OOC: Tag Game
Got tagged by @regicidalheart to list five songs I’ve had on repeat lately. I don’t know if I’d really say I had any of these really on “repeat” (except maybe the first one), but here’s some I’ve been listening to and enjoying lately:
1. Shivers, Ed Sheeran (prime Valice material here)
2. Bad Habits, Ed Sheeran (makes me think of “Londerland Bloodlines”)
3. Paranoid, Garbage (just like this one)
4. London Bridge, Fergie (. . .look, something made me think of it earlier and I found I enjoyed it)
5. 2 AM Theme, Animal Crossing New Horizons (I really like listening to video game soundtracks when reading stuff on the web and this is one of my FAVORITES)
That list was more eclectic than I thought it would be. Anyway, I’ll throw some tags at @slycooperandcarlosfox, @nebbychan, and @a-special-place-in-your-heart!
#~M: meanwhile in our reality (OOC)#~M: what’s going on here? (meme)#((I haven't really been listening to anything THAT often lately#beyond Shivers and Bad Habits#the latter because it's on the radio a lot at work#the former because of the Prime Valice of it#I guess I like Ed Sheeran XD#and yes the 2 AM theme from Animal Crossing New Horizons is great#I need more extended versions of it on YouTube#the hour version of it got blocked :( ))

Year in Review - Animal Crossing New Horizons
I started writing this review/criticism in May of 2020 but decided to update it as the year went along and post it on the anniversary of NH’s release. I would like to preface that this is mostly going to be full of questions of criticisms, I love this game. I have not been able to put it down since I got it on March 20th. My first AC game was NL and then I played HHD. I was ecstatic when they announced NH at E3 2019 and kept trying to find other games to fit in my AC shaped hole in my heart but I wasn’t able to fill it till this game came out. I feel like the pace of the game is great with how you build up to unlocking terraforming and 5 stars, and I feel like the updates are well timed especially with how crazy 2020 was for everybody. That being said there were some things that irked me.
Some of the points I will bring up came from other people/commenters I have seen on here, Discord, Reddit, and Twitter that I also agree with. Some other points are from Youtubers such as ShayMay and ChuyPlays. And others are from me.
With that out of the way, let’s get on with the review. Warning, I guess, don’t expect this to be an essay, this is just a patchwork quilt made up of thoughts.
Terraforming
I wish cliffs/tiers had a smaller level? Like how we’re able to make stepping stones for our rivers if we don’t want to put a bridge down/use our vaulting pole. I just wish there was a cliff alternative.
Another cliff alternative would be if we could put bridges between cliffs. I think we’ve all been there where we see this picture
thought ‘we can do that!!” then realized it was photoshopped
When we go into terraforming, I wish a grid showed up on our island. It would make it much easier to avoid hitting the wrong square when I’m trying to change a river.
Having us be able to “close” a waterfall from a lower level but not create a new on at the same spot.
Also the fact we can add a 4th tier but can’t put anything on it is just strange to me. I know we have to have a limit to how high we can go, but at least let me put nature stuff, such as trees/flowers/bushes, on top of it instead of just a flat piece of land.
Houses
Why no ceiling items? Find it odd they added a bunch of stuff in HHD and didn’t add that to the new mainline game
There’s no reason I can think of to why we can’t access our storage when we’re crafting inside our house.
Buildings
Dodo Airlines
The Dodo Islands right now are very boring and barely use them. I have enough money and materials to not go farming and save up all my NMTs for when I go villager hunting, which has also become a rarity. I think it would be a good idea to make some islands seasoned themed. Have them be all rare, but have an island where it’s fall and has maple leaves falling, a cherry blossom one, one with snowflakes. I wouldn’t recommend they make Holiday themed ones, but having seasonal ones would be nice.
When I mess up a dodo code or accidentally hit ‘make a bridge’ instead of incline, etc. why do I have to restart the ENTIRE conversation instead of the characters just being “oh? did you mean “x” or “would you like to retype it?” like is it that hard??
Resident Services
As much as I love Isabelle this game has made me very indifferent towards her. I think they gave her a role that didn’t need to exist. They could have either let us roam around without any warnings to who was roaming around our island, in the campsite, or any weather updates. Just have us rely on our villagers, the TV, and our eyeballs. OR they could have given us a social media like app and/or a weather app. Instead, they gave us Isabelle that only announces something once a month.
Nook’s Cranny
This might just be me but can they add a little DIY area in the store? Maybe just make to where you can only customize things?? This is more out of convenience than an actual problem
Speaking of customization, since you can make medicine but also buy can we do the same for the custom kits and bait. Like make it where we can buy bait and also make our own custom kits? I just think it’s weird that they give us either/or for medicine but not for the other 2 that I honestly use way more than medicine.
Why do the Able Sisters get to have all of the colors of an item in their shop but Nook’s Cranny can’t? And why can’t we just be able to customize all items that have multiple looks/colors? Example, why can’t I just be able to change the wood type for the antique set instead of having to buy each one? I get that the furniture catalog is already small, but that’s not my fault. They’ve decided to not add past furniture sets into NH.
Able Sisters
Let us multi select clothes instead of it just being how much we can wear. idc if it’ll just put those clothes in our personal storage and then we’ll have to run home and put it in that storage, I just hate having to walk back in and out every time I want a dress in multi colors. ALSO tell us if we already bought it, like a little storage icon or something
Why can’t we hang any article of clothing on the back wall, why do we have to either make it or have the OG qr designer come to our island?
Why can’t we have the transparent option when designing clothes? I think it would make many designer’s lives easier instead of having to make 8 versions of the same outfit.
NPCs
I have played this game almost every day since it came out, minus 2 days. I have also been able to make friends on discord that help with trading/cataloging/etc. I have all of Saharah’s, Kicks’, Label’s, and Redd’s items. I have all of the fish/bug models I want and have no desire to “catch them all”. I haven’t talked to Wisp in months because I have most of the items and his idea of “expensive” is 10k bells. The only NPC I actively look forward to is Celeste because even though I now have all of her DIYs, she still gives out star fragments, regular large or horoscope, when I talk to her.
What I’m wondering is if they’re planning on doing anything else with these characters. Before I speak further I’m going to weed out characters that I am actually fine with. CJ and Flick will always be there if I want a bug/fish model, I understand that Saharah/Kicks/Redd have a ton of stuff to get and w/o the help of my discord friends, I probably wouldn’t have gotten everything till late 2021.
So that leaves Label and Wisp. I understand Wisp is there for beginners, but now that I’m at a point where I am a bell millionaire and have most of the Nook’s items cataloged, there is no reason for me to talk to him. I wish Nintendo had put in a system where depending on the person who Wisp is talking to, it determines how much money you have in your bank account/looks at your catalog, Wisp’s item’s worth goes up.
As for Label...I never saw her as viable. I also thought the tickets were dumb and you don’t even have to talk to her to have her items show up in the shop the next day. I think it would be great if when you bought all of her items, she decided to join the Able’s sisters in their shop like in NL and then have Gracie show up in her place for the weekly NPC.
Where is Blanca? Or Brewster? Or Shrunk, Katrina, Gracie, or Kapp’n and his family? I understand we will probably never see characters like Harriet or Pete because they have been replaced by a new system, but what is the excuse for these other characters? I’m hoping they show up in year 2 of NH but...we’ll see.
Villagers
I think having your first villagers living in basic homes is a good idea but one that quickly gets annoying. I found Sherb while villager hunting for the 1st time and have had him ever since, but his house is stuck at basic lazy setup. Instead of me going back and forth on whether or not i should trust somebody enough to hold Sherb, get somebody else out, then get him to move back to my island, You can have it to where you let them leave, then just wait till he comes to the campsite to visit and reinvite him. You get his actual house and he still remembers you. This could also go for you accidentally letting somebody go or letting somebody go then regretting it. Also it’d be fun to see some old villagers again.
I was curious and looked back on past games to see how many new villagers were released each game and NH has been the least amount. NL released 112 new villagers in total while NH has released 8. I’m hoping they might release more down the line but, hella disappointing imo. Along with the Sanrio update and adding those characters to the game, I am more hopeful that they’ll be adding new characters!
Having an “event” of sorts where you visit a villager’s house and they’re looking inside their closet. They look at you in surprise when you walk in and sheepishly explain that they were going through their clothes/items. They then decide to ask you for help since they can’t decide what to get rid of/what to keep and think you have a good eye for that sort of thing. Basically, a way to get rid of any clothes/items your villager somehow received bc I guess Isabelle scolding them isn’t enough.
A big problem I feel like everybody has is the villager dialogue. Yes they added sub personality types for each personality but they are not perfectly cut in half, ex. are the Sisterly types where there are 4 B types and 20 A types, like?? How I have “fixed” this problem is by having one of each personality type on my island so I always have different conversations with my villagers, but I understand not a lot of people do that. Some people just want normal/peppy types on their island bc they’re cute as hell, I get it. I know it would be...difficult to come up with unique dialogue for all 399 villagers, including Sanrio, but....you could at least for the “gimmicky” villagers. Some examples of these villagers are Ribbot and Sprocket, Lucky and Ankha, the super hero squad, and Kabuki.
Quality Life stuff
Why cant we sit AND wish on stars? And I don’t mean the sit emote; why can’t I sit on a bench and wish on stars?
It sucks when I’m about to hit my rocks or just do a lot of dig work and then my shovel breaks in the middle of it. To show the tool is about to break, cracks should start to form on the handle and get deeper/longer as you keep using it, starting when you have 5 uses left. You can also add an auditory element by making the tool sound like its struggling when you are using it. Net/Shovel/Axe/Fishing Pole can have cracks show up on the handle, Slingshot can have crack show up at the bottom of the 2 spokes while having 1 at the top of the handle. And the watering can have cracks at the base of the can.
If our inventory is full when I dig up a flower, why can’t I replace it with another flower to bury? And if I can dig up an item at an diagonal item, I should be able to bury it again at the same angle.
Other
Having more...liveliness?? on the island, idk how else to say it. Example is whenever you travel by plane there's a chemtrail in the sky afterwards, maybe just seeing other planes go by throughout the day. Maybe you can get a hint Redd or Gulliver will be visiting you tomorrow if you see their boats beyond the horizon, Redd’s just crusin’ and the Gulls’ boats looking messed up. On a week where you don't have a new camper, maybe have an old villager visit. That leads me too
I wish villager’s doors could count as “exterior decorating” and we can just put any ornamental on there instead having to hope that your villager will put the wreath on their own door.
Conclusion
If you read this whole thing holy shit, thanks!! Go treat yourself on my part lol If you disagreed with me or whatever feel free to chat with me about it!

2020 year in review
It’s funny, last year I never actually got around to doing one of these. I didn’t think it was overly interesting. Oh 2019, how I miss you so 😭Such an innocent time ....
I’ll do a quick recap, cause hey no-one but me reads these anyway. 2019 was a glorious time. I went to Italy for the first time, went on an awesome Hunter Valley trip with my friends, had a 100th birthday celebration for my pop, I got to see the show I worked on air on TV, we saw the Lano and Woodley apartment in Melbourne .... Good times!
I didn’t give a rats about being unemployed and took matters into my own hands by making loads of new merch and selling at the most conventions I’ve ever been to. I tabled at Sydney Supanova, Adelaide Avcon, Sydney SMASH, Coffs Nexus Con, Sydney Oz Comic Con and Brisbane Supanova! I did so much travelling and events, it became my full time job. It was exhausting, but it was loads of fun, it paid the bills nicely, and it was wonderful to meet followers and mutuals in person.
My partner was very invested in counting up the numbers of what was selling and what wasn’t, and taking note of what was inconvenient with my setup and how to make it better. He even made a powerpoint presentation on what I could focus on for 2020, what kind of merch I could focus on and adding more conventions to my list. We were both excited about the idea of trying out Armageddon in New Zealand, which would have been my first overseas convention!
Cue 2020.
It started off uneasy. There were still bushfires everywhere and smoke hanging around, but I was optimistic they would die soon and the rest of the year would be fine. I booked a bunch of conventions early as usual. Got a whole bunch of new things made and ordered for the first convention of the year, Melbourne Supanova in early April. Some Acrylic charms didn’t make it in time because of COVID, but I thought that’s ok I still have a whole years worth of conventions to sell them at!
COVID-19 was just a spooky mysterious thing that was happening overseas at that point. I think there might have been 1 case in Australia, so all the toilet paper and hand sanitizer was sold out, but we were still able to do our usual travelling for the event. Little did I know, Melbourne Supanova was the first and last event I could do in 2020.
COVID hit Australia hard, Melbourne especially. There were lockdowns, quarantines, planes were grounded, airmail was halted, the cases kept multiplying, rules kept changing and changing and it was all so new and such a headache. Seeing every single convention I had booked cancel one after the other was hard to process. This was my main source of income in 2019 and now it’s up and vanished. Everyone were losing their jobs too, so the idea of getting a new job was completely out the window.
I tried to cheer myself up by drawing ‘Toilet Paper Chan’, my new magical girl character who has the ability to summon toilet paper in a time of need 😅
I made it into a Draw This In Your Style challenge, seeing as everyone was bored out of their minds in quarantine I hoped it was something people could pass the time and have fun making.
(here’s a handful of my favourites) I had a few entries which were all very adorable, but I admit not as many people joined as I expected. I don’t blame them though, this whole pandemic was very soul sucking and demotivating, especially hearing the constant stream of bad news when it all started.
I also made some lineart of a cute Easter girl, encouraging people to colour her in if they are bored in quarantine.
That was really fun, and I planned to do more, perhaps whole colouring books for a small price to download.
Then, out of nowhere, my friend from the last animation studio I worked at in 2018 contacted me. “Hey Tess, are you looking for work?”
“Um .... yes?”
Work? In 2020? What?
It turns out the animation industry is one of the only industries that are doing fine in the pandemic. Literally the only change is that animators have to work from home instead of at a studio. If you have the animation software and an internet connection you have everything you need.
So my good friend had recently scored this job for a studio which outsources all their animation for their animated TV series. The role is just fixing up any animation errors inhouse to minimize the amount of back-and-fourth between studios. It doesn’t sound like much but it became too big a job for just one dude to handle, so he contacted me and 2 of my other animation friends to help out. We had a ball!
It was loads of fun, and the contract lasted the whole year!
It wasn’t just fixing up errors either, I got to animate walking/ running / jumping / flying cycles for the overseas animators to use, which was great practice for me, and we even had a whole episode to ourselves to animate from scratch which I really enjoyed.
And then ... the year just flew by, because I was busy working the whole time. It was really quite surreal!
There were a few highlights, such as being a bridesmaid for my best friend’s wedding and organising her hens party, which is one of those once-in-a-lifetime things.
(Hens Party - it was yellow themed (her favourite colour) and High Tea.. it was adorable!)
(The bridesmaids and the bride on the Wedding Day)
Unfortunately there were some lowlights too ... This was the last year I got to see my aunt.
She was the craziest, funniest aunt, and still far too young to go. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever be the same without her.
As always, drawing is the only way I cope with anything. My family chose a plain wooden casket, encouraging everybody to write a message or draw something on it, before it would be sent to the crematorium. I drew Spotty, her awesome horse I remember from my childhood, surrounded by her favourite flowers. Monty draw Mingus, her awesome ferret we also remember from our childhood.
That wasn’t the only bad news either. Pat’s Grandpa passed away later in the year, and a handful of my friends had relatives who either passed away or were diagnosed with cancer or some other horrible life threatening disease. A musician who collaborated with favourite artist collaborated passed as well, and even though I didn’t know him personally, it was still horribly devastating. Not to mention all my friends/relatives pets who didn’t make it through 2020. There was just so much loss this year, and I’m still grieving my cousin and my friend’s mum who both passed last year, it’s getting harder and harder to cope. It’s gotten to the point where I’m paranoid about who the next person will be because I haven’t finished grieving the last ...
All I can say is I hope 2021 is a little kinder when it comes to my loved ones. The small light at the end of the tunnel is; any suicidal thoughts I used to have frequently have all completely vanished, because I’ve been faced with the reality of it all. You really don’t realise how many people love you, people you don’t even know.
...
That was very dark, but it’s definitely something I needed to get off my chest.
Lets go back to a much lighter note.
More highlights:
🌻Animal Crossing New Horizons came out this year! I used to play Wild World back in the day so it was wonderfully nostalgic, and me and Pat have made the cutest little town with all our favourite villagers. It’s a nice way to escape from it all ^_^
(Monty’s island when we started)
🌻Speaking of games, the brand new Crash Bandicoot came out this year too! It was actually jaw droppingly amazing seeing all the awesome new ideas and mechanics they came up with while still keeping it classicly Crash. I loved it and I’m so excited to see if they give Spyro the same treatment!
🌻2020 brought about new and interesting ways to still enjoy Live entertainment. Lano and Woodley did a Zoom show which was absolutely hilarious, and Lights did an amazing online Dead End show which had me so pumped!
🌻Pat and I continued our anniversary High Tea tradition, this time trying it out at the Hydro Majestic hotel in the Blue Mountains!
🌻Speaking of Pat, his sister got married this year too, despite the pandemic. Congratulations!
🌻Pat randomly bought a Miku figure for himself, out of the blue, completely unravelling years of unnecessary ‘shame’ I’ve inherited caused by a pushy mother and a crappy ex. I used to love figure collecting but was convinced by certain judgy people that it was stupid and I needed to sell them all. I kept my very favourites in a cupboard ‘just incase they increase in value’. But now I can finally display them all again knowing Pat loves them just as much as I do!
We also added a ton more to the collection to make up for lost time (and because there’s SO MANY CUTE MIKUS NOWADAYS)
It’s a bit messy because we recently got new ones and need to make more space for them. The shelf with the Vocaloid nendoroids were my original ones hidden away in the cupboard, the rest we got this year ^_^ They make me so happy!
🌻Speaking of Pat unlocking things I’ve always wanted to do in the past: I am now planning to revive my old OCs Yui and Lotto! They were just characters of mine back in the day, but since I’m not good writing I never really came up with a story for them. But with Pat’s writer wisdom and my kawaii art style, I’m now planning a webcomic featuring the two cuties ^_^ It’s still in the very early planning stages but I’m super excited, and forever grateful for Pat, for believing in me ;w;
🌻This year I drew 31 more Owl City songs in copic markers, to go towards my ongoing project to draw every song! I’m actually getting quite close to my goal now which is exciting!
🌻This year I went to a Drive-In movie theatre for the first time to see the new Bill and Tedd movie, it was glorious and now I wanted to try more drive-ins. Going out to see a movie on a big screen *without* being able to hear smart-asses or screaming babies? Yes please!!
🌻How could I forget, this was the year my idol noticed me!! Lights shared and retweeted my Deadend fanart! Life = made.
What to to look forward to in 2021:
This is the first New Year where I actually have an idea of how 2021 will go! I managed to secure another animation job at a new studio starting January, ending January 2022 😊So thats the financial security for this year sorted! :P
As for general goals for 2021;
I’m hoping to have a decent plan, concept art, chapter ideas and hopefully even a script done for my new webcomic! I also wanted to make some cute simple animations of the characters just because c:
I’d also like to just do more of my own animation in general ... I animate every day for work but I never get to do my own animated projects. It will be hard with a full time job, so maybe this can be a 2022 goal ... but hopefully I can do at least one little animation of my own!
I suppose another goal is to make a social media accounts for my animation, too. Even if I don’t fulfil my goal, I still would like a page to showcase everything I’ve done so far.
And if all else fails .... Another goal is to draw more Miku. It’s crazy that I love her this much and haven’t drawn any fanart!
I think I’ll leave it there because I’m babbling now. 😅
I’ve done so many of these now o_o

ARE YOU ALL READY
for my first ten days in Animal Crossing New Horizons in picture form (aka the 20th-29th)
because I have close to 3,000 screenshots and it was hard go through them all but I did (mostly because I ran out of the 10,000 limit and had to upload them to my computer anyway)
letsa gooo
The start of the game.
Heck yeah, Tommytown. Also shoutouts to Rocket and Teddy, my first new friends in the town. Can’t say I relate to Rocket, but she’s pink and has a pink house eventually so that’s nice. Teddy’s okay, though not a fan of Jocks in general.
Thanks, random motivational dream K.K.
The start of Nyville
People say Timmy and Tommy are the same, and I admittedly was not a fan of them in ACNL, but I know thanks to this game that Tommy is a true friend and I would die for this tanuki
Also shoutouts to catching like two tarantulas in the first night, jesus
And in one night, managed to get Blathers to want to join our town.
And then the rest of the days came.
DAY 2
Met Gulliver (jerk thinks my head is big all the time)
Made some pro designs and changed my hair
Lots of good friend visits/visiting (though one random guy I added from Splatoon invaded and stole all my apples, rippp)
and that was my second day of playing
AND ALSO I’VE RECEIVED A LOT OF NICE LETTERS FROM PEOPLE... I am bad at writing letters and I’m not sure if people would want them public but aaaa thank you for the letters (shout outs to lala-ko in particular what a good AC frienddd)
DAY 3
Lots of things being built
Got some reactions~
MABLE... but, more importantly, that means...
SABLE... the best NPC in the game...
More friendshippp
Paid off my first loan~
Also shoutouts to local friend letting me get some apples to make some furniture for people to move in after some jerk stole all mine
Also met Harvey, what a dude. ALSO, MY OLD FRIENDS...
And that was only day three of my adventures.
DAY 4
Met Wendy, a Peppy Sheep. You’re okay, Wendy, you’re okay.
BY THE WAY THE MUSEUM IS GORGEOUS
they did not have to go that hard but they did
whoops I didn’t expect it to be that close oh well, I can move things around later so for now everything is next to each other for convenience
also met a ghost friend and he gave me expensive(?) flooring
DAY 5
Got a cute alligator friend, you’re okay too, Gayle. ALSO I SEE YOU MABLE...
Also, finally, new phone, who dis? Dis stylin’ Nyrator. May adjust it later on since I found there’s a template online on how it works.
Did some fishing as well, apparently caught some rare first that day.
Nook continues to ruin me financially, but at least I got more storage space.
DAY 6
Some frog joined, and I think I’d like him if it wasn’t for the burpy noises and the facial hair. Lazy villagers seem great in this game though.
hello Saharah
thanks for all the rugs/wallpaper I guess
Thanks, Wendy.
ALSO SHOUT OUTS TO KOMETA a good friend she got me a lovely heart apron and hair pin and pink hoodie and things and they’re so nice and aaaa thank youuu
Also made more pixel art designs because why not
even wendy agrees
DAY 7
it better, Nook
give me Tommy back to wander the island with his flag and leaf umbrella I miss socializing with Tommy
excuse you Nook told me you wanted this here
more friendship
this game a nice game to socialize in with people (even though I’m terrible at it I apologize especially for never imitating anything with anyoneee)
the letters and the casual tours and having fun are really nice, plus it’s nice to just share things like fossils and DIY recipes, good times
thanks, Wendy
ALSO LOOK AT THIS BAD BOY
It took over 50 bait until I failed a catch and failed getting that one achievement again (farthest was 81/100 fishing in a row and I keep getting into the 60s-80s before screwing up, close to 90 today though so we’ll see how it goes), after failing I was like, heck with it, just throw bait over the small fish until a big one appears, and sure enough, my second-to-last bait, and my third large fish, bam, this baby arrives.
ALSO SPEAKING OF BLATHERS
STAR WANDDDD...
thank you celeste now give me your bow...
Didn’t see a meteor shower at this point, but you better believe I just crafted one today and boy is it good (though stores clothing in the wand which is a bit weird but saves my storage space a bit, I just need to buy multiple hairpins)
DAY 8
there she is, the jingly girl herself
also I put a podium there but misplaced it, sorry Nook I’ll get it right tomorrow- oh wait you don’t do these outside anymore... ripppp
However, before any of that silly nonsense
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LALA
you don’t know how heartwarming it was to be invited to this and celebrate this that morning, had no idea it was happening until it happened, but aaaaaaaaaa so wholesome...
SERIOUSLY THIS WAS ONE OF MY MOST WHOLESOME ANIMAL CROSSING EXPERIENCES...
so anyway back to Nook and Isabelle
and getting this immediately because heck with all the inventory management in this game
So Project K, got it. Heck yeah, K.K.
Also made a town theme (forgot to screenshot it but it’s the Yume Nikki save theme, might change it to Mary Had a Little Lamb though), and also a flag design was already prepareddd
also hi Gulliver again
and a campsite...
heck yeah it’s all coming together
YEAH WHAT OF IT
WENDY YOU WERE JUST COMPLIMENTING ME
jerks all of you are jerks but you’re all still pretty okay/10 (not Merry/Kyle level though)
DAY 9
seriously though rip that podium idea
thank you mabel...
And a campsite~
EXCUSE ALL OF YOU WITH YOUR PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE SUGGESTIONS
Kometa gave me this apron and I will continue to cherish it
But yes, that’s about it for today~ Town’s unweeded, campsite’s built, things have been slowing down while at the same time picking up~
DAY 10
okay cool
okay AAAA YESSSSSS SABLE TIMEEEE FASHION TIMEEEEE...
also hello Daisy Mae, the internet loves you for some reason, can I have some turnips
that is expensive you little snot nosed brat but fine I’ll play your stalk market games, cover my whole town in four million bells worth of turnips again like ACNL...
Also thanks Lyle, I’m a B apparently.
Wow okay I don’t even have a choice, rippp
at least he’s smug, smug villagers are the best personality of villagers
heckk yeahhhh bad placements all arounddddd
I can’t wait to start fixing this island up to a better shape, rip my haphazard placement (I admit I kind of miss the randomness of earlier games, having this much control is weird)
AND THAT’S THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF ACNH...
I may have ran out of screenshot space early the next day and thus uploaded them all to my computer because I need that space (10,000 screenshots, man...)
Got a lot accomplished, I feel~ Still haven’t paid off my back room loan, but I got a bridge paid, got another bridge on the opposite side being built, and I saw some meteor showers the past two nights AND GOT A STAR WAND...
Got Gwen and Hamphrey also moving in and can’t get Merry in town just yet but she’s in the campsite, watching, waiting... debating if I should get ten randos first before moving cards in, though
Also met Gulliver/Celeste/Wisp again the past few days, and also today is the beginning of Easter stuff (so many eggs, also random esports fish guy, he’s weird, also NO BLANCA, rip my empty-faced April Fools cat dude thing (apparently a girl in the US? but I will continue to be a weeb and think of them as their Japanese selves mostly because the voices tend to be masculine)
but yeah made like over 100 wishes in two days and got a bunch of neat star things (not as many as I’d thought I’d get but I’ll take it)
Also, SABLE IS A FRIEND and I love the clothing store but am weirded out that I can’t seem to order things in bulk, just what I’m wearing in the dressing room, which is awkward. Oh wellll
(also may have realized I never got a recent passport screenshot so went and did thattt, should think up more titles maybe)

Best of E3 2019 ~ Belated Edition
E3 2019 - held June 11-13, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA - is already ancient history, but that's not stopping me from from giving some belated impressions of what was on display or announced at this year's show. Better late than never, right? Without further delay, here are my top 10 Nintendo-related highlights from the recent gaming extravaganza.
10. Heroland This is a weird game: you act as a guide for a group of would-be heroes in an adventurer-focused theme park. The graphics are rather simple, and your party members more or less fight on their own, with you having only limited control over their actions. However, the story and writing in this XSEED-published title are hilarious and seem like they'll compensate for any gameplay shortcomings.
9. Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield The demo for Pokémon Sword & Shield was pretty limited and didn't tell me much about the game I wasn't already expecting, but the big news for me was Yamper, the corgi Pokémon. How can you not love a corgi Pokémon?! If I hadn't been sold on the game before, well, I certainly am now.
8. Animal Crossing: New Horizons Yes, it's too bad it got delayed, and yes, I wish it had been playable, but it's great to see that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming along well and including features like crafting and a bigger focus on multiplayer. It should be great!
7. Fire Emblem: Three Houses In the space of one trailer, Fire Emblem: Three Houses made a tonal shift from Harry Potter Year 1 to Harry Potter Year 7. I can't wait to see how it all plays out when the game hits in July.
6. amiibo! I'm always excited for more amiibo, but even more so when it involves favorite franchises like Zelda and Castlevania. It was great to finally get a look at characters like Richter Belmont, Incineroar, Dark Samus, and Chrom, and I could always use a new version of Link!
5. Astral Chain This is another one that I wish had been playable on the show floor, but I'm very excited for it nonetheless. It looks to have all the great action that we've come to expect from Platinum Games, along with a lot of exploration and investigation and an extremely compelling cyberpunk world.
4. Luigi's Mansion 3 I expected Luigi's Mansion 3 to be good, but the demo surpassed my expectations. The demo was dense and full of cool things to discover in every room, and I especially love the ability to slam ghosts into each other. Visually it's spectacular as well. And the E3 booth, which was practically a Luigi's Mansion 3 theme park attraction, was one of the best reasons to actually go to the show.
3. Hero & Banjo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Though neither Dragon Quest nor Banjo-Kazooie are personal top-tier favorites of mind, I'd be hard pressed to think of two more deserving characters to be added to the Smash Bros. roster. I've always wanted to smack my friends with a bird.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening The original Link's Awakening is in my top 25 games of all time, so I had high expectations for this one, and the E3 demo met all of them. It's a game I've loved for 25 years, with a gorgeous new "diorama-come-to-life" look, enhanced controls, and just enough newness for the game to feel fresh while still retaining all charm and familiarity of the original. The actual handcrafted dioramas in Nintendo's booth were amazing too, and sign me up for the special edition that includes an artbook!
1. The Legend of Zelda: BOTW Sequel Predictable, yes, but how can I not pick the Switch follow-up to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? As a landmark entry in one of my favorite series, I can't wait to see where Nintendo takes the series from here. Was that really Ganondorf's body? Will Zelda be playable? How will the formula change!? I can't wait to find out.
BONUS: Top 3 Non-Nintendo-Related Highlights of E3 2019
3. Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III Despite the publisher change from XSEED Games to NIS America, Trails of Cold Steel III doesn't seem to have lost a step. It's about as classically inspired and traditional as you can get when it comes to RPGs on console these days, which is perfect for old-school enthusiasts like myself.
2. Sega Genesis Mini Speaking of old-school, I was thrilled to go hands-on with the Sega Genesis Mini and finally play an English version of Mega Man: The Wily Wars. I'm looking forward to a lot of games on this piece of hardware, but none more than that. It's a dream come true after 25 years!
1. TMNT arcade machine from Arcade 1up Likewise, I was very impressed by the scaled-down four-player Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade unit from Arcade 1up. Featuring both the first and second TMNT coin-ops, these are some of my favorite arcade games ever released, and they've never been available at home in arcade-perfect form before (although the Xbox 360 port was very close). Where am I going to keep an arcade machine, even a scaled-down one? I don't know, but I guess I'll find out!

musicians that get constant stream on my Spotify
doing this cause I'm actually so bored. this is going to be a long post
5 Seconds of Summer (Australian)
I’ve loved these guys since their first album dropped and seeing them grow into these beautiful young men they are now fills my heart with so much love and pride.
Year I started listening - 2014
First song I listened to - She Looks So Perfect
First 2 albums have pop-punk vibes. 2nd album gets quite personal and has helped me through some shit. 3rd album is different but cool. Very vibey alt-pop stuff. EPs are very underrated.
All Time Low (American)
Whipped from the start. Probably the most unproblematic artist out there. Just a couple of boys who want to play their music and see their fans. Pure™️. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Dear Maria, Count Me In
All albums up to Don’t Panic are very pop-punk. Future Hearts is pop-punk but there was this idk growth thing and it was just somewhat different to its predecessors. Kind of the record where they grew out of the ‘whiny pop-punk sk8er bois’ and into more alt-rock. Last Young Renegade was very different. Some pop-punk tracks some alt-rock some completely different. Loved it nonetheless. New songs scream Dirty Work and I’m living for it. Dirty Work is also extremely underrated and everyone should listen to it.
Boy Hero (American)
A bit like the love child of Sleeping With Sirens and Panic! At The Disco. Idk how to describe it but it’s hell good.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - How Far I'll Go (Cover). Rebel Flesh (Original song)
These guys have a whole bunch of covers. Self titled is pretty good. Also they like anime and they do twitch streams. Lead singer lowkey sounds like Brendon Urie. Got a powerful voice.
Bring Me The Horizon (UK)
Big British metal core band
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Can You Feel My Heart
First album was deathcore then went to metalcore and got less heavy over time. Lots of people didn’t like the last album but I liked it. It was different but good different. Liked how they decided to play with new sounds. Also makes it easier to cover their songs.
Counterfeit (UK)
British rock band. Also surprise remember the guy who played Jace in the Mortal Instruments movie yeah well he’s the lead singer.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Lost Everything
Got a some EPs and the album is great. Should not be slept on.
Ed Sheeran (UK)
Ok everyone should know him or you’ve been living under a rock.
Year I started listening - 2011
First song I listened to - Give Me Love
First album was straight up acoustic singer-songwriter stuff. Cute and stuff. Next 2 albums experimented with sound and it was great. There’s at least 1 song on each album that will make you cry. Actually went to his concert for the divide tour and it was great. Very chill.
The Faim (Australian)
Alt-rock with some pop-punk influences in there. Fairly new band and went under the name of Small Town Heroes before the name change. Sounds a bit like Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy and All Time Low.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Midland Line
The EP Summer Is A Curse is out now and boy it is good. Just waiting for the album to be released. They wrote some tracks with Ashton Irwin, Mark Hoppus, Pete Wentz, Josh Dun and John Feldmann and Zack Cervini produced it. I have very high hopes for the album. Entire band has this amazing stage energy which is absolutely mesmerising to watch.
Fall Out Boy (American)
Once again if you have’t heard of them you’ve been living under a rock.
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - Immortals (bless Big Hero 6)
Extremely pop-punk before the hiatus. Went into some cool different stuff after hiatus. Mania was very different than their previous albums and I actually didn’t like it too much at first but I gave it a few more listens and I loved it.
Gang of Youths (Australian)
An Australian indie band. Different to what I usually listen to. Very chill.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows
Latest albums is amazing. All the albums have a mix of bops and sad songs so you never know what you’re going to be hit with. Great lyrics throughout. Talks about real life issues in a number of the songs, some personal to the band’s life.
Green Day (American)
You have been living under a rock if you havent heard of these guys.
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - Wake Me Up When September Ends
Before American Idiot was like underground punk rock songs. After American Idiot got some pop influenced melodies which got them into more mainstream rock. Bops, anger, sadness and overall feelings throughout. Broadway Musical version is extremely slept on and I saw the production and it is a masterpiece. Left me kind of breathless at the end.
Harry Styles (UK)
Living under a rock if you don’t know who this wonderful man is
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Sign Of The Times
Super different from his 1D career. Has some old classic rock influences. Bops and sad songs throughout. Powerful voice and has an amazing stage presence. Media portrays him so badly when he’s actually such a wonderful human being.
I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME (American)
Ex Panic! member and ex Falling In Reverse member come together to make some cool different music. 2 beans chilling in a band together.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Choke
Music is kind of weird but cool. Bops throughout and should really release more music. Label company really needs to hurry up with whatever they’re doing cause the album’s finished but they haven’t released it.
Mayday Parade (American)
This band literally writes the saddest music known to humankind. Also unproblematic and everyone loves them. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Miserable At Best
First 3 albums are very pop-punk. Next 2 go into more alt-rock and pop-rock. Last album are a mix of both. It sounds pop-punk but still maintains that level of growth the band has gone through since the start of their career. Be prepared with tissues cause this band will make you cry.
Mike Shinoda (American)
The rapper dude from Linkin Park. Literally the only rap artist I listen to.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Crossing A Line
Latest album is super personal but a masterpiece. Raps are amazing and vocals are on point.
My Chemical Romance (American)
Should this even be on my list cause they’re not a band, they’re an idea
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - Welcome To The Black Parade
1st album was post-hardcore and somewhat depressing. Albums got less heavier over the years. Each album also has a different theme so there’s days where I feel like I need to listen to Danger Days and other days where I need to listen to The Black Parade. Also my music teacher likes them which really surprised me since he’s an old guy that likes to listen to jazz.
One Direction (UK)
Was a 1D fangirl and still is a 1D fangirl
Year I started listening - 2011
First song I listened to - What Makes You Beautiful
All of the albums are absolutely amazing. Got less pop over time. Lots of bops with some sadness thrown in which makes my heart hurt. Not afraid to bop to them in public.
Palaye Royale (Canadian)
Actually found them when CrankThatFrank did a video with them. Still waiting for the kazoo kid to perform with Satan’s Favourite Boy Band. Just 3 brothers who want to play some music. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Mr. Doctor Man
Boom Boom Room Side A is a quality album and I’m so hyped for Boom Boom Room Side B. Rock band that likes fashion and makeup. EPs have solid songs in them.
Panic! At The Disco (American)
Living under a rock if you haven’t heard of them.
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Each album has a different vibe to it so it depends on what you feel like that day on what you listen to. Didn't really like Pray For The Wicked but gave it a few more listens and I love it.
Pierce The Veil (Mexican-American)
Post-hardcore band of Sexicans based in America.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - King For A Day ft. Kellin Quinn
Got less heavy over each album. Collide With The Sky is probably my favourite album. Currently writing album 5 which I am extremely excited for. Vic Fuentes’ voice is quite high and but you get used to it. Screams are excellent.
PVMNTS (American)
Pronounced as pavements but they decided to not have vowels. Also remember Tyler Posey from Teen Wolf well yeah he’s the lead singer in the band. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Jumping Stairsets
Has a lot of early 2000s pop-punk influences. Sounds like Blink-182. Very excited for some more music from them. These guys did a UK tour with The Faim. Released an EP recently.
Shawn Mendes (Canadian)
Living under a rock if you haven’t heard of this sweet boy.
Year I started listening - 2015
First song I listened to - Stitches
Newest album is very real and super chill. Got some new different sounds in it. First 2 albums are heavy on the singer songwriter genre. Amazing writing and his voice has a somewhat raspy tinge and extremely powerful at the same time.
Sleeping With Sirens (American)
Yes this is the band where the lead singer sounds like a girl.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - If You Can’t Hang
Newest album is quite different to their past stuff but I really like it. Explored some issues in the songs which they haven’t previously done. Overall either angry or soft.
Story Untold (Canadian)
Pop-punk band. Lead singer (Janick Thibault) used to post a lot of covers on YouTube. Went under the name of Amasic before. Lead singer low-key sounds like Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day. Also kind of looks like Alex Gaskarth and Awsten Knight. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - History
2 albums out currently. 1st album was extremely pop-punk. 2nd album explored some different sounds but still pop-punk. Also signed to Hopeless Records.
A Summer High (American)
Found them through CrankThatFrank when he did a reaction vid to songs I’ve never heard before. On the last Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2018
First song I listened to - Pretty Little Liar
Think fetus 5SOS and that’s basically their sound. Basically the kids who never left their pop-punk sk8er boi phase. Has quite a few covers and needs to tour with 5SOS. All 3 of them can sing and they sing like angels.
SWMRS (American)
Yes this is the band that has Billie Joe Armstrong’s kid in it. Also it’s pronounced Swimmers. Just they didn’t like vowels. Originally named Emily’s Army but they changed the name. Found these guys through a reaction to songs I’ve never heard before from CrankThatFrank
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Lose It
Kind of like indie-surf-punk idk but it’s good. Drive North has some anger and some bops just an overall good album. Can’t wait for some new music from them.
Twenty Øne Piløts (American)
Living under a rock if you haven’t heard of them. Can’t even begin to describe the genre cause they’re just that different.
Year I started listening - 2016
First song I listened to - Ride
Bops mixed with deep lyrics and sadness. Raps are amazing. Poetic writing. 2 talented beans who deserve so much. New music is heavier and it will go so hard live I cannot wait.
The Vamps (UK)
I had a phase with this band and their first 2 albums get heavy repeat.
Year I started listening - 2014
First song I listened to - Somebody To You
First 2 albums are absolute bops. Mixed feelings from their 3rd album. Vocals are great.
Waterparks (American)
Metaphors. Metaphors everywhere. God’s Favourite Boy Band. On the final Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - I’m A Natural Blue
The EPs are great also angry and a lil bit of screaming. This band are a blessing sent from heaven and are pure boys. Follow Awsten on Twitter for the best quality content. Don't expect anything from Otto on social media he never uses it. Double Dare is cute but also slightly angry. Entertainment is full of anger and angst and sadness and it’s beautiful. Excellent songwriting.
With Confidence (Australian)
Pop-punk. Very pop-punk. Jayden Seeley has a beautiful voice. On the last Warped Tour.
Year I started listening - 2017
First song I listened to - Voldemort
First album is a poetic masterpiece. Some bops and some sadness (looking at you Long Night). Excellent songwriting throughout. Love and Loathing is probably one of the best albums of 2018.
Lol that’s it. Will probably update everytime I get into another band.

Weekend Top Ten #434
Top Ten Games According to Daughter #1
This weekend we celebrate my eldest daughter’s birthday, and I’m returning to the well of allowing her to pick my Top Ten. This time we’re keeping with the videogame theme as Daughter #1 picks her Top Ten games.
This is partly inspired by her wanting to have a gaming themed birthday, which in itself is partly a result of having to stay inside because of The Ongoing Troubles. Prior to this she wanted to invite a small group of friends over to have homemade pizza and watch My Neighbour Totoro, which is just as nice an idea as far as I’m concerned. Anyway, she’s specifically stated she wanted to spend the day playing a range of games, from Animal Crossing to Stardew Valley to Pokémon Sword and goodness knows what else. And as by the time you read this her birthday will have more or less happened, I can declare that she got some new games too, including a Nintendo Labo kit, which is pretty cool.
Anyway, I’ve always tried to sensibly encourage gaming with my kids, as I think it’s a great hobby that can also have a lot of benefits in terms of social interaction, stimulating an interest in STEM, improving hand-eye co-ordination, things like that. Plus it’s arguably the newest major artform and I hope it’s an even bigger part of popular culture for their generation than it was for mine (I grew up with gaming being huge but still thought of as a bit of a nerdy hobby for spoddy kids). When Daughter #1 was very little I introduced her to the Traveller’s Tales LEGO games (the first LEGO Marvel Super Heroes remains incredibly popular), and from their she’s dabbled in Yooka-Laylee, Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure, Joyride Turbo, and more, until the last year or so when her interest has really grown into a proper hobby. Not a day goes by when she doesn’t want to play on one device or another, and although I’ve got the usual parent niggles about a kid being sedentary or spending too much time staring at a screen (which, obviously, is just as big an issue if they’re watching Waffle the Wonder Dog on a tablet), I am very pleased that she’s genuinely cultivating an enriching and exciting hobby. This has extended to giving her an interest in coding and wanting to design her own games, and that’s fantastic.
So here we are, another birthday, another list, and I feel simultaneously excited and happy for her but also decrepit and ancient. I wrote out a big list of all the games I could remember that she’d played and enjoyed, and of that list she highlighted ten of them, but refused to further delineate them. Therefore in something of a Top Ten rarity, these games are presented not in order of preference or quality but simply alphabetically; it’s her Ten so I guess it’s her rules.
Oh, and I tried to get her to chime in with her opinions, as part of a more general drive to get her to examine things critically or analyse them a bit more (this is something she’s doing at school, too, being asked to do book reviews and suchlike). However she was rather brief and, obviously, I didn’t want to press her, so we have some very succinct thoughts on these games. Right, no further ado: Daughter #1 presents… a list!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Switch, 2020): “I like that they throw you a party on your birthday.”
Minecraft (Xbox One, 2017): “I like building things with my friends, and all the funny nincompoops.” (I think she means the villagers, not her friends)
Parkitect (PC, 2018): “It’s your park and you can make it your own, especially with unlimited money.”
Pokémon Café Mix (Switch, 2020): “I like Pokémon a lot!”
Pokémon Sword (Switch, 2019): “Because I just like Pokémon.” (This is true, she also really enjoys Pokémon Go)
Slime Rancher (Xbox One, 2017): “I like the Slimes, but I have no idea what ‘Rancher’ means.”
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (Xbox One, 2019): “I like fighting people with the lightsaber!” (Now I feel I should state that, yes, this game is rated PEGI 16, but, I mean, it’s Star Wars; I get that it’s a little grittier and you are killing dudes, but it’s all fairly bloodless. I think as long as I’m there and she’s not getting traumatised by scary Sith or anything, it’s not really a game that cultivates violent thoughts or presents an overly militarised sense of success. I think decisions like this are best judged game-by-game (or, indeed, film-by-film if you’re doing something like taking a six-year-old to see The House with a Clock in its Walls) with an informed and present parent, and it can depend a lot on the sensibilities of the child. But, like, don’t let your kids play Red Dead Redemption 2, okay?)
Stardew Valley (Xbox One, 2016): “I like farming.”
Two Point Hospital (PC, 2018): “Because I like building the rooms.”
Zoo Tycoon (Xbox One, 2013): “I like playing with the animals.”
Right. Happy birthday, Daughter #1. Enjoy Breath of the Wild.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition (Switch, 2019) Richie: I LIEK THE DUBBLE ONES! The Last of Us x2 Divinity: Original Sin II x2 Play count: 16 off that list, that's also eight twentyfifths, which is roughly how much of my massive dick your mom can take. Cunzy: Now, we all know the issues with a crowd sourced list. It's dumb. It's like putting together a list of best fruit, or favourite socks. However, every now and then it's useful to pull the wang out to measure it against the communities' wang and see just how weird and misshapen our is (we share genital appendages) by comparison. Play count: 9! What an alternative darling I am! Richie: I mean they are great, and you know they will be, but you have to draw the line somewhere, So you have to choose and say, "Nah I wont play this", better the time sink you know, right? And you choose your reasons, you skim an article, and find the thing that is slightly wrong and then activate your inner drama queen to say "OMG that is not a game I want to play I cant believe they dont have Fred Durst doing the voice of the main character" or something equally nuts. And there is plenty of them on that list that I simply refuse to play for these reasons. And I guess that's fine? Time is finite, I cant go back ten years and play all of the PS3 games I never played? Can I? Cunzy: GUILTY CONFESSIONS, A.K.A those games you know are great but just never got around to: Mario Odyssey, LoZ (the whole franchise), Red Dead (series), Mass Effect (series), Persona (series), Divinity (series), Souls (series)... where do I hand my gamer card back? Richie: Also Overwatch... Do people actually play it, or is that there just because people fiddle with their genitalia to fund cosplay camgirls? Cunzy: Yes, watch me throat this widowmaker dildo on my stream now. Richie: So do we disagree with this list? Well, to be fucking honest I'm not going to research it myself, I'm not sure I have played much more than 50 games this year, as far as i can recall, I played a lot of Diablo 3 and Fallout/Skyrim... but yeah I'm sure the above is good... Actually fuck that, Games of the decade for me are... Every iteration of pokemon that came out in the last 10 years, X/Y, Sun/Moon, Black/White, Sword/Shield, Flaps/Scrotum. Skyrim SNOW VIKING DRAGON SHOUTING Animal Crossing, Shake the tree for Nook. Lego Everything, play, collect, repeat Hyperdimensions Neptunia. Ultra Japanese anthropomorphised consoles as Anime girls. Vert is best Waifu. Fallouts So many plus expansions, Chandler as a bad guy is special. Diablo 3, Clicky loot loot WoW Classic, because... FFXIII-2, Timetravel-bocolina Tomodatchi Life, Make your friends on the DS into miis, interact with them, cry alone at night Smash Bros. Repeatedly main Peach till she becomes top tier, yaay Jackbox games, All Gems, probably the best multiplayer gaming actually this decade. Doki Doki Literature Club, MO-NI-KA Batmanzes, grapple glide Southparkgames, play the stories you have watched and add a weak RPG element. Dragon Ages-s, Way better than mass effect Every Naruto game. Like lego, but with anime ninjas Barrel Scrape: the game, where you frantically look at your steam collection for the games you have most played, and check the dates of your 360 games to see if they fall into this category I played 18 games it seems? Cunzy: *gasps for air*, wipes synthetic jizz from Lollipop Chainsaw skirt. Ten years is a long time. Here's my top 18 games of the decade. Silent Hill Shattered Memories 2010 Silent Hill without the combat and all the more psychologically chilling because of it. Great setting, theme and story. One I regularly come back to and still brick myself. Endless Ocean 2 2010 Expanding on the first one in every way, shame there aren't more nature lovin' games in this ilk. Monster Hunter Tri 2010 The only one in the series to have kept my attention despite it being the 'wrong one' according to many in the MH community. Lost Planet 2 2010 Probably one of the games with the most comprehensive couch co-op mode and ridiculous bosses to team up against. Absolutely bonkers story, giant monsters and jetpacks. What more do you need? Dead Rising 2 2010 I wasn't too bothered with DR3 and DR4 despite absolutely loving the first game. They seem to have crossed the line between goofy but po-faced and just silly apocalypse zombie killing. DR2 arguably gives you a playground more memorable than Willamette and stays on the 'serious' side. Dead Space 2 2011 One of my favourite gaming franchises I think, excellently built world that is complemented by the tie in anime, comics and spin-off games. Resident Evil Revelations 2012 It was a good decade for Resident Evil with almost every game seeing multiple ports, re-releases and remasters. It's a close call between Resident Evil 2 and Revelations on the Nintendo 3DS for my favourite of the decade but this one really got it's biohazardous talons-with-eyes into us especially raid mode. Revelations 2 is fantastic co-op but the raid mode side of things isn't as fluid as the original Revelations. Criminally, aside from a brief VR foray into Resident Evil 7, we errr didn't play it. The Last Story 2012 Oh, I fell in love with this game and despite the small geography of Lazulis City it felt like a living city with many surprises tucked away. Great soundtrack to boot. Fire Emblem Awakening 2013 Another series that had a rock solid decade starting with Awakening then the rest of the 3DS trilogy, an excellent Warriors game and even Heroes wasn't too bad. Although Fire Emblem Three Houses is the superior game, it's the cast and the support system pioneered by Awakening that has this in my top 18. Tomb Raider 2013 Sometimes the context in which you play a game is as important as the game itself. A weekend in 2013 with fellow Tomb Raider fans blasting through this excellent and long awaited reboot is fondly remembered. Last of Us 2013 It's hard to put a finger on just one thing that makes this game phenomenal but there's not been much like it since. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2013 There were some great LEGO games this decade from opposites LEGO Worlds and LEGO Dimensions to movie tie-ins and a strong series of games based on the Marvel and DC comics. The Marvel trilogy in particular was outstanding. Everyone's Gone to the Rapture 2015 With age, the more energetic games can leave me wheezing with exhaustion just thinking about playing them and EGttR is a perfect respite from the shootbang games. Honestly, I'd be keen to play more games just like this. The English countryside setting in particular made it extra special. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2017 Honestly, who actually puts Mario Kart on their top games list? Well thinking about it and looking at play records it's probably the perfect couch multiplayer game but with a real challenging depth to those looking to break records and get a hold of those elusive gold kart components. Splatoon 2 2017 Cheating slightly here by including Splatoon 2 and the Octo Expansion as one entry. I'm really not a huge fan of the central competitive gameplay of Splatoon, although I've put in the hours, but the single player side of things are a worthy first person puzzler(?) in their own right. Into the Breach 2018 When the options paralysis sets in, which is often, I just spin up Into the Breach. Three hours and a few runs later I'll question why I don't play this game even more often. Hundreds of hours in and still challenges to do, runs to try. Super Smash Brothers Ultimate 2018 Part game, part nerdy love letter to gaming, part video game museum. Pokemon Sword and Shield 2019 Okay as Richie pointed above any of the pokemon mainline series could have filled this slot but the last one makes most sense. Twas also a good decade for the spinoffs. I enjoyed Pokemon Conquest a huge deal, put an embarrassing amount of time into Quest as well as Picross, Rumble, Duel, Go and mystery dungeons. And there we have it, lists, we'll be back at some point in the future with more lists, perhaps with a list spanning the last 2 decades, to present you with our Game of the Century (spoilers, it's SSX Tricky). Also if anyone has a word to describe my above rant about the act of proactively dismissing something despite knowing it will be good to avoid committing to the time sink, please let me know. We live in a time of labels, there must be a word for this! Love and where do you even start with persona! Richie + Cunzy X
