girl this is so late but i was browsing the cassunzel tag and saw your post about sword and archer lesbians, unfortunate fact drawing a bow actually requires a lot more musclepower than wielding a two-handed sword, e.g. english longbows: hefty things that actually altered the bone development of those trained from a young age to shoot them ( a common misconception is that swords are quite heavy, when in reality they were light marvels of medieval engineering )

Short response to this: yes I know, but it’s just a headcanon

Long answer: I know, I’m an archer myself and I’ve studied this stuff for a while now (I have a lot of learning ahead of me though, believe me) but I hear you. It requires a lot of pull strength and as we know rapunzel, that bitch is strong like homegirl is pulling body weights of people with her hair. So yeah, she has the strength no doubt. Without mentioning Rapunzel stayed active by climbing walls her whole life.

Does she have the archery training to be an actual Soilder? No. But with the Ingvarri (crazy super trained warrior Viking women) teaching her I’m sure she’d have no issues in learning at least the basics of combat archery, pecially when you take into consideration that was a headcanon for the fic Shards: Starless by Colossus Rhodes (it’s a good fic, go read it!)

As for the whole “archers are smaller”, that’s just a depiction of archers I see often in media. It is by no means accurate in terms of how strong archers were in actual history. Since this is yet another form of media, I took the liberty of headcanoning because I said so.

is it just me or are c*ssunzel shippers on a whole different planet watching an entirely different show?? They are the only ones I have found to absolutely love episodes like Freebird and Beginnings solely because of the ship material they got and completely disregard all the poor writing in those episodes??

And then they also hate episodes like No Time Like the Past and Vigor the Visionary because there’s no Cassandra or ship material for them. They ignore anything that has to do with Eugene on most blogs I’ve seen too.

I’m okay with different opinions but I’m not okay with people completely misconstruing canon for their own head canon.

hgngh okay I get where this is coming from but also... the way people engage with media and what they want to get out of it is not something we can or should control?

It is annoying to see people posting takes which are honestly... wrong, and obviously stem from looking at canon with shipper goggles on, but cassunzel shippers are not the only people guilty of that, and I know I've seen some New Dream posts where I was like "I don't think this is really accurate but aww that's cute tho"

In a similar way, there are people who watch the show for like, idk, Varian, and it's not at all how I view TTS but also who am I to tell them to stop that asfhsjdj everyone's free to enjoy this show the way they please, and if it annoys me, i'm free to block people and tags to avoid their opinions 🤷‍♀

We're all biased in some ways, we all have our favourite things about this show, and our favourite episodes, our favourite characters and relationships and all... I'm not trying to say that I don't get your frustration because believe me, I do, I've seen the stupidest takes and I knooow how angry some made me, but like... keep in mind that, at the end of the day, no one is mandated to enjoy this show the way you or I do 😭 yes i WISH people wouldn't go "this [obviously false interpretation] is canon and if you don't agree with me you're stupid" all the time but urghhh that's how fandoms tend to be sadly

i know you ship new dream, but you accept all kinds of submissions, even including things like rapunzel and cassandra, but may i ask, does that bother you? because i too ship new dream and i hate it when i see rapunzel or eugene shipped with anyone other than each other. does it bother you too or do you just not care about shipping that much?

Honestly…? It bothers me, yes. I would never say it just to say it. I would never reblog a ship I don’t approve of and leave nasty comments on it. “If you can’t say something nice,” and all that. I’m only saying it now because I was asked directly.

Cassunzel is actually a NoTP of mine, and I will reblog it it if can be taken platonically, but I will not reblog it if it’s overtly romantic. (I actually have the tag blacklisted, which means that this very post will be blacklisted because it contains the word “Cassunzel”.)

And before anyone gets on my case, my reasoning has nothing to do with gender and everything to do with how I feel their relationship works. I don’t think Cass’ brand of sarcasm and bluntness is good for Rapunzel in a romantic setting. She’s very demanding of Rapunzel’s time and attention, and part of why Eugene works so well with Rapunzel is because he’s gentle with her, which Cassandra is not. They make excellent friends, but in a romantic setting, I just can’t accept it. I blacklisted the tag, because the overt Eugene erasure gets on my nerves, and I am entitled to make my dash a safe space for myself.

As I roleplayer, I ship chemistry, and while there’s nothing I love more than New Dream, I do participate in Rapunzel x someone else ships simply because the writing chemistry works. And honestly, who wouldn’t love Rapunzel if they took a minute to get to know her? Also, as a roleplayer, I see Eugene shipped with other people very often. I only have a few NoTPS for him, where I have to make sure I don’t see it on my dash.

I’m sorry if anything about this answer upset anyone, but like I said, I don’t begrudge other people their shipping preferences, I’m just not required to participate in them, and in this instance I was asked a direct question. Ship what you want. Do what’s best for you. But this is what’s best for me.
