, but really, I don’t play a game without at least putting some thought into the character.
09) favorite romance? Of the ones I’ve played, Alistair is my favourite, followed closely by Cullen.
10) have you read any of the comics/books? Most of them! I went through a phase of trying to get my hands on all the extra stuff out there, but that was before Hard in Hightown and Magekiler came out, so I haven’t gotten round to those yet.
11) if you read them, which was your favorite book? It’s maybe a tie between The Stolen Throne and Last Flight, the first because I am a dog lord at heart, and the second because GRIFFONS.
12) favorite DLCs? All the DAO DLC I’ve played have been amazing, and I love the scope of The Descent, so I couldn’t possibly pick just one. (Legacy should have been part of the main game, so I’m not counting it.)
13) things that annoy you. DLC that should have been part of the main game (looking at you, Legacy), the turn-based combat in Origins, not being able to give your companions gifts in DAI, BEARS EVERYWHERE - also lore retcons, those really annoy me.
14) Orlais or Ferelden? Dog Lords Forever
15) templars or mages? I wholeheartedly say fuck the Chantry. I acknowledge that what is done to the templars to keep them obedient is awful, but I am very much on the side of the mages.
16) if you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one? All my OCs fit into the same universe, though some, like Maighread’s brother Sean, died as a result of player choices in specific continuities.
17) what did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc) Rosslyn’s mabari is Cuno, and she has a horse in my civil war AU called Lasan; Melissa Hawke’s mabari is Brewster and I haven’t actually played Maighread yet so she hasn’t had chance to name her mount.
18) have you installed any mods? So many. My DAO game kept crashing in Denerim.
19) did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden? She might have considered it as an idle fantasy, but definitely not the way it came about, and she’s resented Duncan for it ever since.
20) hawke’s personality? Purple with red streaks when you threaten their friends, and sometimes blue when she’s trying to be nice, but that softer side only usually comes out around Merrill.
21) did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?  No, but the liars get put in plaidweave and dawnstone so everyone will know their shame.
22) if your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change? Rosslyn would tell her father not to trust Howe, and to not send Fergus away ahead of the rest of the army. In the early days of the Inquisition, Maighread would probably go back and tell herself and Sean to leave the temple before the explosion, but once she becomes more self-assured that would probably change to events from her life in the Circle. Melissa Hawke has too many regrets just to pick one, so she’d decline the offer to go back entirely.
23) do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon? All the origins survive in spite of Duncan’s lack of interference, but apart from that, most of my headcanons just fill in the gaps left by the game.
24) are any of your character(s) based on someone? Not that I’m aware. Some parts of my stories reflect real life, but nobody has a specific real-world counterpart
25) who did you leave in the Fade?  Sorry, Stroud. You’re expendable.
26) favorite mount? I don’t really have a preference.

It’s Research! (Or, why it’s totally ok to play Dragon Age for 100+ hours when you should be writing) - Nine Worlds Convention Panel Write Up
Ok, so I haven’t really done a post like this before, but this panel that I attended at Nine Worlds actually made me feel so much better as a writer, so I wanted to share it!
Basically, four successfully published authors - Taran Matharu (The Summoner series), Vic James (Gilded Cage), Jen Williams (The Copper Promise), and Lucy Hounsom (Starborn) - discussed how entirely unproductive and prone to procrastination they all were, even after becoming serious authors, and how it was *utterly fine* to not be churning out novels at the rate of Brandon Sanderson.
If you’ve ever failed a Nanowrimo goal, or ended up on tumblr rather than working on your WIP (not that that relates to me in *any way* at this exact moment in time), I promise you what you are about to read will make you feel a million times better!!
Basically, the panel began by explaining what their average work day and daily word counts were, which were as follows:
Lucy Hounsom: starts work at around 10am and never works past 2pm, averages around 1,000 words a day, writes three days a week and works in a bookshop for the other four. On a work day, she doesn’t write *anything*.
Jen Williams: works a full 9-5, 5 day working week, and the only full day of writing happens on a Saturday. She spends most of Saturday on twitter and facebook. She will write on evenings for about 1.5 hrs a night.
Taran Matharu: was the only full time author on the panel - by which he means he doesn’t write anything until around 3 months before the deadline, where he panicks and somehow scrabbles a book together. Most days he falls down research holes or plays video games, and only actually writes for about 1-2 hours a day. He makes up for this by averaging around 1,000 words an hour.
Vic James: when she worked full time, she got up at 5am and wrote for 1 hr every morning. She would average 1,000 words an hour. Now that she mostly writes full time, she still only gets 1,000 words done, in a day, because of how much she procrastinates.
TL;DR: all four authors didn’t do much more than 1,000 words, or 2 hours of writing, on an average day.
That’s less than Nano asks you to do. I’ve done that on Nano days and felt worthless, because it falls just short of where you ‘need’ to be. It was really nice to here ‘real’ authors talk  about how they genuinely couldn’t write much more than that in a day of work, or about how they had to make do with just an hour or two of writing around a full time working day, and yet had still managed to finish and publish that first novel. A lot of talks about writing that I go to at conventions or writing groups always leave me feeling anxious, like I’m not doing enough - this panel did the exact opposite. I was doing just as much, if not, on a good day, technically more, than they were. I just wasn’t sustaining it, because Imposter Syndrome always hits around a month into ‘not writing enough’ each day.
The tips they had for fitting writing around full time work or study were:
Try to do a bit of work at lunch or on commutes, etc. This didn’t necessarily have to be actual writing, but you could work on planning and outlining what you were planning to write later, so that your writing time is explicitly *just* writing.
Jen Williams said she had to go to her desk straight away when she got home, otherwise she ran out of steam. If she felt like she was still ‘working’, rather than relaxing first and then having to build up the energy again, she just never got anything done (I’m writing this dangerously close to bed, so this may not be a hard or fast rule....)
You must give yourself permission to take your writing seriously. If you keep thinking your WIP is ‘not worth’ sitting down to do, or potentially sacrificing some of your social life for, you’ll never get it done.
Finish mid-sentence, or mid-scene. It forces you to keep up a rhythm of daily practice, because otherwise you’ll know for certain that you’ll forget where you were. Plus it stops you from staring at the blank page at a start of a chapter, utterly daunted and out of ideas. You just continue the obvious trajectory of the sentence.
I’ve already started planning at lunch times, and it feels awesome! I don’t like writing on my lunch break because I have a desk job, so it doesn’t feel like a break, but a few handwritten notes on what I’m planning to write is much more lowkey.
So yeah. They were a super interesting panel, and all just seemed really relatable and ‘normal’. I look at a writer like Brandon Sanderson, with his 3 books a year standard, or people like Marissa Meyer, who basically doubled her Nano goal when writing the first Lunar Chronicle, and it feels so unattainable. I’m out of the house from 8.30am-6pm standard, and that’s without taking any social events into account. I spend my entire day at a computer already, and have carpal tunnel, so my arms ache after an intense after-work writing sesh. Maybe one day I’ll be a full-time author (lol) and be able to write more than a couple of thousand words a day, but right now that’s just not something I can achieve. So it was nice to hear from authors who work with similar constraints, and procrastination problems.
But the title of the panel mentions video games! What about video games?
No fear! There was some video game chat.
Lucy Hounsom has sunk over 100+ hours into Skyrim. One of the scenes in the final book of her trilogy is based mostly on the Staff of Magnus dungeon quest in the Mage Faction plot line.
Taran Matharu’s magic system is based pretty heavily on video gaming (given all the ‘level’ and ‘mana’ stuff, this is not entirely surprising.)
Dragon Age was what got Jen Williams interested in fantasy, because it showed her that traditional fantasy settings could include diverse characters.
And, because I asked the question....
Lucy Hounsom’s favourite Bioware romance is Anders from Dragon Age II.
Jen Williams went through the standard break up conga line across the trilogy - she romanced Alistair in Origins (not as a human noble), then Fenris in II, and Solas in Inquisition.
Anyway, this is now over 1000 words, which means I’ve written just as much as four successfully published authors would’ve done in the same amount of time. To everyone who feels like they’ll never finish their WIP, whether it be because of work and procrastination, just remember that it *is* possible, even if you sink more hours into gaming than you do into your book.

Élite has it all: rich students with a hint of a murderous trait within, a queer romance that will have you reaching for the tissues, sweet interracial couplings, a taboo that will make your jaw drop, and mysteries you will not be able to get your head around.
What is the story behind Élite?
S1: Three working-class teens (Nadia, Samuel, and Christian) are given scholarships to study at Las Encinas, an elite school when the roof of their school collapses. Thrust into the world of Spain’s richest and their children, both worlds collide when a student is murdered.
S2: Three new students arrive at the school, and Las Encinas finds themselves entangled in yet another incident: the mysterious disappearance of a student.
First Season:
I didn’t really know what to expect while watching this, I don’t watch too many teen dramas but I had a feeling it was going to be a typical drama filled with cliches and stereotypes. That was not the case.
The first episode was so explosive, I couldn’t just stop there and not see this through to the end! There were moments where humorous lines were thrown here and there, but overall this has to be the most dramatic high school I have ever been to - I felt like that quiet student who sits at the back and just watches as the drama unfolds one by one - it was that deep.
Racism is one of the themes explored within Élite and there were times where the racism was subtly injected into a conversation: Christian meets Nadia for the first time and calls her beautiful, he retracts his statement seconds later saying “Shit, sorry. You won’t blow yourself up because I said that, right?” He laughed while saying this, showing how easily people can turn their racist comments into a joke when it is something very serious.
Eleven minutes in, Nadia begins her school day with being called into the principal’s office, the topic being her hijab. The principal begins by telling Nadia that “as per our rules, no accessories are allowed”. Watching someone be discriminated over their cultural choices sparked some disappointment, the ignorance was unreal. A teacher tried to sympathise by saying that they understood why Nadia was against this and her response gained a round of applause:
“If you understood, you wouldn’t ask me to give up my culture or religion.”
For the duration of the series, Nadia goes from strength to strength: she deals with her strict parents and the pressure they put on her to bring pride to the family while also dealing with her feelings for Guzmán, leading them into a slow-burning romance.
Christian, in my opinion, was shown to be this character who played the clown role within the trio. He could be a little bit cocky, didn’t particularly study, liked to have a drink or two and smoke a few joints, he was crazy about another student, Carla, and wanted more than a little taste of the fancy lifestyle he was exposed to. Throughout the season, he showed that there were times when he could be serious too, whether it was to do with his friends, Carla and his feelings for her, or himself -- when he got serious, he was determined to let people know his exact feelings and thoughts before going back to his humorous antics.
Samuel seemed like a decent guy, he wanted no trouble, just wanted to get through the school year, and battled with his studies and his job as a waiter. The moment he locks eyes on Marina, a cute girl who gave off a rebellious vibe and sister of popular boy Guzmán, that’s when trouble knocked on his door. He was infatuated with Marina and their relationship went from a one-sided crush to a half-boyfriend, half-girlfriend situation. When he finds out about Marina’s pregnancy, he starts to act paranoid and goes on accusing everyone around him, including a teacher; this made me dislike Samuel but then I realised that he was only acting this way because he was looking at her with rose-tinted glasses, she was his first love, and finding out who she was really in love with did nothing to stop him from loving her.
As stated in the beginning, the show includes the murder of a student and so episodes have snippets of the main core group being interviewed by an officer on the case. The intertwining interviews give an insight into the characters’ relationships and thoughts but you also begin to notice that there are too many twists and turns which made things confusing, however, it all made sense in the end.
Halfway in season one, the students (privileged and unprivileged) start to form relationships with each other - both friendly and romantic - and because they have to share classes and projects with each other, they begin to grow a sense of personal development. It was really interesting to see the elite students bring out their vulnerable side, you start to see them as more than a person who was born with a silver spoon in their mouth but as a real person with feelings and internal issues that a “normal” person deals with.
Despite the students starting to warm up to each other, there was a clear divide between the rich and the poor. The working-class students were not seen as equals and are instead seen as pawns in a wretched game they didn’t want a part of. Christian really takes this to heart and lets his feelings be known, he says “I am fed up, Carla. I want you to see me as an equal [...] I don’t want to be your gigolo, or your thief, or someone you use.” In reality, it’s a dog-eat-dog world and it is something you can’t control. People are used left, right, and centre and while some see this as a normal thing, others don’t understand it.
This season touched on a lot of issues that are reflected in reality, ranging from social pressure, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual relationships, racism, sexual identity, and a whole lot more.
The finale revealed the last moments of the murdered student and uncovered secrets that left you wondering what was next to come.
Highlights:
#OMANDER (obviously) I loved seeing Ander and Osman, Nadia’s brother, start a relationship. The thing with queer relationships in television is that it is often thrown into your faces and it is either displayed as over-the-top or very sexualised or in some cases, both. Thankfully, the most amazing queer relationship I have seen in a series was done so beautifully and realistically. Nothing was forced, the characters took their time with coming to terms with their sexuality and their newfound relationship, and it was cute, healthy, and heart-warming.
Nadia + Omar’s sibling love Although they both lived in the same house, walked home from parties or school together, and were even in the same room together, the two rarely spoke to each other but as the series advanced, we see the Shanaa siblings form a bond that wasn’t there at the start of the series. They spoke more, confided in each other, and had each other’s back.
All things QUEER Ander’s mum found out he was gay when she came home to find her son kissing Omar and rather than deny what she saw, she accepted it with a smile. Like any other teen who is in the closet, Ander was worried about coming out but receiving a warm reception from his parents and best friends Polo and Guzmán, the latter who was confused why his friend didn’t feel comfortable confiding in him about his sexuality, gave him the freedom to own his queerness and he wasn’t shy about letting people know his sexual preference.
Carla and Polo were the IT couple (other than Guzman and Lucrecia of course), as they have been together since the age of twelve, and the arrival of Christian changed their whole relationship with the three of them engaging in a sexual relationship, solo and group, and this also gave Polo the opportunity to figure out his own sexuality.
The characters in Élite had sexual freedom that is slightly frowned upon in real life and usually met with confusion, denial, and/or offensive remarks. The show really made it clear that times have evolved and people like to kiss men, women, have relationships with either gender or engage in open relationships, fwbs, or NSA and that was OK.
Second Season:
Personally, I didn’t enjoy the second part of Élite. It seemed a little bit too messy with the number of secrets and lies that were circulating around. There was nothing that gave me an oomph and the drama was a bit unnecessary and boring. While I was intrigued in the first episode, the anticipation died down quite quickly but I did find that it picked up in the last two episodes.
I did somewhat like the introduction of the three new characters that popped up, although there wasn’t much of their backstory that really got me interested which simply made them look odd and out of place.
I do have a favourite quote from this season and it pretty much summed up the whole show.
“In the end, the one you’d least expect... turns out to be the worst of the monsters.”
Highlights:
Omar - QUEER ICON He really embraced his sexuality in this season, such a pleasure to see! He smiled more, had a positive outlook, and let out the rainbow within.
Final thoughts:
There was a really nice representation in this show; PoC actors, queer characters, and religion and culture were explored. It’s not every day you get to see a person of colour on your screen - it was refreshing - and the queerness was a joy to watch.
I feel that the characters were well-thought-out during the first season and although they went in a different path in the second, I enjoyed watching them evolve and go through their journey of self-discovery.
Would I recommend it? Yes. The second season was a bit of a letdown but it has been renewed for a third so there is clearly some potential there and I hope the thrill and energy that was in the first season is brought back.
If you want to watch a show that has good character development, this is one to watch. The character arcs were really well-thought and planned. The writers of Élite managed to include a good couple of seasons worth of development in just two seasons which is a feat in itself.
There are eight episodes in each season which makes it the perfect series to binge-watch- I managed to finish both parts in two days; it’s not too long to bore you and not too short to have you groaning in annoyance.
Overall, it was a good watch and I am a little intrigued to see what comes next in season three which will be dropping in March!

The OC question thing, all 50 answers bc I’m bored.
Some OC questions
1. Your first OC ever? Vikara Amarina Nellenryll. I’ve had characters before, but she was the first one who really stuck, who got a background and everything. She was my go-to oc for everything.  2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs? Alena Fanelis-Lavellan (dragon age)  3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else?Nah 4. A character you rarely talk about? Seirein Xavier (adopted by Charles,) my X-Men OC. Her power is that she can make anyone do anything with her voice, so she’s resolved to be mute. She and Logan end up together.  5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be?  Alena. Or idk, Belladonna Hawke. There aren’t enough Varric x Hawkes out in the world. I love both those bitches.
6. Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related? Most of my Hawkes look similar tbh. I try to make them different, but I’m a slut for a strong-nosed, big-lipped, tawny-skinned woman.  7. Are your OCs part of any story or stories? AHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Yes. Hands down. Most of my Dragon Age OCs are already in stories, or are at least mentioned because I have them set up in specific timelines. Alena is getting her own goddamn biography. Belladonna is 5 chapters into her own story. My FenHawke is 37 pages into her story. I’ve got a oneshot posted with my Hawkebela. (Da2 is my fav game tbh.) My non-DA OCs have a few stories, too. Seirein is one chapter down in hers, my Sole Survivor has more than a few oneshots down, etc.  8. Do you RP as any of your OCs? If you do, introduce one of your RP OCs here! No. I’m uncomfortable with RP since a friend destroyed it for me a long time ago. I used to be super big into it, but now it just makes me squeamish.  9. Would you ever be willing to give any of your OCs to someone else? Fight me. (Maybe Rastig. He’s a little shit.)  10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design? Idk what that means. A physical design? Most of them just get scars. I mean, Anna Hawke is deaf in one ear. Genevieve is blind. Idk. Most of them have fully fleshed out backstories so that’s about as complicated as they get.  11. Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a “sunshine”? Brilla Aeducan. Gemma Cadash. Missella Surana.  12. Name an OC that isn’t yours but who you like a lot On AO3, there’s a FenHawke series that I legit sat and read for 3 days straight. Literally didn’t even turn on my TV. (It’s here ) I really like this Hawke.  13. Do you have any troublemaker OCs?  Depends on how you define troublmaker. As in, a douche? Rastig. As in, mischievous? Kalam Adaar, Titania Shepard, Jack Ryder, Belladonna Hawke.
14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory HAHAHAHAAHHAAH Who doesn’t have one? Alena is the most fleshed out. She was born in Redcliffe, taken to the Circle at age 6, broke out with Anders at age 16, got separated from Anders, went to Denerim, was taken in by Cyrion and his family, was caught up in the slave trade, was sent to an abusive master in Kirkwall, killed him to escape, was caught by Cullen and taken to the Gallows, broke out of the Gallows, found Anders again, Anders was crazy, got help from Hawke (Belladonna) to get to the Sundermount Dalish clan, was taken in by them, found them all killed in year 7, was taken to live with Clan Lavellan, hated it but didn’t want to be alone so she allowed them to give her vallaslin even though she didn’t want it, Conclave, Solasmance, Solas broke up with her, finally Cullenmance.  15. Do you like to talk about your OCs with other people? Idk. Kinda? Kinda not though. I get shy really easily. I like talking about them. But with other people? Idk.  16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)? Marina Shepard 17. Any OC OTPs? Among just my OCs? No. I don’t ship my girls together. But each of them is specifically designed for a specific romance.  18. Any OC crackships? Nah 19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why) Vikara has been with me through a lot. I’ve had her for like... 7 years now? She made it through a bad breakup, high school graduation, and all of college.  20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)? Genevieve Hawke sings frequently at the Hanged Man. She’s a Mezzosoprano if she really gets going and she tends to get throaty with it, kinda like Christina Aguilera or Gaga. Marina Shepard can sing but she’s a bit shy to do it. If her friends can boost her up enough, she will for them. She’s a tenor.  21. Your most artistic OC Vikara Lavellan writes poetry. Brilla Aeducan draws/paints (she painted Leliana fireside one night.)  22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how? People think Anna Hawke hates Sebastian, but that’s not true. She’s just threatened by him because she’s a mage, and he’s very vocal about turning in her mage friends. (She used to feel the same way about Fenris, but she fell in love too fast.)  23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like? Most of them.  24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why? Genevieve Hawke. She’s a very strong, proud woman.  25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?) Tbh, most of my OCs are just re-coded versions of myself. Except Rastig. But I guess Anna Hawke. The story I mentioned with her is focused on her weight issues and how Fenris helps her learn to love herself (and vice versa.)  26. Have you ever had to change your OC’s design or something else about them against your will? I mean, I’ve had Vikara for 7 years. Not all game platforms allow for the same character customizations.  27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song? Nah 28. Your most dangerous OC? Rastig Brosca and Titania Shepard.  29. Which one of your OCs would go investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone they’re going? Alena is actually about to fall into a well and ponder her death because she didn’t tell anyone, so, her.  30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection? Asena Adaar. Josephine thinks they’re darling, and they talk about their dolls together.  31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really) Marina Shepard is all about the memes, man. She’s nothin’ but jokes, nonstop, though once in a blue moon, she might reblog a picture of a nice ass (tastefully, of course.)  32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why? Kalam Adaar doesn’t get scared. She just cracks jokes until she feels better.  33. Your shyest OC? Anna Hawke. 34. Do you have any twin characters? Yes! Belladonna Hawke was a twin to Garrett Hawke (who is deceased.)  35. Any sibling characters? Beyond Belladonna, no. Though, Asena Adaar and Gemma Cadash are quite close. (Multi-inquisitor AU, but only Gemma has the mark. Asena is just part of the inner circle.)  36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)? Nah. I’m a solo-OCer 37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human I mean. I only have any human DA characters because I didn’t get a choice with Hawke. Even my queen is, in my lore, an elf because I really don’t like humans. Every single OC would be non-human if I had the choice.  38. Which one of your OCs would be the best dancer? Jack Ryder.  39. Introduce any character you want I have a Labyrinth story I started.............a longass time ago. The main character is Jacqueline (the French, not the American,) and she’s the daughter of Sarah. She is mute for most of the story because she was driving in an accident that killed her father. Sarah contacts Jareth and asks him to help fix Jack, help her overcome her guilt and trauma, so he takes her to the Labyrinth.  40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share! Not really. I love them all, the wee babs.  41. Has anyone drawn fanart of your OCs? If yes, maybe show a picture or two here (remember sources & permissions!) Nope.  42. Which one of your OCs would be the most interested in Greek gods? Titania Shepard. It wasn’t a huge leap for her to go from Shakespeare (where she supposes her namesake comes from) to mythology.  43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? It’s time to confess I like big noses, strong cheekbones, brilliantly colored eyes, and scars. Lots and lots of scars.  44. Something you like about your OCs in general They’re like my friends.  45. A character you no longer use? Psh. I can’t even remember. If I don’t use them, they’re lost forever.  46. Has anyone ever told you that you treat your OCs badly? Not yet 47. Has anyone ever (friendly) claimed any of your OCs as their child? IRL, nah. In games, most of my Shepards are bonded strongly to their krogan teammates, and then there’s Seirein who’s literally adopted.  48. OC who is a perfect cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure Brilla Aeducan 49. Which one of your OCs would most likely enjoy memes Kalam Adaar and Titania Shepard 50. Give me the good ol’ OC talk here. Talk about anything you want If you want, you can tag your ask answers with #yetanotherOCmeme so I can check them out too `v´9 I just really fking love them all. The biggest struggle is that I have so many I’m so invested in but I obviously can’t do anything with them all in one go. I have to focus on one then another then back to the one and it gets so frustrating because I have so many ideas and stories to come up with but so little time.
