no.3 Capt. Boomerang/ George Harkness - (The) Suicide Squad.

Another crook, huh? He's just very nice, especially in the first(?) Suicide Squad (the one with Will Smith), bros got his biceps out and he's hairy and rough as a dog's arse. I mean Jai Courteney is just gajhdoifljkwjouhjlj. Also uh GOLD TEETH. He's so much fun too, the shafting of Slipknot just to see if the implants are real? The constant larger drinking? Gold. They should call me boomerang the way I bounce back to this guy all the time.

no.4 Johnny Cage - Mortal Kombat franchise

I'm always at a toss up between Johnny and Kano, I like both a lot but Johnny takes the cake. He's fun to play as, his lines are great. And he looks like that. The tattoo of his name on his chest, I just love men who are in love with themselves, ego for the win.

I've always been a Street Fighter lass but I'd turn coat for Johnny boy any day.

Ik I'm sorry, I just love the trilogy and he's so flamboyant and silly I just can't cope. I swear I'm not the kind of person who pashes on a bloke who unironically wears a cravat, but Edgeworth hits different. Also the reoccurrence of Ms. Oldbag makes me laugh too much. Ergo, Edgy-boy is making the list.

no.6 King Dice - Cuphead

The style, the pizazz, the showmanship; I LIVE. I just love him, the obvious nod to Cab Calloway is much appreciated, my nana used to listen to his old records all the time.

That wholesome bit out of the way, I'm a sucker for the era Cuphead is set in, all the fashion and music and early animation, it's still brilliant. And KD being the kind of guy who takes his coat off before he kicks the shit out of you with a designer shoe is just wow. Oh and moustaches are just fucking great, aren't they?

no.7 Tanner Grayson - Scrutinized

I love Tanner and his silly little jumpscare where he pops up in front of the camera. His character is the right mix of goofy and seriously menacing, just the lengths he goes to in the game are scary. Fuck syringes in general are scary. When he peeps around the corner before hiding in the cupboard- the first time that happened to me I was bricking it BIG time. But then he jumped on top of me/Luna and all was forgiven.

no.8 Frankie Donovan - Empire of Sin

Okay this might be an obscure one, ever played Empire of Sin? I found it on game pass a while back and was hooked, I tell you. 1920s prohibition gang life in Chicago, the history nerd in me vibrates with excitement. The characters are just smashing (literally sometimes), not just the bosses but the mobsters too. Frankie is by far the funniest boss to play as, he takes the piss out of everyone, swears like a sailor the whole time, he's just a ten out of ten experience. And the fact that he's always got scuffed knuckles and a bloody nose, just gets me going ngl. I wish I could be 'ina chara beag aige'.

no.9 Sammy Lawrence - Bendy and the Ink Machine

I sense an early 20th century theme here. Look, Ik nothing abut the game lore, I never played it, only watched Jacksepticeye and the like play the first game when it came out. But I do know a pathetic, screw-loose maniac when I see one, and I do here. The scene where he nabs the player and they wake to him monologuing about Bendy like he's some sort of god is brilliant and highkey turns me on.

not quite a liveblog as I am wont to do but ruth and I watched tf earthspark so I figured id write down scattered thoughts bc who KNOWS when the next eps are dropping and id love to remember what I think of things whenever that rolls around

so let me start off by saying this show is banger. we rlly like it so far awww

still also gotta say rip cyberverse, that show was SO good and died too soon :( 

but yeah I like this show a lot!!! I rlly dig how it looks, I wasn’t sure about the art style/3d animation at first but it looks really good. better than cyberverse if I'm honest (sorry cybv your budget probably wasn’t as good its not ur fault)

I loooove that we’re starting off at an interesting point in which the autobot-decepticon war is over and has been for a while, and megatron is on the same side as the bots, but there’s still conflict....LOVE IT 

cyberverse was also based for having the war going on but in a different way than shows usually did, and having the sides kind of aware of how fruitless the fighting was, and then eventually w the quintessons the two sides had to unite. anyways I have a whole separate post on cyberverse so I should chill 

the human characters are great. I feel like there's the right amount of focus on them and I really dig the family dynamic we’re getting. the kids are cute and fun and I love their relationships w/the bots...I love that mo calls OP “mr optimus” awww

I love the parents also. alex husband of the year he’s so great. and dorothy is so cool and I LOVE her and megatron. they’re like platonic malewife-girlboss. power bffs. 

LOVE how she doesn’t like OP but like megatron. SO funny. 

I really enjoy that the robots aren’t ‘in disguise’ either - the world seems to be aware of them and their existence and the war that went on. that’s cool! I like that a lot; ik the tagline for tf is ‘robots in disguise’ and all but if u think about it they weren’t really hidden in g1 even

I love that OP is working for them, and has a sense of ‘I’m doing this for the greater good/this is a means to an end (the end being peace)’ but OP seems to know that GHOST is sketchy as fuck - with him hiding the terrans’ existence and bumblebee being alive from them...but also he tells megatron to give them a chance, which is very OP of him, so that makes sense, but I’m curious if it’ll blow up in his face ((it totally will))

megatron was RIGHT in that one ep where he was trashing GHOST. them having all those cons locked up is bad news. and ruth pointed out that we haven’t even seen who’s in charge of GHOST which is pretty concerning.

also I can’t believe that one agent guy isn’t voiced by will arnett bc he totally sounds like him 

I super loved the flashbacks of the cybertronian history that were animated in g1 style :’) it reminded me of in tfa where they used clips from g1 as part of the history lesson 

I loooove megatron in this show he’s so cool. he gives me some mtmte megatron vibes - he basically says that he agreed to join GHOST/the autobot side in order to protect the cons from worse consequences. I’m interested to hear more about the war and what went on. I’d love some war flashbacks personally

I like that he clearly doesn’t want to hurt the decepticons or hand them over to GHOST, and also the cons think of him as a traitor, but it seems rough for cons out there. what else are they gonna do?

I think it would be epic if they paralleled OP and megatron - with OP joining up with GHOST bc he think he’s doing the right thing for his species and humans, only to discover that GHOST is fr bad news - and megatron binding himself to service w/GHOST and the autobots in exchange for supposed safety (?or something? Not super clear what the cons/megatron got out of that bargain) for the cons, only to discover (as he basically already did) that the cons aren’t doing great out there and they think of him as a traitor

also mandroid is actually pretty interesting for a human villain. I was expecting not to like him (espec at the beginning, he reminded me of silas from tfp who ended up being a nuisance and didn’t really have a point in the plot imo) bc tf human villains are more often miss than hit but he’s interesting 

I like that he has pretty legit reasons to want to get rid of the “invasive species” (as a biologist I love that phrasing), after he got drafted into the war and then injured in friendly fire

LOVED the part where he talks about this and dot is like ‘yeah I also got injured in the war and that sucks for us but I’m judging you based on your actions and YOU suck’ that was so epic she’s so epic and cool

I’m gonna make a separate post abt that but they were EXCELLENT. one place I think cyberverse was weak in was the fight scenes - in s1 I would say they were actively boring (sorry cybv ily) and they got better but still were a bit clunky and awkward and formulaic. I feel like it was due to animation/budget constrictions more than anything 

but yeah these fights scenes rocked. I especially love the 2d smoke and fire effects

I feel kinda bad for the cons tbh. they seem scattered and lost, with no real leader, and they’re apparently disappearing (presumably mandroid) or being imprisoned by GHOST, who I'm SURE doesn’t have any ill intentions...I wonder if the show will continue to take a more sympathetic approach to the cons (kinda like mtmte, where they kinda had a point at the beginning before they lost the thread w/all the murdering and whatnot)

also I love everyone’s designs generally but I still think OPs face looks weird hgfajkdfksjndfkj whenever he has the faceplate off I'm like Put That Back On Please. 

I like that the humans are directly involved in the plot in a way that makes sense bc the human world has already been to war with/alongside the tfs, so there are a ton of different relationships that humans can have w/the tfs. this is way more interesting than st like tfp, which I think did a pretty bad job integrating the humans, or tfa, which had Sari w/a macguffin that was plot-important in order to keep her involved 

tbf that’s kinda going on w/the kids having links to the terrans but I like the way it’s played out so far. I love the suggestions of lore we’ve gotten too, w/quintus prime and stuff

also they’ve made a point of showing that symbol in the cave where the terrans were born MORE THAN ONCE, and it totally looks like those spiderbots, so I’m thinking there’s definitely a connection there. something weird is going on

Renee was listening to how Ike explained how there were stores still full of items. But her eyes were elsewhere. She was gazing around at everything. It literally felt like she had gone back in time as she perused the store. Renee was pretty sure she had taken Oliver to a store like this once when he was two, although it had a lot more people in it than this did. It was just the two of them now. Which, actually, was rather comforting.

She had glanced back at Ike after he turned on the glowing lights in time to see him pick up the skull. The way he spoke and shook the skull made her laugh. Despite how much of an ass Ike could sometimes be, he did have his moments where he seemed like an actually decent human being. "You sure that's not some long lost descendant of yours? He looks just like you," she teased before wandering through the toys again.

She picked up some plushies, some action figures and blankets, tucking them into her bag. Her hand hovered over the Captain America figurine and she felt a soft pang in her heart as her fingers closed around it. She had probably been staring at it a little too long and hadn't realized Isaac was talking to her until he spoke. "Yeah, rough doesn't even begin to describe it," she explained, pushing the toy quickly into her pack, "I was four months pregnant with Henry when the zombies showed up. I had to give birth to him in my bathroom. When he came, I honestly thought the zombies were going to break through the front door because of the noise."

Renee moved over to the toy cars and started gathering ones she were sure her boys would like. "Henry was too young to really understand what was going on. Oliver had just turned four and Henry was about to turn one when we started for Redwood. I don't think I slept the entire trip here. It's hard to tell a toddler that they have to be quiet and them to understand that. I had to find really isolated places to stay for the night just in case he woke up extra fussy. Oliver kind of understood what was going on. He did amazing and he really stepped up to help with Henry, but I know it still bothers him. He's still very adamant that Henry stays in his room so he can 'watch his baby brother' and he's always keeping Henry close. Even when they're at daycare together, he doesn't let Henry out of his sight."

She picked up a couple more stuffed animals before sighing. "He still has nightmares about it. Not as bad as when we first got here, but I know there were some bad nights that bother him." Her mind wandered to the night when the crazed people had found them. The way she pushed Henry into Oliver's arms and hid them in the closet and told them to not come out under any circumstances. The fight she put up when they attacked her and the blood left when she was done. "It wasn't an easy trip here, that's for sure."

"There's pockets here and there." Ike went over to a shelf full of fanciful lights, checking them swiftly and then methodically tugging out the ribbons from their battery packs. He switched them on in succession and the store was illuminated by their soft, colourful glows, yellows and pinks and greens. "Sometimes if these places were shut up tight, and nobody managed to clear the outside of walkers, the insides stayed all sealed up and untouched like this."

Ike picked up a rhinestoned skull from another shelf, holding it up next to his face and waggling it. "Like cracking open an Egyptian tomb," he said, pitching his voice to something more mysterious. "Only without the curse of the mummy." Chuckling, he set the skull down again and moved over to a rack of adult t-shirts, idly going through them. "I figured you were qualified to sort out what the kids back in camp might like best out of all this," he said, taking one shirt out and bundling it up to shove into his own bag.

He kept wandering, checking on the front door periodically as he took handfuls of things -- prettily patterned rubber bands, binder clips, strings of fairy lights in different shapes -- and stowed them away to take with him. "It was rough, huh?" Ike said after a while, running his fingers down a foil strip of individually packaged candy. Shots of chalky sugar and his back teeth ached for it, to crunch into all of the candy in the dozen or so strips, a glut of dizzying sugar high to stave off the need for the other kind.

Ike backed off and relocated to a stand of umbrellas, continuing, "--when you and the kids were getting to Redwood, before. It's always a fuckin' shitshow when you gotta think about how resilient your children are able to be." There was a set of pastel bead bracelets racked on the wall and Ike took a bunch, clustering them onto his wrists.

you were skipping your way to the grey suburban house. it was a typical family home not anything out of the ordinary from the other rows of houses beside it. you walked up the porch that we’re decorated with hanging potted plants and knocked on the door. the door bursts open with a gleeful lisa. “Y/N!” she screeched, the cat in her arms flinching and pushing her away while she just hugged it tighter. “come in!” she opened the door wider for you to enter. you didn’t know that day was going to be the start of your miserable cat lady life

you walked into your small condo in Seoul. the small petit home was purchased for your convenience since you started college a year ago. the start of college was rough. you were 20 minutes late for class because you were busy running away from the club scouters. and your small condo was unworthy to be jennie’s new castle. you spent only 2 hours of sleep because jennie was moving around on the bed and claiming her territory. jennie was a spoiled brat. she always gets what she wants and if she doesn’t she’ll either annoy you or give you her cute face and smudge it all over you. your mom got her on your birthday right after you slept over at lisa’s place and fallen in love with them.

you called for jennie after putting aside your shoes. and as usual, she didn’t answer. she’s most likely to be napping on your bed with the new mattress you just bought. you walked to your bedroom and immediately let out a piercing scream. you were frightened. scared. shocked. you were everything but calm right now. there was a naked woman curled up on your bed. you couldn’t move. you just stood there frozen and scared as to why was there a naked woman on your bed and jennie was nowhere to be seen. the woman yawned and looked at you with her cat eyes. she smiled and got up and crawled over to you. “y/n’s home!” the more she got closer the more you backed away from her until your back touched the door of your bedroom. the weirdly attractive naked woman was rubbing her forehead against your shin.

your breathing was shaky. you just noticed how her body was perfectly curved and not a single muscle out of place. it’s getting hot in here. “jennie?” you called out, testing the waters. she looked up at you with an eyebrow cocked as if you were gonna ask her a question. you let out a staggered breath. you swallowed the lump in your throat that you didn’t realize was there. you slowly bent down to jennie’s level and took her head in your hands. you could hear her purring while she closed her eyes in ecstasy. you took her hands and stood up so she could try walking. she was wiggling and couldn’t stand up properly so you put her arm around your shoulders and led her to your bed. “are you jennie?” you ask for confirmation cause you don’t really know what’s going on. her head cocked to the side “am i not?” she asked as if she was a human for all her life.

“you’re a human!” you put your hands up with eyes popping out of your sockets. “yep it happened after you left for work. i don’t know what happened but i think it’s the snacks that you started buying from that sketchy store.” you closed your eye and opened them again hoping the nude woman infront of you turns back into her normal form. what’s happening right now. lisa was right you shouldn’t have bought some snacks from that sketchy store. god why are you so stubborn. you opened your eyes and walked over to your closet to get her some of your clothes. “here put these on.” it was a simple oversized hoodie with some undergarments and some sweatpants incase she gets uncomfortable but you doubt so. she’s been living as a naked animal for over 5 years. you only did that so you don’t catch yourself staring at her like a disgusting pervert you are. you watched her as she struggled to get her head through the hole and only moved to help her when she yelped.

after helping her get dressed you did your normal routine. you washed your clothes and normally jennie would be sitting on the washing machine and enjoying your pets. now, since she can’t curl up on top of the washing machine she sat there and dangled her legs from the machine. you didn’t bother to pet her cause you’d think that she would feel uncomfortable with your touch since. well. she’s a human now. but jennie didn’t change a single bit. she longed for your touch and suddenly became gloomy after she didn’t receive her daily pets. then you moved on to doing the dishes before going to the couch where jennie was sitting with her knees tucked into her chest while her eyes glued to the tv seeming to understand the words that she couldn’t comprehend before. you chuckled with amusement looking at her focusing on the tv and patted her head softly. not gonna lie her hair was just the same soft hair that was on her normal form. you sat down and sighed how long will this go on. will jennie never turn back into a cat again? will she be your roommate now? you turned your gaze from the tv to her laying her head on your lap while her legs cupped the pillows. you decided to call lisa for help.

“why would i be lying?!”

you and lisa rambled while jennie occupied her time with the tv. “you know she hates me right why did you call me.” lisa didn’t want to deal with jennie cause she doesn’t know how worse she could be when she’s turned into a human. “cause you know alot about cats” you urged her to help you cause your pretty helpless now. you’ve always thought of lisa as a cat whisperer because every single cat that she comes across happens to like her. excluding jennie. so why can’t she do it now? she looked at jennie whose napping with a sheepish look and says. “nah shawty bae i ain’t dealing with that.” you rolled your eyes and shoved her away. proceeding to join jennie into slumberland.

you were awoken by jennie snuggling her head under chin. upon awaking you realised you both slept on the couch with a blanket draped over you two that lisa probably left before she went back home.you just stayed in that position since it was comfortable and you were in the mood of doing nothing. it was pretty weird to be snuggling with your cat who has just turned into a human. but that was a future you problem. then silence was broken “y/n?” jennie mumbled.

“yeah?”

“i love you”

you smiled. she probably got that from a movie and not knowing how much the weight is in those three words. jennie has never really been affectionate with you or been dedicated to you. she just follows you here and there. never really to attached. but now with some fortune she got to say it to your face. and to be honest you kinda like jennie like this. you pat her head.

“ i love you too “

The moment has finally arrived

Really at the start not much is different, Penny is having trouble controlling everything that's happening around her, but I'm thinking I might swap what they have Jagged do-

I don't know for sure yet but I'm considering my options. Either way Penny gets pushed to the limit and gets akumatized

Chartreux and Crimson are fighting her as they normally would, while Kitsune is having a whole ass crisis cause her plans aren't working

She kinda collapses on a roof, watching the other two heroes do their thing all chaotic and remembers her motto, the advice she received and follows religiously;

"Life your life with no regrets"

And she starts to realize that the duo make tons of mistakes and never seem to get down on themselves despite how much they should regret their decisions

Kitsune realizes that she's been thinking about the advice the wrong way. It doesn't mean to do everything without flaw the first time, but to have fun and live in the moment, have fun and enjoying life for what it is

So she goes feral

Jocks style

Joins the fight and just follows the flow and in the end the new Jocks Trio are victorious

However, Fu isn't so pleased. He can't take back the miraculouses, but he has to stop this mess before it gets worse

So he and Wayzz go for a walk, and are saved by a certain classmate, who gets invited back for tea

Ugh the baby

Episode starts with Max learning about the miraculous and Fu and stuff from Fu, who hands him the turtle and asks him to become the leader the team needs

Max isn't sure about the idea at first, because if he can't even keep Kim and Alix out of danger, how can he protect his fellow heroes?

He gets a pep talk and agrees

Meanwhile the class has gathered to scheme a way to get Adrien out of his schedule to hang out with them. They were all assigned secret roles and invited by a "mysterious mastermind"

It's just Kagami

Newly living her life her way, she comes up with something so ridiculous it might just work

Only it doesn't and the Gorilla is about to be akumatized but instead it's the baby

The trio transform to fight it only to receive messages on their devices from a "Shell Shock", which they promptly ignore

When the Turtle Hero does show up, he saves their asses and pulls them aside to tell them the plan and of course none of them are too pleased

However they go with it and they win. Shell Shock explains that he was chosen to be the team leader and the corespondent between them and the "Guardian" and tells Kitsune that he will message her through the magic system thing for when she's needed. Otherwise she is to stay away from the fight

Yeah she's not happy

Episode ends with Adrien joining the class for some hangout at the park after his next shoot was cancelled due to the akuma attack

Riposte

The day has finally arrived for Kagami to try out for the fencing academy in Paris and a lot is riding on her acceptance. If she fails to get in, her grandfather will have her and Tomoe moved back home again. She'll lose her newfound freedom, her friends, her secret identity

Still upset about essentially being called a sidekick, Kagami isn't ik the right mindset for fencing. She and Trixx have a little chat in the locker room before she puts her necklace and ring in her locker

Marinette, Alix, Kim, and Ivan (the last three having just stayed past their lacrosse practice) are there to cheer Kagami on and show their support

Kagami and Adrien are paired up to fight, but they don't have any mats to practice on because they're being cleaned. While they're fighting, Kagami steps on a wet part of the floor and slips, losing in the process

No one liked that

The instructor says that since she lost she can't join and says his decision is final when people mention how unfair he's being

Kagami just walks out, trying not to show how upset she is when she calls her mother to share the results. When asked to challenge the decision and do a rematch, she states that in her family there is no room for second chances and leaves

Then haha akuma time

Having not gone back to her locker, she doesn't have the fox miraculous so it's a normal akuma

Might change some things about Riposte not sure yet

Shell Shock messages Kitsune that they won't need her at the start of the fight but things get rough for a bit there, and he can't help but think that Mirage would have been useful then

The heroes end up winning, Kagami's mother tells her to "stop being stubborn" and to accept a fair second match, deciding to keep her loss a secret from her grandfather

For the final bit, Kagami gets her proper rematch, and kicks Adrien's ass. And with that, she's in the academy and gets to stay in Paris

She goes and puts on both her ring and the fox miraculous, apologizing to Trixx for what happened while they were apart

Befana

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINETTE

The class is preparing a surprise party for her, everyone pitching in something to make it extra special

Some of the classmates discuss their gifts to her while preparing, Nino with his playlist for the party, Mylene with a plush from one of those animal charities, Alix with a collection of recipes and some spare fabric she got from her grandma all the way from Egypt

And Juleka with a CD of "background noise" music she and Luka made with Marinette in mind

As that's happening Gina (?) Shows up for her annual Nonna and Mari day, which Tom forgot about because of how excited he was for the surprise party idea

Rather than what happens in canon, Gina and Marinette take turns choosing a small activity to do together, just like every year. After a trip to some candy shop, Gina's about to have her final turn where she planned to give Marinette her gift

That's when Alya calls Marinette and claims that she's got a huge scoop and needs her trusty moderator to help her out

Marinette doesn't want to miss out on the little time she gets with her Nonna but Gina just insists she go cause it sounded important. She leaves after saying she'll see Marinette back home later

The Birthday Girl shows up to the surprise party and she's actually surprised this time cause she was so focused on picking the perfect activities for her and Gina that she didn't see the clues

Befana happens when Tom tells his mom that Marinette is at a birthday party and she gets mad that her own granddaughter felt the need to lie as if she wouldn't let her go to her own party if she asked

There's a bit of a detail about Marinette not even taking any of the candies with her, even though it's both of their favourite

I liked Befana's powers well enough, I thought that it was pretty cool. It's based on La Befana, who I believe is basically Italian Santa?? It's cool

The heroes struggle to sneak away while some of their classmates are turned to stone or into those weird angels, all while trying to keep Marinette safe

Shell Shock and Chartreux are the most successful, since Kagami and Kim are trying to protect the birthday girl

They do get a chance to transform and Shell Shock comes up with a complicated plan to stop the akuma

So obviously it gets screwed up at some point

Once the fight is done, Marinette tries to talk to Gina and explain everything, making it clear that she loves their days together

This is when Gina gives her the gift, er, gifts. First is a bag meant to allow Mari to bring some if her sewing stuff on the go

The second is a jacket just like Gina's, only it has the little blossoms from Marinette's shirt and shit, and announces that she's staying in Paris for a while longer, promising to take Marinette on a proper bike trip

Here's the next four episodes planned! I'm nearly done with season 3 now and I'm gonna wait to do another Differences post while I figure things out with 2 and 3 lmao
